BTS American Hustle Life Ep6

Ep 5 recap:

BTS are still in LA learning about hip hop. After their lyric challenge last episode, they had a little party (bbq) with Warren G to celebrate. Over dinner Warren G asked them if they got to spend much time with their friends and family and we learned the heart-breaking truth that they don’t and that it’s been 2 years since some of them have even been home.

The episode’s challenge was to shoot a music video and their task was to find some women to appear in the video. Cue some hilarious and cringeworthy moments as 7 terrified lads combed the streets trying to speak to the opposite sex. The filming was equally – if not more - hilarious to watch.

Onwards and upwards…

So they are still filming and straight away Jungkook is getting himself into some mischief. I laughed when the stylist hurried out yelping to get out of there because he doesn’t have a spare outfit.

Jungkook makes it back to solid ground and starts recording his self-cam again. ROFL at him running away squealing when one of the ladies plays up to his camera.

Now the ladies are in bikinis and sunbathing and the groups have to sit next to them and film. I almost couldn’t breathe from laughing especially when V, Jungkook and Suga walking away pretty swiftly after they’d finished; Jungkook saying he nearly *died* back there. And Suga grinning like he’d just been released from prison and saying he’s relieved it’s over. I really never expected Suga to be so nervous of women! He’s usually so chill.

Lol at the three of them watching Jin and J-Hope filming with the ladies (and acting fairly naturally) and Jungkook wondering how they can have fun like that as he thought his heart was going to explode and he’d die *crying with laughter emoji*

 Ah, it was really no surprise that J-Hope won the challenge. He was the only one who had fun, could get within a foot of a women and not look two seconds from shitting himself LMAO.

His and Jin’s reward for being the winning team was a collectible figurine/model of their choice? Cool!

Next day…

So Jin and J-Hopes next challenge is to find their beat box master but they have to beat box in the street to draw them out? I totally agree J-Hope, it’s utterly embarrassing. Yep, I had a little fast forward through that.

So they find their master, Fraahz and go back to his place where he goes through the basics of beat boxing with them. Their attempts are cute, although I think that microphone may need to be turned upside down to drain the spit ewwwwww looooooooooooooooooool.

Elsewhere, RM and Jimin’s task is to find their dance master – lol at RM’s pained reaction at having to dance again

Oooooh they’re going to learn some bboying! Wow, Jimin picks it up pretty well – I always thought he was a good dancer (since he led the dance class in Carpool Karaoke) that’s why I was surprised that J-Hope was considered the band’s best. RM does a pretty good job too! They really are such a cute duo. It’s quite a unique friendship they have – hard to describe. Bet they’re knackered after that dance session though.

V(?) teasingly trying to wake him up and RM kicking his leg in retaliation. This band really do act like brothers. It’s like they’ve lived together since they were born.

Lol at Jin and J-Hope repeatedly bursting into giggles as they fail time and time again to get through their beat box and meditation practice.

It’s the next morning  and RM and Jimin meet their dance teacher in the park for a little exercise (although they claim they didn’t know it was for exercise).

AHAHAHAHA RM almost dead after running a couple of laps. To be fair it’s probably scorching outside which won’t help. LMAO, the dance teacher putting the weight jacket on Jimin as the exercise was too easy for him. Poor Jimin and RM look absolutely floored by the end – I hope the walk back to the dorm isn’t too far for those tired little legs.

They’re back in the dance studio later on and poor RM get’s hit in the head by Jimin’s foot – aww. RM gets revenge by slapping a high five to Jimin’s hand/wrist extremely hard *crying with laughter emoji*. I love these lads so much <3 They are such characters.

Jin and J-Hope meet Fraahz again in the park to go over their beatboxing practice. I was impressed that they managed to get through the meditation without bursting into giggles. That part with them turning animal sounds into beats was hilarious.

******************************************** While the others are working with their masters V, Suga, and Jungkook are chilling at the dorm watching basketball and Jungkook is pretending to shoot people with a tablet… Lol, here comes Tony and N to spoil their fun! What are the three of them going to get? RnB!

Wait whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Hold the **** phone. Did they just say they’ve never heard of Whoopi Goldberg????!!! I ain’t from the states either man but she is a l-e-g-e-n-d. These three lads need to sit down and watch Sister Act 1 and 2 STAT.

Iris Stevenson, the woman Sister Act 2 is based on, is such an inspiration.

OMG they are going to get to do some gospel singing! *squeal*

Wow, Jungkook, you have such a nice voice <3 What an absolute cutie.

This was a great thing for the 3 of them to do. Not only was Iris’s happy and motherly soul something I think they desperately needed but, from what the lads were saying afterwards, I think musically it was important they learned how to feel love for singing again. The amount of practice they had to do as trainees – and no doubt still have to do - and the type of practice, as well as the stress of trying to ‘make it’ seems to have taken a lot of joy away from their art. And that is a real shame. If you don’t like what you’re doing, if your heart isn’t in it, then how can you possibly be happy? You certainly won’t be the best you can be!

Aww V has a wonderful voice for this kind of music too. But he’s not feeling well :( You need to rest up sweetie.

Iris is such a lovely and amazing woman.

Okay, so they are going to each show off what they’ve been learning and then score themselves out of 100 “fairly”. Why do I get the feeling that “fair” will be used very loosely lol.

J-Hope and Jin did well with beat boxing although I think Jimin and RM were a little harsh with giving them a score of 69. Bet that gets reciprocated when it’s their turn. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I was right lol. RM did really well with the dancing thought, kudos to him.

Next up it’s Suga, V, and Jungkook. Aww sweet Jimin getting up out his seat to hug V and tell him how much he loves his voice <3 <3 And ten seconds later he rigs the scoring so that he and RM are not last *facepalm*. At least he takes it back at the end and honestly gives them a score of 100 points. This means he and RM lose and the punishment is….

The winners get to smash the losers faces into a plate of whipped cream. LMAO. This I have got to see!!!

Another enjoyable episode. This one was both fun and funny. The boys have got great personalities and can make even silence seem interesting. They are a delight to watch and I’m so glad I’m still at the beginning of the journey <3

Ok, I am addicted to the 'Street Dance of China' and not just because of YiBo, but also because I support enthusiasts and everyone who has a passion for something. Also, YiBo is an awesome dancer and everyone should go on youtube and look it up. After that, all was a desperate, embarrassing mystery... from a long journey to Beijing, to sightseeing with his best friend Nie Huaisang and his brother Jiang Cheng {who was constantly angry and annoyed at everything and everyone, but secretly fanboying because that is who he was}. Panic attacks were mixed with excitement.  The thing was, he didn`t know how to feel. The Lan Sect, as the dance crew was called, was the one he really want to get into. Sure he could try the Jin, Wen or Ouyang, but who wouldn`t want to be in the team with Lan Zhan? He was ubertalented - an actor, a rapper, a motorcycle rider and an excellent dancer. Ying was classically trained, a musician with a soul, his main career to be met in amateur singing, dancing, theatre and having fun. He had never wanted to be famous, but a bet was a bet. So when he was writing his name in a form and he was given a number...it all happened in a bit of an oblivion. He had taken a bit of a drink before, just to soothe his nerves and joked with other contestants. The cameras, the whole artificial town that they had managed to create was odd. Time passed quickly with Ying scrolling through WeeChat, TikTok and whatever gossip news he could find just to find himself strangely attracted to Lan Zhan. Did it really matter to him? He was about to answer after the stuff called his number. First he wasn`t sure it was him, but Cheng`s locket reminded he to get up and go. ‘Oh’ sweat was coming from every pour of his body, suddenly there were too many people, too many eyes staring at him. He was used to performing, but when he looked around himself. He had to compose himself for the sake of cameras and then....he looked at him and for a second, their eyes met. Shit, Ying mumbled but he knew he had to bow and greet the laoshi. He hoped he was able to hide his nervousness. ‘I am going to ....’ What was he going to do? ‘freestyle’ he said in the end. Why? Why was he doing that to himself? He had seen this guy dance, he was nowhere near Lan Zhan, nowhere near his level. That guy was an idol, he was born without bones, but once the music started and Wei Ying made his first moves, his mind was clouded, he was in the world of dance. He span around, twisted his body, he even managed a couple of tricks he had learnt from kruping and now he was standing there, breathless. He knew he did good, his confidence was back. A smirk on his back, the crowd was cheering and then he could face him. He looked him, was a smile on Lan Zhan`s face appearing? Wei Ying bowed, thanked and waited. There was a moment of tension. Was he good enough? The other one smiled and handed him the towel. First, it seemed that he was going to just ...hand it to him but eventually he tied it around his neck, their eyes met again, but it was hard to read in Lan Zhan`s eyes. Lacking an expression, while he agreed to take him into his team, it almost seemed like that boyish smirk that for there for a nanosecond was gone. ‘You need to work harder.’ was all that he said. Wei Ying nodded ‘Yes.’ But his eyebrows raised a little. This was going to be fun.

Seventeen as garages

(Inspired by the album cover for the ver. 2 Al1 album bc im pretty sure its literally just a garage)

Scoops is a heavy duty garage turned into a bomb shelter. You’ll be as safe as a cockroach if you hide in this garage when the whole population of the earth is destroyed.

Jeonghan is those old manual garages that are made of some annoying fiber-y material that scratches you if you brush up against it and it's always impossible to lift up the door and every once in awhile it will slide down by itself

Joshua is an automatic garage that is pearly white bc the landlord scrubs it every week. The wood is plated with some marble printed planks but it almost looks like real marble you wouldn’t be able to tell it was fake.

Wonwoo is the garage that's always open but the local emo startup band is playing there every night way too loud and they’re not even that good even though they've been at it for 2 years. They’ve only had one gig at their high school homecoming dance because they had been begging for 3 years and the principal felt bad for them. The walls are covered with black sheets because the guitarist’s mom wouldn’t let them paint the walls. and every time one corner of a sheet falls down they immediately have to stop playing to pin it back up because the white walls ruin their emo aesthetic.

Hoshi is probably just a garage on fire idk. There is always screaming coming from this property. 

Jun isn't a garage but just one of those canopies that people park under. But the canopy has an "Alvin and the chipmunks 2: the squeakquel" photo printed onto it

Jihoon would probably be one of those automatic garages but without the sensors that stop the garage from descending if something is in the way so you just gotta get out in time or get crushed

Mingyu is a garage that has been tarped up for two weeks it's either being fumigated for termites or being inspected by the FBI for suspicions of the residents housing an extraterrestrial there nobody in the neighborhood is quite sure and they're all too afraid to ask. But even though under these conditions its STILL that one house on the block that smells amazing every other day because the residents are always grilling something. 

DK is a garage turned children's daycare so it's painted with sunflowers, blue skies dotted with smiley white clouds, and Barney.

Minghao is a garage turned BBoy practice room/hang out spot so there's just a bunch of cardboard covering the floor. The walls have a few posters hung up here and there and rap music is almost always playing. When they’re not dancing they’re just chilling on some old couches that they found on the side of the road but they were fixed up so you could barely tell they’re old except for a few stains.

Seungkwan is just a pink garage from the one Pepto Bismol house in the neighborhood

Vernon is a garage with the little basketball hoop screwed into the ACTUAL garage door but not above it so you can't even open it anymore or take the hoop off bc the ladder broke 5 minutes after it was attached.

Dino is a 3 door automatic garage from a modern eco-friendly house it has cameras and built in wifi and Bluetooth. The most talented. Probably made of actual gold.

Floor Kids On The Road!

Hey Floor Kids Crew,

Hope you’re all having a good week! Here’s a bit of news to catch you up what’s been going on with the game and the dev team, including the trips we took to GDC, PAX and SXSW last month.

Recent Events

GDC

Our lead developer Mike Wozniewski was able to make the trip to San Francisco for the 2017 Game Developers Conference in late February and early March. We didn’t have a booth to show our game at this event but Mike spent the five days of the conference meeting and exchanging with a number of other game devs, producers and publishers to talk to them about Floor Kids. We got some great feedback and our game definitely drew some attention as it stands out from almost every other game out there. In fact, some of the conversations that took place at GDC might lead to some very big news for us in the future, but we can’t talk about that right now. Stay tuned, we promise we’ll tell you everything soon!

PAX East So if GDC is the biggest gathering of developers, PAX East is by far the biggest gathering of fans! Our designers Phil Rostaing and JoDee Allen had the chance to make the trip to Boston from March 10-12 and show off Floor Kids at a booth during the event. Over 150,000 people were said to have visited the expo during the three days.

We were elated to see so many people come by the booth and try the latest version of Floor Kids. This was the first time we had new players try our new tutorial and a lot of our new rhythm routines, and the response was great! Everyone from little kids, fun cosplayers and even a group of bboys (!!) had the chance to try out the game and we were happy to see them smiling and grooving as they played.

We loved to see so many people enjoying Floor Kids!

We were also happy to show our booth which, even if it wasn’t the biggest, was well stocked with quirky objects courtesy of Kid Koala, including some mini toy record players, an old turntable-TV from the 60s, a working terrarium with two plastic turtles (we named them Bboy Hardshell and Bgirl SloMo) and even automated blinking googly eyes that we stuck to our monitor.

We promise there weren’t any cameras inside the googly eyes.

Phil and JoDee really enjoyed meeting so many fans at PAX and the event was a good occasion to connect with new and old friends from Spearhead Games, Spooky Squid Games, Scavengers Studio, Kitfox Games and others. Even if the team was exhausted after the three days of the expo, there’s no doubt we’d love to repeat the experience next year!

SXSW Gaming

But that wasn’t the end of it! One week after PAX, we sent Phil and Mike to Austin for the South by Southwest Gaming Expo. SXSW is a massive 10-day long festival of Music, Film and Interactive Arts, and this year was the first time that they included Gaming as a major exhibit on the same level as the other three. Despite being delayed by the massive snow storm that hit Montreal in the days between PAX and SXSW, we managed to set up another fun little booth in Austin for people to come and try the game.

Watching players groove as they play Floor Kids: best part of going to events!

There were of course a lot of other great indie studios at the expo, as well as some big players (you should have seen that massive Nintendo booth) and a slew of tabletop games. We had the chance to connect with fellow devs from Red Nexus Games, Thunder Lotus, Boréalys Games and Kasedo Games, all with their own awesome titles being represented at the show.

All in all, SXSW Gaming was an awesome event, and we’re excited about the idea of trying to come back next year. But first, we’ve got to finish this game!

Development

This week our stalwart programmer Amesh is importing a new batch of frames of JonJon’s animations. Those are partly new moves and new transition frames for the current characters, as well as touching up some of the existing frames. For example we found a weird scribble in the corner of one of the frames for Scribbles’ Aerial Flip to Side Step transition (heh, a scribble for Scribbles, lolololol), so Jon had to go back into the frame and fix it.

We try to check the animation frames at as many stages as possible, from when Jon is double checking his own work to when we see them in motion in the latest builds, but with the quantity of animation being produced it’s easy for the occasional bug to squeak by. Still, errors like this are pretty rare so far.

Other than that, our designers are working out some elements of the game's progression and overall structure, as we are still evaluating a few options on how to release and monetize our game, and this will likely have an impact on the game's overall structure. In any case, we will be sharing this news with you all as early as possible!

This line of shirts celebrates Bgirl/Bboy culture. This dance started in New York City as one of the 5 elements of Hip Hop and has evolved into a worldwide movement of dancers. Being the mom of a bboy Thesis I have had the great honor of being witness to something rare and beautiful in this world that these dancers have created. In almost every country , and in some of the smallest cities, towns, and villages, there are young people that are fully immersed into this dance culture. They are united by dance and it is one of the strongest bonds I have ever seen. The sense of oneness felt between the dancers from around the world is truly a great example for us all .
