feeling very, very blah today.

I want to say it's likely because I'm about to get my period and I know that is true, but my mind plays so many tricks on me and I'm just teaching myself now how to train it and not listen to all the thoughts in my head and think that they're all real because they are not.

Work is changing a lot. It went from just me and my co-worker to now a boss and 2 other coworkers on our team and it's definitely been quite an adjustment.

It was just the 2 of us managing the department, so when we got a boss she split both of our roles into 2 roles which I am VERY grateful for and incredibly proud of myself for being a 1 man show for the marketing and communications, however it's been well over a month and I still have yet seen my revised job description. I've brought it up several times, and I ensure to angle it so I am clear on my tasks and can check all the boxes that I'm suppose to be doing now. Every time I ask she'll just say "oh ya..." so what do I even say after that??

The new guy who took over the other half of the role is alright. He's quite creative and incredibly digitally talented. He used to be a freelancer but then got sick of not being able to "turn off" as an entrepreneur, so thats why he wanted to work for someone else.

He keeps complaining about how hes on week 3 and the company still hasn't provided him his work computer, so he has to bring in his $6000 computer everyday - which I really don't see it being that terrible. I mean it's not ideal that after that long we still haven't provided him one and ya it doesn't look great... but then he'll make comments about what we are providing him is a "downgrade" compared to what he is working with and was disappointed we weren't able to provide him with all of his asks. Like dude, you have to remember where you are working here, we aren't a top high level company corporation here - its a yacht club... I don't know why this bothered me so much.

Then this week the new girl who took over the other half of my coworkers job started. Shes young, peppy and very outgoing. Idunno why but I find her kind of annoying. it feels like she tries really hard, I guess because she just started and shes young. What really annoys me is that she seems to get along REALLY well with my favourite coworker Angela (The one where it was just me and her all along).

Also everyone is starting to just love her, especially HR and it's so fucking annoying because I really don't like HR. She trying to make this place into a hotel vibe, and it's not a hotel... it is a yacht club...

They're all just obsessed with her, and I mean thats great, but idunno, I guess i'm jealous? or something about my ego here, because I feel like I used to be her and the entertainer when I worked at my previous corporate job a few years ago. I loved being that outgoing, spunky, fun one who stuck out from the group. But I that's not really me anymore and part of that makes me sad, but on the other hand part of me is grateful that my life isn't that chaotic anymore because those are the stories that I would share at the lunch table at work. So maybe it's a good thing because really all these stories she tells is about her toxic friends or things that happen to her - when I've been through that and learned my stuff.

I'm the type of person who goes to work to get shit done, make a difference, do my job and learn while I go. But this whole setting almost feels like a popularity contest and it's soooo different then what Im used to (with the corporate background). I've read before that 80% of doing well at work is the people liking you, and 20% how well you actually doing your job.

My best books of 2020

Well, here we are again. I don’t know if anyone will even read this, but time for my yearly recap of the top 5 best books I read the previous year. I think we can all agree that 2020 was certainly an eventful year, and escaping into a good book was definitely nice at times. Due to avoiding going to the library for periods of time, I read a lot of the books I own at home and thus quite a few of the books I read last year were re-reads. Out of the 50 books I managed to read, 13 were re-reads and will not be included in this list of my favourite books that I read in 2020, only the books that I read for the first time were considered. Since I can’t be bothered to rank them, I will simply present them in the order in which I read them. So, without further ado, here are my top 5 books read in 2020.

1. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Well, at least one book of Cassandra Clare is bound to make it’s way onto this list each year so this is certainly no surprise. I read Chain of Gold as soon as I could get my hands on it and I was certianly not disappointed. This book did a wonderful job at intruducing the new characters, I love them all so much already. I really feel like Cassandra Clare gets better for every new book she puts out and I felt that Chain of Gold was a very good first book in this series. I’m really excited to see where it goes. I really loved it and I can almost guarantee that the second installment in the series, Chain of Iron, will be on this list for 2021.

2. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive of this book when I first heard about it. I thought it would certainly be interesting and something I at some point would want to read, but I wasn’t really sure how much a prequel would add to the story. I didn’t even realize it was about President Snow until shortly before I decided to read it, and that made me even more uncertain. Snow wasn’t exactly my favourite character in the Hunger Games trilogy, and I thought it would be hard to relate to him and care about him in this book, but also interesting to see what set him down the path to be the person we see in the series. To my surprise I actually liked it a lot and found it very interesting to see how the Hunger Games came to be the way they are in the series and how Snow got the be the person he is. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you liked the Hunger Games trilogy!

3. Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

The largest thing I took on reading-wise in 2020 was probably finally starting the Throne of Glass series. Sadly it was hard getting my hands on them from the library, so I couldn’t finish the series (I did that now in the first weeks of 2021), but I managed to read the first five books. Since I couldn’t let this list be full of the Throne of Glass books, I limited myself to picking only one for this list. It was hard, but I chose Empire of Storms since it was the last book I read and the tension is certainly high after that book. But really it symbolizes the entire series, because it’s just sooo good. I’m partly asking myself why I didn’t read it sooner and partly thanking myself for deciding all those years ago to wait with reading them until all the books were, because I don’t know how I’d survive needing to wait a year for each book. This series is truly great and I’m so glad I finally decided to read it!

4. The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu

Well look at that, another Cassandra Clare book made it onto my list, who would have thought? No but in all seriousness, this book was great! Certainly not the best book in the Shadowhunter universe, but definitely good. Alec might be my all time favourite character and Malec is one of my all time favourite ships, so a book with them as the main characters can’t be anything other than good. It was also really nice seeing the old TMI gang back together again, I’ve missed them. This book did however kind of feel like a weird fever dream and thinking back on it now it almost feels like it can’t have been real. I guess the reason I didn’t like it more than I did was because it was almost too funny and weird for me to take it seriously. I did still love it though, and it was definitely hilarious from beginning to end!

5. The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan

This is probably the book that took me most by surprise last year. I truly didn’t expect it to be amongst my top books of the year before I read it, and I was absolutely shocked by how much I loved it. I mean, I absolutely love Rick Riordan, PJO, HOO and MCGA are amongst my all time favourite series, Riordan is one of my favourite authors, but for some reason I never really liked the Trials of Apollo series that much. The first book was pretty good, but towards the end of it I kind of stopped liking it and I don’t quite know why. I didn’t like the second book much and the third I didn’t read until it had been out for almost six months (I usually read his books as soon as I possibly can). The fourth book was quite good and I therefore had hope the last book would be alright as well, but considering that I’d almost given up on the series in the middle, I did not expect the last book to be more than “quite good”. Boy, was I wrong. I read most of the book in just one day, I just couldn’t put it down, and the ending left me feeling soooo satisfied! This book just emotionally wrecked me, and it was all the more powerful because I had not expected it at all. It was such a good ending to the series, I’m not sure if I’ll ever get over it. This book made powering through the previous ones totally worth it for me, it was such a good pay-off. Also, absolutely hilarious in true Rick Riordan fashion, and with the hints in it for upcoming stand-alone novels I am now so extremely excited for him come out with more books. That Solangelo novel that he heavily hinted at? I need it now please! Truly a great ending to the series, it exceeded all my expectations.

“Alright, (Y/N),” your new boss said with a smile, “Yoongi will show you around and teach you how everything works here. If you need anything else, I'll be in the back, so don't hesitate to ask either of us, okay?”

“Thank you very much,” you bowed and waited for him to leave again, before you straightened your back to look at your new co-worker, “I'm looking forward to working with you, Yoongi.”

Yeah, he wasn't sure if he could say the same about you, to be completely honest, but he didn't want to be rude on your first day, so he forced a smile and nodded, “Thanks.”

And then it was quiet and awkward right away. Until one of the customers decided to suddenly turn on a vibrator, the sounds echoing through the entire store.

Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows, walking over to the cash desk with you, “Why are you here anyways? Why this job? I thought girls like you work at Starbucks or something.”

“This one pays better.. and student life isn't exactly the best when it comes to making money.”

“I feel you on that one,” he chuckled and began showing you how the cash register worked, continuing to steal glances when you focused on what he was saying and finding himself smiling more often than not at the way you would concentrate or smile yourself when you understood what he was saying.

The problem he had with you wasn't that he thought you were incredibly attractive and he'd probably dream about you daily.. it's the fact that he thought you were cute.

And there is a vastly big difference between thinking someone is attractive and thinking someone is cute.

And Yoongi had promised himself to only fuck for the next five + years and not like a girl any more than on a sexual basis.

Yet here you were, fifteen minutes into the job and he could already tell that he would probably end up having a crush on you for your sweet personality.

“Any questions?” he asked after he had explained you the basics.

Anyways, for the rest of the day, Yoongi made sure to keep an eye on you. 

He felt like once word got around that this shop now had an attractive new girl working in here, it would get a couple more customers.

And he doubted that was a good thing.

“Soooo? How was your first day?” you heard your friend ask you through your phone, you pressing yours tighter against your ear as you took a seat in the subway.

“It was pretty good, actually. There's only one more guy working there and.. he's nice.”

She must have heard your smile, because she instantly asked: “Nice as in.. attractive?”

“He's pretty cute, yeah,” you giggled, but instantly shook your head, “But we're co-workers. So nothing is ever going to happen between us.”

In all honesty, Yoongi was an attractive man and the fact that he seemed to care about you in such a short amount of time did make your heart swell just by thinking about it.

So much, that once you ended the call, you immediately texted him, thanking him for helping you out with everything today and telling him that you were looking forward to working with him in the future.

Because of him, you had a great first day at work and were now really excited for the others. And when can you honestly say you're happy about going to work?

Yoongi had just come home himself, falling on his bed when he got the message and replying with a smile as he told you it was no problem at all and that he was looking forward to it as well.

He had liked the solitude, but now that he knew what it was like having someone like you by his side.. it wasn’t so bad.

Just when he pressed the send button, Hoseok knocked on his door, “Are you jerking off?”

“I just came home.”

“Bratty let’s go home, put these clothes on, then go to the dance club~!”, Bratty said.

Bratty nod and they both walk off. Chara was starting to crave something sweet, you suggest going back to the Lounge because they sell something sweet. You just wonder what’s the opposite of a Starfait?

“Can I have a Starshake please?”, Chara asked putting their money on the table.

That answers your question. You look at the menu….oh my gosh, everything on the menu looks soooo delicious. A Starshake, a Hip-hop Burger, Legendary Guardian Panini, and….*long and slow gasp* Napstabot shaped…Pancakes…ooooohh you realllly wanna eat soome.

“Here you go kid”, Hoodie said handing Chara a Starshake.

“If you don’t mind me asking, why is your name hoodie?”, Chara asked before taking a sip of the shake.

“It’sss…short for…Hoodnini…”, Hoodie said looking away with an upset look.

“Oooh, what a neat name”

“You think so”, Hoodie asked calmly shocked and looking back at Chara.

“Yea! It’s unique, one-of-kind, and pretty cool”, Chara said listing with their fingers, “How did ya get the name?”

“It’s a pretty long story”, Hoodie said resting his arm on the counter and rubbing his neck with an embarrassed look.

“Hey Hoodnini, can we get some Napstabot Pancakes?”, a monster asked beside Chara.

“Hoodnini one Starshake please”, another monster said behind Chara.

“We’ll…talk about it later okay?”

“Sure”, Chara said moving out the way and out the Lounge.

“Hey Chara, follow me”, you said walking out the Fun Center.

You guided Chara to the alleyway by the Fun Center where number 1 and 2 are, you wonder how they’ll act with your Catty and Bratty’s personalities. You both see them quietly nodding happily to some music on the radio, then number 1 saw Chara.

“Babe, babe look!”, Number 1 said extremely excited shaking Number 2’s shoulder, “It’s a customer!”

“*Long gasp* You’re right!”

They scrambled to their shop counter dusting it off and organizing anything that could be on it and then stepped behind it telling Chara to look. Written on these cards says the name of the item: Candy Bag, Cowboy Hat, A Gun (unloaded), and a key you know belongs to Napstabot. In your mind, you can’t help but think this pretty handy made paper bag of candy is leftover candy from almost empty bags of candy left in from the dump….eek! You quickly advise Chara not to buy that one. They bought the hat though, good thing it wasn’t dirty. This not only made Number 1 and 2 happy, but they started to tear up when Chara bought their hat.

“Why are you crying?”, Chara asked concerned still holding the hat.

“It’s just…you’re our first customer whose bought something from us”, Number 2 said wiping his tears away.

“Yea, we like never get anybody!”, Number 1 said crying some more.

“There, there”, Number 2 said comforting Number 1.

“I don’t think having a store next to the Fun Center is a good idea”, Chara suggested.

“Yea we know”, Number 1 said wiping away their tears, “But we like, have this dream of owning a store of our own!”

“So we tried setting up a store here…to know how it feels”, Number 2 said looking down and rubbing their hand.  

“And we liked the feeling, so we kept at it”, Number 1 said.

“Awww”, You and Chara said.

“But…there was one time someone did show up here”, Number 2 said bringing their head up.

“Who?”, Number 1 questioned.

“Don’t you remember babe?”, Number 2 asked looking at Number 1, “It was that bunny fellow, the one who gave us the delicious panini”

“Oh yeeaaa, he was like suuuper nice doing that”, Number 1 said happily.

“Hoodini?”, Chara questioned.

“Yea!”, Number 1 and 2 said looking at Chara, “Do you know him?!”, they both asked happily.

Chara nods their head.

“Omg! Can you like…”

“Tell him we are very thankful for what he did?”, Number 2 said finishing Number 1’s sentence.

“Sure…uuum, what are your name’s?”, Chara asked walking off, putting the hat on, then stopping.

“I’m Sole”, Number 1 said pointing to themselves with their thumb cheerfully.

“And I’m Deuce”, Number 2 said placing their hand on their chest with a polite smile.

“Okay thank you”, Chara said jogging off.

Moments later in the Lounge…

“What, you talked to those two?”, Hoodie asked surprised.

“Mmm hmm”, Chara said nodding, “They said they’re thankful for what you did for them”

“R-really?”, Hoodie said calmly surprised, “…well…this…makes my suspension pretty okay I guess”, he said rubbing his neck with a bashful like smile.

“Suspension?”

“Oh right…I didn’t tell you about that didn’t I?”

Chara shook their head, Hoodini kindly told them before customers showed. He was a dj hired by Nastabot long ago for his dance club and he was a really good dj too, however, he met Sole and Deuce. They were hungry and were about to look through the dump because…Undyne wasn’t there for them the past few days. Hoodie took pity on them, so he snuck some legendary guardians in his hoodie. That explains the nickname. He got caught afterward and has been put on suspension for 2 YEARS?! Yikes!

“But it’s not so bad…I guess, It’s relaxing here and the customers aren’t a problem a lot of time. Plus I only have a few more months until my suspension is over”, Hoodie said with a relaxing smile resting his arms on the countertop, “Are they still doing the shop thing?”

“Yea, I bought this Cowboy Hat”, Chara said pointing the hat they wore.

“Huh…not half bad”, Hoodie complemented, “…If you don’t mind…could you tell them I’m…glad they’re okay, and…if they want a job I know the right place that gladly accepts new employees”

“Sure, I’ll be back”, Chara said jogging off.

Moments later in the alleyway…

“WHAT??!!”, Sole and Deuce shouted at the same time.

“Yea, what do you say?”, Chara asked smiling.

“I don’t know”, Sole said concerned, “I don’t wanna lose our shop”

“But on the other hand…we could use the money”, Deuce said with a thinking face and folded arms.

“Hmm…hhhow about…you save the money you’ve earned to open a new shop?”, Chara said shrugging”

“That sounds like…

“A GREAT IDEA!!!”, Sole shouted excitedly finishing Deuce’s sentence.

“We can use our experiences to know how the shop business works…

“And use the money to buy better material and build our shop!”, Sole said excitedly hopping and finishing Deuce’s sentence again.

They started going on and on about ideas and ways they can have their shop be made, it’s really inspiring. Chara didn’t bother interrupting their chat and listen with a smile on their face.

“TELL HIM WE SAY YES!!!”, Sole and Deuce said together.

“But, wait…where will we be working?”, Deuce asked raising his eye brows.

“Uuuuh, hold on”

Back in the Lounge…

“They wanna know where they’ll be working”, Chara said to Hoodie.

“At Nastabot’s music and clothes store”, Hoodie said with one arm resting on the countertop.

“Okay thanks”

Back in the alleyway…

“*LOOOOOOOONNGG GAASSSP* NASTABOT’S STORE???!!!”, Sole shouted extremely loud and excitedly jogging in place.

“Omg omg omg, we will TOTALLY work there!”, Deuce agreed happily.

“TELL HIM WE SAID YYYEEESSS!!!”  

“Oookay”

Back in the Lounge…

“That was quick”, Hoodie said seeing Chara walk into the restaurant again, “My guess is they said yes?”

Chara nods as an answer.

“Okay tell them show up tomorrow and they can get started”

“Yes, alright”

Back in the alleyway…

“WHAT, TOMORROW??!!”, Sole shouted surprised placing both their hands on their face.

“We need to get ready babe!”, Deuce said to Sole.

“Yea!”, Sole quickly agreed, “Thank you so ssoooo much cutie~!”, he thanked hugging Chara then running off.

“You’ve really helped us”, Deuce said hugging Chara, “Here take this key, you’ll use this better than we could. Bye”, he said handing Chara a key then running off.

Awwww, how sweet~! You tell Chara about the key, but surprisingly they already know. How…oh right…the reset. You can what was in his house, Chara says it was filled with old music, mix tapes and, audio dairies. Cool! *Ring ring*

“Hello?”

“Chara are you okay?”, You both heard Undyne asked.

“Oh I’m fine Undyne, sorry I didn’t message you back”

“That’s okay, just tell me when you’re going to the core and I’ll guide you through it”

Oh snap! You and Chara completely forgot about that! Chara quickly made their way to the core’s entrance, but not before telling Chara to get at least two starshakes.
