undeniably the true antagonist to da2 and in my opinion a very clever representation of the chantry's frankly terrifying role in like. all of the major conflicts of da2. but also painting her as inaffably evil or acting out of some diabolical self-serving purpose is (imo) hugely missing the point

Suguru is actually just like you and I lmaoo, he's a pretty private person as well, he can keep up appearances during gatherings if he absolutely has to but would rather be at home drinking tea, so i think HE NOT ONLY UNDERSTANDS BUT LIKES THAT YOU'RE THIS WAY!!!! It honestly makes him find you even cuter (suguru operates in mysterious ways)He's really excited about this actually, this is something that happens once a year, a day alllll about you and you chose to spend it with him only, he could die happy. Suguru can spoil you in a million different ways and that includes lounging at home all day. Breakfast in bed is a must, you are getting your gifts, these are some nonnegotiables, he likes to take pictures of you as well toddler mom style 😭😭

He does go the extra mile tho, same with any occasion, your birthday HIS birthday (???) Your anniversary, valentines Day, it's always about you, and it is never overwhelming

hi. im here to kamukoma ramble. ok so i reeaaly hate how all kamumeshi Fan Content (which is basically all kamukoma content) waters down izuru to being the dominant one and servant to being his cute little dog like i feel like its so much more complex then that.

izuru was created to be subservient, to be smart enough to see through manipulation tactics and yet not care enough about himself to do anything to stop them, always doing something to serve someone else’s interests - and even when he does do one thing in his own interest (the killing game), it was largely because of his obsession with junko, so we see her still pulling the strings on him from beyond the grave (emphasized by his convo with her in his udg cameo). he doesn’t have power and he’s been designed not to want it. he’s been robbed of his humanity over and over again and been taught to accept it. he even explicitly states all of this in talent dev plan with taka

komaeda, on the other hand, is always framed with such heavy control over the narrative - he heavily influences dr2’s ending and takes that same puppeteering role in udg too. although he has that inferiority complex, he still holds so much power over everyone else, manipulating them like chess pieces. he is just as dangerous as izuru is, considering he has not only the intelligence but the motivation to act out like this, something izuru lacks.

and so this creates a really cool complexity where servant believes he’s meant to be subservient to izuru but this may not be wholly reflected in the way he acts, and izuru most definitely does not care for/about controlling servant. and, if izuru does take a domineering role, it’s because that’s what servant wants (especially after junko’s death, when he has no one left to place himself beneath), and so izuru’s still letting himself go with whoever the people surrounding him want him to be. he’s not with servant for the power trip, that goes completely against everything he’s ever been - because, in reality, IZURU is the one who exists to serve. to serve his creators, and then junko afterwards, even after her death. his purpose has always been assigned to him, not created by him.

both characters are fucked up and morally grey. both characters are the man, both characters are the god.

this is what i wish people would focus more on when writing their general character development and the development of their relationship. because they barely get any screen time you get lots of creative freedom and you can take this concept in either a “they are going to heal and get better together” route or a “they are doomed to always hurt each other in their codependency” route or some weird thing in between; again, personal preference, and if you want to keep izuru and hajime separate postgame this opens a whole new plethora of dynamics and development to write about after komaeda becomes himself again. the flexibility of their dynamic is whats so intriguing to me - kamukoma is a very complex and fluid idea that i wish more people would mess around with like this join me and we can play with them like putty

ngl, I am yet to read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and watch the adaptation, but one thing that's popping out to me is the amount of people I've seen who assuming that, because Katniss knows the Hanging Tree song, she must be related to Lucy Gray, almost entirely forgetting the source material and its author.

because there are no chosen ones in The Huger Games. Never have been. There are a lot of elements that border on magical realism/the supernatural in the novels, from the character perspectives, but there is no predestination: it is all choice. Katniss isn't special because she's related to someone, she's special because of what she chooses and what that means in the context she's in.

if Suzanne Collins did one thing is write a web of social constellations and memory in constant conversation with the present. It doesn't matter if Katniss is or not related to anyone in TBOSAS. what matters is oral tradition and folk culture of the districts, specially D12 and within that district, The Seam, cannot be controlled. that it exists regardless of Capitol control. that it will always exist regardless of Capitol control. it is in direct conversation with the irl experiences of BIPOC in Appalachia and the working class in Appalachia (and in many places of the world by similarity of irl circumstances due to colonisation and class struggle alone) who have rich oral traditions that constitute an important part of USAmerican Folk, but exist on its own right.

you could interpret it as them being related, sure. nothing stops you: it could be just a hc, it could be analysis with more or less textual evidence, that's up to you. but as people in fandom or who engage with the world of THG we shouldn't ignore this reading bc it's so, so blatant. it is right there. in the end, one of the greatest tools these characters had to overthrow, cheat and avoid the Capitol was the existence of a second history, a local, working class, brown kind of history that in real life and for the characters is taken as non-existent and not valuable for the people in power.

and because it is not of importance, because those people think the people they oppress are barely human and therefore incapable of "actual" culture, it creates a massive blind-spot. these people have the audacity to keep existing. believe me the reason why Katniss knows those songs is because the Seam had the audacity to keep singing — not because it was capital P political, or capital R Resisting. but simply because they existed, against all odds. they lived, against all attempts to exterminate them.

there will still be singing, in the dark times. Suzanne Collins knows that.

Tbh it’s better for both Solange and the Bishops that she doesn’t keep them in her Flock bc if she did keep them around their stay wouldn’t be exactly pleasant

She’s not sadistically torturing them or anything but rather the bishops end up ostracized from most of the Flock due to Solanges influence ( both intentionally and otherwise ) and bc a good chunk of her followers were former worshippers that were fucked over by them in some way or another ( an example being that Ellena was part of Leshys cult and was planned to be sacrificed after her parents made a deal with Leshy that he’d take her instead of the initial planned sacrifice ( one of her siblings ) ) so they don’t wouldn’t have the most positive reputation among Solanges followers ( I feel like some followers would be hostile/violent towards the bishops too )

I also don’t think she’d be willing to take any of them ( outside of Shamura ) to their temples either, I mean she literally only cleansed Shamura for the possibility of closure from them specifically along with them being the one she dislikes the least. She does not need to waste her energy on the other 3 as two of them are actively hostile towards her ( Leshy and Heket ) and the other she holds so much contempt for that she almost refuses to even find his relic ( Kallamar )

Solange also wouldn’t exactly care if they died either ( with the exception of Shamura since I do feel like she’d be concerned for their physical and mental wellbeing even if it’s only out of being a decent person ( plus her moral ocd ) rather than genuine concern but with the others she could kinda care less if they died out on a missionary or during a brawl gone wrong ). Granted it does depend on her relationship with Narinder bc if they’re on decent terms I think Solange would at least try to care

So basically the Bishops would be kinda miserable until their eventual death ( which would be a couple centuries later so it’d be a long time )

In particular Heket would be the most miserable out of the 4 bc I feel like she’d refuse to adapt or accept her fate ( I think that’s kinda canonish with the hymns of the unholy ). Like with the other 3 I can see them possibly adapting to their new lives or at the very least finding some sort of peace but with Heket I just can’t see it. Doesn’t help that Heket and Solanges relationship would be fucking awful ( like you think Solange and Narinders dynamic postgame before they find common ground is bad then Heket and Solanges dynamic is like 10x worse especially bc I feel like it takes longer for Heket to get worn down by Solange and they never find any common ground with eachother )

Look, I am not particularly invested in the characters or any hypothetical relationship between them, I broke up with the show midway through their season and thus have seen like five minutes of each of them, I specifically went out of my way to find a different reference picture for my bangs so that my hairdresser wouldn't get the wrong idea about my level of investment in these characters...
