Linktober Day 15; La Abu Ridge!
The blood moon snuck up on them while they’re clearing a monster camp. Good thing Link has a pocket ghost friend nobody knew about!
((What a familiar song… Zelda always had an ear for music. Maybe she can collect it for future analysis?))
Totk Au’s called Familiar Familiar, and focused on Link and Zelda being travel buddies through a post Upheaval Hyrule.
And here’s my patreon for Spoilers and Sketches!

I’m developing a whole winter holiday thing for a modern Hyrule (I’m using it for IAU at least) because I wanted a Christmas stand-in of some kind so I could have fun with that. I’m still working everything out, but here’s my basic ideas (and thanks to Tellie for letting me use her ancient hero idea!):
SO instead of just one day, there are four days of celebration called the goddesses festival. Each have different traditions, and the first day is always on the solstice.
For the first three, a special centerpiece is used. Families all have different ones, usually passed down by parents/grandparents, but they’re essentially fancy candleholders. They include a candle (sometimes multiple), a rounded base to hold water, and a spot to place greenery of some kind. These are symbolic of how the three goddesses are connected and how their powers intertwine in the world. It’s tradition for the women of the family to add to the centerpiece on the days necessary. The centerpiece is taken down at sunset on the fourth day, to symbolize the goddesses departure after creating the world.
The first day is Din’s day, day of power and fire. Many people host parties on this day, with lots of dancing and food. Games and sports are played, and bonfires are traditional as well. Lights are typically hung in and outside of the home as a symbol of Din’s fire, and a way to brighten the darkness of winter with the promise of coming light. The candle(s) of the centerpiece is lit on this day.
The second day is Nayru’s day, day of wisdom and water. This day is more subdued than Din’s, often spent in reflection and dwelling on the events of the past year. Music is played— often concerts are scheduled for this day— and people often go around the streets and sing to and with their neighbors. Some people choose to fast, though not many. The bottom of the centerpiece is filled with water on this day.
The third day is Farore’s day, day of courage and life. This day is also referred to as Hylia’s Eve, since the next day is Hylia’s day. People decorate their houses in greenery, often including an evergreen tree, and if the weather is good, kites are often flown, as an acknowledgement of Farore’s title of goddess of wind. Flags, banners, and ribbons are often also put up. A small wreath or some kind of plant is added around the centerpiece on this day.
- The biggest tradition of Farore’s Day is the legend that Farore’s first chosen, the Ancient Hero, flies across the world on his crimson bird and gives presents to children while they’re sleeping. He does this in memory of Hylia, as a gesture of his love for her and her love for her people.
The fourth and final day is Hylia’s day, the day of light. Presents are exchanged (supposedly delivered to the children by the Ancient Hero) and families gather together to celebrate Hylia’s love and her choice to become mortal to save her people from Demise. Traditions vary the most on this day, but family is the most significant thread. There’s often a large meal at some point, and at sunset the centerpiece is taken down.
Each of these days is especially significant to different cultures. Gorons and Gerudo put emphasis on Din’s Day, Zora put emphasis on Nayru’s Day, and Kokiri and other forest peoples put emphasis on Farore’s Day. Hylians put the most emphasis on Hylia’s Day, but celebrate the other three with equal gusto. Other places put specific emphasis on certain days, like Holodrum with Din’s Day for example. Specific traditions vary widely depending on geographic location and upbringing/heritage, but at a whole, the goddesses festival is the most widely celebrated holiday there is.

AUs I like and my one favorite thing about them:
@tealmaskmybeloved’s Toxic consequences au.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: An au Kieran made a deal with Dokutaro (aka pecharunt) and instead of going down the canon, he helps the Lousy three along with the peach to gain the real mask. And it’s up to Ogerpon, Carmine and the BB elite 4 to stop the plans of the Never-rotting peach.
Favorite thing: Kinda the authenticity of this for me. And it being the first AUs that got my Pokémon hyperfixation rising back from the dead really helped me out.
@skyedancer2006’s Bridged Toxicity au.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: An au where Kieran, after making a deal with pecharunt, painfully transforms into a reptomammalian dragon creature as he deals with the struggle of his new form.
Favorite thing: The body horror and themes of what it is to be truly human. I honestly enjoy this topic of post-humanism or as I like to call it: “the altered self horror”. Things like all tomorrows, An American werewolf in London, or any other kind of fiction involving body horror in any way I really enjoy!
Check out this video for a more in-depth look at “the altered self horror” genre.
youtube
@indigodiskmybeloved’s Mochi Desires au.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: The “what if” scenario where everything wife’s down a rollercoaster down. Nemona never got a perfect rival, team star is expelled and Arven’s Mabosstiff dies of its injuries. Pechakeen, a glimmora and the half of the now human Geeta, controls the three and forces them under their will.
Favorite thing: the tone and somberness of it all. And yes, this is coming from someone who prefers happy endings over downers, but considering how the AU and the tone, this doesn’t feel like a simple “toxic chained au” that can be stopped with a Pokémon battle. No. This is not that kind of au. Here, there was no Florian/Juliana. There was no helping them out. And in their place, are two siblings forced to take the role of the hero. It kinda has a somber feel of “oh god” for the poor children unable to climb out of the pit of no return… it kinda reminds me of Giant of the skies’ ornithocheirus in a sense.
Tumblr media
but on a more “light hearted” note:
@ezlo-x’S Lost Family au
Tumblr media
Synopsis: A botw/Totk au that deviates heavily from the canon of the era of the wilds. 17 years after a great calamity, Sheik and Ganondorf must save Hyrule from the threat of the Scourge king, with help of allies old and new, to bring balance and slay the ancient malice king.
Favorite thing: The character designs and vibe. Ezlo’s job at redesigning the Gorons, Zora and Rito is something I genuinely enjoy as they are given more realistic traits like the Gorons being more akin to dinosaur people. All her art has a sort of nostalgic vibe like this could be from a cartoon from the late 90’s to early 2000’s like samurai jack or a studio Ghibli movie. The art style really elevates the tone and narrative of this unique BOTW/TOTK au in a way that I honestly prefer over the original (I still love Botw/totk btw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, this is probably one of my favorite TLOZ AUs out there.
@sp1derc1der’s Draco Scaled Au
Tumblr media
Synopsis: an au where the main antagonists (along with some other characters) are weredragons, beings with both a dragon and human form.
Favorite thing: The dragon designs. Yes, I know, the one who likes dragons likes the au. But it goes deeper than just that. Each of the designs are all completely unique from one another in one way or another.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Diminutive “baby” dragons like Hau, Penny or Marnie,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To hulking leviathans like Archie, Ghetsis and Cynthia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From flightless drakes and lindwyrms like Maxie, Saturn and Cyrus,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To great Soarers like Zinnia and Lysandre who probably put the great Azdarchids of yore to shame.
So yeah! Just a funny lil’ thing about my favorite AUs I like rn.

I know this is probably just because it was the first Zelda game I owned and played to completion, but there's just something super specific about Twilight Princess on a narrative level that I just haven't really seen in any other Zelda game yet. What I mean is... it just feels like a private, or secretive story. Granted, most Zelda games aren't really the grand fantasy epic that some fans might have you believe they are, with most Links not even being recognized as heroes for most of their journey or afterwards. Like, in Wind Waker Link is just a travelling kid who occasionally helps some people, but is only really recognized by the Rito as a hero. Or in Skyward Sword, most NPCs know Link on a rather personal level, but don't really know what's going on with him. But I don't know, with Twilight Princess it just feels still a bit more... secretive, personal, or whatever you want to call it.
Link is from a tiny village at the southernmost edge of Hyrule, a tiny place that in Hyrule proper, few barely even seem to know. Hyrule in general is super populated even more so than pre-timeskip Ocarina of Time, but it's all completely localized in Castle Town, where Link is little more than a face in a crowd. And while the people in town obviously have an idea of something going on in the land, they only really notice Lake Hylia drying up due to Zora's Domain being frozen over (which no one even really knows about), and Ganondorf's barrier appearing around the castle.
Everything that Link does takes place in forgotten, ancient ruins and out in the wilderness, or at the very outskirts of society, in tiny villages or with the other races. And the chief of the Gorons never really learns what Link did for him, and the Zora don't even know or learn that it was him who saved them. All that Link does in and around Castle Town is meanwhile in back alleys and during stormy night, beneath the town itself in enormous sewer systems that doesn't even have a proper entrance that you learn about. And even in Ordon Village, where everyone knows Link, they also barely got an idea of what is going on.
The central conflict is also something that barely anyone even knows about. Ganondorf isn't some great demon king, he's just a thief that was already dealt with ages ago. Both his story, and the backstory of the Twili isn't even something that an actual person tells you about, or can tell you about, and you learn about them instead from the otherworldly light spirits and sages. And I know Wind Waker was similar in that regard, where the actual conflict was something that few even really knew about. But I think what makes Twilight Princess different in this regard is that at face value, its conflict is something you'd expect to see in a fantasy epic, with literal hordes of darkness invading the world. But then its literally baked into the story that most of the people don't, can't know what's going on. The Resistance is already noteworthy in that they actually put to together that something is going on... and they're only four people, five if you count Telma.
I don't know if any of this really makes any sense, but I don't know. Twilight Princess just always felt particularly private and secretive to me, and that's the best I can put it. And that's just something I always love about the game.
Also that true form Midna is hot.

I’m thinking about tears of the kingdom again while watching afterthought’s video on how they handled the sequel and I’m sitting here thinking, you know what would have been good?
Like I love ganondoodle’s take with addressing the difference in the gloom and how it related to the shiekah tech, don’t get me wrong.
But if they wanted to give us Wild doing the adventure again, they could have just.
Sent Link back.
Instead of sending back Zelda, send Link. Make Rauru less OP maybe? and have a version of Link that has been massively damaged and is now stranded in the past with no master sword, no shiekah tech, no walking armory of OP weapons or fairy-blessed armor, and a 10 thousand year old version of the guy he just killed, except this one is a strategist with an army instead of a feral dust cloud with a possessed army of half-rotted tech.
Give us Link having to fight his way back up from the top, facing older and more dangerous versions of the monsters he knows and staring up at floating islands that he’s never seen before.
Everyone he meets is new, but most are hauntingly familiar, and maybe a few of the older beings, like the Deku Tree, even recognize that he’s out of place here.
Give us more weird battle strategy stuff like the siege on Gerudo, except this time, it’s helping a group of Gerudo at an oasis protect their fledgling trade camp from Gibidos or even helping the king of Hyruke repel an enemy invasion of a fort.
Give us Link helping a Zora sage protect her temple from a corrupting spirit that threatens her home and hunting down what could be poisoning the Gorons, sneaking through with potions made from half-familiar ingredients.
So much of TOTK is spent telling us that Ancient Things are returning, but they could have given us so much of that by just sending Link to the past. We could have avoided the awkward ‘everyone only kind of knows this kid who saved the kingdom that they definitely met and interacted with significantly’ AND it would have left the perfect opening for Queen “massive fucking history nerd” Zelda to find traces of Link in the little surviving history and going to the dragons or the Deku Tree or the goddesses themselves to try and pull him back to her time, but failing due to her lack of skill with her time powers, only serving to link their souls, but needing to do more before she could pull him back. It would have given her an opportunity to see her interact with her kingdom and see how much she did or did not rely on Link to help her navigate the world. Everyone’s stilted conversations make much more sense if they’re talking to royalty rather than a half-feral knight.
Now she’s the one who has to prove herself to the koroks with all their puzzles and maybe you could even have the shrines be Zonai tests of intellect and Link learns things or gains abilities, some of which he can’t use, but Zelda can through their soul link by connecting at dragon shrines that survived to present day in a system similar to the dragon tears.

Do you think that, even if he don't see it, the Champion's are still remembered in TOTK? I mean... the summit of Mount Ploymous was renamed Mipha's Court and tbe statue of her from BOTW was moved there so she could watch over the Domain. Revali's Landing still exists in TOTK. Daruk's face is still on the mountain in Goron City. I haven't seen much mention of Urbosa but I'm sure there's something for her too somewhere I just haven't found yet!
See, this was something I had an issue with in the new game. The champions are kind of just afterthoughts. I mean, on the one hand it’s been over a century, so it makes sense. But on the other hand… they were so integral to the last game it feels like they’re just brushed aside. Like, Teba received Revali’s bow and there isn’t a single mention of Revali! The entire time I was in the Rito Village they’re like “yeah there’s this dumb ancient melody about a flying ship isn’t that far fetched” and I’m like DUDE I LITERALLY SAVED YOU FROM A FLYING SHIP A FEW YEARS AGO.
People in Hyrule have as good a sense of history as people in Star Wars, apparently. At least Mipha’s still mentioned a little, which makes sense since the Zora are so long lived that many of them were alive when she was. I get the champions aren’t really important to most people anymore but like… good grief. How can there be no mentions of Urbosa, a chief of their people who fought against the Calamity? You know, the same Calamity they’re fighting now??
Sorry for the rant lol, the lack of continuity in the story is my biggest beef with the game. Like I know Nintendo doesn’t care about continuity, especially if it’s gonna interfere with the new story they want to tell, and you know what that’s fine, but when it’s a direct sequel—
Sigh. I really love playing totk, don’t let this rant fool you, that aspect just bothers me.

Zelda question number #2567244723 - so in Spirit Tracks the land that became New Hyrule already had it's own people and history way beforehand, and now I'm wondering...for how long? Because it sounds like it's been at least several hundred years since Malladus was sealed away so does that mean this place existed even before the Flooding? And what are the wider implications of that?
Ooooh, I like this question. It's a world building question. ^_^
It's been a while since I last played this one, so I had to go take a minute to refresh my memory on it. (Thank you various Zelda fandom wikis.) We know the history of the land is that Link and Tetra (and her pirate crew) found the land that became new Hyrule after the events of the Phantom Hourglass and discovering that the inhabitants already there - the Lokomo - were friendly and welcoming and possibly that the Zora and Gorons had already settled in the area, decided this was the place they were being called to in order to create their new Kingdom.
They started bringing over the people of the Islands - at least, anyone willing to go settle the new land - and founded the new Kingdom, taught by the Lokomo no doubt on how to use the ancient tracks to travel quickly to bring supplies to the people of new Hyrule. A hundred years later, we get the events of the game Spirit Tracks and the first real look at what the Lokomo are like.
The land itself is supposed to be guarded by the Spirits of Good - based on the name I'd guess they're meant to be similar to the Spirits of Light from Twilight Princess. They're the ones who sealed the Demon King away and used the Spirit Tracks as that seal. It's interesting to me that this tale is very similar to the plot of Skyward Sword; I've always wondered if a piece of Demise escaped to incarnate as the Demon King, thinking that it was far enough away from the 'cursed lands guarded by Hylia' to cause mischief unopposed only to get body slammed by the Spirits of Good.
At any rate, this story is one told by the 'first settlers' of the land and since I'd like to believe that Link and Tetra didn't commit colonial violence to found their Kingdom, it seems likely that the first settlers were the Lokomo and they may have been dying out already.
Why do I think they were dying out? Well, Spirit Tracks we encounter seven of them and they're all pretty isolated. They're largely carrying out sacred tasks meant to help maintain the Demon King's and it's heavily implied that the Lokomo are not particularly common people in Hyrule. It seems unlikely Link's ever heard of them or encountered them before he gets dragged into saving Hyrule, nor do we see any Lokomo living among the people of Hyrule's towns/cities either.
Of the seven Lokomo we meet, Bryne is on of the two youngest and he was previously Anjean's apprentice who failed his apprenticeship out of a desire for power over purpose. But considering that of the Lokomo who are actually doing their sacred jobs - which fills the space usually taken by the Sages rather neatly - only Gage appears to be young... it seems likely he was also an apprentice around the same time Bryne was, or shortly before, and actually succeeded at his apprenticeship. The other five Lokomo guardians are all kinda... old. And none of them have apprentices.
My suspicion is that the Lokomo saw the descendants of Old Hyrule and the touch of the goddess upon them - the pointy ears that the Lokomo also have, indicating they're also touched by the gods in some way - and were hoping that the people of New Hyrule could become their successors in maintaining the seal. Since they were longer lived, they could watch over the land and it's new people to see if Hylians could connect to the land's magic and take over for the Lokomo despite their much shorter lives. And I think the events of the game, with Link and Zelda, proved that Hylians not only could, but did.
Of course the question of why the Lokomo are dying out is one I can't really figure an answer to, though it certainly makes sense in why they'd welcome settlers from a far away place to not only take up residence but found an entirely new kingdom run by the colonizers and not the indigenous inhabitants. If there just weren't enough Lokomo to maintain a community, much less a kingdom... having new caretakers to the land would have been a welcome sign from the Spirits of Good that their efforts as custodians of the Spirit Tracks wouldn't be in vain as their people continued to dwindle away.
But your question goes further back than the founding of new Hyrule. And maybe that would explain why the Lokomo are so few in number compared to the Hylians and Humans of Old Hyrule. Hyrule was a temperate, blessed land where the fields were fertile, food was plentiful, and everything was below the now-current sea level. Which means New Hyrule is up in an area that would have taken the equivalent of climbing to the top of Death Mountain to reach. And while New Hyrule is similar in size to Old Hyrule, I don't think it was always similar weather/temperature wise.
If Old Hyrule were founded during, say... something similar to an ice age, but was close enough to the equator to still have a comfortable temperature range and seasonal changes, then the flooding was likely caused by the goddesses raising the overall temperature of the planet, melting the ice caps enough to flood Hyrule... and causing distinct changes in the weather across the world. The land that became New Hyrule was higher in elevation than old Hyrule and also likely further away from the temperate zone of the equator.
Or... it was really, really cold all the time. Until the floods came, the ice age ended, and the land thawed out to become a more comfortably habitable place. It could be that the Lokomo were not well adapted to these changes in their habitat and that in flooding Old Hyrule as a sort of nuclear option to stop Ganondorf and the piece of Demise within him... they kinda screwed over their precautions for maintaining the seal over the Demon King and the piece of Demise within that guy. But of course the Hylians provided a handy bandaid. With Ganondorf dead and the piece of Demise within him being dealt with by the Master Sword beneath the ocean waves (goodbye Fi, you were a bit annoying but the switch version of the game made you less so and I did like you regardless...) meant that the Hylians could get transferred over to take up guardianship of a different piece of Demise.
Win-win. The displaced Hyrulians get a new home, the Lokomo get successors capable of utilizing the magic of the Spirit Tracks. Everybody's happy. (And the gods involved in the flooding can totally pretend this was their intention from the start.)
As for when exactly Malladus showed up in these new lands... I suspect it happened around the time Zelda sent Link back in time. The timeline splitting to create the child and adult timelines could have easily allowed another piece of Demise to escape confinement, and rather than stick around where the piece in Ganondorf had just failed and been sealed, it ran away to a land of ice far beyond the Gerudo desert and high above the lands of Hyrule. Far enough away that surely no one would stand to oppose it's rise to power.
Since the only thing we really know about the time that passed between the end of Ocarina of Time in the adult timeline and the start of The Wind Waker is that ages had passed between the two, long enough that the tale of the Hero of Time had passed into Legend. So it definitely could have already been a few hundred years at that point, especially with it having been quite some time since the flood happened as well. Which would match up well with Malladus having been sealed away for hundreds of years.
Of course, the wider implications of the land that becomes New Hyrule existing before the flooding things is... there is a whole planet out there to explore and Old Hyrule was definitely in some kind of quarantine to try and keep Demise from spreading. And that quarantine totally failed. Terribly. They're gonna be finding bits and pieces of Demise all over the place for generations to come. If he can take the form of an evil train? I wanna know where evil squirrel Demise is hiding. (I jest, but it would be hilarious, no?)
(Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Hyrule is separated from the rest of the world via mountains on one side, ocean on two sides, and a giant chasm to the fourth. It's a quarantine, I tell you. Gotta protect the rest of the planet from whatever the latest Hyrulian nonsense with Demise is.)

Well, I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to finish my tloz comic.. I love my story but I don’t know how to put it into a comic TnT. But I don’t want my story to stay in my mind only so I’m gonna write the plot here.
I think I will still draw them, you can ask me questions about the story, or ask about the character. Maybe one day I will continue the comic TnT
Sorry, english is not my first language, and I don’t use a translator.
THE STORY OF HERO OF PEACE
My Link was adopted by a guerudo. At the age of five, some monster came into his house and her mother got killed while she tried to protect him. He ran away and end up in Rito, where he got found by Amy, a girl who got adopted by the chief of the Piaf. Link stays some days with Amy and Icari, her brother. But the monster found out that Link was in Rito so Amy decided to help him to got see the Goron because « they can help ». The Goron actually help them by throwing a dragon at the monster.
After this event, Link wanted to go home, and Amy wanted to see the desert. But, they are kids, they don’t have any sense of direction so they end up in a weird forest called « the Eclipse ». The two children found a weird mask and Amy tries it. She ends up to see the Coco, and they need help because their chief is controlled by a monster. Amy and Link help them and fight the monster but Link got deaf on his right ear. The Coco decided to build an earing aid for him. The Coco’s chief understand that Link is the hero of the story but the two kids actually don’t know the legend, so, he explain the legend.
Link and Amy decided to go to the castle to see the princess. And basically, Zelda got kidnapped so Link and Amy have to save her. But before fighting Ganondorf, they got separated so Link had to fight Ganondorf alone. He won but he doesn’t want to kill him and still believe Ganondorf can be a good person and he’s just evil because of the legend. BUT Fafore doesn’t agree on that so she takes the control of Link to kill Ganondorf by herself. Amy arrives before Fafore kills Ganondorf and a fight start between the two. After some times, Link manages to have the control of his body back and he realise that the story can’t be change. But he said something like « you want me to be the hero ? Fuck it, I’ll be the villain ».
Link decided to fight the legend by « returning » it. Normally, wisdom got kidnapped by the force and the courage has to save her. Link decided that the courage kidnapped the force and the wisdom has to defeat the courage. Amy promised to Link that she’s gonna help Zelda to defeat him because she knows that Link isn’t evil, he’s just playing (but Zelda doesn’t know). In the end, Zelda scelled Link for one month. After that month, they all realise that they broke the legend, but to be sure of that, Ganondorf gave the force to Amy. I don’t know what Ganondorf is going to do after that, maybe just travelling outside Hyrule.
After that, it’s seem that this is the end, but no. Link and Amy got a call from the Coco’s chief : something wrong with a ruins inside the forest. The two wanted to check but Zelda wanted to come too. The trio explore the ruins and after some times, they got stuck in a dark room. Someone appears, named Soul, he said he’s someone like the Master Sword but he « protect » the legend. Link, Amy and Zelda broke the legend so they have two choices : have a punishment or the legend will continue. The trio decided that they will take the punishment. Link got teleported in the past, during Skyward sword, he travels with the hero of the past, sees him struggle in dungeon but Link can’t help him because he’s like a ghost, a spectator. After the event, Link got teleported into the next hero’s story and it will be always like that : teleported in the beginning of the legend, travel with the ancient hero, see him struggle, win, loose, die sometimes, watch him save the princess, finish the legend, and get teleported in the next hero’s story. After five years, he finally saw every story of every hero. He got back into the ruins and realise that Zelda was stuck with the ancient princess and Amy with the villain.
SOME FUN FACT
- During the legend, when Link and Amy needed to go see the Zora, there was a festival and because of some weird things, the Zora married Link and Amy. The kids didn’t wanted to say no because they didn’t know what was a wedding and they « didn’t wanted the Zora to hate them ». They realise after that, it’s not normal to make two kids marry. It’s a joke between them now. I have to say that I do not support those thing, Link and Amy consider themselves as siblings, the Zora have different culture and doesn’t count the age in the same way as the Hylian because they live longer in my story, if Link and Amy said no, they wouldn’t have done it, and if Link and Amy knew what was a weeding, they would have say NO.
- Miles is the child of Malon, he take care of the Lonlon’s farm. He accepts and helps everyone (including Yigas, he doesn’t know that they are bad) and the farm become a house where Link, Amy and Zelda come and spend some times together
- Zelda and Miles love each other but they didn’t confess. Amy wants to make a surprise weeding for them, Link wants to help.
- Link always makes sure that Amy is more powerful than him if Fafore manages to take control of his body again.
- Link mades a promise : if one day he sees the ancient heros again, he’s gonna protect them.

Sonia sketch concepts before / after founding Hyrule in my a3!totk au.....
if you know me I usually replace the tloz characters with a3 ones, but in the case of Yukio's wife, she's kind of a non-character with only a connection to Izumi. In my au Izumi is completely disconnected from Yukio (I'm saving queen from her daddy issues) so having the unnamed character of Yukio's wife/Izumi's mom would really just be me creating an OC. Meanwhile, Yukio is replacing Rauru in my au, which means Sonia, since her role is just being as Rauru's wife, would simply be cut if I didn't just add her to my au!
Thus, a3!totk Sonia was born :3 I did treat her a BIT like an OC, seeing as her entire personality was "Zelda's motherly mom" (gross 🤢) so I did a bit of work to allow her to exist in my personal vision of Hyrule and the early lands.
For one, in my au Sonia was born as the daughter of the High Priestess in the Tribe of Hylia. The Tribe of Hylia is a matriarchy theocracy that is ruled over by the High Priestess, who functions as a spiritual and government leader. As a large tribe, there are other priestesses below the High Priestess that act in her stead spread amongst the Great Plateau, where the largest Tribe of Hylia resides (there are smaller, scattered tribes as well). The High Priestess is not an inherited role, but one said to be chosen by the Goddess Hylia herself in a sacred ritual, out of the available Priestesses.
As such, Sonia did not grow up being groomed for the role. She exceled in the wilderness, becoming a well known hunter in her tribe. It was her friendship with fellow tribesman Yukio that taught her the respect she has for earth and nature itself, as well as teachings from her mother about Force and how it flows in all living beings. This type of knowledge makes her proficient and respectful. This earns her the respect and admiration of her tribe. That respect has turned into a bit of an uprising in the Tribe. Many people feel that Sonia's wisdom and efficiency makes her a leader of the people, and that she should become the next High Priestess. Others say the position must be ordained by the Goddess, or she will be a false Priestess. Sonia herself is a strong leader and knows this, but is unsure whether she is fit to be a religious leader like her mother.
As you can see, Sonia ends up marrying Yukio and together, they re-found the ancient crownlands of Hyrule, the land ruled by the Goddess Hylia. With King Yukio as the religious figurehead (very controversial among the loyalist) and Queen Sonia acting as the primary ruler, many hylians, gorons, and even zora came together to reclaim the blessing of the Goddess.
I didn't wanna sketch all the details on her dress ngl but it's just the canon one fhfhghb + I toyed with the idea but ending up deciding that the tribes of hylians (Hylians, Sheikah, & Zonai) each have a sacred symbol that is tattooed on the head of their leader.

Finished the first dungeon in ALttP.
I know they were a later addition, but considering OoT I can't help but wonder where all the races are? I mean, sure, there's Zoras attacking me from the river and the Geldman were called Gerudo Men in the Japanese, but where did the Kokiri and Gorons go? Hell, Gerudo Men, when Gerudo are all female bar one male born every 100 years?
Did the King of Hyrule take advice from Lord British and banish all non-humans from the kingdom after Ganon was sealed? Or did they go the genocide route? But considering the girls we save are meant to be descendants of the Sages, does that mean that the current humans are the result of Hylians assimilating the other races and breeding with them? Even the childish Kokiri? That might explain why the Hylians are treated as an ancient race despite the Imprisoning war only being 3-4 generations prior. But that would mean the Hylian Eugenics program only started around a hundred years prior but by that time the old language has been forgotten!
And this isn't me being an adult overthinking it. I had these thoughts back when I played ALttP on my GBA trying to link it to OoT This is truly the darkest timeline, and I haven't even gotten to the cartoon yet!

BOTW AU, Just want to say I'd make a fck ton of heat resistant potions for Ingo and Emmet and take the to Death Mountain to see the rails. It's not as good as an actual train track but it's close but do you think it would be something like that that makes them twig that Reader is the hero? Or would it have to be the Gorons bragging about what we did?
They would probably be ecstatic to see the rails!
In the BotW submas au, I like to imagine they found ancient Sheikah blueprint’s for a train, and wish to build it for transport around Hyrule.
They describe it to you, and you bring them some heat resistant potions, and take them to see the mine carts.
It’d probably help them get a better grasp on the blueprints!
Though if you show them all the tricks with the minecarts you can do (like flying with them…) they’d probably almost die of a heart attack.
You’d get a scolding for not following ‘safety’ protocols. What safety protocols? The ones they just made. No more making mine carts fly.
You make no promises.
I also imagine they’d probably figure out you are the hero before then. BUT the idea you just don’t say anything, and gorons are just super happy to see you and call you hero, much to the twins confusion is hilarious to me.
“Wait, hero? What did they do?”
Goron: *points at you* “They calmed our Divine Beast! We owe them for saving the town!”
“They WHAT”

u and pirate lady go to hyrule, encounter king of hyrule that was the voice of boat, king explain that gods protected hyrule and then rained until kingdom got underwater, but people got ordered to continue above water nation from ancestors of u and pirate lady
king tell pirate lady her necklace is triforce of wisdom, and that she is last heir of hyrule, the princess zela (is zelda a title?!), pirate lady confused (who wouldnt?), king transform her into princess, now she pale and has a dress, king tell is too dangerous for zelda so she gotta stay
king ask u to go back and make sword recover power, then disappear like ghost and guide u out, u need to check 2 temples were sages are to recover power, also triforce of courage of link got separate in 8 an are scattered in sea, u need to find them
kidnap a fairy
queen fairy give u power arrow of fire and ice which is nice, tho she kinda creepy
oh thats a big piggy
learn to spin uncontrollably with the sword and make your master cry
find the earth temple, the sage is a zora which is ironic, u need to get a new sage to regain sword power, sage will be decendant with harp, u find rito attendant girl, again ironic for the earth temple that its not a goron
bring bird girl to temple, enter with song, oh there are undead in there, right, shadow hands too, this temple looks more like a tomb than a temple
defeat boss, play song in symbol of triforce to empower sword, now u gotta go to wind temple to finish power up, sage has to stay in temple
find wind temple, sage was a kokiri, new one is a korok, the one u saved in deku tree island, play song and enter with korok
better grappling hook my beloved!
defeat giant sand worm, empower sword, return above, hear that ganon has disappear and fortress is empty, boat king worried about zelda and tell u to get all 8 shards of triforce to help u
u find triforce charts but u need to decipher them, tingle helps with that, get all shards and return to underwater castle, triforce of courage is inside u now so u are the hero of winds
get in castle but statue of link destroyed, open passage open already, u see zelda but she disappear, ganon laugh and send monsters, get out of castle and go ganon tower thats in same underwater space, fight memory of prev bosses, get light arrow, its like a one shot of everything
in last room all floor is covered in water, u find zelda in a bed and ganon over her whatching her sleep, like a creep, ganon transform in watery mecha demon boar? also its a puppet, 2nd phase is spider puppet, using reflection in water u know where it falls, 3rd phase snake
fight end but ganon go up with zelda still passed out, u follow, top of tower ganon fight with fists and u lose sword, u too tired, ganon get power of triforce but king get there first and get wish, wish make protective bubble fail and ocean start getting in
ganon laugh, zelda wake up and has sword and give it to you, ganon put out 2 katanas and fight start, zelda helps with arrows until ganon get tired and knock her out again, tho she wake up to help again
u team with zelda using shield and stab ganon in head, he become stone with master sword still in it, u win, king say farewell and ocean get in, u and zelda protected by magic so no drown
u both back in surface but zelda look like pirate lady again, rito prince find u and pirates too, ur sister with them, oh the 2 sages are with the pirates too
so thats it, u will continue your ocean adventure and all that

Still more thoughts about Tears of the Kingdom (SPOILERS! like seriously. in this one)
I love this game
So much
I had to find a guy for a quest but was like
"Im going to check out this well first"
AND BOOM HE WAS THERE
Alao the brown breakable rock break with one hit, blue with two and black with three
Seemingly
Matches the bombs it takes to break them
Tulin, whose village is dying, watching me search for pretty clothing
"Link please my family is dying Link we have to go Link"
The frostbite set is stunning
Finally a hairdo that lets Link have long hair
I hate the Sages
Not really but my god did they make their AI absolute trash
Theyre always in the way except when you need them to solve a puzzle
And if you have more than one Avatar present good luck getting the one you need
I HATE THE WIND TEMPLE BOSS
Not as much as I hated Queen Gibdo but
Why was crossing a spider and scorpion necessary
"Brave Fledgling"  what if I cried
Tulin is so good
So is this making it canon that the time 10 000 years ago was still after every other game
I dont know the timeline is weird
But if there was both Zora and Rito at the time of Rauru
This is so confusing
Ive both heard and seen Rauru sacrifice himself multiple times now can these dead Sages give me new info
Zelda my beloved
Marry me please
Also so the only other Demon King we have ever had was Demise so is Ganondorf him or after him
WHAT IS THE TIMELINE HERE
The Sage calls Tulin "my brave fledgling"
Someone call me something so loving one day
Tulin is so excited to be a Sage
He is so happy to fight alongside Link
Hes so happy to save the world
I love him
What a boy
Boys will be boys is from now on only about Tulin
WAIT IS EVEN HE TALLER THAN LINK
Shortest Hylian
I got a third ring
Bring a gerudo bow to this boss fight if you can it makes life so much easier
I havent been to Death Mountain at all yet
Done all other Temples and fully mapped Hyrule before ever going near Gorons
The extra snow melted
TEBA GAVE TULIN THE GREAT EAGLE BOW
IM CRYING
REVALI IM SO PROUD OF OUR BOY *shakes the ghost of Revali*
PSSHHH YUNOBO LOOKS DUMB AS SHIT
I HATE HIM
Was already my least favorite in BOTW
But now he is a major asshole too
Fuck that
Bastard
Im not helping him
Im gonna go blow up his company
If this guy becomes a Sage I swear
I'll drown him in Death Mountain myself
The ember headdress is probably the best headpiece in the entire game
The Ember set is genuinely the best set
Its so pretty
Im gonna go see what these look like dyed
After that beating up Yunobo
But fashion comes first
IF YOU DYE THE EMBER HEADSET IT DYES LINKS HAIR
BLUE HAIR LINK
PINK HAIR LINK
BEST DAY EVER
THE SAME GOES FOR THE FROST OUTFIT
I love Cece
She is the only person matching my love of fashion in this game
I just realised why the evil Zelda is wearing Zonai clothes
Omg
Smart
Or maybe Im dumb
"Oh Yunobo was wearing a mask making him evil" no Yunobo is just like that
This sucks I hate everything to do with Death Mountain
Worst place
I have to use the machines AND GO TO THE DEPTHS??? NOOO
Nintendo you will be hearing from my lawyers
When I die Im going to ask Rauru wtf were the Zonai doing in the depths
No because if youre going to have a cutscene and then make a second cutscene three steps further just fucking make it one cutscene
Yunobo is a "young little rock"
Left that for now
Found Champions leathers
Found Royal Guard boots??
They were in the king's study
King's diary wasnt there so like is it canon Zelda was able to read it?
Misko was a good guy actually, hiding all these clothes for me
Me, in the depths: I wonder where this strange Sheikah tower leads
The Yiga hideout in Akkala:
The only ancient sheikah tech still working is Hateno Tech Lab travel point
I spent some time in the depths and FOUND THE ANCIENT CENTRAL MINE
Fought Kohga
GOT AUTOBUILD
Finally the shrine censor
And travel medallion? You treat me so well
Already had that prototype
ALSO GETTIN SENSOR+ IMMEDIATLY
Badass feeling
Omg Robbie's compendium database is so cute
Got all three upgrades immediatly
Fully stocked purah pad
WAIT THREE TRAVEL MEDALLIONS???
BASED
MY FAVORITE MONEY MAKER IS BACK
I like to kill the hebra great game because they drop gourmet and prime meat and cooking those and they sell for a good price
Horse and bullet time
Many coins
Zelda's memories are so sad
Been giving my friends a fashion show of my favorite clothing
I am again so gay for Sonia and Zelda
My god
ZELDA
BABYGIRL
ZELDA I FORBID THIS
ZELDA YOU YOU
ZELDA
ZELDA
NO NO NO NO NO DONT
MY DEAREST ZELDA
ZELDA
MY LOVE
I am sobbing crying screaming
Im so upset
Zelda being the light dragon is so unfair for her
She deserved happiness and freedom
Not losing her humanity and personhood
YOU CAN MAKE ELEMENTAL WHIPS
Kinky
I went into the strange thunder cloud
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS
Why is it taking me into the depths
Not again
Alright Sage of Spirit
I'll make your mech suit for you
That took a while
But owl head statue
Mineru my beloved
Oh.my god this is hell
Worst part of this game so far
EASILY
DONT MAKE ME FUCKING CONTROL THIS WHEN THE CONTROLS ARE THE WORST THING EVER CONCIEVED
Im leaving this temple also undone I DONT CARE THIS FUCKING SUCKS
I hate it
Fuck this
Why do game devs come up with shitty awful bad as hell stuff to do in their games AND MAKE THAT MANDATORY
I just quit the game no lie
Fuck that
I did it and I was being dramatic, it wasnt that hard
Mineru is so goddamn gorgeous
They designed this game for me specifically
I should get back to drawing furries
Mineru holding my hand which is her brother's hand
Tears
Mineru I love her
I have not beaten Fire Temple yet
I just cant
Depths
Darkness and puzzles and fire
Also dont like Yunobo
I feel so bad for Mineru
Zelda :(
Why doesnt Link get a secret stone
RAURU WAS MINERU'S LITTLE BROTHER ::'ÖÖ
Where did Zelda's special stone come from when its a time stone and Ganon stole Sonia's time stone
Mineru I will not go get the Master Sword
Demon Ganon is hot idc
RAURU WHY WOULD YOU
Ganon: "Link. I look forward to meeting him" goes into slumber
Damn all of Rauru disintergrated but his hand
I have to find the light dragon
Eugh
The dragons dont have schedules in this apparently
Sadly
Mineru so was in love w Zelda
Everyone is putting too much weight on Link's shoulders
Fine I'll finish the fire temple
*2 hours later* I hate it here
I did scam those puzzles as much as I could
Worst puzzles
Worst boss too
Marbled gohma
Fucking awful
I nearly died about 11 times
Rip my food storages
I really need to cook more
Special stone for Yunobo booo
Little rock is adorable pet name tho
Ancestor Goron is fine af
WHY DOES NO ONE MENTION THE DIVINE BEASTS BUT YOU CAN FIND THE DIVINE BEAST HELMS AND NO ONE MENTIONS THE BEASTS
Ive heard this story four times now
Fucking hell cant we get anything new
Someone give me a 200k word fanfic where Ganon awakens but is not evil
I need Ganon Zelda Link friendship
End the cycle
Watching Brian David Gilbert and Unraveleds rn
LMAO YUNOBO'S SPECIAL STONE IS ON HIS DICK
We have established this is not a PG channel
Ok fine I like Yunobo
Daruk was better tho
Ive found most memories why cant I say anything to these people about thats not Zelda
I know Zelda is the light dragon
Running around Hyrule Castle for 'Zelda'
About to do bossfight w Ganon
Can I do a flurry rush? No
I just hit or die
Life is like that
No clever tactiques just caveman brain and trying
Evil "Zelda" is fun
Why is Ganon like one of those movie posters here
Why is he still not rehydrated
Ganon I have dick to suck hurry up
"You will not live to see another sunrise" Ganon the sun is rising rn
Woo Phantom Ganons
Fuck yeah
Lets see if I can kill them aka can I finally take on Gloom Hands (I wont)
Ganon's so arrogant
YAY MY FRIENDS ARE HERE
FUCK YEAH
I LOVE YOU ALL
MY SAGE BUDDIES
Not Lynels
Still the hardest enemy in game
Ok so if youve found Mineru and have the Master Sword already, the convo after the fake Ganon fight Purah goes "Youve already found the fifth sage? AND you have the master sword? Why didnt you say so before"
Usually youd get quests for those
It was funny
Why is the limit of horses I can have ten ::((
The Charged shirt is actually so so slutty I love it
IT GLOWS IN THUNDER STORMS
FUCK YEAH
So I finally cleared The Deku Tree's little stomach bug
And like it is so funny how easy the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon become when youre in late game
I was sweating about it and then it was so easy
And Im bad at combat
Ok not to brag but I killed a white lynel. First time ever. Also first time ever I killed a lynel without Urbosa's help

Breath of the Wild Tip #1
finally getting to this, so here we go. The order of divine beasts really helps you along your journey, and the things you need for the later beasts and fights against Ganon. You DON’T need to know shield parry for the beasts, but it doesn’t hurt to know it ahead of time.
1. Vah Ruta - this is one of the easiest, but takes some preparation. In taking this beast down, there’s one thing you can do to make it easier. STOCK UP ON ARROWS. I did this by getting to Gerudo, and buying as many arrows as I could. Especially lightning arrows, those are needed to get onto Ruta, and saves you the haggle of fighting the Lynel.
2. Vah Medoh - not too bad, just tricky at times. when you get to this, make sure you buy the cold resistant armor that is in the village. Don’t be like me when I attempted this beast the first time, by making a TON of food. Get the armor. It helps. Learn how to aim your arrows while flying, this is good for the final fight.
3. Vah Rudania - if you’re struggling to get to this one because of the trails with guardians, you can make a TON of heat resistant foods, or stop at the stable at the beginning of the trails and get heat potions. Climb the mountains to the west or east, using the potions, and quite literally drop into Goron City. Again, BUY THE ARMOR from Goron. save yourself the haggle of potions and food.
4. Vah Naboris - best of luck my friends....... just kidding. Practice your seal surfing, once you’re inside the beast, then you’re good to go. In the final battle, get ALL of your lightning resistant armor on. For the first half, block Ganon’s attacks, and fight back when he’s down. The master sword and ancient weapons are really helpful for this (you get these from certain shrines, the harder the shrine, the better the weapon. get the ancient shields :) once this half is over, then the hard part kicks in. Have your magnesis up - Ganon is going to drop metal spikes, when one lands near you, pick it up via magnesis, and move it near him. He’ll shock it, and damage himself. Make sure you are at a high place in the fight, this helps you from being shocked. Once he’s down, use bomb arrows to take his health down. You’ll do this a few times, and the fight will be over.
That’s about it! Just remember:
- get a TON of arrows
- keep your eagle bow for the Vah Naboris fight
- buy the region specific armor

Blaze’s Archaic Zelda Children
I can’t believe I am unearthing my very first OCs with what little shit I ever had on them and absolutely zero visuals cause all my old art of ‘em was gone long ago, BUT to hell with it, worst to come out of this is exposing what a cringe ass nae-nae fool tiny me was. The very first 4 OCs I ever made were made for the Zelda franchise, which was one of my obsessions way back when I was still fresh to the world of video games. ============================================================= The Three Golden Children Descended from the 3 golden goddesses, Din, Farore, and Nayru, these enigmatic figures would be present throughout the ever-changing land of Hyrule, encountering the Hero of Courage in many instances throughout time, and sometimes even providing him special challenges. One born to Din, descended to the mountains, trained by the Goron, and was known to wield a hammer of volcanic rock and the might of his limbs. One born to Farore, descended to live within the forests, a fabled figure talked amongst by the Kokiri (later turned to the Korok), concealing his silent face with a leaf mask, wielding a pair of katanas, and known to be swift as the winds. And born to Nayru, descended to a town by the lakes, ever traveling the land with a guitar in hand to play songs, moving with the grace of the waves and torrents she summons. ... At least, these were the three to be seen often by several folk throughout time. The Arcane Fourth Unbeknownst to all but a select few individuals, popping up to others as an infrequent rumor, there was a 4th divine child born long before the other three. He once served the Hylian Kingdom from the shadows, but one day mysteriously disappeared from the world, rumor speaking that his disappearance was linked with the interlopers that would be banished to the Twilight Realm. In the Era of the Wild, near the quiet Kakariko Village, some have claimed to have seen a phantom bearing resemblance to the lost fourth, carrying an ancient blade and emitting an aura mixed of divinity and a sinister power. ============================================================= I made these four so long ago and had at one point considered reviving them during my time playing BotW, but alas, I had other franchises that had consumed me at the time, and even now, I am uncertain what to even do given my somewhat faded knowledge of Zelda lore. But nevertheless, this is where I began a while after coming out of my gateway that was Super Smash Bros. Melee. And yes, they did have names, but the names didn’t quite fit with the world I wanted to put them in, save for maybe The Arcane Fourth, but maybe at best...
