"The planet Mars is home to thick layers of clay that can span hundreds of feet. Since they need water to form, these outcrops have long been of interest to scientists looking for signs of past life on the red planet.
In a new study published in Nature Astronomy, scientists from The University of Texas at Austin and collaborators took a closer look at these clay terrains and found that most formed near standing bodies of surface water, which were common on Mars billions of years ago. This environment would help foster the chemical weathering needed to create thick, mineral-rich layers of clay and could have provided the right mix of water, minerals and a calm environment for life to develop.
"These areas have a lot of water but not a lot of topographic uplift, so they're very stable," said the study's lead author Rhianna Moore, who conducted the research as a postdoctoral fellow at the UT Jackson School of Geosciences. "If you have stable terrain, you're not messing up your potentially habitable environments. Favorable conditions might be able to be sustained for longer periods of time.""
"The researchers noted that the thick clays could also be a sign of an imbalanced water and carbon cycle on ancient Mars, which could explain why Mars appears to be missing carbonate rocks in environments where they would be expected on Earth.
Billions of years ago, Mars was a wet world. It had lakes and rivers, which created geological formations that are carved on the surface of the planet today. The thick clay layers formed during this wet period. However, before this study, little was known about the environments in which they formed and how the surrounding terrain influenced their evolution."

Was Ancient Life on Mars Wiped Out By Nuclear War
Was Ancient Life on Mars really wiped out as a Dr. John Brandenburg from the US suggested so? He's put a long time and research into this so we should hear him out.

Watched Pyramids of Mars and... yeah I'm obsessed with this guy
#Was inspired by The-Patrex's fantastic anthro drawings of Sutekh. Absolutely check them out they are SICK!!!#He's anthro. he has a good voice. and he's an ancient creature of pure evil... so exactly my type really :''')#Whats super interesting is how the versions differ in interpreting Sutekh's 'Set creature' appearence.#PoM has a much more on the ardvark/giraffe elements. With the thin snout and very stylised square ears#whereas LORS is much more canine. Though still not conforming to any specific species. With the appearence of something mummified#its very good. More signs of (ancient?) water on Mars.

Mars Underground Exposed: The Central Peak of Alga Crater
The most habitable places on Mars now and in the past are underground, where water is or was much more stable than at the surface and protected from energetic particle radiation.
Large impact craters have central rebounds that uplift buried strata from miles below the surface. Often these central uplifts reveal colorful rocks with diverse minerals, including ones altered by prolonged contact with water.
Alga Crater is located in the southern highlands near a large flood-channel called Ladon Valles. The image cutout shows enhanced (infrared-shifted) color.

"A Chinese rover has found new evidence to support the theory that Mars was once home to a vast ocean, including tracing some ancient coastline where water may once have lapped, a study said Thursday.
The theory that an ocean covered as much as a third of the Red Planet billions of years ago has been a matter of debate between scientists for decades, and one outside researcher expressed some skepticism about the latest findings.
In 2021, China's Zhurong rover landed on a plain in the Martian northern hemisphere's Utopia region, where previous indications of ancient water had been spotted.
It has been probing the red surface ever since, and some new findings from the mission were revealed in the new study in the journal Nature."

The story of Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, is deeply rooted in Roman mythology, though her origins are closely tied to the Greek goddess Aphrodite.
Birth of Venus
In Roman mythology, Venus was born from sea foam. According to one version of the myth, when the god Saturn (Cronos in Greek mythology) overthrew his father Uranus, he cut off his father’s genitals and threw them into the sea. From the sea foam that resulted, Venus emerged fully grown, radiantly beautiful, and was carried to shore on a shell. This dramatic birth scene is famously depicted in Botticelli’s painting The Birth of Venus.
Venus’s Role
Venus was revered as the goddess who had the power to stir emotions and kindle love among gods and humans alike. She was also associated with fertility, prosperity, and victory. Venus had a key role in many Roman festivals and was considered a divine protector of the Roman people.
Venus and Mars
One of the most famous love affairs involving Venus was with Mars, the god of war. Despite being married to Vulcan, the god of fire and craftsmanship, Venus engaged in a passionate romance with Mars. Their union symbolized the balance between love and conflict, desire and aggression. Together, they had several children, including Cupid (Eros in Greek), the god of love.
Venus and the Trojan War
Venus played a crucial role in the story of the Trojan War, particularly through her intervention in the lives of mortals. She was said to be the mother of Aeneas, a Trojan prince, by Anchises. In the Aeneid by Virgil, Aeneas escapes the destruction of Troy and goes on to find the Roman race, making Venus an ancestor of the Romans.
Her beauty, passion, and influence over both gods and mortals made Venus one of the most enduring and beloved figures in Roman mythology.

the ares/diomedes beef is always funny
Plutarch, Parallela minora: "Diomedes, after the destruction of Troy, was cast by stress of weather upon the coast of Libya, where Lycus the son of Mars was king, whose custom it was to sacrifice all strangers to his father" imagine ares like YEAH GET HIM SON
course sadly "but his daughter Callirrhoe falling in love with Diomede, betrayed her father and set Diomede at liberty; who presently went his way without any regard to his benefactress, and Callirrhoe hanged herself upon it."

Glaciers on Mars? The Red Planet used to be warmer, wetter, and had a substantial atmosphere. A shame it has no appreciable magnetic field, which could have kept its atmosphere from being eroded by the solar wind.

Down in Chukhung Crater
Chukhung is a 45 kilometer-diameter, central pit crater in Tempe Terra, having likely formed 3 billion years ago. The southern portion of the crater floor hosts a large viscous flow feature that is hypothesized to be a glacier.
There are sinuous ridges that emanate from the margin of the flow feature toward the center of the crater. These ridges could be evidence of glacial meltwater preserved in the form of eskers, inverted channels formed when the softer sediments surrounding the channel deposits are eroded away. It is unclear whether the conditions for wet-based glaciation ever existed on Mars, but these ridges could be evidence that it once did.

STARTER PACK NO AI
A repost to the bandwagon months ago, but you can always get yours now by drawing yourself!!! Instead of being keep in the box like what I see the AI did, being stuck, commercialized from head to toe with all of your essentials, all consumable and soulless, I have the gods examining the dolls out and testing out their tiny versions of them!
For this one, I did gave Ares a new retouching: a full upper body of ink tattoos -chest/pecs, biceps and abs, inspired from the Roman cuirass armor that worn by his Roman counterparts-Mars, and my birthday gift from the lovely @greypetrel; whom she gave him two full sleeves of drakons sleeping in a field of roses and myrtle flowers. For Aphrodite, I just added a few sea shell around her, changed the background to a much more soft, serene and calm blue afternoon sky, and retouched her hair to her most current look, chunky highlights in an already blonde ombre hair.
