Claudia is going on a date with Raul to see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which I guess despite the queer subtext was allowed to screen. And the next thing with Carmen waxing poetic about Paul Newman while Fina reminds her of the existence of Elizabeth Taylor? Wonderful. (I was having flashbacks to one other time they did it on the show, and to my own fic. I love to be right.)

benedick challenging claudio to a duel, 2011 version vs the 2001 radio play version
#much ado about nothing#david tennant#much ado#ws#i love both of these because benedick is being played with two different moods (maturity vs anger) but both of them work so well#in the 2011 version they really lean into benedick being ostracized by don pedro and claudio. he is no longer 'one of the guys'#he's angry but also cool and rational and dead serious in extremely stark contrast to claudio who thinks he's telling some joke#and it's a sharp left turn from the silly goofy cringeloserclown of a man he was at the beginning of the play#in the 2001 version he's more brimming with fury and it sounds like he's on the verge of strangling claudio right there#like this interpretation of him overall is much more the battle hardened cynical soldier that is ready to throw down and we see that here#and the image it conveys of him walking up to claudio and snarling the challenge in his ear is sooooo. God i am not your strongest soldier

"kill claudio" this, "kill claudio" that. kill leonato. he believed a guy who he'd known for like a week over his literal daughter, joined him in publicly accusing and humiliating her, told her he wished she had never been born, then had the fucking audacity to tell claudio how awful he was for 'killing' hero, when he not only let him do it but encouraged and joined in with him

having just gotten back from Much Ado About Nothing, I have decided that Shakespeare is best musically interluded and slightly gay.
