i’ll never understand people who give klance a height difference. one that is factually incorrect two you hate fun. you hate petty competition. you hate lance arguing that keith wears big ass boots and he’s tiny when he literally isn’t. or that they both call each other short and it literally makes no sense. keith says that lance just looks tall cause he’s 90% bones. lance says keith is stupid and his stupid mullet sticking out to every direction gives him fake 2 inches of just hair. and keith says at least i have hair and lance replies what the fuck even is this comeback causr i also do??? and they just keep going. yeah. and they square up their shoulders and turn their chins slightly up and stare at each other, squinting, their faces fascinatingly close, and pidge walks in and says smth like what the fuck is wrong with you guys and your weird ass mating rituals

do y'all ever end up entering a fandom entirely through fanfic osmosis? like, you stumble across a fic in a new fandom, say, "ooh, this sounds neat," and then three days later you are knee-deep in the trenches with thirty different ao3 tabs open at once? and end up finding yourself being like, "that's so out of character! X wouldn't do that!" despite never having actually seen the original material?

I need to reaffirm this because it is very important to me: lance and keith do not get together easily. When lance had a thing for him back during voltron, he snuffed it out quietly and gave his all to allura, because it seemed like keith would not give him the time of day. so what was the point? more loneliness and heartache and feeling useless? at least allura was talking to him, keith was barely looking at him after the space whale.

flash forward roughly two years and keith has actually been holding a candle since then, when he was trying to bury it all. and by the time he’s settled into the blade of marmora, all he can feel is a desire to be by lance’s side. but lance has grown cold and distant and is shrouded in grief. keith loves him, sure, but god, he is sad. shiro knows, and is worried, hunk too, and pidge is at an utter loss, but keith keeps going back for more. he’s flying straight into an asteroid field and lance just keeps chucking rocks in his direction, trying to send him away, but keith won’t. he’s going to navigate it like the ace pilot he is, take his face in his calloused palms and promise him he’s there, he isn’t leaving, take him, it’s his.

and lance will refuse. because underneath all of that grief, he’s terrified to love again.
