i'm finally finishing up my s2 rewatch and getting to the 24th episode awoke a beast in me. so i wanted to make a fake screenshot based on some of their lore that takes place during that episode. i think they'd end up having a heart-to-heart moment since kuroba went through similar struggles after their grandfather's own hospitalization...

also have a bonus doodle bc i need to even out the balance between serious & goofy with these two.

Hi @potahun, I'm your gifter for the Heishin Valentine Exchange and I picked your Ghibli movie prompt and went with Howl's Moving Castle c:

Close ups and explanations below~

It took me a bit of time to figure out which character I wanted to be who, but I settled with Shinichi as Howl and Heiji as Sophie! I think the idea of Shinichi being an other worldly character like Howl isn't too far off from how he is depicted in canon. From an outsider's perspective, Shinichi seemingly has all the answers to the many cases he comes across. Especially with the way Heiji reveres Shinichi, it's not hard to see him as someone larger than life. (Also Shinichi transforming into a bird creature whenever he intervenes in the war kind of fits with how he transforms into Conan in canon as he investigates the Black Organization)

As for Heiji as Sophie, I feel that putting Heiji in a position where he becomes old can parallel his struggle with his family's (particularly his father) distrust in him being a teen detective. But in this case, Heiji initially fears that growing old hinders his ability to remain a detective. Throughout the course of the film, his fears would be assuaged as Heiji helps end the ongoing war in spite of his age.

Now for the art itself, originally I wanted to pick one scene to focus on so that I could combine this prompt with your Heishin whump prompt. But then I figured it would be neat to take inspiration from the movie's song Merry Go Round of Life. The large ring was intended to mimic the roof and rim of a merry-go-round. Like imagine the roof and then you squish it down (if that makes lol)! The rims on merry-go-rounds often feature a circular frame with images of landscapes within. For that, I recreated backgrounds from the movie.

Given the name of the song, I felt that I should recreate different scenes from the movie to show the progression of Heiji and Shinichi's lives (I would've drawn Heiji much older but I was just struggling on how to execute that properly TT-TT). From right to left the scenes are; Shinichi intervenes in the war; Heiji views the meadow Shinichi shared with him; baby Shinichi cronches on a star; Heiji watches the parade celebrating the war effort; and Shinichi stares fondly at Heiji within the castle.

Does anyone know what the timeline of the TWST main story is??? iirc Heartslabyul takes place in September before Ace’s birthday. Actually I think Prologue & Heartslabyul spans at least a week at max 😭😭

Savanaclaw is probably Late October… purely bcs I don’t think they’d do a school festival so early into the year

Octavinelle is like November-> Early December to me bcs it’s the midterm exam period, & idt they’d do exams right after a festival, but who knows…

Scarabia’s over winter break so December ->January

Pomefiore is probably??? somewhere around January as well?? Because I remember it was still snowing from the cutscene that Prefect has with Kalim abt his disappointment on not being a main singer. I’m betting on Late January at earliest. And Ignihyde takes place literally the night after Pomefiore 😭😭😭 This is also just guesswork based on how far up north the Sage’s Isle is, I assume the winters last longer there.

As for Diasomnia I got no clue at all 💔💔 all ik is that it should be getting warmer bcs of the reactions the characters have towards Malleus causing snow & winds to pick up… I used to think it was March but it probably isn’t 😭

Here they are, my Billford child! Their name is Altair Brooks. Their story:

Bill found out he was pregnant 100 years in the Theraprism (conception and pregnancy in Euclydians are longer than humans. That or it's just Bill, idk), with Ford's kid no less, during a weekly checkup. Considering the unborn was half Euclydian/half human, Bill was given the option to transfer the embryo to a human woman who would give the baby a better life what Bill could currently provide. He agreed, not wanting to deal with that hellhole while pregnant.

The embryo was transferred to a human woman, as promised. The woman, Altair's mom, had a normal, human pregnancy. With a few minor complications, but nothing that hasn't happened before. But here's the thing... Altair, despite having been born human, never looked completely human. They had these... Demonic features on them. They also had the misfortune to be born in an overly religious family, with a pastor as their father (that's a recipe for religious trauma).

Growing up, Altair wasn't allowed to go outside unless it was for school or church, and they weren't allowed to interact with other people beside their parents and some people from the church. Even then, they had to hide their inhuman features, so people didn't see. They were labeled as "the Demon Child", "Hellspawn", "the Antichrist" and all of that, and their parents saw this as a challenge from the Lord to "kick the demon out of the kid" or some shit like that (that sounds like an allegory for something, no?) So yeah, all in all, Altair grew up as a very sheltered child (good thing they had unrestricted internet access, which certainly didn't mess them up...😀).

Every now and then, Altair would discover some powers they never knew they had, but their skills are underdeveloped bc of the lack of practice and the lack of a teacher. Every night, they dream they're floating in this dark yet colorful place that's destroying itself, which feels both overwhelming and underwhelming (AKA the Nightmare Realm). So they kinda try to avoid sleep.

17 years old. Born in 1996, by the time the show took place they were 16

Grew up in Texas

Intersex (found that out when they were going through their medical records at 13. That... Explained a lot)

Run away at 17 bc they hated their home and to find... Something. They don't know what, but they feel like something is missing from their life and they try to find it

I'm still developing their story, so idk if anything will change or how they'll meet Ford and realize he's their biological father. Tell me if you like them! ^ ^
