"Having thick hair can be a bit of a nightmare because it can typically be more difficult to style and often difficult to hold," said Dexter Johnson of Toni & Guy. “Thick hair is more difficult to manipulate, while thin hair can build up with products. Listen in which direction your colorist / stylist steers you. This customer came in with an old, ash colored, foiled look. She is a young working mother and does not have much time for herself (generally and in her morning routine). Balayage keeps it age-appropriate and fashionable on course. This also gives her the opportunity to spend a few months between the colors. The ashen sounds washed her out and gave her the golden tone that lightened her face. I've also included faint lights to maintain the depth that some foil customers are missing after some time.

For her cut we had to keep her hair on the longer side to hide a birthmark on the right side. I easily layered the interior for the movement. This increases the versatility for those who are busy in the morning before work.

This is a honey brown, and I absolutely love this color! Every guest could really do it. I used Davines color to achieve this, along with Davines finishing products like a textured spray and a gloss finish. This look is for a subtle, rich color, the loose waves of Chi lava were the perfect finish to show the depth of this color. The cut was a length with long layers. Like honey, the golden brown hair color creates a beautiful glow.

Any advice for someone considering it?

My client had a round face, which is why we kept it a long time to help her get some length on her face. I would say to anyone who wanted an easy-care color that still has plenty of fill, this is the perfect color. Depending on the face shape, the cut would be determined. I always recommend a texture spray for funny waves that hold. Making waves makes it easier for the customer because they are not uniformed and therefore do not have to be perfect.

For the volume, I would add a mousse to the root and a kind of thermal protector for the ends to keep them healthy.

This is a super easy cut and the color is to maintain. Due to the length it has, the customer was able to get off every 8 weeks with a color refresh and every 12 to 16 weeks with a cut. I think this cut can be done on all face shapes. Optimizations need to be made for each person to make sure they fit in perfectly, but these are small tweaks. Pony or no pony, over or under the shoulder, long layers or dull.
