Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017: [Top 5 Trends]

The Lakme Fashion Week 2017 has come to an end but we are still taking our time to come to terms with the dose of glamour that was on display during the 5-day fashion week! This fashion week is usually held twice every year for every season. Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 concluded last week with yet again some brilliant designs. It was amazing to see how designers have chosen the path to designing garments with simpler cuts and ones that would look good on a huge range of body types. And here we come up with talented designers showcasing some of their best and intricately done designs. As always we also saw many Bollywood celebrities walk down the runway as showstoppers. The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 was held from August 16th to August 20th at the St. Regis in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Jaspreet Chandok who is the head of fashion, IMG Reliance LTD told some news agencies that after the repeated success of LFW in the last couple of years, he was super thrilled to be coming up with a brand new season.

Lakme Fashion Week gives Mumbai’s fashion enthusiasts a peek at their favorite designers’ newest creations before anyone else. What makes the whole experience even more exciting: the possibility of a show ending with a Bollywood star rocking a beautiful outfit from the collection as a showstopper. This season, Lakme Fashion Week’s shows featured a total of 33 celebrity showstoppers, WOW! While Aditi Rao Hydari, Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Vaani Kapoor walked for their designers (Jayanti Reddy, Rahul Mishra, Arpita Mehta and SVA respectively) in wedding-ready lehengas; Sunny Leone, Preity Zinta and Disha Patani donned festive gowns for their showstopper moments. Amongst the fabulous men, Jim Sarbh of Neerja strolled down the ramp in shorts for Anuj Bhutani, and at Manish Malhotra’s glitzy closing show. Aditya Roy Kapur looked dapper as ever in a black suit alongside Jacqueline Fernandez. If you think those are a lot of names, there is still more! We also saw Malaika Arora, Disha Patani, Esha Gupta and Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp in this season.

At the end of the day, it is all about Indian fashion and we always get to see a new twist on one of India’s most popular clothing styles; the saree. Keep reading below to know the top 5 trends we picked out from this year.

RED-Colour of the season

The fourth day of the event saw the power of red on the runway with actress Vaani Kapoor, Tapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar and Malaika Arora as head-turning showstoppers. These ladies in red looked absolutely stunning and stood out in this festive color. Many brides who wish to stick to a traditional red for their wedding outfit can also take inspiration from this. The color red is so energizing!

Taapsee Pannu walked the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 for designer Divya Reddy. She slayed the runway in a red floor-length embellished jacket worn over a delicately-embroidered sheer piece. The actor says walking the ramp has always been a nightmare for her, right from her modeling days. “I believe there are different expectations attached when you are a model and things are different when you are a showstopper.”

This is not the first time Vaani Kapoor is walking the ramp at LFW. She made her presence loud and clear at the Lakme Fashion Week 2017 in a gorgeous red lehenga designed by Sonam and Paras Modi. The outfit was exactly what we would call perfect, it had embroidery all over but still was very balanced and looked subtle. The embroidered, plunging-neckline choli looked perfect with the lehenga, while the blue-border on the dupatta gave a nice new twist to the entire red ensemble. With all the red and gold we thought it was interesting how the outfit was accessorized with a silver kamarband. It is a big contrast but somehow it just worked. Their collection was inspired by the beauty of the Chinar trees in Kashmir and this lehenga is basically known as a maharaja pop.

The fifth and the last day of the fashion extravaganza we saw the ever so gorgeous Malaika Arora walking down the runway so confidently. One of the biggest fashionistas in town, Malaika arora walked the ramp for designer Ridhi Mehra. She wore a sheer, red, tulle jumpsuit, lavishly covered with tassels and a seductive long trail with beaded fringes from the designer’s collection titled ‘Adorne’. She really had all eyes hooked on to her throughout.

Bhumi Pednekar gave some serious bridal goals as she walked down the ramp in a creation by designer Ruceru during the fifth day of Lakme Fashion Week. She set the grace on the ramp with a very natural look and she looked so elegant in this beautiful red lehenga. She looked every inch of a classic, Indian bride with a modern touch, as she walked the ramp.

Floral embroidery

Florals florals florals!!! Have we seen enough of them? Maybe not, which is why season after season the designers choose florals as their main motif. We saw florals in all colors and in so many different forms this season. You definitely could spot a floral lehenga, floral dress and a floral gown somewhere throughout the 5-day madness. Our favorite was Disha Patani’s soft dreamy look!

Manish Malhotra’s show has always been a grand one at Lakme Fashion Week. Jacqueline Fernandez and Aditya Roy Kapur walked the runway for the designer and his exquisite collection was the perfect way to close Lakmé Fashion Week 2017. Jacqueline Fernandez has a lovely charm and she rocked her runway look. Fernandez wore a sheer embroidered black gown with a floral touch and looked really pretty. The Best Naked Dress Trend Looks Of All Time

Bollywood actress Disha Patani looked florally cool while walking for Ritu Kumar at Lakme Fashion Week 2017.Patani wore a white corset bodice dress over shorts. The piece, part of Kumar’s ‘Sweet Surrender’ collection, had a translucent layer embroidered with floral details, paired with white shorts. Kumar’s collection was inspired by the 18th century French marquise fashion, with a splash of 80s pastel hues and tropical prints.

The fifth day of the event saw the ravishing Kriti Sanon walk the ramp for ace designer Arpita Mehta in an ornate bralette choli and lehenga. The actress looked absolutely stunning in the indigo number that looked just so hot on her lean body.The magenta floral adorning the lehenga complimented the silver embroidery on the waistline, and jazzed up the look of the deep-hued outfit. The heavy embroidery of the ensemble was balanced well by a spiffy ruffled dupatta that had a contemporary appearance, and elevated Kriti’s look.

Corset Mania

A corset is a garment worn to hold and train the torso into a desired shape, traditionally a smaller waist or larger bottom, for aesthetic or medical purposes.

The designer Johnnie Walker showcases the fierce glamazons who strode down the ramp very confidently wore leather mini skirt, corsets with extended conical shoulder detailing.This collection had leather and multiple belts that emerged from various angles ensured that the look was inspired by the furious action but made stylish fashion statements.Giving a modern twist to the breastplate.Lace up sandals were added to the look.

Ladies and gentlemen: Presenting you from the runway of Lakme Fashion Week 2017, the newest “sari innovation” – the corset sari! Only Masaba Gupta can bring Victorian and desi together. Apart from saris, she’s introduced corsets with anarkalis and off-shoulder shirts too. The designer doesn’t mind calling the corset-sari combination, desi Victorian, and feels that it’s a trend waiting to explode. It wasn’t only on saris that the waist-defining separate was styled.

Ritu Kumar’s take on Winter/Festive was rather tropical with watercolor prints in summery, pop color combinations. The monogram of pineapples in embroideries and sequins reigned heavy. Silhouettes circled around corset-like bodices tied with similar macrame and tassel belts with wispy skirts.

Disha Patani walked the ramp in Ritu Kumar’s design; a sheer white floral corset bodice strapless dress over shorts with asymmetrical hem. Disha looked adorable with a whole new look that she rocked on the ramp. She looked lovely with the brand new fringe and permed hairdo. She wore the outfit with fishnet tights and accessorized with oversized earrings.

Sustainable fashion

Sustainable fashion, also called Eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability. The main goal for those who support it is to have a human impact on the environment and social responsibility.

Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week 17 was all about Sustainable fashion and Anavila Mishra brought out her best designs to the ramp. Moving away from her usual color schemes of neutral and bright to tones, the designer strongly believes that it is about time designers should be conscious about the environment and think about it in the whole process of creating their garments. Her collection took us on an enchanting journey into the dark woods where she used fabrics such as handwoven cotton, silk, linen, and wool. The use of black and grays with a sheen looked amazing. Using hand-block printed from Gujarat to Jharkhand’s Khatwa embroidery all were locally sourced from a talented pool of karigars.

Titled ‘Irreverence’ Gaurav Jai Gupta sought inspiration from a dark chasm of ideas. The collection consisted of beautiful urban separates, engineered saris, lehenga skirts and tops in blends of hand weaved merino wool, silk, cotton, and metal, where the woven pleats have all been developed on the loom to provide elasticity. The color story consisted of indigos’s, charcoal, glazed metal and teal.

Designer Kriti Tula of Doodlage collaborated with Converse India to create a fun collection titled ‘Dreams and Dystopia’ which was made up of recycled plastic. Waists were cinched with corsets, dresses were crafted out of scraps of fabric and masks were made out of twigs and waste material. All the dresses were made keeping in mind about sustainable fashion and it was a beautiful collection to promote it.

Bollywood star Mandira Bedi cheered for Anavila from the front rows. She attended Anavila’s show at the Lakme Fashion Week wearing a linen saree by the designer paired with a statement silver necklace. She finished off her look with a red bindi and red envelope clutch!

Mesh Jackets

Mesh is similar to a web or a net in that it has many attached or woven strands. The sheer and see through trend has picked up a lot lately and your best kind of jackets for the coming season is a mesh one. It will look elegant, dressy and casual at the same time depending on what it is paired with.

The designer Falguni Shane Peacock presented their collection ‘Cassiopeia’ which was inspired by outer space. Space-age metallic micro minis and evening gowns glided down the runway with fitted silhouettes and floor-length skirts and capes. Futuristic geometric patterns were splashed with beads and maribou feathers. The pieces matched perfectly with the exquisite jewelry by Farah Khan. Colours such as muted pink, nude, caramel, galaxy blue, and glossy black came together with chrome-finished eclipses and starry ashes.

Masaba Gupta’s collection was simple yet striking. She added a stunning mesh jacket on a dark long-sleeved velvet gown with its celestial sequins. The fall of the jacket is so lovely that it is giving an elegant look to the outfit.

Have you ever thought about what to wear with jeans? I doubt it because a pair of jeans is one of the easiest pieces of clothing to style as it is considered a form of basic clothing. However, with all the new cuts and trends that come out with denim, there could be some confusion. Recently there has been a lot of craze on denim when it comes to fashion trends. One is those super flared jeans that are taking over our Instagram like a storm and the other of denim on denim outfit looks that are super hot right now. Moving on to another favorite for the season are cropped frayed hem jeans.

While I was in London recently to be very honest I know had one thing in mind, to get the perfect pair of frayed jeans and I think I tried a huge number of different styles till I found this store that I absolutely fell in love with it. I have no idea why I had not discovered this brand before since it’s not even very new. I was extremely disappointed that all this time I was missing out all their amazing collections but happy that now I have my go-to place when it comes to finding the latest trends. Since my parents live in London, I have specifically told my mom to keep an eye out for this brand. I am not even exaggerating when I say that it’s one of those stores where you walk in and each and every piece of clothing is right on trend and super stylish. You don’t even need to give any piece a second thought and you feel like picking up each and every product that is there. This amazing brand is called STRADIVARIUS. It was founded in 1994 and is based out of Spain with stores spread over 60 different countries.

Now getting back to what to wear with jeans, I understand it might be difficult to decide on what goes with a pair of frayed hem jeans. Many people have asked me on what looks best with it just because they think there is already that main element of the fringe on the jeans they don’t want to overdo it. Remember this year the more the better when it comes to fashion. Other than that there really aren’t any rules, to be honest, don’t over think it, they are still just a pair of jeans. I have styled two looks wearing the same pair but with two different tops. While I’m writing this I have just realized that the jeans and two tops are all from Stradivarius, I was thinking all about the jeans that I forgot that the entire two looks are all from one place. I guess this shows just how many things I have picked up from there

First Look:

I was very careful when it came to my shopping this time I was in London. I wanted to cover all the basics and everything I picked up, I was thinking about this season and the trends right now. I didn’t worry about long-term, casual, winter wears nothing, just straight out what works right now. Keeping that in mind you will see how other than the jeans how the top and my sneakers are right on point. I was over the moon when I bought my new Puma Basket Heart white sneakers as just early this year we talked all about this ballet-inspired collection on Posherry. While writing about them back then I never thought that I would actually end up buying them, but I did and I love them! They are the perfect sneakers with the perfect amount of feminine touch to them, this makes them work with almost any outfit. Coming on to the top, we can’t say that off-shoulder is completely out but there is no doubt that the one-shoulder trend has taken over majorly. Runways and street style are all about that one sleeve recently and this beautiful top has all the right elements. It’s got that shirt look and the puff on the sleeves.

You know how Posherry just loves all different body types and according to mine, this look worked out pretty well. The top is a crop top but as the jeans are high-waisted only a tiny area of my waist was shown. This worked as just the right amount was showing according to my comfort, it’s also a straight fit that gives my body the shape it needs. I finished my look off with a multicolor pastel choker and a casual leather backpack.

For the second look on what to wear with jeans with frayed hems, I changed the top to a similar shirt fabric to the first one but a whole new style. Both the tops have the blue and white stripes shirt pattern, however, this look is an actual shirt. Floral embroidery on shirts are every fashion girls favorite piece of clothing right now. I am not all for very bright floral designs personally, but this shirt stood out to me. The colors are not that bright and perhaps that is why I liked it so much. I like how the flowers are very subtle where soft pastel and fresh colors have been used. I can’t stress enough as to how soft and comfortable this shirt is to wear. For the second look, I tucked the shirt it into my jeans for a cool semi-formal summer look.

The look was styled with brown accessories just because when you tuck in a shirt it always looks nice to wear a belt and my favorite belt these days is this broad leather belt by Ralph Lauren. The brown sling bag compliments the belt and look quite well and last but not least the famous mules from Primark. Recently there was a lot of controversy about how Primark is selling a look-alike of Prada’s mules at a very low price. Whatever the outcome of that, it doesn’t affect me I just care that I have these pretty shoes. The soft pink/beige color goes really well with the colors of the flowers on the shirt.

Every year the nails on the runway startle us and this time it’s no different. Check out the best manicures from the beginning of the year from Fashion Month right here. For summer 2017 the designs, colors, and trends we saw on the runway were astounding. It’s amazing to see how a small canvas can lead in-to so much creativity.

To make sure you stay on the edge of the newest trends, we have rounded up some of our favorite looks from the runway. Flip through these eight nail designs that are about to blow your mind.

Metallic

This season we see a lot of designers that have opted for metallic gold and silver nails but instead of allowing them to shine they were painted with a matte top coat this time. At Cividini we saw a solid gold nail with flakes of silver, on Michael Costello runway nails were painted a matte shade of gold and at Phillip Lim’s show, it was inspired by studs, zippers, and textures in order to create a distressed metallic nail.

Black Accents

This season we saw plenty of leathery black nails which were decked around the fingers of Vera Wang’s runway models.The modern brushstroke style was very Gothic. It was mainly designed to look like a freehand paint stripe applied at the center of the nail leaving the sides untouched. This was finished with a matte coating on the top. This look was created by the artist Jin Soon Choi.

Color Blocking

This season we witnessed a lot of bold and pop up shades which were a serious hit on the runways. At Jeremy Scott and Tanya Taylor shows we saw these clashing combinations and psychedelic patterns which gave these nail designs a festive look.

Graphic French

This year many nail artists opted for a clever and unique take on a traditional style by utilizing colors and by playing with the shapes. At Cushnie Et Ochs show we saw asymmetrical white stripes with a nude base. There were graphics with the shades of red and white polish at Rebecca Minkoff’s runway and on the Carmen Marc Valvo`s runway we saw the tips were in shades of black and white with another color added between the two to create a cool graphic effect.

Ladylike Neutrals

This year ignoring all the summer runway trends Marc Jacobs opted for nothing but plain neutral nails. Our favorite picks of this season include unique flattering beiges and nudes in shades of mushroom. It’s a classy look and something you can never wrong with.

Embellished Cuticles

This season we saw another runway trend by nail artist Tracy Lee where the nails have been painted in a nude color. After that a stripe of gold glitter or shimmery colors come along the cuticle giving a lovely effect to your nails.

Wire Nails

This is by far this season`s most famous trend-Wire Nails. It is very eye catching with thin golden wires decorated on your nails finished with a simple clear or black nail polish. This look was mainly seen during New York Fashion Week.

Pride Month 2017: LGBTQ Fashion & Beauty In style

Happy Pride Month Everyone! Every year, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month is celebrated in June to honour the 1969 Stonewall riots. The riots, which took place in Manhattan, were a crucial tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the U.S. So every year during this month, everyone around the world comes together to celebrate how far we have come since then. We show our full support for the LGBTQ community and we in particular love what the fashion and beauty industries have done this year. So many brands help out but raising money and awareness for the LGBT charities and we all need to appreciate it. During the entire pride month, we saw some amazing collaborations, collections, beauty products and got to know about several LGBT owned brands we never knew about.

LGBTQ Owned Brands You Need To Know

We all know the amazing gay men that have really shaped the fashion industry over the years, by building these high-end brands for us. Women’s fashion has been taken to a whole new level because of them and we don’t know what the fashion industry would be like without them. But we all know a lot about them right? What you might not know are the small super cool designers killing it with their gender-bending clothing lines. You should check them out, especially during this time where we are celebrating pride month. Some of the LGBTQ owned brands are really worth checking out.

Chromat

An American Fashion Label based in New York City was built by Becca McCharen in 2010. Fashion can help move the society forward and this is what this brand has done. Chromat is known for its innovative structural and angular clothing. They have also become very famous for its black clothing that features designs based on the structure of the human body. Becca McCharen is part of the LGBTQ community and has experiences discrimination. She says that her clothing is just like her being ‘queer’! Her experiences and trials had formed her brand into what it is today. She makes sure her campaigns and models involve a range of different people from helping women, people of color and people of different sexual orientations. She wants to be able to break into the traditionally male-dominated fashion industry. Last year we saw this upcoming trend of inner wear becoming outerwear and this is what her brand represents as well. She is breaking all the boundaries of what should be worn where.

This pride month she says : “As fashion designers, we have the power to highlight and celebrate beauty in all different forms. Every fashion week is an opportunity to celebrate those inspirational people and have these incredible women and non-binary babes reflected in our runway show. It’s not a trend—it’s our life.”

Ready To Stare

Ready to Stare is a body positive apparel and accessory brand and personal style blog that was started By Alysse Dalessandro. Both the brand and the blog are designed for those who believe in following their passion, loving themselves and inspiring others to do the same. The brand is specifically oriented towards plus size females. Her aim was to create a brand for the people who were getting left out of the mainstream fashion lines.

Dallesandro says “I wanted to create a haven for those who get stared at because they’re different and who choose, instead of hiding, to stare back and keep shining,”

You must check out her “Thank You For Staring” look book, which is explicitly LGBTQ+ and size inclusive.

Play out

Play out believes in: BE OUT. PLAY IN STYLE. A queer owned fashion brand specifically designs gender-neutral underwear that is colourful, bold, playful and bursting with energy. The founder and designer of play out Abby Sugar says: “As a queer-owned brand, we knew that we wanted to create something for our LGBTQIA family, but also embody and proudly display who we are to the rest of the [heterosexual, binary-gendered] world.” Their brand is lesbian-inspired, gender-inclusive, free, sexy, and fun for women, men and people of all gender identifications. As they have grown their brand, Play Out have worked with men, women, trans- and gender-free individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicity, gender presentations and sexual orientations.

Tyler Wallach Studios

Tyler Wallach is such an inspiration, he is a creative and independent queer artist from Harlem, NY. He is well known for his bright and bold coloured street-art characters on both canvas and clothing. The brand brings out the best bold bright graphics to their clothing which features street characters and unisex designs that can be worn by people of gender. His compassion, love and care towards the LGBTQ community keeps him inspired to be the artist he is. He produces large-scale paintings every year that are donated and auctioned off by national LGBTQ charities with 100% of proceeds going to at-risk youth and anti-bullying efforts.

Rebirth Garments

Rebirth Garments are designed and made by hand by Sky Cuba-cub, a QPOC (Gender queer Person of Color) from Chicago. Every garment is customised and all their brand campaigns feature models of all sizes and genders doing all sorts of splits and fun stuff in wheelchairs with oxygen masks. They are inclusive and representative in their imaginary and garment customization. The aim for the brand is to be able to give products accessible to queer crip youth along with being able to provide free/reduced priced garments for people in need. They believe Rebirth Garments has the power to give you the confidence and strength to feel comfortable in your first skin.

Through the collection, people can confidently express their individuality and identity. This identity according to the brand is that of Queer Crip, meaning queer, gender non-conforming identities, visible and invisible disabilities/ disorders—physical, mental, developmental, emotional etc.

10 Fashion Brands That Are Giving Back To The LGBT Community

Around this time of the year as soon as we hit the month of June we see brands embracing the rainbow like never before. They all find their own unique and stylish ways to honour the start of pride month by releasing collections or limited edition products sporting the pride flag colors. As we mentioned before this is the time when these brands donate the proceeds to LGBTQ charities and organisations. We have put together the top 10 brands who have come out with the most beautiful products in support of LGBTQ people for Pride. Pride branding has really come a long way as the new generation has done so many things to make a difference. We see more brands than ever now using models of color and trans models to promote their brands, rather than going for big celebrities. Check out our favourite picks from this month:

Nike

Nike’s journey of supporting the LGBTQ community began in 2012 with their #BeTrue Collection in the wake of its marriage equality campaign. Ever since then Nike has provided approximately $2.5 million for financial and in-kind support for LGBT causes. They come out with the most amazing limited edition kicks and rainbow spins on some of their most popular shoes. They have taken a bold step with their #BeTrue2017 Collection where they suggest that rainbows are not the only gay symbol. They have paired it along with other symbols of Pride, such as the color pink and the triangle.

“Sporting your rainbow in the gym or on a run became a way to feel like you belonged to something larger – you were connected to being ‘out’ or being an ally. The rainbow has and always will be incorporated into the BETRUE product in some way.” – Robert Goman, LBGT Network Leader at Nike

Dr. Martins

We love what they are doing! Dr. Martins is donating $5 from every $145 pair of 1460 Pride Boots to the Trevor Project. This is a suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. They are also going to be hosting Pride events all summer long to create a huge amount of awareness and give the LGBTQ community all the support they deserve. This funky colorful boots are totally taking us back to the 90`s. The shoe brand is associated with punk rock and these boots come with a message. On one boot there are words written across it such as LGBT+, LOVE and UNITY On the other boot it has a rainbow pattern all over and both the boots come with bright rainbow laces.

American Eagle

American Eagle are really doing their part this year by donating 100% of the sales of its 2017 Pride Collection to benefit the It Gets Better project. Their collection for pride month includes t-shirts, boxer-briefs, boy briefs, a rainbow beaded choker and a hat. They have a campaign called #WeAllCan which was started to remind everyone that they can be anything and do everything they want. This collection has been rolled into this campaign as it fits the message perfectly.

Everlane

Out of all the brands, we have listed Everlane is one of the companies that it truly committed to ethical production practices. They began their 100% Hymen campaign in January where they started giving $5 of each purchase to the ACLU. Later as International Women’s Day came they came out be millennial pink shirts where the profits went to women’s rights organisation. Now for pride month, their complete focus was on PRIDE with 100% Human rainbow shirts.

The campaign declares “Gay. Bi, Lesbian. Queer. Trans. Non-Binary”. Whoever you love, however, you identify, we’re all 100% Human.

Gap inc.

The most famous Pride lines are rainbows, love is love and love wins. Gap Inc. came out with colorful rainbow t-shirts with these lines along with being paired with their brand logo. 30% of Gap’s Pride T-shirt net sales and $2 from every Pride-themed eGiftCard will go to the UN Free & Equal organization. For pride month Gap inc. released a corporate video in order to encourage their employees #weartheirpride.

Levi`s

Levi’s approach to the pride month merchandise is a little different than the others. They believe in going beyond just slapping on rainbows on t-shirts. They came out with black and white tanks and tees that have Fight Stigma written across them. The Fight Stigma initiative and product line is inspired by 80`s HIV awareness efforts. Levi’s Pride collection this year is utterly thorough, with jeans, shirts, pins, bandannas, socks and underwear.

100% of proceeds will be donated to the Harvey Milk Foundation and Stonewall Community Foundation.

Urban Outfitters

We love how fun and refreshingly the Pride fashion line is from Urban Outfitters. They designed the #UOPride line in partnership with hip-hop artist Taylor Bennett where all the profits are going to GLSEN. GLSEN is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the school experience for LGBTQ youth. The designs as we said are very fun and bubbly. The collections for pride month is full of soft pastel colours with rainbows and statements like love is love. This year, the merchandise was shown off on a mix of young LGBTQ creatives, like dancer Harper Waters, model Torraine Futurum, activist Tyler Ford and musician Taylor Bennett.

Meundies

Summer has really kicked in and it’s too difficult to handle the heat now. Putting this look together was fun but actually shooting is was pretty much a nightmare. We have started putting together our summer outfit ideas for you all and this look was the best way to start it. As you know recently I was in London and picked up a variety of cool stuff for the summer. We all know how London’s weather is completely unpredictable, one minute it’s raining and the next the sun is out. It’s become a standard reply for when someone asks “How will the weather be in London right now?” And you answer: “Just be prepared for any type of weather, it can rain there anytime so keep an umbrella with you always!” I think I have heard this line so many times over the past years and have actually found myself giving the same advice to other people as well.

One of the summer outfit ideas to start off some major summer looks involve a certain type of print that tells the story of London weather perfectly. I doubt it was made keeping that in mind and perhaps when you see for yourself you might not realise it but since I like to analyse what I’m wearing these are my thoughts on the print of this beautiful dress from Next. What do you see in the print? I see a bunch of gloomy grey clouds with pops of colour and florals between them. Don’t you think this concludes exactly what London summer weather is like in the most fashionable way possible? This outfit is a drop waist scallop hem dress where the scallops fit in just perfectly with the shape of the clouds. The colour combination is so fresh where light neutral greys are used with teal and orange for the florals. Personally for a while now one of my favourite colours has been teal so there is a reason this dress caught my eye.

If you follow Posherry on Instagram you might have seen that I recently got my first tattoo and it is of my adorable little dog who has been a part of my life for the past 14 years. This look was also exciting for me for this very reason, to get to show off my tattoo proudly in style. I love how he is always going to be a part of my outfit detail shot from now on. Coming to the details, in our spring/summer shoe trend guide for 2017 we mentioned how glove pumps are on trend for the season. I got these grey glove flats from New Look and they worked well with the dress and for me as well since they are flats. I’m not a huge fan of open toe sandals either, I prefer wearing closed shoes even if its summer. To finish off my look I paired my very old classic beige Lady Dior Patent Leather Handbag. My favourite part of the look are the orange rose stud earrings, they matched perfectly with the orange florals in the dress.
