heyo! this isnt really about the comic, but i was wondering---do you ever feel weird talking about rose's identity as pink diamond? ive been thinking about it and ive always felt strangely odd about referring to rose as pink diamond. i think it almost sort of feels disrespectful, like deadnaming? its just something thats been on my mind haha

I actually really appreciate you giving me a chance to rant about this a bit.

This is a thing that bothers me. A fair bit.

No. No you shouldn't.

Alright, but let's step back and discuss.

The truth is, I don't actually think my stance on this is THAT extreme.

There are people that make a direct connection from Rose's predicament to deadnaming. And while I agree that this is an apt metaphor, it's also slightly more complex than that. Should we, as an audience, constantly refer to ALL iterations of the gem now known as Rose as only "Rose Quartz"?

I personally don't think so. I think there are times when it's narratively appropriate to refer to her as Pink Diamond.

When?

When she's Pink Diamond.

Like, yes, there are entire spans of story when Rose Quartz simply did not exist, as a concept. And if I am talking about her time living as a Diamond, I think it's fully appropriate to refer to her as Pink.

But the thing is. The thing IS.

Rose CHANGED. That's the entire--that's the whole POINT.

PINK changed. Into Rose.

And was it something that wiped her slate clean? No. Was it something that erased her past mistakes? No. Did it magically, all at once, make her into a better gem and a better person?

No.

But. She did give up that identity as Pink. When she started a war - that wasn't as Pink Diamond. ROSE started that war. When she had Steven - that wasn't as Pink Diamond. ROSE made that choice. It's an important distinction, and it's not only more respectful to her character, it's also important AS A VIEWER to realize that Rose is responsible for things in the same capacity as Pink.

If we just erase her transformation into Rose, and call her Pink Diamond across the board, we are making a statement - no matter if it's consciously or not - that nothing Rose did to change herself MATTERED. That her past, her Homeworld-assigned identity, will FOREVER be more important than anything she did to change herself thereafter.

We are submitting to the same ideals that Homeworld pushed on us as the antithesis of the whole show.

I just can't get behind that.

I don't necessarily want to shame those people because I think it's the same impulse that makes people scream like baboons when they're at a sportsball match and one little guy in a colored shirt gets the ball from ANOTHER little guy in a DIFFERENT shirt and it activates some sort of neuron that makes the thinking stop.

However. It does feel weird to me because

That's not Pink, fellas! It's Rose. She's been Rose for like 5000 years.

She WAS Pink Diamond, yes. She isn't any longer.

Pink Diamond is gone. ROSE has to deal with Pink Diamond's past now.

Give her some credit. Let her carry the sins of BOTH people. She deserves it. And there's more drama in it, anyway.

You’re trying to find balance when it comes to updating yourself on world news since it impacts your everyday mood this much.

You’re letting go of a more naive side of yourself. You’ve seen a lot and been through a lot so now you see through lies easily. You’ve survived so many tough times and it helped you become stronger. Now you have the discernment to evaluate in which moments it’s worth it to be vulnerable with people. You’re getting your good karma, things that have been taken from you will come back in an upgraded form. The ones that did you dirty will be dealt with by the universe. You’ll have unexpected deep and interesting conversations with strangers. Because of your ethics, you sometimes felt like you weren’t getting as much as the people who were willing to do unethical things. This spring, you’ll realize that nice guys don’t finish last. Some thoughts because I finished rewatching Steven Universe. I don’t really think this is a new original idea, but I’ve never seen anyone talk about it before so I thought it might be worth sharing.

By this point it’s pretty commonly known that the show offers no one conclusive way we should feel about Rose Quartz. She was a complex, flawed person who did good things and bad things over the course of her life. You can love her or hate her or be completely neutral on her and it isn’t per se wrong. Personally, I still really admire Rose for her continued effort to be better, despite her mistakes, and despite her upbringing as a Diamond.

That said, her upbringing as the littlest, and most immature Diamond meant that she began her life as an entitled, petulant child. We don’t really know anything about the Diamonds’ origins, so we don’t know their relative ages, or if they came into the world pre-programmed with an identity and purpose like other gems, so it’s hard to say whether Pink Diamond was supposed to be the way she was or not. All we know is that she was functionally the child of the family. And as the child, the other Diamonds loved her, found her at times endearing and entertaining, but also they were annoyed by her, and punished her for her spontaneity and disruptive behavior.

For other gems, undermining the Diamonds’ image of flawless authority, or getting in the way of their violent intergalactic conquest would result in proper, dictatorial punishments—being separated from loved ones, being forcefully reconditioned and repatriated, or being killed outright (or shattered in this case), among other penalties unspecified to us as the show’s audience. But for Pink, she was a Diamond. She was family. It would be a bad look for the Diamonds to disappear one of their own, or revert Pink to factory settings using a rejuvenator. And of course, they did care for her. No matter what she did, punishment would have to fall short of the unthinkable act of breaking her.

So, the Diamonds handled Pink in other ways. When she made a scene, she could be locked away in an empty tower—a very cruel, high profile form of being grounded. And when she was simply in the way, she could be placated with distractions. A Pearl—literally made to serve as her personal attendant and entertainer—isn’t enough to hold her attention? How about a gem literally made to be her best friend. Spinel. A similarly childish and cartoonish little playmate to keep her busy playing games and having a laugh so the other Diamonds can rule and forever grow their empire without their annoying kid sister to bother them.

And so, at the same time, Pink Diamond was both cruelly punished for her immature behavior, and encouraged to indulge in it. To spend her time goofing off in the garden so long as she was out of the way. A confusing upbringing to say the least. But this is exactly why Pink would eventually become the first gem to meaningfully resist the Diamond authority, to resist the idea that gems must serve and conform to their intended purpose, and to resist the idea that life is worthless or lesser without that kind of purpose. Pink’s environment drove her to change. She was the only gem that the Diamonds actively wanted to change, and the only gem that they would be unwilling to break for daring to try.

Pink was still very childish and immature when she began begging for her own colony, to the point of throwing tantrums when the other Diamonds naturally refused. To the point of carelessly breaking one of her toys—that is to say, her Pearl. That may have been a bit of a wake up call for her, or at least reason to be a bit more self-aware, and careful with her thoughts and feelings. Her replacement Pearl—the Pearl we know as the rebel Crystal Gem—never knew Pink Diamond to throw tantrums or break her things. Instead, this was the Pink Diamond who could convince the Diamonds that she could handle a colony.

This version of Pink still played with Spinel, but seemingly tried to hide her more childish nature from the other Diamonds, and, based on a scene from Steven Universe: The Movie, may have been a bit embarrassed by Spinel. As Pink was trying to be more mature and take on more responsibility, her friend who was made to forever indulge her childish nature may have become an annoyance, or even a mirror reflecting everything that Pink was ashamed of being, and trying to grow out of.

Evidently, Pink’s mission to grow into a Diamond worthy to rule her own colony was successful, and she was tasked with overseeing the colonization of Earth. Soon after, Pink’s new Pearl, eager to please her sad, bored, and lonely Diamond, indulged Pink’s desire to see her planet with her own eyes, inadvertently encouraging her to take the shape of a Quartz to safely do so without getting in trouble. As the two toured the planet together, Pink began to realize the beauty of the natural life on Earth, which her colony would inevitably destroy. She began to realize a love of the Earth, and her freedom to roam its surface as Rose Quartz.

The protection of the Earth and its life became a new, self-chosen purpose for Pink. And as hard as she tried to convince the other Diamonds that her colony couldn’t and shouldn’t be completed, they still only saw her as childish, disruptive little Pink, making a scene. Of course she couldn’t handle her colony. Of course she was getting hung up on every little problem. Nothing to be done but placate her so she can at least finish what she started. 

Struggling to be heard, but determined in her cause, Pink used her new identity as Rose Quartz to publicly resist the colony’s development. If the Diamonds wouldn’t take her seriously as a fellow Diamond matriarch, they’d have to confront her as an actually punishable rebel threat. As she fought for Earth, she’d spend time as a “lesser” gem amongst other “lesser” gems, gaining new perspective on their lives and feelings. After meeting the fusion of two different gems, a common Ruby and a rare Sapphire, she would come to fight not just for the Earth, but for gems. For their freedom, for their right to self-determination, self-expression, and solidarity, even if their bodies or choices are considered “wrong.”

It’s unclear whether Pink Diamond abandoned Spinel in the garden before or after she made the choice to stage her own shattering and live as Rose Quartz. It could have happened at any point between Pink being granted a colony and Pink going through with her plan to appear shattered, so we don’t know how much she’d yet matured at the time. Maybe she’d left Spinel with the intent to come back and brag about her new colony, only to forget about her as she focused on her rebellion. Maybe she grew tired of Spinel who couldn’t understand Pink’s rebellion or take it seriously. Maybe she cared about and remembered Spinel, but only thought to go back for her once “Pink Diamond” was gone, making it impossible to do safely.

Whether or not she cared for Spinel back then, and whether or not she realistically had the chance to go back for her, Pink loved all life, and was inspired by others to grow and change. She sought to leave her old life behind and never look back, but it’s doubtful that she would not have some remorse for her treatment of Spinel in hindsight. She never would have wanted Spinel to suffer the way she did. She can’t have expected that the garden would be untouched and unchanged for around 6,000 years in her absence, and after becoming Rose Quartz full time, all she could have hoped for is that Spinel would have moved on without her in some way. And after the Diamonds launched their final attack on Earth, all Rose could do was protect those closest to her, and continue to protect her now permanent home of Earth.

Rose was no saint or beacon of maturity even after that point either. She lied about her true identity, likely to run from her past and protect herself from judgement. She’d left Bismuth bubbled for thousands of years, possibly because she couldn’t bear to face her, knowing her wish to shatter the Diamonds—herself and her family—to prevent the kind of attack that ended the war. Yet despite her shortcomings, Rose still tried to grow and be better, to make the most of the life she’d made. She bubbled corrupted gems to keep them safe and free from suffering. She took in Amethyst and welcomed her as a Crystal Gem. She fell in love with Greg and learned to appreciate humans for who they are and the lives they live. And ultimately, she chose to give her life to create a new one, able to grow up in the way she struggled to all her life.

Whatever you think of Rose, she was trying to change for the better. No matter how cruel the Diamonds were, they were the ones who pushed her to change. No matter how slow and imperfect her change, Rose’s dedication to becoming better, defying her nature as a gem and her purpose as a Diamond, is what brought Steven into the world, and by extension, what laid the groundwork for gems across the universe to be freed. Rose was complex and flawed, but she did her best to be better anyways. And that’s all any of us can really do.

1. Amethyst

I feel like a kid whenever I'm near you. It's hard to hide, I feel so vulnerable. You stripped me of my armour. You made me afraid but I liked it. I want to tell you that you can strip whatever is left of me, and I will be willing to stand there and let you do it.

But before that, you have to catch me. I like the game of hide and seek, running and chasing. Every time I had to chase you, every time you had to chase me, it gave me the satisfaction that I'm not proud to tell you. Don't give me that look, you and I both know that whatever game we are playing, in the end, the loser gets to win, the winner gets to lose. You know you can catch me, because I let you.

I love whispering things into those pretty ears of yours. Feel them so close that my lips can almost touch your skin. Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes you will stay silent, your skin getting more red, sometimes you will turn around and let your lips touch mine. Your reactions are my goal and I'm an over-achiever.

Teetering between pure love and pure lust, what to choose? Sometimes we are so close to being enemies to each other, then we fall over into lovers. I don't know how we do it but I like to keep it a little ambiguous. The suspension, the uncertainty, those uncomfortable feelings make me feel alive.

Not to mention that people are so confused about us. I bet they can sense something between us, those flustered looks, those closer than necessary touches, those innocent exchanges. They can guess but they will never know the depth of our connection.

I actually love the feeling of sitting on the couch, waiting for you to come home to me. Once we've built our nest, I don't want to leave it. I don't want you to leave either. But I know your free spirit well enough not to tell you my wish. But you can't blame me if sometimes I use some "tactics" to entice you to stay with me. Hey, I can hear your snicker. You think someone like me saying this kind of thing is probably lying. Well, I do lie, but about the opposite thing, I lie to the world that I'm not a home-body, that my life is a constant motion, moving here and there, that I'm someone who always takes charge. My lies will be so convincing that they can even fool you. Yes, I know I like to change things, but look closer, you will find something that stays the same no matter what. I hope you won't give up finding it because I won't make it easy for you to find it. But I know you like a good challenge.

2. Rose quartz

I have so many things I wanted to tell you, but the moment those words arrived at the tip of my tongue, they took a U turn and went back. I don't know why I like to betray myself like that.

I would tell you how this ice cream tastes good, but all I could think about is your taste. I would tell you I like the feeling of warmth when sitting near the fire, but all I could feel is your heat. Same old stuff, same old stories, same old jokes, repeated again and again. What am I trying to hide? Why can't I just say what I want? What am I so afraid of?

I feel like a yellow rubber duck, floating forever on the surface, can't never get deep enough. Well, at least I get to be with you in the bathtub, not complaining. Here I go again, using light words to camouflage my feelings and desire for you. I don't want to be a tease, I want to be an arrow, striking its target at lightning speed.

Use your finger and sink this duck down into the water, and keep it that way. Hold me down, keep me still, until I'm drown in you.

Giving and taking, holding and embracing, I want it all, I don't want a single experience to slip through my fingers, I want to salvage everything, to savour slowly then to devour swiftly.

I want you to be the cold, harsh truth to my soft lies. The punishing force to my innocent crimes. But I also want you to be the embrace that I can fall into, the laughter I long to hear in my darkening days. Greedy, I know. And you can be greedy with me too. You ask and I will give.

Will you say no to my dreams, saying they're just pipe dreams, forever should be in the land of the unreal. Or will you say yes and applaud them? I know I can make them real, I know I can turn my thoughts into things that others can see and feel. I have faith. I just want you to have that same faith with me. Wouldn't it be nicer to have two who dream the same dreams? And nicer still when those two can create something together. I suggest a family, kids, pets, just a few examples.

I wish to take you everywhere, to meet everyone I know and everyone I haven't known. The feeling of a community, of connections always warm my heart. I hope you understand that. But it's okay if you don't, because there are probably lots of things I don't understand about you either. And let's keep it that way.

3. Tiger's eye

I have so many plans for our future. Since the first time when I met you, probably in some corners of my mind, I've been drawing up our plan together, our imaginary home, our imaginary kids, even our imaginary pets.

Talk to me, tell me your own delusions, give me more fuel, rile up my imagination. Delusions create the world. Or so they say, or so I say. Doesn't matter. Because I'm actually nurturing these delusions of mine into reality. Just so you wait and don't act surprised when they do come true. I have the divine on my side. You can't beat it, I can't beat it. And believe me, I've tried.

I've tried to go against the nudges, the little push behind my back so many times. It usually didn't end well. I still found myself in the exact place that I needed to be, whether I wanted to or not.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not saying this to tell you that being with you is against my will or I want to fight back our connection. I just want to explain the way I do things in general. I do bizarre things, say bizarre things sometimes, a lot of times, actually. You would think these are all jokes. They are. When you're viewed as a weirdo, it actually gives you lots of freedom to do things your way without people exclaiming disappointment or shock. What's there to be shocked and disappointed if they already viewed you as someone capable of everything, even unhinged things. This is the way I deal with the world. Quickly, so they will be out of my sight and let me focus on other important things.

For example, you, the sight of you, up close, inching ever closer, faraway, walking away but never be out of my sight. Curate an art exhibition for me. With pieces of art showing your myriad expression and sounds. Showing you in different clothes or without. I'd love to just stand there to watch and listen. Then, when I'm brave enough, I will be an art thief.

4. Carnelian

Let me tell you upfront, I'm not the kind to forgive easily. And I know with each pain I'm getting, I'm also dissing out more pain towards others and myself.

I get easily obsessed about everything, good or bad, mostly bad things. They've burnt a piece of me. I've been betrayed in the past. So many betrayals that made me angry towards the world, towards myself. I just wanted to go away. No, not to hide, but to gather my strength again and come back and confront. I used to be the one that is caught in other's claws, now I know how to catch them in my claws.

But this kind of behaviour ruined my soul. I want to sweep away all these pains and anger, to lighten my existence. It's almost a wish that I've been keeping to myself for all this time. And now you know about it too. And I'm glad that you can help me make it come true. Pull me out of this destructive cycle. Help me breathe and look for the light.

I say hurtful things sometimes, you probably will fall victim to that some day and I want to ask for your forgiveness beforehand. I let my pride get in my way a lot of times. To prove my point, to prove my worth, to prove that I'm strong, that you can't hurt me. But you can, you just choose not to. I know I'm at your mercy. This makes me uncomfortable, but it's actually not so bad. I'm getting used to it. Thanks to your humour and gentle touches. For every hurtful word of mine, you replaced it with your kiss. If I ask you to cry for my pain, will you do it, in my stead?

You sure know how to tame me, or just anyone ever met you feel the same way? Stop, I won't let myself go into that direction of thinking. Let's just focus on us. Teach me how to dismantle someone's defence like you did to me, step by step. Just so I can understand what's being done to me. I want to know everything, grab everything in my hands to understand it.

Don't worry, I won't do it to you, because you will come to me defenceless. Is that how you will win? Will I take all I can and leave you with nothing, or will I give you all and be a part of it? You decide.

Note: I usually pull one oracle card to read their energy better. With this group, three cards wanted to come out. I looked at the cards, the fish, the bear and the scorpion, then tried to put them back because that's too many. Right at the moment I put them back into the deck, I felt a sharp pain in my rib-cage for a split second, so I decided to put the three cards down and read them for this group. And guess what, a part of the stone layout does resemble the scorpion's tail.

5. Aventurine

I'm putting my best behaviour for the world to see, for you to see too. In this world of everyone fighting to get to the top, I just want to honour a softer energy. To nurture and harmonise everything, everyone. But I pursue that desire with the mentality of a soldier, a worker, diligently getting closer to my goal every day. I don't know how to do this, to be honest, I'm properly doing it wrong. Shall I just agree with everything to keep the peace, or shall I fight back?. Is it possible to honour something that I don't understand?

I have a dilemma of being a little people-pleasing. I like to hide and push my individuality to the back. Let my own compass take a back seat while letting others dictate what's good for me. I can't deny that a part of me wish for this. To let others lead me and I will do what was told. And I just want to trust you with that responsibility, putting myself into your hands.

The only thing I want to control is how I do things, those small details to get the job done. I guess I'm just overwhelmed by the large responsibility of life that I fuss about the details. When can I stop putting my mental energy into banal things and think about the bigger picture? Will I ever meet my calling, my destination?

But good news, I'm learning. Those days that I hid in my house, alone, probably did me some good. I'm learning to be with myself. So that I can be with others. You will get an early access, of course, with special service.

I'm glad that I can feel safe with you, enough to whisper in low voice about my spiritual belief. It's always there, with me, protecting me. The last thing I want is to be called strange. Especially from you, and lucky for me, you won't. You will never do that to me, that's your kindness. To other people, they can see me getting upset at our carpet being spoiled by coffee. They probably will think that I was upset because of the cost of getting it cleaned, the ruined aesthetic. But to you, you will understand the reason immediately. You will know that I believe a spirit lives in that carpet and spilling the coffee will hurt them. Keep it a secret for me, okay? Pinky promise.

6. Prehnite

The first time that we met wasn't the first time I saw you. I had seen you ways before that. I just needed time to build my strategy, to infiltrate into your life as smoothly as possible.

I was patient, time was on my side. There is no need to rush. You had your guard up and I didn't want to scare you away. Heck, I sound like a predator, circling its prey. Or maybe I was? You tell me.

But I do know that you didn't make it easy for me to approach you. I have to confess, I almost gave up. I have a habit of letting go too early. A sign of things derailing, then I will be up and going. I couldn't be bogged down by anything, or so I thought. Love was never the end goal for me. It was just a side effect. Even lust had not much meaning to me. I just sped up ahead, leaving them behind. I was pursuing total freedom. I viewed everything as an object to be studied, to extract information from, to help build my personal library. I basically lived in my head.

What's mysterious force that kept my patient in pursuing you, I don't know. Maybe you are the biggest mystery that I've yet to solve. And that thought was the beginning of my demise. At least, my old self's demise. I'm enjoying myself right now, with you.

But you also didn't make it easier when we're together. What are you? Divine punishment? It's not like I have the option to pack by bags and go back to my old way again. I've already burned the bridge leading to it. No coming back now.

You push me to the edge, and I will pull your hand with me. Let's fall together then soaring up again. When our wings are tired and broken, plunge me back to the depth, and I will show you how enticing it is to be with me down below. You're afraid, but you're also brave. I won't do something that I know you can't do or don't want to do. That's our unspoken oath.

regulus black x whimsical!reader

“Baby,” Regulus’ voice comes out two parts affection and one part exasperation as he feels your knees pressing down into the bed on either side of him. You hum distractedly in response, mind wandering to places he knows he can never follow.

He cracks his eyes open, a small smile involuntarily making its way onto his face at the sight of you. You’re as pretty as you always are, so pretty he wonders if you’re actually a dryad of some sort. You certainly look the part, with daisies braided into your hair and miniature toadstool earrings.

He watches as you outstretch your fingers to fiddle with the chain on his neck, your eyebrows bunched in concentration. Your tongue juts out of your lip adorably as you bite down on it, and he resists the urge to kiss you senseless.

The chain Regulus was wearing was nothing more than a thick black string, but it was knotted around various small crystals, courtesy of your hobby of collecting them. When he had first asked you out with a ring, you had shyly given him this string with a single crystal hanging from it – a rose quartz. “For my unconditional love,” you had mumbled, blushing so hard he thought you mirrored a rose. But the pink that coated your cheeks was a lovelier shade than any flower he had laid his eyes on.

From then on, you would knot new crystals onto the string whenever you found them. Regulus was pretty sure some of them had to have been rocks or pebbles, but he loved you too much not to indulge you.

“Mon chéri,” he tries again, amusement seeping into his tone. “It’s 5 in the morning.”

“So?” you ask distractedly, your fingers still tugging and pulling his necklace from side to side. “5AM is when the crystals are most active, you know. This is when they pull the most power from the core of the earth,” you explain matter-of-factly, so dedicated to your task that you don’t notice his smile widening.

You sway forward slightly, unable to balance on the balls of your knees. Regulus silently wraps his palms around your hips, tugging downward until you’re comfortably seated on his stomach.

That was when he noticed you had odd-shaped stones in one of your hands, sunlight reflecting off of them to give a pale blue glow. “What are those?”

You perk up at his question, abandoning your task of trying to tie the stones onto the string. Your head tilts upwards to give him a sunny smile. “They’re aquamarine crystals, obviously.”

“Yeah?” he murmurs, his smile softening. It doesn’t matter how many times you do this, it’s always just as endearing to him. The way you smile fondly at him – like he’s silly for not knowing.

“Yeah,” you beam. “I found these in the stream nearby, the one next to the big daisy field with all the horsies.”

“You walked into the water again, then?”

It’s too laden with fondness to sound accusatory, but you turn slightly sheepish anyway, nodding. Your hands find their way back to his necklace, and this time you manage to loop the string around a crystal successfully. Your face lights up, obviously pleased with your work.

He huffs out a laugh, leaning forward to run his hands down your long skirt. As expected, he finds it damp and sticky. “You’ll have to take a bath, mon amour.”

“In the stream?”

“No,” he mutters, trying but failing to conceal his amused grin. He presses his elbows into the mattress, hoisting himself upwards to press an amorous kiss to your forehead. He can’t help himself, the blush on your cheeks and the shy smile too much for his heart to handle. “In the shower, baby.”

“Oh,” you reply as a way of answer, and Regulus can’t help but chuckle at the slight disappointment in your voice. “Maybe I can shower in the water tomorrow, then? With all the ducks. These ducks are nice; they eat the bread I throw at them. You can come too if you’d like.”

“Maybe,” he replies indulgently, with absolutely no intention of letting you bathe with the ducks instead of with him — but he was never one to deny you anything you asked for.

George Clarkey -veinophobes + ppl sensitive ab wrists may wanna skip this one -But hear me out on this one... G Clarkey just loves leaving hickeys on your inner wrist. -He'll be holding your hand, his fingers overlaying yours and enveloping your hand with his larger hand, practically blanketing it when he just trails his fingers down. His touch lingering and loving every fraction of flesh he came in contact with -He has your attention at this point, and you turn your head to look at him - eyes meeting and holding eye contact as his fingers coil around your wrist and hold it up so that he may press his lips to the back of your hand softly, ever so gently placing the most light of kisses as though you're delicate china just waiting to break, eye contact unyielding as his lips make contact with the back of your hand chivalrously -Then his fingers loosen and slide across your skin, fingers tracing and moving across the skin until they feel a soft beating meet his touch; your pulse. -Thumb pressing down and feeling your pulse - the beating of your heart - the flow of blood around your body that keeps you alive - he breaks eye contact to press his lips to the spot, soft kiss replacing his thumb before he forms a suction -still ever so gently - and leaves a hickey over your pulse point as reminder of his love for you and appreciation for having you within his life. -And you always wear your bracelets and watch on the other wrist. Only the rose quartz beaded bracelet and simple gold chain with your anniversary etched onto a small plate would sit on that wrist. Tightened to stay in place and sit on your wrist, on either side of the hickey that decorated the underside of your wrist - Clarkey's physical bracelet he'd imprint onto you and use to remind you of his love. 

Arthur Televisionnnn -Shoulders :] -He's such a lil hugger and cuddler, always has his arms around you whether he's tired, drunk, busy - it doesn't matter. -Just loves cuddling with you between his legs, resting back against his chest so that he can wrap his arms around your middle and rest his head against yours or pull you back and watch TikToks with you from your phone... -Sometimes from your fave cuddle position however, Arthur likes just resting his head against the crook of your neck and resting there for a bit... -And Arthur just loves laying down a hickey in that position sometimes -Idk, he just finds it comforting whilst your body is squished against him and he can't really move or do anything of his own, to just move his mouth or have something to do with his mouth -Sometimes, that something will just be filling his mouth with you, and just biting down on your flesh n muscle... And he never bites hard or with intention to hurt you - just lovingly sorta resting his mouth there and giving muffled "mhm" or "mnmm mnmm" responses to whatever short questions you'd give whilst he held you in his mouth. -And other than biting, Arthur does sometimes also put his mouth to use by pressing his tongue against your skin, sometimes licking you just to make you yelp an EW get off! but other times grazing his teeth over your skin and creating a little hickey on your shoulder. Maybe a few hickeys on that shoulder. Maybe he lays down loads of little hickeys on your shoulder until you realise he's going overboard and shrug him off, rotating yourself to lie against him and use him as a body pillow instead. -Good thing about those hickeys is that they're in quite a useful place, in the fact that it sorta looks like it could've been caused by a simple collision with a cupboard or something. Not that you have the height to do that, but we digress.  -Only becomes a nuisance when wearing something sleeveless - but even then you don't care, because secretly you're all ooey-gooey inside like a lava cake, knowing that those bruises were formed from the tender moments you spent in your boyfriend's arms whilst he hickeyed you up

ChrisMD -Lower back -Similar to how Arthur sorta relaxes with you between his legs - a common way you and Christopher will spend non-verbal time together, just enjoying each other's presence on that L-shaped sofa in the living room - is with you lying on your front scrolling your phone whilst Chris lies perpendicular to you - on top of your back. -Chris is also much like JJ in the fact that he's not really a massive fan of hickeying, but he finds it funny to leave them sometimes just because they annoy you. -pulls away from your skin giggling you you realise he's been leaving hickeys over the small of your back and you batter his head with a cushion -one thing Chris does is put his hand around your waist by sliding his hand across your back to the place just above your hips where his hand normally sits... -And hearing you let out a little noise at the feeling of his hand brushing over the tender skin where he's left bruises n hickeys always lowkey gives him a little kick + turns him on a bit

Arthur Hill -Jaw jaw jawline jaw -I feel like Arthur is such a kisser, especially after concerts - loves returning back to the hotel, collapsing onto the bed with you on top of him - bodies flush and lips moving synchronously against one anothers' -Fighting belts and zippers to undress one another completely ravenously  -Your head inches just slightly upwards, catching a breath of air whilst you can feel Arthur's fingers toying with your skirt - though his mouth is unrelenting and lands on your jaw as you move your head - his mouth latching and leaving a FAT hickey there, right over your pulse point  -Does feel bad the next day when you're struggling to disguise it though, especially when you complain about how difficult it is to put concealer over them when that skin is so sensitive -Then he soothes you and apologies with sweet, chaste kisses all over your face - kissing extra delicately over your jawline <3

Cam Kirkham -Ahhh lower stomach mannnnn -Guys. Cam Kirkham is just such a cutie like, he's 100% treating you so so so well in a relationship.... -And I imagine that his aftercare is just so top tier -Like, he's just spending time with you... He's put the show you're binging atm up on the telly, n he's resting his head on his lap whilst you're skimming your fingers through his hair and resting whilst enjoying the show... -And Cam just turns his head, laying down a few wet kisses against your skin, that bit exposed between the top of your shorts and bottom of your crop top... -It's such a sensitive spot too, like, imagine being tickling n feeling lips moving over that? You whine a bit n shuffle, mumbling at Cam about it being sensitive... -He just tells you to lie on down whilst he leaves some little markings on your lower stomach, below your belly button - sorta like his symbol of love n affection  -And ofc when it gets sensitive you wrap your legs around his body like a koala hugging a tree -And probs just fall asleep like that. Him falling asleep using your tummy or thighs to rest his head, you yourself falling asleep whilst your fingers are carded through his hair too.

Italian Bach -Oh this is without DOUBT a man that loves just getting all over your neck -Nipping and sucking over your neck until he finds your sweet spot  -And ugh he's so tall like is he six foot or more? Idgaf, imagine him sat down - legs manspread out whilst you're sat on his lap, back arched and leaning into his touch whilst he is attacking your neck RAVENOUSLY - leaning down to have his lips absolutely flush with your collarbone n neck, eyelashes brushing over n almost tickling your skin whilst he avidly moves his mouth over your flesh -Ends it off with a passionate make-out session, too - detaching from your neck and smashing your lips together to share the most sloppy n zealous open-mouthed kiss -Will hold you proudly against his side the next day too, just so proud of his work on your neck n markings of what he's done to you  -Smug lil smile with his arm around your shoulders, that smile spreading into a grin if he notices anyones' eyes flicker down and look at the almost brutal markings on your neck for just too long

no— like would be the world's greatest understatement. satoru feels about spoiling you the way he feels about you— he doesn’t just like you, he‘s utterly enamored with you. if you asked, he'd move mountains for you. or give up a portion of his candy; both are equitable in his bright eyes. he loves you so much that he'd skip a basketball session with suguru or leave in the middle of the fight to throw the leftover scraps of a cursed spirit to whoever was unlucky enough to be there at the time; you're more important. you've always been.

yeah, that’s gotta be it. a perfect way to paint his feelings for you on a pure canvas brightened by your smile, light as a feather and lively as the sun. and you're completely deserving, he thinks— you, who's always been so patient and kind with him.

as such, he thinks it’s a crime to waste such a beautiful figure on things less than lavish dress and delicate jewelry; but to be honest, he thinks you could don a potato sack and still make it look exquisite. nevertheless, each time you protest when he drapes another dainty necklace glittering with gems cut from a million-dollar wallet and 58 facets (all the reasons he loves you— that's what he calls them.), he shushes you promptly with a swift, sweet kiss; you get a noseful of his expensive cologne every time he sidles up to you and gets comfortable. which, for the record, is quite often.

out of everything he gets you; bouquets of beautiful speckled flowers that look as if a painter dumped their entire palette of pastels and pretties onto the petals, sweet chocolates dark with the tiniest amount of cherry liquor in the center ("i don't need them— i already get drunk off of you, sweetheart!"), fragrant perfume or the latest comfortable clothing that catches his eye (this one's less common. he likes it better when you're only in his clothes.), jewelry is the one he always finds his way back to the most often.

why? well, if you ask him— there's nothing better than being sprawled on your couch with his head in your lap, nuzzling into your warm hand as he catches a whiff of the perfume he gifted you last week paired with the reddest rose he could find on your wrist. your hands card through his hair, and he uses the opportunity to catch your arm before you can move any further, giving you a smug grin as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a box.

(it's a little embarrassing the amount of times you've thought he was going to propose from that alone.)

you'll open it, and it'll be a pretty silver necklace that matches the one around his neck, or a gold ring with ornate details that he slips onto your fingers after taking your hand in his and pressing a kiss to your knuckles with a smile and a laugh. sometimes it's a bracelet adorned with rich jewels the color of your eyes; maybe something rose quartz to represent the flush on his cheeks you always seem to elicit or a marigold yellow to show the pure joy he gets from being around you. if you ask him about it, he'll just say, "i wasn't kidding when i said i get drunk off of you, baby." with a boyish giggle that's far too charming to not have been used in his younger years to get his way and a sweet little wink of an afterthought that has your heart racing.

on the occasions when the gift is far less... appropriate, you'll always sigh and chastise him with a shake of your head because you both know the fabric will be torn to shreds in a matter of a few minutes. he does it anyway, though. he's always been a little bit of a brat in that sense.

whatever it ends up as, satoru absolutely adores seeing your reactions; the cute flush on your cheeks when you accept it with a little thanks and a kiss to his cheek, leaning forward on the tips of your toes because he's too tall for his own good. maybe even to hook a finger around the bridge of his sunglasses for lips to lips, if he's lucky. of course, he knows he doesn't have to buy your affection— you've made that abundantly clear in moments he doesn't like to think about as anything more than vulnerability when he's worn out, but there's just something about you that makes him want to pile it on. he's always had more money than he knows what to do with, anyway.

and maybe, just maybe— one day he'll dare to hope for a future past school hallways, flattering dresses and skirts or sneaky kisses when he's a little sweaty and his jacket is in your arms and you're on the bleachers, hijacking shoko's pack of cigarettes while the squeak of shoes on the gym floor and the sound of a basketball rattling in the hoop fills your ears. past nights when you're curled up in his arms and he can comfortably rest his head in the crook of your neck, tucked away where it always should be (and always will be).

he'll hope for days when he gets to wake up to you by his side, a silver band with so much more meaning than the fifth one he's given you that week on your ring finger and a matching one on his own, because satoru loves you so much that he'd empty out the vaults of a bank just to make you smile at him. not in the hollow way his father always had at home, or in the obligatory resolute smiles of the servants on his estate, but in a genuine way; a way no one else (except his mom) had ever come close to because if he sold everything he ever had for you, his world would still be right in front of him, holding his hands and kissing his face in spontaneous bursts of love, like shooting stars dancing across his cheeks as a way of thanks.

...so, maybe satoru likes spoiling you so much because you always seem to return tenfold.

My friend - Spirit is telling you that you need to trust yourself! You find yourself hiding away from the unknown, and even the unknown within you. Tap into those darker, deeper parts that you've been shying away from. It's only by integrating those parts that you can become whole. You don't need to be afraid of your own darkness, you need to embrace it, celebrate it. Very much a commitment to yourself kind of vibe.

If you haven't watch Steven universe basically when Pearl first began training Connie to sword fight she made Connie believe that she was only built to live for steven. To risk her life for steven no matter what. Essentially made Connie believe her life didn't matter unless she devoted herself fully to protecting steven. Which was the relationship pearl had with Rose quartz. Even when Pearl's relationship was unhealthy with rose because Rose kept on leaving Pearl for other people, Pearl stayed because what was she made for if not protecting Rose?

Every time he talks about Binghe living for Shen Yuan, he references his own devotion for Yue Qingyuan.

Anyways instead of making a perfect body guard for Shen Yuan, instead Shen Jiu just promotes all the unhealthy things that make Bingyuan. Making Binghe believe that he is a failure if SY disapproves of him/he can't protect SY.

And it's not like SJs training was purposely abusive. Infact he had good intentions he wanted someone to protect his son. But it just ended up being abusive because of SJs own traumas accidentally projecting onto Binghe.

You will have everything financially. It depends where you want to live, of course, but I see a big, cozy house. Maybe a garden too or just some flowers/ plants and sunshine. A few luxury item too. And it's gonna be hard because you can't spend so much time together. I feel both of you are mature, not neccesseraly like you are older, but you are both emotionally available, understanding and open. I feel you both need to pay attention to this, because there are emotions and both of you want to know and understand each other. But sometimes you can get distracted because of work or just because of life, and your responsibilities. So take time to talk to each other always, and this can be a very harmonious relationship. I think you will travel together too, even if you only have time for a little trip sometimes. If you want children, I see a child, but can be that later you have more. I think there will be age difference between the children, if you want more. One of you feel like a little bit of an overthinker or just worry a little too much, but the other person is going to help with that. They feel like a lion or a bear. I mean like they are powerful, succesful, wise but calm too. I see you cuddling after a long day in the couch or in the bed. You can overcome anything together, your spouse is always there for you. It doesn't matter what happened, any bad thing, gossip, they are with you no matter what. And you can give strength and hope to each other. It is a very strong bond between you two.

Sexual chemistry is very strong here. You can be soulmates. I think you will more likely live in a house with a garden, in the suburbs, or there is a park nearby. Don't get me wrong, I can see that you have everything for a comfortable life, but you can find joy in simple things. Watching the birds with the children. Enjoying a hot drink on a cold day. I think you will have a few gatherings too, birthdays or just enjoying a nice meal with friends. I can see 2 children, and I would say at least 2, can be twins. It's a very nurturing connection, it's like your home is your safe place, for both of you, and for the children too. Both of you are givers, I think the children will be like this too, no selfishness in your family. A very happy, lively home. For outsiders it looks like too good to be true, so you need to be careful who you let enter to your house, I don't think they really want to start a drama, more like some people can be energy vampires. Live-in Boyfriend! Dabi/Touya who is highly curious about your self-care routine. The creams, the scrubs, the tools, the processes, and all the smells that permeate the house when you’re having yourself a spa day in your shared space. He watches as you scrub your body in the shower with this paste. What did you call it? “Unicorn dreams”? It was rainbow colored and smelled like mangos and guava. He liked it. He liked when you used it and he cuddled up to you in bed that night he could smell it on your skin and it made him feel like he was in paradise. He’d pull you closer and bury his face in your neck and inhale deeply, it always made him feel good. He would watch when you brought out that awful looking metal thing you used to get rid of any zits you’d have and look on in awe/disgust of the stuff that came out of your face. He watched as you washed your face with this herby smelling green goo and then roll this pink stone (he thinks it might be rose quartz? He remembers you saying it was rose quartz) thing over your face and how it seemed to soothe your previously swollen skin. He would join you in your “bath nights” You and him would shower, clean the tub, and fill it up with hot ass water, sprinkle some stuff in it that makes it smell like lavender and lemon, and he’d sit with you in the tub and was fascinated by the fizzy thing moving on top of the water leaving rainbows and glitter in its wake. He’d watch you do all this, interested by all of it but unless it was the bath, never participated in it. Why should he? His skin was, uh less than perfect he would say. He wasn’t worried about a zit when his face was 70% burned. He liked the shampoo you used but didn’t think it mattered about what he used, as long as it washed out some of the ash in his hair, he wasn’t worried about it. He didn’t think self-care was for someone like him, someone who didn’t care about themselves. But you noticed every time he watched you exfoliate, lotion, cleanse, shampoo, and wash yourself with all your products. He looked like he wanted to join. You knew he didn’t know who to ask for the things he wanted. So, you have him join you. On one of your spa nights you call for him from you guys bathroom. He walks in the bathroom to see two fluffy head bands with a huge bow on them. “This one’s for you, and this is mine!” He looks confused but lets you put on the Hello Kitty head band anyway. You wash his face, teach him how to apply a mask, watch and advise him as he exfoliates his face and you give him his own rose quartz face roller that he’s definitely obsessed with once he uses it. After a long and relaxing shower, you and him put on some eye masks while you drink some fruity water and watch some Twitch streams. Dabi feels, good. He feels clean, he feels taken care of. He’s happy, he smells like mangos and guavas, his skin feels soft and jiggly like a pudding. He likes self-care and he’s happy that you’re the only who showed him that he’s worth it.

I remember you saying a lot of the characters you'd written for had a common theme of loneliness, is there any common theme between the pairings you like or is it just purely "the chemistry is good" ?

there are sooo many pairings with "good chemistry" that totally bore me lmao. no, i've got specific preferences.

Here's one very very specific ship dynamic that I almost always gravitate toward:

Enter a fandom. Find the most powerful villain (or villain-acting character) in this fandom. They must be completely OP, absolutely self-assured in their power and supremacy, all but unbeatable (unless it's by like the plucky hero or whatever). They are smug. They are confident. Their tag is probably filled with reader insert fics with plots like "y/n is dommed by [character] and calls him daddy." This is the Badass.

Find another character. This character is comparatively pathetic. Oftentimes, the fandom joke is that they could never win a fight. If the fandom isn't loudly proclaiming that this second character would get their ass handed to them by, specifically, the Badass, then it's only because the two of them are on SUCH different power levels that the idea of a fight never enters fans' minds. They may or may not actually be a wimp, but what matters is the fandom (and often, the narrative) sees them that way—at least when compared to the Badass, if not universally. This is the Loser.

Then have the Badass get kneecapped with love for the Loser.

They've gotta fall in love in a way that completely destroys them. It makes them fall from grace. It strips away their godhood. It topples their empire. It steals their power, their prestige, their dignity, their confidence, their sanity. It ruins their life.

The Badass would give up everything for a chance to crawl like a worm at the feet of their beloved Loser. They submit themself entirely to the Loser's will. They are but a sword, a toy, a dog, a piece of trash—whatever they need to lower themself to to be allowed to bask in the Loser's light.

The Loser might not even reciprocate.

This is a difficult ship dynamic to be into because even when the fandom DOES ship Badass/Loser, every one of the fics is like "Loser is dommed by Badass and calls him daddy" and I recoil in disgust.

And here's some other ship dynamics I'm into—borrowed from a couple of prior asks I've gotten here and here so if you wanna see me ramble EVEN MORE, I go more in depth in those two links.

the biggest thing that gets me into a ship is unhealthy obsession. Love to the point of self-destruction. Love past the point of all reason. Love like an addiction, love like a poison.

Forms this takes can include:

a worshiper toward their (personal) god. bonus points if the "god" isn't even that great, the divinity just exists in the worshiper's mind and the "god" kinda sucks (billford's a good example; I actually usually prefer the obsession going the other way around, but there's definitely still shades of this in how I write Ford's POV on Bill)

mutual rabidly codependent toxic obsession (example: comics Venom.)

"knight" obsessively in love with their liege. (canon example: Pearl toward Rose Quartz. headcanon example: Zim toward the Tallest. this is gonna be how i write Scaramouche toward Aku.) This can be extended to ships with similar power dynamics like henchman/villain.

your classic yandere. "I love you so much I had to kidnap you," "stay with me and I'll make you sososo happy, leave and I'll kill us both," "I will proactively murder anyone who likes you before you can like them back," "I will rewrite my entire identity to be perfect for you," "I'm so breathlessly euphoric with love for you that I kind of want to slit my own throat" yandere-yandere. (THE yandere: Yuno Gasai. a personal favorite: IDW Tarantulas toward Prowl.)

perpetually unrequited love. it MUST stay unrequited. if it becomes requited it stops being interesting. it must be quietly agonized over for an eternity. Bonus points if the couple once had a chance but the suffering lover sabotaged it. (I've done this with HashiMada, Starscream/Wheeljack, and radiosnake. you could easily do it with Gideon/Mabel or post-betrayal billford.)

"emotionless" characters (like in a "robot programmed without emotions" way, not a "mental illness" way) that somehow gain the capacity to feel love and it becomes their whole identity because they have nothing else. (i don't have an example lmao)

Various tropes I enjoy outside unhealthy obsession (although it can incorporate it):

Anything that lets me write a character romantically waxing poetic over the breathtaking beauty of something that normal people would never consider a potential object of attraction. Like a pteranodon, or a literal triangle with an eyeball, or a pile of black sludge.

The super genius who makes/does incredible things and their personal muse who inspires their work and is in awe of the brilliant things they do/make. they can both be geniuses but don't have to be. (Tarantulas & Prowl; Sir Pentious & Alastor; Ford & Bill)

Toxic exes who still know each other SO well that it's agony to be around each other because they can see everything they used to have.

Characters who make each other Worse. Like their relationship is good, but being together turns them both into terrible people. (Venom.)
