get star seeker sequel adventure thing up and running and through the first case
get datasouls combat toy complete up to the first miniboss combat
catch up on TFJ recap logs
become an accredited AWS Certified Solutions Architect and get that raise my boss has been talking about for ages
get an adjustable standing desk and under-desk elliptical thingy, and otherwise get an ergonomic workstation set up
fix the light situation in the bathroom
get through The Sekimeiya and really go to town on that mystery until it’s solved
also finally play Disco Elysium
finish TFTBN character portraits
get a beatrice portrait for my poster wall
run some TPIVW games
badger the condo association landlady until she does something about the junk clogging up that basement storage room i’m supposed to own, and clean unused bulky stuff out of my house
clearly this waitlist thing isn’t working out so take some steps to see an actual doctor for the first time in like three years (and maybe get a cancer screening, or do something about that closed sinus)
get through the remaining 7 WaniKani levels
August! August was awkward! I thought I was going to lose a lot of time to Trails into Reverie, and so took on a less demanding task deliberately- but I ended up primarily distracted by Pikmin 4 and Master Detective Archives: Rain Code and An Odyssey to the Castle of Vampires, instead. Those latter two are both gonna stick in my head and I need to post about them separately, god damn.
Anyway, as far as clearing out the condo goes- the unit's all set for me to use, and I cleared out my moving bins and that extra bike I don't need or use which my aunt insisted I take, and I figured out a solution for organizing and storing clothes that actually works instead of getting neglected for being too inconvenient. Got new sheets for the beds, got a vacuum and cleaned house... I haven't gotten rid of the old elliptical yet because apparently nobody on craigslist wants an elliptical with no power cord, even for free. Not sure how I'm going to get rid of this thing short of calling a junk disposal service... maybe I can order a replacement power cord online, and then sell it in good condition?
Justice/Arcana kind of fell by the wayside- I spent a couple weeks on this big huge update, and then got kind of paralyzed on how to proceed from there and put it off because it was tough to fit in with other competing priorities. Work got crazy this month, with a huge corporate reorg that involved me taking on a bunch of new responsibilities and handing off some old ones that realistically shouldn't be handed off and are going to be a pain in the neck when I inevitably have to consult on them. I need to get back on the horse with that- and on my remaining kanji reviews, which have piled up to the tune of... almost 200 of them, yeesh.
As for September... I'm taking a full two weeks off for the second half of the month, since I haven't actually had a week off yet this entire year. Since I'm going to have a good long chunk of free time, I'm going to use that to try to meet that milestone for the Datasouls combat toy, which I haven't really touched all year. I also want to properly get J/A moving into the final part of the case- I plan to commit to at least 10 full updates for September, so I don't get stuck in the trap of expecting vague "progress" and never having a quantifiable goal to hold myself to.

9.13.22 Direct
I was honestly too busy to post yesterday, but I wanted to make sure I said something about this Direct, so I'm posting now late to the game.
Wow, that was an interesting one. We got Pikmin 4, which I honestly believed was never going to actually get made. I thought it was just a rumor that it was in development. I know a lot of people who probably screamed in excitement when they saw it.
Rune Factory, Story of Seasons and Harvestella, so much news for us farming game fans! That makes me very happy.
Mario and Rabbids 2 is looking solid.
Zelda is looking like it may have more to do with Skyloft after all. So I am curious to see where that goes.
My friends got their Bayonetta 3 news that they were all clambering for.
We got the Pokémon Stadium games coming to Switch Online!!! Can't wait for that one.
And Rain Code, oh boy, Danganronpa game that isn't Danganronpa, thats exciting to get to see so much of it!

The recent Nintendo Direct could have done with a bit more variety, as there were just too many farming simulators and JRPG, to the point they started blending together towards the end. Even then, there were still things that caught my attention and a couple of good first party announcements, so it wasn’t actually bad. Could have been a lot better however, particularly considering how much time we waited since the last one.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to Fire Emblem Engage, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Rain Code, Octopath Traveller 2, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Ib, the Front Mission remakes, Final Fantasy Theatrhythm and the ports of Sifu and Tunic.
The headline showing Resident Evil Village almost made me scream until they revealed it was a Cloud version. When then they announced all the other modern Resident Evil games were coming to Switch as Cloud versions, I actually face-palmed. I presume those kind of games have been profitable enough as developers keep releasing them, but they are far from ideal and not even available in my country, so I can’t help it but feel certain antipathy towards them.
On the plus side, Golden Eye coming to the N64 catalogue on NSO was a nice surprise, although I still refuse to pay for the Expansion Pack. If Nintendo manages to get most of Rare’s N64 output for the service, I might finally consider it, however.
The new Bayonetta 3 gameplay trailer was great. I definitely like the new combat mechanics they have shown. It would have been better if it had been a proper part of the Direct rather than a separate video, but I guess the content was probably too violent and/or risqué for the rest of the presentation.
After such a long time without any kind of update on it, it was nice to see that Pikmin 4 will finally arrive next year. It would have been better if they had showcased some actual gameplay (and without the unnecessary advert of Pikmin Bloom by Shigeru Miyamoto), but the announcement was nice.
And finally, the sequel to Breath of the Wild has a proper title and a release date. The new trailer was still really cryptic, only showing a couple of new mechanics and a few hints of what the final goal of the game might be: The shots of the murals seem to imply that we will have to save Zelda again while looking for seven McGuffins to stop another demonic invasion from Ganondorf. So a classic Zelda scenario, nothing original but I will refrain from passing judgment on whether I like it or not until we finally get more concrete information. In any case, it’s nice to finally have a proper release date and hopefully the game won’t suffer any more delays.
Now, pardon me while I go to re-tag 400+ posts about “BotW2” with “Tears of the Kingdom”.
