Finally doing an Introduction post 👀

It’s quite long, so I’ll put it as a “Read more”

I don’t necessarily identify with any particular name, but I have adopted a few Proper Noun - ish names which are in the list below. I don’t particularly attach myself to them as I don’t think I have a true name that exists, but the below are some things which I’ve collected that somewhat tangentially relate to myself or that I just, well, like! Aside from those, I much prefer to be referred to by, well, descriptors, I guess? It’s like you would go- oh, look at that ________ over there!/That _________ is……… kinda like that!

I go by any pronouns, including any neos you think might suit my vibe! (that is, only with neo’s that are respectful, ie no slurs/otherwise offensive terms). I much prefer gender-neutral terms along with they/them, but I don’t get dysphoric with masc-leaning stuff. The only slightly touchy terms/pronouns for me are the feminine ones, I mean, they’re fine to use I would just rather they were used on rare occasions/as sayings(stuff like girl).

Now!! That’s!!! A lot of stuff wouldn’t you say? How does one navigate said stuff if you’re browsing my blog? Well!! The featured tags have been edited to feature my most commonly posted about things, and they’re a great way to filter through my blog. I reblog ALOT(especially using the queue, which I choose to not tag), so if you’re interested solely in my original posts I have just the tag for you: Asher’s Ramblings . With one small problem unfortunately. Annoying part being you have to manually type asher’s ramblings into my blog’s search bar WITH a space at the end for most posts to show(I think it’s because at a point I just started to copy and paste the tag instead of manually typing it). Otherwise the featured tags should work fine.

I have additionally created side blogs to reblog my writing ( @jestersrambles ) , dress to impress outfits ( @sillyjesterplaysroblox ) and otherkin posts/reblogs ( @shiftingvoid ) if you’re here from seeing posts related to those and don’t want your dash cluttered with the other stuff I reblog/post about. Keep in mind these sideblogs are updated irregularly/later than this blog so they are a lesser option to the main blog. Alas the choice is up to you. I will not be making fandom-specific blogs as I mostly reblog about those anyway and the purpose of the sideblogs was to allow people to more easily follow for content created BY me. So yea

Sometimes when you interact with someone, you have an image of them in your head. For a lot of people, that is influenced by their profile picture. And if you wish to see me as a Garfield dressed up in yellow and red clown attire that is completely fine! But!!! If you were curious as to what my internet sona looked like, then the closest I think I could get would be my Roblox avatar:

But alas, that is, as well as my current mortal human body, a mere suit, a shell, that contains my true self. Yupp here is where you get an exact description of my Alterhuman/Otherkin identity yippie!!!

The main “kin” identities I identify with are “Voidkin” and “Shapeshifterkin”. I am like the physical/metaphysical embodiment of, well, space, I guess? That is my “home”, anyway. The void is my home. Where I come from. But sometimes I’m also part of it. Not to get too spiritual with it but I do believe in reincarnation in my own way, and I believe that being part of the “void”, or just general “energy” floating around there is the in-between in which my soul resides in between lifetimes.

I think I’ve lived many a lifetimes which have shaped the main forms I take when I’m more, well, shaped. Most of the time the shape I take is mostly humanoid, with various animal/otherwise features at different times, such is the way of being a shapeshifter. I’m vanta-black in colour, except for the two glowing circles that are my eyes. They’re not always visible/open, but a lot of the time are. Also occasionally my teeth/fangs will highlight in a similar way. Oftentimes as of recent I’ve been covered in fur/my silhouette is “fuzzy” on the edges, but there are times when I feel more cool, smooth. The best way I could describe it is the texture of phone/computer screen. That and I’m semi-corporeal. So. Not entirely tangible. I take a liking to forests and dark spooky hallways/general areas, I think at some points I might’ve been something similar to a cryptid. Generally just like to become one with the darkness I occupy, too. Malleable is my shape is all I want to say.

Rarely, but it does happen, I experience more animalistic shifts(in the shapeshifter way, btw, since I know “shifts” is something used by otherkin identities in a different context). The forms I take, then, are most often either feline or canidae in nature. I’ve considered moth and squirrel before but I’m not sure whether I just share some traits/behaviours or whether I have had moments where I was completely shaped like that.

A warranted recent addition/discovery is that I’ve kinfirmed domesticated otterkin for sure! It’s definitely the animal I feel most strongly kin towards, likely a more recent lifetime. That and with my reconnecting to a past hobby, swimming, I’ve also discovered that my various cryptid iterations likely included some kind of sea monster thing. Humanoid, but there certainly are tentacles and fins at times

Well, I guess coming to an end, it would be worth to do a somewhat “DNI” list or whatever people do in that vein, if we’re speaking of interaction. A good rule of thumb would be that, if you don’t fw the things I am or the things I enjoy, probably move along. You’ll probably get a block from me if you’re Homophobic, Transphobic, Racist, Nazi, just generally if you’re a shitty human being and if I don’t block you because I don’t know of these views you hold, I would appreciate if you stay away from me thanks. I don’t enjoy partaking in discourse most of the time, especially if I’m not in a place to speak on the matter(ie not affected by it personally).

Though, I guess since this is tumblr, I guess I should specify my attitude towards shipping. I personally don’t like the terms pro/anti because they’re very reductive and people define them in different ways anyway. I’d say I have like 3 tiers of attitude towards ships:

Tier 1(A-okay with it, no problems here)-basically any ships considered completely unproblematic and healthy. I guess the only one some may disagree with being healthy that I put in this category is (STRICTLY) romantic minor x minor pairings. Because don’t act like minors don’t get into relationships/have crushes. If you make it weird/sexual then that’s on you and you’re weird.

Tier 2-ships where the relationship between the two characters may be seen as toxic or unhealthy. This includes stuff like Yanderes, bully x victim, codependency, non-age related power imbalances, stuff like that. With these, I do ship them, but in the way that I like to see these dynamics explored and written about/depicted. If you romanticise/endorse these then I am not okay with you and if I find out you do this I will likely block you at my own discretion. I just like to see them purely for the angst+the representation.

Tier 3- what you’re likely thinking of. Incest, anything involving minors x adult, SA victim x abuser, sexualisation of minor x minor pairings(yes, even if you age them up). I don’t want to see it. I will likely view you with disgust if I see you endorsing/posting it. I want to clarify I am against witch-hunting and harassing individuals who do this, and that I know some do this as a trauma response. I am not in a place to tell someone how to process their trauma. But I don’t want to see it.

Oh yeah, also, I’m 18, so I guess I should set out some boundaries there. Of course, I have no way of verifying your age and quite frankly I’m not responsible for your unrestricted internet access, so everything is up to your discretion. However. If I may lay down some personal preferences I would say my page is okay for anyone aged 13 and up; just make sure to have the tag “nsfw” blocked since I tag some of my more suggestive posts/jokes that way. As for more personal interaction like DMs or being something akin to “friends”(I don’t particularly like getting close to anyone let alone calling them a friend because of my trust issues, calling someone a friend makes it official and that scares me) I would personally prefer if you were at-least 16, 15 if we’re really pushing it but then again it really depends on how emotionally mature you are on whether we would be able to find common ground.

Feyd is an edgy maleblogger trying to be hard with a name like @poisonedbladecoldplasteel who posts his sparring videos and is mutuals with Duncan. he thinks Paul is a girl and is always trying to get her attention. once Duncan posted a video which accidentally showed the Atreides crest and Feyd went reblogged with a rant about how he can't believe he's an Atreides supporter, does he know what Philippos XV did to House Lankiveil, he's so disgusted. but he didn't actually break mutuals.

Irulan @the-history-heiress is like a prim fandom & history blogger who tries to be informative & professional but isn't terribly good at being accurate. she leaves long comments on all of Paul's soliloquies which he never responds to.

Alia @virginscheme has an incoherent mix of interests and random ravings which only Paul replies to. she loves to mock & correct Irulan, and often sends backhanded compliment anons (especially to Irulan and Rabban).

Rabban @beast-dukeofthedesert-132 mainly reblogs generic memes and cute animal videos and Feyd's stuff and pictures of gorillas. his original posts are entirely in the form of old-fashioned Advice Animals like WHEN UNCLE REMOVES THE KINETIC ARTILLERY BOTTOM TEXT with a very distraught-looking fur whale.

Hello Tumblr visitor, and welcome to Miniventures!

This is a doll-based sideblog of @kessielrg. I take photos and want to tell stories with all the dolls I have: from fashion dolls like Barbie to larger scale friends like 1/3 scale BJDs. Sometimes this includes the collectible figures or miniatures I have laying around as well. I love my stupid effigies, and I WILL show them off. 😂

I will also reblog any other doll post that captures my attention. Usually from a photographic side, but also tutorials or helpful tips that I feel should be shared.

In the future, I want to create photo comics using my dolls as subjects. Even share the oddball short form video for a repair/restore or other doll-based project I was working on. I want to be able to create. I want to be able to inspire.

General about/Tag system info

While I started this blog with archival and elaborate tag systems in mind, it doubles as a general UTDR fanblog.

I do not tag spoilers for Undertale, the first 2 chapters of Deltarune, or any pre-release promotional material. I will temporarily tag spoilers for Ch3+.

In the first few months of this sideblog's existence, I had a different main blog. While I tried to copy-reblog everything I'd archived here, it seems to have fucked up this blog's search system and it only focuses on what I freshly reblogged here (the #tag system is fine). For the best experience in hunting for specific overlapping tags (e.g. "papyrus 2015" for Papyrus fanart from Undertale's release year), you may want to look through this blog as well as @gonermaker-goner . If you don't know how the sitewide tag system works, jump to the very bottom of this post.

I do not use apostrophes in my organizational tags. This is to lower the risk of them breaking. Instead of "#snowdrake's mother" it's "#snowdrakes mother".

No reblog tagged as "au:" or "oc:" is my creation in any way unless specified otherwise. On that note, I tag all fanfic-y UTDR media as an "au" even if it's meant to be a canon-compliant addition to the franchise for organization.

I usually don't tag URLs since it's impossible to keep up if someone changes theirs, but I sometimes tag them for long-deleted blogs like truereset, sweetberrylover, and petscoboba.

I’ve shared like 5 posts that apply, but I tag criticism of the fangame Undertale Yellow as “utyeller neg” for blacklist.

If a Deltarune fanart references the specific events or one-off locations of a certain chapter (fanmade take or official), it gets tagged as that chapter. Characters on their own are not considered to reference any particular chapter (except in the context of content that predates the chapter it relates to). While alternate styles usually count as chapter references (e.g. the Fun Gang's doctor/nurse outfits), Ralsei's black Ch1 form does not due to its widespread use.

From the pre-spamton sweepstakes misconception that the dreemurr tv was named “mike” to people equating him to Friend to the Chapter 4 gag, I consider Mike to be a state of mind. Old tenna art tagged “mike”, old friend art tagged “mike”, and the 3 impersonators are all tagged as the man in this archive.

I used to tag darkners on their own as “#dw”, but this changed to make the tag more useful. It now moreso applies to locations and dark world variants of lightners.

I usually use the queue to publish around 16 reblogs throughout each day (24 hours), but this is subject to change. Exceptions include when I add commentary other than short compliments to a post or when i’m trying to make my queue empty before a certain time period.

I tag Dess and the knight under the same logic I do Flowey and Asriel; anything portrays it as another character will be additionally tagged as that character. By the small chance that I'm disproven, I will change the tagging accordingly.

On Reposts

Tumblr is pretty much the only popular social media site that lets you reliably archive others' posts. Twitter has been a dumpster fire of extreme bigotry, unfixed sitebreaking bugs, and spam for years, yet so many incredible UT/DR artists have used and continue to use it. For this reason, I sometimes repost art from there with the creator's handle captioned and a hyperlink to the art piece. As you may have noticed, reblogs are off for these reposts as they're purely on my blog for archival.

I will take down any art piece if an artist asks me to or if they have an active tumblr of a similar nature. If the latter is the case and an onsite version of the art piece exists, a link to said art is appreciated but not required.

How I'd Make Tumblr More Profitable

Yes, this is going to be controversial, since I know nothing about the behind-the-scenes spending, economics, and all that jazz. But I've been on Tumblr for long enough to have a rough idea of the userbase wants - which is what positions Tumblr in a niche other sites don't really utilize. Most of the points I list here are about improving the experience of existing users, as keeping users might be harder for tumblr than attracting new ones.

Please note that this posts reflects my personal opinions and some stuff I've seen people complain about it. Do not attack me over anything I've written here, it's not worth my time and I will resort to blocking if I'm being bothered. Constructive criticism is fine and encouraged!

Features to Add

Block posts. Xkit has/had this feature, it was great. Sometimes I just don't want to see a specific post, and others probably agree with that.

Send asks and replies from sideblogs. Would literally make a lot of things easier and better.

Delete individual reblog additions from a post. Sometimes, you have a post where there is one"relevant" addition, multiple "irrelevant" additions ("yes!", "[repeated phrase in bold]", "this is a must reblog"), before there is a "relevant" addition again. But right now, you can only remove all reblog additions, not just individual ones. I feel like this would be a neat feature.

Direct blocking of anon hate which also tracks the IP and blocks the associated account(s). No rights for cowards, that's all I'll say.

Features to Bring Back

Reblog chains. Prev tags are the backbone of lots of interactions on here. If I click on someone's username in a reblog chain, I want to see that post on their blog, not their blog starting from the newest post. The loss of this feature is one of the things people constantly complain about in the replies of @changes.

Several text formatting options. As a theme maker, it would be nice to have proper preformatted text again - it makes code so much more legible. Other formatting options I miss are marked/highlighted text and text lines, which are really helpful to visually break apart passages of text.

Features to Ditch

Tumblr Live. There I've said it. If I want to see stuff like that, I have TikTok, IG Reels, Pinterest Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Twitter also has something like this. It's oversaturated, and aparently there are still enough cyber security concerns that it's not even accessible outside of the US and Canada.

Ads in lightboxes. Especially on mobile, there are already more than enough ads on the feed, no need to add more nested inside other elements.

Features that Make Money

Pay for NSFW. If this site allowed full nudity etc. again but hid it behind a paywall, we'd kill two birds with one stone: The site would probably still be allowed on the App Store, and the money influx would be huge. The userbase would also increase again.

(If Tumblr Live is kept.) Pay to snooze Tumblr Live permanently. It's the most complained about thing in changes' replies, so I feel like people would pay on a subscription base just to not see TL anymore.

Pay to increase limits. 250 posts per day is the maximum that can be posted - and there are people hitting those limits. If there was an option to buy a higher limit (500p/d, 750p/d, etc.), people might generally use it. Like those add-on charges for mobile data. Same goes for posts in the queue, posts in drafts, images in a photoset and so on.

Pay to pin posts at the top of a tag or search result. Ebay Kleinanzeigen has this neat feature where you can push your small ads to the top of a search query so that more people can see it. This could be a cool feature to try, as it would work in a more content-aware way than Blaze does.

Pay to buy inactive URLs. There are some really cool usernames on here that are taken by blogs that haven't updated for 5+ years and only have one post (or none at all), and I feel like it would be neat to be able to buy one of these cool usernames attached to an empty account. To make sure that usernames attached to redirect or something else don't get bought, tumblr should send an e-mail to the username owner - if the user doesn't react to that for 3 months, the usernames changed owners. Existing Features to Improve

NPF posts. I feel like a combination of legacy and NPF would be neat. Think selecting a main element like in the legacy editor (e.g. video, image, audio) and then adding a caption that can add different content types like NPF does. Or at least create a better overview over NPF variables and release the full base code with documentation to make things easier for the web designers on here. There are more issues with the NPF format but I won't list everything people dislike about it here.

Block people. The block feature should make sure that the person being blocked doesn't see any posts made by the person they were blocked by, even if those posts were reblogged by another user. Also, like IG does, there should be an option to block either just a specific blog or the IP address attached to block side-blogs and other accounts of that user.

Color palettes. The color palette options for the dashboard are generally a nice idea but I think it would be better if there was a dropdown menu to choose a palette from rather than having to click through all the different options. For example, if I want to go from Cement (light mode) to Dark mode, I have to click through 10 options until I reach Dark again. There has to be an easier way. [added 20th July 2023]

Other Improvements Needed

Nuke spam bots. Users are reporting all the spam bots, yet, it doesn't seem like they are dwindling in numbers. Also - at least this is how it's being perceived by the userbase - tumblr isn't doing enough on their end to reduce spam bots. This is definitely something that needs to be fixed.

End hateful and criminal activities. It's the year 2023, yet there are still outright N*zis, violent tr*nsphobes, literal p*dophiles, and other people committing to the daily bit of hate speech and other illegal activities (fraud too considering all those fake GoFundMe sites) on this website. I'm not saying free speech should be banned but there is a bright red line between what is free spech and what is hate speech (or should get you jailed considering fraud and p*dophilia).

A through-out, perhaps even interactive, beginner tutorial. "The site is too complicated to use for new users!" – then explain how it works in easy terms, with examples, images, and videos. Every other application or web app has walk-throughs, just do the same here.

Improved ad relevancy. The ads I see on tumblr are usually so out-of touch with the userbase, and many of them feel like the sort of stuff you see on a spam-ridden torrenting site. I feel like increasing the relevancy of ads to what the users usually blog about would cause a higher click-rate and turn-over-rate than the current ads do.

Summary

There is probably more I could add, but that's it for now. Should I make any later additions directly to this post, I will mention it to prevent misunderstandings. If you have any ideas or constructive criticism, let me hear about it in the replies or reblogs of this post.

Stuff about this blog:

- It runs on a queue! I draw a lot, so I’ve got the queue set to post twice a day. I’ll often post more than that if I’ve got a big backlog, though.

- It’s primarily an archive for my work! Though I do like attention, the primary purpose of this blog is to store my art in case I ever lose access to the original photos and/or sketchbooks. Because of this, I pretty much post everything I draw, as opposed to just the stuff I really like.

- It’s mostly my visual art, but I sometimes post my writing here as well. Most of it I just stick on ao3, though, so if you’re looking for that my username there is solena2 as well.

Interaction:

- feel free to send asks and stuff! I will respond to them! I love attention.

- I read all of the tags. If you tag my art with something nice, I will see it and I will smile very wide.

- I typically don’t respond to comments on my posts! On tumblr, you can only reply to posts with your main, and this is a sideblog, so I avoid replying to my own posts to prevent confusion. If you’d like me to respond to something you say, please put it in a reblog or an ask!

- Do you have questions about my OCs? My process? Did you see a cool rock this morning and thought I would like it? Send it to me! I cannot overstate the degree to which getting asks fills me with joy!

Commissions:

- I don’t do commissions as a regular thing and don’t really consider myself to be a professional artist, so I don’t have any kind of default pricing scale for them or anything like that, but if you want to pay me to do art for you I’m probably down with that. Just send me a dm with what you want and how much you’re willing to pay for it and we can discuss from there.

- For pricing, please assume you’re paying at least minimum wage and that anything more complicated than a sketch is going to take a couple hours. Minimum wage in my state is about $15/hour.

- I might also be willing to do stuff for free or for cheap if you’re a friend or there’s some other reason I’d be willing to charge less from you, but if I do something for you for free I’m only going to put as much effort in as I feel like. You get what you pay for, you know?

- If you want a commission from me, a person who does not regularly do commissions, please assume I know jackshit about standard practice for them because that is in fact the truth.

- This section only exists because I keep getting questions about it. If I ever start doing commissions regularly, I’ll redo this to be less vague.

Other stuff:

- Feel free to use my stuff for things as long as you credit me! Whether that be using my art as a reference, directly tracing it, sticking it in a slideshow where you repeatedly call it a crime against the medium... I don’t really care! - The only situation in which I care even slightly about people doing things with my art is if it’s a commission. If it’s a commission, I don’t own it and therefore cannot grant permissions about how the image can be used. If you want to do something with a piece I did on commission, ask the person who commissioned it. All commissioned pieces on this blog are labeled, so there shouldn’t be any confusion there.

Tagging:

- The TWs I try to reliably tag are eyestrain, blood and body horror. For pretty much anything else, send me an ask about it and if it’s just a couple posts, I’ll add the tag, though if it’s like half my blog it might be a better idea to just unfollow.

- My phase tags are so I can easily find my stuff by post date, and also to make it easier for me to gauge my progress. I update the number approximately at the start of each month, though sometimes I’m a couple days off for whatever reason.

- My favorite art is tagged “fav”. Usually I go through my posts every couple months and stick the tag on a bunch of stuff, as opposed to adding it when I make the post.

- My “ballgown” tag isn’t necessarily for actual ballgowns. It’s more just fancy clothes in general. Things just worked out that way.

- Fanart is tagged “fanart” and original art is tagged “original art”. Older original art is tagged “not fanart” which I changed when I realized how tumblr’s search works.

- Posts in color are tagged “color”. If you’re looking for stuff of mine that’s more than sketches, this is probably the place to check.

- The abstract pieces I do are tagged “abstract art”. Stuff in this tag is typically what I use for my blog banners. And also my home screen.

- Every post on my blog is tagged with “art” and “sketch”. It just worked out that way.

- Digital art is tagged “digital art” and traditional art is tagged “traditional art”. Older traditional art doesn’t have its own tag, since when this blog started it was pretty much all I did so I didn’t need to differentiate.

- “old art” is the tag for really old art of mine that wasn’t posted when it was drawn. This tag typically shows up on my redraws of my old stuff.

- “Redraw” is my tag for redraws. I do them occasionally for fun.

- Posts tagged “reference” were drawn using a different image as a reference. Many of the older posts on this blog don’t credit the reference in question at all, which is a practice I’ve decided to move away from. The reason these posts stay up is because of this blog’s status as an archive.

- Comics are tagged “comic”.

- Non-art posts are tagged “not art” and “off topic”. If they’re text posts, they’re tagged “text post”. Reblogs are tagged “reblog” and/or “self reblog”, as appropriate.

- Every character who appears in a post is tagged. I do my best to use the same tag for the same character every time. Characters with ambiguous names (ie: Ghost from Hollow Knight) will usually have their fandom name included in their character tag. (ie: “hk ghost”)

- Shitposts are tagged “shitpost”

I keep running into it, and it seems to be all over the place and on (seemingly) unrelated gifs. It’s such a mystery to me, and it’s a little thing I know, but... it’s just frustrating not knowing, you know?

Again, sorry for the off topic ask, but you are such a nice and tumblr-savvy person, I thought I’d ask here first.

Hi there, anon! Don’t apologize for asking, it’s a good question to ask! Anyone would be curious about a tag that keeps popping up a lot in people’s posts. The tagging on posts, especially gif sets, can be confusing if you don’t know the context or what the tags themselves mean. I didn’t understand what it was all about at first either and it drove me bonkers but it’s really simple! :)

‘bbelcher’ is the personal tag of the popular movie/tv/actors/pop culture related blog @bob-belcher. It’s run by several gif makers (admin + fellow members) who are tracking this tag so that other gif makers can use it on their posts and get noticed and reblogged by said blog. bob-belcher’s reblog gives exposure to all sorts of great gif sets that may not have gotten noticed as much if the gif makers only used common tags like “name of movie/series”, “name of character”, “name of ship/pairing”, etc. bob-belcher helps them get some exposure and circulation via their large following.

You might have noticed other similar tags on posts, such as ‘cinemapix’, ‘doyouevenfilm’, 'fyeahmovies’, ‘tvseriessource’, ‘marvelheroes’, ‘magicfolk’, ‘thestarwarsdaily’, and so on. They’re usernames of blogs akin to bob-belcher. ‘Magicfolk’ is for Harry Potter stuff, ‘marvelheroes’ for Marvel projects and actors. The blogs all state somewhere in their intro which particular tag they’re tracking. And the bigger the fandom, the more likely it is such “member blogs” exist in it.

Some blogs track more common gif/edit tags like ‘tvedit’, ‘filmedit’, ‘marveledit’, ‘perioddramaedit’, while others have decided on a personal tag related to their username, that’s why there’s ‘bbelcher’ for @bob-belcher, ‘userstream’ for @stream (a tv/movie blog), and ‘chewbieblog’ for @chewbacca (also tv/movie). Spelling it a bit differently or using a variation on the name prevents tumblr from confusing the tags ‘chewbacca’ the Star Wars character name and 'chewbacca' the username. There are a lot of tags along the lines of ‘userPERSONALNAME’ and they often refer to a person’s main blog. To give an example, in line with the naming trend, I could have named my own tracked tag ‘userpoirott’ or 'userNICKNAME’ or similar for people to tag it in their posts they wanted me to see/reblog, but 'poirott’ works just as fine as a tag name and it doesn’t get mixed up with any common tags like ‘poirot’ the fictional character. :)

It took me ages to realize chewbacca (and others like it) isn’t just one person! The common thing about these big name blogs is that they’re run by more than one individual. Bob-belcher has 20+ and chewbacca 50+! Staff members are listed on each blog. Their job is to check the tracked tag(s) frequently and queue the posts for reblogging, it’s why it may take a few days for your gif set to get picked up, depending on how busy their queue is. They have a system and certain rules all members must follow.

They also create their own gif sets exclusively for the blog, on top of gif sets for their main/personal blogs or even sideblogs. The way they join these big blogs is by appying for a staff member position. I know some gif makers who are members at several big name blogs because they’re passionate about giffing and make a lot of gif sets across fandoms. :) By reblogging gif sets via the member blogs they’re supporting fellow gif makers, new and smaller fandoms, as well as vintage tv/films and everything inbetween. I’ve lost count how many great tv shows, films and gif makers I’ve been exposed to thanks to reblogs.

I was in high school and I’ve always been a bit of an internet gremlin and my friend told me she discovered this great new social media and that i had to make an account and try it because it’s really great. I wanted something that referenced the natural world or anatomy or evolution in some way and I landed on the one that I thought had the prettiest latin name. I was almost bisynapsids which would have been cool too. I played around with edgy names of bones and stuff before settling on the name for one of my favorite wild animals

ok I never understood how “sideblogs” worked so I just made an entirely new tumblr when I wanted to focus myself on ba/ccano. I had a really fun time for a few years and the community was wonderful but I ran out of juice last year and haven’t been back. if anyone’s interested it’s @eyes-like-a-gentle-knight (wordy, I know). there was so much good novel content I loved it. still waiting on those last two books narita!

umm 44? it’s really hard for me to follow people I legitimately feel sick when I do it more than one a week or something. the dash NEEDS to look a certain way and I NEED to get to where I was last time and so I am very very picky about who I follow. also when I break mutuals I feel horrible and guilty so I try not to have too many

yeah I also work and I can’t have my phone in the lab so for 17 hrs a day I’m asleep or away which is very good but most of the rest of the time I’m on here...which is fine tbh I like it and I know I have nothing better to do rn. school will start again and I won’t be able to be on here as much :(

I feel like usually nobody “wins” these fights. I am bad at articulating my point and I hate confrontation so I usually just block but when I get an anon trying to argue with me I’ll sometimes respond and I feel like I win those? but like, it’s anon. I’m just responding. like someone sending me flack for tagging my hate for bad ship and I gave this long-winded and lbr kind of annoyingly self-righteous response that at the time I felt very pleased with. but it didn’t work bc I kept getting anons trying to convince me or discuss with me why they shipped it and im like idk!!! go away!!!

okay early in the year I got an ask like “how do you feel about wwx being lame in cql” and I got kind of defensive bc I thought they were one of those diehard novel fan but they came back and were like “oh sorry I’m into the donghua and you have a point and this isn’t productive to discuss” so I kind of feel like I won? 1. why did you choose your url?

Fangqueen has been my username on every other platform for...idk, probably like 12 years at this point. And most importantly, it’s the name I publish my fanfiction under on AO3, so I figured it was about time my Tumblr matched.

2. sideblogs?

I used to have blogs for rp characters I played......but yeah. We don’t talk about that. 😅 I’ve deleted them all since then anyway - except for one that was special to me. So no sideblogs, I just dump everything on here, haha! Unless you count my blogs for the fests I run, @rondracofest and @hpcrackficfest.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

Ten years in September, babyyyyyy! 😂 Of course, I’ve changed my username a couple times over the years, but yeah, I’ve been on this crazy site for ten fucking years, wth.

4. do you have a queue tag?

I have to be honest, I either rb immediately, or schedule for a specific time later on. Literally didn’t even use my queue till I started doing fic recs, haha. So I guess I could technically say it’s #fangqueen recs fics, ‘cause those are the only posts I use it for.

5. why did you start your blog?

Honestly, it was so long ago, I have no idea, lol! Probably because other places I’d frequented prior to that time (and sometimes still do), like LJ/DW/IJ, Hex, etc., were kind of starting to die out, and I heard Tumblr was cool(??? 😂), so I decided to check it out.

6. why did you choose your icon?

This picrew is adorable, and actually looks pretty close to me in real life, haha! Plus it had flag/button options for both bisexual and bigender, and I couldn’t pass that up.

7. why did you choose your header?

I’m fangqueen. It’s fangs. That’s pretty much it, LOL.

I honestly have no idea how you would even find out something like this. 😂 I looked on my activity page, but it’ll only let me go back as far as a month. So in the last month, my top post has been me talking about why I love Dron.

I don’t think so, no. I don’t know if it’s ‘cause I’ve been a smaller blog most of the time, or because I just don’t normally get involved in that sort of thing, but nah. I’m also never afraid to block people, so maybe it’s that, haha.

15. how do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

As a person who’s suffered from anxiety disorder most of their life, I’m very much against those kinds of posts. I know what it feels like to be trapped between having a bad mental health day and not feeling like I have the ability to read/deal with whatever the post’s talking about, and also having a bad mental health day and feeling like I’d somehow be a bad person if I didn’t. I don’t think merely clicking the rb button on fucking Tumblr dot com automatically makes you a good/bad person, and I don’t think it’s right to play with people’s emotions and anxieties about such things just to spread your message. What you choose to put on your blog is up to you, and what you choose to devote your mental time and energy to is up to you. It’s always fine to say “this is important, but I don’t have the capacity to engage with it right now” and skip the rb.

When someone doesn't reblog, it isn't because "omg it's so much work!!" it's because they simply don't want to reblog it. maybe it doesn't fit the content of their blog, maybe they only liked it to save it for later, maybe they have a queue set up that you don't know about, but literally anytime I see posts guilting people for not interacting with content in the "right way" I make sure to never, ever reblog their work or better yet block them entirely. you can kindly ask for more reblogs without making people feel bad because they didn't want to reblog your work. they don't owe you reblogs, just like you don't owe them free content. there are plenty of ways to get people to reblog your work (reblog4reblog, making work more accessible to the masses, etc) without trying to make people feel like shit for "only" liking your post. likes might not help you but they also don't hurt you. please grow up.

Here’s the thing, though, for people who are genuinely wondering why this is being brought up:

I’m aware of queues, those are perfectly fine! I use the queue function myself on rare occasions.

And “doesn’t fit the content of their blog”? Sideblogs! Those exist! You can make sideblogs to literally put content on them that you wouldn’t otherwise put on main!

We’re not asking people to interact with our content in the “right way”, we’re asking people to just have some damn courtesy and share our work to show that they like what we do, to show that yes, they would like to see more! 

We’re sure as hell not GUILTING people, where the fuck did you get that from? You cannot deny that over the last two years, people have been reblogging shit less and less, and it’s because people think tumblr works like twitter, when the two sites, in terms of content visibility, could not be any more different. Artists, gifmakers, editors, writers & other content creators simply do not get the exposure and visibility that they used to as a result.

It isn’t about guilt. It’s about genuine interest in somebody’s hard work. Not interested? Don’t interact with the post, period. Simple as that.
