whats the difference between grundos cafe, neopets, and other neopets fansites?

Beyond just elements like UI and fanmade things like paints/styles.

I'm trying to get myself to commit to playing more on neopets more than what I have, which, is hardly at all. I might enjoy a site that gives me more freedom, no FOMO, no transactions, I can work towards what I want without barriers or time restrains.

But I adore true neopets. Its just hard to see what some are about until I'm able to commit time into accounts - especially if Im going to wait a bit to join Grundo's Cafe.

totally understand, thats why I had my Grundos Cafe account 7 months ago but hadnt moved there until recently. GC is a remake of classic neopets but with some gameplay differences to improve the site.

Absolutely no bigotry is allowed on GC. IP that promotes hate speech isn't even allowed. This is what made me go 'okay Ill start over on here' Because I couldnt stand the poor moderation on Neopets anymore.

On the flip side of that, the rules on boards are so much lighter every where else. It feels like you can actually chat with others

2) The items on GC have a purpose to the game play. I see the Neoschool mentioned a lot but theres even more than that! Petpets will ask for food and a daily item, Guild Gardens can be donated to with gardening supplies, Your Neopets can learn a musical instrument, plushies can be played with and tracked. I think theres more Im forgetting

3) This one feels ridiculous unless youve been playing Neopets but Things on the site just work. I didnt realize how in the habit I was of not clicking things on the site. like the world challenge, puzzle emporium, and the help section. Because theyre either so out of date or not running on Neopets. They actually run on GC

4) Im mentioning this one only bcz it drove me insane on Neopets. All the parts of the submissions to the Gazette (their version of Neotimes) actually works. Hell you can even edit your submissions up until the close off date. You dont need to know what times youre supposed to submit by ridiculous tracking of what dates the judges looked at last, it tells you if submissions are closed. Thats it. It just works. Yes even the thumbnail image attachment.

Other random things but this list would be too long: RELICSSS, site events, customizeable sidebar, their pride REs are so damn cute, better notifications, All of the Quests are useful and not either broken or worthless, Gilded name tokens, shield tokens, really all of the tokens (which are part of relics), all the converted games work, Blocking actually blocks, ability to ping ppl on boards, view sent neomails, soooo many QOL things like it would be an endless list

I'd honestly prefer no remake. They can't fuck up Ezio's character and story if they don't use it. XD Plus, the games are still good experiences if you don't expect modern graphics and gameplay. ^^

Like Baldurs gate 1-2 deserve a remake purely bc they are so hard to play due to when they were made.(Try it and u will agree i lasted 10 min in that ui) İts not fun for ppl who didnt grow up in that generation so a remake would be amazing esp with BG3s popularity now.

But AC series dont rlly need a remake, they still look beutifull and they are still playable.

Clunky? Yes, esp some parts but playable and many of the mistakes can be fixed by fixing bugs and problems rather than a REMAKE. Water looks good textures look good and character models still hold up well. Slap some shaders on, and voila.

U dont need to HDfy and remake every texture pf the game bc then u get ac3 remaster, silent hill remaster.

i just finished ffxv like last night (more like early this morning...) but lowkey i was too depressed to go through the dlc. this was really sad.

SPOILERS (MAIN story didnt open it back up to ch 15 yet)

i think if you are a #loyal fan then you read that last post where i meant to play this game originally. lowkey i liked this better than the remake even though everyone else hates on it. i think after going through the game's history the ending did feel a little rushed so i didnt feel the exact same sadness i did with ccr but i nearly shed a tear at that ending. IMO this game really had a lot of potential, like i don't understand the complaints about the open world. like u hear botw is great an all but it has the exact same "issues" tbh—i have it in quotes bc ofc the open world is going to be a little bit more empty—if you go outside everything will be empty too?? and i mean like at least just about every structure in this game has a side quest tied to it, while botw/totk leave SOOO many mysteries and have such a strange connection between the lore; this one just has too much for you to think about it in detail. like compared to ff7r there feels like more in ffxv too, ive got like 50hr in xv compared to my barely 30 in remake. though afaik rebirth is open world (sale was only $48 too expensive for license only will review when it goes 50% off ish) and the original by technicalities is as well and really this game kind of feels like a precursor to ff7r. like theres an anime, a movie, and a novel too but SO much cancelled content (which apparently was cancelled bc the director left on "good"(BAD) terms with sqenix and the team and budget were moved over to some other game) like i watched one of the old trailers right after finishing the game and lowkey now I'M pissed off on Tabata's behalf like the only reason this went to essentially shit is due to tabata's corporate opps... did they not pay attention to shinra at all?? i heard xvi and rebirth did NAWT sell well (obvs in part cause they were ps exclusive) and that i say is tabatas curse.... like ?/?. off topic but i saw that evil cs major again. i think we made eye contact. MY fault for going outside (it was an omen). back to topic at hand im looking at tabatas works (includes ff7cc) and honestly afaik these have a totally different feel from the other guy's (nomura idk) work like i think i dont have anymore to say on this topic but i have more to say

ffxv feels soooo American like maybe its just cuz of cindy (speaking of im kind of surprised they didnt just rate the game M) & i remember back in 2016/17 when the game came out it was so hyped up and for good reason cuz its open world but with a car. i feel like the game is car centric (just like american society!!) and like even when its not you get to see these huge big cities like altissia (felt like i was playing infinity nikki there lol) or insomnia or even lestallum but the game again really just gets cut short at Nibelheim (Nifelheim??) and the relationship with the bros gets explored really deeply. the thing with that though is the relationship with luna does not.... like prompto and noct have better chemistry than noct/luna (tbf luna was the one that set them up). i feel like though you need to see the companion media to experience the full game, like when i got to insomnia i lowkey dgaf until i watched brotherhood (im inspired by prompto) bc you see all of the bros with noct and it kind of just sets in how bad its really gotten for Lucis (speaking of, the map is unfinished?? there seems to be a region next to insomnia + insomnia is on the base map looking regular so i wonder if there was gonna be more... same with altissia bc you can get to altissia and the main continent directly but not nifelhiem) bc lowkey the game doesn't really set it in for you. not that big of a deal though especially since 7 has the same issue.

ok. Lorillee types out a post-game impressions for the first time in like 3 months. Functionally theres not all that much to say about this game since the amount of substance here is. Well. i mean its a yakuza zombie apocalypse game . LOL

ill be honest with you i think if this game was actually playable it would be regarded much better. Which to be fair is a pretty reasonable request to have of a game but like the point stands

honestly like this game is really just pure spectacle and frankly the plot is mostly just an excuse to have all of our characters running around guns blazing at zombies as opposed to the zombies serving as a device for the story. LOL

that being said im crazy about this i think its just obnoxiously fun. like the writers were kind of clearly told they could do whatever they wanted and boy did they have fun

like the entire majima gets bitten subplot. I would have been insanely happy to have shot him out back like a dog like it wouldve made my entire life and so having him not actually have gotten bitten is on paper kind of a really lame conclusion to this. however the way it was executed was so infinitely beyond hysterically funny that i cant even be mad. because it made me laugh so hard.

this game additionally did what i previously thought was entirely impossible and made ryuji. Marginally likeable. mostly just his entire pivot from hardened gangster to takoyaki chef is truly. dude its so funny. its so infinitely funny and its so perfect and i hope sayama stops by his cart sometimes. im honestly choosing to believe that he survived the events of y2 and did exactly this except hes just out somewhere else in japan so kiryu just never ran into him. If rgg can resurrect every single other character under the sun apparently i dont really see how this is truly that unbelievable

Overall my opinion on this game is kind of at war with itself because on one hand. absolutely diabolical gameplay situation going on. truly abominable. obviously part of this is due to the fact that i was using an emulator on a computer that was not designed for gaming but apparently it ran like garbage on the original ps3 as well. additionally ive never played a shooter before so this may be contributing to my struggles but also i lowkey feel like even despite that its kind of Well not designed all that spectacularly. but also the plot is so stupid fun and some of the character interactions and bits were just so tremendously good in a way that i feel like we dont get a lot of in earlier entries in the series that i really quite enjoyed it. When i wasnt fighting with the game just to be able to play LOL

Ngl I don't know how to feel about winds of anthos. I have so many thoughts about the game after finishing the main story line (dont have the kid yet but it's incubating).

I've seen a lot of praise for the game and I get it, I really liked the game in the beginning too, could hardly put it down, but after finishing the main story it's kinda lacking (which makes sense, I mean I finished the game, it's gonna be out of content at some point). But after a few days of reflection on the game I've decided it's just not that great? Am I missing something?

Like, I get it, I like the open world exploration, I felt so claustrophobic in pioneers of olive town and even the wonderful life remake, but once you've seen it all that's it, the land is barren too which makes it feels so boring and it's not interesting to look at either. One thing that pissed me off a lot was the fucking mountains that are so hard to navigate, but I think that's really just a me problem.

Then there are the characters and honestly o can't even tell them apart at this point, they are all (most of them) default nice with no personality, especially the bachelorettes, I always feel like fictional women lack personality in general. The only character (apart from doc) who stood out was Nickolai and only because he's autistic (blunt and not very nice). And don't get me started on the design, Arnold with the "one two buckle my shoe" and Ella looking like a pokemon trainer when she's supposed to be an artist from a swiss inspired town from what I can tell. She just doesn't look like she belongs in the town and I don't know if it's further explain through her flower events but she doesn't seem to hate living here or hate the town so I don't understand why she has to stand out so much.

Speaking of flower events, those were boring as well. I can hardly remember what even happened in them, all I remember was being a little disappointed when I realized all the 6 music notes events (the one after you start dating) are all the same, you go to a secluded location, look over the town and chat. That's it, for all of the 3 guys I started dating (again, I don't know if it's different with the other marriage candidates but I doubt it).

I felt like the pace was off too, I don't know when you're supposed to finish the main story line, I finished in winter of the first year I think, it was very early on and I only played for 30ish hours and finished the game. I found the tasks so tedious I wanted to get them over with asap, I was so done with the characters being like "thanks for getting us this ore, now onto your next mission, get this other ore, kay, thanks, byeee" maybe because the main quest was under the request tab with all the other requests but it didn't feel special enough. I also hated having to sift through this long list of requests that never seemed to get shorter since every morning, there would be mail of some villager needing something. It was just so annoying, I just wanted to clear my requests once and start anew but the game really didnt want me to I guess.

As I was saying earlier, I finished the game in winter of year one (or spring year two I don't remember). Great, now what? I'm still not married because I couldn't advance my relationship with Westley until I fixed the harvest goddess spring, so I worked on that (and Nickolai and Arnold). I saw what I needed for the house upgrade and did that, yay bigger house. Checked the guide (God bless FOGU) to see why I didn't have a double bed/two beds and I need another upgrade??? That's 250,000 gold not counting the pain of getting high quality lumber boards and square, having to resort to buying them with added another (approximately) 60,000. I grinded by fishing and finally got married in summer. I have to wait a season to realize I'm pregnant. I have to wait another season to give birth. Then, another season for the bitch to crawl and then, a season later, it's able to walk and even talk. Right now, I have to wait for another year for the baby to start being useful to me (by which I mean it can talk and explore the farm). I'm already bored by having to maintain the farm, I wake up and water the cows or whatever, I usually go to bed at 8 or 9 am because I wanna get this over with at this point.

(I just realized you can't use your camera indoors, how will I take cute baby pics of the fucker? I wanted my whole camera roll full of blurry baby pics.)

Am I playing the game wrong? Why am I not enjoying the game the way others seem to enjoy it? It's tedious for me now, maybe I just need a break from farming.

I feel like you need to be a very specific person to fully enjoy this game, and it ain't me. I miss animal parade.

Pre-movie thoughts (written 10/25):

I get to see it a day early! YAY!

I might have hyped this movie up in my brain a little too much, because I'm SUPER anxious.

The polarizing reviews i was seeing throughout the day were definitely a little nerve wracking! Lots of good and bad reviews, lots of weird contridicting statements. I saw lots of people complaining about the lore being "wrong" or whatever but... Eh. It has already been established that this movie won't have the same lore as the games, so I won't mind any lore changes. They're like the Silver Eyes books, in their own seperate canon but with similarities to the games.

Overall Im keeping my hopes reasonably high. Horror films and video game adaptations tend to get a bad wrap from even the fairest critics. I'm a die-heard fnaf fan, have been for all 9 years of its existence. If Dawko loves it then I will love it I think 🫡

He and Abby were really sweet :) I like how their relationship drives the plot along, with how they befriend Abby but only as a front because they want her to "be like them," and how Mike is caught up in the past and realizes that he needs to focus on protecting Abby, not bringing his brother back. Its surprisingly emotional, i really resonated with their story. Josh Hutcherson and Piper Rubio both did well!

It's basically everything I expected, and I liked it! I think it's story was good, with its focus on childhood innocence.

Vanessa is great too! Different from her game counterpart, but thats okay! And the twist that she's actually William aftons daughter? Holy shit I gasped like I was watching a soap. Thats so interesting!! I loved how she just FELT suspicious. I know it's very different from the game lore, but I expected the movie to be, and I liked what they did! I got chills when Vanessa showed the picture of her and William to Mike and you could see her holding the plane that Mike's brother used to have.... my dad thought that was the creepiest part. Speaking of william btw...

Matthew Lillard, man. wow. What a great William Afton. They do some subtle implications that hes William in the beginning and if i didnt know it was him already i would've been surprised. He hams it up like he did with Stu Macher and it's great! I wish he was in it a little more, and they expanded a little more on Williams character through Vanessa, but yeah, he was good! I hope to see more of him in any sequels!

I wish the animatronics showed up a little more, thats probably my biggest critique or whatever. But they are so well made and cute. I liked how they befriended Abby, and that they rlly honed in on the animatronics being possessed by kids and that their violence is from William Aftons influence. I wish they went more into depth about how William influenced them though, and why it's all the pictures drawn of what happened that control their vision of what happened. What we did get from them though was so cool! Jim Henson did so well with these guys, they're so cute yet can be so scary.

The kills were pretty tame on the surface, as I expected, but some of the implications were quite disturbing to a point where it didn't rlly take away from it for me. Especially Max's, it gave me a "Ada in the laser room in the re4 seperate ways remake" vibes. Same with the security guards death to the faz-trap in the beginning.

There were some pacing issues, theyve definitely cut some things i wouldve liked to see, there was some goofiness (that fort making scene made me laugh so hard im sorry, it was cute though), and some story elements that needed a touch more expanding upon, but this movie was still really fun! For non-fans, honestly i dont know how they'reresponding as a whole besides those really weird reviews im seeing on rotten tomatoes and such, but I saw it with my dad, who knew very little going into it, and he liked it, especially the story with the missing kids! For fans... well, If you like fnaf, are are willing to forgive some lore changes for the sake of telling a coherent story, then you'll love it!

the whole sora kairi roxas xion namine ventus AND vanitas deal baffles me to this day. like even within kingdom hearts rules of how shit works some of it barely makes sense. mind you im not even getting into why x person looks like y person we just roll with the whole "influenced by y" thing. or the whole who is most connected to who. we roll with that too

but then whered ventus go? presumably stayed inside sora. but why didnt he also leave soras heart? because kh1 was a oneshot game with none of this planned is the real answer of course but that has never stopped nomura. and the answer cant be ven went to roxas' body otherwise we wouldnt have roxas with his own heart, we'd just have ven with amnesia...3! and then of course you also have the whole vanitas deal because they heavily imply in kh3 that vanitas is still inside sora at the end. ven and van stayed inside sora because they werent done healing. alright. but the whole heart unlocking thing did things in a very forceful manner, soras heart was forced right out...so why wouldnt theirs be. were ven and van inside the lil heartless ant sora? kh1 needs a remake badly

and THEN you have namine, by god, namine... nothing about her makes sense. shes not even a real nobody. kairis empty body was IN THE ROOM when her heart was freed. like the implication here is that as soon as a heart is free floating in the air outside a body, a nobody is spawned somewhere, even if the heart re-enters a body moments after. kairi and namine as another glass of milk case, or was also using soras body as a resource, making sora one third glass of milk. hm the whole half pint thing is starting to have relevance now...

yeah so hi i deliberately stayed up until 7am on a work night in order to watch this and do not regret a thing.

-> splat3 dlc looks cool!! will i play it? no. does it look cool as hell? yeah!!! I personally don't like splat3's actual single player campaign so unless im able to access the dlc without finishing the main campaign then... im not playing it lmao. it looks cool as fuck though!! i like whatever the hell they had going on with the glitchy taz hunger looking goop that produced skeleton fish. pearl + marina lore is also a win in my book -> i dont actually have all that many thoughts about the smrpg showcase but MAN it looks cool as hell. at first i didnt like the revamped graphics but now theyre growing on me.... plus the trio attacks??? bro ive been tweaking out for like three months now. i bought the ff7 remake bc it was 50% off a few months ago and I was like I'm never gonna find a deal like this ever again (only for it to go on 50% again lmfao) but ok whatever it was literally 35 for the game and the dlc which is one million times cheaper than what splatoon 2 and octo expansion were and its ok because i can never own it physical anyways but bro I didn't even want to buy this game in the first place i was gonna buy ffxv cause i saw a clip of notcis or whatever that guys name is putting his lettuce on a nother guy's plate and i was like "wtf is final fantasy even about" SPOILER ALERT: TERRORISM like ????

The Good:

Vivian is canonically trans in every language

There is a partner wheel so you dont have to pause constantly like its Ocarina of Time Boots syndrome

The shortcut pipes are now labeled and there are two mini shortcuts to the steeple and pirate cave.

The game looks prettier and there's extended/remastered music that FUCKS.

There is now an official reward for filling out the badge and tattle logs, although it's just a skin but its not like theres much to reward you with if you've thoroughly beaten the game like that. At least its acknowledged now.

You can interact with objects and characters while on yoshi, no need to mount and dismount every other second.

You can use Goombella's field ability even when she's not out but this lowkey sucks for reasons i'll get to later

The Bad: Quite literally everything else.

Firstly i wanna clear up there's a lot of false advertised "Quality of life". Fuck purism but literally all the "QoL" changes are just removing challenge from the game which Nintnedo loves to do with their remasters, looking at you Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition.

More inventory slots: So you can stack even more life shrooms basically. Quality of Life would have been letting us send itmes we find in the field directly to storage, which you still cannot do.

Restarting failed boss battles: The game is very good about save points and specifically has back-to-back boss battles meant to test your preparation that now dont work like that.

No penalty for fleeing fights: Self explanatory, the game has a badge that lets you skip fights you're overleveled for already.

"New Content" there are literally 2 new fights in the post game. 2. That's it. And they both require grinding out a bunch of fights that were already in the base game,. FFS one of them literally requires you to do the pit of 100 trials TWICE. That's padding and a half.

"Balance changes" are just nonsense. Its very Nintendo brand where the game is objectively easier but it makes it much harder for you to play the game how YOU want and not how Nintendo intends, case in point the frame perfect nerfs to things like Power Bounce and Multibonk.

"we'll put in a concept art gallery showing all the idea we didnt have time to implement in the original 2004 release but no way are we gonna put in any effort and actually finish our vision and add that as new content to justify the remake"

NOW FOR THE STRAIGHT UP ACTUAL DOWNGRADES.

The framerate is halved

You cannot mash through dialogue anymore

the game explicitly has longer intro and ending battle animations

HAVE YOU NOTICED A TREND OF SHAMELESS PADDING YET???

Theres a useless yet detailed tutorial NPC who follows you around. How about using that time on new REAL content instead jackoffs?

The big one: Unfortunately the chuds were lowkey right about "censorship" and blah blah. Aside from Vivian, who deserves the world like the not-evil shadow queen she is, there are SO many changes to the dialogue and unlike Vivian they are not for the better. Pretty much all the edges have been sanded off, and I don't mean they removed offensive jokes I mean they've even done some truly petty shit that makes the story objectively worse. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was finding out they retconned the Shadow Queen's hidden lore to remove any possible nuance to her motivations. That's just one of a TON of examples of the dialogue having all its personality sucked out.

So have fun freely seeing all Goombella's sassy dialogue now that a good chunk of sass has been removed!

Also remember those improvements to Yoshi? Well his ability still sucks because now it has a windup rather than being an actually effective mobility tool because again this shit is padded as hell.

this is in no way a comprehensive list of either positive or negative changes but it should be enough to make clear I sure as shit know where I stand on whether or not this garbage is more worth it than just using the HD texture pack on dolphin.
