I don't have time to explain this as much as I would like to right now, but the trend of short vertical videos showing a cool/interesting thing and then a narrator explaining EVERY action has me worried about media literacy and critical thinking, all that kind of stuff. specifically, when they tell you things that you 1. can easily see or 2. you should be able to make the assumption based on the given information.

I'm talking videos that show someone doing a nice action for a stranger, and then the narrator says "after that, she even helped carry the old man's groceries" as the same actions are shown on screen. and again in the same fairly monotone, corporate-y cadence, "this is truly a sweet moment." as if you needed to be told that.

and it's different from a regular person saying "aww, isn't it so sweet?" because there's hardly any emotion. are these videos made by AI? I wouldn't be surprised. or maybe they're just formulaic slop churned out by big channels, I don't know, maybe both.

My main question is whether these became a thing for people who can't see well/at all so that they could understand what's happening, or if it was because their target demographic is younger kids (especially on youtube shorts). if anyone knows, or if anyone likes these videos because they can't see it themselves, I'd love to hear your opinion. obviously if they're helpful with that, they're worth learning from, at least for that aspect.

but it feels so much like people need to be explicitly handed stories in order to feel like they understand them, when making inferences is so important. it's crucial to people developing social skills and thinking, and I'd guess the kids watching youtube shorts all day are getting less of that as it is.

obviously I'm not saying that this is gonna ruin adults' brains and make them incapable or something, but I am thinking about my little brother who watches these kinds of videos all the time. ones where he can turn his brain off while someone spoon feeds him which reaction he "should" be having.

synopsis: when you finally make your debut back in the world of formula racing, max and charles come to terms with how much they loved you, leading to you finally confessing.

author's note: okay so after some practice, i am now comfortable enough that i can write well enough for a driver!reader. for purposes, cadillac will already be a team and reader will be american AND LOGAN IS HIS TEAMMATE BC I SAY SO (miss my american sm😔) EVEN IF IT IS ONLY BRIEFLY MENTIONED. anyways, feel free to request, read the guidelines first ofc! (also apologies for the lack of dialogue in this one. i kinda forgot how to write good dialogue and kinda just let things flow! felt right for the vibes to me idk)

formula one, a true dream come true for you. you had raced in earlier formula series, alongside the likes of now four time world champion, max verstappen, and ferrari golden boy, charles leclerc. you hadn't seen them in a few tears as you had been busy racing in nascar, dominating the tracks at almost every track. you missed them, more than you would ever admit.

when you first heard that cadillac would be joining formula one as a brand new team, you felt sparks of hope erupt deep in your chest. maybe, just maybe, you would finally get the chance to race against your once competitors (and the two men who were your first real crushes).

you hadn't expected to be approached by your manager with a multi-year deal with the american team. without a second thought, you signed immediately, ecstatic that you could prove yourself to those you grew up racing, not including your all-time hero, fernando alonso. you couldn't keep in your excitement, which was clear to everyone in your immediate circle, including your new teammate and mentee (who in reality is a year younger than you), logan sargeant.

when it was revealed you were to be racing for the newest addition to the paddock, max and charles had almost the same reaction: joyful nervousness. they realized all to late the feelings they harbored for you.

but now... now you're back. it was exciting and terrifying for the two men, who have grown accustomed to only really seeing each other and never acknowledging those feelings.

to say that you were all big fat chickens was an understatement.

the first time you reappeared in the busy paddock, charles felt his heart jump to his throat while max just felt frozen. in ways, they each thought you looked better, less stressed and more mature. you seemed genuinely happy, especially in what they always called your natural habitat. you were a social able person after all.

they struck up small conversations during the driver's parade, mainly catching up and swapping jokes. it reminded you three of the old times, even if max and charles back then had some sort of beef. it made you feel even happier and more excited to be back and racing in the formula series.

it took a good few races before the three of you finally shared a podium. you would have never expected to feel more excited about p2 then now. in the cool down room, you chatted heartedly with max, awaiting for the winner to finally arrive. once the three of you were together, it was nothing but subtle flirting and chatter until it was time to go to the podium. even there (save for during monaco's national anthem as well as the italian one ringing) the three would not shut up.

it wasn't until the after party at the club where the three of you drank half of your body weight, confessing with no shame to each other. you couldn't remember the night, having had way too much to drink after celebrating your first podium of the season.

when you awoke the morning, you were in an unfamiliar hotel room, a warm weight behind you. you groan awake, blinking as the morning sun shone bright through the curtains, bathing yourself, max verstappen, and charles leclerc in a beautiful golden li-

wait, max and charles? you sobered up real quick and scrambled out of bed, falling with a loud thud in the process. you curse yourself, trying to grab whatever shirt was closest and pulling it on.

charles was the next one awake, stirring on the farthest side of the bed where he had curled around max. he blinked those beautiful eyes awake, a soft smile gracing your lips before you snapped out of it.

this couldn't be happening. you were half panicked, half happy to have woken up with the two men you had secretly loved for years but never, in a million lifetimes, would have ever thought were anything but into you. charles rubbed the sleep from his eyes, not yet having caught on what was happening. you stood there dumbly, still as a statue as you both finally made eye contact.

you chuckled awkwardly and charles let out a surprised yelp, loud enough to startle the last man asleep awake. you stared at each other for a good, long, ten seconds before max broke the silence with a cough before he sat up, as if all this was casual. it was very on brand for the dutchman.

it was quiet again, charles blinking blankly while you scrambled to collect your belongings. max stops you, sits you back down on the bed, and tries to calm you and charles down. and for some reason, it was too easy for him to.

he was gentle and sweet, carefully explaining what was going (or at least what he thought) before he finally comes clean, opening up about his feelings. after that, it was easy for you and charles to do the same, just in a slightly less organized and calm manner. it was no longer awkward but sweet and caring, soothing each nerve in the three bodies to a nice, warm hum.

you offered to make breakfast while max and charles cleaned up. from then on, it had become routine. from the hotel stays in different countries, to moving into the same apartment in monaco now overrun with pets. it was healthy and well established, the three of you keeping things strictly business at work but at home, leaving raving behind for a nice night in with the lobes of your life.

You may be wondering, what is the carrer/profession of all the other Naruto characters in this AU? Let's figure it out...

SASUKE: Rock punk star turned model. Ambassador of Orochimaru’s fashion estate.

KAKASHI: Lawyer turned actor. GETS PAID BANDS FOR 3 MINUTES CAMEOS. Most of his money comes from advertisements, collaborations, and sponsorship deals.

GAI: Fitness influencer, celebrity trainer, and part-time actor. Older than what he pretends to be, it feels like he hasn't changed physically since the '80s or something.

NEJI: Producer & label owner. Regarding his downfall, his fate was sealed when he revealed that his cousin Hinata was actively cheating on her husband Shino Aburame (who likes her a lot), and how he felt bad for him. He said the rapper TONERI (she's cheating with) is a straight weirdo and is doing witchcraft for people to like is trash ass music. Nobody listened and just laughed when Neji claimed her cousin had a kid from this bum and aborted it. Only Tsunade (she's messy ofc) was open-minded to his words, but Neji didn’t knew how this interview with her would seal his fate. Hiashi planned his demise immediately after (passed away 3 years after).

She had a cooking show where she cooks with different guests (Cooking Venture with Hinata Hyuuga), and Toneri was in one of them.

NO MATTER HIS DEMISE, Neji always had the reputation of being a loving CEO/manager/producer with his artists, while being high standard and demanding the best of them. During the "decline of his mental health," his work remained irreproachable and of high quality. At his worst, he was crashing out on social media by night and releasing bangers by day.

TENTEN: cheerleader for the red leaves of konoha.

LEE: Olympic gymnast.

KURENAI: Professional Opera singer.

HINATA: Nepo baby/JAPANESE MARTHA STEWART/Marie Kondo.

KIBA: Basketball player (Red Leaves of Konoha). His mother Tsume Inuzuka is the president of the female division of the Konoha Police. Regardless of the assumptions, the Inuzuka clan is a well-established family, especially for the advanced canine training and tracking techniques they provide to various entities, companies, and governments.

SHIKAMARU: Ran NASCAR at some point. He retired from the sport early despite being quite good, for being "bothersome". INO:  Alex Earl, social media twin. She likes the fact that most people underestimate her abilities because of her influencer's background, but she is a tuned-up negotiator and goal-oriented businesswoman to the point of perfectly maintaining the music label she co-managed with Neji after his passing

ASUMA: basketball coach

GAARA: greenhouse owner/large-scale gardener. Has programs for the youth and employment opportunities by teaching the art of agriculture. YES, HE IS OF WEALTHIER BACKGROUND WITH HIS SIBLINGS, BUT PREFERS TO STAY OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT. His agricultural projects are turning many desertic regions into green paradises with great success.

TEMARI Businesswomen who have an assistant following her around with a notepad with her very busy schedule. BOSS AND CEO. Owns a makeup brand.

ITACH: actor, also an official cast member in Killer Bee's variety shows. His debut episode (along with Neji as a guest) has to be the most-watched episode of all time.

OBITO: an illusionist magician. He has facial scars because of a burn accident that happened outside of his work. His most renowned trick is the ability to make himself or objects disappear and make them reappear out of nowhere. Nobody can decipher the secret of his tricks and he his often employed by very rich clients to entertain them.

IZUNA:  nepo baby living off his brother's money. SOFT LIFE and free to live the promiscuous life he desires. gets away with trifling behaviour because NEPOTISM. Madara is running the pr machine full force because he is incapable of telling his younger brother no. The older Uchiha is even funding many of Izuna's dubious ventures. Madara would say it's a luxurious life and the libertine’s way. While Tobirama would say it's escorting with a Louis Vuitton bag.

Can’t keep my eyes off you

Note: You didn’t specify a reader gender (I write male and gender neutral readers) so I made it gender neutral but I can change it on request

In all honesty, Logan had never been a fan of all the fancy events he had to go to. He understood what it meant for him and for the team of course, but that didn’t mean they were his cup of tea.

Luckily for him, Alex was there too, and he knew that meant they could spend the entire evening chatting and waiting for the event to come to an end.

They weren’t the only Formula 1 drivers there; and frankly, apart for Lewis, most of them wanted to leave as well.

And so Logan stuck to his group, the people he saw every week, because it was better then socializing.

As they talked in their corner, drinks in hand, Logan fidgeted around; his suit was too uncomfortable, it was too warm in the crowded room, his dress shoes were squishing his feet.

A late arrival had everyone turning their heads: it was a very good-looking person, one that Logan didn’t recognize, but captured his attention nonetheless.

His fidgeting stopped; he went completely still, jaw slack and eyes wide, as he observed the newcomer.

"Who is that?" he was whispered to Alex, in hopes of getting some information about the stranger.

"Oh them? That’s Y/N L/N, they’re a super famous actor, I can’t believe you don’t know who they are."

So that was your name and job down. But what else could he learn about you? He had already been scolded by his team principal for using his phone too much during events, so that was ruled out.

He settled for the closest thing he could find to Wikipedia: his friends.

"What do you know about that person? Y/N L/N?" he asked the entire group.

They started blurting out random things, from your nationality to the name of your pet, and put together the information was actually quite a bit. Impressive for who he was asking.

But there was one question Logan still wanted to ask.

"And are they, by any chance, into men?" His mumbled question still managed to get picked up by his group, luckily, because he didn’t think he could say it again.

"Yes don’t worry" said Charles, the only one to have met him before "And they’re single too" the monegasque added, winking at Logan.

A slight blush spread on the American’s cheeks at being teased; and yet he couldn’t help but think about the actor, even as the conversation switched subjects.

He couldn’t stop his eyes from wandering across the room, to where you were stood, looking perfect, greeting those who came and talked to you.

Logan wondered if there was a chance he would be one of those people, to confidently walk up to you and just start a conversation.

But that wasn’t really him, was it? As much as he liked to exhibit a confident personality in interviews and such he couldn’t flirt for the life of him.

And so Logan settled for observation from afar, at least for a little bit.

He listened to what his friends were saying distractedly, half listening and the other half of his mind consumed by the stranger.

It was so unlike him, to see someone for the first time and completely fixate on them, and yet he just couldn’t help it.

Even when he tore his gaze from you it always wandered back, like a magnet. He kept thinking about what it would be like to talk to you, to actually be close, and in that moment there was nothing Logan wanted more.

He had completely spaced out, staring at you from across the room, until Max brought him back into the conversation with a "What do you think Logan?" that he honestly couldn’t respond to.

His friends laughed, finding his cluelessness funny, while filling him in on what he had missed. While he actually listened this time, Charles moved closer to Logan and whispered in his ear "Shoot your shot. Just trust me."

He couldn’t say it wasn’t helpful, given Charles was the only one to have met you before, and yet that just wasn’t enough to convince him to do it.

He turned away from their little side conversation to join back into the groups, shooting you a glance while he could.

Each time he saw your smiling face he thought about how inviting and nice you looked and how easy it would be for him to actually talk to you, and yet he still chickened out.

It was nearly two hours later now and Logan hadn’t stopped thinking about the actor for a second.

He was afraid of the evening coming to an end without him having talked to you, and it filled him with dread.

He went down the rabbit hole in his mind: What if he never did talk to you? He didn’t think he would be able to bring himself to stop thinking about you, and knew he would regret not speaking to you if he didn’t. And yet he remained afraid.

That was until Logan looked over to where he had seen you last and didn’t find you there. He looked around the large event venue, unable to find you, getting worried you had left already and he had missed his chance.

He was beginning to spiral, until he felt someone’s arm brushing against his own; no wait, someone was hugging Charles from behind. Logan didn’t think much of it until he realized it was your arm against his, and he began to blush madly.

You hadn’t seen Charles in a while, and you couldn’t wait to talk to him again, but people kept getting in your way, asking about you and telling you their opinions about their latest movies. And frankly, you wanted to check out the cute blonde boy standing next to your monegasque friend.

Logan watched you pull away from Charles, who messed with your hair playfully the moment he realized it was you.

You slotted yourself in between Charles and Logan as Charles introduced you to everyone, and Logan could feel his heart beating faster.

You started chatting with the whole group, getting to know the friends Charles had promised to introduce you to long ago.

Logan stayed quiet, admiring your beauty, and wondering if it was appropriate to pull you aside to talk privately.

Ultimately he decided it couldn’t be that bad, and when the conversation took a turn and you stayed quiet he pulled you aside, not far, just enough for a little bit of privacy.

You weren’t entirely sure what was happening, but followed suit as Logan pulled you a couple meters away from the other drivers.

"Hi! I’m Logan, we didn’t get to talk much." yep, that was a good opening line.

As Logan started his conversation he couldn’t help but fall further in love with you, entranced by your voice and personality.

Eventually he told himself he had to do it and, during the conversation, he blurted out "Do you want to go out with me?"

He wasn’t very happy with how he had done it, but knew the nerves had just taken over. He hoped it hadn’t put you off.

"I would love to" you said, smiling gently at him. He realized that wasn’t your fake smile, the one you were giving those that greeted you earlier; he felt special: he had caused your genuine smile, and he was the one that got to see it.

Little did you both know his entire group had been listening, and began to cheer as you both exchanged numbers and promised to keep in contact, right as the event came to an end.

You walked outside with Logan, Charles and their friends, Logan still smiling as he talked to you.

As you stepped in your own car, and they went to theirs individually, you said goodbye, and Logan watched you until the very moment he couldn’t anymore, excited at the prospect of your future date.

He was glad he had been unable to keep his eyes off of you.

Life with Turbo on the Internet (x reader head canons)

A/N: First ever fanfic(if this counts???) I tried to keep it in character lmk how I did.... lots of "probably"s in this one. I'm very unsure.

Genre: (Wreck it ralph) Turbo x reader headcannons, fluff and shenanigans! (Hehe that rhymed!)

Summery: He totally lived guys. He survived and escaped to the Internet guys. He's alive and well and living in a shitty website i promise guys (hcs of what I think living on the internet with post-movie turbo/kc would be like) based on this post I made.

You guys live in a website Turbo made with his trial-and-error-achieved coding skills… so its kinda shitty and cluttered. But its cosy and its yours so its fine. It'll probably improve the more Turbo improves his skills, anyhow.

As you'd assume, you'll be spending alot of time on racing related websites and games. He probably got himself banned from a couple games either by messing with the code to make himself better or for harassing players. He'll to try to bypass the bans and sometimes he succeeds! And gets you both banned again because he said a swear word in a kids game.

Of course he will go with you to places pertaining to your interests, whatever that may be. He might be less enthusiastic about it than his precious car games but he'll still go with you because he likes hanging out with you❤ he almost gets you banned again though

Lots of marathoning various games and movies/shows. Someone on tumblr said that he probably watches car crash compilations and like. Yeah. He'd binge watch the shit out of car crash videos and nascar fails. (I hc that he would enjoy Its Always Sunny but for the wrong reason.)

Lay next to him in a bundle of blankets and pillows use him as a pillow he is warm and squishy and soft and touch starved eating snacks and watching "8 most disturbing things caught on dashcam footage" on YouTube. He's probably the type to talk during movies and videos, there are so meny opinions in his little body and he will not shut up. Though is a bit more quiet when sleepy.

Turbo messed with the computer avatar... things idk what they are called. Trips em up, makes peoples websites crash, etc. Until one of the ad blockers punch him. Then he stopped.

You guys are probably on familiar terms with Knowsmore. Probably one of the first people you and Turbo spoke to when you first entered the Internet, and still speak to since he helps you to get around. Turbo probably would find him annoying, though.

Same with Spamley. Turbo probably hangs around the darknet because of course he would... He probably would try the "Make money playing video games" spiel, success varies. Spamley, despite being a boyfailure, still knows his way around the darknet (barely like he did make that virus guy throw him across the room) Would also find spamley annoying but maybe less so.

Speaking of the darknet, he would bring you along whenever he'd go. he'd hold your hand or arm to make sure he doesn't lose you. Of course he does a myriad of illicit activities. Learning more about programming and hacking, plotting revenge, probably released a couple viruses in websites thatve wronged him, and- 🤢 and🤢 film piracy 🤮 /j

Idk if he'd try to take over another game or if he'd try to find fame another way... I'm still mulling over it tbh.

1.) favorite is a DIABOLICAL question. it's like pickin a favorite child. aough. ok. yall. lock in for like a million pictures. the boss 302 mustang, originally manufactured between 69 n 70 was one of the muscle cars on the later end of the spectrum. she was sleek n POWERFUL n easy to mod n had a nice lil v8 engine in her. she was actually designed for trans-am racin! a lot of muscle cars from the time that were built almost solely to participate in racin (specifically nascar) n also just HAPPENED to double as civilian cars too!!

my PERSONAL baby has gotta be the 1966 shelby cobra. Jesus christ almighty. she was sleek . she was tuff. she had a unique design that most muscle cars of the time were. well. look I love em. but they were kinda lackin. in 1966 she took the title of fastest factory car from the Pontiac of two years runnin. ALSO. look at these funky ass colors they came in. absolutely adore her. NO notes.

ofc I feel like I gotta throw in the stingray corvette if for no other reason them. well look at her. she was a stunner n a cruiser. (I mean you COULD drag her but. she was outpaced by the shelby n the Pontiac of her year.) also another popular example of the shift to fiberglass bodies that was introduced in. 1964? I have an intense dislike for new cars. part of it is cause car companies stopped havin fuckin FUN!!! the engine craze of the early 60s!!! where a shit ton of companies were just. so invested in nascar for no fuckin reason!! THEY WERE WILLIN TO TAKE RISKS!! THEY WERENT AFRAID TO GET WACKY WITH IT!! I didn't even MENTION it but like jesus christ some of my favorite cars from the time we're the FREAKS!! the BEETLE BUGS!!! the VOLKS VANS!!! sighhhh. OC introductory oneshot

eli is also responsible for this nebulously connected to the WK-verse oneshot ive been struggling with, and he doesnt even know it. basically, he suggested making an oc to play around with, and ive slowly been coming up with one. (she is still Unnamed lol) but she is a bit of a gag character, and not really involved with the Tortuga crew. I just really love an outsider pov, it amuses me, and i think someone tangentially involved makes for a lot of humorous moments. (think the "my cabbages!" guy from A:TLA) but basically she is a former NASCAR racer who got injured, badly, her very first season, and suffered permanent hearing loss in one ear, and partial in the other. she is now a getaway driver, and she is cringe. she's cocky and a schemer, but she's also an absolute fool. it took her a while to get behind the wheel again, and she still struggles. and somehow she chose working as a getaway driver for various WK villains as an optimal career path. everytime she leaves her car unattended, she comes back to it totaled. like Kevin from Ben 10 lmaoo

Like- there are a 100 years of war going on all this time before aang showed up, so I wanna set that BEFORE the avatar was discovered you know? I want to give them their own plot some time in these 100 years. We're like 50 years into the war so aang won't be a thing. Well. he was a thing. But no one knows where he is lol. But that was like it as far as I thought mostly cause mostly it was just the vibes that were coming to mind yk? Smth smth being a kid and growing up believing war is normal and growing up a little more and relaxing it’s not- wanting to FIX things but. God, you’re a kid and your friends are kids and you’re making a difference but you’re up against a whole nation

And like. Idk it’s just the tragedy of having your whole life shaped by this terrible thing. And it really could be your whole life bc you’re not safe! You’re at war! And you’ve decided to go out and fight for the right side, the losing side, and you’ll probably die young anyways

And if not. God it’s gonna be another 50 years till aang is found in the ice berg. But they don’t know that, all they know is the avatar is gone. And hope and optimism slowly takes a backseat bc he’s not here, you gotta save yourselves

aviva and zach will parallel some sort of elementary + middle school friends type of thing where in HS they go to separate schools. both zach and aviva are in fire nation but aviva is from a colony and zach is an actual fire nation kid. both are non benders, or possibly zach is a weak firebender, who uses his flames for like, the forge or smth idk. Maybe he cant bend at all. Its still something I'm figuring out. the two meet as they always do, first rivals then weird friends.

when they're both around 16/17-ish aviva meets some other earth nation ppl and they fill her in on what's going on outside. she decides to leave. Zach obviously calls her a fucking idiot cuz wtf aviva you're gonna die out there. and aviva is like nah man trust me they said they have leads on the Avatar so if we bring him back then it might actually end the war. zach is obviously hella sus about this but he can't convince avuva out of it so he resigns and tells aviva to be careful. The next time they meet it likely wont be as friends

there's more to the au ofc, but i was thinking of maybe doing a series of connected oneshots set in this verse for them and to explore the other characters as well.

the labyrinth au

every fandom i am in will at some point have an labyrinth au lol.

but. zach’s dad as the goblin king, zach as a half mortal half fae? like i know the goblin king himself was a fae that rules over the goblins so, i’m thinking he’s part of the unseelie court? of more malicious fae. so, that, for zach’s dad, and his mother is either a nature spirit, or a fae in another court. and zach is making multiple attempts at getting OUT of his dads labyrinth.

and meanwhile. meanwhile CHRIS is in the labyrinth trying to get to MARTIN who is, idk, for some reason in the center of the labyrinth? so i know the brothers would never wish each other away and that’s for kids anyways. but. i’m thinking. smth is up, a festival of sorts for the spn creatures villain seminars or smth.

and so its either martin who there? for some reason? and chris is trying to get to him, OR its a Wild Kratt Kid, im undecided

Chris is trying to rescue whoever it is, with aviva as a guide bc aviva HAS braved the labrynth before when she was a child

(she was trying to save zach. who she met at science camp. idk i’m still figuring out how the modern aspect is incorporated here? i’m thinking it’s mostly compliant? like the supernatural exist and are known to some but a lot of them are like, hidden in plain sight? not everyone knows)

aviva thought zach was wished away to the labrynth and under threat of being turned to a goblin she wasn’t aware that, yk, the labrynth is his HOME (prison, whatever you wanna call it)

so it’s like—zach trying to get out and his attempts bring him to aviva and chris who are trying to get IN. as a kid and throughout his teen years, zach WAS able to go to the mortal world, hence the science camp, neighbors-ish with the kratts, etc

i’m thinking that, the varmitechs do have a business in the mortal realm too, which is why he lives there, but they also have business in the fae realm? so like, ima have to work that out later

still, i plan on writing this as a one shot, (though its gotten rather long ill be honest) with it going back and forth between zach's many failed runs, (the past) and his current run (which is where he bumps into chris and aviva)

there is also another supernatural creature type au, where zach's father is a vampire and zach thinks he is one too (albeit one allergic to blood) but actually, zach is a nature spirit like his mother, and he doesnt even know it. ohhh the delicious irony of it all. unfortunately i cant find the doc with my notes lol so i didn't get to include that but maybe one day i'll find it!

Lityerses would probably like Nascar. It doesn’t help that The Waystation is in Indianapolis. They live so close to the Indie 500 Track it is amazing. I also think Leo got him interested in it. Lit probably liked chariot races back in Ancient Greece (he was the son of a King, I know for a fact he would have gone to the races) and he probably told Leo about it and Leo’s like: “yeah but wouldn’t it be cooler if there weren’t horses and the chariots could go about 200 miles per hour.” And Lits like yeah ofc and Leo’s like: “let me tell you about this little thing called Nascar”

NASCAR AU vroom vroom

Luffy is a poor kid who was born and survives on the street, taken care of by the general vagrant/drifter community until he met Ace, who preatty much raised him. Though life on the street is tough for Ace, especially when he gets sick.

Luffy would always race for fun, but after Ace got sick and they needed hospital money and proof of residence, he tried working but wasnt a good fit at any job, so he went back to racing. Anything to earn money, no matter how dangerous it seems, Luffy knows he can take it, plus the thrill of it. He becomes the fastest up and coming racer in the street racing daredevil scene. With his little beaten up car that he and his friend built, always getting patched up between and during races, he keeps winning.

Law, born with a silver spoon as the son of two doctors who wroked from home. Two loving parents, a little sister and the high expectations of being the eldest son of a religious and prestigious family. As a kid he got into some trouble and earned connections on the street, being one of the drifters until responsibility called him back. He is familiar with the scene. He is even more familiar with the official multidollar industry that is Formula One.

He was fascinated when he saw his first race, and decided to get into it. Using his families name and his education as a doctor to become a race medic, where he gets to both race, help people, and uphold his families image. Something he has failed to do until then.

Still despite getting the thrill of racing from the structured racing sport, he sometimes goes back to watch street races, where there are almost no rules. Its a different kind of thrill, one that he craves. It's freedom that he only brushes against when he races.

On one such outing, he brings a few friends, a mong them a scout that goes to these street races that seeks out new talent. They are hanging out, not paying attention as the night has been more relaxed then usual for the kind of parties street races organize. There have been cops cracking down on them, so its been hush hush

Until Luffy enters the race, his car is loud and angry, making his presence known. It stands out among the slick rich kids cars who dont care if they get wrecked.

It catches Law's and the scouts attention immediately. They laugh and trade some bets. Something tells Law that Luffy will win. His smile is full of confidence, not even a slither of dpubt unlike his opponent. So he makes a bet for Luffy winning, the scout laughs. 'Okay, if he wins, ill sponsor him to be next champion'

Law doesn't hesitate, putting down a large amount of money and racing memorabilia that he happens to collect as stakes.

Luffy ofc wins, and gets scouted into official circles, with Law supporting him from the shadows. Curious at how far the younger man is going to go.

Luffy is not an idiot, he knows someone is funding his endeavors but he doesnt know who, and that kinda pisses him off. He doesn't like secret handouts all that much. If someone gives him something, he has to give back. Luffy with no subtlety whatsover running around trying to figure it out. This breaks his concentration from the next race.

There is a crash as these things happen in races. Luffy has been in plenty that he steers his car in a way that doesn't get him hurt much

Law who is not even on call at the time, jumps into a car, there in less then 20 seconds, he has the fastest response among the medics. Only to find that Luffy is fine except for a cut over his eye, still he fusses.

And thats when Luffy realizes that Law is the one who helped him out in getting here. He wastes no time asking for a date while he is being bandaged. Law rolls his eyes and says that Luffy has a concussion.

Luffy says 'Nuh-uh' and tells with a straight face that he always thought Law was cute, but that he would run away anytime Luffy tried to talk to him. Which is dumb.

Law doesn't deny it.

They eventually go on the date, and well the rest is history.

There is some angst and drama with enemies from Luffy's and Law's past situations, family drama with Law's parents, and with Ace but they figure it out and handle it. Getting closer and falling in love as Luffy climbs to be a champion racer with Law by his side xd

Nascar/racer au update

Wash was definitely a rebellious teenager, (he fucking almost blinded someone in middle school ffs)

So Wash, rebellious teenager starts illegally racing (lol he's 15 years old) this is how he meets the Freelancers, York is a 17 year old mechanic, he meets wash through connie, they form basically a team and Wash gets really close to all of them because he learns really easy, but being illegal racers ofc they would do othe illegal stuff, he meets felix and locus and everything starts going downhill on there

that's when smt traumatising happens, the group is starting to get torn apart, ash thinks it's all his fault

then he meets the Reds and Blues, they suggest he start racing legally so he could earn money and help everyone (york needs money for the bills for his eye, Maine needs surgery for his throat)

at the story of the fanfic he's 15 turning 16, by the end he's about........ maybe in his 20's?

the timeline of the au basically

• Wash wasn't physically abused as a child, more emotional and verbal abuse, one parent verbally abused him all the time and the other basically ignored his existence or were really dry with him, this leads to his rebelliousness and meets connie who is the one that introduces him to the freelancers

• His relationship with the Freelancers started off rocky as he was cautious around them, but York was the one that helped show him that he could trust them (even if they were sort of a bad influence)

• Wash was friends with felix and locus at the start but turns out it was all a big trick to sabotage his group aka the Freelancers, this is what causes the group to start splitting apart

• Wash wasn't planning on racing ever again but he meets the Reds and Blues, Tucker is the one that tells him that he should race again but legally, he tries it and wins, using that money to pay off York's medical bills for his eye, bc of this he considers racing even more

• The reason why he chose the name Loki for his racer name is bc he felt that the names "David", "Wash" and "Washington" were for personal use/only for friends and family, he was debating using the name Washington for his racer name but chose Loki as his cat refused to die no matter what, and he never wants to lose no matter what

• Around the time he's able to join big races, everyone is praising him because he's one of the youngest drivers, ONE of them, the others- fucking felix and locus, felix HATES wash bc Wash is rhe only person to have ever beaten him other then Locus, and seeing Wash win all these trophies pissed him off

additional little shit

• Wash used to think highly of the Freelancers and he still kinda does, but he understands now that they weren't a good influence on him but he still wants to help them even if everyone is out and about/separated, he made sure to announce in an interview that the reason why he's racing is because he wants to be able to support his family and friends (lol south would have definitely pretend to not care about Wash but go to the races so she could "be there for north/it's nice to be with the whole group again")

• YORKLINA!!!!! York's a mechanic and Carolina was an illegal racer, she personally trained Wash and helped him improve, since nascar teams need more then one driver, she ends up joining "Bloodgulch" and become the second driver

• Imagining during ine chapter Wash almost fcking gets assassinated as he's getting too good, he ends up showing up on SOUTHS door step bc after the incident his and her relationship went downhill fast, which in that moment south realises that it wasn't his fault at all as he wasn't even an adult yet, so obviously she helps him

• During the championship wash does a move no one else has done, aka the car flying in the air bc I really like the image of Felix driving while looking up like "whAT-" meanwhile Locus would probably be staring up at him in shock and amazement (Felix would get even more pissed about this and probably try to run wash off the road, while locus would admire washs skill and continue the race not to win but to have fun alongside wash)
