yessss nd games are so good!!! and they hold up! I have a vivid childhood memory of daydreaming in class and then suddenly realizing how to beat the ending of message in a haunted mansion, racing home and begging my mom to let me play a computer game even though it was a school night. most random thing about the nd games community was the huuuge amount of evangelical girls that were so into them, i guess because they had no violence/swearing/nudity etc? but the her interactive message boards were a hot mess when any new games with paranormal/witchcraft elements were announced bc those girls were NOT HAVING IT!!! In fifth grade we did a project where each class tried to get a postcard from all fifty states. I wrote a letter to her interactive bc it said online they were in chicago. I wrote like a two page thing with an idea for a mystery about a chef?? fksfkjhhskf idk. I never got anything back and was bummed but months later I got a hand written postcard all the way from canada where they apparently were at that point. so that was really sweet ;____; ok sorry just GOING OFF but always happy when sims 2 fandom crosses over with other early 00's games.

edit: wait scratch no violence...can't forget the ICONIC ending to the original secrets can kill that was on two disks. Where at the end the culprit is a random guy you've never seen who's robbing a pharmacy and theres pills everywhere and you have to have nancy pick up a gun and point it at him lmfao. ofc the cowards changed this unhinged ending on the remake!!

ive been playing a shit ton of darkest dungeon lately and here's my opinion on which black butler characters would be which class!!

darkest dungeon is really cool btw!! it kind of has the same elements of black butler (fucked up protag, supernatural creatures, mental health being explored in a neat way, and the running theme of everyone being the absolute worst besides like two or three people!). i really recommend it if you love sadistic video games with eldritch horrors!!

UNLESS you wanna talk enemies- then there's brigand vvulf who blows things the fuck up because he can! i think that fits him too! kind of!! since brigand is kind of a massive asshole.

finny: OH GOD,,, i had a toughie with this one buuuut- im probably going to go with bounty hunter or leper because of finny's SHEER strength. he's just busted man and you can beat the entire game with leper sooooo yeah! the mean part of me wanted to say abomination but again, thats mean but it's extremely wild to me that they pretty much have the same Tragic Backstory of experimented on for the lols and now just have to deal with it. at least finny got the better end of the stick! poor abomination...

grelle: hellion! she is the biggest girlboss in the game so ofc she'd fit grelle, come on now. the hellion class is extremely broken powerful and puts out an insane amount of damage! a part of me wants to argue grave robber but it doesn't have a lot of flashy and powerful moves- this is mainly considering grelle is the 3rd strongest character in the series iirc.

william: OH ANOTHER HARD ONE- but i think he'd fit being a shieldbreaker! it's a bit of a stretch but hear me out- it's mainly the weapon and it's capabilities that would make william fit the class the most!! also her defensive end seeing as william being pretty good at Not Getting His Shit Wrecked or at least as badly (book of circus is def something i needa rewatch)

undertaker: oh this bitch. i'm probably going to go with the prophet boss! the prophet defied the ancestor by speaking facts and wouldn't die no matter what the ancestor did, kind of like how taker is with the dispatch. also the fact they're both blind but hit like a fucking truck fits!!

ronald: my BOY! now HE'D be grave robber!! he's not really too strong and kinda squishy but can still be formidable if not taken seriously. also the mental image of him hitting an undead with a pickaxe to the face is funny to me-

eric: either highwayman or man-at-arms! both classes are good at taking out a lot of enemies at once and eric is pretty good at killing people <3

alan: OUGH another hard one- i think character wise (more than attack wise), he'd def fit the leper. the leper goes through it and so does alan yet they still kick ass and get the job done!

othello: this dummy! i think antiquarian would fit! antiquarians are support heroes 100% and then they hit like a truck...! a toy truck...! a toy truck that's a stuffie...! unless you get a hit off with "nervous stab" but it's not really all that worth it. OH and the move "protect me" that's pretty much the same as othello using grelle as a meat shield fits.

theyre shifters ofc meaning that they can in fact shift between their human and merfolk forms

they're moonbound bc yknow. moon. ocean. yeah

closely related to water elementals!! im thinking theyre both descended from another water-related kind of empowered person that is now extinct or at least like. very rare

can breathe underwater and can stay in their nonhuman form for like. a long ass time. like some merfolk literally stay underwater their entire life

since some of them prefer to stay underwater, they do have underwater cities! i think the capitol of merfolk society is probably one of the cornerstone cities

d.u.m.p. has a whole department of merfolk/water elementals that specifically deal with stuff underwater bc believe it or not most empowered people can't breathe underwater

in addition to that they have their own mini version of d.u.m.p. that basically handles all the smaller stuff that's not important enough to d.u.m.p. to justify sending someone so far away. however they still have to report and answer to the actual d.u.m.p.

most merfolk that have all merfolk parents are born and raised underwater

they can be born above water and it typically happens with half human or human born merfolk (can shifters be humanborn?? idk)

i imagine most shifters are born in their human form, whereas merfolk are born in their non human form

maybe they're eggs idk

but the point is about 75-80% of merfolk are born and raised underwater

they do tend to stick together like vampire clans or wolf packs (they're called shoals) and are similar to wolf packs in that once a family joins, they typically don't leave and neither do their descendants

shoals are a thing above ground but they're definitely smaller and much harder to find unless you're literally right next to the coast

d.a.m.n. probably has a couple classes geared towards merfolk, but probably not very many considering they have a whole ass underwater society with their own schools n stuff

i know i've been saying like. human and non human in reference to their forms. AND THEY ARE STILL HUMAN but i imagine theres some key differences that come with growing up underwater

the first is their lungs

i imagine that in their non human form their lungs are capable of expanding much more than a regular person and they can replicate that in their human form if they choose

which makes singing or playing certain instruments so much easier

i also imagine that their vocal chords will change when they shift so they can communicate underwater much easier and they can also bring that into their singing and instrument playing if they so choose to have a really cool echo-y effect

skylar is terrified of being alone, its the reason he was in his situation before he met kitty in the first place. he will do anything for you if he thinks you will leave him if he doesnt obey.

kitty is terrified of hurting the people close to her, mostly after when she attacked skylar bc of the blood moon bs. after a few more moons they figured out what the deal was but shes still afraid that something could happen and she could attack someone again without warning. before that.. im not sure? i havent thought much about that

when hes with the right people skylar is a vry good student but before he met kitty he was in the principals office a lot and his grades dropped bc he was so exhausted emotionally from being w the ppl he was friends with and it took a toll on his mental health and his ability to focus and slash or care about school.

kitty is a good student in the classes that can keep her attention (usually science and history) but she has a real tough time if shes not Really Interested in whatever shes supposed to be learning, it just doesnt stick with her well. attitude wise tho shes a good student. she doesnt get into trouble unless the trouble finds her first and then shes too stubborn to back down lol

WELL. a looong while back i wrote a vent fic about dave like getting the shit beat out oif him or whatever. and skylar was one of the bg characters. he was very remorseful but didnt do anything to help dave or apologize and was just like.. in the bg for no reason? but then i was like i kinda....wanna do more with this guy. so i kinda like made an alternate ending to what i had where skylar helped dave after instead of leavin him where he was. and then i got attached lmfao.

kitty was made specifically for skylar! for a long while i thought skylar would always be like. a stand alone character it just felt rlly weird giving him a second Permenant character that wasnt terrible for him and then one day i was like WELL.....what if.......this Girl and then kitty was created

most traumatic.. for skylar probably . being kind of forced to hurt people?? not necessarily forced by other ppl but forced by himself ofc. but it was still traumatic. 

kitty... im not sure. she hasnt really had any traumatic experiences so aside from attacking skylar which she could only remember bits and pieces of anyway idk !

kitty could kill someone accidentally during a blood moon or if she was pushed too far in a non blood moon Wolf time she could probably kill someone but she definitely wouldnt mean to if she was coherent. shes a little more irritable during wolf times (i think i already mentioned that in this or the other one but) and if she gets too angry the wolf in her comes out a little more and she gets violent. shell only mean to maim but miiight go a little too far. hasnt happened yet though and she is determined to be sure it never happens.

skylar however. after like a year of hurting people hes sort of. learnt to dissociate in the process of it to cope. so if he was also pushed far enough, but like, thatd take more than wolfy kitty. like to the point of his family (including kitty) being seriously hurt or threatened seriously he could sorta. snap and have at it. and he could accidentally kill them. really unlikely though.

skylar tends to avoid social groups for long periods of time and if he is w a social group hes pretty quiet and will mostly just talk to kitty between her conversations with other people. uhh id go a little more in depth about how kitty interacts with people but i.. do not go to social groups and interact enough to see how an extrovert.. would interact with other people. at least i dont kno enough abt how theyd interact to be decisive abt it. sorry lol

skylar is def worried most of the time. he overthinks things especially when asked to do something, like hell overthink whether or not he did whatever thing correctly and overthink every little detail he worries a lot.

kitty likes to day dream! she likes to talk to skylar about her daydreams a lot n shell be able to go on for like an hour about whatever shes thinking about and skylar just likes to listen to her and she doesnt need him to participate a super lot just like. Listening makes her happy. shes got a lotta thoughts all the time

skylars dad was not a very good person, not like physically abusive or anything but he was a toxic person and he is no longer in skylars life. his mom however! is a very nice person. shes rlly patient with skylar nd was especially when he was in that rlly bad place and was getting into trouble a lot. she knew there was something going on
