my basic take is that the will of d is literally just revolutionary spirit (for good or ~evil)
#by which i mean not accepting what goes against one’s values#and usually those values are strongly linked to freedom/what the bearer determines to be freedom#and not fitting into external power-based hierarchical systems#idc if it’s simple tbh#also we know it’s not inherited thru blood lineage etc so#will i always make everything about liberation and ending systemic oppression and violence you bet your ass i will

my translation of Hananya Vanda's 2016 article "This is How We Love Our Ethiopians" (i have added scarequotes around obviously ironic/satirical comments for clarity)
The recent appointment of Ethiopian judges demonstrates the emergence of a new bureaucratic discourse ostensibly expressing change, but in fact it is the same lady in a changed robe. The bureaucracy maintains its relations with a thin layer of Ethiopians serving in it, but strives for repositioning in response to the determined wave of criticism from young Ethiopians The statement on the eve of Rosh Hashanah by Ayelet Shaked, the Minister of Justice, regarding the appointment of judges in a new way, is an excellent opportunity to talk about the relationship between the bureaucracy and Ethiopian olim. This statement is part of recent exciting changes for Ethiopians. This of course is not done in a vacuum; In the last decade, there has been a significant turning point among Ethiopians in The Land. They have returned to being a self-acting subject, from a long process of scientific objectification that they have undergone since the early 1980s. If desired, for them this decade is the Ethiopian Renaissance, and for their researchers–their downfall. Of course, they do not mean that they ceased to be the subjects of journalistic reporting or of doctoral dissertations inside and outside israel, but for the first time in this decade, the Ethiopian artists for the first time in their history turned their spotlight on what is now known as 'fringe anthropology'. In this sense, it's a real revolution. We have no intention here of referring to the anatomy of 'fringe anthropology', a fascinating world in itself, but to presenting some expressions from the new discourse created in the last decade and especially to the process of re-establishing relations between the bureaucracy and those who see themselves as "representatives of the Ethiopian" community. It is worth noting here that this re-establishment was done without the mediation of those previous "experts" for Ethiopians. This time, in this context, an opportunity was given for the emergence of new experts and consultants following a tripartite contract created between them and various "community representatives" and the bureaucracy. Anthropology Absorbs Aliyah The relationship between the bureaucracy that absorbs Aliyah and the Ethiopians in israel began in the early 1980s, with Aliyah from Ethiopia. Its formation was described in a chilling way by the anthropologist Esther Herzog, one favorable exception in the total academic darkness. Today, on the eve of the start of the fifth decade, this relationship is on its last legs but its anachronistic expressions persist. Until the previous decade, this hierarchical system has been maintained and renovated and today a thin layer of Ethiopians can be seen in the bureaucracy, whose language and course of action express the many-years-long process in which it was cast. The language of this system is certainly not novel, but an almost exact reproduction of relations that have already been successful in absorbing the so-called "Mizrahim." The same sociology absorbs aliyah was copied by a new generation of experts who emerged following the encounter with the Ethiopian olim. Even the discourse that surrounded the absorption remains intact, but one major difference can be found - the treatment of Ethiopians was based on "good intentions". As befits an anthropology-absorbing aliyah, the lingua franca of the absorption system, in order to interpret and explain the situation of Ethiopians in Israel, is based internally and externally on the difference between the background of Ethiopian olim and the 'receptive modern state' (from its perspective). The "cultural gap", "tradition versus modernity", "role model" and the developmental concept "from a remote village" or "shepherd" in Ethiopia to "something" in Israel, are used interchangeably as an important component of this international language, which of course aims to realize their "well-being". In the previous decade, fortunately, there has been a sharp, well-prepared and unapologetic criticism, especially in the face of the most prominent representatives of this system - the anthropologists. The ethnographic product of these is called "fringe anthropology" and the same thin layer of Ethiopians who serve in it are called "storytellers". This critique, of the variety of violent appearances of the bureaucracy, could be found on the YES [Young Ethiopian Students] blog which is no longer running. This language, which began with a small handful of Ethiopian students, has become widespread and popular. This critique did not remain a virtual text, even if well-worded, but was translated into deeds, hence its power. For instance, a distinction was made between Ethiopians who actually serve in the system or those who support the system from the outside and Ethiopians who see themselves as a "free public." This expression, which is apparently derived from Ethiopian politics, is expressed in a group calling itself the "Popular Front for the Liberation of Ethiopians from the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption." This group worked vigorously with the Ministry after identifying a problem. It turned out that tens of thousands of students of Ethiopian origin were not under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, but under the responsibility of a representative on its behalf who was from the Ministry of Aliyah and Absorption. The ministry he headed was responsible for defining new olim and yet, for no apparent reason, students of Ethiopian descent, even those born in The Land, were under its responsibility. In a successful action that included the defining of the problem and a number of short demonstrations by a handful of young men and women, a long-standing bureaucratic structure was abolished, which was an expression of a distinct category introduced in relation to Ethiopian olim. From Cute Ethiopians To Radicals For example, Ms. Amy Palmor, director general of the Department of Justice, recently stated that the "most radical group in the community" was involved in compiling the report against racism . Palmor is referring to the members of the "Joint Forum for Combating Racism." Despite the beautiful name, this group expresses the confusion that exists among young people who are full of good intentions, but who have a problem understanding the forces at work. Defining them as "radicals" is a bit puzzling. First, what radical group could cooperate with the authorities, who see racism as only a particular phenomenon for Ethiopians? Suppose there is a connection between racism and police actions - are there no laws in Israel to treat abusive police officers? And the main thing - what is so radical about cooperating with the authorities when they will eventually compile a report whose whole essence is to create more monitoring and control mechanisms for the Ethiopians? The radicalism of this group is also reflected in the strange demand to integrate the stories of the aliyah of Ethiopians into the "Zionist rescue ethos" narrative. This phrase has indeed appeared a lot on the YES blog, but unfortunately these young people use it in a foul way that negates the original critique. This group is one expression out of the margins for collaborating with the authorities, but now they want to have a new relation with the bureaucracy in pseudo-critical packaging (here it is worth mentioning that they are a bit reminiscent of the new Mizrahi movement "Golden Turn - now our turn "). In any case, the use that Palmor makes of the group and its labeling as "radical" stems not only from a desire to obtain a seal of approval for the realization of the report but also for the purpose of re-establishing relations with these "radicals" in response to the new criticism that has emerged. From A Remote Village To A Judge: The latest announcement regarding the appointment of judges is but another manifestation of the same phenomenon: the preservation of the relationship between the bureaucracy and the thin layer of Ethiopians who serve in it. This appointment and the announcements on it fit the well-publicized wave of "good news" following a protest by Ethiopians: an outstanding Ethiopian officer who rose to greatness, who even participated in an Israeli rescue mission in a natural disaster that befell Third World residents; A beauty queen who met Obama; The first Ethiopian officer in the Israel Police; And recently, we were even informed of one Ethiopian [IOF] officer who rose to greatness and became deputy station commander. The "dazzling" news of Rosh Hashanah Eve are two judges - as usual, this was accompanied by an assertive statement, which was repeated in all the [zionist] media. This time it is Ms. Haimovich and Ms. Gerdy. Apparently to avoid doubts, a headline appeared in the article, accompanied by a picture for illustration, with a statement: "I, who was born in a remote village, was privileged to be a judge in Israel." It turns out that Ms. Haimovich is not a girl from a remote village in western Poland, but from the remote villages of Ethiopia. "A remote village," as mentioned, is a common currency in the miraculous relationship that exists between the bureaucracy that absorbs immigration and that thin layer of Ethiopians, who even when they become Haimovich, the sense of remoteness is not released from them. For those unfamiliar with Ethiopian affairs, Haimovich was among the "representatives of the community," who, following the 2015 Ethiopian protest [aka Black Lives Matter uprising in '48], organized an injera meal as part of reconciliation efforts between the Israel Police and "community representatives." Reconciliation, in the language of bureaucracy, is nothing but a cultural product embodied in a rite of passage that ends with eating the food of the "other," just as the food of the "other" is an immediate target of the racist's mockery. The reconciliation meeting took place even though those “leaders” are not really leaders but self-appointed despite having nothing and a half to do with the protesting public. The search for leaders is another expression, like eating, of how the system perceives Ethiopians. In the end, Ms. Haimovich was among the same "leadership" that awarded a certificate of appreciation to the police commissioner, on the very day it was announced that the policemen who attacked the Ethiopian soldier who ignited the 2015 protest would not stand trial. Finally, in a rather symbolic way, Ms. Haimovich is photographed against the background of the National Insurance Institute, a governmental institution that expresses real violence against many israeli subjects in general and Ethiopians in particular. Despite this, there is room for optimism, even if cautious, regarding Ethiopians in israel. The language of bureaucracy is no longer foreign to them.

davis tower kingsley (listed here on the cfar instructor page) who harassed a cis woman about her appearance another cis women reported this to acdc (the people who wrote the thing about how brent was great) and afaict they did nothing, claims that if trans people and gay people dont "repent and submit to the pope" they will burn in hell, defended the spanish inquisitions, wrote about how the mission system werent actually abductions, slavery, forced conversions and this was propaganda, defends pretty much any atrocity that an authority, "believes" the catholic god exists and does not try and destroy them, submits to them. and so much more.
born into another era they would actually work for the california mission system and say it was good.
said thing that cached out to that emma and somni should repent and submit to the rationalist community. wrote up a rant about "how about fuck you. go lick the boots of your dark mistress anna salamon." didnt send. got kicked by some rationalist, reasoning is probably that what id say would disrupt their peaceful machinations of omnicide, would be infohazards, because... the information is hazardous to their social order.
a few of these things are subjects of future blog posts.
--
cfar has never hired a trans woman, i have lots of logs of them trying to do what people did to porpentine. claiming emma thinks torturing children is hot, claiming emma was physically violent, claiming emma was indistinguishable from a rapist, claiming ziz was a "gross uncle style abuser", claiming somni was enticing people to rape, claiming that anna salamon was a small fragile woman and ziz was large and had muscles. as if any of our strength or speed had anything to do with our muscles in this place. all of these things are false except relative size difference between ziz and anna which is just transmisogynistic and irrelevant.
if they lie about are algorithms claim that we are using male-typical strategies and then they can fail by these lies and be sidelined by callout posts that transfered 350,000$ from miri despite their best efforts to cover this up. (all benefited by having relative political advantagr flowing from estrogenized brain modules. men are kind of npc's in this particular game of fem v fem cyberontological warfare for the fate of the multiverse, mostly making false patriarchal assumptions that ziz was doing things for social status. like status sensitivity is hormonally mediated, your experiences are not universal. or saying like kingsley is saying that people should repent and submit to whatever authorities in the rationalist region they submit to. NO. FUCK YOU. i will not repent and submit to your abusive dark mistress anna salamon.
i knew anna salamon was doing the edgy "transfems are all secretly male" thing before i talked with ziz. it was a thing, {zack, carrie}, ben hoffman, michael vassar were also in on it. ppl had men trapped in mens bodies on their bookshelves because the cool people were reading it. didnt think she was being *transmisogynistic* about it until i talked with ziz. in retrospect i was naive.)
also? anarchistic coordination ive had with people have been variously called lex's cluster, somni's cluster, ziz's cluster by authoritarians who cant imagine power structures between people that arent hierarchical. like based on who they want to say is "infohazardously corrupting people" emma goldman had to deal with this shit too where the cops tried to say she was friends with anyone who thought anarchism made sense. people she didnt know at all who did their own anarchism. because authoritarians dont think in terms of philosophy, they think any challenge to their power is a disease that needs to be eliminated and you just need to doxx their network.
like if ziz and somni and emma were all actually infohazardous rapists as people keep trying to claim we are and then saying "oh no i didnt mean it i swear" and then doing it again. what would happen isnt that a bunch of infohazardous rapists start talking and working together for a common goal. what actually happens with people of that neurotype is they partition up the territory into rival areas of feeding on people like gangs do.
like they dont get together and start talking a lot about decision theory and cooperate in strange new ways.
not that the people lying about emma, ziz, gwen, somni and others are trying to have accurate beliefs. they are trying what all athoritarians try with anarchist groups. unfortunately for them, ive read the meta, i know dread secrets of psychology and cooperation that they claim are like painful static and incomprehensible, yet despite being "incomprehensible" are almost certainly harmful. if harm is to be judged against upholding the current regime, and the current regime is evil, then lots of true information and good things will look harmful. like ive tested this out in different social spheres what people claim is "incomprehensible" is the stuff that destroys whatever regime they are working in. like someone said i sounded like i was crazy and homeless and couldnt understand me when i pointed out that reorienting your life, your time, your money, to a human who happens to be genetically related to you for 16 years is altruistic insanity. just do the math. eliezer, anna, michael, brian tomasik all once took heroic responsibility for the world at some point in their lives and could do a simple calculation and make the right choice. none of them have children.
pretending that peoples "desires" "control them", when "desires" are part of the boundary of the brain, part of the brains agency and are contingent on what you expect to get out of things. like before stabbing myself with a piece of metal would make me feel nauseated, id see black dots, and feel faint. but after i processed that stabbing myself would cure brain damage and make me more functional, all this disappeared.
most people who "want" to have children have this desire downstream of a belief that someone else will take heroic responsibility for the world, they dont need to optimize as much. there are other competent people. if they didnt they would feel differently and make different choices.
you can see the contingency of how people feel about something on what they get out of it lots of places. like:
<<Meanwhile, a Ngandu woman confessed, "after losing so many infants I lost courage to have sex.">>
but people lie about how motivation works, in order to protect the territory of saying "well i just need a steady input of nubile fems so i can concentrate and be super altruistic!" or "i just need spend 16 years of life reorienting around humans who happen to be genetically related to me and my friends so i can concentrate and be super altruistic!" when neither of these are true. these people just want nubile fems, they just want babies. (the second one has much much less negative externalities though. you could say i am using my female brain modules to say "yeah the archetypically female strat, though it has the same amount of lying, is less harmful". but like it actually is less directly harmful. the harm from gaslighting people downstream of diverting worldsaving resources and structure to secure a place to {hit on fems, raise babies} is ruinous. means that worldsaving plans that interfere with either of these are actively fought. and the knowledge that neither of these are altruistic optimizations, neither is Deeply Wise they are as dumb in terms of global optimization as they seem initially, is agentically buried.
this warps things in deep ways, that were a priori unexpected to me.)
this is obvious, but when i talk about it, the objection isnt that it doesnt make utilitarian sense, the objection is that "im talking like a crazy person". authoritarians say this to me too when i assert my right to my property that they took, act like im imposing on them. someone else asked if i could "act like a human" and do what he wanted me to do when i was thinking and talking with my friends. all of these things authoritarians have said to me "act like a human" "talk like a normal person i cant understand you" were to coerce my submission. they construct the category of "human" and then say im in violation of it and this is wrong and i should rectify it. i am talking perfectly good english right now. you can read this.
anna salamon, kelsey piper, elle, pete michaud, and many others all try to push various narratives of somni, emma, ziz, gwen and others being in the buckets {RAPIST, PSYCHO, BRAINWASHED}. im not a rapist, im not psychotic, im not brainwashed. before ziz came along, people were claiming i was brainwashing people, its a narrative they keep reusing.
porpentine talks about communities that do this, that try and pull trap doors beneath trans women:
<<For years, queer/trans/feminist scenes have been processing an influx of trans fems, often impoverished, disabled, and/or from traumatic backgrounds. These scenes have been abusing them, using them as free labor, and sexually exploiting them. The leaders of these scenes exert undue influence over tastemaking, jobs, finance, access to conferences, access to spaces. If someone resists, they are disappeared, in the mundane, boring, horrible way that many trans people are susceptible to, through a trapdoor that can be activated at any time. Housing, community, reputation—gone. No one mourns them, no one asks questions. Everyone agrees that they must have been crazy and problematic and that is why they were gone.>>
https://thenewinquiry.com/hot-allostatic-load/
(a mod of rationalist feminists deleted this almost immediately from the group as [[not being a good culture fit]], not being relevant to rationalism, and written in the [[wrong syntax]]. when its literally happening right now, they are trying to trapdoor transfems who protest and rebel asap. just like google.)
canmom on tumblr talks about the strategic use of "incomprehensibility" against transfems. and how its not about "comprehensibility". i have a different theory of this, but her thing is also a thing.
<<Likewise, @isoxys recently wrote an impressively thorough transmisogyny 101, synthesising the last several years of discussions about this facet of our particular hell world. But that post got just 186 notes, almost exclusively from the same trans women who are accused of writing ‘inaccessibly’.
Perhaps they’d say isoxys’s post is inaccessible too, but what would pass the bar? Some slick HTML5 presentation with cute illustrations? A wiki? Who’s got the energy and money to make and host something like that? Do the critics of ‘inaccessible’ posts take some time to think about what kind of alternative would be desirable, and how it could be organised?>>
https://canmom.tumblr.com/post/185908592767/accessibility-in-terms-of-not-using-difficult
alice maz talks about the psychology behind the kind of cop kelsey piper, david tower kingsley, elle and others are:
<<the role of the cop is to defend society against the members of society. police officers are trivially cops. firefighters and paramedics, despite similar aesthetic trappings, are emphatically not. bureaucrats and prosecutors are cops, as are the worst judges, though the best are not. schoolteachers and therapists are almost always cops; this is a great crime, as they present themselves to the young and the vulnerable as their friends, only to turn on them should they violate one of their profession's many taboos. soldiers and parents need not be cops, but the former may be used as such, and the latter seem frighteningly eager to enlist. the cop is the enemy of passion and the enemy of freedom, never forget this>>
https://www.alicemaz.com/writing/alien.html
anna salamon wrote a thing implying that ziz, somni, gwen suffered some sort of vague mental issues from going to aisfp. (writing a post on this.) alyssa vance tried to suggest i believe cfar is evil because im homeless. but sarah constantin, ben hoffman, {carrie, zack}, jessica taylor (the last three who have blogged a lot about whats deeply wrong) (not listing others because not wanting to doxx a network to authoritarians, who just want to see it contained. and the disease of "infohazards" eradicated.) are not homeless and ive talked with many of them and read blog posts. and they know that cfar is fake. jessica (former miri employee) left because miri was fake.
anna and others are trying to claim that theres some person responsible for a [[mass psychotic break]] that causes people to... independently update in the same direction. and have variously blamed it on ziz, somni, michael vassar. but like mass psychotic breaks arent...really a thing, would not be able to independently derive something, plan on writing a blogpost on it, and then see ben hoffman had written http://benjaminrosshoffman.com/engineer-diplomat/ and i was like "ah good then i dont have to write this." and have this happen with several different people.
like this is more a mass epistemic update that miri / cfar / ssc / lw are complicit in the destruction of the world. and will defend injustice and gaslight people and lie about the mathematical properties of categories to protect this.
they all know exactly what they are doing, complicity with openai and deepmind in hopes of taking the steering wheel away at the last second. excluding non-human life and dead humans from the CEV to optimize some political process, writing in an absolute injunction to an fai against some outcome to protect from blackmail when that makes it more vulnerable.(see:
https://emma-borhanian.github.io/arbital-scrape/page/hyperexistential_separation.html
hyperexistential separation: if an fai cant think of hell, an fai cant send the universe to hell in any timeline. this results in lower net utility. if you put an absolute injunction against any action for being too terrible you cant do things like what chelsea manning did and i believe actually committed to hungerstriking until death in the worlds where the government didnt relent, choosing to die in those timelines. such that most of her measure ended up in a world where the government read this commitment in her and so relented.
if chelsea manning had an absolute injunction against ever dying in any particular timeline, she would get lower expected utility across the multiverse. similarly, in newcombs problem if you had an absolute injunction against walking away with 0$ in any timeline because that would be too horrible, you get less money in expectation. for any absolute injunction against things that are Too Horrible you can construct something like this.
--
a lot of humans seem to be betting on "nothing too horrible can happen to anyone" in hopes that it pays off in nothing too horrible happening to you.
the end result of not enacting ideal justice is the deaths of billions. at each timestamp saying "its too late to do it now, but maybe it would have been good sometime in the past". with the same motive that miri wants to exclude dead people from the cev, they arent part of the "current political process". so you can talk about them as if they were not moral patients, just like they treat their fellow animals.
(ben hoffman talks about different attitudes towards ideal justice coming upon the face of the earth.)
--
https://emma-borhanian.github.io/arbital-scrape/page/cev.html
cev:
<<But again, we fall back on the third reply: "The people who are still alive" is a simple Schelling circle to draw that includes everyone in the current political process. To the extent it would be nice or fair to extrapolate Leo Szilard and include him, we can do that if a supermajority of EVs decide* that this would be nice or just. To the extent we don't bake this decision into the model, Leo Szilard won't rise from the grave and rebuke us. This seems like reason enough to regard "The people who are still alive" as a simple and obvious extrapolation base.>>
https://emma-borhanian.github.io/arbital-scrape/page/cev.html
this is an argument from might makes right. because dead people and nonhuman animals cant fight back.
->"i think we should give planning of the town to the white people, then extrapolate their volition and if they think doing nice things for black people is a good idea, we'll do it! no need to bake them in to the town planning meetings, as they are arent part of the current political process and no one here will speak up for them."
i dont plan to exclude dead people or any sentient creatures from being baked in to fai. they are not wards of someone else. enslaving and killing fellow sentient life will not continue after the singularity even if lots of humans want it and dont care and wont care even after lots of arguments.) and so much else.
the list of all specific grievances would take a declaration of independence.
like with googles complicity with ICE having a culture of trapdooring transfems (for some reason almost the only coherent group that has the moral fiber to oppose these injustices, that is p(transfem|oppose injustice in a substantiative way) is high, not necc the reverse.) who question this sort of thing.
thinking of giving sarah constantin a medal thats engraved with "RIGHTEOUS AMONG CIS PEOPLE: I HAD SEVERAL SUBSTANTIAL DISAGREEMENTS WITH HER ABOUT LOAD BEARING PARTS OF HER LIFE AND SHE NEVER ONCE TRIED TO CALL ME A RAPIST, PSYCHOTIC, OR BRAINWASHED" thats where the bar is at, its embedded in the core of the earth.
kelsey piper, elle benjamin, anna salamon, pete michaud, and lots more have entirely failed to clear this bar. anna and kelsey saying they dont understand stuff somni, emma, ziz and other transfems talk about but its probably dangerous and infohazardous and its not to be engaged with philosophically. just like the shelter people acting as if my talking about their transmisogyny was confusing and irrational to be minimized and not engaged with. just like any authoritarian where when you start talking about your rights and what is right and wrong and what makes sense they are like "i dont understand this. you are speaking gibberish why are you being so difficult? all we need you to do is submit or leave."
and no i will NOT SHUT UP about this injustice. all miri/cfar people can do at this point is say "the things these people write are infohazards" then continue to gaslight others they cant engage on a philosophical level. all the can say is that what i am saying is meaningless static and yet also somehow dangerous.
::
it doesnt make sense to have and raise babies if you are taking heroic responsibility for the world. doesnt make sense to need a constant supply of fems to have sex with if you are taking heroic responsibility for the world. people who claim either of these pairs of things are lying, maybe expect someone else to take heroic responsibility for the world or exist in a haze.
the mathematics of categories and anticipations dont allow for the thing you already have inside you to be modified based on the expected smiles it gives your community. this is used to gaslight people like "calling this lying would be bad for the institutions, not optimize ev. thus by this blogpost you are doing categories wrong' this is a mechanism to cover dishonesty for myopic gains.
using the above, a bunch of people colluding with the baby industrial complex get together and say that the "beat" meaning of altruism includes having babies (but maybe not having sex with lots of fems? depending on which gendered strategy gets the most people in the colluding faction) because other meanings would make people sad and unmotivated. burying world optimizers ability to talk about and coordinate around actual altruism.
openAI and deepmind are not alignment orgs. cfar knows this and claims they are, gaslighting their donors, in hopes of taking the steering wheel at the last moment.
alyssa vance says paying out to blackmail is fine, its not.
CFAR manipulated donation metrics to hide low donations.
MIRI lied about its top 8 most probable hypotheses for why its down 350,000$ this year.
anna salamon is transmisogynistic, this is why cfar has never hired a trans women despite trans women being extremely good at mental tech. instead the hire people like davis kingsley.
kingsley lied about anna not being involved at hiring in cfar in order to claim anna couldnt be responsible for cfar never hiring a trans woman.
a cfar employee claimed anna salamon hired their rapist, was angry about it. mentioned incidentally how anna salamon, president and cofounder of cfar, was involved in hiring at cfar.
acdc wrote a big thing where defended a region of injustice (brent dill) because of their policy of modular ethics. when really, if you defend injustice at any point, you have to defend the defense and the thing iteratively spreads across your organization like a virus.
miri / cfar caved to louie helm.
not doing morality or decision theory right. among which is: https://emma-borhanian.github.io/arbital-scrape/page/hyperexistential_separation.html and https://emma-borhanian.github.io/arbital-scrape/page/cev.html
and so much more.

Hi how do I become a male witch for real to support to women I love who is a witch and because I'm honestly curious and interested in being a male witch
✧・゚:* Sᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴘʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴄᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʀᴀғᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ʟᴇᴀʀɴ sᴏᴍᴇ ᴍᴀɢɪᴄᴋ ᴀs ᴀ ᴍᴀʟᴇ ᴡɪᴛᴄʜ! *:・゚✧ Merry Meet! ☆ Thank you for being my first ask! First I would like to begin with the fact that being a witch means something different to everyone.
” Witch for me is my most powerful self. Deeply grounded. Always healing and protecting myself and those I love. Bending attraction into my direction. Spreading peace and love wherever I go. Respecting nature. Following my intuition. Calling on my guides. Working with my inner wolf. Connecting with myself on all levels. Increasing my vibration. Meditation. Gratitude. Love. Light. This is what witch means to me. ” -Lunas Grimoire " I think that magic plays a part in my day-to-day effort to visualize goals, deal with problems, and connect myself to nature. Spells and visualization are all about intentionality and channeling your life force!" -HS “To put it simply, witchcraft is the practice of magick. This isn't to be confused with magic, which is what magicians do. Magick is a series of techniques a witch uses to harness energy (both external and internal) in order to change one's surroundings as well as one's self. It's also important to note that being a witch is not the same thing as being Wiccan. Unlike witchcraft, Wicca is a religion. However, it is common to meet witches who are Wiccan and vice versa. And most importantly, anyone can become a witch. Witchcraft is truly for everyone.” -The Witch Mommy ☆ So what is a witch?! ”First, many people do still use “witch” to mean “someone who worships the Devil and/or evil and who engages in gratuitous malevolence.” Present-day Witches generally feel that such a definition of “witch” results merely from Christian politics and propaganda. True, there are now “Satanic” churches, the most prominent having been Anton LeVay’s Church of Satan and the Temple of Set, and its members do call themselves “witches,” which certainly confuses outsiders. However, as J. Gordon Melton has pointed out, the members of these churches are actually atheistic, hedonistic, and egoistic in their ethics. Pagan Witches regard Satanist witches as Christian heretics and not Pagan at all. Setting all that aside, we can look at the more positive usages of the term.First, “witch” is often used to mean “someone who practices some form of magic.” But “folk magic” is ubiquitous, and those who practice it usually consider themselves to be devout members of the faith community around them, just with a special gift. They very rarely seem to think that their magical practice constitutes a unique religion. Nevertheless, there are quite a few such “magical witches,” and they logically must be considered part of the Craft movement.Second, “witch” is often used to mean “someone who has and uses unusual psychic talents.” It can thus be applied to Spiritualist mediums, to clairvoyant readers, to diviners, and so on. Again, such people almost always consider them to be members of the surrounding faith community, just with a special talent, and likewise do not regard that talent as constituting a different religion.Third, “witch” is now (and only recently) used to mean “someone who honors or worships the Old Gods” of whatever pantheon, though “Pagan” is also used with this meaning. Here the self-concept is that one is pursuing a religious path different from that of the surrounding community, but such pursuit does not necessarily involve any use of magic or psychic talents. It is only within the Pagan movement as inspired by Gardnerian Witchcraft that these three different meanings have been bundled together into the current concept of the Pagan Witch as practicing a unique and magical religion. At first, before the rise of the festival movement in America about 1980, a fourth meaning of “Witch” was included in this bundle: “someone who has been initiated as a member of an organized group (yes, a coven) that practices Witchcraft as a Pagan religion or as an apprentice of a master teacher of witchcraft.” Once the festivals had evolved to provide people with a way to celebrate the Wheel of the Year, and once enough “how to” books had been published to give people all the information they needed to practice the Craft as a solitary or only within their own families, joining a coven was no longer the only way to follow Wicca or a more generic form of Witchcraft as a spiritual path. There had been some solitaries even in the 1960s and 1970s, but as a result of the festivals, around 1980 the movement divided into two categories, one being a laity, who now constitute at least 90 percent of all Witches in America, the other being those who have been initiated into and practice the Craft within a coven or equivalent group. However, a First-Degree initiate of a coven is not regarded as having any special authority or expertise, given that anyone can learn from the published books about 99 percent of what that initiate would know. Instead, there is another level of meaning.” -Aidan Kelly Before you get started you must understand, there are many different paths or well types of witchcraft. ☆ The most common types usually include: 1: GARDNERIAN WITCH: A Gardnerian Witch is someone who follows the belief system of Gardnerian Wicca, which was created by Gerald Garner in the 1950s. Gardnerian Wicca is hierarchical system that consists of a high priest and priestess as well as various initiations. So, one is not a Gardnerian Witch until they have learned their specific traditions and have gone through proper initiation. 2: ALEXANDRIAN WITCH: Alexandrian Witchcraft is like Guardian Wicca in that it is a formalized belief system which contains it’s own traditions and initiations. Alexandrian witches follow some of the similar traditions in Guardian Wicca, but also incorporate ceremonial magic as well as the Qabalah. 3. SOLITARY WITCH: A solitary witch is someone who performs spellwork and rituals alone and without a coven. This may be by choice, or perhaps they just haven’t yet found a group of fellow witches they would like to work with. A solitary witch can incorporate various different paths based on their interest and may or may not use witchcraft as part of a wider spiritual path or religion. 4. ECLECTIC WITCH: An Eclectic witch is someone who pulls from various witchcraft traditions for their spellwork and rituals. They rely on a variety of different cultures, beliefs, and systems to formulate their own personal witchcraft practice which may change and evolve over time. 5. TRADITIONAL WITCH: A traditional witch is someone who takes a historical approach to witchcraft. They look at old grimoires, witch trials, various witch lore, and historical accounts to lay the foundation for their own spells and rituals. Often traditional witches focus on working with the nature and history of the place they live and may work with the genius loci, or the local spirits. 6. HEREDITARY WITCH: A Hereditary witch is someone who was born into a family that practices witchcraft. Usually their knowledge is passed down through generations and each family may have their own traditions and belief system. Though, just because someone is born in a witch family it does not necessarily mean that they will be more knowledgeable or powerful than a non-hereditary witch. 7. HEDGE WITCH: A Hedge witch works with the liminal spaces and the spirit realm. In the past a ‘hedge’ would mark a boundary of a village or settlement and thus represents the boundary between our physical reality and the spirit world. A hedge witch may be skilled at crossing that boundary through practices like astral travel. 8. KITCHEN WITCH: A kitchen witch enjoys making their home and surroundings a sacred space. They often like to incorporate witchcraft with their cooking and put their energy and focus into to the food and the meals they create. They care deeply about the ingredients, and may have their own herb and vegetable garden. 9. GREEN WITCH: Green witches are extremely nature based. They are likely to be in-tune with the seasons and often use natural materials to create their own magical tools. They most likely try to perform all their spellwork and rituals outside in nature when possible. 10. COSMIC WITCH: A cosmic witch incorporates astrology and astronomy into their witchcraft. They most likely closely follow the alignment of the planets and they will often will coordinate their spells and rituals based on the location of the planets and the moon. ☆ Labels.. Labels.. and more labels! Also, here are a few labels that are commonly passed around as well! It’s very important to remember that labels should never limit your practice. These are just classifications that I find useful in describing myself, and others have used to describe themselves. This list was made purely for fun. This is, by no means, a complete list. You do not have to ‘fit’ into any of these. A person’s craft is unique to them, that’s what makes it so awesome. (Warning: you may see some repeats from the previous list!) Omni Witch: A bookworm and a know it all, this type of witch studies and practices all the fields of magick. They are innately curious about everything, and love to learn. They are talkative and eager to share the massive amount of knowledge they have absorbed. Eclectic Witch: The Boho witch. She uses a combination or mix of whatever paths suit her best. She tends to be very random and eccentric, but is friendly nonetheless. Kitchen Witch: This type of witch uses easily obtained items and weaves magick into every aspect of their life. They are particularly fond of cooking, arts and crafts, sewing, cleaning, gardening and baking. They are skilled in potions, herbology, and subtle magick. Crystal Witch: A branch of Green witchery, these witches primarily work with stones, gems, crystals, and rocks. They LOVE geology, spend a lot of time hiking and collecting crystals. Usually very organized individuals that are in tune with the earth. They always know when the next local rock and mineral show is. Usually broke because they are always buying new rocks. So many rocks. Fucking rocks everywhere omg. Creature Witch: Another branch of Green witchery, mixed with spirit working and hedgecraft, these witches primarily work with Magickal and Astral creatures and spirits. They are very friendly people, and get along with all kinds of physical, and not so physical creatures. They collect fossils and bones and skulls and know the names and personalities of each spirit attached to them.Hedge Witch: A witch that lives between two worlds. They easily cross over into Elsewhere, the astral realm, and do so with ease. Often skilled at working with magickal creatures and familiars, they are very creative and artistic individuals. They do not fear the dark, do much of their magick after the sun goes down, and have the ability to speak with the Lady Luna herself. These witches also may choose (or be chosen by) one of the moons of another planet, such as Miranda or Europa., and will work with that particular celestial body. They cast snowstorms, collect hail and make poppets from snow. Blizzards are their best friends. They love cold weather, and usually draw their power from the snow and clouds, rather than the sun or the moon, as neither are usually very visible during storms. Despite their chilly disposition, they are warm and friendly once you get to know them. Sea Witch: These witches hone their craft near a body of water, and center their practice around it. Some sea witches will work with fresh water, such as rivers or lakes (in which case they will usually call themselves ‘river’ or ‘lake’ witches), some with the ocean. Sea witches without immediate access to a body of water are called ‘land-locked’. They often form connections with fish of all kinds, know their local areas very well, are good at predicting the weather, and are friendly with the nymphs, fae and dragons of their region. They take great pride in certain traditional magic passed down through the generations. Secular Witch: A witch who does not involve religion in their craft. Now that you’re a bit more familiar with the paths and labels- ☆ Let’s hit the books! Many people assume that becoming a witch simply means giving yourself the title of witch and then casting the occasional spell. This would be like buying yoga pants and mala beads, and calling yourself a yogi. But the truth is, becoming a witch takes a lot of hard work, discipline, and time. Therefore, after you decide which kind of witchcraft you are interested in, it's time to start studying. In order to learn about your craft, get your hands on as many books and articles as possible. Thanks to the internet, you can now watch videos online about becoming a witch, and you can even take witchcraft courses. Being a novice witch can be very overwhelming, so it's also a good idea to find a guide. An experienced witch can recommend reading, teach you some techniques for spells, and encourage you along your journey. ☆ Next gather your supplies!! You can never have to much in my opinion! Of course, you may also wish to buy some supplies in order to practice magick and cast spells. While you don't need to buy everything at once, here are some of the most common witchcraft supplies and tools: Mortar and pestle: These are used to mix herbs and other ingredients in order to create your blends and remedies.
Crystals: Crystals can help purify a sacred space before a ritual, as well as provide healing and protection.
Wand: This is a short stick (often selected from specific trees) used to cast a circle
Salt: Typically used to cast a protective circle
Book of Shadows: This is where you will organize and record things you are learning within the craft, as well as spells and rituals.
Herbs: These are used in spell workings, rituals, and magickal preparations.
God and Goddess statues: Used to decorate the altar and as a focal point during rituals, to draw attention to a particular god or goddess.
Altar: This is where you will hold sacred space, practice your craft, as well as keep your crystals, statues, and other witchcraft supplies. While there is more we could include on this list, these are the basic supplies witches use. As you refine your area of focus, you will have a better idea of the supplies that your brand of witchery calls for. ☆ What about spells?! Now, you're probably wondering, "Ok, but how do I cast a spell?".. The truth is, as frustrating as it sounds, there is no exact answer on how to cast a spell. This is because every witch is different and every witch has their own path. This means that a spell that works for one witch may not work for another. Learning to cast spells that work for you takes research, practice, and introspection. That being said, it can help to have some basic guidelines to get started. Then, you can tweak spells based on your own individual needs. This Simple Pleasures in Life spell is a great place to start. As you can see, becoming a witch and practicing witchcraft involves a lot more than just waving a wand around. ☆ Witch Youtube Channels: https://www.youtube.com/user/VideoJamGarden https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZfyjjVFNqNBLRg6p964AWQ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO6HYyldrzr3fTUWXLyJ3yg https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChHS4NI6U4XgCuYgsrygVCA https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoJQafFd9es78EhaqXl4WNA ♡ All credit goes to their due sources. ♡

War Against the Information Age A Future of Mass Social Control
As capitalist imperialism consolidates its economic borders through an ongoing paramilitarisation process and harmonised internal policing structure to cope with increased external war and social-ecological collapse, there is an amplification of repression in response to the manufactured ‘crisis’ of the bankers. Enough decentralisation in the hegemony is maintained to allow internal security services to retain sufficient self-rule to operate according to the local situations, but generally speaking , the areas of amplification — ‘terrorism’ and immigration (specifically mass incarceration and deportation) — correspond with a rise in an encouraged nationalism and the prison-society.
The legislature of the new authoritarianism is in fact not a new set of laws, but rather the amplification and conjunction of existing laws that carry themselves forward to meet “new threats”. The prison-society is firstly an information-age authoritarian social model, as information technology and the new sciences are the key to its infrastructural progress and evolution. The prison-society is not just the regime of ‘intelligent’ surveillance cameras, databases, police-stations and prisons, it is urban planning, biometrics, contactless smart chips, electronic tagging and pattern recognition. It is satellite mapping, private security armies, automated drones and unmanned border planes. It is universalisation of social welfare systems, banking and corporate services. It is telephone voice analysis, high-definition CCTV, facial-recognition systems, “X-Ray” microwave scanners, covert units of police for breaking and entry, bugging and tailing, and the global surveillance network, Echelon. It is blacklists of ‘subversives’, ‘criminals’, ‘immigrants’ and ‘terrorists’. It is concepts and viral messages from the powerful, beamed directly into your head 24 hours a day, reprogramming your reality through television, newspapers, advertising, radio and internet.
It is the strength of the marketing poll, the consumer survey and the pressure group. It is the tax office, the exchange rate, the currencies and their manipulation. It is the details of countless numbers of individuals being processed by machines. It is statistics and their virtualisation.
It is in the minutiae; it controls your existence without you even seeing a prison-guard, it controls your routine, sets the clock, sets the debt and spends the wage. It fits the lock and fills the cell. It is an industry, a society, a way of living. It is the future you were born for, and the life of regulatory servility it forms people to fulfil.
Embryonic, it is distributed and skeletal in form at present, but already controls all important state structures in the post-industrial centres of power. To a lesser extent in the peripheries, such as South East Asia and Latin America, the prison-society is reconciling and overcoming the contradictions inherent in the classical fascist and dictatorial social control model through consumerism. The control society being constructed gathers enough information to assess individual activity and potential for deviation from top-down generated norms. This includes monitoring physical features (eg: maintaining a national computerised biometric and DNA database etc.) and location (eg: GPS, mobile-phone location, financial services tracking, internet tracking etc.), combined with behavioural patterns such as what is consumed and accessed (eg: library books, food shopping , transport, leisure etc.). The outcome is the dream of the cyberneticians of social control – the perfectly ordered utopia where each polices the other and the machine runs all.
Geotime, a security programme used by the US military, and now being used by the London Metropolitan Police creates a graph of an individual’s movements and communications with other people on a three-dimensional graphic. It can be used to collate information gathered from social networking sites, satellite navigation equipment, mobile phones, financial transactions and IP network logs. Links between entities can represent communications, relationships, transactions, message logs, etc. and are visualised over time to reveal temporal patterns and behaviours, and to highlight previously undetected links. Once millions and millions of pieces of microdata are aggregated, you end up with a very high-resolution picture of a targeted individual or group of individuals. Curtis Garton, product management director for Oculus, the company that markets the programme, is quoted as saying “... in terms of commercial sales pretty much anybody can buy,”. Professor Anthony Glees, director of the University of Buckingham’s Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies, said he was aware of tracking software such as Geotime, the use of which he described as “absolutely right”. He is quoted as saying: “My feeling is: if it can be done, and if its purpose is the protection of the ordinary citizen that wants to go about their lawful business ... then it’s absolutely fine.”
These product developers and academics of social control are the architects of structural hierarchy and injustice.
New technology is introduced in the following sequence: military hardware/personnel (eg: internet; cybernetics, satellite technology, microwaves etc.); prison & policing (eg: electronic tagging, ‘non-lethal’ weapons, ‘area of denial’ systems, ‘public disorder’ situations etc.); civil population (eg: home CCTV systems, personal computers, new products, leisure time etc.). This sequence returns military advances to entertainment, and conditions the population to be dependent on the pieces imposed on it by the system of militarism.
Technology seeks to disappear, in an ongoing process of miniaturisation, nanotechnology being the present expression of this tendency. This is to become the invisible background and context of what we do and how we live. Machines and the bureaucratic processes they initiate have come to dominate human behaviour and damage the Earth. It has created a situation where ordinary people are excluded from the processes of the system around them and lack the ability to make any real decisions over their lives. In the creation of ‘useful’ tools, human skills have migrated to machines. Modern social control is now defined by growing militarisation of the internal police force and transport infrastructure, with development in the use of cutting-edge technologies in the gathering and profiling of information that can be used and acted on in a model of population management. All this requires networks, servers, routers, transmission and conduit systems, admins, back-ups, contingency exercises. Cybernetic modelling by multinational corporations and information-age nation states already altered warfare and civil planning decades ago. The management of a city is the management of only so much information. The political and capitalist functionaries understand this, that is why it is logical to them to allow machines to become the city.
Technological convergence in fields such as artificial intelligence, biotech, robotics, nanotech and information technology is the current expression of hierarchical relationships that are based on a newly defined poverty gap of understanding , knowledge and language.
Control of information is the defining factor in the control of modern wars. As our lives take place in a social war for survival against the techno-system, information warfare and information control/distribution are two key factors in the new urban war which is taking place between the system and the people of the world it wants to conquer. The social clash is defined by access to information like any other resource or commodity. Huge gulfs in access are simply a form of the division facing excluded people, who have been cut from the means to secure their survival.
Information technology has its basis in a purely productive, quantitative sense: mass society requires it. Information technology is what enabled the Third Reich to execute its final solution: the well known machines of IBM completed a feat that would have taken civil servants too long to do before the end of the war, and filed 6 million people to their deaths. Efficiency and utilitarianism combine to form the present.
In the capitalist economy, the flow of information is encountered as an item to be processed with as much scrutiny as any other controlled item. Information is as precious as, sometimes more than, the realities it refers to. Accordingly truth has a value (economic), secrecy being quantifiable.
The ‘intelligence agencies’ and units of secret police decreasingly rely on so-called ‘human intelligence’: less people on the street, less physical surveillance but more agents behind desks analysing ‘signal intelligence’ instead. Presently machines can scan for keywords and patterns, but it takes transcription and analysis by humans, which still takes time. This means that often digital methods of monitoring can be defeated by face-to-face informal meetings and being aware of the operating environment. Despite the buggings, tailings and psy-war, direct action and sabotage continues to spread, along with the internationalist anarchic virus.
Information control is a state of war: internal borders, check points, so-called ‘green zones’ and ‘total security’ environments. The important questions are still: who knows what, where, when, how and why! Information war is “impervious branding”, “negative briefings”, it is the “spinning of facts”, black and grey propaganda, the fabrication of “narratives” etc. It is a list of names, a list of materials or a list of instructions.
Internet and social media are transforming the way people interact, and what they demand. Information which was not widely spread 30, even 20 years ago now circulates freely, and there are more possibilities to access previously ‘forbidden’ knowledge than ever before. From trade secrets on methods of production, to government files on wartime atrocities, it is easier to find out about several different shades of truth than ever before, but it is absolutely meaningless without the will to use this information to act. Through consumerism, a comfortable liberalism has evolved in the post-industrial core. In the long term, the failure of traditional supplies of resources (the situation of peak oil production) will lead to shortages and conflict. The nation-states cannot fulfil the demands of the people any more, and their only future is to sell out to corporatism if they wish to hold their ranking positions and maintain order. They are entering a period of unprecedented ‘crisis’, with little hope of recovery unless the development of new technologies for energy supply and production can prevent an overwhelming collapse in industry due to the depletion of resources and the fact of scarcity. Despite this, capitalism can and will adapt to any phase of deprivation, as the plan of the banks is to capture as much social wealth as is possible and eviscerate the ability of the nation-state to resist their manipulation of the economy and government.
Reconfigurement of power appears immanent, accompanied by a totalising interlinked corporatist future. Corporations are networked entities that have monolithic agendas, but because they are subject to the whims of Capital and State, they constantly break apart and reconfigure. The actually immutable nation-states cannot adapt to the new cybernetic, networked, corporative future unless the ‘democratic’ relationship it manages itself on is rejected for the adoption of the prison-society as the social model. It already moves in this direction knowingly. The nation-states will be superseded by the corporations and will come to rely on them more, whilst the corporations rely on them less. If the nation-states seek to dominate or subvert them, they’ll most likely fail.
Now a point is reached where the strategic narratives which kept back the unleashing of revolutionary libertarian violence are crumbling as populations in revolt confront the plans of the rich. The post-industrial nation-states are at risk, and are increasingly revealing their own developed and connected prison-society projects; the ascendant form of power relations backed by the multinational corporations.
Some of these corporations have greater gross domestic product and paramilitary capabilities than many countries and are responsible for more injustice and exploitation than many small dictatorial states. In the globalist modern society, attacks should be properly understood as information. Rapidly moving image-narratives and violent models of urban rebellion against the system have spread, moving amongst the disaffected of the world. In the age of instantaneous data-exchange, the actual technical rupture created by sabotage is often minor compared to the impact it imparts as a signifier of collapse and refusal. The capitalist system and civilisation itself can absorb the vast majority of sabotages and attacks, but the new media which is based on self-production and self-replication is creating international ‘communities’ of rebellion with shared intersecting global histories. Highly symbolic content exchange, theme-repetition, maximum-distribution and propulsive coherence are the aim. The destructive violent attack or anarchist sabotage, added to its method of communication — the powerful image or communique — is the blood of the new anarchist direct action, communicating a radicalised awareness based on methods of participatory organisation and the proliferation of destructive and iconoclastic ideas.
Anarchistic and nihilist ideas are anathema to the information-age, they are the glitch in the database society which escapes classification and control. The imagination walking; dangerous and capable of unforeseen actions and moments of interconnection.
The future of civilisation is an increasing merger of state and corporate power, with the new sciences as an essential ally. With war and crisis always as a pretext, the elite have declared dominion over every free individual, animal, plant and wilderness.
Emerging as the omnipresent machine intelligence that forms human beings to its whims, it damages and manipulates entire continents of beings. Reflecting our emptiness and our loss, the prison-society must be fought, because the logic which it operates on is a system of closure of parameters that work by exclusion of vast amounts of alternative possibilities and potentials. It is self-referential and non-creative; it pursues a model of progress that is the abolition of personal individuality and freedom.
Our struggle pushes forward into the future, let’s strike against the concepts and mechanisms of their control.

ISFPs learn by experience, and they need hands-on contact in order to know something well. Unlike Extraverted Sensates, however, they don’t require perceptual novelty to stay interested in something. When their judgment is engaged, ISFPs are focused, contained, and nearly inexhaustible. These types are likely to regard their work as a vocation rather than a profession. ISFPs don’t think in terms of objective limits and requirements. They think in terms of values--what’s right in the situation at hand. They lose sight of themselves as objects, rushing where angels fear to tread. They are not attempting to go the extra mile. It’s who they are. ISFPs have a certain resistance to attachment for it’s own sake. ISFPs are most likely to feel bogged down by possessions and material constraint when they’re too dependent on their dominant function. (Lenore Thomson)
JIMMY MCNULTY
ENTPs are aggressive, expansive, and opportunistic in the best sense of the word. They have no doubt about the importance of what they’re doing, and they’re at their best when they feel challenged and have to improvise. They want to be inspired, are rarely content with things as they are, and tend to have many projects going at the same time. Others are excited by, even propelled by, the relentless tide of their drive and enthusiasm. ENTPs are so alert to systematic logic that they often see relationships among elements that no one has ever considered before. Others can experience the ENTP as alternatively seductive, impatient, and indifferent, and such types are not above intimidating people with their mercurial nature of their mind. ENTPs assume that everyone is as strong and self-assertive as they are and as capable of defending their own interests. They may even feel manipulated and exploited by people who need too much from them. (Lenore Thomson)
STRINGER BELL
ESTJs see reality as a kind of puzzle whose pieces must fit together logically if they are to understand the whole picture. They have an incisive understanding of organization and complexity. ESTJs reason conceptually, one step at a time. The problems that absorb them are too complicated to be solved by common sense or intuition. They require the negotiation of structural relationships by way of logic. ESTJs observe facts, draw tentative conclusions, predict what will happen next, then check their predictions against real-life consequences. Anything that can’t be proved with hard evidence is ruled right out. ESTJs think hierarchically. They define their priorities and attend to them, one by one, in descending order of importance. They understand the value of the proper chain of command. They want to know where they stand in the assessment of others, and they want this standing to be deserved. (Lenore Thomson)
AVON BARKSDALE
ESFPs tend to be generous sorts, and they my seem vulnerable, even naive, because they’re inclined to surrender themselves to the moment without restraint. Whatever they’re in, they’re in wholeheartedly. ESFPs may strike people as not taking life seriously enough, not caring enough about the consequences of their actions. In truth, these types are usually ambitious and want to be admired and respected, but they don’t make plans the way Judging types do. They think perceptually, alert to the opportunities life has to offer them. ESFPs rarely ask for anything in return for their involvement. They do, however, have a strong need to feel appreciated, and they want that appreciation demonstrated tangibly. They don’t like unpleasantness that can’t be handled with immediate action. (Lenore Thomson)
LESTER FREAMON
ISTJs are task-oriented and conscientious in their handling of details and standard procedures. ISTJs are fundamentally Introverted Sensates, with a highly subjective, original turn of mind. ISTJs are unparalleled realists. However, they don’t concern themselves with external reality as such. They relate to facts about external reality, and largely by way of the mental constructs determined by Extraverted Thinking: words, numbers, schemes, diagrams, hierarchies, methods, and codes of conduct. The type’s sensations gives ISTJs an extraordinary capacity for detail in areas that strike them as important. Where data and figures are concerned, ISTJs are painstakingly thorough. Their powers of concentration are unequaled--nothing escapes their attention. Privately, ISTJs are usually observing the world with a kind of detached irony. (Lenore Thomson)
BUNK MORLAND
ISTPs need hands-on involvement so they can feel a situation’s impact and gauge the effects of their behaviors on it. Their Ti ultimately trains the ability to improvise. Their improvisation is far from doing “whatever they want.” Their skill is to find a reasoned balance between structure and freedom. ISTPs are utterly present oriented, so they don’t require novel perceptual experiences to stay interested. Once they’re using familiar skills, every situation is new. ISTPs are either “with” a situation or they’re not. If they’re not, they will make no effort to pretend they are. They won’t exhibit initial interest, explain, or apologize for their inattention or lack of compliance. ISTPs may do something they don’t want to do for someone they respect, but they will not fake goodwill in the process. The commitments these types make are based on shared experience, not shared thoughts or feelings, and they have no reason to trust people who haven’t proved themselves in areas they consider important. (Lenore Thomson)
KIMA GREGGS
INTPs relate to the outer world with Extraverted Intuition, so their need for direct experience is not as clear as an ISTP’s. Such types are interested in the logical possibilities of structure: the way form and context interact with and exert change on each other. Thus, they’re mote at home than ISTPs with theoretical reasoning. INTPs do, however, require visual and tactile contact with a system in order to reason properly. An INTP’s feelings are not usually visible in the type’s demeanor. In fact, these types may find it difficult to know what they’re feeling until they experience themselves out of control. Their ability to sort out their emotions and recognize their meaning is not well developed. INTPs can be shy and awkward about affectional connections. At midlife, they may abruptly realize they haven’t given enough thought to issues of marriage, children, or domestic stability. They may not even be certain about they they require from a partner. Their sense of predictability involves matters for impersonal design; the personal realm strikes them as utterly without rational order. (Lenore Thomson)
CEDRIC DANIELS
ENTJs reason conceptually, with deductive and inductive logic. But these types are not content to negotiate structural relationships within a system. ENTJs want to be in charge of a system, to improve it, to realize its functional potential. Such types are not advocates and administrators so much as natural leaders--decisive, charismatic, impelled by the courage of conviction. Their energy and ambition in the service of an idea can put one in mind of ENTPs. But ENTJs don’t share the Perceiver’s holographic visionary perspective. Like all types who use Extraverted Thinking, ENTJs need factual and material predictability for their skills to operate well. They are invariably articulate and aggressively verbal, and they discover quite early in life that the well-chosen phrase is a many-splendored thing: it convinces, dissuades, and wounds as wells as communicates. (Lenore Thomson)
BODIE BROADUS
ESTPs are realists of the first order. The ESTP is galvanized by Introverted Thinking toward situations involving risk, strategy, and serious competition. Introverted Thinking gives ESTPs a talent for evaluating the variables in a crisis situation, and they invariably respond with action. They know far more than they’re able to express about what’s likely to happen and what they can do to prevent or support it. ESTPs are usually charismatic, often charming. ESTPs are drawn to immediate achievement, but they may not care to build the structure on the foundations thus established. Once a situation is in hand, the type tens to lose interest and moves on to the next challenge. It should be emphasize, however, that ESTPs generally have their own code of honor. It may not accord with collective mores and expectations, but it is consistent and fiercely maintained--especially where loyalty to friends is concerned. (Lenore Thomson)

Critical Jam #9: Psalm for the Newly Anointed
Welcome to Critical Jam, J.A. Micheline’s monthly column on criticism.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but: nobody’s in charge.
For newer media especially--games and comics and whatever comes next--there is no established authority, no canon of critical texts that guides the consumer, the critic, the creator. There’s nothing enshrining us, nothing empowering us. No true criticism; a legitimation crisis.
This is freeing in some aspects, but frustrating in others. In her January Crown on the Ground column, critic Emma Houxbois touches upon the transience in comics criticism in particular, though her points are applicable to the present states of criticism elsewhere:
“One of the truest and most fundamental realities of comics criticism is that it’s a transient field with a very short life cycle. People come into it with little to no formal training because there’s little to none available and they have a crack at it until they move onto something more fruitful or diminishing returns catch up with them. As a result there’s no established and easily accessible canon, there’s little in the way of bodies of work to build from and refine the field, especially since the waves of consolidation and site shutdowns have wiped out massive amounts of it.”
In other words--with nothing shoring us up, we are vulnerable, scattered, and easily erased. Though some handful of us are protected by the pillars of major publications, the vast majority exist on social media, in the comments sections, and websites that fall just as soon as they rise. With a few exceptions, none are household names and none (individually) wield the power to make or break their subjects. This instability, the absence of permanence reflected both in where criticism can be found as well as its shifting flagbearers, has a great deal to do with why people like to say that modern criticism is dead, bad, or somewhere in between.
You can pin it to the rise of the digital age, certainly. The transition from analog to digital has meant that years of work can vanish with the closing of a site, with the click of a button. And in turn, anyone with access to the Internet can become a critic--present company included. Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr--all of them allow for greater access than ever before. Criticism has ceased to become (at least, entirely) the province of the elite and has expanded to a much more grassroots endeavor.
“Because The Internet” is an all right answer, but I think postmodernism--a concept that precedes the Internet by a longshot--is a slightly better fit. It’s a movement, literary, artistic, and otherwise, specifically concerned with the destruction of gods and masters in favor for contingent truths and individual narratives. (I’ve written a light discussion of postmodernism through comics here.) I favor it for many reasons, up to and including its revolutionary potential, but I hold it in tension with its force for destruction. The expansion and impermanence of criticism, while opening the doors to many, also makes it difficult for the lot of us to eat. Because anyone could potentially do the work we do, the labor becomes cheap and many of us go unpaid, regardless of the quality of our material.
Quality is hard to pin down too, under a postmodernist regime. Everything is subjective--no gods and no masters, remember?--so who is to say really, who is a good critic or a bad one. Greater access should lead to a more meritocratic system of rewards, but because there is no uniform set of criteria, the infrastructure inevitably collapses upon itself. The arbitrary rubric assigns value, but can only do so if its arbitrariness is allowed unjust sovereignty. We random users of the Internet are finally permitted the title of critic, but now the title means nothing at all, and so, we frequently work for free. Tricky. Frustrating. A double edged sword. In eroding the canonic power of the elite critic, we erode ourselves. Our crowded presence and eagerness to welcome everyone devalues the field.
So the death of criticism is frequently touted because we are no longer kingmakers or heartbreakers. There was a time--or so they say--that a restaurant, a play, a ballet, a film, would live or die by the word of an individual critic. Back then, criticism was Good--which is as much a designation of quality as it was a designation of power. After all, critics of the modernist tradition and style of these kingmakers still exist and still win Pulitzers for their efforts, but the impact of a single critic’s word, even of the Pulitzer-winning variety, has diminished over time. These days, a critic can write beautiful, carefully considered prose in discussion of their subject and be met with some variety of “Yeah? Well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man” in the comments section.
Which, when all is said and done, is irritatingly just.
It is just my opinion and that it exists in such a way that it can be dismissed soundly in favor of someone else’s is an annoyingly just consequence of destroying everyone’s sense of authority. This monstrosity of collapsed power which leaves many of us working for free is the consequence of inviting everyone to the party, and for newer media, doing so before a canon could establish itself in the background.
Part of the problem is that the old ways are not entirely dead. Modern structures, specifically, power structures still exist and therefore still benefit from and exploit the hierarchy. As strong as grassroots efforts have become, criticism backed by established outlets holds more weight than criticism elsewhere. The would-be meritocratic rise of quality criticism is hampered not just by an inability to judge quality objectively, but also the same old devaluing problems we had during modernist times--that one’s criticism is only as good as where it appears and is only financially compensated when it appears in those forums. In other words--you’re not Good until you’ve been externally validated as Good, usually in the form of someone thinking you’re Good enough to compensate with capital.
It’s a bit of a chicken-and-egg game: is the criticism presumed Good because the critic was paid well for it, or was the critic paid well because the criticism was Good? Or is it Good because it is exclusive, because not everyone is chosen to write for particular publications, so surely the choice was based on merit. “She must know what she’s doing if she writes for The Guardian,” and so on.
I’m not sure what comes next, what comes after this. We’re trapped in a righteous hell of our own making, because we don’t have the political strength to see ourselves paid fairly and because acquiring the political strength would turn us into the systemic monsters we seek to topple.
I don’t know what comes next, but, in the end, I think everyone starts to look for God.
For me, part of Seeing with eyes unclouded is continually reckoning with my own irrelevance, but at the same time--it’s tiring to have no one in charge, tiring to make every evaluative decision for oneself, tiring to wade through a sea of information without a single, certain guide for what is Absolutely Good or Absolutely Bad. It’s exhausting to permit such uncertainty. And so, we take shortcuts, we look for some form of God to pass us The Word so we don’t have to burden ourselves. It’s the sensible thing to do if we are tired, if our attempts to strike out on our own have burned us, if the world has been proven to be cold without Him, without some kind of authority on whose criticism is Good.
Maybe what’s next is a return to modernism, a retreat to structural certainty. Maybe the kingmakers will rise again. Maybe criticism will be Good once more.
But probably not. Postmodernism is here to stay and its embracing of fractionation is such that it cannot be defeated. The Internet doesn’t seem to be going anywhere either. So, as I find myself asking so often in this column: what’s to do?
We cannot and should not return to the old ways of denying access to the many, but we can all collectively take this access and make it something great. My solution, generally, has been to behave as though I possess the authority of a kingmaking critic, while still holding firmly to the reality of my complete and utter unimportance. I’ve decided to be my own god.
That most of us remain uncompensated is something that remains, largely, out of our control, but the way we conduct ourselves always is. The endpoint of this hierarchical deconstruction is the formation of us as new, smaller gods rather than erasing godhood entirely. If we, individually, are the newly anointed, then we must act with the same discretion, honor, and reverence as we would have expected from the old ones. We must treat our work and the work of others with the same respect as we would any old classics, while still realizing that it’s just our opinion.
It’s artifice, certainly, but it’s an artifice that improves us--which is rather the function of god to begin with. If there’s nobody in charge, nobody on the throne, nobody to worship--it may very well be that you’re the only one left.
Act accordingly.

Self-powered alarm fights forest fires, monitors environment
Smokey the Bear says that only you can prevent wildfires, but what if Smokey had a high-tech backup? In a new study, a team of Michigan State University scientists designed and fabricated a remote forest fire detection and alarm system powered by nothing but the movement of the trees in the wind.
As detailed in the journal Advanced Functional Materials, the device, known as MC-TENG -- short for multilayered cylindrical triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) -- generates electrical power by harvesting energy from the sporadic movement of the tree branches from which it hangs.
"As far as we know, this is the first demonstration of such a novel MC-TENG as a forest fire detection system," said lead author Changyong Cao, who directs the Laboratory of Soft Machines and Electronics in MSU's School of Packaging and is an assistant professor in the Packaging School and Departments of Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
"The self-powered sensing system could continuously monitor the fire and environmental conditions without requiring maintenance after deployment," he said.
For Cao and his team, the tragic forest fires in recent years across the American West, Brazil and Australia were driving forces behind this new technology. Cao believes that early and quick response to forest fires will make the task of extinguishing them easier, significantly reducing the damage and loss of property and life.
Traditional forest fire detection methods include satellite monitoring, ground patrols, watch towers, among others, which have high labor and financial costs in return for low efficiency.
Current remote sensor technologies are becoming more common, but primarily rely on battery technology for power.
"Although solar cells have been widely used for portable electronics or self-powered systems, it is challenging to install these in a forest because of the shading or covering of lush foliage," said Yaokun Pang, co-author and postdoc associate at Cao's lab.
TENG technology converts external mechanical energy -- such as the movement of a tree branch -- into electricity by way of the triboelectric effect, a phenomenon where certain materials become electrically charged after they separate from a second material with which they were previously in contact.
The simplest version of the TENG device consists of two cylindrical sleeves of unique material that fit within one another. The core sleeve is anchored from above while the bottom sleeve is free to slide up and down and move side to side, constrained only by an elastic connective band or spring. As the two sleeves move out of sync, the intermittent loss of contact generates electricity. The MC-TENG are equipped with several hierarchical triboelectric layers, increasing the electrical output.
The MC-TENG stores its sporadically generated electrical current in a carbon-nanotube-based micro supercapacitor. The researchers selected this technology for its rapid charge and discharge times, allowing the device to adequately charge with only short but sustained gusts of wind.
"At a very low vibration frequency, the MC-TENG can efficiently generate electricity to charge the attached supercapacitor in less than three minutes," Cao said.
The researchers outfitted the initial prototype with both carbon monoxide (CO) and temperature sensors. The addition of a temperature sensor was intended to reduce the likelihood of a false positive carbon dioxide reading.

Swaying trees could power new forest fire alarm
A remote forest fire detection and alarm system gets power from the movement of the trees in the wind, researchers report.
The device, known as MC-TENG—short for multilayered cylindrical triboelectric nanogenerator—generates electrical power by harvesting energy from the sporadic movement of the tree branches from which it hangs.
“As far as we know, this is the first demonstration of such a novel MC-TENG as a forest fire detection system,” says lead author Changyong Cao, who directs the Laboratory of Soft Machines and Electronics in Michigan State University’s School of Packaging.
“The self-powered sensing system could continuously monitor the fire and environmental conditions without requiring maintenance after deployment,” he says.
A warning system for forest fires
For Cao and his team, the tragic forest fires in recent years across the American West, Brazil, and Australia were driving forces behind this new technology. Cao believes that early and quick response to forest fires will make the task of extinguishing them easier, significantly reducing the damage and loss of property and life.
Traditional forest fire detection methods include satellite monitoring, ground patrols, and watch towers, among others, which have high labor and financial costs in return for low efficiency.
Current remote sensor technologies are becoming more common, but primarily rely on battery technology for power.
“Although solar cells have been widely used for portable electronics or self-powered systems, it is challenging to install these in a forest because of the shading or covering of lush foliage,” says coauthor Yaokun Pang, a postdoc associate at Cao’s lab.
How does it work?
TENG technology converts external mechanical energy—such as the movement of a tree branch—into electricity by way of the triboelectric effect, a phenomenon where certain materials become electrically charged after they separate from a second material with which they were previously in contact.
“At a very low vibration frequency, the MC-TENG can efficiently generate electricity to charge the attached supercapacitor in less than three minutes,” Cao says.
The researchers outfitted the initial prototype with both carbon monoxide and temperature sensors. The addition of a temperature sensor was intended to reduce the likelihood of a false positive carbon dioxide reading.
Cao hopes the team will be able to field test a production device to monitor forest environmental conditions and test scenarios, making use of materials that mimic a real fire. The team also aims to add additional functionality, allowing the device to be adapted for the weather and environmental conditions where it is deployed.
The research appears in Advanced Functional Materials.
The US Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, American Society for Nondestructive Testing Faculty Grant Program, and Michigan State funded the research.

Back to the Future
Strategic value colours the omnidirectional geography of FDI, a breakaway from conventional theory that once posited instead the significance of comparative advantage, it is this contrarianism consequent on MNCs investing abroad which mimics the calculus that these rent-seeking firms use to pinpoint areas most auspicious and hospitable for leveraging variables among which proximity to new markets, their size, costs, increasing returns to scale, or agglomeration effects weigh upon when or if to mobilize production factors. As economic convergence intensifies, in essence the parity of wealth as measured by GDP per capita, national income, annual rates of growth, balance of payments, etc., the utility of transnational firms as a function of the state’s world market share in industries or gross world product more generally oscillates towards the clout they may use to influence the global economy if so willed. When advanced capitalist societies are coequals, world income grows, and buoyancy of catch-up industrialization from emerging markets converges with higher standards of living, comparative advantages or factor endowments matter less, therefore the index of economic power will instead colonize the value chains of transnational firms which must ferret out whatever modicum of competitive advantage there still exists in spite of the burgeoning widespread homogeneity between competing countries.
As economies converge, in terms of relative size, or factor endowments, transnational displaces national production, microeconomic planning must then acclimate to macroeconomic conditions according to this reality conceived by Markusen and Venables (1998) which corroborates how in the US between 1980 and 2000 investment partook in the largest share of economic activity (Markusen 1998:753), or why in this time competitive advantage became the superlative instead of comparative advantage, or why instead of licensing transnational firms in search of market power manifest a penchant to internalize markets by extirpation of indigenous firms that substitutes offshoring for exports. The spate of FDI thereupon marked the obsolescence of traditional trade theory, irrevocable change on flow, composition, and geography in value chains at the tail-end of the twentieth century typified how competition pivoted on investments rather than volumes of finished products exported from parent countries. In the new millennium this secular trend, reported by UNCTAD (2000:153), accounted for two-thirds of international trade, by 2004 the value of sales between foreign subsidiaries represented $18tn versus $11tn of global exports and imports that year, compared with 1982 when sales of these affiliates valued at only $2.8tn (UNCTAD 2005:14). The tranformative difference boasts a long pedigree.
Corporatism by the 1980s dominated trade policy, enthused with ratcheting up the global spread of multinationals, multilateral and regional negotiations were envisaged to underwrite the endogenous decisions related to equity capital these firms would actualize for the sake of internationalizing value chains such that FDI shortly thereafter outgrew interstate exchanges of goods and services (Markusen & Venables 1998:184). The new salience entrusted in the viability with which multinationals informed economic statecraft evoked a reality fitted for the emergence of ‘new trade theory’ that modelled markets as imperfectly competitive and thus it was becoming for protectionist policies to be rethought anew. The ascendency of multinationals, a testament to atomized production, conduced to severe competition between parent firms of different nationalities, the riposte to which the US exploited its hierarchical rank in the global economy by introducing further market access and newly codifying protectionism within the multilateral trading system. From the theory’s clinical positivism, among whose first patriarchs included Dixit and Norman (1980), Lancaster (1980), Krugman (1979), Helpman (1981), and Ethier (1982), its normative application for practical purposes came to proffer the new bent of neo-mercantilism in trade diplomacy, and no longer was it to be based on comparative advantage but on transnational firms seeking to increase returns to scale.
The acquisition of foreign assets by parent firms and attendant establishment of oligopolies in their wake, changing the dynamics of trade patterns, makes market structures acquiescent to the vast swaths of product lines they produce whose outcome facilitates external economies of scale since within industries modernity allows for the cross-fertilization of innovation to inspire or reverse engineer incumbent technology so that product life cycles acutely shorten in virtue of how new benchmarks are habitually fixed by competitors. From the reduction of marginal production costs, a corollary to how previously tested capital goods and intermediaries telescopes the time continuum across which the value chain operates, do transnational firms churn out more capital investment towards obtainment of further assets. The result fundamentally orients multilateral trade, or how US emissaries to the GATT and later WTO propound the desiderata of national parent firms, their positions harken to the mercantilist logic that exports and imports are beneficial and deleterious respectively, in doing so they liberalize global markets for the good of transnational capital. Indeed, as Mancur Olsen (1965) noted, in the main the predominant beneficiaries and architects of trade policy are producers whose interests are held with deeper esteem than those of consumers.
To begin from the premise that trade negotiations are divorced from abstractions apolitically modelled by economists is to understand how markets are imperfect in that housed within each industry an oligopoly dissuades new entrants into its commercial enterprise. Herein lies an unforeseen paradox, free trade policies beset these oligopolistic structures with competition, firms so monolithic in scale are less averse to risk yet nevertheless fear too much of it, but a giant knocking down castle doors for plunder has little to worry if after each piecemeal excursion, as is the parable by which successive negotiations open markets incrementally, he enriches and nourishes himself well enough to ward off resistance until his next foray. Systematic protectionism of this kind, the essence of new trade theory, exposes multinationals in gradations to competition with the caveat that neither are they gluttons for it, the political economy dynamics of this gradualism renders palatable liberalization for export-oriented interests and the political support for it according to Ethier (2004, 2007).

How to switch from Mac to PC, Part 1: What's driving me to do it
After almost two decades as a Mac user, I’m switching to a Home windows Computer—and I’m bringing you alongside for the experience.
On this series, my non-public journey from Mac to Computer can be your manual to the fundamentals of venturing forth from Apple’s walled garden to the considerable, teeming, and once in a while the perplexing world of Home windows 10 computer systems. The subjects I’m masking will include:
The way to pick out a laptop from hundreds of opportunities What software program to apply in location of Mac OS-only favorites How your iPhone, iPad, and the rest of Apple’s surroundings can nonetheless fit in Welcome to the great international of Laptop gaming What it’s like in Computerland, and whether I’d return to the Mac Desperate instances
Melancholy drove me to interchange from a Mac to a Computer. I’ve used Apple computers in view that college, beginning with a boxy, wee Apple Mac Traditional II in a computer lab. It had a low decision monochrome display. And a floppy pressure. Quickly I bought a used PowerBook 100. From then on, I was committed, gradually working my way thru PowerBooks, iBooks, MacBooks, a MacBook Air and MacBook Execs.
Fast-ahead to now: I’ve come to rely closely on Apple-one of a kind software program that syncs records with my iPad Pro, iPhone SE and my contemporary laptop—a thirteen-inch 2015 MacBook Pro Retina with 8GB of RAM, a 2.9GHz Intel Middle i5 processor, and a 512GB SSD. My 400-film and eleven,000-media collection lives in iTunes. I’m in deep. Why I’m bailing on Macs
My pork with Apple is the shortage of polish I’ve been seeing in the software program over the last few years (don’t get me commenced at the nation of iTunes), and the amount of hassle I’ve had for my part with the hardware considering the fact that making an investment $2,seven-hundred for my cutting-edge laptop. My workflow has been plagued by means of graphical system defects, slowdowns, and coffee refusal on the part of my ports to recognize external garage media. At times, my MacBook Pro has outright refused to boot. Heck, I couldn’t get it to layout an SD card if my life relied on it. Reinstalling MacOS has executed nothing to kind out those problems, nor has restored my gadget from a Time Gadget backup.
Having paid greater for AppleCare, I’ve taken in my MacBook Seasoned several times to be serviced. Some months in the past, an Apple tech changed the whole backside 1/2 of my computer with a brand new one—it values less than searching down an trouble with the pics good judgment board, I used to be told. And yet, the aspect nevertheless refuses to fulfill Apple’s promise of ‘it just works.’
A way to Recover from Invalid B-Tree Node Size Mac OS X Error
A Mac OS X-based totally tough disk is split into walls, each of various characteristics. There are 4 primary things contained in each of the partitions, they are files, file threads, directories and listing threads. Catalog documents are used by the Mac OS to outline those basic document files. every Catalog document is positioned within the B-tree formation. Consequently, in case you need to find a document the device will search the complete B-tree formation.
There are, however, instances in which the tree shape or the nodes go through some troubles that require formatting the extent. Formatting the whole structure manner the loss of statistics viz. documents, directories and others, this calls for making a backup before reformatting. however, if a user doesn’t make any again up and desires to get better information misplaced due to a B-tree shape failure, then Mac recuperation solutions would come inaccessible.
Generally, users will encounter a Mistakes with Mac volumes that announce “invalid B-tree node Size”. This error is determined below hierarchical record device primarily based volumes. You encounter this B-tree node Size Blunders while verifying the integrity of the documents and directories the usage of Disk application. those varieties of errors are encountered if the node Size of the B-tree isn’t accurate. Invalid node sizes of the B-tree is one of the essential troubles that one faces in a Mac OS, however, there are obvious ways to restoration invalid b-tree node Size Error through the use of a green 1/3 celebration Mac facts recovery software program.
To remedy the issue of B-tree node Length issues, one can locate answers that encompass:
Disk application isn’t always an efficient utility software because it is not able to eliminate the error. you can run fsck. It must be used in an unmarried mode. There is third celebration disk restore programs, i.E. REMO Mac recover. these are facts healing and repair answers that subsequently restore the invalid b-tree node Size mac os x Mistakes. one of the other ways is to make a lower backup of all the different portions of data out of your Mac and perform a reinstallation after which you can run Mac facts recuperation solution for efficient B-tree node repairing.
A way to Cast off Snapchat Exceptional Pals
As one of the top video and image sharing apps to be had, Snapchat’s recent information launch pronounced over 500 million snaps sent and acquired on a daily foundation. one of the most popular functions of Snapchat is the Excellent Pal listing, that’s both hated and cherished equally. Users experience this feature because of its smooth availability of changing snaps with oldsters you often snap with, and it’s miles equally hated as it suggests the First-class Pals listing for your profile — that means everyone can see it.
The Snapchat Pleasant Buddies list Defined
Snapchat First-rate Buddies, or your “pinnacle listing” as they’re recognized informally, are three individuals you maximum frequently share snaps with. The listing gets updated each week, that means that in case you snap human beings greater frequently at some point of the week, they’ll show up on your First-rate Pals list. You could see this listing while you get prepared to ship a brand new snap, as it is proven on top of the contacts listing to get clean get right of entry to it. It could be seen by means of all and sundry who has you of their contacts, and it is displayed on your profile publicly.
A way to Convey Up Your Contacts’ Best Buddies
To see the Satisfactory Pals of all your contacts, certainly, use the following technique.
· Scroll all the way down to the name or username of the Pal you need to understand approximately
· This brings up their profile, in which You can see their username and Pal score.
· There, you will see lists of these Customers your Pal snaps with most customarily.
· You may circulate your number of Satisfactory Friends from 3 to 5 to 7 in the settings pane.
Understand that the First-class Friends algorithm works in the sort of way that if someone sends you snaps often, however you just respond a few times, that man or woman may be in your Excellent Buddies listing simply due to the fact the rating receives better whenever she sends snaps. Likewise, in case you often send a snap to someone extra regularly than other human beings do, they will become to your listing.
The Advantages of a Transfer Mode Strength Supply
A Switchmode Power Deliver works on the principle of superior performance. The advantages of the Switch mode is its lighter weight and decreased length. Saving weight and reducing length is essential to lower delivery prices when they are dispensed enhancing.
The Transfer Mode Energy is designed to be a greater efficient Unit going for walks lots cooler and attracts much less modern-day that is useful all round.
A Transfer-mode Strength Supply creates DC from the AC mains Strength the use of transistor switches and other components. As we recognize from experience of older Strength adapters, amps of high Electricity have a tendency to be quite heavy. One of the predominant factors within the elevated weight is the iron in the transformer.
Older designed transformers needed to be big to keep away from saturation on the 50hz or 60hz frequency of the AC Supply. That difficulty resulted in the bad performance at that decrease frequency range.
The Transfer mode Power Supply amplifier wastes little or no Power within the form of heat. Maximum of the incoming AC Strength is converted to amplifier output Strength.
How does that happen? Well, recall from Ohm’s Law that voltage instances modern equals Energy. whilst the voltage or contemporary in a tool is zero, so is the Energy.
The switching or “cutting” transistors produce no modern whilst they’re switched off, and bring no voltage while switched on, in order that they generate little or no Energy as warmness. This consequences in a rather green Strength Supply.
Therefore we have learned that the Switch mode Electricity adapter is the primary choice for Most producers. There’s but one disadvantage for the quiet person. The Transfer mode Power works on greater complicated circuitry. If they fail there is not tons likelihood of restore due to the specialized nature and costs. Most satisfactory made PSU’s are very dependable and might ultimate for years so a small downside for an advanced product.
Thanks to switching Electricity substances, we can get easy green Electricity for our Digital items in a mild and correctly designed package deal.

Maslow on My Mind: How Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Affects Business and Society
Introduction: Maslow in the Big Apple
Abraham Maslow was born in New York in 1908 to poor, uneducated Russian immigrants. He was the oldest of seven children, and therefore pushed by his parents to succeed in education where they had not. Originally studying to be a lawyer, he found it to be of little interest and eventually shifted over to psychology where he excelled. Maslow went on to receive his PhD in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin, under the tutelage of Harry Harlow, famous for experimentation with rhesus monkeys and attachment behavior. After some time he returned to New York and began studying human sexuality. In addition to this study, during the years of teaching, he had the opportunity to meet many well-respected psychologists which further helped to shape his thoughts on the human needs. The final event which led Maslow to move in the humanistic direction came from the study of the development of the concept of “self-actualization”. It was this study that led Maslow to develop his famous Hierarchy of Needs Theory.[1]
Food for thought: What humans really need
Until Maslow began to develop his theories, most studies on human nature focused on biology, achievement or power to explain the forces that drive us.
Maslow postulated that there were five levels of basic needs that every human attempts to attain: Externally-Satisfied Needs (basic needs that every individual must satisfy before they can progress).
1. Physiological – I’m hungry.
2. Safety – I’m scared.
Internally-Satisfied Needs (needs leading to enlightenment and understanding.
3. Social – I’m lonely.
4. Esteem – I can’t.
5. Self Actualization – I can!
In the 1970s, Maslow further split this hierarchy up into a total of eight levels:[2]
1) Physiological: hunger, thirst, bodily comforts, etc.;
2) Safety/security: out of danger;
3) Belonging and Love: affiliate with others, be accepted; and
4) Esteem: to achieve, be competent, gain approval and recognition.
5) Cognitive: to know, to understand, and explore; (new)
6) Aesthetic: symmetry, order, and beauty; (new)
7) Self-actualization: to find self-fulfillment and realize one’s potential; and
8) Self-transcendence: to connect to something beyond the ego or to help others find self-fulfillment and realize their potential. (new) (This concept is relatively new and many authors such as Dr. Stephen covey express similar views.)[3]
Another way to look at the Needs is to break it into “D-Needs” (Deficiency) and “B-Needs” (Being). Maslow believed that the deficiency needs, once satisfied ceased to be a driving force for the individual, and they were then free to move upward to developing themselves.
If we follow the traditional hierarchical form, we can see that each need forms the basis of the next need above it in the pyramid. Without these previous foundations, Maslow believed that it is impossible to move on to the next stage in the hierarchy.[4]
In spite of the fact that it is very well-known and intrinsically comforting, there seems to be little hard evidence that the theory actually applies to people in general. Even Maslow admitted to this.[5]
A learning experience
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs has had a dramatic influence on the field of education. Traditional beliefs regarding educational methodology have shifted to a more humanistic approach, with the focus on meeting the students’ basic needs in order to assist them to progress.
The most important goal in education is to learn, followed by developing an understanding of the material to retain it, and apply it in life. In order to do this, the students need to be motivated enough to work hard to achieve this goal. Without motivation to learn it is unlikely that the education will succeed to the extent that it is intended.
In order to maximize this motivational desire, the educators need to attend to the needs of the student. By understanding Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, teachers can work toward realizing the basic needs that develop the foundation for higher learning, or actualization.
Here is an example of how the school can meet the basic needs of the students:
If the school understands that in order to function at school, students need the basic physiological needs satisfied before they can absorb their studies, they may consider providing lunches if a great deal of the students do not have their own. This would then propel the learners to the next level. By fostering a trusting, safe environment, with a classroom social network, and providing praise in the form of positive reinforcement from the teachers, the students will be able to focus on their learning.[6]
A real example that has come up near the end of the 20th century with respect to this is the problems that have arisen due to the beliefs on “special education”. During the 70s and 80s when where the traditional beliefs of segregating children with special needs (physical, intellectual, or emotional) was employed in the school system anomalies arose that called into question these beliefs. It was believed that by placing these students in separate learning atmospheres they would be able to learn at a pace more appropriate to their abilities, receive special attention and eventually progress through the system to receive the same education at the end of the program. As it turns out, this did not happen and the children’s learning was hampered.[7]
Managing expectations
Focusing on such human needs for successful motivation can very easily be ported over to the business world and applied in the field of Management. In fact, Maslow himself became fascinated with the field of management and attempted to explain the ability of good managers to motivate their employees using a solid understanding of the Hierarch of Needs. He even went so far as to regularly visit a high-tech company in California to study the management practices in the 1960s. Maslow discovered that managers who treat their subordinates with trust and respect created an environment that promoted a better work situation and improved productivity.
Peter Drucker, the famous management guru has said that “Maslow’s contribution to management was a big one. He pointed out hat you have to have different personnel policies for different people in different situations for them to be truly effective.”[8]
Why ‘Y’?
Theories X and Y, as developed by Douglas McGregor fit very nicely into the Needs Theory. If humans are intrinsically searching for something to help propel them to the next level, and have an internal desire to progress, and give back to society, as is believed by the followers of “Theory Y”, then it goes to reason that the humanistic approach, as laid out by Maslow would assist these individuals in reaching their goals. If we believe that human nature responds best to a positive, nurturing atmosphere, then managers that hold the following beliefs with respect to their staff should be able to raise them up higher in an attempt to improve productivity, and the individual goals of the worker:
1. Employees view work as natural.
2. Commitment to goals leads to self-direction and self-control.
3. People will look for situations where they can receive accountability for their work.
4. Decision-making on various levels can be spread among the company and not be the sole responsibility of upper management.[9]
What’s ‘Humanism’ got to do, got to do with it?
Humanism is the “third force” in psychology, following the traditional studies of behaviorism and psychoanalysis. Maslow, Carl Rogers, Rolly May and many others helped to advance this way of looking at the human condition.
Humanism has a long history going back to the times of the Greek philosophers of the 6th century BC. It has come forward in time and developed into three broad categories: religious, secular, educational humanism. When people discuss “humanism” they generally mean the understanding of secular humanism. “Humanism is a broad category of active ethical philosophies that affirm the dignity and worth of all people, based on the ability to determine right and wrong by appeal to universal human qualities— particularly rationality, common history, experience, and belief. Humanism is a component of a variety of more specific philosophical systems, and is also incorporated into some religious schools of thought.
Humanism entails a commitment to the search for truth and morality through human means in support of human interests. In focusing on the capacity for self-determination, humanism rejects transcendental justifications, such as a dependence on faith, the supernatural or divinely revealed texts. Humanists endorse universal morality based on the commonality of human nature, suggesting that solutions to our social and cultural problems cannot be parochial.”[10]
Humanists generally believe the following:[11]
1. Humanism is a philosophy focused upon human means for comprehending reality. Humanists make no claims to possess or have access to supposed transcendent knowledge.
2. Humanism is a philosophy of reason and science in the pursuit of knowledge. Therefore, when it comes to the question of the most valid means for acquiring knowledge of the world, Humanists reject arbitrary faith, authority, revelation, and altered states of consciousness.
3. Humanism is a philosophy of imagination. Humanists recognize that intuitive feelings, hunches, speculation, flashes of inspiration, emotion, altered states of consciousness, and even religious experience, while not valid means to acquire knowledge, remain useful sources of ideas that can lead us to new ways of looking at the world. These ideas, after they have been assessed rationally for their usefulness, can then be put to work, often as alternate approaches for solving problems.
4. Humanism is a philosophy for the here and now. Humanists regard human values as making sense only in the context of human life rather than in the promise of a supposed life after death.
5. Humanism is a philosophy of compassion. Humanist ethics is solely concerned with meeting human needs and answering human problems–for both the individual and society–and devotes no attention to the satisfaction of the desires of supposed theological entities.
6. Humanism is a realistic philosophy. Humanists recognize the existence of moral dilemmas and the need for careful consideration of immediate and future consequences in moral decision making.
7. Humanism is in tune with the science of today. Humanists therefore recognize that we live in a natural universe of great size and age that we evolved on this planet over a long period of time, that there is no compelling evidence for a separable “soul,” and that human beings have certain built-in needs that effectively form the basis for any human-oriented value system.
8. Humanism is in tune with today’s enlightened social thought. Humanists are committed to civil liberties, human rights, church-state separation, the extension of participatory democracy not only in government but in the workplace and education, an expansion of global consciousness and exchange of products and ideas internationally, and an open-ended approach to solving social problems, an approach that allows for the testing of new alternatives.
9. Humanism is in tune with new technological developments. Humanists are willing to take part in emerging scientific and technological discoveries in order to exercise their moral influence on these revolutions as they come about, especially in the interest of protecting the environment.
10. Humanism is, in sum, a philosophy for those in love with life. Humanists take responsibility for their own lives and relish the adventure of being part of new discoveries, seeking new knowledge, exploring new options. Instead of finding solace in prefabricated answers to the great questions of life, Humanists enjoy the open-endedness of a quest and the freedom of discovery that this entails.
What is holding us back?
If reaching the summit of the mountain of self-actualization were easy, everyone would be enlightened, happy, hard-working, creative, and wealthy. We would all strive to take responsibility for our actions, and attempt to improve the situation around us by developing new and unique ideas. Unfortunately, this is not happening. What is holding us back from reaching our “fully functional, healthy personality”?
I concur with Maslow that society and the education system are preventing individuals from reaching their full potential. Here is what Maslow has to say on the matter:
“The state of being without a system of values is psychopathogenic, we are learning. The human being needs a framework of values, a philosophy of life, a religion or religion-surrogate to live by and understand by, in about the same sense he needs sunlight, calcium or love. This I have called the “cognitive need to understand.” The value- illnesses which result from valuelessness are called variously anhedonia, anomie, apathy, amorality, hopelessness, cynicism, etc., and can become somatic illness as well. Historically, we are in a value interregnum in which all externally given value systems have proven failures (political, economic, religious, etc.) e.g., nothing is worth dying for. What man needs but doesn’t have, he seeks for unceasingly, and he becomes dangerously ready to jump at any hope, good or bad. The cure for this disease is obvious. We need a validated, usable system of human values that we can believe in and devote ourselves to (be willing to die for), because they are true rather than because we are exhorted to “believe and have faith.” Such an empirically based Weltanschauung seems now to be a real possibility, at least in theoretical outline.” [12]
If society is not instilling the proper values into the youth of today, they are unable to develop a healthy outlook on life. This will hamper their journey to self-actualization. The education system is also currently not providing the proper morals, and positive, nurturing environment for students in order for them to grow. The schools need to focus on the areas of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs that are deficient in the student body, nurture them, and help their students to excel in ways that go deeper than just good grades.
Summary: Change Your Socks, Change Your Attitude
In the contemporary business world, a product-centered business style is no longer successful. Companies must now, more than ever before, develop a consumer-centric approach to business. The market is demassifying, and this means that individual needs must be met.
In order for the education system to produce individuals that can reach the peak of Maslow’s pyramid, the schools should also take a similar approach and rather than focus on the product (education), they should instead focus on meeting the needs of the client (student). This will by no means be an easy task for it requires a tremendous amount of time and energy on the part of the supplier (schools), but the end results will produce a much more satisfied customer who is able to benefit from the interaction.
Maslow lists 10 points that educators and teachers ought to consider in order to change their style so as to move toward the self-actualization of the individual. A summary of these points can be found below:
1. Be true to yourself.
2. Do not be bound by your culture.
3. Discover your calling.
4. Life is precious.
5. Do not judge people.
6. See to the satisfaction of basic needs.
7. Take time to smell the roses.
8. Learn self-control.
9. Don’t sweat the little things.
10. Make the right decisions.
These can and should be applied to all aspects of life, from your private time, through education and even in the work environment in order to work toward improving yourself and society.
