I probably said it before but the biggest thing holding me back from developing my oc world is I don’t know how to worldbuild. My writing style is “write what feels right” but if I do that there’ll be inconsistencies and things that don’t make sense. But traditional worldbuilding tools that I see online like “what are things made out of” and well I don’t know how to tell you that I don’t think of things like that I think extremely literally. I see a blanket and think it’s made out of soft not that it’s made out of polyester. My brain both combines fantasy and current modern society in my fantasy realm but I don’t think phones should exist in it, but one of my ocs is a science experiment. Did computers just never get made??
But there’s magic. What’s the magic system? If I think about it too hard it bores me the answer is “it’s magic” but that feels cheap. What even is a personality? I know their personality but I can’t describe it. But you have to describe a personality in a story because that’s just how charactering works. I can’t just wing it, there has to be structure of some sort. But I don’t want to think about cars because that requires thinking about something I have no knowledge or care into. And lands?? I barely register I live on planet earth I have to make up locations??? No I don’t have OCD what are you talking about

You ever hear that old chestnut about how most people neglect the part of the story of Icarus where he also had to avoid flying too low, lest the spray of the sea soak his feathers and cause him to fall and drown? You ever think about how different the world would be if Icarus died that way instead? If the idiom was to Fly To Close To The Sea? A warning against playing it far too safe, about not stretching your wings and soaring properly? You ever think about how Icarus died because he was happy?

lovely character. i need him to finally break down sobbing clutching his chest like it'll stop the pain crumpling to the floor begging God to either help him or let him die

Sometimes you need to read something twice to get it. You might need to watch a movie three times to understand it. You might have to have that album on repeat for a week until the lyrics make any sense. You're allowed to engage with it and can keep engaging with it until it means something to you. People will see a painting at a museum and laugh about not getting what the big deal is but like you can come back, you can see it at another time, and maybe that next time it'll be different for you. I'm of the belief the "media literacy crisis" would solve itself if more people just sat down and did it again. Watched, read, played, listened, etc like I don't think people are getting more ignorant necessarily I just think we're not glorifying personally replaying things nearly as much as we should be.

so last year during a period of intense suicidal depression i made this necklace that i always wear, right, and the thing is it's genuinely brought me a lot of comfort and relief and i've developed a strong sentimental attachment to it, to the point that i can inarguably state that it's had a net positive effect on my mental wellbeing. however i did now just have to stop to almost throw up laughing because i realised that i've succumbed to the amulet.

“here’s what we know about the uhc shooter”
WRONG! He is a suspect and we should treat him as such. He should be treated as innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent. He’s a person of interest not the killer. I don’t care what the media or authorities are saying, he’s a human being who deserves a fair trial and deserves to be treated as innocent until proven otherwise.

i wish i could point at my mom and be like ah yes thats the tool that gave me social anxiety but comically my parents were actually fairly chill. like i was never threatened with punishment but kid me decided to construct my own rules and then lived in constant fear of breaking them. like girl at least it makes sense when the catholics get haunted by guilt. what was my excuse.

please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!
