Ran to the library this morning to exchange materials and early-vote in the municipal election. Failed at voting because for some reason they didn't open it up until 11am this time and I had to leave because rain was coming. Ended up caught in the rain on the walk home anyway, but it was okay because I found these:

Three cells of Swiss chard that apparently some gardener didn't want/have room for (plus I brought an umbrella so no biggie). So these will go in one of the earthboxes tomorrow or maybe the next unless we float away.

No other gardening tasks accomplished except for removing another 15 slugs off the bok choy before I left for the library.

I do think I saw some sprouting in the last flat I sowed and put in the cold frame, including some of the natives. I'll check closer when it's not raining.

#the library DID increase their stock of mobile hotspots #the librarians had been putting in a new hold request for the patrons using them every time we checked one out #in an effort to reduce wait times #which had gotten up to 2 months long before they started doing this #now it looks to be a week or less even if you put in the request as you're turning one in which is fantastic #also i heard on the radio about visibility accessibility items you could check out from a nearby library system (e.g. lighted magnifiers)#and since the systems are connected for media (books and dvds etc)#i asked if our system had anything like that and the librarian figured out that it was something that could be checked out intersystem #and so i'm on a hold list for it because while i do not need it for reading #i've had some trouble with some sewing tasks--like threading the needle on the sewing machine #which means that part of my glasses prescription has gotten worse #but i can't afford new glasses (my lenses are ridiculously expensive)#(as in the eyeglass lab always takes extra weeks because they have to special order the material)#i've wanted to get one of those stands that you can swing a hands-free lighted magnifier over whatever you're working on #but at this point i'll try a hand-held one too as there are a few tricky clothing mends i need to get done #anyway public libraries ftw #also free food plants ftw #gardening
