Today's gameplay progress:

I made more progress with the main scenario of Endwalker! Specifically, I believe I've now finished all of the level 80 quests, so whenever I next log on I'll be able to unlock the level 81 dungeon

..I cannot remember how long it's been since I posted class levels, but I'm currently level 87 as a black mage, summoner, and dancer, then level 85 as a reaper (so.. I should probably swap to that while I'm doing these story quests to get it levelled up more, oops). Thankfully, since I'm now a level 90 dark knight, all these jobs will be getting the armoury bonus.

To get through some of my rested experience, I also spent some time levelling up blue mage by playing a very risky but fun "stealth game" of sorts with the Tempest's clionids and deep-sea leeches. So now I'm level 70 as one, which is tied with machinist and only one or two levels behind red mage!~

I changed Lorenza's Endwalker outfit slightly! I do still quite like her old one, but I think it might make more sense for it to purely be for 5.4 and 5.5(5) - a short-term showoff of a power she had stolen on the First, but nothing more. This is what the new one now looks like (featuring Alphinaud and Alisaie in new outfits of their own)!

You may notice I said main Endwalker outfit up above - I think this sort of attire would work well for general conditions, perhaps being sufficient for cold weather as well, but it may be slightly too much to have on in overly hot climates - like those of Thavnair, for example! I realised that the top piece of my summoner glamour matched the style that a lot of the NPCs were wearing, so I switched into it (though remained playing as a black mage) while I was there, which was a fun change to go back to. Here are some screenshots of that one!

This outfit shows off Lorenza's lower head feathers, which is fun, but the crimson vest she's wearing in her main outfit doesn't show bracelets, (which these are tied to) - and I can't figure out how to get it to show bracelets, so I may just hand-wave that by saying they aren't present yet.

(I also haven't decided if I'll give her a third, extra, outfit for the extreme cold of Garlemald yet - I know it's bad enough there that most of the Scions themselves get new outfits, so I might try and think of something.)

Other than getting lost in glamour hell, I also powered through the Minstrel's Ballad: Ultima's Bane by myself and promptly unlocked some savage Coils of Bahamut I'd completely forgotten existed. This was a good source of second chance points for my Wondrous Tails of this week (until I got stuck on Na'el), but I still don't have any lines yet, despite several shuffles.

Project Moon seems to actively avoid saying anything at all about gender (which in itself does say something- they seem to write their characters blind of what gender they're going to be and maybe even flip a coin to decide, in the end saying "we're all people and anyone can be in this social position and have these personality traits", but that's not the point here) but it was still awesome of them to make one of the six female characters in the main cast a mother figure anyway- which sounds sarcastic but I promise it isn't, because that character happens to be the violent chainsmoker who speaks in esoteric acronyms and refuses to explain them and only enjoys herself when she gets to engage in her favorite form of art (murdering people). that's the mom. and they practically tell us “she loves her child like a defensive spider mother who will hunt for food for her babies and devour anyone who tries to squash her kids” through giving her some form of Spider Bud EGO three times.

the reason this is better than no mothers at all is because instead of having to explain why [x] character (Rodya mostly) is not at all a mother figure and having to elaborate on Project Moon’s ideals and the way they write their characters you can go “actually you’re wrong the only milf on the bus is Ryōshū” and also because it subverts expectations so much more than if there just wasn’t any moms. with a complete absence you could still have the “ideal” mother in your head imagining that she could exist in the cast, but instead we have this

It's probably a stretch, but I like the idea that he was controlling the little shadow mantle boss creature in the last secret game before he got completely petrified...It's not written quite the same as his but I think you can just about read its dialogue britishly if you try. Though I guess if you say that's him it also makes him seem really sinister...I guess I already think he's a little sinister though. I also think he looks like a little doggy

DPxDC Prompt #8

Danny was practicing shapeshifting with Amorpho when he felt the tug of a summoning and heard the distant words drifting into his mind.

Normally Danny would just ignore it. Or if it seems like this was a group that needed some sense scared into them, he'd shift into his Horror form and terrify them into never pulling this shit again. But then he heard them mention live sacrifices, and Danny just had to step in before that happened. So he let the summoning pull him on through, briefly forgetting he was shapeshifted into a... less than ideal form.

Danny lands in the circle right on top of one of the intended sacrifices, a group of people in weird outfits and, is that guy green? Irrelevant. Immediately Danny on knows something is very wrong. His powers feel muted and far away. His form suddenly feels, locked somehow.

He casts his gaze across the summoning circle and, to his horror, recognizes the binding ritual. These cultists wanted to bind and seal him in one of these mortal's bodies after they were sacrificed. But they fucked up the spell. Or maybe Danny fucked it up by coming in too soon? Irrelevant again.

What matters is the spell went sideways. Instead of locking Danny into one of the sacrifice's bodies, it locked him into his own form while pulling most of his abilities just out of reach. Now he's here. In the shape of- He's stuck as-

"Dude, is that a pigeon? Did the Ghost King, like, send you to voicemail?"
