ok so im a biology masters student right. and the masters (and other grads) here in the bio department are (mostly) cleanly divided between the molecular people on the 3rd floor (working on things like development of tadpoles with facial abnormalities, effects of certain drugs on zebrafish embryos, aging in yeast) and the ecology people in the basement (working on things like effect of ants on carbon cycling in forests, competition and facilitation between different species of beach grass, effect of climate change on mushroom fruiting (thats me!)).

(and you have one or two people outside that binary, with like, evolution of pine trees involving both ecology and genetics.)
