yes, aspec people can be in relationships, etc etc, but riz specifically has expressed over and over and over again that that is something he personally has absolutely zero interest in.

he’s not just canonically aroace, he also canonically does not want a relationship.

“aroace people can be happy in romantic/sexual/queerplatonic relationships” is a true statement. “people who do not want to be in any kind of monogamous committed relationship can be happy in a monogamous committed relationship” is quite a bit harder to argue.

i’m just so sick of it. i’m glad we all understand that there’s nuance to aspec identities, and everyone’s expressions of and experiences with their own aspec identities are going to be different and personal.

like, it’s not even just about the asexual/aromantic aspect anymore. it’s also just refusing to let him not want to be in a relationship. why are so many people so resistant to the idea that he does not want to be in a relationship. like genuinely, why can you not accept that there are people who just don’t want that. who would just be unhappy in a relationship. why can’t you wrap your head around the idea that wanting a relationship is not a thing that everyone secretly wants. like, No, he hasn’t just not “met the right person” yet. because there is no right person. because he’s simply not interested.

TL;DR: riz being aroace is not the only reason to not ship him. he also, explicitly and repeatedly, has stated he does not want to be in a relationship. “aspec people can be in relationships” is completely irrelevant because regardless riz simply does not want a relationship. please just respect thag.

I've been dabbling in a project, mostly world building and not actual fic because my brain is a strange creature, but I have decided that in my interpretation of the PJO universe, Athena is ... well a strategist in all things.

Including the creation of her children.

The way I'm envisioning it, creating a child from her own mind isn't really a task she undertakes casually.

Yes, she does it occasionally as a "gift" to a mortal whose mind she admires. There's no romantic or sexual relationship, but it's an intense, consuming relationship all the same.

Children born for that reason (or for just that reason) are rare though. Athena might have many favorites, but she's also proud. Who deserves a child entirely crafted by a Goddess? Only the few.

I think, in a normal decade, the number of Athena campers is actually on the lower end compared to most of the other Olympians.

None of the Campers outside of Athena's own children every really figure it out, and Chiron, who knows, would sooner die than tell them.

But when there are many children of Athena, like there are in Annabeth's childhood, it's a sign that something strange or terrible is coming.

Athena is a strategist, the right hand of Zeus, his favorite child, the one who forsees and attempts to dismantle threats to Olympians' power. She moves the pieces into place without hesitation or sentimentality.

And the easiest pieces to control, of course, would be her own children.

Other demigods have other immortal parents to listen to, no matter how strong their desire for victory or their inherent cunning. Her own children are fragments of her own mind- much more reliable. Much easier to predict.

And if in the years leading up to whatever disturbance she forsees she chooses mortal parents for her children with calculation, with an eye for the skill sets and temperaments she predicts most needing in the dark times ahead...well, the child and their parent should be honored by her forethought.

It isn't even that she has no affection for the parent or child, in so much as she is capable of affection. But Athena is always, always three steps ahead, and her actions always have intent. Her children are no different.

A demigod, ultimately, is a weapon in the hands of the gods. It's best that the ones she chooses are well-crafted.

It’s hilarious (re: not) how one certain member who never had empathy to start with and basically played good cop bad cop in seoul city says he now lacks empathy and can’t stand immature ppl when he is still the most immature of them all and still lacks complete self-awareness and basically played a fantasy version of military acting like it was a field trip while there were others who were in the frontlines and did the exact extreme version of military the way one wouldn’t like to think of it coming out from it as even a better version of themselves (re: jimin and just to an extent even jk by extension of having shared the similar experience which even then he himself acknowledges his assigned position was still better than jimin’s which imo the reason he can realize and vocalize this (which I doubt he would’ve had they not been together) is def cuz as always jimin has had and has positive influence on him mentally and emotionally. (and as always the case with him too, being with jimin for an extended period does and did improve his character, for now at the very least)

Anyway, this chapter 2 nonsense and bts members coming out of the military really highlights and puts everything i felt about most of them from as early on as the beginning years into concrete perspective. Those i thought to be selfish, jealous etc simply proved the case to be throughout the years and the reason for it being more apparent in the recent years is simply cuz there was no more a group collective to hide those sides of them. Most were lucky to have been in bts and for the fame they saw with just being in the group yet those exact ones are and were the ones who always, albeit silently before, bragged about and profited from this fact and fed their personal egos as if that meant that luck (which again they got to reap of off thanks to several few in the group) and good timing on their side combined with the good group performance synergy they used to have in certain periods, were thanks to them personally while always ignoring the real reasons the group got to see the popularity they did cuz that meant for them to have self-awareness and specifically accept the one member some of them always wanted to belittle to be one of the main reasons for the success of the group.
