The Cat's Way is a spirit world for cats that I've been working on for 10+ years. It's a direct result of wild cats becoming cushy with humans when they began to settle and farm. Over time it built its own pantheon, with legendary cats bringing their individual spice to the table. I think the Way is a pocket dimension Su won after watching humans gamble and deciding to try his hand at it. He had partners in crime. After he acquired it, other cats got a similar idea to go out and 'obtain' abilities to make the pocket world better. As a unit they declared it a place for cats (that is smack dab in the middle of a bunch of other worlds). Su became their god, and the other cats became progenitors for new lineages/houses (Pea, Lentil, Flax, etc). They watched people, learned and built relationships with them. Over time they became apart from their wild relatives. They become intrinsically tied to humans and agriculture. Some things about their world can't even happen without people involved (Winking Cats). Their new world shares borders with Faerie, who they also built relationships with. They probably call their home The Fields, after Su's fields, where domestic cat spirits are born before they're sent out into the waking world to be born for real.

What interactive fiction would you recommend (besides this one)?
oh anon i follow over 150 if blogs let me get you some of my favorites😊 This is very long so all of them are under the cut🫶
some of these you'll probably already have heard of bc of how popular they are, but trust me, they're popular for a reason, lmao
these ones all have demos (if i messed up and some dont uh ignore that)
@infamous-if - "You're going to be a superstar, no matter what it takes." genuinely one of my favorites ifs (seven lawless my beloved please come back home the kids are asking whats taking so long)
@coeluvr - "You play as the only remaining member of the royal family of Vesphire; living in the home of the man who took away everything from you." another ive been obsessed with recently. i will forever love revenge stories (and my pookie helios)
@merrycrisis-if - "As a late 20-something year-old fresh from a recent break-up and struggling to pay rent in New York, life throws up more questions than answers."
@ramonag-if - "When your village is razed to the ground, you're left fleeing with an exiled prince. You can trust no one but each other. Your father's dying wish was to protect the prince, but can you really trust a man who was exiled from his kingdom?"
@nyehilismwriting / Project Hadea - "Set in a distant future, you play the role of an elite operative of Scytha Industries, a private contracting firm. ‘Contracting’, in this case, refers to anything from political assassinations, to private security, to bodyguard services."
@vapolis - "You’re a mercenary, gun for hire, assassin, information extractor, delivery person – call it what you want, because the people that hire you for your services don’t give much of a shit what you call yourself as long as you actually get them what they want."
@godsandvillains-if - "As the only metahuman with the ability to wield the powerful Chaos Magic, your very blood holds the answers to unlocking the secrets behind the control of time and space, but it has the drawback of being almost completely volatile."
@hvllowheart - "LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER is a spy game where you take on the role of an agent under the codename Wraith, who up until two years ago was one of the best agents TERRA has ever made. now the agency returns into your life and pulls you back into the field as agents go missing by the dozens."
@eyesofshan-if - "Years ago, you were uprooted from the only home you had ever known and captured to be sold as a slave. Now, war is at your doorstep once more while you are left in a delicate position — as a commander of the country that invaded your homeland. While investigating a case of illegal human trafficking, you come across a plot that threatens to rip this tentative peace apart."
@apt502-if - "Moving from your small home to New York City was supposed to be a dream. You were supposed to start your new life with your long-distance partner and dive headfirst into full-on adulthood. Everything was supposed to be perfect. How can you not love being in your mid-twenties in the Big Apple? That is until your put-together, white collar partner dumps you the same day you arrive. Fun."
@acourtofserpents - "As the only human in the Kingdom of Faerie, you're no stranger to shining eyes that hold looks filled with hatred, lips painted in the color of forest fruits whispering your name, heads with pointed ears turning at your every step. Though you long for their approval, for a place amongst the wicked immortals, they remind you with every breath you take that as you came from dirt, to dirt you will return."
@softlyopulent-if - "All of King Adder’s children are a mystery to the common folk, but you—you are nothing but a ghost. A ghost, that spends eighteen years locked away in the deepest part of the palace, so that no eyes may lay upon you.And those that do—they do not treat you kindly. And when you are finally of age, at last, you are betrothed to the child of the King of a far away kingdom, to secure an alliance that your father has been seeking for years. And you are swept away to a place even more foreign than your own land, to be wed to a stranger that looks at you with contempt. To live in a kingdom of citizens that despise you. And perhaps, just perhaps, fight a war."
@heromaker-if - "Stories of heroes, legends and chosen ones are commonplace. But you'd never thought it was your child who would have to save the world from the Demon Lord's clutches."
@theabyssal - "In The Abyssal, you assume the control of a powerful deity that was betrayed by their fellow gods. Imprisoned against your will for all eternity, you had a long time to plan your revenge."
@milaswriting - "By birth, and association, you are one of the most famous people in the big city of Lehsa. Your father's the mayor, and you're from a bright, vibrant, bustling city... and yet, until recently, you didn't realise all the secrets yourself and the city held."
@zico-if - "You were supposed to be a sacrifice in order to bring an eldritch god to your realm, a sacrifice that was never supposed to live. Instead of dying and summoning the god intended, you find yourself face to face with an ancient being that was chained and locked away for the horrors they once committed."
@collegetennisoriginstory - "Experience the ups-and-downs of life as a freshman on the Cargill University varsity tennis team amongst a colorful cast of characters."
@disenchantedif - "You used to be a beacon of hope. Now they only know you as the failure, the Unchosen. Will you rise above them? Will you become better or far worse than they could ever imagine?"
@bouncyballcitadel - "Play as a first-year surgery intern at Citadel Health. Will you become the star intern and curry the favor of the chief? Or will you uncover Citadel Health’s secrets and break a story or two? This will be the best and worst year of your life. Don’t forget to save lives and break some hearts along the way."
@leoneliterary - "You play as a thief pressed into the employ of a mysterious nobleman. With the your life, the fate of your guild, and your honor on the line, you'll have to navigate the perils of the royal court and combat a more mystical threat. The story is set in Cusmo, the naturally fortified, desert capital of Hashind, and will showcase the much praised Upper Cusmo, the crime ridden Lower Cusmo, and much more."
@doriana-gray-games - "Play as your version of Sherlock Holmes in this romance detective game!"
@fallenlightsif - "You are the half-sibling of High General Ezrah Rhys and have lived the past twelve years of your life in Kesdon, the capital of Ebia. You've spent most of your time training and honing your skills for the future that awaits you. A future that is entirely your own."
@shai-manahan - "They call you Ripper. It’s a horrendous name to give to a detective like you, and definitely not one you chose for yourself, but you suppose it’s to be expected given your reputation for putting powerful people behind bars. Businesses feared you. The other cops hated you. Local gangs despised your entire existence. Yet, despite all of that, you remained untouched. Until that day, when all the lies and the deception and the foolish mistakes turned your life upside down."
@larkingame - "someone is after you. for over a decade and a half now, you’ve traveled up, down and across the country--running schemes and hunting fiends with your mentor, con-man-by-day, vampire-hunter-by-night, Wyatt Abrams--the prolific vampire slayer and the living descendant of Gregory Abrams, founder and prophet of the Abrams Family, the nomadic vampire-hunting cult that raised you--and was wiped out years ago. carrying the abrams name means also means carrying on it's enemies--but that isn't to say you haven't forged a couple of your own along the way. now, it seems someone is trying to make good on old threats and promises. they've placed a bounty on your head. so you and wyatt do what you do best: you run away. to some little town, out nevada ways, where the title of town preacher is unexpectedly thrust upon you--bringing back years of trauma you thought long tucked away."
@evertidings - "you are a bounty hunter. responsible for taking in rogue supernaturals, you work for IAOS—the international agency of supernaturals—where, alongside your best friend and partner, you two have quickly become the best hunting duo of the branch. after a particularly tricky hunt, you brief your boss, Caine Atheron, and come back to work the next day to find that he has mysteriously disappeared overnight, the company is now in the hands of his best friend, Sebastian Mai. and though no one else seems to question it, something tells you that there's more to the story."
@rotten-games - Regrets Of The Traitor: "You are the Ruler of Hadaria after killing the previous Queens and betraying all who once trusted you. Sat upon the throne with all the power available to you, one would be forgiven for believing you finished with your quest. With a strange figure in your dreams speaking vague prophecies of magical artifacts, a mysterious cult moving into the city, and a group intent on unseating you from your place, perhaps you’re way in over your head for a farmer’s kid. City of Immortals: "You follow a pair of siblings worlds apart as they get accustomed to their new realities in two very different worlds. One trapped in an unnatural desert wasteland where every resource has a scarcity, not knowing if they’ll be the only one left when everything turns to dust, the other working as a private investigator in a sprawling underground metropolis of the undying. Each not knowing the other is alive, will they unravel the mysteries that somehow connect their two new homes?"
@shepherds-of-haven - "Shepherds of Haven is a dark fantasy interactive fiction game. In it, you play as a Mage living in a world where magic is outlawed and your people—those possessing supernatural powers—are oppressed and reviled. The world is ruled by humans who believe in science, technology, and industry: at best, you and your kind are nothing more than a fairytale, and at worst you are the state’s greatest threat."
@someoneverypretty-world - "As a child, growing up in the slums of Hvinir without any guardians, you believed you would not live to see 30. Until Haven, a thief guild, took you in and taught you how to survive. Facing hardships, the guild leader tasks you to sneak into the castle with the mission to take."
@northern-passage - "The Northern Passage is an 18+ horror fantasy CYOA, where you play as a hunter sent up north to investigate a series of missing people along the border of your home country and in the port cities of the Blackwater. Working with your handler, Lea, you will travel north and discover that things are far worse than you ever could have imagined, and that there is something powerful lurking out in the deep, dark sea…"
@thedecoy-if - "♔ The Decoy is a dark fantasy that follows you, a 21st century normal human, kidnapped to an alternate magical universe to play the part of the missing heir to a powerful throne...who also happens to be your doppelgänger. ♔"
@ripperplague - "You are a doctor, a prodigy in hiding. Deep in the underbelly of Valeris, you hide among the shadows. You work hard to wring the blood stains off your palms, your face...your soul. Redemption and revenge are parallel goals, the flames of rage and disgust mingling. How could anyone ever love you?"
These ones dont have a demo yet, but im still absolutely obsessed
@pavedinashes-if - "You're only 20 when suddenly your life goes bam! Throwing you into a whole new city, a different country even. Wasn't part of the plan, but you know how life loves to mess with plans. People happened, stuff happened, and suddenly you're on the move. The new chapter ahead? Buckle up, 'cause it's not gonna be all sunshine and rainbows. And guess what? Your step-mom? Yeah, she's right there in the same city. She's always had this knack for trying to steer your ship, like every decision's a GPS checkpoint. But hey, there's this one thing that's never let you down—your skateboard. It's like the buddy that's been with you through thick and thin, the one that never bails. Among all this craziness it's like your anchor. So, the big question is—can you break out of the loop you got in? Find your place in the world and restart or lose yourself in temptation? Time to find out."
@riptide-if - "Your dad has always said you swim as if your were born to be in the water; the rest of your family has always said that he is the whole reason you turned out like that. So, it's not really a surprise when you had used all the money you got for your 7th birthday to buy a surfboard. And even less of a surprise when you started joining small surf competitions by the time you were 10, later followed by bigger competitions. It seems you are the only one surprised when it turns out you're able to compete in the World Surfer's League's Ultimate Tournament Tour*. Thrown into a mix of fellow surfing prodigies, rookies, and pros, do you really have what it takes to win?"
@weepinwriter - "You are inmate No. 1441, incarcerated in Tartarus, the most notorious prison on the continent. You find yourself imprisoned for a crime that you do not remember committing, leaving you in a state of uncertainty about your own identity and purpose. The first memory you have is awakening to the sensation of a gun being shoved into your mouth."
@whatawaitsus - "Despite being one of the most expensive schools in the nation, nothing particularly interesting has happened at the school in the nine years you've been here— aside from the occasional accidental possession caused by a ghost or the common room getting flooded after a nixie gets too frustrated over their homework. That is until students start to go missing."
@evermount - "Blue-suited guards stand in every corner, but they're no threat—you're under threat. And this is how you keep safe. It's necessary; the council said so themselves. Under no circumstances shall Evermount be left, ever. So, no one has, and no one intends to. Why would you? It's peaceful—you're at peace. You have your spouse, and you have your house; everyone's happy. This is all you've ever known."
@forsakensword-if - "When the Deathless, an Ancient Evil that hasn’t been seen in over two million years, returns to Earth, it threatens the extremely precarious peace that has settled between the warring factions of Heaven and Hell. God, in an effort to protect Humanity from the consequences of a war between the Angels and Demons, sends Heaven’s best warriors to banish the Deathless once more. When that ultimately fails, it is declared that God’s Sworn Sword and Heaven’s Chief Angel will be charged with finding a way to destroy the Deathless once and for all. That Angel is you. The Archangel Michael."
@velena-if - "You wake up in a dark, cold place with no memories of yourself, save for one: the memory of your death. It becomes clear soon enough that you are in the Nav, the domain of the goddess of death, Morana, and the sanctuary of all the evil spirits and monsters. For you, Nav will be the place where your life changes forever."
@countdown-if - "Three months ago, life took a sharp turn. Your mother found herself entangled in a situation so bad, she couldn't dig her way out of it, like usual. This time, the hole was way too deep. She needed help, and the only people capable of aiding her were the same ones she had vowed never to allow back into her life, let alone introduce to you and your younger sibling. Who were they? Your grandparents—a powerful and well-established duo. In short, they did manage to help your mother back on her feet, but not without strings attached—never without strings. Now, you're facing a senior year in a private school, fully funded by none other than grandma and grandpa, dearest. The only task at hand: do what your mother couldn't—graduate."
@dropout-if - "This is your first summer home since you began studying in Stanford. That is what everyone thinks. This is your first summer home since you dropped out of college, thus becoming the biggest disappointment in your neighborhood. That is what only you know. "
@stonewall-if - "Stonewall Military Academy: the most brutal, merciless, and unforgiving boarding school in the country. Most recruits either desert or die by the end of their first year. It is where the fiercest and deadliest killers are trained and molded to be the military's steel fist. And it is not for the faint of heart."
@viperdove-if - "You are the Dove, the heir to one of the most powerful crime families in your country. The grip your family--your father--has on their side of the land is tight, and now that you've reached adulthood it's time for you to be fully absorbed into the machinations of gang warfare. That means opium, mercenaries, assassinations. In this ancient world, blood moves people just as much as money does."
@fallen-if - "You are an individual that has been known by many aliases over the years. Child of the dawn, the original sinner, star of the morning. But no matter the name, your identity remains the same. You are the one that defied the heavens, the one that cast aside the shackles of tradition and broke free from the constraints of the divine. You are Lucifer Morningstar - The Fallen Angel. "
@maboroshi-if - "Maboroshi is an Interactive Fiction Game based in the world of Naruto, however, all events within the story span during the end of the First Shinobi War and the beginning of the Second Shinobi War."
@greatprotector-if - "Forced out of your family's farm against your will, you are now an ocean away from home, and you have somehow been chosen to be the main protector of the heir to some kingdom you’ve hardly even heard of. The spot's only open because the former protector died of old age, so that's probably a good indicator that it won't be as strenuous as it sounds. But despite that, you pour yourself into your work. You can't help it. You feel safer decked out in armour, and you like having something you're trusted to look after. Protect some royalty, cover all your blind spots, and try not to worry about all you've left behind."
@retribution-if - "Retribution, He Cries is a revenge story set in the Dark Ages of the fictional world of [REDACTED] and other realms."
@thescarsilivewith-if - "You were a kind monarch once. After your mother’s brutal reign, you thought your people needed respite. Evidently, they didn’t think the same since their bloodthirst only increased. Three years after your coronation, your mother’s favourite consort dethroned you with the army and the clergy’s support. As you fled from the palace together with your spouse, from an arranged marriage celebrated only three months earlier, you were found by slavers. You managed to save your spouse but not yourself. Four years later, your spouse finds you, though you’re not the same person they knew. You are not changed in spirit alone, however, for your magic grew in your captivity and now you’re unbound. When the crown chose you as its owner, you wanted peace for your kingdom. Now the only thing you crave is revenge."

You are going to get the chance to go to a university in another plane of existence for one semester. Everyone in your life will just think you're abroad somewhere. When entering the new plane you'll be given a new body that matches that plane's inhabitants, (most people probably won't believe you if you ad it you're from another plane). You'll also automatically know the language they speak there.
Your options are:
1: a university in a plane where no biological life exists, and instead the main inhabitants are advanced robots. Your new body will probably be pretty alien to the one you have now, so it might take soke time getting used to it. The technology of this plane is also more advanced than yours. And the university you'll be going to is inside of a massive pyramid.
2: a university within the plane of the faeries. This is actually one or the planes that's had the most contact with your own, though they don't look upon humans well. Faeries are diverse creatures, ranging from elegant humanoid, to buglike and fungal monasteries, it also seems they don't have a human concept of morality. Also note that their idea of a "school" is much diffrent from ours.
3: a university in an alternate timeline where the KPG mass extinction never occurred. The earth here has a single sentient species, who evolved from feathered raptors. This is an alternate earth instead of a truly alien plane, so it's not going to have diffrent physics, though you will be dealing with a species very alien to your own.
4: a university within a plane of endless sea. There are three main species here, one who have humanlike bodies but gills and mouths like jawless fish, one who have hard crablike shells that almost look like armor, and one who have long shark like tails but more humanoid upper halves with four arms. Humans also exist here, and live exclusively on ships and submarines, but they're rare.
5: a university in a plane similar to our own earth, but where magic, cryptids and monsters all exist and are known to exist. While the school is mostly humans, a few undead, lycanthropes and other strange creatures have attended here. The university you'd be sent here if you choose this to is in a major cultural hub, and while it doesn't teach exclusively magic that is an option. It should also be mentioned that humans don't have sex here and their bodies lack any sex characteristics, and how they reproduce is a mystery.
6: a university in a plane where demons, djinn and fallen angels come from. This is a vast realm, filled with caverns, dark forests, vast deserts, and massive artificial structures, with the university you'd be going to here being at the massive city in its center. The creatures here are far less evil than many think, and their forms are probably the most diverse of an plane listed here's inhabitants. This is also another plane which has had some interaction with yourse.
7: a university in a plane of endless forest, with trees so massive entire cities are built into their trunks. Nobody has ever seen its floor, and nonody has reached the top of the tallest known trees. This plane is inhabited by insectoid humanoids, of many diffrent varieties, and it seems that no vertebrate life exists here.
8: a school in a plane that exists entirely digitally. Some parts of it are static screens, others entire 3d or 2d worlds. It can be hard for mortals to adjust to this type of world, but if you've spent a lot of time on the internet or playing video games you kind of get how it feels to be here, just without any body required to interface with this location. Also note that there are some very malicious entities here that might harm you if you aren't being careful here.
9: a university in a desert plane where humans have become outnumbered by various types of undead, ranging from liches and phantoms to vampires. The undead here are sentient and have mostly assimilated into human society by now and most humans have adapted to their culture, and the war between the two kinds has long ended. While this world is at about a 21st century level of technology, there's proof it may have once been far more advanced long ago. Due to a past conflict humans here have lost what we'd consider 'afab' bodies, and require strange magic involving water to create offspring.
10: a school in a plane that consists of an endless city, constantly bathed in summer night. Technology here is slightly more advanced than it is in your world, and alongside humans, cyborgs, and robots are quite common, some of whom take on forums quite alien to humanity. Humans here also all posses bodies we'd consider 'afab', due to events long past, and reproduce using technology. The university you'll go to if you choose this one is in one of the most populated parts of the endless city, near the center of the known world, though they say strange and unknowable creatures lurk near the edges of the known city.
11: the university in the nameless city of yetoth.[Warning, this is a highly dangerous option and involves entities not cleared for human knowledge]
Reblog to teleport to the plane of your choice. Like to bring home a gift from where you went.

Finally finished my ancients designs !!
Tumblr media
A bit of rambling under cut :3 --v
Ok so I know some people are gonna be mad at me for making dark cacao short but. Hear me out: it canonically takes 3 average cookies to lift his sword and bro can hold it w one hand,, also the dark cacao people live in the mountains so I made them dwarves with short, stocky bodies so they conserve heat better and are very physically strong
So to me it's takes at least 2 dark cacao(ians?) To lift cacao's sword but probably like, five average cookies (probably like. Up to 10 faeries lmao they're so smol)
Golden cheese is small but not necessarily short (she's actually tall for avians) but she needs to be small and light so she can fly- also she has prosthetic wings but you can't tell in the drawing (cus yknow. Burning spice wanted to make chicken wings ig) also speaking of burning spice, he's the tallest beast so golden is TINY compared to him lmao
Pure vanilla i made a firefly bc i imagine the vanilla kingdom is made of flying creatures bc its in the sky- pv also has wings but you can't see them 😔 (in my hc, custard cookie III is his great-grandson- cc has tiny antenna but no wings) and yes, pv glows :]
For hollyberrians, I imagine that wherever they live used to be the home of a bunch of full dragons, but over time they slowly disappeared and more cookie-like dragons appeared, eventually evolving into the hollyberry kingdom. Hollyberry doesn't have wings but does have the bone structure to have them, just none grew out (but most don't. Its actually a rare instance that hollyberrians grow wings) but she does have horns- its usually only the royal family that grow horns
Most have tails and long ears- its common if you go to the hollyberry kingdom that you'll find clothing in shops with holes cut out for tails lol
And lastly, white lily :) she's the tallest but also really thin- like snap like a twig thin. She's a deer satyr and kinda faerie-adjacent, and moss and flowers grow on her horns. When she was dark enchantress, de used magic to change her appearance to be less deer and more goat-like bc fawns "aren't scary enough"
De is also a bit taller than lily, but not bc she grew- she just holds herself taller and stands up straighter lol. I don't know if white lily has any canon relatives but they're also probably fawns/satyrs
But I imagine the faeries are kinda bug-like (inspired by this post), maybe descendents of the vanilla kingdom in some way? Or the other way around idk. Lily becomes queen after elder faerie passes and grows wings but they aren't big enough to fly, mostly just for show (golden cheese is jealous but they hurt like hell)
Anyway yah. Thank you for coming to my ted talk :3

Why is the Night Court so boring?
I don't like the NC, Velaris and the IC because they are perfect. You're probably thinking: "Wait, what about Illyria? The Court of Nightmares?" They're not the problem. We see MENTIONS of rebellions, not rebellions (and only in ACOFAS). We're scared that the CoN is filled with mad mothefuckers so they shouldn't be allowed into civilized Velaris. But where's their abnormality? They're religious fanatics? No. They're terrorists? No. They're just... arrogant conservatives. You know, FAIRIES.
ACOMAF could be Feyre Cursebreaker's journey and a slowburn with a morally gray Rhysand. Okay, let's say ACOMAF is only about the NC. What kind of plot could we see?
1. The rivalry between Keir and Rhysand.
Keir is the most dangerous faerie in the NC. What if very old faeries are immune to daemati's power? Rhysand isn't afraid of him, but he has to be careful and cunning to be respected in this terrarium called the Court of Nightmares. Some fairies wanted to take power from Keir, stabbing him in the back. Keir is here, and where are they? No one has seen them again... And why Rhysand chose Mor as his "second"? She knows Keir. She knows his tricks, his way of thinking, his confidants and enemies.
Keir can't ignore Feyre: if Rhysand took Mor with her "power of truth" (whatever that means), Keir wants Cursebreaker. Feyre needs to learn how get along with fairies like Keir, 'cause that's the politics - it doesn't care about your feelings or traumas.
2. Rebellions in Illyria.
We have Devlon with old warriors defends the centuries-old, cruel order of Illyrian society, and Balthazar with the younger generation who wants changes. It's useless to frighten the Illyrians with brute force, diplomacy will not be effective. Imagine that in Rhysand's absence, Cassian has decided to support Devlon 'cause with enemies like Amarantha and Hybern, you can't relax. Azriel is on Balthazar's side 'cause he knows better than anyone - cruelty corrupts. Of course, they respect Rhysand, but he is more High Fae than Illyrian.
The Illyrians can't ignore Feyre - she has the powers of all High Lords. Yes, she's a woman, but so was Amarantha, and what did she do on her own? Feyre knew poverty, just like Cassian. Her kindness and compassion are not weakness. Feyre was neglected by her family, suffered tortures, and she is unique, just like Azriel. Feyre needs to learn the importance of laws, the line between respecting traditions and the harm it causes.
3. Amren.
Damn, how SJM screwed up with her... A creature who is over 15,000 years old, acts like my mean grandma. Imagine if Rhysand's "third" was a real otherworldly monster. The banshee who went out of control. She can't talk, only cry, scream and howl, but with this she warns of danger and brings death. Rhysand's power can restrain Amren, but he is forced to feed her by souls to keep her from escaping the NC.
Feyre must help him, because Amren is ready to fight with the Weaver. For them it is merely a territorial matter, like for animals, but for Velaris it will be disastrous. Forget the fucking ring. Feyre must lure the Weaver away and bring her home while Rhysand does the same to Amren.
So, Rhysand protected Velaris from Amaranta, but the High Lord is so important that without him any community falls into chaos. Rhysand just can't be a good guy 'cause in the NC good guys drop like flies. And Feyre is a new force, a fresh perspective. And in the end the land chooses her as High Lady - equal to Rhysand, but not because she is his mate/wife (slowburn, remember?), but because she has earned it through her work.
But fans find more interesting to see Feyre as a whore and a thief, Keir as a pathetic bitch under Rhysand's thumb, the IC as the perfect family, Velaris as a fairytale. Illyria and the CoN are the background: there's something going on, but it's not worth paying attention to. We're more interested in seeing when and how Feyre and Rhysand will fuck, and everyone else doing something to make an illusion of a plot.
That's why the Night Court is so boring. And, unfortunately, we stuck in there.

I believe the "Corrupted Altador" plot teaser poster was the second-to-last of the "corrupted land" posters, with Faerieland being the last--and I think this could support the idea of the Darkest Faerie being the source of the red lipstick on one of the Mysterious Chalices.
It makes sense for Faerieland to be the final stop; the Artificer was a former resident of Faerieland with a particular axe to grind with her ex Queen Fyora, so it could be either a case of saving the best (from the Artificer's perspective) for last or a way of drawing out Fyora's suffering before her final (Artificer-planned) defeat.
Altador isn't especially close to Faerieland; it's across an entire mountain range. But having Altador be the second-to-last stop would make a lot of sense if the Darkest Faerie is involved.
The giant Void-rift-in-the-sky is clearly visible from the Hall of Heroes--and probably from most of the city. Any time the citizens look up, they're reminded of the looming threat--a threat none of the leaders of Neopia, including their own beloved Council, seem to be making any significant progress in resolving so far.
Surely, anyone who could save them from such a threat would be praised as the greatest of heroes--heaped with laurels and accolades.
Even if that someone had once been banished--even if that someone had once herself been considered the greatest threat to Altador.
Perhaps the Darkest Faerie made a deal with the Artificer-- "I'll work with you on two conditions--one, help me deal with this ring draining my lifeforce and magic; two, don't touch Altador--let me 'save' it."
In the on-site Altador Plot, the Darkest Faerie planned to alter the memories of the city's history so that everyone would remember her as the sole founder of Altador. She doesn't just want to conquer the city--she wants to be seen as its rightful ruler, not merely its conqueror.
Perhaps she thinks that, if she paints herself as the savior of the city, the lone island of color in a greyed-out Neopia, all her past crimes will be absolved in the eyes of Altador's people--and, more than that, as the one person who managed to save Altador from the Grey Curse, she'll be naturally seen as the one most fit to rule it, letting her take her long-dreamed-of place on Altador's throne at last.
(She could finally go home...)
If this is the case, of course, it's obviously not going to go according to plan; the Artificer is most likely going to betray the Darkest Faerie as soon as the Darkest Faerie is no longer of use to her plan--an irony which the Betrayer will probably not appreciate.

I have a joke I tell people when I meet them. I tell them, "Hello, I'm Rook, I stole my name from the Fae." And its not exactly wrong, because when I was just a fledgling transie, I was reading a book called An Enchantment of Ravens, by Margaret Rogerson? And in it, is a character- a fairy prince, named Rook. The plot of the book is unimportant to this story, and I don't believe I actually finished the book? But I should. Anyway: I saw this fae prince with his fae ass bird name Rook and went, "That's mine now!" And now its my legal middle name. And the name I let people close call me! But it got me thinking about maybe writing a little, queer cozy fantasy romance or something. About Identity. About a human that wanders into the feywild or a royal faerie's court (You know the trope), and tricks the residing prince into giving them his name. Now this has a host of unintended consequences. Such as the human gaining the faerie's name and all of his power, and then using that power to gtfo out of the woods, leaving everything they left behind in chaos. The prince is forced out - no name, no power, no claim to the throne, and goes on a long journey to find and kill the human, and take back his name and destiny. He expects to find them lording it up over the other humans in a castle or something, using HIS magic for greedy and selfish reasons but when he finally does track them down, they live in a small village and no one knows they're magic. They are using it, but in little ways, and for everyone they meet. And something something, the fae prince tries to summon the anger to kill them, but cannot, especially when the human sees him, recognizes him, and welcomes him home. There's probably something happening to the human that only the prince can fix, (because the magic can't) and the human teaches him about being human, and slowly he comes to realize that names only have power if he gives it power, and also, something something... queer experience, identity, maybe a little romance, I don't know how it ends or what lesson will be taken from this. But I know its a fun little idea that's been in my head for about 5 years now!

Hi! I'm working on a story that with involve Fae at some point, so I have a question that will help with that.
Do you know how you're supposed to escape the Faerie realm?
I've read that Faerie circles are an entrance, and that you shouldn't step into them- I've also learned that you should never accept food from the Fae. I'm not sure how true these two are, they're what I'm going with for my book from now (still in the planning process!), but I can't find much about how to actually ESCAPE the Faerie realm.
Thank you! I love your blog btw 🥰
Generally that's because there really isn't a particularly good way to escape the Faerie Realm once you get yourself there. A lot of advice centers around what to do to avoid going there in the first place, and then what sorts of things we can reasonably try to avoid while being stuck there for a bit. But you might notice that in many stories the characters who come into contact with Faerie usually only manage to escape by the skin of their teeth, or sometimes leave that strange Otherworld with side effects that tend to overshadow the rest of their life. There are exceptions, of course, but those stories are exactly that. Exceptions. The characters portrayed therein are meant to exemplify the virtues and traits that the tellers of that culture admired, and thus could use those talents and traits to their advantage in escaping successfully. Cleverness, wit, kindness, and so much else. There are often even conflicting traits depending on the particular story and teller. One story might reward a princeling for his generosity to an old woman on the roadside, while another punish him for being so naive or easily tricked. The point, I think, would really have to come down to the specifics of the situation. First off whether or not you are even in your right mind anymore, hence all the warnings about not eating their food and trying to stay out of enchantments and magical circles and the like. Secondly to use your skills and talents to their best advantage to try and figure out a way home without getting yourself cursed or worse. If you are to be successful in such an endevour, you'll need to realize that the specific means of escape will probably be different for everyone.
If, what you're asking, is more about what kinds of boundaries you might have to cross in order to leave... well that could look like almost anything. It could be something obvious like a gate or doorway, a tree-lined path in the woods, a cave entrance or waterfall. Or it could be entirely unassuming, barely a boundary at all. A simple field or meadow, a pool of water whose reflection is another world entirely, or anything else. I do believe that there was a strong tradition for rivers and mountains to mark the boundaries between worlds as they did between natural territories and biomes in our world. It ties in heavily to our human interest in the concept of Liminal spaces. Boundary spaces such as rivers, often with a bridge over them, or a ferry, are a very powerful symbolic and literal boundary line which one must cross like a threshold. The place between one side of the river and the next is the in-between, the liminal, the divide. Neutral territory. Exactly what you might expect to find in a boundary between worlds, though also just as capable as being a boundary within a world as well.

Fander Fic Rec Friday (#20)
(Fae Tales and Fairy-Fails)
The (Un)Wanted and Other Stories series by TheAsexualofSpades Faerie AU (DRLAMP) Rating: T Fleeing persecution in his village, Virgil stumbles upon unexpected refuge in the form of a mystical garden and the fae who live there. Notes: Virgil winds up the subject of the most hurt/comfort and doting, as well as a tremendous amount of chaos (expected, of course, for any story in which the twins are fae).
The What the Truth Is series by ArtistOwl Faerie/Soulmate AU (Prinxiety) Rating: T Virgil has known for most of his life that he is a changeling. The fae can't lie, period, so it was bound to be hard to figure out who his soulmate was (if he had one) by that constraint alone. (For better or worse, his soulmate lucks into a way of revealing the truth that uncovers a lot more than what he bargained for.) Notes: Yes, this is a soulmate fic and a Prinxiety fic, and it's very cute and a little angsty, but I'm probably always going to remember it for the rare bits of Janus clearly doing his level best to take his little brother's fae bullshit in stride.
The Faeries in the Forest series by Ended_Flames Faerie AU (Prinxieceit) Rating: T Virgil and Roman get turned around while out for a hike in the woods. Luckily for them, they happen upon a helpful stranger willing to show them the way home, no strings attached... Notes: Modern fantasy with a vaguely domestic feel as Virgil and Roman adapt to having Janus become a part of their lives.
the roots of something greener by delimeful Faerie AU (Gen) Rating: G Janus is an exiled faerie who is approached for a deal by a curious child. His attempt at teaching the boy a hard lesson about dealing with the fae doesn't turn out quite like he planned... Notes: I love stories with Janus becoming a mentor to a younger side. I love it even more when he decides to be a little bit cranky about it. (I doubt Logan appreciates it as much.)
An Order That Will Be Done by keepquietplease Faerie AU (Anxceit) Rating: T Virgil is enchanted by Janus and lured away from his life. One day, he will have to give his name to the fae, but if he can he wants to do it on his own terms. Fortunately for him, Janus seems willing to play along. Notes: Virgil has food issues and some serious problems with self-esteem, so tread carefully. There's also a strong undercurrent of mind-control in this, but it's mostly very soft. All the other sides are fae, and I love how well they're written as such.
When the Leaves Fall in Autumn (orphaned work) Faerie AU (Gen) Rating: T Remus is an Autumn fae who finds a human baby abandoned in the woods. Moved by unexpected impulse, he takes the child for his own. He doesn't understand it any better when another lost child moves him to action a second time, only that something in him has changed (and that, perhaps, he needs these children as much as they need him). Notes: Faerie adoption featuring Parental/Protective!Remus and tiny Virgil and Janus.
soft disturbance in the deadfall by Odaigahara Faerie/Soulmate (Logicality) Rating: T Young Patton doesn't think twice of giving his soulmate his name. A child of the fae, Logan doesn't think twice about taking the boy who was clearly meant to be his anyway. (Sequel) Deadfall Disturbance by alicat54c, Odaigahara Faerie/Soulmate AU (Logicality, Dukeceit, Prinxiety) Rating: G Virgil's younger brother Patton has been missing for almost a full year before an eccentric stranger appears, offering him the chance to bring his brother home. Notes: The original story is so good on its own, but the continuing sequel broadens the whole thing into something absolutely magical.
WIPs
Ethnoherpetology by Anonymous Faerie/Supernatural AU (Moceit) Rating: T Patton finds a friend in the enigmatic gentlemen that frequents the same bookstore, despite rumors tying him to the part of town where the magic folk live. (It isn't easy, working past ingrained prejudices and mistrust, but Patton wants to be better, so of course he's going to try.) Notes: Very good urban fantasy worldbuilding, with a few exciting surprises. And Patton's bumbling but earnest attempts at navigating a space he doesn't understand or feel comfortable in is both relatable and endearing. (This one is sadly unlikely to be completed since the comment replies are from a deleted account, but it's still a very good and worthwhile read.)

Last Monday of the Week 2025-01-20
Getting the juices flowing, wait, no, not that way
Listening: Atarashii Gakko! is a thrash rock girl group who do these incredibly convoluted and elaborate music videos, I think I saw Pineapple Kryptonite ages ago and forgot to look into them. Their new thing is Tokyo Calling which is a great high-energy song. Terrifically catchy.
youtube
Reading: Finished The Spear Cuts Through Water. I love some gay boys who only know how to express their love through punching.
Towards the end the focus of the story starts to slip in a way that works really well with the framing device of the Inverted Theater in which the whole story takes place, as the story slowly moves from being about the protagonists to being about the world they leave behind.
At times I found that the book slowed way, way down, and at other times it moves you through pages at a breakneck speed. The slow sections aren't bad but they could be a little frustrating.
This is very good at selling you the image of the Whole World Around You, between the constant snippets of external thought interjecting onto your story, and the casual way the story moves up and down layers of narrative, you get a very expansive and layered look at the world. Closing out the book by going into the acknowledgements with no warning was incredibly jarring and is such a cool trick to pull off this well.
Watching: Watched John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum while crashed on the couch trying to convince my slightly sick partner to eat more.
That's John Wick alright. Increasingly he doesn't have to say anything because we all know the deal. It's hard to get this kind of contextless context on mainstream media so it's cool that they can do it here.
As always: my conception of the people of this world is that they're the Faeries, they are the Seelie and Unseelie court, their world is layered on top of ours but basically never interacts except in extremis. There's a tiny bit of bleed through from normal organized crime but that's about it, otherwise they're simply too bizzare, their motivations too foreign. They clearly don't care about like. Real Money that much, they have their own currency that buys you seemingly Anything You Want, from the right guy.
Also watched American Psycho again after a long time. I forgot how much fun this movie is, he's so awful. The man has zero rizz!
Playing: I got my hands on a Lenovo Legion Go at a steep discount, so kicking the tyres on that. Mostly so far I watched my partner play through a few levels of Portal for the first time, which is fun! Truly one of the great games to watch someone play for the first time, even if they constantly badger you for hints.
It's a fascinating little device, shockingly powerful all things considered, I was extremely surprised despite knowing that it's basically a 1650 strapped to a lightweight performance AMD laptop chip. You can just run (low and change) Forza Horizon 5 on this!
I'm not used to controllers in 3D so I will probably stick to platformers and 2D RPG's and visual novels on this for the most part but it'll if nothing else serve as a platform I can plug a mouse and keyboard into and use as a spare PC if I want to do local multiplayer stuff at home. I want to work on a rig to make it an HTPC/gaming console type deal too.
Currently running Windows so I can get a feel for the expectations but it will get Bazzite'd at some point.
Making: Sketches and modelling to figure out some furniture. I found out that my hardware place does online cut-to-order plywood which is a huge boon for my project brain. I can cut wood at the makerspace in town and I still might, but you have to check what they have on hanger or order in some plywood which can get expensive fast once you add in saw time.
Trying to design a folding coffee table that turns into a side table when I'm not using it. I hate coffee tables but there are times when you need one. Current plan is oscillating between all wood or finally breaking down and buying a bunch of carbon fibre tubes to make something stupidly complicated.
This is pushing against not so much my skill level as much as my faff limit. Like. There was the option of doing this in brazed aluminium. But ideally I can do as much of this as possible at the free library makerspace and I don't want to deal with safely doing brazing at a library makerspace.
I also because I have brain worms want this to take down relatively small, because at all times I am thinking about Just Walking Out. Carbon tubes mean I can make it mostly slot and bolt together. Brass was an option but it's so expensive, and while aluminium tubes are an obvious choice I think they are simply piss ugly. I would genuinely do painted PVC first tbh.
Tools and Equipment: Caddy is a really neat project
I've used nginx for HTTP/S and CGI for many years but much of the Weague infrastructure runs on Caddy for simplicity. It's an HTTPS server with a very easy to use configuration structure, fully automatic HTTPS, that works even on local networks, and with a really solid plugin system for CGI. It is less performant than nginx but most of the time nginx is simply not your bottleneck. If you want your project to Just Work, whether that's static site hosting or a more complex application, Caddy is easy to deploy and low maintenance. No more hoping you get cron emails when your cert update fails!
Next time I run into an issue with my personal site infra that requires fixing by editing nginx.conf I'm probably just going to migrate to Caddy.

Stories aren't fully fleshed out yet, I don't think, but here's Twisted! Apollo and Artemis. Luca and Diane Sternwald!
They're Seers in the sense that their unique magic gives them prophetic visions of possible outcomes for the future, but only when they're asleep, and it's difficult to tell which is the dream and which is a prophecy. Diane has prophetic visions of good futures, while Luca specifically has bad visions. The first time he had one was about their faerie mother's death to a horde of direbeasts, but he thought it was just a nightmare until they were attacked in the forest one day. Diane was clever and was able to save herself and her brother, but Luca blames himself for not realizing he had seen the future and not being able to save their mother.
He has a lot of visions about NRC and the chaos that takes place there, but, growing up in the forest away from society, he doesn't... really know what NRC or Sage's Island is? It isn't until he gets two letters- one from Noble Bell College and Royal Sword Academy- that he realizes it's probably a college, and because the RSA letter specifically mentioned Sage's Island he chooses that school. Diane remains at home, however, guiding lost souls out of the forest and killing any dire beasts that try to approach.
They aren't complete visions. He mostly sees bits and pieces of the battles, a glimpse of the "villain" before the imagery pans away (not letting him see the face, just the clothes and maybe hears the voice) before cutting to the "bad" where he sees the most likely ways Eleanora could die in the battle.
For example... he doesn't see Overblot! Vil's face. Just the purple and black of the attire and his warped voice saying something before being cut off by the dream to go to the next sequence. However, if he sees Vil in his Pomefiore dorm uniform, he'll likely put two and two together and go, "AW, HELL, IT WAS THIS DUDE!??? HOW!??? WHAT SET HIM OFF!???"
That said, because Malleus is so closely connected to Eleanora, after arriving at RSA, Luca likely has a lot of Malleus visions where Malleus completely snaps because of how frequently and extremely Eleanora's life gets threatened, and so he's likely seeing all the ways Yandere Dragon! Malleus may lock Eleanora away. The horns are a dead give away, so he knows it's Malleus, and he is ON GUARD and so SO SUS of this dragon. The amount of visions he has of him snapping are just a testament to how much Malleus is actually restraining himself in reality during the events of the fic.
Luca will absolutely be joining the Leona, Idia, and Vil train of, "Seriously? THIS ONE??? Literally ANYONE ELSE would be better."
Though after a certain event, after Endless Night... the Malleus visions likely stop, which will both confuse him greatly and make him suspect the worst has happened, and THAT might be what has him sneak into NRC.... probably with Kusi, lol. Luca is probably friends with Kusiñawi, just because Kuzco was worshipped as an "incarnation" of the Incan sun god, and both would be absolutely INSUFFERABLE together.
Long story short, Luca and Diane see "potential outcomes". Diane sees the good possibilities and Luca sees the extremely bad.
.....If you've seen Undead + Unluck, Luca's relationship with Eleanora is kind of like Unknown towards Andy and Fuuko.

Hi Etta! Sorry if you already mentioned this, but where/how did you find your editors? (If you don't mind sharing)
Don't mind at all!
I know there are companies like Reedsy and the Writers Digest which have databases of editors, but that seemed really overwhelming. At the end of the day, the best way to get resources is to network (make friends, and hope their mutuals like you too).
Last year, I did an interview for Amanda Auler on Instagram and she boosted my account, so months later I ended up doing an interview for Addison Horner. He does editing for indie authors, so I asked him for a sample edit and liked it, but I wanted to get other points of comparison first, so I asked around and came up with a short list of editors. I contacted them, and when I had enough to compare, I ended up deciding I liked Addison best and drew up a contract with him. God moment that I found him so quickly.
But if I had to give this advice to someone else I'd recommend following these steps:
Read books in your genre. Read INDIE AUTHORS in your genre. Review their books. Follow them on social media. Be a friendly fan but don't make it weird.
Indie authors are one person publishing teams desperate for engagement and positive attention. They will thank you for your help and be willing to pay it forward when the time comes.
Once you have a handful of books you like that have similar vibes to your book, flip to the acknowledgements and find the editors name.
Google the editor, find their site, submit your inquiry, email works better than a form.
If you can't find the editor online, DM the indie author and ask "hey I really liked your book and it's a good comp title for my WIP. Who's your editor and what was your experience with them like? Do you mind pointing me their way?" Follow the author's advice. Repeat as needed.
(I've only ever received nice responses to this, don't be anxious. If they don't reply they're probably just busy, not annoyed).
When you contact editors, ask about their availability, rates, and be specific about what type of editing you need. Ask for a free sample edit. Mine were 250-2500 words.
Supply details about your WIP. Mine looked like this:
Title: Runaways
Genre: Middle Grade Portal Fantasy. I'm not labeling it as "Christian Fiction" as religion isn't a focus point of the story, but there are significant underlying Catholic themes.
Premise: When Cecelia goes missing one stormy Halloween night, her older sister, Hannah, must venture into the faerie courts to learn the truth about their past and bring her home. (Linked WIP Page with additional information)
Length: About 86,000 words, 180 pages (Times New Roman, 12pt, double spaced, standard 1in margins formatting). 21 chapters with an epilogue
Style: 3rd person limited, present tense. 3 POV characters: primarily Hannah at first, and then Cecelia and the third added later, alternating.
Status/Timeline/Availability: Currently with a 2nd round of beta readers, and I'll be getting feedback by March 31st. After editing the draft to reflect their feedback and doing my own line edits, I'll be looking for a line/copy edit around April/May or early summer.
Types of edits needed: As I understand, every editor uses "line" and "copy" edit slightly differently, but I'm looking for a combination of both styles if possible: checking for internal consistency, logical choreography, adequate descriptions, minor plot or worldbuilding errors, as well as language concerns like cutting crutch words, making sentence structure more dynamic, choosing the right verbs, etc. Developmental editing not needed. Waiting to do proofreading at the moment
When perusing at the editors site, look for credentials/certifications, their backlog of works, and testimonials
If you don't have enough options following this method, join some discord servers! I'm in a local NaNoWriMo group and a Catholic Writers Guild called Inkwells and Anvils which were both useful. I think there might be some writeblr ones as well. Find the critiques channel and send the same information there^^
Compare sample edits. Who respects your voice? Who supplied the most insightful comments? Do you vibe over email? Are they willing to do a stylesheet? Do they like your book? Can you set up a 15 minute zoom call to see if you vibe and discuss details?
Look at prices. My rate is $.015 a word but that's pretty cheap for the industry. Most of the rates I saw publicly were between $.02-.03/word for line editing.
Pray/sleep on it
Once you pick your best option, set a date to send them the manuscript, sign contracts, and make payment.
Send a polite email to the other editors and say "I regret to say you're not quite the right fit for this book, but I appreciate all your time, help, and advice! I hope to work with you in the future" or something along those lines. Don't burn your bridges.
Celebrate!
This whole process took me a couple weeks, everyone was very punctual and professional and friendly. I ended up going with Addison not only because he was the cheapest but also because he made 3X the number of comments as any other writer, and his comments were specific and useful. He understood my characters immediately, I think in part because his writing style is similar to mine, based on his debut novel, Marrow and Soul. We're both Christians who like YA dark fantasy. It's a good match. He's still taking clients for later in the year if that's your vibes. I also worked with Amber Burdett and Sariah Solomon, who were both lovely.
I wish you the best of luck finding an editor who fits your story! I hope this was helpful and not overly long.

I hope you know that I’m ecstatic to be following your blog, because I have epic amounts of Pink City brain rot and seeing anyone say anything about it always makes my serotonin spike. like, your recent post about no one watching the other pink city stuff is SO real. I wanna know more about Elain, I wanna know what’s up with The Elders Of The Lost Eyes. What in the actual hell is up with the profession of Bounty Hunter?
No one I’ve seen has ever mentioned that clowns are a Species with gameshow stomachs who can choose to just die if the moment is funny enough. We have No information on some characters and have to make it ourselves or come off anon and rarely ask Goose for info. I’m holding up criminals like Gop and Nuzzner and wondering what in the hell is going on with P.C’s legal system (only bounty hunter enforced iirc) that these guys are both considered the ‘hunt this guy down with guns’ kind of criminals.
Vondu has PTSD. There was a fucking war at some point, and it looks BAD. Ghosts exist and can range from “typical ghost, maybe a bit annoying” to “makes you sick” to “steals the name of a loved ones and never returns it to you”; a celebrity actively On Air clearly shows signs of having a run in with the last one, no one mentions it. No one talks about how Ghosts are a thing.
I’m begging for more people to talk about Pink City
HOLY. WAY TO ENCAPSULATE HOW I'VE FELT ABOUT THIS SERIES FOR THE YEARS SINCE I DISCOVERED IT. LOTS AND LOTS OF YAP BELOW CUT
I THINK I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY THIS AS THE BIGGEST DARLY BOXMAN FAN LITERALLY TO EXIST EVER BUT IT REALLLLYYYYY PISSES ME OFF SOMETIMES THAT HE'S THE TARGET OF ALMOST ALL OF THE CURRENT ATTENTION ON THE SERIES, AND MOST NEW FANS ONLY CARE ABOUT HIM FOR LIKE 2 SECONDS ANYWAY. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO THIS WORLD THAN DARLY, AND I SO DESPERATELY YEARN FOR LITERALLY ANY LOOK INTO WHERE THE STORY'S GONNA GO.
I LOVE DIGITAL CIRCUS, I REALLY DO, BUT HAVING TO WAIT HOWEVER LONG UNTIL GOOSE PICKS PC BACK UP (PROBABLY AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO) IS THE EQUIVALENT OF SLOW ROASTING MY AUTISM OVER A FIRE PIT. THIS IS TORTURE, MAN!!!!!!
WE KNOW FUCKING NOTHING OF WALLOWAD ENTERTAINMENT BEYOND DARLES, HOONIS AND I GUESS BEP, AND I'VE ALREADY BASED, LIKE, A CHUNK OF MY INTERNET PRESENCE ON IT. NOBODY TALKS ABOUT ANY OF THE TARGET BUDDY CRIMINALS, NOR THE IMPLICATIONS THEIR "CRIMES" HAVE FOR THE PINK CITY LEGAL SYSTEM IN GENERAL. ACCORDING TO HOOKS MCGIRTH'S RECORD, HE'S WANTED FOR "SEXUAL THEMES", WHICH ARE PRESUMABLY ILLEGAL??? THEN??? WHICH IS AN INCREDIBLY FUNNY IMPLICATION CONSIDERING NONE OF THEM EVEN HAVE THE ANATOMY FOR THAT KINDA THING. NOT TO MENTION FUCKINF. WHAT IS WRONG W YUSTER AND MILKPOOCH. AFAIK THE ONLY ANIMALS WE'VE SEEN IN THE SERIES BESIDES THE CROWS. AND BOTH OF THEM ARE SEEMINGLY CAPABLE OF COMMUNICATION? DARLY CAN UNDERSTAND MILKPOOCH, AND YUSTER LITERALLY JUST TALKS. WHO LET THEM DO THAT.
CLOWNS AND GHOSTS ARE BOTH INTERESTING TO ME IN THE SENSE OF, LIKE. I'D GO AS FAR AS TO SAY THEY'RE ALMOST A SEPERATE SPECIES FROM THE REST OF THE SHAPE PEOPLE. PC GHOSTS ARE MORE AKIN TO CRYPTIDS IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE (LIKE VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, DEMONS, ETC) AND CLOWNS HAVE WHATEVER'S GOING ON WITH THEM. CLOWN DNA AND WHAT NOT. THOUGHT FAERIES ARE TOUCHED ON LITERALLY ONCE IN DENTO TAKES THE STAIRS AND WE HAVE NOT SEEN THEM SINCE. APPARENTLY EVERYONE HAS THEM. THEY JUST DO THAT
ALSO KNOWING THAT VONDU IS *YOUNGER* THAN DARLES NEMENI MEANS THAT DARLES WAS AROUND FOR THE WAR AS WELL AND I THINK THAT COULD HAVE SOME POTENTIALLY WILD IMPLICATIONS. DARLY BOXMAN BEING CREATED OR CONCEPTUALIZED DURING WARTIME.
SINCE YOU'VE BEEN FOLLOWING MY BLOG FOR A WHILE, I'LL ASSUME YOU'VE SEEN THAT POST I MADE ABOUT ELAIN POTENTIALLY HAVING BRAIN DAMAGE. THAT'S STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE THEORIES.
I'VE BEEN ABLE TO QUELL A LOT OF MY UNREST AND URGES TO TEAR AT THE WALLS OF MY HOUSE AND HOME BY WORKING ON THE LOVELY MIRAHEZE WIKI (WHICH I ALSO GOT UP AND RUNNING IN THE FIRST PLACE). IF THAT'S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING TO. I'D SAY THERE'S STILL A GOOD BIT LEFT TO DO, ESPECIALLY INVOLVING LIKE. CSS AND WHATNOT. WE HAVE A SERVER BUT IT'S PRETTY DEAD BECAUSE EVERYONE BESIDES ME AND MY FRIENDS HAVE PRETTY MUCHED STOPPED CARING. SAD. WHAT CAN YOU DO?
THANKS FOR SENDING IN SUCH A LOVELY ASK, AND ALSO GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO INFODUMP A LITTLE BIT TOO. I ENJOYED READING WHAT YOU HAD TO SAY AS WELL o^_^o

moonlight ray cookie's vanilla kingdom arc: part one
Tumblr media
um! moonlight has been spinning in my brain at incredibly high speeds pretty much since the day i've created them, soo. here's some of their lore! as the title suggests, it's about the time they've spend in vanilla kingdom - or, well, part of this time; mostly the events, even though i could (and will) talk so much about their dynamic with pure vanilla and other characters, but i will need separate posts for that hahah
as you will probably be able to see, this is still a wip! though i have a lot of stuff figured out, some other still needs work! so please bear with me and also if you have anything to say.pls lmk i love talking about ocs hehehehehe
also this is a looong post. be warned. SHDHD
divider by @/saradika-graphics

♡ first; moonlight comes from a made-up kingdom (possibly……… a new continent? but i shall see), because i realized im unstoppable 🤭🤭🤭. this kingdom (or kingdoms? the more i think about the worldbuilding i want to do, the bigger it grows) is mostly inspired by,, celestial bodies and weather and the hm… kind? of cookies that live there are codenamed celestial cookies for now; one of their main characteristics are wings, though they look different from, for example, faeries in beast yeast! more… bird. or angel-like, i suppose. and that's how moonlight's wings look like! though i think they're just plain white wings
♡ moonlight's kingdom is located far to the north! isolating itself a bit, but not quite enough to the point where they would be completely unaware of things that are going on, so obviously they know about ancient heroes and such. (this is a bit relevant but i'll talk about it more in a bit!)
♡ now, as for why moonlight leaves their kingdom, that… will remain a secret for now 🤭 (< is still in the process of figuring it out.) one of the ideas is that they were… forced to leave in one way or antoher; which kind of sucks, because they're maybe eighteen when it happens! or a little younger than that, actually - though a few months at best! baseline is, though, that they leave in… somewhat of a hurry, and without a real, solid plan. their goal is to get away from home and - they succeed; and since they aren't enitrely sure where they should go from there, they suppose they can… travel for a while.
♡ it's… odd, but almost… freeing, in a way? it's quite a new feeling, something they aren't used to and what is also, admittedly, kind of scary, but - surprisingly fun, as they soon discover; even if they very much try to not draw attenion to themselves, and stay in the background, as they've always done back at home. the fun only lasts, however, until they end up damaging one of their wings.
♡ they likely… pull a muscle, or something similar, if that can be said in the context of cookies (though tbf all of these character are in their more or less humanized versions in my head 95% of the time); and it would be all good if they weren't in a - seemingly - rather desolate area. namely, they arrive in the… ah, the area near the clastle in the sky; perhaps near the village where raisin cookie along with the others used to live (i'm not sure if that would still count as vanilla kingdom's territory or no). they're… quite tired, obviously so; they're thinking of taking a break, even though the place seems abandoned, but then, they run into someone.
♡ i think they would arrive in a… sort of in-between moment; after the vanilla kingdom part in the main story ends, but before the gingerbrave & co set out to meet with other ancient heroes - and custard cookie iii and chili pepper presumably return to 'their' kingdom (aka, the player's kingdom). and that's also who moonlight meets! at the very least it's gingerbrave and chili pepper, though i wouldn't be surprised if it was still the entire gang; since these kids (and chili pepper, who is probably older than them) run around everywhere anyway.
♡ of course; both sides have quite a few questions for each other, until chili pepper points out that something seems to be wrong with moonlight's wing - and also kinda keeps eyeing moonlight's staff, but to that moonlight only grips it a little bit tighter and gives her a 'don't even think of it' look, though they are very much not sure if they would put up a fight if chili pepper did try something. the most likely answer is "no".
♡ to chili pepper's remark gingerbrave suggests they take moonlight to pure vanilla - he's such a good healer, surely he'll be able to help them! and moonlight needs to take a small pause, because - wait, hold on, pure vanilla cookie? this pure vanilla cookie, yes? and when they get the confirmation that yes, indeed, they're talking about the ancient hero, they panic a little; and of course they are ressured that oh, they don't have to worry, he's very nice, he won't mind! but they're also thrown off by the fact that these kids talk about him in such a casual manner, like they were friends. still - this way, moonlight ends up in the city in the sky.
♡ of course, it turns out that gingerbrave & co were telling the truth; pure vanilla insists that it is no problem at all, yes, he can help, it won't take long and it won't be troublesome to fix their wing - and manages to convince moonlight. though, after moonlight's wing is healed, the two go through the whole thing again - this time, it's because pure vanilla can see that they're, ultimately, very tired, and invites them to stay there for a while and rest, and moonlight once again doesn't want to cause trouble. they do stay; at that moment, though, they don't really think they are going to stay for good.
♡ and… a day of rest is about all they get, before they decide they can't just sit around and do nothing; at the time they arrive there, the kingdom is still largely being rebuilt, and because of that moonlight feels bad just doing nothing, (even though no one is putting any pressure on them) - but it also means it's very easy for them to find something to do, as any help is appreciated. and they're all fine now, really! they doon't need that much rest. which is… not entirely true, as they tend to overwork themselves a lot; that goes unnoticed until a while later though.
♡ this turns into a day or two more of them staying in the kingdom, then a week, then two - though, before the two week mark they get approached by pure vanilla again; partly because he wants to make sure they aren't overexerting themselves, partly because he wants to thank them for the hard work they have been already putting in into helping everyone restoring the kingdom. they are very much not used to receiving this kind of… appreciation, but it… feels nice.
♡ they eventually end up staying in the vanilla kingdom for good; they realize they… actually feel nice here, and oh, they… are appreciated for their skills and abilities? something that almost never happened at home? on a slightly different note, they also discover they… seem to be quite good in the role of a mediator! though, all of that is not nearly enough for them to overcome their many… troubles, that only start coming to light to the residents of the vanilla kingdom (particularly pure vanilla cookie) after moonlight spends a while there. though, to be honest; pure vanilla likely knows right from the start that something is up with this one.
♡ speaking of pure vanilla; their… friendship also develops! friendship/mentor-apprentice relationship, though it's not exactly that, either; at the very least moonlight definitely would not say they're this important at this point, even though they clearly are important. pure vanilla values their opinion on things, too, given they've proven themselves to be a keen and careful observer. and i could ramble about their dynamic so much more, but i'm gonna leave that for another post, because this one is already incredibly long
♡ as for any meetings! moonlight does not even dream of taking part in anything ever aside from the preparations, unless pure vanilla invites them to join something and then manages to convince them.
♡ and this finally brings us to the cookie odyssey, which is! moonlight's first time actually meeting the other ancient heroes! including my ancient hero oc but i'll talk about them in a different post heheh. also about moonlight's dynamics with all of them, but the one thing i'll say is that at first, moonlight tries to avoid them; they're kinda scared! they're intimdated! what if they mess up!

WIP Wednesday
One of my favorite ripple effects of the Calanmai-bond-acceptance plot in we said hello and your eyes look like coming home is Rhys getting introduced to Nesta and Elain as Feyre's mate/their new brother-in-law, rather than as the High Lord Feyre's working for. Last time Feyre's sisters saw her, she was kidnapped by Tamlin, so they're definitely in for a shock when she comes home happily mated to Rhys <3
"I saw that look on your face when Elain asked if you'd met someone at Aunt Ripleigh's. She and Father don't remember that beast taking you away, but I do. Tell me what the hell is going on, Feyre," Nesta said.
I stilled. She'd seen through Tamlin's glamour somehow, probably just because Nesta's mind was so thoroughly her own that he couldn't have violated it. And if a High Lord hadn't been able to fool her, I shuddered to think what she'd made of the sentries Rhys had sent, who were supposed to have been unseen by human eyes.
Nesta could keep a secret, so there was no point in hiding the bond from her, too. I pulled the chain with my mating band out from where I'd tucked it under the bodice of my dress. "I did meet someone in Prythian."
"You're married." The disbelief in her voice shouldn't have stung as much as it did. Nesta had never made a secret of how thoroughly she doubted any man would ever find me an acceptable bride.
"In a manner of speaking. The fae either marry or mate if the Cauldron blessed them with a soul-bound partner. I have a mate. Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court."
Nesta barked a harsh, bitter laugh. I didn't know what to make of it until she said, shaking her head in disbelief, "Mother expected me to marry a prince, but you're the one who's ensnared a faerie king and become his consort."
"I didn't ensnare—"
"Then what? He forced you?"
"No!" Cauldron boil and fry me, I had no idea how to look my sister in the eye and tell her a magical stag had done it. Nesta just crossed her arms and stared me down, waiting for an explanation. She said nothing because she didn't have to—there was pure command in just the way she held herself. I took a breath and continued, "Rhys loves me, and I love him. He isn't the one who took me. That was Tamlin, the High Lord of Spring. Rhys got me out and took me somewhere safe. It's a long story, but yes, I am Lady of the Night Court now."
