On the flipside, oh damn, Yeah Vriska’s going full throttle right on the nose ahead with the obvious audience expectation, that there gonna make another sburb session and get the obvious group of important 4 kids to god tier

that’s clearly the path vriska wants and expects, but hey, just imagine if what Vriska wanted to happen didn’t happen this time, imagine if the kids were just like “nah im good?” when it comes to a god tier

The narrative is making it super clear that at least 3 out 4 kids are kinda not feeling all the outdoorsy action and excitement of a game of life and death

Annie though I could hella see her down to play sburb and get a god tier, shes got that whole “isolated childhood trauma and parental issues pressure cooking her a strong will to take her life into her own hands” energy

Vriska, go see Annie, her strong willed butt is more of the action girl you’re looking for I think

At least if they do end up playing the game and getting the tiger, Annie feels like the first one to do it or the action catalyst of their session, like how Vriska was for hers, or Dirk for the alphas, or

hmm. who was is that kinda, moved things along for the Beta’s again? I think it was Rose, but Dave did a ton to move things along as well, but also their trolls like Terezi and them gave everything big nudges, I think Rose counts as the equivalent Beta in session mover and shaker though

he never really got to sit and think about the hole where his home was that the meteor struck when he entered sburb huh? (I know his house came with him, giving the allusion all was well in the Medium, but a real meteor still struck the place that he stopped existing on OG Earth, to an outside observer, it would look like a meteor destroyed his home)

(part 1) this is random but something im curious about is do you think the next few years will see a radical shift in more lead lgbt couples in shows? i feel like when supernatural started it was all about subtext/queerbating between characters we would never see canon (maybe), the last few years have seen an update in more side lgbt characters/couples and while not a lot, more main lgbt characters then we had before. I don't know if tumblr/twitter fandom translates to general audience...

Yeah, I mean, the only way is up. I feel lucky that I managed to encounter a fair amount of queer content in my formative years, whether targeted programming on TV, or taking the route of not really differentiating the perceived cultural value of independent media like webcomics and webnovels etc from the mass media as I was young enough to naturally grow up on the internet as the internet itself was growing up and web 2.0 was pretty much taking off alongside my use of the internet. And that I had liberal parents who didn’t regulate our internet, and lived in a community where culturally I didn’t really fear being discovered casually accessing all this like in particularly this terrifying seeming evangelical christian community in America.

Which really makes me feel like A: everyone should feel that comfortable in themselves via the media as I did as a mass accessible thing or B: that the world at large should be soaked in as much representation and more that I encountered as a curious teen because at the very least it did me no harm and at best helped handhold me through an awful lot. 

And then brings us to the problem that the world isn’t actually like that and for a lot of people their media is restricted one way or another, from everything such as the era of social media weirdly making us much LESS broadly travelled on the internet as I was back in the day (SO many bookmarks - I had like 100 that I would check either daily or on their weekly update schedule, with enough habit that I had pretty much memorised it all without using an RSS feed or just following everyone’s twitter and waiting for update announcements, never mind the vast pit of things which I occasionally checked to see if their sporadic but very worth it updates had occurred somewhere in the last month/year) to the vastly overwhelming amount of media accessible to us. It seems almost to flood the market and creates this panic about watching the worthiest shows and campaigning for them and raising awareness and the FOMO and how things slip by and zomg you have to watch this that and the other, when even just making this list on Netflix now contains more hours of TV than a human lifetime and also one liable to disappear from the service at some point or another without warning. 

And then on top of that you have the absolute cultural monoliths that if you’re not going to have a cohesive culture - which now includes the entire population of the world because of our connectivity on the internet and mass-joining of services - based around smaller shows and stuff, then at the very least everyone is going to watch anything under the main Disney umbrella, other superhero flicks, animated things, and all the really big studio franchises and remakes, as well as a few TV monoliths which manage to get enough people talking to make it seem like “everyone” (again - these days it seems like that’s presumed to be the entire western world plus everywhere else these things air) are watching, like Game of Thrones or whatever… THESE properties are the inescapable ones and on that basis they’re the things we have to lean on the most for representation and then again barely get any, when it comes to gender and sexuality, due to them shooting for such worldwide markets that they can’t imply gay people exist to censors in places such as China. And it exposes the cultural awfulness inherent just in getting a white female character in the lead role of some things, or the absolute garbage fire lurking underneath that if you dare have a black stormtrooper or make one of your female ghostbusters black when you’re already ruining the childhoods of so many how dare… 

In those respects, having side characters who aren’t even major well-known superheroes or jedis or ghostbusters or whatever also be gay (because even well-known lesbian Kate McKinnon didn’t manage to get her ghostbuster to be canonically gay even if we All Knew) would be absolutely groundbreaking, even if it was, like, a role that could be snipped out for the Chinese market or something. And that’s probably exactly what would happen, and cue ensuing riot from whichever fandom, along with everyone rightly pointing out that even for us who got to watch it it was still a tiny side character… I mean Disney is still at the stage of what they did with Beauty and the Beast’s ~canonical gay character~ 

So yeah… that’s thrown back to TV and smaller movies to lead the way and because the generations showing most likely the real global percentages but actually just the young western world stats on queerness in any form (like… 25% instead of 1% or whatever and that’s STILL probably too low) are still teens to young adults. The previous gayest generation above them are still just arriving in power and settling in, and the excellent changes we already have from the generation before that is what we are seeing now... But given THEIR cultural context, even their best can still seem to younger eyes, moderate and not generally placing queer characters in lead roles except in niche or indie or otherwise “acceptable” places to take those risks. I think change is always coming and culturally each generation being more open and accepting that the last is really making changes and so on, hopefully things WILL change rapidly and what was the common state of affairs in the sort of indie media I consumed as a teen will be the mainstream soon because a lot of those creators 10 years later are kicking off… 

All that said, TV in the mainstream is still controlled by Mark Pedowitz types exercising their power over the Bobos who have their Wayward Sisters pitches with the clearly labelled main character for the main teen demographic being queer. The culture is very much that we’re now pretty open and can happily have queer characters, but the main characters are still largely held separate. A good example is Riverdale, which is on the CW, a newer show with writers such as Britta Lundin, who is young, queer, and wrote a novel blatantly based on being a Destiel shipper and fan interacting with the cast and crew in fandom spaces, and whose first solo episode of Riverdale featured a looooot of the gay stuff (yay). 

But while she’s a story editor and writer for the show and can use it as a platform for writing stories for its audience using a whole range of canonically queer characters, the show still keeps all 4 of its mains at a strict remove from this. Cheryl can come out as a lesbian in the second season after a lil ho yay in the first but no clearly marked storyline about her identity, but even though Betty and Veronica kissed in the first episode it was blatant fan service (for Cheryl in-story, lol) and mostly just set the tone that they are the sort of seemingly straight girls kissing for attention while having strong romantic or physical attraction to guys. In the second season the kiss comes up again in joking that Jughead and Archie are the only ones of the main 4 who haven’t kissed, Archie gets one planted on him by a dude as a “judas kiss” moment of betrayal in season 3 and he and Jug are teased that they were expected to get together because they were close but in the same sort of homophobic undercurrent tones as early Destiel snarking from side characters, seemingly less about their relationship and more to unsettle them with implications… I mean it was a complicated moment but in the long run it didn’t seem entirely pleasant to me, especially given the overall emotional state they were in and later plot etc etc. (My mum is 1000% invested in Riverdale now as a former Archie Comics reader as a kid so this is now my life too as I was in the room when my brother callously exposed her to it, hi :P) 

Anyway that’s just one case study but aside from SPN it’s probably the most mainstream teen demographic thing I watch… Other examples would be things like B99 which had Rosa come out as bi and that’s awesome, and made us all cry a lot, but Jake, the clear main character even in a very strong and well-treated ensemble, has a great deal of bi subtext, there’s no way given Andy Samberg’s apparent habit of ad-libbing MORE progressive jokes that he’d ever be intentionally harming people if that’s how his brain works (you know, like other people quick-fire offensive stuff from their mouth working faster than brain sense of humour :P). But at the same time for all Jake’s quipping about crushes and such and the fact the show clearly knows how to be sensitive to bisexuality with Stephanie Beatriz being a strong advocate, just because Jake’s the main character and adorably married to Amy. In NO WAY can that be threatened because they’re SO GOOD, so there’s STILL uncertainty that this will pay off in the same special episode “I love my wife but I am bi” kinda way that seems obvious that could just be said. We all carry on without it affecting anything because obviously Jake’s found his soulmate so we don’t mess with that but they should know it’s important to clarify it… Even with B99′s track record, I’m nervous solely because Jake’s the main character and main characters tend not to get self-exploratory arcs about latent queerness and ESPECIALLY not if they���re happily married. If ANY show was going to do it right and trailblaze in this exact era it would be them, but… gyah :P 

Anyway I guess the conclusion right now is that the more mainstream you are the more uncertain it feels, but we are right at that cliff edge, especially with shows putting in SOME of the work. If B99 doesn’t get us there (or the Good Place where they’ll happily confirm Eleanor is bi in interviews but I believe she hasn’t said it outright on the show despite clearly showing attraction to female characters, again, the denials we know so well in SPN fandom reflect a wider audience view of dismissing this stuff as jokes and not reflective of character feeling and identification without a Special Episode dedicated to confirming it >.>) then we’re very clearly on the cusp of SOME mainstream or massively well-known show doing it at least once in a meaningful way that has an Ellen-style cultural impact on TV writing. 

Let’s make it a goal for 2019 or 2020, and hope that a NEW show with a canonically queer main from the start is pitched and becomes a mainstream hit in the next 5… Still got a ways to go before Disney level mainstream but again there IS work going pushing the envelope, especially if we get a movie of a franchise such as idk Further Legends of Korra, or Steven Universe or something else that’s massively pushed the envelope with sexuality or gender for their main character on the small screen in the experimental petri dish they’ve had there for children’s TV. Something that would force Disney to blink about a lesbian princess or Star Wars to let Finn and Poe kiss or Marvel to let Steve and Bucky hold hands or something in order to remain relevant.

Once the Big Cultural Monoliths get in on it, I expect culture as a whole to first of all react quickly on the small screen, but honestly I’ve been waiting for them to snap pretty much my whole life since adolescence and they’re taking such wee tiny baby steps, and some factors are enormous geopolitical awfulness, that the story as a whole is unpredictable and we can only really hope that things don’t slow down. 

(Where this affects SPN is just impossible to say right now, given its almost unique position in this mess due to longevity vs fandom vs almost entirely new generation of writers’ room)

.Traveling Circus: Sword swallowing, knife juggling fire blowing, card tricks, and fortune telling were his gig’s while in service to the circus. He doesn’t like to talk about that part of his life, but someone is bound to recognize him from that part of his life (Ages 10 to 22).

. Fortune Teller: He reads fortunes for profit where he can, it’s an easy to use skill that he was able to pick up from his time in the circus. Readings can be done via all mediums for RP.

.Void Research: He’s secretly been researching the void and voidsent regarding a disease that hit his small “village” when he was a child, taking his siblings and leaving him the only survivor of the disease. Secrets don’t stay secret long though, and surely someone is bound to hear about his research. He’s mainly looking into the disease to see what it entails for those who survive it, and when and what reasons it popped up before in the past. He’s currently trying to link the disease to whatever voidsent it’s derived from. Additionally, this may make him set some with sensitivities or voidsent off given it did impact his physiological makeup.

. Corrupted Aether: Due to the disease he suffered from in his childhood, if you’re able to sense aether it’s likely you can tell that he has a large amount, and that it’s not normal.

. Distrust of Conjurers: He has a distrust of conjurers as they couldn’t make it to his village to help him or his siblings when disease took hold. He also has a dislike of Kan-e Senna as a result. Aura Conjurers are safe from his distrust however. He’s prone to glaring at Conjurers as a result, and often doesn’t realize it.

. World’s Oldest Profession: Maybe you’ve hired him for his services before, he isn’t taking anyone recently as his fortune telling career is treating him better and Nezh’a is very prone to crashing his engagements and ruining them.

. Clan Runaway: Are you a Bajhiri? You may have heard about his siblings deaths, or how he left his poor mother alone when she needed help most. Either way, he’ll likely be aloof around you and try to avoid the subject of his family as much as possible, but may try to probe for information on how the clan is doing.

Discord and Tumblr are preferable, just because at times my depression or anxiety kicks my butt and gives me low energy. Which by extension means that I may be a little slow on replies because energy and focus are fickle weird things. I am much newer to in game RP, but have been RPing via forums and table top for a cumulative ten or so years.

· I live in Arizona, so in Winter I’m on MST and in Summer PDT. To us, daylight savings is fake.

·  I work retail currently, and that means my schedule isn't consistent. As it is now I have Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday off consistently. I usually play DnD on Monday and Saturday nights typically.

What I’m Looking For and Rules ––––

I’m looking for people who are okay with characters changing. As such Una’to is set up with a kind of dating sim route where those around him influence the end of this chapter in his life and how he ends up. That means there are varying levels of good ends and bad ends, with the extremes being the end goal regardless, as people can continue to influence his rise or fall as a person. The more people who are good and convince him to be less jaded, the better off he is for a good end. The more people who are trying to corrupt and use him because of his past with voidsent? The closer he gets to a bad end. 

I’m not looking to ERP. We will both just feel awkward and disappointed more than anything, just because I will be as lost as can be. If it does happen we can try and see what happens, but I want it to be story motivated. Additionally, shipping is not one of my big concerns regarding Una’to. If it happens it happens, but at present I’m not going to push for it. I mean... LOOK AT HIM.

Please don’t try to kill my muse physically. Like, I’m going to put that final nail in the coffin when I so wish. Think he should have some marks left from an interaction, talk to be about it first. You don’t get to decide what changes occur to my character on my half simple as that.

Given he is a character that has darker themes, I ask that all interested in RPing with Una’to be 18+. No offense to minors, I’m just covering my bases here. I’m also quite a bit older than eighteen now, any my comfort for minors interacting with darker things, especially ones that I’m contributing to, is that I would prefer we’re both adults.

Google has seven services with more than a billion users

Google's infrastructure provides cryptographic privacy and integrity for remote procedure called data-on-the-network, which is how Google services communicate with each other.

how can I make sure I don't accidentally run up a big GCP bill? GCP provides four tools to help: budgets and alerts, billing, export, reports and quotas.

When you run your workloads in GCP, you use projects to organize them. You use Google Cloud Identity, and Access Management, also called IM, or IAM to control who can do what. And you use your choice of several interfaces to connect.

You may find it easiest to understand the GCP resource hierarchy from the bottom up. All the resources you use, whether they're virtual machines, cloud storage buckets, tables and big query or anything else in GCP are organized into projects. Optionally, these projects may be organized into folders. Folders can contain other folders. All the folders and projects used by your organization can be brought together under an organization node. Projects, folders and organization nodes are all places where the policies can be defined. Some GCP resources let you put policies on individual resources too, like those cloud storage buckets I mentioned.

IAM lets administrators authorize who can take action on specific resources. An IAM policy has a "who" part, a "can do what" part, and an "on which resource" part. The "who" part names the user or users you're talking about. The "who" part of an IAM policy can be defined either by a Google account, a Google group, a Service account, an entire G Suite, or a Cloud Identity domain. The "can do what" part is defined by an IAM role. An IAM role is a collection of permissions. Most of the time, to do any meaningful operations, you need more than one permission. 

Compute Engines InstanceAdmin Role lets whoever has that role perform a certain set of actions on virtual machines. The actions are: listing them, reading and changing their configurations, and starting and stopping them. And which virtual machines? Well, that depends on where the roles apply. 

There are four ways you can interact with Google Cloud Platform, and we'll talk about each in turn: the Console, the SDK and Cloud Shell, the Mobile App and the APIs.

Say you want a quick way to get started with GCP with minimal effort. That's what Google Cloud Launcher provides. It's a tool for quickly deploying functional software packages on Google Cloud Platform. There's no need to manually configure the software, virtual machine instances, storage or network settings. Although, you can modify many of them before you launch if you like. Most software packages in Cloud Launcher are at no additional charge beyond the normal usage fees for GCP resources. 

Of all the ways you can run workloads in the cloud, Virtual Machines may be the most familiar. Compute Engine lets you run virtual machines on Google's global infrastructure. 

Compute Engine lets you create and run virtual machines on Google infrastructure. There are no upfront investments and you can run thousands of virtual CPUs on a system that is designed to be fast and to offer consistent performance. You can create a virtual machine instance by using the Google Cloud Platform console or the GCloud command line tool. Your VM can run Linux and Windows Server images provided by Google or customized versions of these images, and you can even import images for many of your physical servers. 

Much like physical networks, VPCs have routing tables. These are used to forward traffic from one instance to another instance within the same network. Even across sub-networks and even between GCP zones without requiring an external IP address. VPCs routing tables are built in, you don't have to provision or manage a router. 

Every application needs to store data, maybe media to be streamed or censor data from devices or customer account balances, or maybe the fact that my Dragonite has more than 2600 CP. Different applications and workloads required different storage database solutions. 

Let's start with Google Cloud Storage. What's object storage? It's not the same as file storage, in which you manage your data as a hierarchy of folders. It's not the same as block storage, in which your operating system manages your data as chunks of disk. Instead, object storage means you save to your storage here, you keep this arbitrary bunch of bytes I give you and the storage lets you address it with a unique key. That's it. Often these unique keys are in the form of URLs which means object storage interacts nicely with Web technologies. Cloud Storage works just like that, except better. It's a fully managed scalable service. That means that you don't need to provision capacity ahead of time. Just make objects and the service stores them with high durability and high availability. You can use Cloud Storage for lots of things: serving website content, storing data for archival and disaster recovery, or distributing large data objects to your end users via Direct Download. Cloud Storage is not a file system because each of your objects in Cloud Storage has a URL. Each feels like a file in a lot of ways and that's okay to use the word "file" informally to describe your objects, but still it's not a file system. You would not use Cloud Storage as the root file system of your Linux box. Instead, Cloud Storage is comprised of buckets you create and configure and use to hold your storage objects. The storage objects are immutable, which means that you do not edit them in place but instead you create new versions. Cloud Storage always encrypts your data on the server side before it is written to disk and you don't pay extra for that. Also by default, data in-transit is encrypted using HTTPS. Speaking of transferring data, there are services you can use to get large amounts of data into Cloud Storage conveniently. 

Cloud Storage lets you choose among four different types of storage classes: Regional, Multi-regional, Nearline, and Coldline. 

Here's how to think about them. Multi-regional and Regional are high-performance object storage, whereas Nearline and Coldline are backup and archival storage. That's why I placed that heavy dividing line between these two groups. All of the storage classes are accessed in comparable ways using the cloud storage API and they all offer millisecond access times. Now, let's talk about how they differ. Regional storage lets you store your data in a specific GCP region: US Central one, Europe West one or Asia East one. It's cheaper than Multi-regional storage but it offers less redundancy. Multi-regional storage on the other hand, cost a bit more but it's Geo-redundant. That means you pick a broad geographical location like the United States, the European Union, or Asia and cloud storage stores your data in at least two geographic locations separated by at least 160 kilometers. Multi-regional storage is appropriate for storing frequently accessed data. For example, website content, interactive workloads, or data that's part of mobile and gaming applications. People use regional storage on the other hand, to store data close to their Compute Engine, virtual machines, or their Kubernetes engine clusters. That gives better performance for data-intensive computations. Nearline storage is a low-cost, highly durable service for storing infrequently accessed data.

We already discussed one GCP NoSQL database service: Cloud Bigtable. Another highly scalable NoSQL database choice for your applications is Cloud Datastore. One of its main use cases is to store structured data from App Engine apps. 

We've already discussed Compute Engine, which is GCPs Infrastructure as a Service offering, which lets you run Virtual Machine in the cloud and gives you persistent storage and networking for them,and App Engine, which is one of GCP's platform as a service offerings. Now I'm going to introduce you to a service called Kubernetes Engine. It's like an Infrastructure as a Service offering in that it saves you infrastructure chores. It's also like a platform as a service offering, in that it was built with the needs of developers in mind. 

So we've discussed two GCP products that provide the compute infrastructure for applications: Compute Engine and Kubernetes Engine. What these have in common is that you choose the infrastructure in which your application runs. Based on virtual machines for Compute Engine and containers for Kubernetes Engine. But what if you don't want to focus on the infrastructure at all? You just want to focus on your code. That's what App Engine is for.

GCP provides Deployment Manager to let you do just that. It's an Infrastructure Management Service that automates the creation and management of your Google Cloud Platform resources for you. To use it, you create a template file using either the YAML markup language or Python that describes what you want the components of your environment to look like. Then, you give the template to Deployment Manager, which figures out and does the actions needed to create the environment your template describes. If you need to change your environment, edit your template and then tell Deployment Manager to update the environment to match the change. Here's a tip: you can store and version control your Deployment Manager templates in Cloud Source repositories.

Google believes that in the future, every company will be a data company. Because making the fastest and best use of data is a critical source of competitive advantage. Google Cloud provides a way for everybody to take advantage of Google's investments in infrastructure and data processing innovation. 

Cloud Dataproc is great when you have a data set of known size or when you want to manage your cluster size yourself. But what if your data shows up in real time or it's of unpredictable size or rate? That's where Cloud Dataflow is particularly a good choice. It's both a unified programming model and a managed service and it lets you develop and execute a big range of data processing patterns: extract, transform, and load batch computation and continuous computation.
