Writing Dialogue More Effectively
I know I’ve discussed writing dialogue before, but there’s always more to learn about this complex (and sometimes dreaded) task. Whether you struggle to write dialogue or are simply looking for a deeper understanding of its nuances, this post is for you.
The Strengths of Character Dialogue
To create impactful dialogue, it’s important to focus on the strengths that make your characters more relatable and engaging to your readers. Let’s explore some key traits that contribute to effective character dialogue:
- Staying calm under pressure: Characters who don’t lose their temper easily have more room to grow. By taking the high road, they can explore their world and convey meaningful messages to your readers.
- Exhibiting strong communication skills: Clear communication helps your characters relay information and connect with the audience. Since your characters are at the forefront of the story, their ability to communicate effectively is crucial.
- Offering advice: When your characters share advice with others, it makes the dialogue more powerful. This can also serve as an opportunity to provide your readers with advice you wish you’d received yourself, leaving a lasting impact.
- Asking questions: Questions make dialogue feel more natural and engaging, reflecting real-life interactions. They also provide a chance to address important topics and normalize seeking help—an act that can resonate with readers.
- Being friendly: Friendly characters help dialogue flow smoothly and create personas your readers will root for.
- Checking in with others: When characters take the time to ask how others are doing, it fosters realistic relationships and reminds readers of the importance of supporting those around them.
- Sharing emotions: Dialogue that reveals a character’s feelings makes them more relatable and allows readers to connect with their experiences. This can be especially impactful when handled with care.
- Asking for help: Including characters who aren’t afraid to ask for assistance adds authenticity and demonstrates the value of seeking help—a message your audience will appreciate.
The Weaknesses of Character Dialogue
While some dialogue traits enhance a story, others can hinder it if overused. Here are some common pitfalls to watch out for:
- Quick tempers: Characters who frequently lose their cool without showing growth can come across as self-centered, alienating readers.
- Poor communication skills: If characters constantly struggle to communicate, it can disrupt the flow of your story. However, this can work if used sparingly to showcase growth.
- Self-absorption: While a bit of self-interest is realistic, excessive focus on oneself can make characters unlikable and harm the narrative.
- Reluctance to talk: Silent or withdrawn characters may create gaps in reader connection. However, showing them open up over time can make their growth more meaningful.
- Dishonesty without consequence: A character who lies without facing repercussions sends a troubling message and might frustrate readers seeking justice.
- Avoidance of crucial conversations: Skipping important discussions can make characters seem unsympathetic and hinder development.
- Constant negativity: Characters who are hateful or bitter all the time can alienate readers. Sprinkle in moments of lightness or change to keep them balanced.
- Being a "know-it-all": Overconfident characters who never falter can make stories predictable and less engaging.
- Isolation: Characters who avoid interactions miss out on opportunities to drive the story forward and build connections.
- Bottling up emotions: While this can work in certain genres, overusing it in general storytelling risks creating a sense of detachment between characters and readers.
- Taking on everything solo: Overly independent characters may stall the story. Collaboration helps characters grow and keeps the narrative dynamic.
Using Dialogue Effectively
Now that we’ve examined the strengths and weaknesses of character dialogue, let’s discuss how to use it effectively:
- Scenario one: *"Hey, Becky. Can you help me with my science project? It's due tomorrow, and I haven’t got a grasp on the subject."*
This example clearly shows the character asking for help while explaining their need, making it relatable and easy to follow.
- Scenario two:
*"Can I ask you a question?" asked John.
"Yes, of course," Jake replied happily.*
This illustrates a natural and positive exchange, showcasing how characters can interact smoothly.
When crafting dialogue, remember to consider your story’s unique context and the role each character plays.
Writing Natural and Authentic Dialogue
Writing authentic dialogue might seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Pretend you're having a real conversation and jot down what comes to mind. You can even role-play with a friend to capture the flow of a natural exchange. The key is to make it feel real and meaningful.
Examples of Effective Dialogue
Great examples of natural and impactful dialogue can often be found in movies, TV shows, and books. Pay attention to how characters interact in stories that resonate with you. Personally, I’ve found The Jessica Brodie Diaries series by K.F. Breene to be an excellent example of effective dialogue, compelling storytelling, and character development. (Note: These are romance novels for mature audiences!)
Conclusion
Writing dialogue is an intricate art. Your characters, though fictional, must communicate in ways that feel real and relatable to your readers. Keep practicing, experimenting, and fine-tuning your dialogue, and you’ll discover the magic of bringing your characters to life. Happy writing!

My friend is such a stuck up jock, never indulging in fatty foods or beer and always watching his calories, can you show him whats its like to live a little and let go?
“Look, you need to get this thing off me!” Mike begged, pulling desperately at the bracelet around his wrist, “Seriously, bro!”
You were still staring at the jiggling mass of fat that hung over your friend’s waistline. Just a minute ago, his firm abs were on full display. But now? Now he was sporting a jiggly beer gut. His eyes filled with panic.
“I don’t think I can.” You replied, staring at the bracelet.
You barely remember how you came into possession of it. You and your buddies were down in New Orleans, celebrating Tom’s bachelor party. Mike was getting on your nerves though- constantly turning down beers, cigars, or any fun thing that went against his strict lifestyle. For fucks sake, it was a bachelor party. Would it have killed Mike to chug a beer with his bros? You recall drunkenly walking back to your apartment, but getting sidetracked in a pawn shop. And in your drunken state, you told the owner everything. How annoying Mike was being. How you wished he would stop being so judgmental. That you wish he could live a little and let go. And that’s how you come into possession of this bracelet. A solution to your problems, as the pawn shop owner said.
“But... It will come off in a week.” You reassure, “But in that time, anything you judge others for will be reflected back on you.” You believe that’s what the pawn shop owner told you.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck...” Mike cursed as he poked his new beer gut, his finger sinking into the fatty mound, “This can’t be happening...”
Mike could barely believe what he was looking at. Years dedicated to exercise, healthy eating, and a strict lifestyle undone in mere minutes. All because he said Tom needed to lose the beer gut. For years, Mike sported a set of perfect abs and firm, clean-shaven pecs. His arms were toned and sculpted. His brunette hair perfectly styled. His perfect smile and hazel eyes could melt hearts. And while most of these remained, the large ball of flash that covered his abs felt totally unnatural and foreign to him.
“I need to go.” Mike said, “I need to go to the gym.” You told him that he shouldn’t, but he quickly grabbed his gym bag and left.
Mike wiped the sweat from his brow as he paused his treadmill run early. He couldn’t stand the feeling of his gut jiggling as he ran. Each movement reminding him of this new, unwanted growth. He placed a hand on it and bit his lip. Had it gotten bigger? He groaned and hopped off the treadmill, heading back to the locker room.
“Just a week.” He thought, “Will it even reverse though?” He thought dejectedly.
He entered the locker room, trying to calm his thoughts and made his way to the changing area. As he turned the corner though, he collided with another man, the two of them stumbling back. And when the shock of their collision subsided, Mike got a glimpse of the guy.
“My bad bro.”
“Yeah...” Mike wasn’t sure he ever saw someone so hairy before.
The man’s pits were overflowing with hair. His chest and back covered in curly, unruly hair. His beard long and thick. Mike wondered how someone could live like that. He always kept himself clean-shaven and he figured it helped show off his muscles. Too much hair was kinda gross. He watched as the man left and Mike quickly grabbed his bag. And as he passed a mirror, he froze.
“Oh my god...” Mike’s hand shot to feel the beard that now covered his face, “No way...”
The mess of curly chest hairs that rose above his collar made his stomach churn, and he lifted his shirt. As expected, his new gut now sported a thick treasure trail that traveled to his now hairy chest. Even his pits were filled with a forest of wet, musky, and tangled hairs. He quickly fled back to the apartment, slamming the bathroom door behind him.
“You good?” You asked, hearing the electric razor.
There was no response. And after a few minutes, Mike exited the bathroom. Your eyes widened when you saw your newly hirsute friend.
“The razor didn’t work...” Mike frowned, as tears threatened to fall, “I...”
“You’re staying indoors.” You say.
______
The next few days you barely see Mike. He barely left his room. You figured he was playing it safe. Besides, he had one day left of this bracelet curse. You hear him rummage through the fridge.
“Hey man.” You say, looking up from your videogame, “You good?”
He just glares at you, “I have a virtual work meeting.” He says, “See you later.”
Mike sits down at his computer, logging into the meeting. He forces a smile as people comment on his new beard. And as the meeting continues, he can’t help but wonder how some of the people even landed a job in business. Some of them were incredibly lazy and didn’t even try. He would even say some just didn’t have the smarts for it. Mike didn’t realize the impact his thoughts were having on him. His bright eyes dulled, and his mind wandered as the meeting progressed, no longer caring about the confusing numbers and figures on screen.
“Mike, do you have those figures we asked for?”
“Uh figures?” Mike asked, “Uh yeah, I think... let me see...” But he struggled to find them. And even when he did, he fumbled through his explanation of them. He could tell his boss was pissed.
“Mike, when you get back to the office, I’d like to talk to you.” He said.
Mike’s heart sunk. He needed this job. Yet, did he even care about it? It was so boring, right? The meeting ended and the young man groaned, ruminating on his performance. Yet, his thoughts felt somewhat slower. A text message broke his train of thought.
“Hey Mike,” Chad says, “A few of the guys are hitting the bar, you interested?”
Mike can’t help but wonder if that’s all they do- go to the bar and drink. Chad and his work buddies always seemed to go to the bar after work. It was kind of ridiculous.
“No, I’m good.” Mike replied. But as he sat there, he felt thirsty. Not for water or a protein shake. No...
“I could really go for a beer.” He mumbled, “Wait... no...” He continued, “I don’t drink...” But the thought of a nice cold beer at the bar seemed like a good idea, “Fuck it, I deserve one after all this shit. Not like it’ll make a huge difference.” He said, looking down at his gut.
He quickly changed into a more comfortable pair of clothes and headed out. You only realized he left when the door slammed behind him.
______
The bar next to your apartment was bustling. Apparently, there was a big event happening that night. But Mike couldn’t care less. He was just enjoying the ice cold beer, wondering why he ever gave the stuff up. And as he enjoyed his beer, he couldn’t help but overhear the conversation next to him. Two guys, who Mike assumed were gay, were rating guys in the bar.
“Dad bods are like totally in.” The one said, “I don’t care what anybody says.”
“Oh you’re so right, sis.” The other replied, “I’m so excited for the show tonight.”
Mike couldn’t help but chuckle. Dad bods? Really? Women were totally into his firm muscles and abs. The way they ran their hands down his firm muscles or rested their heads on his firm pecs. Yeah, whoever said dad bods were in must’ve been smoking something. Mike shifted as his pecs sagged slightly with more fat, while his toned arms and legs lost their definition. His back even widened slightly, giving him a bulkier figure. His face became rounder, a new double-chin hidden by his beard. Mike belched as he finished off his beer, scratching at his softer chest.
“Ladies and gentleman!” An announcer called out, “Welcome to our Pride Night!” He said.
Mike groaned. He just wanted a beer. Not a social justice lecture. Did they really need to make a spectacle out of this? But as the man continued to talk, Mike couldn’t help but pay more attention. As he talked about gay rights, Mike smiled. And when he realized the two gay men from earlier were checking him out, he grinned and gave them a wink. One walked over and grinned.
“Hey daddy.” He said, rubbing his hand along Mike’s hairy forearm. The feeling incredibly pleasurable.
“And now, give a warm welcome to our main event!”
Mike watched as several nearly nude men strutted out onto stage. A few entered the audience to interact with the crowd, while others walked over to the poles on stage and began their dance. The crowd was cheering, while Mike watched on with mixed emotions. Part of him found a growing attraction to these men, while another part was disgusted. Pole dancers? How desperate did you have to be?
“You could totally pull it off.” The guy said.
“You think so?” Mike said, the thought of pole dancing becoming more appealing in his shrinking brain.
And before he knew it, he was lifting his shirt above his head. He quickly pulled his pants off too, revealing his barely contained bulge in his tight underwear. The gay man next to him cheered and ran a hand through Mike’s hairy chest.
“Oh? What do we have here?” The announcer said, noticing Mike, “Come on up!”
And Mike did. Walking up to the pole and starting his dance. Not even noticing the bracelet fall off. The changes remaining in place. And as you entered the bar, having followed Mike, your jaw drops when you saw him. Dancing, drinking- his hairy body on full display. Not a care in the world. When the event finally winds down, you find Mike talking with a few of the other dancers. When he sees you, he grins.
“Hey hun!” He gushes, “Guess what?”
“Mike?” You ask, “I... uhhh....” You notice the missing bracelet.
“I got a job! Isn’t that great?”
You have so many things you want to say. So many questions you want to ask. But as Mike grabs another beer and chugs it, clearly enjoying this new life, your words are lost. And as he flirts with some of the other men, you sigh, grab a beer, and celebrate with him. The bracelet kicked under a table for someone else to find.

What's coming up in your love life?
This is meant to be a fun, general reading, so it may not resonate with everyone. Take what resonates for you and leave the rest behind! Please take a moment to breathe, focus on your intuition, and choose the photo that calls to you. Each holds a unique message for you!

𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 1
A period of introspection and self-discovery is unfolding in your love life. This may manifest as a time of solitude, whether by choice or circumstance, where you are encouraged to reflect on past experiences, personal growth, and what you truly desire in a partner. There is a sense of deep contemplation, where external distractions fade, allowing you to see relationships from a wiser and more enlightened perspective. This phase is necessary for gaining clarity before stepping into the next chapter of your romantic journey.
As this cycle of reflection comes to a close, a significant shift is on the horizon. A sense of completion or closure may take place, allowing you to move forward with a renewed outlook on love. However, uncertainty still lingers—hidden emotions, unspoken truths, or a feeling of being unable to fully grasp a situation may arise. Trusting your intuition will be crucial during this time, as things are not always as they seem. You may need to navigate moments of confusion or deception, but doing so will ultimately lead to greater understanding.
Commitment and stability will soon become important themes, encouraging you to align with what truly resonates with your values and beliefs in relationships. Whether this means strengthening an existing connection, seeking a deeper bond, or reassessing what long-term commitment means to you, this period will bring clarity to what you need. Balancing different aspects of your life—whether it’s love, work, or personal growth—will be essential, as you may find yourself juggling multiple priorities.
Despite this, a sudden burst of energy is set to propel your love life forward. Things that once felt stagnant or unclear will begin to move rapidly, bringing excitement, new opportunities, or unexpected developments. This shift could come in the form of passionate communication, travel, or even a swift change in circumstances that alters your perspective on love. Whatever happens, be prepared for momentum to build quickly—what once seemed distant will soon be within reach.
𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 2
A significant transformation is on the horizon, one that will challenge old patterns and beliefs about love. There may be a connection that feels intense, possibly even obsessive, drawing you in with an almost magnetic pull. However, beneath the surface, there are lessons to be learned—this situation is pushing you to question what you truly want in a relationship and whether you are holding onto something that no longer serves you. It’s a time to break free from any limiting attachments or toxic cycles that have kept you stuck in the past.
This period may also bring a strong need for introspection and solitude. Taking a step back from romantic distractions will help you reconnect with your inner wisdom. There is a chance that someone new, or even an unexpected message, could appear when you least expect it, stirring emotions and awakening feelings of curiosity and excitement. However, the real work will be in how you navigate these emotions—will you repeat old habits, or will you embrace a new way of loving and being loved?
Momentum will soon pick up, bringing rapid changes in your love life. Whether it’s a sudden realization, an unexpected encounter, or a shift in an existing connection, things will move quickly. While this may feel overwhelming, trust that it’s leading you toward necessary growth. This is a turning point—what no longer aligns with your higher self is being stripped away to make room for something more meaningful. Embrace the transformation, and you may find yourself stepping into a new chapter with a clearer sense of what love truly means to you.
𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 3
A deep and emotionally fulfilling connection is on the horizon, one that feels mutual and harmonious. This could signify a strong romantic partnership or the strengthening of an existing bond, where both individuals are emotionally in tune with each other. There is a nurturing and compassionate energy surrounding this connection, suggesting a relationship built on understanding, trust, and emotional depth.
However, there may be some underlying deception or secrecy at play—whether from external influences or within the relationship itself. It's important to remain aware and trust your intuition to navigate any hidden motives or unspoken truths. Balance will also be key in this situation; there may be multiple responsibilities or priorities demanding attention, requiring effort to maintain stability in love and personal life.
Ultimately, this phase marks the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. There is a sense of fulfillment and completion, as if things are coming full circle. This could indicate reaching an important milestone in love, such as a commitment, deeper emotional connection, or even a realization about what is truly desired in a partnership.

how to raise your vibrations

having high vibrational energy is one of the essential qualities to living out a positive lifestyle and achieving happiness in your everyday life. here’s some tips on how to raise your vibrations:
decide what behaviors or actions that you will no longer tolerate from yourself or others. our everyday behaviors lead to our actions which create a pattern in our lives, no matter good or bad. sometimes, we don’t notice how effective our behaviors are on our lifestyle so it’s always best to self reflect and separate what is fulfilling from what is draining. some low vibrational behaviors to get rid of may include gossip, engaging in social media or real life drama, changing or adapting to please others, bad or inconsistent communication, arguing, toxicity, discomfort, and draining distractions. these are all negative patterns and can lead to negative outcomes such as, laziness, constant negativity, stress and depression. remember, it’s essential to reflect and make room for any positive changes that can move you in the right direction.
get clear on what lights you up and make space for it regularly. having clarity on what it is that you desire in this life will lead you to the depths of your life’s purpose and ultimately raise your vibrations. try writing in a journal, scripting in a notebook, reading self help books, and mindfulness meditation alone to help you get clarity on your aspirations. ask yourself questions like, “what do I enjoy doing?” or “what excites me the most?”. these questions will lead you to more answers about who you are. once your passions, hobbies or interests are discovered, make time for those things everyday to feel a sense of accomplishment and move forward towards your goals. try fulfilling outlets like going to the gym, painting, scrapbooking to help clear your mind.
visualize and embody your dream life daily. visualization helps tremendously with creating high vibrational energy because it gives you a sense of hope. you feel hopeful and optimistic knowing that a higher version of yourself is already living the life you’re visualizing. it’s helpful to visualize your success but also do things that align with your success. speak, act, and think like the person you want to become. for example, if your goal is to become the best version of yourself, do things like exercise, eat healthy, pick up a book instead of scrolling on social media, or make a vision board.
let go of needing something outside of basic essentials. comparison is the thief of joy, you don’t need the luxuries to be happy. be grateful in all circumstances for what you already have. this attracts more to be grateful for and allows more high vibrational energy to flow. fulfillment comes from within and happiness is a choice. intentionally choose everyday to surrender and express gratitude while also having faith that the best outcomes are on your path. this is the recipe for positive alignment. you are exactly where you need to be!
be willing to let go of that personality that doesn’t support the next version of yourself. if you notice that you may be the type of person who is easily irritated or upset, attention seeking, have FOMO, take everything seriously, or have any toxic traits, it may be best to reevaluate yourself and focus on shedding those negative thought patterns. think of it like a snake shedding its old skin to make way for new growth. it’s a necessary part of evolving into the best version of yourself and raising your vibrations. having negative personality traits can lead to low vibrational energy which can feel like you’re stuck in a never ending cycle of unhappiness. letting go of those traits can and will align you with a more fulfilling, successful, and positive life.
speak positively. those inner thoughts that we face daily can put us in a low vibrational state especially if they consist of thoughts of judgment, rudeness, or annoyance. aim to compliment instead of insulting and show compassion instead of judging. speaking positively over yourself and others will align you will a more positive state of mind which can help you to be more aware with your thoughts. you are perfect just the way you are and everything is going to work out. have a positive mindset towards life to reap those positive outcomes!
raising your vibrations consist of positive energy, emotional wellbeing and a sense of peace. it is always good to maintain high vibrations because it is a key part to maintaining a healthy mind, body, and soul. high vibrations can attract more positive experiences and opportunities into your life. vibe high and take care of yourself! 🕯️

Beach Gods - EXTRA Simon’s Sex God
Some Extra AI Image from Beach Gods Simon’s story that i didn't end up using and Here’s a detailed description of Simon’s transformation after he slips into the oversized purple Speedo briefs in the costume shop dressing room:

As Simon stood in the dimly lit dressing room, the shimmering purple Speedo sagging around his lanky, unimpressive frame, a sharp, electric jolt sparked at his core. It wasn’t the fiery surge of Milo’s transformation or the fluid wash of Harold’s—this was a pulsing, sensual energy that tingled through his nerves like a lover’s touch. His breath caught, his hands trembling as the sensation spread, and his reflection in the cracked mirror began to warp as the transformation took hold.

It began with his face, the feature he’d always hidden behind books and hunched shoulders. His crooked nose twitched, then straightened, smoothing into a refined, elegant curve that balanced his features perfectly. His jawline, once soft and undefined, tightened and sharpened, chiseling into a strong, square frame that exuded a rugged charm. His thinning, mousy brown hair thickened, strands multiplying and darkening into a rich chestnut hue, cascading in soft, tousled waves that fell just above his shoulders, framing his face like a natural crown. His dull hazel eyes flared, shifting to a vivid, piercing green that seemed to glow with an inner fire, while his thin lips plumped into a fuller, sensual curve, settling into a subtle, confident smirk. His skin smoothed, blemishes fading as it took on a warm, golden tan, giving him a radiant, sun-kissed glow.

The transformation flowed downward, reshaping his body with a sleek, deliberate grace. His narrow shoulders broadened just enough, rolling back to erase his habitual slouch, while his flat chest filled out into a smooth, toned expanse—not bulky, but firm and defined, with pectorals that hinted at strength without excess. His arms, once spindly, gained a wiry, lean musculature, veins faintly tracing beneath the skin as his biceps and forearms took on a subtle, sculpted look. His torso tapered into a trim waist, abs tightening into a faint outline—not a chiseled six-pack, but a lean, functional core that complemented his newfound allure.

Then came the dramatic shift. A rush of heat surged into his groin, and his manhood responded with an exaggerated, almost theatrical growth. His dick lengthened and thickened, pulsing as it swelled beyond any natural proportion, while his balls grew to match, heavy and prominent. The purple Speedo stretched taut over the massive bulge, the fabric straining to contain the over-the-top size, creating a bold, unmissable outline that dominated his lower half. The growth was so pronounced it shifted his stance slightly, hips adjusting to balance the weight, turning his once-modest presence into something undeniably striking.

Simultaneously, his backside began to change. His flat, bony glutes tightened, then ballooned outward with a rapid, sensual swell. The muscle fibers beneath hardened, but the growth didn’t stop there—his ass expanded into huge, round cheeks, firm yet plush, each one sculpted to perfection. The Speedo’s rear stretched to its limit, the fabric riding up between the massive globes, transforming the briefs into a thong-like fit that hugged the curves tightly, accentuating every inch of his new, eye-catching posterior. His hips widened slightly to support the exaggerated proportions, giving him a statuesque, almost hourglass silhouette.

His height crept upward, bones stretching with a soft crackle until he stood at a confident 6’1”. His legs lengthened and toned, thighs and calves gaining just enough lean muscle to match his refined physique, while his feet grew slightly broader to anchor his new stance. His posture shifted, shoulders squaring, chest lifting, as the shy slouch he’d carried for years melted away, replaced by a natural, commanding presence.

When the transformation ceased, Simon exhaled shakily, his hands roaming his new form in disbelief. He traced his chiseled jaw, ran fingers through his thick hair, then down to his toned chest, pausing at the absurdly exaggerated bulge and massive, rounded ass. The mirror reflected a man he didn’t recognize—handsome, magnetic, and dripping with allure. The purple Speedo, once loose and laughable, now clung to him like a second skin, highlighting every curve and contour of his transformed body. His green eyes locked onto his reflection, and for the first time, he didn’t look away—he stared, captivated by the Sex God he’d become, born from a single, daring choice in a dusty shop.

Gina, I was rewatching Harry’s interview with Zane (because I really miss him), and it’s so cool how rewatching something can help you catch new things or understand others more deeply:
1. Harry’s so good with metaphors. I’d already heard the surfing one he uses to describe songwriting, but in this interview, he says something about how Watermelon Sugar didn’t need him doing promo to be successful. He compares it to “sending your kid to school for the first time and finding out other kids like them, and you’re happy about it—but it’s no longer about you, or dependent on you.” Or when he talks about therapy, he says it’s like opening doors to rooms in your mind that you didn’t even know existed. He uses metaphors so naturally to explain what he means, and I love that about him.
2. I know some people or fans might see him becoming more private as selfish or pretentious, but I feel like, for Harry, setting boundaries and caring less about what people think—or not making commercial success his main priority—is actually a sign of maturity.
Like, you can really feel how when he was in 1D and during the early years of his solo career, he was trying so hard to please everyone and really cared about how others saw him. And now it feels like he’s in a place where that doesn’t control him as much, and that’s so great to see. It’s real growth.
3. I’ve had friends ask me what I see in Harry or why I care so much when he’s “just basic” or whatever. And I never really knew how to explain it, but when Love On Tour started and then Harry’s House came out—and I saw and heard him in this new era, more grounded, more big in every way—I realized that what I value most about Harry is that he genuinely cares about what he does and how he does it. He thinks deeply, reflects, and comes up with insights—but he doesn’t stop there.
Like, insight doesn’t equal change. And with him, I feel like that phrase really fits. He’s reflected a lot on different parts of his life, and he hasn’t just left it at that—he’s made intentional changes (some we’ve seen, some we probably haven’t).
And I admire that so much. He seems like someone who’s really trying to live his life consciously and intentionally—someone who finds meaning in both the good and the hard parts of life, and doesn’t take anything for granted. And honestly, that’s the most human and amazing thing in a world where it’s so easy to just live on autopilot, especially when it seems like you have everything
And I'm projecting a bit here, but if at any point he’s felt pressure while making this new album—because of how big the last one was—I really hope he’s channeled it in a healthy way. I’m honestly just so excited to see what new insights and growth this next era brings.
I agree with this so much. I find him endlessly inspiring. I love the way he approaches challenges in his life. He's always curious and constantly growing, and to me, that's such an admirable way to live your life.

Cultivate meaningful connections based on shared values, interests, and mutual respect. Remember that friendships are a two-way street, so invest time and effort into nurturing these valuable relationships and be there for your friends as they are for you.
************************************************************************
Pile 2:
The High Priestess (II):
Circe's second message comes through The High Priestess card. She reminds you to listen to the whispers of your subconscious mind and honor your intuition. There are hidden depths within you waiting to be explored, and the High Priestess invites you to trust in the mysteries of the unseen realms. Embrace the unknown and allow your intuition to guide you on your journey of self-discovery.
Special Message: Area [Love]: As you navigate the path of love in the future, remember that authenticity is key. Embrace your true self and seek connections that honor and celebrate who you are. Be open to new experiences and allow yourself to be vulnerable, knowing that genuine connections are built on trust and mutual respect. Trust in the timing of the universe and have faith that love will find its way to you when the time is right.
************************************************************************
Pile 3:
Death (XIII):
Circe's third pile message is reflected in the Death card. While the image of Death may seem ominous, it symbolizes the inevitability of transformation and rebirth. Circe teaches that change is a natural part of life, and sometimes, old structures must fall away to make room for new growth. Embrace the process of shedding the old and embrace the opportunities for renewal and transformation that lie ahead.
Special Message: Area [Family]: Your family dynamics may undergo changes in the future, but remember that love and communication are the pillars that hold relationships together. Cultivate open and honest communication with your family members, even during challenging times. Embrace forgiveness and understanding, knowing that every family has its unique journey filled with ups and downs. Focus on nurturing the bonds that matter most and cherish the moments you share with your loved ones.
************************************************************************
Pile 4:
The Star (XVII):
Circe's fourth pile message is embodied in The Star card. Like the Star, she offers hope, healing, and guidance in times of darkness. No matter how challenging your journey may seem, there is always a guiding light to lead you forward. Trust in the universe's benevolent wisdom and have faith that brighter days are on the horizon. Allow Circe's magic to illuminate your path and inspire you to dream big.
Special Message: Area [Health]: Your health is your greatest asset, and investing in self-care and well-being will pay dividends in the future. Prioritize habits that nourish your body, mind, and spirit, such as regular exercise, nutritious eating, adequate rest, and stress management. Listen to your body's signals and seek professional guidance when needed. Remember that small, consistent steps toward wellness can lead to significant improvements in your overall health and vitality.

My reason for liking Gojohime (Gojo Satoru x Iori Utahime)
The main ship dynamic I’m obsessed with is “opposites attract” combined with banter. I love when two characters with completely different personalities, backgrounds, and worldviews come together, and the contrast sparks this kind of intense relationship dynamic. It’s not just about having differences; it’s about how those differences create tension, growth, and genuine connection.
In these kinds of ships, there’s always a push and pull—one character challenges the other, forces them to look at the world differently, and sometimes even changes how they approach their life. The tension makes for the best moments, but the growth makes these ships so rewarding.
Examples:
Bonnie Bennett x Damon Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries)
Bonnie is all heart, driven by love, family, and morality, while Damon is sarcastic, emotionally detached, and deeply cynical. Their constant bickering, where Bonnie calls out Damon’s worst qualities and Damon pushes Bonnie to see beyond her own principles, creates this tension-filled relationship. And somehow, they end up understanding each other in ways no one else can.
Klaus Mikaelson x Hayley Marshall (The Originals)
Klaus is a tortured soul, raised in violence and deception, while Hayley is a strong-willed, independent woman fighting for her family. Their relationship is full of conflict, yet they share this deep understanding and respect. Klaus's control contrasts sharply with Hayley’s more free-spirited attitude, but somehow, they balance each other in a way that strengthens them.
Hope Mikaelson x Lizzie Saltzman (Legacies)
Why it fits: Hope is burdened by her powerful supernatural legacy, often distant, intense, and emotionally guarded. Lizzie, on the other hand, is emotional, unpredictable, and eager to prove herself. Their contrasting approaches to life—Hope's serious, heavy-hearted nature versus Lizzie's more impulsive, lighthearted attitude—creates a tension-filled dynamic where they clash often. But, despite their differences, they push each other to grow and ultimately come to understand each other in ways no one else can.
Matt Murdock x Frank Castle (Daredevil & The Punisher)
Matt believes in justice, redemption, and compassion, while Frank sees the world in black-and-white terms—no room for mercy. Their constant ideological clash makes for incredible banter, but it’s also what forces them to grow. They push each other’s boundaries, and their relationship isn’t just about saving the world, it’s about learning how to do it.
Tony Stark x Stephen Strange (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Tony is impulsive, reckless, and emotional, while Stephen is disciplined, precise, and strategic. Their personalities are worlds apart, and their banter reflects that. Tony’s ego and impulsiveness often clash with Stephen’s pride and ego, but their partnership grows because they challenge each other in ways no one else does.
Bruce Wayne x Hal Jordan (DC Comics)
Bruce is brooding and emotionally intense, while Hal is carefree and cocky. Bruce believes in order, control, and the strict rules of justice, while Hal has a more flexible approach. Their bickering and constant clash of philosophies make them both stronger and force them to realize that there’s more than one way to save the world.
Hermione Granger x Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)
Hermione’s perfectionism and drive to always be in control often clash with Ron’s more laid-back attitude. She’s focused, while he’s insecure and occasionally a bit of a mess. Their banter is legendary, and while they argue all the time, they ultimately help each other grow, and their differences become what makes them work so well together.
Rory Gilmore x Logan Huntzberger (Gilmore Girls)
Rory is determined, focused, and often a little high-strung, while Logan is charming, rebellious, and loves to push people’s buttons. They have this dynamic where they’re constantly challenging each other—Logan pushing Rory to take risks and live a little, and Rory keeping Logan grounded and focused. Their back-and-forth banter is one of the highlights of their relationship, and the way they grow from each other is amazing.
Han Solo x Leia Organa (Star Wars)
Han and Leia have one of the most iconic opposites attract dynamics ever. Han is the cocky, roguish smuggler who does things his own way, while Leia is strong-willed, no-nonsense, and very focused on duty. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their constant bickering is just a front for their deep respect and affection for each other. It’s one of those ships where the banter makes the relationship.
Spider-Man (Peter Parker) x Deadpool (Wade Wilson)
Why it fits: Peter is awkward, idealistic, and a little bit of a nerd, while Deadpool is chaotic, crude, and doesn’t follow any rules. The contrast between Peter’s earnestness and Deadpool’s unpredictable humor creates the best kind of banter. They push each other’s limits, and Deadpool’s unfiltered attitude forces Peter to lighten up, while Peter helps Deadpool remember there’s more to life than chaos. Their constant back-and-forth is hilarious, but underneath, there’s a genuine bond.
Gojo Satoru x Iori Utahime (JJK)
One of the main reasons I love this ship is because it perfectly embodies the “opposites attract” dynamic. Gojo and Utahime couldn’t be more different in terms of their personalities and how they see the world. Gojo is brash, cocky, and full of confidence, while Utahime is calm, reserved, and more pragmatic. The way their contrasting energies clash creates this incredible tension that I can’t get enough of.
These ships, with all their banter, tension, and contrasting personalities, are what I love. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and I totally get that.
At the end of the day, these are just my thoughts and preferences, and they reflect the kind of stories and dynamics that speak to me.
If this post isn’t for you, no worries—just keep scrolling! Everyone’s entitled to their own tastes, and that’s the beauty of fandom.
But if you do get it, or if you love these ships too, then I’m so glad we’re on the same page!

erinwantstowrite on tumblr dot com how do you get the motivation to plan & outline & write & finish ur fics
well, anon on tumblr dot com, motivation comes in waves, and i've simply learned how to ride it
we're all in different boats of many colors, shapes, designs, and sails, so we all have different ways to ride our waves safely, creatively, and while having fun. my methods might not work for you (i hope they do!) but they could give you an idea. however, there are basic fundamentals that every sailor (writer) should know:
taking care of yourself, body and mind
going outside to enjoy the sun and live and breathe
taking time to learn new things
outside of the box thinking
your motivation will come to you better when you figure out what helps you feel good. create a schedule or set out a certain time of day to write, and don't beat yourself up if you find that your writing isn't coming to you on certain days. it'll come back, it always does
when planning, i like to use notebooks. i have two notebooks (so far) for LoF, notebooks for my original works, etc. I treat them like it's an extension of my brain (or like a journal). it has all my brainstorming, lists and facts, timelines, calendars, etc. i have research notes in here too! the notebook is a conglomeration of everything all together, and some things don't end up looking pretty or end up in the fic at all
outlining is different. outlining is taking your brainstorms, figuring out what is "needed" to drive the plot forward, what is "wanted" to fill in spaces between plots (example: i wanted tim and peter to meet, and i decided it makes the most sense if tim was stalking him, and what was needed for the plot was for tim to figure things out from that conversation). put it in a chronological order and try to make it read like an episode or "mini-book" each chapter, if you can. no pressure on that last part.
your outline will constantly change (think like how the wind and currents in a boat could shift and you have to adjust so you can get where you're going). do not fret about it, just continue forward. make a new outline with your new ideas, reflect and keep the old one around. you might scrap a scene and then find out you can fit it in somewhere else later on
when writing, you want to know what you can handle within a day. on average, i can set aside 80 minutes a day, and write about 2000 words. but it entirely depends on my mood, if i slept right, if i have plans that day, etc. sometimes i write 2000, other times i write 20 or nothing at all. do not push yourself to write every day or write a certain word count, it will come to you naturally. you'll also get better over time and with practice, and when you find and get comfortable with your writing style, you'll be able to make your plans, outlines, and write with no problem at all
and with finishing... i'll admit that i have an issue with that. i find that endings are the most important part of a story, and sometimes i don't want it to end. but alas, it must. endings are never "endings", because there will always be a set up to what comes later, even if you don't write it. you want your characters to finish their arc, but also have room for growth once the reader has stopped following their journey. it's satisfying to get to that end and see your characters off. it's on you to figure out your way over that hill

Title: A Soul Unheard
Chapter 6: Lan Sizhui
A03: Moonchild912
Wattpad: Moonchild0912
Lan Zhan’s voice resonated as he continued. "Hanguang-Jun gives Lan Yuan the courtesy name Lan Sizhui. May this name guide you in your duty, as well as in the freedom you will carve for yourself." Wei Ying was startled at the name that was chosen, to yearn for.
He paused, "what will the sword be named?"
A-Yuan stood still for a moment, his eyes fixed on the blade in his hands. The weight of the weapon was both literal and metaphorical, as the young man reflected on the responsibility it represented. He turned his gaze to his father and uncle, who watched him with such love and pride, and then to the sword, which symbolized the unity of their teachings.
"I will name it Shengji (生计)”, (meaning ‘life’s course) A-Yuan spoke steadily, his voice clear, though it carried a hint of emotion. "It reflects the way my path will always shift between duty and freedom, just like the sword. It is not fixed, but shaped by the choices I make. Life’s course is a journey of balance, of harmonizing the structured and the free, the disciplined and the spontaneous. This sword represents that journey."
Freedom was something Wei Ying noticed that Lan disciples could not truly indulge in. It was a quiet yearning, a deep desire to break free from the constraints placed upon them. But the rigid rules of the sect, the expectations to uphold tradition, kept them tethered. Their spirits longed for release, yet they were bound by duty, unable to fully embrace the freedom they sought. It was a paradox that seemed to live within each of them—always reaching for something beyond the rules, but never allowed to truly grasp it.
As A-Yuan spoke, a subtle tension filled the room. The elders and grandmasters exchanged quiet, knowing glances, some with furrowed brows, others with their expressions unreadable. Lan Qiren, though his face remained stoic, couldn't fully mask the flicker of disapproval that crossed his eyes. The rigid rules of the Gusu Lan Sect had always prioritized discipline above all else, and A-Yuan’s words, emphasizing freedom and balance, challenged that very foundation.
The other elders, too, seemed slightly taken aback, their eyes narrowing as they assessed the young heir’s words. One or two cleared their throats, murmuring amongst themselves, while the grandmaster remained silent, their attention fixed on the boy as though weighing the implications of his chosen path. There was a collective sense of hesitation, though no one spoke out of turn.
Despite their reserved reactions, a few could sense the undercurrent of change that A-Yuan’s words carried. Even in the strictest of sects, there was always room for growth, and perhaps, in his words, there was a glimmer of potential for the future—a balance between tradition and the evolving needs of the world outside. But for now, the elders kept their opinions to themselves, the silence hanging heavy with the unspoken expectation that A-Yuan would soon prove himself worthy of the title and the path he had chosen.
Hi! I don't know if you're willing to do none-yandere (?), but I wanted to ask if you could do just some fluff and platonic Kokushibo with his lowermoon adopted daughter when she's insecure and started to not like herself because her bda is starting to affect her appearance in a way?
((Also sorry for the gender thing, but I just happened to find it easier to explain like that, you can do it as gn!child though!))
Shifting Reflections
In the soft glow of twilight, Kokushibo’s secluded home exuded a gentle warmth—a haven away from the tumult of the world. In one quiet corner of the residence, their adopted child lingered before an aged mirror. The reflection staring back was different from what they remembered: subtle shifts in familiar features had begun to emerge, a physical reminder of the mysterious changes brought on by their evolving abilities. These changes, linked to their BDA, were beginning to affect their appearance in ways that filled them with uncertainty. Where once the mirror had reflected a confident, joyful self, it now whispered doubts and insecurities.
The child’s eyes, usually alight with a spark of inner strength, now looked downcast and troubled. They traced the unfamiliar contours of their face, feeling as if they were losing touch with the person they had always known. A knot of worry twisted within, and every glance at the mirror deepened the feeling of estrangement. The changes were not just physical; they resonated deeply with their inner self, challenging their sense of identity and worth. In that quiet moment, self-doubt began to overshadow the confidence they once held dear.
Kokushibo, ever watchful and tender despite the weight of their own burdens, noticed the lingering silence and the troubled posture. Approaching with measured steps and a heart full of quiet understanding, they rested a gentle hand on the child’s shoulder. “I see you’re troubled by what you see,” Kokushibo said softly, voice resonating with warmth and reassurance. “Sometimes, change feels like an uninvited guest. But remember, the essence of who you are is not confined to the surface alone.”
The child turned, eyes glistening with vulnerability, and for a moment, words faltered. Then, in a voice barely above a whisper, they admitted, “I feel like I’m losing myself. These changes—I can’t help but wonder if I’m becoming someone I no longer recognize.” Their admission carried a heavy mix of fear and sorrow, as if each altered line of their reflection was erasing pieces of their past self. It was a confession born of deep insecurity, a plea for understanding amid a storm of internal conflict.
Kokushibo knelt beside them, ensuring that their gaze met that of their adopted child. “Every mark and every change tells a story,” they explained, their tone both gentle and resolute. “Your reflection might shift, but the kindness in your heart and the strength in your spirit remain unchanged. These changes, though unexpected, are not a loss of who you are—they are a testament to your growth and resilience.” Their words wove a comforting tapestry of acceptance, reminding the child that beauty could be found in transformation.
As the evening deepened into night, the room filled with a tender silence—a moment of shared introspection and quiet solace. Kokushibo continued, their voice imbued with quiet determination: “I understand that change can feel overwhelming, and it’s natural to fear what it might mean. But every part of you, even those that seem unfamiliar now, holds value. They are proof of the journey you’re on, a journey that I will walk with you every step of the way.” The promise in Kokushibo’s words wrapped around the child like a soft blanket, offering security in the midst of uncertainty.
Slowly, the child’s gaze shifted from the mirror back to Kokushibo, where they saw nothing but unwavering acceptance and care. In that moment, the fear began to ease, replaced by a gentle recognition: that while appearances might shift, the heart’s true essence was steadfast. The child allowed a tentative smile to break through the gloom—a small sign of hope that they were still, undeniably, themselves.
Together, in the quiet of that night, they sat side by side. The mirror no longer held dominion over the child’s perception of worth; instead, it became a silent witness to the evolving beauty of a spirit growing ever stronger. Kokushibo’s steady presence reminded them that every transformation was not a betrayal of who they were, but a step toward the person they were meant to become. And in that shared understanding, both found comfort—a promise that, no matter the changes that time would bring, their bond and the truth of their inner beauty would remain unaltered.

Charge Alignment
Charge alignment is probably the part of speedster nature that humans have the hardest time truly comprehending, short of the Reverse bond.
The Positive Speed Force and Negative Speed Force both reflect change, motion and meaningful freedom. The Still Force represents entropy, stasis and the inevitable meaningless end of everything, and devours Positive and Negative alike.
There can be no creation without destruction. The status quo is an ever-tilting balance, not a static ideal.
Healthy forests must burn- if they do not, when the next fire inevitably comes, it will be a thousand times worse and burn everything to the ground, sparing nothing.
In a forest prevented from burning, plants still die and new seedlings struggle to make it through the shade of their elders’ canopies until all that is left is a handful of old-growth trees who cannot be replaced even as they die one by one from unchecked pests and inevitable senescence.
Controlled burns clear away detritus, dead wood and undergrowth, while leaving the ecosystem intact and able to regrow- a phoenix’s rebirth, not a volcanic immolation. Many species of tree actually need forest fires to propagate- the heat releases seeds from their cones, and clears space for new seedlings.
The Negative is Destructive Change- tearing down the old to make way for the new.
The Positive is Creative Change- creating and nurturing new things, modifying and adapting old things.
The Negative is no more unthinking destruction than the Positive is lifeless stasis. Both are Change, and Change is necessary.
Creation and destruction are not enemies, but lovers and friendly rivals. The forest burns, and a new one grows from its ashes. An old building crumbles, and it’s demolished to make room for new construction. An old identity is discarded, to make room for one that truly fits.
This is what the Negative whispers: Sometimes, it’s better to buy a new car or computer than try to fix the old one. Sometimes, you have to cut some content to make the promised deadline. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Nothing is meant to last forever.
This is what the Positive whispers: Sometimes, broken things just need to be fixed. Sometimes, you just need to try your best. If you fail, at least you tried. Life moves on, and today’s setbacks are infinitesimal compared to the rest of your life.
But at their core, their message is in no way contradictory- Everything changes. Nothing is permanent, good or bad. History works in cycles, and those who refuse to change with the times are always worse off in the end.
Speedsters are instinctually driven by their charge alignment- personality and behavior subconsciously shaped by the instincts of their half of the Speed Force.
Positive-aligned speedsters are hopeful optimists. It doesn’t matter if today is terrible- tomorrow is a new day. If something is broken, try and fix it- all it takes is a little effort and the courage to ask for help. Everyone is worth saving- all of us are good at our core.
Negative-aligned speedsters are cynical pessimists. Today is terrible, and tomorrow will only be worse unless something changes. What is broken must be torn down and replaced- not everything can be fixed. Not everything is worth saving- hard choices must be made.
This often causes problems, especially given that speedsters aren’t purely cosmic forces of the universe. The human half of their nature cannot be denied without denying half of themselves, and at their core, speedsters are human with human feelings and human biases.
Negative speedsters are often cast out of their social circles, considered mentally unstable and dangerous by nearly everyone they meet(or even just unpleasantly snappish and cynical), and find it stressful simply to exist in society due to the instincts of their charge alignment- and in humans, extended ostracization and alienation usually leads to outbursts of pointless destruction and violence fueled by despair, rage, jealousy and hatred. (But then again- a hero isn’t truly a hero without a villain to fight, are they? Fate can be cruel, and Negative speedsters would probably be the first to argue that the good of the whole world is worth a few people’s pain.)
Positive speedsters tend to have it better- society endlessly celebrates their heroes, and they tend to make friends wherever they go with kind deeds and words. Still, they have to be careful not to fall too far into their own biases, let their egos get to their head, or stretch themselves too far. (And well, Godspeed is Positive-aligned, and he’s pretty much a textbook villain.)
But regardless of charge alignment, speedsters cannot sit still. If there is anything that all speedsters can agree on, it’s that A Speedster Must Run. Stillness invites death and rot, especially for beings whose very existence is motion.
Living a peaceful life free from conflict is not something a speedster is capable of- humans might be content to run through well-worn circles of routine, but speedsters need to do something new and meaningful. If they’re not reacting, they’re acting. If there’s nothing to do, they’ll make something to do.
They’re never completely still- standing in place or sitting down, they sway or rock back and forth, bounce their feet, bob their head and tap their fingers on their thighs, and when they’re thinking, they’ll pace in circles and talk to themselves.
Even asleep, they babble, squirm, twitch and flip from side to side. The only time a speedster isn’t moving is when they’re dead or severely injured.
This tendency extends to the instincts of charge alignment. They see a corrupt institution, a loved one in distress, anything- and act without considering the long-term consequences of their intervention. Waiting is for humans- speedsters act now. The Negative tears down the old to let the Positive build up the new, and so do speedsters.

So I finallly got my hands on the OMORI artbook. I've heard there was an exclusive interview with the devs, so that was bound to pique my interest.
Man, where do I even start?
1) It is notable that neither Minced nor Omocat take the time to detail any of the numerous "changes" Mari underwent even though Omocat subsequently does take the time to detail Basil's "evolutions".
2) It is telling that the only time Mari is brought up is in the context of talking about her death. She's simply This Character Who Was Gonna Have Stuff Happen To Her.
I wonder if there's a term for that.
"we were always rushing" it's great that you can just casually admit to putting your employees through crunchtime multiple times and no one's going to give a shit
I have a lot to say about this.
Considering that mental illness and trauma are supposedly the focal point of OMORI's story, the developers' blatant admission they cared about creating the perfect childhood they wished they had to live out through the characters more than ensuring their game competently handles its themes comes across as particularly insulting. Not only does it destroy the game's anti-escapism message, it also carries the implicit admission the devs tacked on the heavy topics only because they wanted to feel like they're making an important statement, tact and respect be damned. At its heart, OMORI is little more than a sterile escapist fantasy about having everything fall into your lap without any effort that pretends it has something of note to say.
And, of course, all of this is reflected by the game itself. Sunny is never shown doing anything substantial for his friends and we're never even told why they're friends with the guy - all we need to know is that they love him. Mari is ostensibly a perfectionist, but it's framed as a harmless and endearing quirk throughout the game right until it's used to give Sunny a reason to kill her, with the negative impact her desire to be flawless had on her life before the argument being glossed over entirely. Aubrey nearly kills a close friend of hers and doesn't even try to save him herself yet her friends forgive her in an instant because she cries really hard. Sunny somehow looks like a cute and elegant animesque boy despite being so sickly he can faint while sweeping the floor and having spent four years rotting in his house while an NPC who similarly doesn't want to leave their room for an unspecified reason is depicted as a gross and pathetic basement dweller. The cutscene of Sunny - who, to use the fandom's favorite expression, is a literal child - throwing himself off a roof is set to a cheery pop song. The act of stabbing yourself in the stomach is a trivial gameplay mechanic that rewards you with progression. Need I go on?
The biggest example of this is, naturally, the game's climax. Sunny's two good deeds after an entire game of doing next to nothing for his grieving friends - who, as a reminder, are grieving because of him - are framed as monumental character development and as grounds for his immediate forgiveness. The game asserts Sunny deserves to be forgiven and happy since he suffered for a long time (even though his suffering is largely self-inflicted) and he mostly imagined himself doing good things, like picking up the violin again or watering Basil's plants. It is an immature and, once again, overly idealized way to present personal growth and healing. And if his friends choose not to forgive him for ruining their lives? Well, they won't be "good" friends anymore!
If the devs wanted to have their escapist fantasy of a game, they could've simply made a cute and inoffensive RPG about a bunch of kids going on adventures and becoming a found family along the way or something of the sort. The need to feel like they're doing something important evidently overrode any and all common sense, though.
You know what they say, after all.

🖊+ Balthazar?
HI SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG.... I was. Overconfident in December how fast I would answer things. And then I lost it in my drafts. And got Soup Brain for a while. Thank you for askiiiiiing let's talk about the halo I wanna talk about the halo
[prompt]
So. Balthazar’s halo. I was thinking about it recently and by recently I mean two weeks ago and I Forgor to type it up. I have Many Thoughts And Feelings about it- like the wings it was a late arrival to his design and only exists because it was a mechanical thing in Kingmaker, but I’ve become. So very attached to it. Pre-wings the halo was the only true dead giveaway that he wasn’t an ordinary half-elf and its first manifestation when he was seven or eight was how it was discovered at all that he was an aasimar. He hates it because of this, and he’s always hated it. It’s one of those things that makes him stick out and feel like a target, a thing that makes him a thing that he’s not (an angel, a kind and helpful servant) in the eyes of others. He normally suppresses it, despite what my art suggests (sowwy about the inaccuracy), and before the wings this generally allowed him to pass as a half-elf. Manifesting it is usually something done to a practical end, whether this is taking advantage of reading as Obviously Aasimar in a social situation or just having a hands free reading lamp (if you have it you may as well use it for stupid reasons).
His halo has always been bright enough to provide light that a person could see by, but its intensity when manifested does vary- it glows brighter in response to intense emotions and has also seen its natural “default” brightness” intensify as his powers as a sorcerer grow over the course of the story. That change in tandem with the growth of his powers also results in it becoming over time harder and harder to completely suppress. Suppressing the halo is practically second nature to him, and at the beginning and before it was like flipping a light switch on or off. But over time that second nature isn’t good enough, and when he isn’t focusing little bits of that light still seep out- not enough to be called a “halo,” maybe, but enough to mean there’s a faint glow to his silhouette. It slips out most often when he believes he’s alone and safe- a part of his unguarded appearance. But it also can appear when he’s focusing intently on something else or has been surprised. I can’t help but feel that over time perhaps he eases off the work of constantly trying to suppress it. The wings make it a lost cause to try to pass as ordinary, and even if changing the habit is difficult and in many ways unpleasant it is undeniably a way to live that’s less taxing on him. Unmasking a little.
At its most intense, his halo can be bright enough to dazzle onlookers. This isn’t something he’s able to do at will. It’s always triggered by especially intense and uncontrolled emotion, making it humiliating twice over: first because it can’t be tamed and used, and second because it reflects such a painful state of internal vulnerability.
And in the KINGMAKER SPOILER ZONE for any that may affect:
I’ve had conversations with various people over the years about the degree of light sensitivity that Tristian has after becoming blind, and lately I’ve definitely been contemplating more and more what some amount of sensitivity to light and brightness would mean. And it has occurred to me that Balthazar’s halo, when out, would probably make him the brightest object in any given room. He’s still visible as that light. Visible as a vague figure when the glow suffuses his body. Something about that gets me… the literal light in the dark
#ask me emithing#ask game#balthazar lucienne#im-in-the-walls#does this make sense I hope this makes sense it may have made more sense two weeks ago when I failed to write it down#I did NOT bog it down with long ass backstory shit yayyyyy good job me

Chloe Travels back in tie AU question, but what is her Akuma like?
I always feel Akuma re meant to reflect the person changed, with those who have notably strong but distinct drives, despairs or obsessions (Or just a lot of character growth) having more than one, while more stagnant people end to return to form so to speak.
Anyway, my mind, with a Chloe in this kind of head-sace would be Obsidia (She's dropped the Queen theme cos Audrey sucks too actually) Despite her new and well established standard of "Audrey sucks" the powers are annoyingly similar, but Chloe's are a vastly improved variant.
IE, her body is made of obsidian class, she is constantly cracking and reforming (A reflection of her disintegrating mental health She can swiftly alter the shape, form and density of the glass which is primarily used to make blades, claws and other cutting implements given Obsidians sharp nature.
So for example she could point her finger and then boom, its suddenly a super long blade piercing whatever is on the other side of a given room.
She can also turn herself into glass particles to fly and dodge, as well as grow her form by absorbing and converting the glass or even sand around her to increase her material mass or make herself giant, or otherwise shape shift, ETC.
This is also meant to reflect the fact Chloe is sharp, dangerous but frankly very fragile, IE, Obsidian is a supreme cutting implement but can shatter. Chloe's form is constantly shattering but she's reforming it just as fast, its sheer willpower and rage keeping her together at this point and that is all that keeps Obsidia from disintegrating.
Okay first off-this is a very cool akuma design! If you are writing you should definitely use it! I could see working it into a different fic, but it might be too much for this particular AU. The focus here is on emotional trauma not physical danger, and since it's a season 1 throwback I'd like to keep it less 'lethal' overall.
So perhaps... 'Miracle Queen' suits our usage with a face lift, minus the bee theme. It's less 'look at me' Queen and more 'I am better than you!' Queen. Her power is 'Queen's Battle'(with a nod back to the S2 name) which isolates her and one other person in their own little pocket-dual dimension. Since she thinks she can beat them H2H(like with Mayura) she's cutting them off from their friends, just like she is cut off and alone.
This also neatly explains why LB couldn't find her partner in time to intervene. And upon winning it finally sinks in that... She's not the hero right now, she's the badguy. Hence, breaking the akumatization and fleeing.
#ask#chloe goes back in time AU#akuma#original akuma ideas#Obsidia sounds cool#but more suited to my Gothic AU
