does anyone think its so morbid how andrew- the character who nobody saved throughout his whole life- is a rescuer?? nobody helped him in his life, but now the manor is forcing him to bear the responsibility of helping those around him knowing theyd hesitate when the roles were reversed. i have a strong headcanon (totally not based on personal experience in idv when playing gk) that andrew just. doesnt get rescued. he could save his entire team and four cipher kite but the second hes on chair? eh, just go for the three-man. i dont actually think andrew performs too bad in games either, adding to his constant irritation and watching as his teammates all rush out the gate without second thought to the man on the rocket chair. he considers not going for the rescue at times (its not his fault his team gets terror shocked at five ciphers) but if anything bad happens during the rescue the shots are fired directly into his chest. a constant loop of discouraging results to a match and being unable to do anything about it. or not and im just insane abt my favorite guy ever

this was originally a writing sample for a now-dead multifandom rp on discord. it was based off a hc by my beloved (/p) mutual and friend @cemetery-irises of andrew destroying the handle of his closet door out of fear of being locked inside, and i'm honestly incredibly proud of how it turned out. andrew is genuinely one of my favourite characters to write, he's so fascinating and i can't wait to write him more

🪦 Andrew has never felt 100% attached to the identity that everyone else assigned to him. Everyone at the manor avoided him, not including his small circle of people that checked up on them occasionally.

🪦 when you had came along to the manor, you were immediately drawn to him. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but it was just something about them that captivated you. You speculate that maybe you see a bit of yourself in him.

🪦 Andrew tries to force himself into social situations with you at first. He’s not shy by any means, but he’s definitely not kind. The main reason why he keeps himself removed from everyone else is because he doesn’t want to offend anyone.

🪦 it is extremely easy to be Andrew’s friend. They value loyalty and honesty more than anything, but there’s no other requirements. Unless you’re super disrespectful and gossip a lot. Obviously, it’s a no for him.

🪦 the best dynamic I think you could ever have with Andrew is one that leans more on the platonic edge. He enjoys playful banter, but he’s not good at conveying any other emotion that isn’t disdain. If you two could go the rest of your lives pretending that you both hate eachother, he’d consider that a valuable relationship.

🪦 he acts drastically different based on his status. If he’s sick, he has no shame or embarrassment. He is much more blunt when it comes to his needs, but he isn’t as snappy like he usually is,

🪦 tired-drew is very similar. He’s much more physically affectionate, but he has a very sour way of speaking to you. If you were anyone else, your feelings might be hurt, but you simply just get sour right back at him.

🪦 there’s never really a time where he is “jubilant”, especially when you’re early on in your relationship. The only time you can get close is when you smother him. They will allow you to do such things to them, but you will need to be able to get your hands on him first.

🪦 Physical touch is good when he’s receiving, but do not ever expect for him to give you physical affection. He would much rather give you things and spend time with you then have to hold you.

🪦 he is extremely insecure, you need to remember this. As much as he prefers the platonic aspects of your relationship, he still needs to know that you do in fact love him and that you’re not just lonely.

🪦 he asks you a lot of questions, and he will remember all of your responses. He wonders a lot if he was just your only option, so the questions will be exactly like those stupid questions that people will ask their significant others.

🪦 there are a lot of things you need to deal with that aren’t exactly positive, aside from the insecurity. Mental breakdowns and Anxious meltdowns are frequent, and they will need their space for awhile.

🪦 people who experience these can one hundred percent get violent. It does not matter how much Andrew loves you or how much you love him, do not be the person that kisses someone while they’re in mental distress. You both will end up getting hurt.

🪦 Andrew will not be afraid to use force against you if you get to close to him or touch him in any way while he is in these states, and he will not feel sorry. He might feel guilty, but unless he actually gets aggressive or violent, he finds no need to apologize.

🪦 in a lot of his meltdowns or really any time he isn’t doing good mentally, he does get the encouragement from his mind to just leave you, and he will at that moment. You can try to use logic with him, but it will not work. All you need to do is wait for this to pass and be there for him when he comes back to you (it takes him about a day or two, nothing crazy).

🪦 he cannot be with someone that isn’t patient. He is a patient person when it comes to people with similar needs or issues as him. If you are someone who experiences any type of stress or mental breakdowns similar to him, he is extremely patient.

🪦 this man does not have much self respect, but if they do notice that you two will do nothing but hurt eachother, he will walk out. You two can stay friends maybe, depending on the situation, but he will not stay with someone who will do nothing but hurt him or vice versa.

andrew can't stand up for himself, let alone anyone else... he's so conflicted because he gets paralyzed in any social situation YET he can't simply leave you alone to fight for yourself. that would be too cruel.

when he first met you, already so flustered and anxious, he felt bad on multiple occasions when he had to ask you to repeat what you just said or raise your voice a bit

if there's someone as shy as andrew in the room, there's two possibilities: either he'll take a step back into the shadows or - the rare alternative - try to help the person out of pity. it's going to be the latter, obviously. if someone cares for him he'll pay them back x10, one way or another, even if it means putting himself in uncomfortable situations here and there

you two often walk together, hand in hand, like an awkward teenage couple at prom. it's to combat anxiety, but you keep attracting unwanted attention from the other residents that gush over how clumsy and cute you are together

does the thing all tall ppl do when you're speaking. since he's pretty tall, standing at 5'11 (179cm), he bends down to your level so he can hear you better

to sum it up, you two cling onto each other for support. two minuses make a plus amirite

i've mentioned this before but andrew is a very panicky person, and would always ask you if everything is okay if you don't speak for a prolonged period of time

he just needs a lil reassurance from time to time and it would hurt him to find that he's the reason you're upset okok :c

not exactly raised with great manners but will try his best to treat you like a gentleman, think kissing your hand and escorting you to the matching room every time the two of you are separated. it's unlike him and the behavior might come as a surprise, but he's a sappy loser and just wants to be a great partner (and be regarded as one, after all)

just quality time as the primary love language between you two. no pressure to talk, and it can quickly turn into physical touch if the both of you are comfortable with it. he'd be more than happy you wanted to or even initiated it

often brushes your hair away from your face instead of checking in with a question. since he knows you're timid, he'd rather see your expression instead of prodding you to talk if you don't want to at the moment

surprise hugs from behind yayyy!!!!! he's protective of people he loves and in his eyes he kind of "shields" you from everyone else

has a large frame and wide shoulders so it DOES feel like equipping a large shield, especially when he wraps his long arms around you and his hair brushes against your skin. this way he's both close to your mouth and your body. surprise him with a kiss this way and he'll cover his mouth in fluster

My take on Andrew Kreiss

my take on Andrew!

disclaimer: everything stated here is not canon nor do i claim it to be. it's just my interpretation, so if you hate it or don't agree please just keep scrolling, thanks!

When Andrew arrives to the manor he is in his late 20s, around 28-29. He's also a German (maybe mixed) man.

Timeline: Andrew lost his mother at around 16-17, he survived by doing odd jobs, until he heard about Laz cemetery. There, he became obsessed with the idea of afterlife & heaven. He was ready to sacrifice everything to get there, until he crossed the line and had to leave. He moved to the manor, becoming one of the manor's staff.

Appearance + body: He is around 6'1". He's, obviously, albino. His hair is completely white, his skin is kind of a reddish-pink due to occasional exposure to sun, very rough on his hands, face, neck and other parts of his body that received repeated sunburns. He is covered in scars. He also has stretch marks, because of a sudden and intense grow spurt he went through as a teen, mainly on his back. His nose was hooked naturally, but due to lots of beating he received from being bullied, it's also kind of crooked. He has trouble breathing and usually breathes through mouth. Since he moved to the manor and had access to more food, he doesn't appear skinny, although still slim. He is physically strong due to extreme amounts of labor, but that also messed his health quite a bit. He struggles with neck, shoulder and back pains. He tries to take as little space as possible with his frame, so he hunches a lot. He covers his eye due to hypertrophy. His eyesight is terrible. I also hc him as autistic! Not sure if it is canon, tho.

Character: My most controversial take - Andrew is not religious. At least, not in a mainstream way. He has his own distorted view of religion, where he can lie, rob graves, and still go to heaven just because he had enough money to have his grave at the right place. All Andrew knows about faith is superstitious. He just wants a nice, normal life, normal conditions, not to survive but to live. That's what Heaven is to him, and that's why he craves it. Not because he is a God-fearing man.

He is careful around other people, he is a people pleaser for anyone who takes interest in him, although it's enough to say or do 1 wrong thing for Andrew to abandon the relationship completely. He hates when people try to ask something personal, when they try to bond with him in a meaningful way because it feels like a carefully laid trap. The saddest thing is - he is sentimental to his core. He wants to have intimacy with people (I'm not talking about sexual intimacy here), he wants to be close, but he can't. He is very quick to judge other people, and he kinda hates himself for it, because he is constantly judged too. But judging people only by superficial traits helped him survive as an orphaned teen, so he can't just abandon this habit. He is foul-mouthed, he doesn't seem to control it and is deep down embarrassed about the way he talks, when he talks at all. He thinks of science as something dirty, only crazy people participate in, because his only exposure to it was through grave robbery. He is greedy (at least that's what he thinks). When he got to manor, a place of abundance of food, free space (a room of his own!) and comfort, he felt guilty for constantly taking. He takes a lot, he takes too much, he needs to repay everything tenfold to be forgiven, to be permitted to stay a bit longer. He cleans in community rooms like library, he overworks himself, he tries so hard to be useful. He doesn't want to leave manor. Ever.

Although Andrew didn't finish even his basic school education, he is interested in learning and by staying in manor he learns a lot. Baking, gardening, reading and writing properly.

He enjoys literature, although he prefers when someone else reads to him, so he doesn't have to hurt his eyes.

Andrew enjoys being at the garden, and he enjoys spending time with Emma because she never asks him anything personal and always has interesting stories to tell.

-he talks to himself like. a ton. sometimes it's to himself, sometimes he wants to believe his mom can hear him and he talks to her

-he has a small ritual he does for his mother's birthday every year to keep her memory alive

-there was a very short period of his childhood (before his mother's death) that he tried selling matches. it did not work out

-he loves the warmth of fireplaces and will kind of just. stare into the fire for a while

This poor man would be stumbling over words just trying to talk to you. Anytime you talked to him, he would be dying to just big a hole in the ground and stay there for the rest of his life. The one time someone doesn't ignore him and he doesn't even know how to say hi.

After a while though, Andrew will be able to talk to you comfortably and show his genuine interests.

I feel like Andrew is the kind of person that just mindlessly rants to avoid thinking about it to much so he would be the kind of person to be going on about something interesting and just accidently confess that he likes you.

But seriously, Andrew wants to trust you so bad but he's worried you're just using him for something and think he's actually a freak.

Once you two actually start officially dating, he enjoys it when you two just simply hang out together. It doesn't have to be a fancy dinner or expensive gift from Miss Nightingale, literally anything you give him, he will accept with the most appreciation.

He especially loves it when you brush your fingers through his hair. It makes him feel a bit better about his hair color.
