Sylvester McCoy's first episode as the Doctor first aired on September 7, 1987. Arrangments couldn't be agreed on with Colin Baker after his firing during the hiatus, so the plans of his farewell episode and regeneration had to be scrapped. Instead his regeneration took place at the beginning of the episode with Sylvester standing in for him wearing a Colin Baker wig. ("Time and the Rani pt 1" Doctor Who vlm 1, TV event)

Doctor Who Television Review: Time and the Rani
Title: Time and the Rani Story Number: 144 Season:  24 Screenwriter:  Pip and Jane Baker Director:  Andrew Morgan Thoughts: In retrospect, there’s a certain reassurance that this is the LAST of a really long stretch of crappy Doctor Who before it started to get good again.  I don’t know what it would’ve been like for anyone watching this show in September 1987 (incidentally, the same month that…

In 1963, an alien time traveler known as the Doctor (Doctor 7) and his companion Ace returned to 1963, Totter’s Lane Junkyard where the Doctor (Doctor 1) and his granddaughter picked up their first human companions. The Doctor and Ace had to help the military prevent two warring factions of a Dalek Civil War from getting The Hand of Omega. However, the Doctor had a secret lethal agenda known only to himself. On a technical note, the serial introduced the "Skeleton Effect" when Daleks kill their victims. ("An Unearthly Child"/"Remembrance of the Daleks", Doctor Who, vlm 1 TV)

Doctor Who Television Review: Remembrance of the Daleks
Title:  Remembrance of the Daleks Story Number:  148 Season: 25 Screenwriter: Ben Aaronovitch Director:  Andrew Morgan, John Nathan-Turner (uncredited) Thoughts: Doctor Who opens its 25th season by returning to Shoreditch in 1963 when the Doctor Who story begins.  There are a lot of allusions to “An Unearthly Child” and apparently the BBC is even airing Doctor Who in the Doctor Who universe. …
