these are just musings from 3:30 am but i feel like i can really guess some of the major demographics of the tog fandom based solely on the toes of fics being written. mostly fo the gay, catholic trauma kind, which is definitely serious do not get me wrong. but also it’s not something i can personally relate to, and i’d just like to see more things without that same homophobia that i see constantly (is there any fandom where one gay character has not become the figurehead of homophobic catholic/christian trauma), and also joe is my favorite character so. yknow.

i just feel like there’s so much unexplored potential in regards to his relationship on his sexuality, his race/ethnicity especially in its transition form when he grew up to the modern world and its different regions and his religion. i have seen so much of all of that explored with nicky (aside from race because white) and i’ve seen so little on joe. i’m not religious, im not arab but i am asian and i’d really just like to see any fandom character ponderings on anything but sad boy gay truama christian white man. like there is nothing wrong with that i just find it a bit stale. honestly for the most part my tumblr is tailored to what i want but the fics, of the fics. and some of them are really good! i just would like to see more of the same type of deep dive into the same type of character that i can find in any fandom.

or even better do some exploration on the woc, there’s some content on nile and quynh. there’s really no point to this, if i wanted to fix it i would try and write some more stuff i just wanted to put it down somewhere

hey nonny! sorry this is a little late, and also more than three sentences, but i get the sense that maybe this isn’t one of those situations where less is more? idk you decide...

“Is this just a game to you?” Andy demands, glaring at the woman she has considered her entire world for the past few millennia and who she is very seriously considering shooting right here and now just to get it over with. 

“Of course not, Andromache, I think you’ll find I’m taking things very seriously, which is why I haven’t killed you, yet.” 

A very exasperated sigh from the comm in Andy’s ear interrupts her before she has a chance to say anything more to Quỳnh.

“Guys,” Nile says through the comms, “it’s paintball, which I feel like I shouldn’t have to specify is literally a game. But also our game ended like five minutes ago. Joe got Booker in like, the first three minutes and Nicky shot both of you five minutes ago, I don’t know how you two didn’t notice- I’m not sure if that’s more of a testament to Nicky’s sniper skills or your abilities to have such a heated stand off that you don’t notice getting shot.”

“Oops,” Andy offers with a sheepish shrug she knows Nile can’t see, it’s worth it though, for the way Quỳnh has to stifle her laughter with the back of her hand.

“Wait a second,” Quỳnh interjects after a moment, “Joe's on my team, and you didn’t mention him being out of the game, so we still have a chance, no?”

“Ah, yeah-” Nile pauses to clear her throat, in a way that Andy would definitely consider rather pointed- “...no. He kinda surrendered? Deflected?”

“Sorry, Q,” Joe’s voice says through the comms, sounding not even the least bit sorry, “Nicky and Nile just make a very formidable team, I simply stood no chance. Plus, I can think of far more interesting things for Nicolò and I to do that involves paint-” 

“Okay!” Nile exclaims loudly, “I think that’s enough paintball for today. How about we head back? Nicky promised me victory gelato.”

Chapter 40: the work of loving them is worth the pain of losing them. or mortal Andy is losing her memory and i cry the entire time.

probably Extremely Uneventful Subject because, spoilers alert, it's all about andy regaining her immortality and being happy ever after with her wife, as it should be!

I've only written one! (Red) Room For 8. I do think it classifies as crazy, maybe? What do ocean's 8 and the haunting of hill house have in common? this fic!! i actually really liked it and i should probably finish it oops! plus, we get lou and theo being friendly exes so that's... something

No, i don't think so?

Hmm a little. so not really. just when the fic really calls for it. for example Don't You Know? (That I'm A Moon In Daylight) helena/dinah vampire au, for reasons. and the only touchstone of truth the marla/fran backstory!

13. What’s your all time favorite ship?

oh the most difficult question ever!! listen, i have to say at least four! Andromaquynh or Andy/Quynh, is so especial because oh my god they're immortal that's endless potential! and i don't think i'll ever write 101 one shots for another ship! Damie or Dani/Jamie, because maybe I only have two stories written for them but the love i feel for them is way too much, they are perfect, favorite characters too. Heistwives or Debbie/Lou, objectively i also wrote a lot for ocean's 8, they are the reason i started writing fanfiction! and they've lasted me a long time. plus there's also the ot3 i love. and a bonus mention for my current favorite Sameena! of Sam/Deena, because they are the only thing in my mind at the moment, except maybe for Sarah/Hannah

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Okay so I genuinely started to write a The Old Guard x Hill House AU, like I had a full chapter ready I think and I was so excited about it, spooky, angsty, emotional. but then Fear Street took over my entire life. but! I love the idea and I have a full outline so I'm sure I'll write it at some point!! hopefully before the sequel comes out lol as soon as i can look past the problematic fandom again. but! one that i really don't think i'll finish, would be a tog x ocean's 8 AU, because i didn't feel as strongly about that one, didn't have an outline, technically didn't even start to write it, probably not going to happen

15. What are your writing strengths?

i genuinely have no idea what to answer, i swear

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

uhhh i don't know? if this counts, which i think it does because it definitely affects my writing, is that i have zero discipline. and i rather die than thoroughly proofread and edit everything i write...

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I was going to say I don't love it but then I remembered I've done it a couple of times! I think it's nice, but when it's not overdone, just a little thing here and there. in my case, i did short sentences on one shots, which meaning can be guessed or wasn't very important to the story, so that the reader doesn't have to stop reading to look up a translation, and then at the end include the translation. it's mostly about the feeling of it, to me

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Ocean's 8! and it was a 30k ot3 story because apparently i'm ambitious like that. and shortly after i started writing for the haunting of hill house!

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Gunpowder Milkshake! I have an entire one shot already planned out but I haven't had the time :((( (fear street please let me live) and i have written for these fandoms/ships but not nearly enough!! so i'm also going to mention Dani/Jamie from bly manor and Dani/Grace from terminator dark fate. let's not overthink why i love so many ships that include a character named dani jgkhghk

Uuh. Um. So many that it only barely fits in two screenshots even on my new bigger phone? XD

I'm on 517 fics btw, 526 counting stuff that's been posted on anon (you can find that number if you're member of a collection and click 'people' on said collection)

What's your favorite fic on your Ao3?

Would still have to be my Andromaquynh longfic In Your Stead <3 though I'm currently working on a Mirandy podfic project that might take its place! Still, not my own fic, but I already love the voice acting I get to do there :)

How many bookmarks do you have on Ao3?

1574 bookmarks! Lots of them probably on private tho, check out my account and tell me how many you see there, I'm too lazy to log off and in again xD I tend to bookmark as, well, actual page marker bookmarks as well as use it as a 'read later' function as well as marking fics I've already read and writing me notes on what I liked or didn't like about them or whether they might be triggering for me in ways not tagged, warning me to only re-read with with caution, that kind of thing... I also bookmark a lot of external works so I have them saved all in one place, bc while I have a livejournal and I think also ffnet account I don't rly use them and I wouldn't even know how to bookmark stuff there...

Plus as recommendations for others! I love the rec function, I've got 175 public recs at the moment, so check it out if you're looking for new reading material :)

253 🙈🙈🙈 I'm sorryy!!! In my defence there are always some where I'm like 'ill reply when the sequel's up' and then I never write that xD probably half are still unread bc of that... Rest is some I just love looking at, some so long I love getting them but I don't have the energy to respond in kind and feel like just replying 'thanks' would be cheap idk, and some recent ones just uhh laziness

(they're of course all read though!!! It's just the function called unread bc they're unanswered and I haven't marked them read without answering, I only do that for replies, but I have read every single one <3 thank you commenters I love you!)

6 pages full of author and series subs from way back 2014-2016 🙈 I'm not doing it anymore and I'm Trying to get rid of them but it's so much work adsfghjkl (I still want to keep them somewhere so I click the series/a fic of the author and bookmark it with the tag 'subscription tag' to know I formerly had subscribed/would have subscribed if I still used that function - I just want to get rid of the email spam because that damn thing already completely murdered one email address, and I've switched my ao3 account to another email and that's slowly dying as well now lmfao and I Never check those emails I just check my bookmarks anyway so it's all very useless to me)

so i started watching the way of the house husband with my gf yesterday and andromaquynh au??? Like ex criminal andromache 'andy' the scythian turning into a housewife for the sheer power of loving her wife so much?? quynh is a feared Girlboss™️ business woman who loves her incredibly intimidating wife so much but she's kinda just as intimidating???? andy being domestic making cute food for quynh and being loved by her neighbors bc she's incredibly sweet?? Anyway I've been thinking about that it also works the other way round

literally i love almost everything about the old guard. some special things in my heart though uhh 1. definitely the found family i love that so much and just the way they did it especially? like. they speedran the found family with nile and i love that and its just <3 <3 <3 2. joe and nicky. everything about them <3 <3 3. andy and quynh. we BARELY got content for them in the first movie (please god please god may the sequel establish them as having been lovers) but i just. love them. i know in my heart they were lovers and its all so tragic and i just ahhdghasdgjklasjdg i love them. 4. NILE!!!!! just. NILE <3 tring so hard to do whats right despite being caught in just a wild situation. i love her. 5. the whole message of humanity throughout the movie. the whole speech celeste gave when fixing up andy's wound? that shit hits every single time. we're not meant to be alone!!!!

1. not enough quynh 2. they havent explicitly made andromaquynhcanon 3. we did NOT get to see the scene of nile and andy arriving at the safehouse 4. we did not get to see the scene leading up to nile and andy arriving at the safe house and the boys shenanigans 5. uhhhh we havent gotten deleted scenes or bloopers. its been a year and a half :(((
