i was so disappointed in the casting for Murderbot itself, i vowed not to watch it at all. beloved book series adapted to tv? yeah, i saw what happened to witcher. i'm not doing that again.

and the trailer? what a flop. FreedomBot? talk about licking American audience's boots.

but then it came out and smb on tumblr wrote that nobody else on the main cast is white? and that it actually sticks to the source material? so i gave it a try. and... i think this one's a favourite!

i watched all the episodes that were out, and then i watched them again. looked up fan content on reddit. and somebody there wrote that, like, if you were a company producing rugged murder robots, of course you'd want them to look like stupidass navy seals. and that... made it make sense to me? like, Murderbot looks white and boring because the company wanted it to look like that. maybe it would want to blend in more and look more like the Preservation crew. but it's stuck in this stupid middle-aged American suburbian war vet dad body.

i'm rereading the books and they're even better now than i thought the first time round! (i think i was really disappointed by how short they were back then) and i'm so happy the show has done them justice!

I had a dream that we created OCs together. You made an middle age dude, in his 40s i think, that was a mage?? And I was like ok, so now he needs a best friend so I created an elf about the same age as your oc, who looked like he was a teenage son of your oc. And they were buddies :)

what a delightful dream! funnily enough i do have a middle-aged magic man OC! his name is Balthazar, and he lived in our Iron Age fantasy campaign of StonetopRPG. his job in the village was hearing the voices. he saw the invisible connections holding the world together, sometimes severing them, sometimes weaving them stronger.

he had a husband and an apprentice, but he really could have used a friend….

I find the prospect of eating anything in the astral kinda terrifying, like ill owe the party something or get a part of me stuck there afterwards, a "Persephone's pomegranate" kinda situation. I don't blame you for your wariness; I'm currently in the middle of getting out of a messy situation I got into by eating the wrong astral food. Take one cup of tea from the wrong lady and you've got a story to tell.

But I generally believe that if you'd like to have energy, you should eat. And if you'd like magical energy to do magical things, then you should eat some magic.

This may be the very consequential and eternal ouroboric carnal consumption between Witch-and-Spirit that is so often journeyed to at the full moon,

but it may also be as something as simple as a private astral temple, which has got a lovely fountain of magical water, and you go and drink the water and eat some nice fruits from the garden.

Such an operation can be more or less carried out even if a person doesn't know how to send their soul on flights.

Speaking blessings over any food or beverage can be helpful, and in my opinion tends to generate more energy than you expend on the blessing; gathering an excess of energy is something humans seem uniquely adept at doing.

Perhaps the simplest way to charm food in this manner is to draw a little magical symbol over it, maybe something nice like the pentagram; and this can also be "drawn" with the gaze; any method of drawing, when done with the intent to gather up and consume magical power, I believe is likely to have at least some effect.

A small prayer or charm worked over food may also suffice. A nice way to fit this in is to just choose one scheduled meal or beverage a day, like the day's first coffee, and only charm that. If your paradigm allows for shared offering, inviting the spirits to Consume the offering along with you.

This is, ultimately, I guess what it is: making energetic offerings to yourself, not to feed your physical body, but to feed your magical body.

Regarding your concerns of Persephone and being lost to fairyland if you eat their food, and so on:

I believe that not everything that can be found in the astral is fairyland, or the underworld, or the eternal site of the witch's communion: so not every place you can visit is littered with oathy hazards that will accidentally bind you to another realm.

If you like to astral travel, creating your own private astral temple and consuming the foods there would not, I believe, bind you in any sort of way to being destined to return to the astral.

If such hazards are a concern for you, which I think is not unwise, don't take food or beverages from any creature you meet in the astral. Avoid exchanging objects with them too, if you're very concerned about things. Only partake of what you create in your own spaces.

You can only get the Dead End in Day 4 by staying at Ren's apartment — the rest of your choices before that don't matter. I'd also pay closer attention to the black smoke and Ren's reaction towards it!

Ren disappears from the home screen because he promised to help the player out (and stop them from getting the Dead End again). Try replaying the game again from the beginning for a surprise!

"Unsent Memories" was another visual novel (initially being written by @10chimes / @unsentmemory, though the project has since been dropped and handed back to me /pos) and is set in the same universe as 14 Days With You. Its storyline and characters are completely separate from 14DWY, so you don't have to worry about them while playing 14DWY.
