The cellar of Gaunt Manor was damp, cloaked in shadows. The stone walls whispered with echoes, each one a haunting reminder for Ominis, drawing him back to the same torment he had endured years before. He stood trembling before his father, the cold floor beneath his shoes the only way he could sense where he was, each step a cruel reminder of his helplessness.
“Father…” Marvolo stepped forward, hesitant, as though hoping his presence might change what was about to unfold. But his father brushed him aside without care.
“Privileges are never without cost, Marvolo. You know this. And Ominis knew it too, before he dared use our name to help his… friend.” The words dripped like venom from Ominis’ father.
“So. Ready, boy?” His voice was laced with dark amusement, the question hanging in the air like a blade poised to strike, his lips curled into a wicked grin.
He didn’t wait for a reply. His hand shot forward, the spell already on his lips, the curse Ominis feared most.
“Crucio!”
The incantation echoed through the room, the spell hitting Ominis like fire and lightning combined. Pain, sharp and relentless, tore through him. His scream filled the hollow chamber, a sound so raw it felt like it would shatter the walls. Hands flew to his ears, trying in vain to muffle the unbearable cries that seemed to tear from his very soul.
Marvolo stood frozen, powerless. He knew he could do nothing. Not now. He wasn’t strong enough to save his brother, not yet. His hand clenched around his wand, knuckles white with tension, his fury barely contained. He cast a glance at his father—a stare so cold, so filled with loathing, that it might as well have turned blood to ice. Ominis’ cries carved themselves into his memory, unrelenting, eternal.
One day, he would be the head of this family. One day, he would possess the strength to challenge his father. One day, he would have the power to protect Ominis—the true heir of Slytherin.
Back with a drawing that took me WAY too much time. But… Here, is my version of Marvolo. Well, Fanon Marvolo. Because he’s a hottie. Look at this family’s genes, damn. ALSO. One of his finger is actually under his thumb. I promise he has 5 fingers.
Anyway, I like to imagine that Marvolo would secretly take Ominis’ side and try to protect him when no one’s watching. It’s just me wanting Ominis to have an ally in his insane family. 💛
I’m so, so bad to draw intense emotion, and I’m not satisfied with the Ominis screaming one, but I don’t think I can do better anyway. Hope you like it, still !
Love 💛

#21.Christmas Present
,,O-Oh Professor Snape, before you leave I uh wanted to ask you something." In response he just rose his eyebrow and stared down on you. You laid down the Silverware on your Plate as the other Professors continued to eat their lunch.
,,I saw that you have quiet a big collection of books and I wondered if you're in possession of one I have been looking for to read for very long." Sighing he wetted his lips. He wasn’t even hiding his boredom. What a great Start, you thought to yourself.
,,Which one are you looking for?" Smiling you set your drink aside. ,,It's a rare one from Scotland. ,The correct way of Potion brewing and wild Herbology'." Now his face looked like your answer might actually have impressed him. ,,I am able to call one of these copies mine."
,,Oh really?" Your excitement seemed to confuse him slightly so you fixed your posture, flattened down your dress and collected your words together. ,,Would you mind if i would borrow it?" You followed him like a lost Puppy as he kept walking down the great hall.
,,You can pick it up tomorrow after lunch at my chambers."
,,Thank you, Professor!“ Smiling you first thought about hugging him but as your arms almost flew around him you backed up and held out your hand. ,,Sorry." Thinking about wether he should take my hand or not he finally decided to get up only to turn around on his heels. As always he vanished within seconds into the dark corridors. The Butterflies in your stomach went crazy now so you just tried to hide your smile as got up yourself to walk the other way leading towards your classroom.
In the next Morning you hurried your whole way up to the mountain where you just recently found a dead Acromantula. It has been two days ago when you have had spotted her. Actually you intended to let her rest in peace but you really wished you could give Severus something in return of his grace. So you quickly pulled out something out of your bag to catch the rare venom dripping from it's teeth. Actually it could become quiet dangerous up in here but since you went there almost everyday you felt more than just safe.
After the jar was full you went on your way back to the castle. It wasn't a too long way. It only took an hour and a half and you also got to take some ingredients you needed for your classes with you too. After you got everything secured in your class stocks  and changed your dress you went to lunch. Severus already sat at the unpredictability long table. Smiling you sat down next to him trying to hide your excitement. A good Book was always making you nervous. Not to mention a Book you have been looking for since so long and loaning it from a person you truly kind of liked?
,,Hello Professor Snape, I hope you're doing alright?" You chattered but got interrupted as the food appeared on the table. He wouldn’t have continued the Conversation anyways. After something that felt like an eternity but turned out to just have been 20 minutes you walked next to Severus towards his chambers. You told him about the new Paper you got from the Ministry about magic beasts - even if he didn't asked for it. But you knew if you didn't want to walk in silence you would have to talk yourself.
,,Theres even an article about Muggle Medicine in it. They test it on animals. Did you knew that? That’s so cruel.“ You noticed how he rolled his eyes on your words but you just simply knew he didn't dislike you as much as he disliked Gilderoy Lockhart. As you reached his door he quickly opened it with his wand. ,,Enter." Allowing you to step into his chambers. Nervously you closed the door after you. As he went to his shelf to look for the book you quickly opened your bag. He was quicker than you were so he just stood in front of you and held out the book.
,,One second - I almost got it!" And just by that you were able to grab the small jar. After you held it into the light and put it in his hand you took the book in return. Already admiring the Front Cover.
,,I know it's not much, but I just wanted to give you something as appreciation for the loaning." You Mumbled while scanning the little details stencilled in the edges.
Curious he inspected the label. ,,Where did you get it? So freshly?" Professor Snape quickly asked now, surely interested.
,,I uh - from the left Mountains. I found a dead Acromantula two days ago. I thought the Venom might come in handy for potions." You now looked back up at him. Your smile was wider than usual, you were just so happy about the possibility to finally read this book.
,,It - uh - yeah. Do you know the value of it?" His eyebrows arched.
,,Of course I do. But there's nothing as value as finding something you've been looking for since a long time." You smiled mumbling as you now opened the first pages of the book. Small golden details shined into your eyes. ,,Wow." You mumbled. He didn't even try to hide his stares at you as you looked through the pages and you could feel how he tried to be nice for once.
,,Would you like to sit down and have some tea? You can read it here while I'm brewing and prepare my-“
,,I'd love to." You admitted. Your eyes connected instantly as you closed the book to press it on your chest while sitting down on his couch. The first few moments as you sipped your teas remained silent until you just couldn't take it anymore.
,,Where did you get it? The book I mean." His beautiful dark eyes finally dared to look back at mine and he explained.
,,Hagrid is friends with someone who knew the Author. So as I once helped him out in his garden he just gave it to me." You felt like his voice was more quiet than usual and you had to listen even more carefully. His voice made something blossom inside of you. Butterflies flying, Flowers blooming, Sunshine finally hitting my skin? It felt all the same- incredible sweet and addictive.
,,That's very Kind." The Afternoon continued. Your Conversations were really short but you enjoyed every word. He chooses his words wisely which was the total opposite to you. You spoke as soon as a small thought came to your mind trying to fill the silence. It was like you balanced the Smalltalk out. Spending time with him meant learning to worship his words and worship a peaceful silence. As the Clock strikes 7pm he looked up to you. You grabbed your Coat. ,,Are you going to eat Dinner tonight?“
Shaking his head he pointed to a tower of Notebooks, meaning he was still to intertwined in his Job Tasks.
,,I See.“ Chuckling you pushed a strain of your Hair behind your ear. ,,Thank you for letting me read the Book and the Tea. I really enjoy it.“ For a second he just looked at you before his lips parted.
,,You can stop by and read anything you want, whenever you want.“ Listening close to his voice you noticed how his Perplexity from earlier hasn’t faded yet. But before he’d cancel his Offer you accepted.
,,I’d love to. I´ll see you tomorrow then, Professor.“ Waving over to him you turned around to walk to the great hall. Your Cheeks still beheld the pink touch you got from when you were around him. It was calming you to spent Time with him. You felt more relaxed than sleeping out, hearing rain or hearing your favourite song. He made it all better, he made you feel more safe than anyone else by just offering you tea. Dear Merlin, do you even listen to yourself? How can you be so in love with him after just 5 Months working at Hogwarts?
As your seventh Month at Hogwarts began so did the Winter Time. Christmas was only three weeks ago by now. It was till too long for you liking. Yesterday, a rainy Sunday you started to bake cookies and slightly decorate your room more festive. The Holiday Spirit already took you over in July and now it was finally your favourite time of the year. Smiling you walked over to Severus Classroom to meet him for your daily Meetings. You came here daily to read, grade Papers from your students or just drink some tea with him. It became a loved habitat of yours and he seemed to enjoy it himself as he grew to become a friend of yours. Knocking he almost instantly let you in.
,,I´m already making Tea. I´ll be right there.“ You heard him shout from the Kitchen.
,,Okay.“ You responded as you quickly laid down all your Notebooks you still had to grade and placed the box filled with cookies on his Table. You made some just for him knowing he has a sweet Tooth. Who else would drink their Tea with at least two or three tablespoons of sugar if it wasn’t their sweet tooth speaking out of themselves. Slightly chuckling you sat down on one of the Students Desks to start grading. You could simply work better on one of these as on one of the Teachers Desks. They just seemed too tall and too uncomfortable for your liking.
,,What is that?" Curious you turned around. ,,What's what, Professor?" He rolled his eyes as he heard the name you used. ,,On my desk."
,,I made cookies for you." As he continued to stare at you, you began to explain it to him. ,,I made some chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon ones and some plain ones. I know you like pumpkin so I bought some special cookie cutters at Hogsmead last week." Smiling you went up to the box, opened it up for him and showed him the small pumpkin shaped cookies.
,,See? Do you want to try some?" With caution he carefully took one and bit the half of it off. Waiting for his reaction as he chewed then putting the box aside and going back to your seat. ,,Do you like them?" He still kept chewing.
,,Actually- yes." A small smile made it's way across his lips and he ate the other half too.
,,I really hoped so." Sitting back down you waited until your Cup of Tea which now flew towards you sat in front of you. Severus always made the best tea.
Grading the last Homework you walked over to Severus huge Library Wall only to take the Book you used to read in the Daily. With butterflies in your chest you continued to read the few last pages of the book. You only had one third of the book left and by all means you wouldn't want to lose your tradition. So it happened that you started to reread the pages twice so you would have to spend more time with him or just in his chambers. Actually it’d only take you around 3 days to finish this big book but you didn’t wanted your shared time to end. The time has passed so quickly that you could feel how your body resisted to leave as it was time for dinner.
,,Are you coming with me for Dinner today?“ Severus just smiled. He was already done with his Papers and laid aside the Newspaper he just began to read.
,,Sure.“ He said only to follow you. He told you about something that had happened in his class today and about what he just read in the Newspaper.
,,No way!“ You Laughed grabbing his Arm in disbelief. ,,Imagine this happening to you- Merlin!“ Now he had to chuckle as well. He could make you laugh louder than anyone else. His dry Humor was just the best. After Dinner he walked you to your Chambers and you thanked him as always.
,,Good night, Severus. I see you at Breakfast.“ He put on a slight smile.
,,I´ll see you at Breakfast.“ His dark silhouette faded in the corridors and so did you in your chambers.
The weeks until Christmas was just a few days ago were just stressful. You and Severus almost never talked and just worked which was kind of tiring  you but you knew as closer as Christmas was around as closer was the Relief of all this Stress. After Lunch you planned to head straightly back to Hagrid helping him taking care of new magical Creatures he cared for. The small Bowtruckles were new here in this Region and you were too eagerly happy to get a chance to study them and present them in your classes next year. After downing your Tea you wanted to say goodbye to Severus before leaving but he stopped you at the end of the great hall.
,,Um err- would you mind meeting me later in my chambers? I've got something for you and - err- maybe I can cook dinner for us.“ Severus nervously stuttered while hiding his face with parts of his hair. He always made pauses while talking but you could tell he was acting a little bit shy and nervous. Smiling you nodded in agreement. That’s be a great opportunity to give him his Christmas Present you just finished.
,,I'll be there by 8." He quickly left your side in his well known manner. With his flying cape, showing off his presence. As he was gone and you couldn't hear his footsteps anymore you began to notice how red you turned. Your whole face was warm and your heart flattered. That always happened when Severus is near you. You had to admit, you like him. More than just a regular coworker. More than a friend. Maybe that's why you hurried the whole day to be there perfectly on time in front of his Chambers. Your heartbeat crawled up into your head and your hand was slightly shaking. Nervously you fixed your hair one last time and knocked ever so slightly.
,,Come in.." Severus quickly opened the door. ,,Please, come in." He tried his best to smile warm-hearted but you could see him being nervous again.
,,Good evening." He kept his Head low. You'd love to see his face.
,,Good evening , how are you?“ The both of you talked about your day and silently took a seat on the couch after finishing the smalltalk. The warmth of the Cabin reached you to the armchair. Severus sat across of you and began to rumble with his words.
,,I - Yesterday I went to Hogsmeade. I had to get some books and ingredients. And erm I - I came across the jewellery store and uh something catched my eye. I bought it for you." You felt your cheeks glow again. Severus stood up to grab a small package from above the cabin. For you?
,,But Severus- you didn't have to." Flustered you accepted the package as he handed it to you.
,,But it's almost Christmas and I really wanted to get you something." He almost whispered. With slightly shaking hands you opened it up. A small silver Hair needle fell into your hands. It was very pretty handcrafted and at the top was a green stone. It looked like it belong to a Slytherin and you couldn't help but smile. It was the prettiest thing you have gotten since a long time and it really made your heart flatter. The beautiful silver and the pretty green made it look like it belonged to someone royal.
,,It's so pretty." You looked up to his curious eyes. ,,Thank you so much , Sev. I don't know what to say." Small tears formed in the corner of your eyes and you couldn't help but cover your mouth while looking at the beautiful accessory. The Stone seemed to shine because of the dim light from the cabin. He really got something for you.
,,You like it?" Severus asked and his nervousness faded.
,,I love it." With a bright smile you stood up and fell into his arm. Crossing your arms around his neck and thanking him a million times. As you slightly let go of him you looked at him joking. ,,But you know those aren't my house colours right?" Again he smiled.
,,I know. I - I wanted to give you something that uh reminds you of me." Your smile faded and now the first tears started to roll down your face. It was such a thoughtful gift with a great meaning. You couldn't remember getting such a thoughtful and nice gift ever before.
,,Is everything okay,dear?" He hasty insured while checking your face.
,,Yes." You took a deep breath. ,,Yes. I will just dearly miss you over the holidays." He softly cupped the side of your arms and petted them before pulling you close again. This Time you could directly listen to his heartbeat. It was the first time he hugged you. You always hugged him but he never tried to hug or touch you.
,,I'll miss you too, I guess." He said almost cooing. ,,But maybe we can meet sometime? I mean only if your schedule allows and you're willing to-"
,,I'd love that, Sev." Now he pushed you away a few inches to look into your face. Your Tears already have stopped now by the feeling of being flustered taking over.
,,Sev?" He asked now.
You chuckled. ,,I think that's a cute nickname." You stated and he couldn't help himself but smile as well. He liked it too. ,,Are you ready for your Present?“ As you sat down again , took out the present of your small bag you began to nervously smooth out the edges of your wrapping paper. ,,I feel like I should have get you something else after receiving your gift." Embarrassed you turned red and handed it to him. But Severus didn’t mind, excited he opened it up. After holding it in his hands he began to smile widely. A black scarf which- for once- matched his height and wasn’t way too short like the regular ones.
,,Did you made it yourself?" He asked after noticing his small initials stitched into the fabric as he brushed over them with his fingertips.
You nodded. ,,Yes.“ Smiling he moved closer to you and pulled you into a hug. ,,That's the best thing I've ever gotten." He admitted and enjoyed being close to you in this intense Moment.
,,I'm glad you think so." Feeling relief you noticed how short your breath has gotten by now.  What’d you give to be even closer to him by now. Seconds passed and you didn’t let go of him, you simply didn’t dared to. The Moment he’d let go of you, you’d miss his touch instantly. But when his tall hands slowly stroked over your back you didn’t  felt like he’d want to let go as well.
A loud knock made you both tear apart. Scared you looked back to Severus. He looked as confused as you did.
,,Enter.“ Grabbing your Wand you got up, walking together with Severus to the door to see who interrupted you.
Hagrid almost tripped into the Chambers. ,,Ms. YLN, here you are. I need ya help! It’s about the Babies.“ He looked so panicked and your heart almost ripped apart but you just gave Severus a quick smile.
,,I´m sorry, I erm it’s urgent. .. I uh can be back in an hour. Is that alright?“ He quickly nodded and by that Hagrid grabbed your Hand to rush after him. Following this Giant Man you sighed. There was no worse timing right now. He pulled you right out of your Bubble of being close to Severus.
,,What happened to them?“ You asked him as he continued to hurry towards his hut.
,,Somethin´ in da forbidden Forrest bid them. Dunno know what to do!“ Pressing your Lips together you thought about Spells which could help you. If they were so small it could quickly be too late for any help if they didn’t got the right help. Quickly running to the small Baby Bowtruckle laying on Hagrids Table you inspected their wounds.
,,Shh, it’s okay. Let me have a look.“ The tiny leg was bent in weird directions and a small bite was visible. Taking out your wand you quickly healed the wound and took care of the small lad.
,,Do you have an idea what could’ve bitten them?“ Hagrid just shook his head. Sighing you let the Bowtruckles walk over your hand.
,,I can take them with me. It’s not the same like the forrest but they could grow up being safe.“ Hagrid helped you bringing them to your classroom before you quickly hurried back to Severus. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too mad.
Knocking you flattened the wrinkles on your dress. Severus opened the Door rather slow. He nervously scratched his head. His black hair was now tucked behind one of his ears.
,,I wasn’t expecting you to be back so quickly. Or to return at all.“ He admitted and you could already smell the Dinner he was cooking.
,,It was about the Bowtruckles I told you about. I brought them to my Classroom. Now I’m all yours, I promise.“ He let you slide inside and as you watched his movements you noticed that he was as flustered as you were.
,,If you want to you can keep reading until I’m done cooking?“ His Insecurities were still visible but as you smiled at him his tension faded.
,,Sure.“ Approving his idea you made your way to his living room as he continued cooking. As you watched him buzzing around in his kitchen from afar you opened your hair to adjust the hair needle he gifted you earlier. It fitted perfectly. A lot of hair needles were to short for your long yhc Hair but this one could hold everything in place easily and made you feel like a princess. You walked over to the mirror on the wall to look at your hair. You really liked it more this way. He got you the perfect present. Happy about the present you sadly realised how you forgot to bring your present for him at your chamber. You knitted him a scarf because you noticed how he never had one besides him. The green and black matching the house he was the head of.
,,You truly are beautiful." You slightly got scared as you didn't noticed how he stepped behind you. Your cheeks directly became red again. ,,Thank you.“ He took the Book from the top of the shelf where he lastly placed it only to put it in your Hands.
,,I´ll try to hurry.“ He assured before heading back to the kitchen.
If your students would hear his voice right now they would highly doubt it was him. His usual demanding voice now was low and casual and by that he went into the kitchen. Sitting down on his Armchair you could sometimes hear him mutter some small words like ,Fucking garlic' or something else which made you smile even more.
Who would have thought that you would sit on his Armchair on a peaceful night , reading a book as he was cooking for the both of you? It was almost like a date. Well actually that wasn't true. It felt like the future you wished so deeply for as a kid. The only difference was that you imagined it to be your husband but you didn't mind it being Severus. You knew he would never feel the same as you do. It was okay. It truly was. Sometimes you wished you could show him some affection- but he wouldn't like it. Being friends - which was obviously a huge step to make - was totally enough. You could hide your feelings if you had to. Having a good friend was all you ever asked for so you shouldn't bother yourself or even him with feelings who could ruin it all in a minute.
,,In 10 Minutes Dinner will be ready." He loudly announced from the kitchen. Surprised you looked up. He still hurried around the kitchen. Slowly you turned back a few pages. As you were lost inside your thoughts you couldn't remember what you just have had read. Putting a small paper in the book between the pages and closing it you had to sigh. Soon it will be Christmas and it would be your third one in Hogwarts. Maybe Severus would be here? Lost in your thought you walked over the kitchen where you spotted Severus opening some Wine. His arms pulled the cork without any sign of effort.
He scanned my face with his eyes and then made his way over to the oven where he pulled out some casserole. It smelled like heaven and soon the whole kitchen had it in the air. His movements made your Thoughts wander. His Arms were so strong- you never seemed to notice before.
,,Whats on your mind?“ Carefully he added a few last ingredients to the food as he pulled you out of your thoughts.
,,I erm was wondering how you celebrate Christmas?“ You lied blushing as he caught you thinking about him.
,,Actually I don't celebrate it. I don't celebrate anything." Shocked you now looked at him.
,,Not even your Birthday?" He shook his head which made his hair whip.
,,Not even my Birthday."
,,Severus! Who hurt you?" He had to laugh about your unbelievable expression. While pulling out a chair for you.
,,There's no sense in celebrating alone." Severus simply stated, pushing your chair slightly towards the table.
,,Thanks.“ Mumbling you thought about this nonsense. ,,Of course it is! I do it too." You added.
,,Then how do you celebrate it?" He now asked curiously and looked at you sitting down across of you.
,,I always celebrated it with my Family but since I work at Hogwarts I just.. spend it alone. Anyways firstly I get all the presents for everyone and make sure they arrive at the right place. Then I get a Christmas tree and decorate it. Afterwards I bake some cookies and in the evening I sit down to read a book and eat all those cookies. As simple as that." As you finished you expected him to say something but he kept on listening to you. ,,It sounds a little bit sad but it isn't that bad. I uh I try to enjoy my own company." Severus felt a little bit of pity. He knew you are really attached to other people and knowing you spend days which are important to you alone made his heart sink. He simply knew too well how being alone feels like.
,,As I already said, I uh would love to see you.“ He tried to uplift the Mood and placed some Food on your Plates. Nodding you thanked him. ,,I can’t wait.“ You admitted again and held up your Glas of wine.
,,Thank you for cooking for us and thank you for your present.“ He copied your movements and you slightly pushed your Glasses together. After you both took small sips from your wine you began to dine. His eyes always made sure you weren't spitting it out or something but actually you haven't had any reason for it.
,,It's really delicious. I never knew you were such a great cook?“ He chewed up and answered chuckling.
„I haven’t cooked for you before. Or anyone in general, so how would you know?“ You joined his chuckles and took a sip of wine again. As you tried to stretch your legs a little bit you accidentally touched his leg. Instantly his glance got up to yours and you pulled back your legs. It was like a small electric shock. A good one indeed.
,,S-Sorry." Blushing you locked my eyes with your plate. Your heart was pumping so fast you couldn't taste anything  of the food in your mouth anymore. Your nerves got foggy and your hands numb. Carefully you pushed around some broccoli on your plate. You liked touching his leg but he did he too? Did you reveal yourself? Carefully looking up he did the same thing you did a few seconds ago. Moving around some veggies on his plate. Was he bored of you? You didn’t knew. The air filled with so much tense it got harder to breathe. Biting on your lip you got an idea. It would cost some courage but it wasn't impossible to do. If it would fail you could simply excuse yourself by it being an accident but right now you had to know how he'd react. Laying down the silverware silently you carefully stretched out your leg towards his.
Now your legs were touching and you didn't dare to look up. The silence thickened and as it almost got too much he laid down the silverware himself and put one of his hands on your knee. Too excited your breaths got irregular and you could feel his heat storming through your body. With his thumb he started to draw small circles on your leg and as he continued for a while you looked up to him. Your face was probably fully blushed but he didn't seem to care. His dark eyes which have never looked this dark locked with yours. His expression didn't reveal anything. Was he enjoying it? Was he doing it because he thought it was what you wanted? Well, it was what you wanted but he just isn't the type of guy who'd do anything just because he think you’d expect it. Slowly his hand started to wander. A few millimetres upwards and you almost couldn't help yourself. Your thoughts wandered to things you could never say out loud. Imagining his fingers on places of your body you usually only touch myself.
As you realised how shaky your breath left my throat you grabbed your Glas of wine and flushed it all down. A small smirk appeared on his face.
,,Some more?" Quickly you nodded. You´d say yes to anything he would ask you to right now. He had the full control over you, you thought. How could a simple man make you so weak within seconds?
,,Want to continue this on the couch?“ Quick your legs pushed yourself up from the chair and you walked over to the living room. Not being able to answer him with your words. The whole Situation just became more interesting than you firstly anticipated beforehand. The mood has completely changed. There was something else in the air which you haven't felt before that intensive. Severus again opened another bottle of wine and now sat down directly next to you. He never did that. Usually there was atleast one pillow size distance between you or he sat in his Armchair. But now his legs touched yours and his arm touched yours as he leaned forward to the desk to reach for our glasses.
,,Thanks." You whispered and you felt like as if this wasn't anything you could dream of. The smell of his Aftershave filled your nose and the fabric of his trousers against your bare knees got you shaking. Silently you drank the first glass in silence. But at our second Glas he laid his hand on your leg. Not on your knee. On your Leg. Right before the fabric of your skirt started to hide your skin. Did he knew what he did to you? Could he feel your heartbeat? Could he feel your butterflies?
Closing your eyes I felt the alcohol hitting your nerves. It wouldn't take much to make you drunk but right now you felt like you would need every drip of any type of alcohol you could possibly get. Carefully you moved your head to your side to look at his face. He softly swung his wine in his hand and drank it too. His pink small lips cupped the Glas corner  and his hair flew a few inches back as he put his head into his neck and drank up. As he stood his Glas back down you wanted to be more offensive. He seemed to be interested, you thought. Slowly and with my glance on the cabin you widened your neckline to reveal more of my chest. His eyes hushed over to see what you were doing. Slowly, torturing slowly you revealed a small part of your throat. Continuing you showed him more and more. His hand on your leg clutched his fingers a little bit stronger into your flesh. You continued until you almost revealed your bra. As you looked over to him now he smiled slightly.
,,You're beautiful." He whispered. ,,I can only repeat myself.“ Slowly you pushed your weight a little bit up to sit down on his lap. His Hands instantly guided you. Making sure you were comfortable. Now you could hear his irregular breath as well.
,,I really like you, Severus." You admitted as you hugged him closely again. His Hands again rubbed your back and as you felt him stiffen under you you almost inaudible moaned. Hoping instantly this wasn’t the day he’d break your heart by telling you to back off.
,,The last few months uh I felt like I was acting like a freak and it took me some time until I understood that I maybe just got confused by something. Or someone." You now stopped in your tracks to look at him again.
,,Someone?" You asked.
,,You." His cheeks were red. ,,I really like you." He didn't knew where his courage came from but he knew it was the right time to finally admit it.
,,Really?“ You couldn't move out of fear of scaring him and his feelings away. Your heart beat so hard you feared he could see it banging from your chest. Did he really just say that? Or did the wine you had at dinner fogged your senses. Did he really just admit that to you?
,,You Don't have to feel the same but I wanted to let you know that i like you more than just friends.“ As he intended to back up a little bit you quickly moved towards him and pressed your lips against his. In your chest was a firework exploding and butterflies from the night escaping to your stomach. Softly he kissed you back and put his hands on your hips where they used to rest until the kiss was paused so the both of you could catch some air.
,,I like you too. More than just friends“ You whispered smiling.
His lips brushed against your earlobe. The words he spoke made your emotions going even more crazy. You could scream out of tension, happiness and even more out of lust. Being this close to him made you go crazy. You wanted to have Sex with him all night and at the same time you felt like this was an even more intimate Moment than you ever had before.
,,Would you like to stay for the night?" His raspy dark voice sounded like it just got even darker than before.
,,I’d love to.“ And again his Lips touched yours. Slowly and more passionate this time. The Night continued in more and more Intimacy. The Both of you wouldn’t spent Christmas alone this year nor the following ones.

Douxie for the character ask meme, please? (If he's already been done, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Hiccup!)
Why not both? Let's do it!!!
Douxie
What I love about him: How this boy is so confident, charming, smug, stylish, reckless, cool, adventurous on one hand and yet so profoundly humble, deeply caring, super kind, considerate, weak, and hurting on the other hand. You don't see those two go together often and it's attractive. So often people are using the first persona as a facade to mask the vulnerability of the second. But with Douxie you know that he's openly both. He's honest to the core and, as so many have said about him before, wears his heart on his sleeve. He's real. I love his careless, free-spirited, figure-it-out-as-we-go attitude towards life, the quick wit he uses to come up with spontaneous ideas and solutions, and it's absolutely mesmerizing to see him have fun. I would trust him with my life, and I want to meet an irl version of him one day!
What I hate about him: His eagerness to please Merlin becomes annoying fairly quickly upon the occasional Wizards rewatch, but it's bearable knowing you're obviously only supposed to go through the same issue once in life. And because you know he gets better. Other than that, I...um...I have to confess that I don't really like moppet. I would have liked to see him have at least one (1) good idea to show us that the wits of the older and smarter Douxie were already slumbering in his younger version. Or, alternatively, something to show us that his tiny, moppety problems were ALSO valid. But all we got was the dead stupid apprentice. There, I said it. Jail for Mother for One Thousand Years from all moppet lovers XD
Favorite Moment/Quote: You're making me pick? Impossible. I'll narrow it down! Um... the unexpected guitar is a classic favorite, then the "Eternal Time Trap/I am Hisirdoux Casperan!" speech and "That was kind of the plan." Yup. That's about it :)
What I would like to see more focus on: moppet, I guess, as stated above, Ash Dispersal Pattern and his relationship with Zoe and Arch. You could basically have given me a 5-hour documentary about his ordinary life and I'd have watched it.
What I would like to see less focus on: Nothing. We all wanted more, not less, and rightfully so! :)
Favorite pairing with: ...................me, please? Haha <3 oh, to cuddle with a bf in a hoodie as comfy as that...nahh, not really. I'm in love with his personality but I'm not sure I'd like the goth aesthetic every day of the week. Also, he's just a teeny-tiny bit too skinny and pale for my taste...and he prefers Zoe anyway. So that's that. To be honest, I can imagine him just staying single as well. He's got too much great big brother energy!
Favorite friendship: Claire and Steve. To watch both friendships grow and improve in their own unique ways is super satisfying to watch. I'm still 100% convinced that Douxie had no choice but to look at Steve one day and go "welp. I'm stuck with this idiot, so I might as well be his friend." Steve values it deeply, though.
NOTP: With anyone else but Zoe.
Favorite headcanon: That famous Ash Dispersal Pattern concert in New York City I just won't shut up about. Somewhere, in some universe, it happened and he had lots of fun and carried the smile of a child in his happy place :)
Thanks for asking, anon! Doing Hiccup under the Read More because this is getting a bit long :)
Lots of love <3
Reddie
Hiccup
What I love about him: Oof. He wears his heart on his sleeve as well, but introverted haha. He's quietly observant, incredibly smart, daring and brave. He's honest to himself too, playing only to his strengths and not even remotely trying to be someone else than he already is. He's very handsome, beautiful and a deep thinker.
What I hate about him: Hey, remember the other ask meme? The one where it said "if you could, which character would you whack over the head"? Yeah that's HICCUP. HOW CAN YOU BE SO STUPID. HOW CAN YOU WHO WERE PRAISED FOR YOUR SOPHISTICATION DENY EVERY SINGLE BIT OF LOGICAL THINKING UTTERED BY YOUR FATHER AND WALK INTO THAT STUPID TRAP SET BY DRAGO. AND HOW CAN YOU NOT REALIZE THAT IN HTTYD 3, YOU NEEDED AN ACTUAL PLAN BOY; BECAUSE YOU'RE CHIEF NOW AND YOU'RE DEFINITELY, UNDOUBTEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR LIKE 700 PEOPLE AND 2000 DRAGONS. No seriously, his development in the later movies drives me mad as heck. I projected a lot onto him when I was younger, and felt highly insulted when his character turned dumb. My greatest fear is that people will think that I'm that way. I'm all for spontaneity and taking chances, but NOT without thinking logically first.
Favorite Moment/Quote: Pheww...you're making it impossible to choose again. First one: That "Yes" after Astrid asks him whether he'd sacrifice it all for his pet dragon. Second: "Yesterday...when we flew together...it's like I got back something I didn't know I'd lost. And that's the part I'll choose to remember" (taken from a deleted Httyd 2 scene where Valka was still the villain). Third...the "Toothless made it easier" - "What are you going to do about it?" - "Probably something stupid" line from the last movie. Man, that scene was good.
What I would like to see more focus on: Frankly, the rest of his life. Because Httyd tells so much of his story, and well, life doesn't end as soon as you're married. I would have liked to see him be a great Chief. I wouldn't even want a Httyd 4 to be about his kids or something. Just him. I believe there's still more to him, you know.
What I would like to see less focus on: HIS OUTRIGHT STUPIDITY PLEASE AND THANK YOU
Favorite pairing with: Astrid.
Favorite friendship: Dagur. I just love how they were written to become brothers.
NOTP: Heather??? Whoever thought that was a good idea????
Favorite headcanon: Another happy flying scene where it's just him and Toothless in Httyd 3. And oh, yeah. The shield he brought to the cove in the first movie? It's still stuck between the two rocks. You bet.

history, huh?
chapter 3: propius
(check the rb for chapters 1 + 2 on tumblr + ao3 links!)
Adam was woken at 5 o’clock on the dot with a series of sharp knocks on his door. “Up and Adam,” Gansey’s voice called, making the one stupid dad joke that always set Adam’s blood to a boil. He was too tired to react, however.
“Kindly leave until a later time,” he called, his voice heavy with sleep. “I don’t have class for another three hours.”
Gansey opened the door anyway, striding in with more pep than anyone should have in the morning.
“You’ve made the tabloids, my friend. Your weekend with Ronan finally hit.”
“Did you sleep at all?”
“Nope,” Gansey said cheerfully. “‘From America, With Love: Ronan and Adam flaunt friendship.’” He turned on his heel once he’d crossed the length of the room, which Adam could never forget was formerly Malia Obama’s, and seated himself in Adam’s desk chair.
Adam had never been closer to considering strangulation. He elected to shove his hearing ear into his pillow instead.
Unfortunately, the muffled sounds of Gansey speaking still made their way in. “‘Photos: Adam’s Weekend in England,’ oh, that’s boring…ah-hah: ‘New Bromance Alert? Pics of FSOTUS and Prince Ronan.’”
Adam resigned himself to his fate and mentally promised himself a giant cup of coffee. “As long as I’m getting fewer death threats on Twitter, I’m happy,” he mumbled into his blankets.
Gansey ignored him. “Why are you so tired? It’s the hour of kings, time to be awake and alive.”
“I’d settle for dead if it meant I could sleep at this point, to be frank.”
“Please don’t be frank. Be Adam.”
Adam sat up, eyeing Gansey in his wire-framed glasses with disdain. “Any more puns and I suffocate myself with this pillow.”
“Please don’t,” Gansey said, but his eyes had already returned to his screen. While he read through the articles, he continued his line of questioning. “Working on the campaign late last night?”
“Not really,” Adam admitted. “I had a Press and the Presidency paper to write.”
“Just write ‘I’m Adam Parrish’ on a piece of loose-leaf paper to turn it in and you’ll probably get an A. You live it every day, for Christ’s sake.”
“And yet I still need to cite sources in Chicago Advanced.”
“You’d think nepotism would work out more in your favor.” He flicked to a fresh article, a gesture Adam only recognized from all the other times Gansey had done it. “Luckily, I think the press is eating this one up.”
Adam grimaced. “Fantastic.”
“Not-campaign-ruining, you mean.”
“That too, I suppose.” He wanted nothing more than to flop back against his pillows and get the sleep his body so desperately craved after being jet lagged for a week, but he fought the urge.
“That _ People _exclusive takes the cake, I think. I didn’t realize how much you cherished your relationship with Ronan.”
“Fuck off, please. Or end my misery.”
“No to both. Why are you even taking that press course?”
Adam slid out from under his blankets, rolling his shoulders to try and wake up more. “Curiosity, I guess. It never hurts to learn more of what not to do.”
Gansey looked up from his phone to level a glance at Adam. “And what have you learned so far?”
“…Don’t have a sex scandal?”
“You _ would _need someone to tell you that.”
_ “Hey,” _Adam said, affecting outrage.
Gansey lifted his thumb to run over his lower lip, tilting his head consideringly. “One of us three will probably have a scandal before your mother’s second term is up.”
“If there is a second.”
“Chin up, young padawan. With you working on it we’re guaranteed.”
“I don’t know, Gansey,” Adam replied. “I don’t think I’m the good luck charm you believe in.”
“Of course you are,” Gansey said. “We won the first time, no?”
Adam glanced exaggeratedly around the room and to the phone in Gansey’s hand. “I’d say so. That or we’re about to get questioned very thoroughly about the the events of last three years.”
“Don’t make me cut you off on the true-crime videos.”
His eyes narrowed, focusing on Gansey. “Don’t you dare.”
“Blue agrees, anyway,” Gansey said, successfully deflecting topics. “Said there’s a ninety-four percent chance you’ll get into a sex scandal before the general.”
“Both of you date more than I do, why am I the one who’s supposedly having a sex scandal?” Once his initial outrage passed, disbelief crept in at the time of day. “Did you just text Blue at five AM and get a response? How the hell did you manage that?”
“She’s been up,” Gansey dismissed. Adam stared at him for a moment, and then Gansey seemed to feel the weight of his stare. His eyes widened almost comically. “Oh, Christ, no, not that. Nate Silver asked for another set of eyes on the Superbowl predictions, and she’s trying to get a shoo-in with them before the primaries begin. I just brought her some coffee.”
“And you didn’t bring me any?”
“You’re the only one of us who hasn’t been up all night. You need coffee the least of all of us.”
“Don’t blame me for your bad decisions.” Adam squinted at Gansey. “Were you working on an article all night or something?”
He snorted. “Hardly. They’ve been blocking all of my pieces. Too far from my mother’s politics, too far from your mother’s, too controversial, too critical, all in that order.”
“Thought you were liking the _ Post _gig?”
“On paper,” Gansey dismissed. “I’ve defaulted to writing about Welsh history.”
“Sounds like it’s right up your alley, then.”
“Once again, on paper.”
“How do you even connect the Welsh to the hellscape of American politics?”
Gansey waved a hand. “‘Eternal spirit,’ ‘fighting for honor,’ ‘remembering Glendower and others who set a pristine model,’ et cetera, et cetera.”
“People read that? That just sounds like you in high school spouting off again.”
“Yes, Adam. People read it.” Gansey squinted at his phone again. “Twitter _ really _likes you and Ronan together.”
“We’re exciting,” Adam said dryly, reaching for his laptop. He scanned over his most recent paper while Gansey dramatically narrated replies to the gif of them on _ This Morning. _
“‘Either of them could stab me and give me one of those smiles and I’d thank them,’ Jesus Christ,” Gansey read, “They really love your fake smiles… ‘name a more iconic duo, I’ll wait,’ hm, maybe any other duo? ‘Oh my God, just _ kiss already.’” _
Adam choked out a laugh as Gansey punctuated the last one with a dramatic and uncharacteristic hand wave. “At least it’s working,” he allowed, shutting his laptop once he felt secure about his essay. “Now get out. _ Some _of us have places to be.”
Adam’s phone buzzed on his way out of his cursed Presidency and the Press course.
Somehow, the interest of those around him seemed to pique even higher when he looked at his phone instead of in front of him. It wasn’t a new sensation by any means; ever since starting at Georgetown, he’d felt eyes on him constantly, but the intensity increased tenfold each time his classmates thought he was too occupied to see them staring. He noticed every time, but of course nothing could be done about it.
The name _ HRH shitty bird boy _ popped across his screen. How strange - in only a week, he’d almost entirely forgotten that the name he had (quite maturely) given Ronan in his phone was… _ that. _As he swiped the notification open, he felt a certain amount of trepidation as to what a technology-averse prince would ever text him about.
His harassment and emergency fears flew out the window with the body of the text, simply a screenshot of their tabloid appearance with the added caption of _ youre the nerd and I’m the cool jock. _
_ Competitive yachting? _Adam asked in response, nearly tripping over his own feet while typing.
_ ffs i told them to stop writing that as my preferred sport. _
Adam felt his lips twist against his will.
_ I’m sorry, this is a common problem? _
_ you can’t even imagine. _
_ I appreciate that they consider competitive yachting a regal sport. _
_ status symbols and faux athleticism are the core of the monarchy. _
Adam blinked down at his phone, stopping short abruptly. Persephone, from behind him, adjusted accordingly.
He…hadn’t been expecting this. Any of it. The text, the almost-joking response, the casual statement about the monarchy being ridiculous despite him being in it. Their conversation ended there, and it was probably for the better. He resumed his pace, trying to get to his next class. He almost forgot about the texts, too; save for a rogue screenshot Adam sent him of speculation on Ronan’s presence in Majorca, nothing else went between them.
Sometimes, Adam could _ just barely _ get away with being on his phone during briefings with Maura. He hated to be distracted during them - they were _ important, _he knew that, but all the same occasionally she spent a particularly long time covering an obscure dignitary’s comments and he’d gotten too few hours of sleep to truly focus and someone or other was blowing up his phone.
Maura’s topic of conversation this week appeared to be a series of Buzzfeed articles run on the lack of pets in the First Family, complete with a power point dissecting their points
The glamorous side of politics, truly. Discussing a clickbait series in the West Wing briefing room.

_ That’s the biggest lhxemxlp_
His phone slipped from between his fingers, landing with a dull _ thud _onto the wooden floor. Adam stared helplessly at it, a sleek black rectangle hiding between types of oak. But Maura repeated his name, and he suddenly remembered what had made him drop his phone in the first place. He dragged his eyes up, staring at a spot on the sterile white wall just beyond Maura’s head.
“Adam,” she said a third time, but he refused to look her in the eyes. She conceded immediately. “What the hell?”
He felt his cheeks darken as blood found its way up. “I’m sorry.”
Her lips thinned just like Blue’s did, turning into a dark line on her brown face. “Do you even remember what I was saying?”
“Er…” he scrambled. “Don’t mention animals in any public setting?”
She looked at him for a long moment, then picked up a mug of coffee and took a controlled sip.
“Get out?” she said once she’d swallowed her sip.
“I-”
She pointed to the door. “I am impossibly busy. Take your phone and go laugh in private.”
He nodded once, finally, ducking under the table with his spine pressed against the bottom to grab his phone. His fingers closed around it, grip the edge of the wood, and he was up in a second.
He couldn’t regret it.
Because - well, here was the weird thing.
He wanted another text from Ronan.

The makeup _ was _really good, and the monstrous look suited him, but hell if Adam ever said that to him.
He may have saved it to his phone, though, to glimpse Ronan’s green-paint covered skin and crooked, drawn-on stitch smile on his perfectly blank face.
Although Adam certainly didn’t intend to make a habit of texting the Prince of England, when he saw a funny bird or a stupid article or an obscure meme his first thought became _I should send that to Ronan. _And Ronan, clearly, was thinking along the same lines. The sheer number of sole emojis that seemed to tell a Ronan-centric story he received at all hours only affirmed that. And somehow, between all the pictogramme and jokes, he started to learn snatches of information. Declan was a better storyteller than Ronan, Matthew was the only person who could make Ronan attend family dinners ever since their father died, and his mother - the Queen of England, Adam had to remind himself sometimes - drew further away every day.
The problem became that he always wanted to know _ more, _and Adam didn’t know if that was due to his rampant curiosity or something else buried deep inside of him, and he was too afraid of what he might uncover by digging to look.
Adam had very few friends.
Most of that came with the territory of being part of the First Family; nothing made casual acquaintances drift away quite like being constantly surveilled by Secret Service agents and trailed by NDAs. Adam didn’t have time for small talk and coffee, a fact which he sometimes lamented and often loved. Part of this came from the type of friendship he became accustomed to with Gansey and Blue, the all-encompassing type of friendship that took over their minds in spare moments and forged ties stronger than steel between them. He’d probably forgotten how to have normal, casual friends, not friends an outsider would think he was completely in love with. And, perhaps more than anything else, it came back down to Robert Parrish and his heavy hands and ringing words. Adam’s memories of his first few years were scattered and inconsistent, but they filled up a too-large corner of his brain all the same. Blue, who entered his life at the tender age of 5, had won his trust with greater ease than their other peers, and Gansey had done the same in high school. They knew him and what he’d been through, and so they could (platonically) love him for all that he was. When campaigning and political office came into the mix, that full truth of Adam Parrish became a secret to guard like any else.
But, oddly enough, Adam had a third friend: Noah Czerny, the thirty-three-year-old baby of the Senate.
Noah and Adam met through an Aglionby networking event while Adam was a student and Noah a recently-elected congressperson, both green as grass in different ways. Adam, thrown neck-deep into a Presidential campaign, had questions, and most of the time Noah had answers. Although all of the professors had warned Adam to proceed cautiously with Czerny, Adam found nothing to fear. Noah had mellowed out quite a bit from his high school days, becoming a familiar face at political events and a surprisingly-wise piece of advice always at the ready. Despite Adam’s near hero-worship of this brand-new politician, half-Mexican just like him and just as frequent to lose sleep rewriting policies that unjustly taxed communities of color or defunded children’s education, they’d formed an improbable bond. The summer before his sophomore year, Noah let Adam closer to the politics process than even his mother had as he ran for the Senate, and Adam took to it almost at once. A politician twelve years his senior was perhaps not a conventional choice of friend, but Adam seldom remained conventional.
It wasn’t too out of the ordinary for Adam to arrive at Noah’s congressional office unannounced, either with business or without, and so when Adam rounded on Noah’s stark, bright, white office, he wasn’t at all surprised to see him ducked over an obscene number of papers.
“It’s Friday night,” Noah said without looking up, barely before Adam had even crossed into the office. As always, the tiny burst of color in the Pride flag deposited in a tourist mug drew Adam’s eye for a long moment before Noah himself did. All Adam could see of him was his brown curls, resolutely held in place even as bent over a desk. “Go party or something.”
“Damn, I didn’t _ think _ this looked like a frat. I knew something was off.” Adam slid into one of the seats across the desk. He had several inches on Noah, but he always felt smaller in those chairs across from the most important legislators in the country. “What’s got you here at eight PM?” Off of Noah’s brief, incredulous look, he amended to _ “this _particular time, I know. You’re salaried. Shouldn’t you…ever go home?”
“I’m trying to get something done so that there’s at least a hope of banning fracking in our lifetimes.”
Adam scoffed quietly, though not for lack of faith in Noah. “Let me know when you’ve cracked the code.”
_ “If, _but sure, I’ll be in contact. Now, why are you here?”
“You didn’t answer my leaving-the-building question.”
Noah’s eyes flickered shut briefly. “Jesus, Adam, I am salaried by the taxpayers of millions of Americans. I’m not going to slack on them.”
“Fine, but don’t make me drag Gansey in here to make you take a long nap and drink some hot soup.”
Adam’s phone buzzed, but he ignored it; despite it being almost 1 am in England, Ronan could presumably take the blame. Noah asked, “Did you catch the Fox town hall last night?”
Adam grimaced. He’d seen part of it, trying to multitask with his macroeconomics homework at the same time, but instead he’d fallen asleep with his head on the laptop screen. “Part of it. It was a shitshow.”
“You can say that again.”
“I honestly thought that Whelk would pull more support from the extremists. He just seemed desperate last night.”
“Oh, he definitely was.” Noah leaned away from his desk, appraising Adam as though considering his words carefully. “We went to school together.”
“Aglionby?” Adam asked. He knit his eyebrows together. “How did I not realize he went there?”
“The school doesn’t exactly love toting him.”
“He’s older than you, though, right?”
“Yes, Adam,” Noah said slowly. “I’m thirty-three. He’s already announced a bid for President. How old do you have to be to run for executive office?”
Adam scowled. “I just came from class, I can’t use my brain. He was a senior when you were a freshman?”
“Yep,” Noah replied. “We were paired in upperclassmen-lowerclassmen bonding.” His lip curled a little. “He outed me.”
“Wait, _ what?” _
“He outed me to the school,” Noah repeated. He looked back down to the papers on his desk, his voice softening to a barely audible level. “I trusted him, which was a dumb thing to do, but I was a really stupid freshman. Scared, too. He was a friendly personality.”
_ “Fuck,” _Adam said, pushing a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, that’s…”
“Terrible?” A bit of Noah’s life returned to him. “Don’t worry about it, kid. It was years ago.”
“But then…Whelk, he was the reason you…?”
“He didn’t make my parents react the way they did. They did that on their own. But no, they wouldn’t have known without him.”
Adam shook his head. “I thought it wasn’t possible to like the guy less, if only because of his politics, but he’s done it.”
“Done what? Received the full wrath of Adam Parrish?”
“He very well may.”
“Don’t worry about him. Whelk will be out soon, believe me. I know him. He may have his parent’s money, but he’s barely old enough to hold office and he’s running on fumes.”
“If he’s not, I’ll convince Blue to skew stats until he is.” Noah knew just as well as Adam that that wouldn’t change anything, but it lightened the air anyway. “It seems kind of pointless to entertain any of them. Greenmantle is probably going to win no matter what.”
Colin Greenmantle: former antique collector, congressperson from Massachusetts, and millionaire with the funds to take over the Republican primary, and very possibly the whole election, before any papers were even filed.
“It’s early,” Noah said. “Too early to worry about it. Too early to even be _ talking _ about it.”
Adam slanted a half-smile at him. “Never too early to worry about an election.”
Noah looked back to his papers before broaching the next topic. “I hear you’ve got a job on your mother’s re-election campaign.”
“Once I graduate, and maybe a little earlier, yeah.”
Noah cast a glance around the office. “Are you sure this is the life you want?”
Adam knew he was referring to the constant bustle, the fear of disappointing and harming instead of helping, and the ever-evolving media scrutiny. He knew it was the closest Noah would give to a warning. “I’m sure.”
Noah sighed. “Fine.” He pointed to the door. “But I won’t let you throw your youth away, not this early. After you graduate, Parrish. Go get drunk and make out with someone.”
Adam stood, his frame unfolding and standing tall. “You are a terrible role model.”
“Can’t hear you over the loud music.”
“You and Blue and Gansey - if I die of alcohol poisoning, it’s all your fault.”
“Feel free to blame, so long as you’re out there and not here.”
“Alright, alright, Jesus. You’ve made your point.”
“Finally,” Noah called after Adam’s retreating form. But Adam could hear the amusement in his voice all the same.
For someone so allergic and averse to technology, Ronan sure seemed to share a lot with Adam.

_ she wont stop nuzzling my head?? _
_ Picking for lice, probably. _
_ God knows you have so many. _
_ my scalp is perfectly clean _
_ Forgive me for abstaining from running my hands over it all the same. _
_ I’ll leave that to her. _
He didn’t always respond, though.
Adam tried not to read into it.
(He mostly succeeded.)
Adam never tired of stepping into the Oval Office. On the Wednesday right before Thanksgiving, he stepped in with the same amount of awe he always had, allowing himself a single moment to glance around at the wide windows and perfectly upholstered furniture. He sat on one of the couches without preamble.
His mother looked up from what was in front of her on the desk and smiled, albeit a tired one that frayed a bit at the corners; Adam had seen a few particularly troublesome foreign dignitaries be escorted away not long before, so he didn’t have to guess at the reason. Ana looked like she belonged to sit right there amongst all the history at that desk, from the sun dipping just beneath her halo of hair straightened within an inch of its life and her stick-straight posture. It might have been a lot at times, but seeing her was a reminder of all the good that came from her position.
She rose and walked to join him, her heels clacking lightly at the ground before she sank onto the cushion beside him and pulled him into a loose hug. Adam had overtaken Ana in height some years before, but there had been a long gap in there as he grew - like one day he was three and a half feet tall and wrapped tightly in her arms and the next he was off to Georgetown and several heads taller. She pulled away after a minute, slowly and bit-by-bit as though savoring her moments as a mother rather than a president. Her hand reached to muss his hair a moment later, and Adam ducked away instinctively before exchanging an identical grin with her.
“God, I forgot how light your hair looks in here,” she said, leaning back a little. “Almost golden.” She tilted her head as though examining him. “Nah. Still brown. But much lighter.”
“How could you forget? The photo here was in _ GQ, _the same article that first declared me the family golden boy.” At the corner of their conversation was the knowledge of where he’d inherited that hair color, as it sure as hell wasn’t from Ana. But he let the thought stay buried, patting the dirt back down with the shovel himself. Their relationship always had an absence in it, and he didn’t particularly feel like deepening it in the Oval Office.
“Ah, so that’s the one I have to blame for your big head,” she responded, reaching for a piece of fruit from the little coffee table. It was a familiar half-jest, borne from Adam’s constant contradicting confidence and imposter syndrome. Idiosyncrasies were just Adam’s style, never one to make things easy for himself. He sometimes wondered if so much of himself conflicted because he tried to walk the middle road so often, balancing his weight over all sides to minimize the damage if the rug was yanked from beneath him, like lying down on a bed of nails: a thousand tiny, dull pains over one sharp, potentially fatal puncture. She smiled again. “Is Noah doing well?”
“For Noah he is. He would barely look up from some new reports on fracking, seems hopeful he’ll be able to garner enough support.”
Ana snorted. “Good luck with that. I’ll be shocked if it reaches the floor for debate.”
“That makes three of us, then.” He nodded towards the desk. “Bad meeting?”
The frown lines on her face deepened. “Don’t get me started,” she drawled, falling back fully against the cushions. After only a moment, she _ did _ get started regardless of what Adam did or didn’t do. “We received the memo a few days ago that a delegation from Sweden wanted to be in contact, right? Fairly standard stuff, Maura gets back to them quickly because they worded it like it was an urgent matter, and there’s a back and forth for a while about scheduling and accommodations. We’re of the belief they won’t be out here until Monday at the earliest.”
Adam knit his eyebrows together. “It’s not Monday.”
“You fuckin’ tell me. Anyway, I’m halfway through a meeting with a few UN representatives when Maura has to interrupt. They arrived at the White House, claimed they had a meeting, and just…didn’t leave. Evan Maura couldn’t get through to them, which is the thing that scared me a little.”
“You should have put Calla on it.”
“Believe me, if she were here, I would’ve. But as it was, I had to hurry out the UN members to deal with decidedly more antagonistic foreign relations.”
“Why were they even here?”
“They wanted to discuss the military relationship between our countries-”
“What the hell?”
“Yeah, I don’t know,” she said, waving one hand in dismissal. “Any points they were trying to make went straight out the window when they started pulling out cue cards, to be honest. I might have to call Löfven to smooth things over.”
“Well, there’s never a dull moment,” Adam said fairly. His mother snorted.
“Sure isn’t. Anyway,” she said, glancing at her watch, “it’s now Thanksgiving, so no more meetings for twenty-four hours.”
“It’s Wednesday.”
She pulled a face in dismissal. “We take our patriotism seriously, darlin’. Don’t want our home state gettin’ too mad.”
“Of course.”
Ana checked her watch again. “The turkeys will be on their way to the Willard by now, so we’re not ruining any American traditions today.”
“Wait,” Adam said. “Where?”
She looked at him, her eyes narrowing. “The Willard. They stay there every year.”
“What? No. _ No. _You cannot give the turkeys five-star accommodations with taxpayer dollars. You’ve been doing this every year?!”
“It’s public knowledge, sugar. Every news outlet mentions it.”
“How did I not-” Adam cut off. “There is no way you can do that! They’re turkeys! It’s a waste!”
“It’s precedent, Adam. I’m not sure if there’s anything to be done at this point.”
Adam stood quickly, pacing back and forth, and his mother stood behind him. “It’s a _ blatant _waste of money, I’m shocked we haven’t already been-”
“Hon, every president so far has done the same-”
“Imagine the story if we broke the tradition! Even conservatives would have to applaud your frugality-”
“We can’t play games with tradition, you know they already call us disrespectful-”
“-we can’t be using _ taxpayer money-” _
“-by all means, if you have the time to find lodging for two forty-pound turkeys-”
“Put them in my room!” Adam blurted. His mother stopped short.
“You’re not serious,” she said. “We’re not putting the turkeys for me to pardon in your bedroom.”
“Yes, we are.”
“Adam-”
He shifted his feet, coming to a stop. He lifted himself up to his full height. Debate Captain Adam, six-time Best Delegate Adam, and First Son Adam converged into one. His mother barely looked phased.
“Oh, God,” his mother said. “I can’t listen to another sales pitch.”
“Madame President,” Adam began, “I’d like to echo the sentiments of the forebears before me-”
“Nope,” she said, making double-time back to her desk. “You’re not going to filibuster me.”
“In 2018 alone, at least forty-three articles in the Wall Street Journal accused the sitting administration of wasting tax dollars. This came on the heels of a tax increase for Americans making more than ten million dollars per year and the subsequent pushback from a more conservative electorate in Congress.”
“Fine!” Ana said, her hand falling to the desk with a thump. She brought it back up to her head to massage her temple a moment later. “I’m too tired to hear my own history read back at me. You win.”
He sat back down on the couch, crossing his legs primly. “Perfect,” he said, allowing himself to smile once again.

What we were and what we are
Tumblr media
One Shot/ Random
A/N: Take it as an emotional dump. I will put a keep readying line since I don’t think anyone would want to read this. XD Have fun anyways if you wish to stay friend. Who knows maybe it could be a Yoongi x Reader , friends to lovers story, idk.
Word count:   2,535
Playlist recommended for this : Jin-Epiphany   Big Bang- Loser  Big Bang- Blue   at the end you can try BTS- We Are Bulletproof The Eternal
Warnings:  dark, anxiety, talk of trauma , be yourself please
                   ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  The sky was covered with soft cotton candy like clouds, tinted in the colors of the ending day. Oranges, reds, blues, yellows, you name it it was there. The wind was warm and but a whispering tender sensation over your exposed skin. The grass pillowing your body under the roughly placed cover, as your head moved up and down by Yoongi’s breath. Laying onto him felt like a antidepressant pill to you.Time had stopped. He was leaning onto his left arm as you both were looking up at the sky. His free hand from time to time brushing over your hair.
“Your mom is calling.” he said taking a glance at your lit up phone screen
“Leave it.” you didn’t even use all the breath in your lungs with this sentence.
“Shouldn’t you pick up tho? I mean she is your mom.” Yoongi’s eyes now focused onto you
“Nah man, she is probably mad at me for something. My mom or not, good or shitty relationship, no matter how much parents say ‘i understand you’ or ‘i was your age once too’ .It never works, telling them anything ends up being a pain in the ass later. Asking for help when you fuck up is the same.” you tried following a lonely cloud with the corner of your eye
“I guess them not accepting that something is wrong with their kids is a defense mechanism.”
“That fucks us up tho. Just because they want to lie to themselves to feel better, leaves their kids untreated and undiagnosed ,messing them up. Years of being bullied and not knowing why, can’t study even if they try, can’t be themselves. Such an easy solution, yet such a hard choice to make to take the first step.” you sighed as you spoke out, a bit of disappointment mixed in with your breath.
“Ha ha ha.” Yoongi laughed under his nose before laying back down
“The fuck did I say?” you cut him off, thinking the giggle was a bit displaced in this talk
“And when you take the first step? What then? The so called professionals lie to us too, give us chemistry and tell us all will be ok as they turn us into addicts to fake serotonin. Psychologists? The word comes from Greek meaning the study of the soul, yet those assholes look at us as bags of meat that you can stuff with pills. Yet we would do anything to get that drop of calmness, that feeling of being a bit happy for being alive right now. And when the effect passes? You want more and more, pill after pill, pharmacy after pharmacy. What difference is there between us people with anxiety and disorders and drug addicts? The medical degree probably.”
  You smirked after his last words “ Not all doctors are bad, but you can feel how genuine they are, the rest are health merchants. I don’t think there was a difference in the first place. Drugs, alcohol, smoking fuck it, even sex, man. It’s all to fill that void with dopamine, serotonin and all the bio crap.”
“Isn’t that chemistry tho?”
“We learned it in biology class so it’s bio to me. Do I look like a professor to you?” you rolled over and flicked his nose earning a ‘yah!’ “Hey.”
“Wasup?” Yoongi pulled his hand from under his head and spread his arms wide like a star in the vast sky.
“You know that thing where people ask you, if you saw your younger self in front of you right now and they were having the same feelings as you. What would you do?”
“I don’t know honestly, probably give the little guy a hug and some money ,or buy him something to eat. Someone out there for sure has it shittier than me, but I guess one of my mistakes was to undervalue my own emotions and mental state. Fuck, i got myself in such a hole. When people say ‘after you hit the bottom there is no where more to go but up’ , honestly that is straight up crap and bullshit. Some of us keep clawing and digging fearing that there is more to come. “
“Ah.” a memory popped up in your head on it’s own “That shit hole. Yeah, either you lose yourself laying there with bloody fingernails and hands, or you start crawling back up like a bug. You know, the blood is gonna stain the walls so next time you fall you will remember and catch yourself...if you make it that far.” lifting your hand, you covered a bit of the sky with it, noticing the colors around it “What about the times we reach out but no one grabs on?”
“Fuck! Y/N! We were supposed to have a nice walk in the park not a whole ass depressing talk session!” Yoongi hissed out, unlike his words his voice wasn’t angry
“Oh come on, you know that somehow we always end up talking about this shit.We are both broken pieces, but I think that isn’t bad at all.” you felt his breath stop under you for a split second “I feel like that is why we fit so well together.”
“Oh for real?” he asked a bit surprised by your words “I always thought it was because we were both hella toxic.” you swung your hand and hit him in the stomach “OOF!” he folded in half, sending you sitting up “I forgot how aggressive you were too.” Yoongi’s voice was coming from between his teeth.
“I am serious! I feel like we went through our hard times and learned to manage, that is why we can talk about all these things like this.”
“Makes sense, we were each other’s shoulder. You start falling, I pull on you and the other way around.”
 You noticed the contagious smirk on his face that mirrored onto you almost instantly “We fall together, we crawl back up together. Damn we sound inspirational.”
“I told you! We should make one of those vlog channels where people wake up at 5 am looking like damn models, meditate and finish all their work before 11am.” throwing your body back you fell onto the cover, but Yoongi didn’t join you. He staid sitting, letting you focus on his back as he continued “You know we are losers, right?”
“The biggest losers out there.”
  He looked towards the sky letting the wind play with his hair, when suddenly you both burst out laughing. Your voices were so loud the birds flew away. “Yeah, we are.”
“Honestly tho Yoongs. Why did we care so much what people thought of us? I mean sometimes I still do but-”
“Same, same.”
“Don’t cut me off stupid!” you kicked him a bit “As I was saying!” you emphasized on ‘saying’ ,when he pinched your leg in retaliation a couple of times “Body types, dudes, girls, genderfluid or no gender at all. Being cute or stylish, pretty or ugly, was a mad waste of time. The nerd is gonna probably become rich, the ugly people will end up becoming better lookin that those basic Karens. I swear, even with all that bulling and people wanting be to be the top. With or without them the Earth keeps spinning .”
 “Did you just discriminate flat earth people!?” he gasped cartoonish “Y/N, i didn’t know you were this type of person.”
“Yah! You really out here trying to cancel your best friend, Min Yoongi!”
“You don’t need me to do that, you already do it yourself with the stuff you say.”
“Says you, loser.” your words made him lean onto his elbow next to you, eyes focused on your face as the colors of the sky began fading over your bodies and skin
“I like that word, loser.” he said “It sounds rude, but at the same time no one calls you that if you aren’t different. Different means unique, special. Who tf would want to be the same as others?”
“That was us too stupid, back then.” Yoongi pocked your cheek a couple of times gently
“Yeah, but it’s not back then anymore Y/N. It’s now. We grew up. With our jaw and fist clenched we fought and made it here. They shot at us, they threw rocks and called us cowards, weirdos. But we made it through the darkness. After all that we are and will forever be bulletproof.” the sudden rustle of the grass under you two signaled him getting up and spinning, hands to the side. His head leaned back and he looked so happy. Yoongi’s eyes were closed, he could fall and not even notice, but he wasn’t afraid no more. Whatever happens will happen.
“You make us sound hella dope man. I love it.”
“Anxiety, social issues, any kind of mental problems and disorders. They level us up, as long as we try. At the end of the day you lose something to win something.”
“The end of the chapter is the beginning of the next.” you began to notice he was starting to lose balance from all that spinning around “Hey stupid, you will fall and hurt yourself like th-” you couldn’t even finish the sentence when his legs tangled up and he fell onto you “You ok?!That was such a stupid move! Open your eyes next time!”
“Why?” he became serious, his eyes looking into yours. Yoongi crooked his head to the side,as his fingers caressed your cheek “If I was looking I would have been too afraid to fall. At the end of it all i ended up failing and found a little angel. See? Win win to me. You can’t always see where you are going, but you gotta believe that good things are on the other side.”
“You are bleeding, that is what is on this side.”
“I am WHAT!” his forehead was a bit scratched “Damn it! My handsome face!”
“Oh come on! Wait till I glow up like that! I will get the best looking SO out there.” the child in you was pouting at Yoongi
“You know damn well we are too messed up for a relationship with others. We try and try, get used and then we either lose interest, or fall completely out of love for months. By the way...” his fingers found your cheek again, but this time it wasn’t a gentle poke but a sharp pinch. Your hands flew in the direction of his arm to try and make him let go of you. “Who told you you don’t look good?”
“Ow ow Yoongi! Let me go!!!”
“Not until you tell me who said all that crap to you!?” prying yourself from his grip you continued rubbing the now red and warm spot
“People i liked or others in general. You know how shit goes.”
“You for real need to get your eyes checked! People stare at you when you walk by cus you look TOO good.” his words were like a low growl of a jealous pet
“Nah man, they are either judging me or they want to fight me. There is no middle ground here.”
“You really!” with all the power in his hand he flicked your forehead
“Stop inflicting me wounds!”
“Then stop talking shit about yourself! I swear your bodydismorphia needs to join Jimin when he has talk sessions about his day with Hoseok.Plus, people do stare at you when you walk in town in the attracted way. On our way here at least 5 people turned back and continued looking.”
“Ew creepy!” you said “Why do you count them!”
“You little!!!Come here!” your neck found itself in a chokehold in a matter of seconds
“HYUNG!”Jungkook’s voice echoed through the park reaching your direction “Y/N AND YOONGI ARE BEING THE DEPRESSED AND FLIRTY AGAIN!”
 “This kid I swear I will kill him some time soon!” you hissed at Jungkook
“You two really can’t drop this habit.” the slow and calm footsteps pulled your attention and soon subsided your anger
“Joon, you know how we are.” you added, leaning back onto you elbows
“I know, we are all like that.” Joon looked at you two sitting on the ground
“Y/N is right, broken pieces do find each other.” Yoongi added, but Joon sighed and rubbed the back of his head. He squatted down eye level
“Broken pieces find each other because they fit together and make a beautiful new bottle that they can fill up with happy memories. Our sad and hard pasts make us titanium that can’t be broken. Even if one of us cracks, we are all going to help him become stronger.” he reached his hand out, standing up “ You are not alone Y/N, we are going to be forever titanium. You have us and we have you now. We are not lonely or misérables with you.”
“WE ARE BULLETPROOF GUYS!” Jungkook yelled out again
“Yeah...we are.” with a smile shining brighter than ever ,you grabbed Joon’s hand.He pulled you up as you were holding onto Yoongi. When the chain starts no one can cut the bond. We pull each other up...is what you realized.
“Oh and.”
“Yes Joons?”
“Can you two date already or at least go out on a date. It hurts looking at yall like this.”
“What!?” the blanket in your hand turned into weapon as you began hitting him with it in a moment of panic. His words hit a nerve.Yoongi wasn’t the one to rush or to run. With his hands in his pockets he followed you down the hill. His footsteps stopped for a moment to look at the now dark sky.
 We may not be able to see the stars during the day, but at night they are too many to even count. Nothing is truly hidden forever, even who you are meant to be. It’s ok not to know now or later. When we are young we dont really know. We try to fit in a mold that was created, but we can’t, we just can’t no matter how much we try.
 We end up being labeled by the things we are different. Some come from a darker past, others don’t. Yet everyone is important, the way they feel, their emotions and inner state. If I could, I would grab your hand and show you a bit of the future. Think of this, your future self, the one that did it all finally and continues to dream big, is looking at you through memories. They grab your hand and push you forward towards the good. The tunnel may be dark, cold, lonesome and scary but it always leads to something. Just don’t give up.
  Regret, unsuccessful love, residual feelings for someone who used you. They are all a stepping stone, don’t look at them. Now you know what not to do, EXP( experience points)  come in many forms honey. Be who you want to be, life is yours. Be the main character in your story, not anyone else’s. Even if you fall sometimes, show everyone how amazing you are by standing up. Baby steps turn into miles, whispers become yelling, crawling becomes flying. Breaking the mold becomes you.

Our Great Perhaps
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nishinoya x reader
Summary: You two have been dating for about 3 years. You met him in your first semester of college, and you two have been pretty strong. Now, however, taking into account each of your career paths has brought up issues. Maybe, it wasn’t meant to be.
Genre: crack, angst, college au (first part)
Warnings: cussing
Part Two || Part One: here
The drive back to your house was casual and friendly, but you could definitely sense a bit of tension.
He dropped you off and left. As soon as you were inside your home, you immediately burst out into tears.
There was no way he was waiting. Especially not for you. He needed a shot at love. You weren’t there, but she was. He’s probably happier now, too.
You curled up into bed and fell asleep from the exhaustion of crying so much.
~~~~~~~
Your first week back home flew by quickly. The new branch was getting along nicely, and everything was running smoothly. Your friends would drop by from time to time, asking about the latest details of your love life. That’s when you mentioned to them whom you had bumped into earlier that week.
“Oh my gosh!” “How’d it go!?” “Do you still have feelings for him?” “He has a girlfriend, now, by the way. They’ve only been dating for about 5 months now.”
The barrage of questions was overwhelming, but you got to each of them. And you were heavily interested in his new girlfriend. Just how much did your friends know about her?
“She’s a nurse, so she’s always busy. She met Nishinoya when one of his students sprained their ankle, while playing. Sometimes, when I bump into him on the street and he’s on his phone, I hear them arguing or something. And they never really go out, so I don’t know what they’re like out on dates and stuff.”
Wow. It really seemed like your friends did some investigating for you. It was nice to know that they’ll always have your back. But, you knew that this wasn’t something you should really be meddling in. He has his life and you have yours.
You two can be friends and all, but nothing more. No matter how desperately you wanted it. You missed everything about him. His new girlfriend was the luckiest girl in the world.
“Oh by the way, y/n!! Since we’re already on the topic... Guess who texted me yesterday, asking for YOUR number???”
“No way. Don’t tell me.”
“NISHINOYA!”
“Why would he want my number?”
“He just told me he wanted to keep talking to you and stay in touch.”
You couldn’t believe it. Was it really happening? Nishinoya still wanted to talk to you.
Your phone buzzed. All your friends stared at the screen. “Well, speak of the devil.”
The message read: Hey, y/n! It’s Noya. I hope you don’t mind but I got your number from xxx. I just wanted to keep talking and be close again like back in college (:
You were sure that your heart had completely shut down by then. Even if you couldn’t be around Nishinoya in the way you wanted, you sure as hell weren’t going to decline this.
You were so excited and nervous at the same time, that you almost forgot to reply.
“Y/N! You’ve gotta say something!!”
“Alright already! I will! I just don’t know what to say..”
“Just say a simple hey? Like you’re interested but not TOO interested, ya know?”
“Okay, got it.” You began typing: Hey, Noya! I don’t mind, and yeah of course. I’d love to keep talking (:
The rest of the night was full of the juiciest gossip of the town and exchanging ridiculous worst date stories.
~~~~~~~
As the weeks dragged on, you found yourself texting Noya more than anyone else. He was the highlight of your days.
Every time your phone buzzed with a message from him, your heart would skip a beat. You’d still think over exactly what you wanted to say to him, being careful not to cross any boundaries.
Unbeknownst to you, Nishinoya was feeling the exact same way.
You two talked about literally everything in the world. Except for one topic: his girlfriend. There was no way you could bring her up in conversation casually. It would be crossing the line, definitely.
~~~~~~~
It was just another average day. You were pooped after having to work so much that week. You were looking forward to relaxing on the couch and catching up on your favorite sitcoms.
Noya had been texting you nonstop all day. It felt great, but you couldn’t help but wonder if he texted her like this too.
What are you up to tonight?
Oh, you know the usual. Just gonna snack and watch Netflix. How about you?
Not much. Still trying to decide what I wanna do. What are you gonna watch?
I’m in the mood to rewatch That 70′s Show to be honest, lol.
I remember you watching that show every night! It’s pretty funny
Yeah, that’s why I watch it, lmao.
You got room for one more?
Fuck. What the fuck. Was he being serious? Or joking around? You hadn’t seen him in a while, since you’re both so busy with work. But today, your days off coincided with one another. Sure, you two had hung out together before, but never somewhere as private as your home. You’d been to restaurants and bars, but that’s pretty much it.
If he’s serious, that means he wants to come HERE. To YOUR house. He wants to be in YOUR house, with YOU. With you.. ALONE.
Your mind was racing. With shaky fingers, you replied playfully: Only if you’re bringing takeout!
The next few minutes felt like an eternity. Five minutes went by. Ten minutes. Soon enough, an hour had gone by, and no answer.
Had I crossed the line? you asked yourself.
-BUZZ-
What’s your address? I’ve got sushi and more snacks (:
You quickly messaged him your address, with your heart ready to burst out of your chest, and your brain ready to explode.
Another five minutes pass by.
-KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK-
He still knocks three times.. You open the door and find him semi-dressed up in a cute red button up and dark blue slacks. He was glowing.
In his hands, he was carrying a bag of sushi and chow mein takeout. In the other hand, he had your favorite: Hot Cheetos.
How the hell did he still remember everything about you?
“Hey, sunshine! Ready to binge watch some That 70′s Show?”
“Yeaah.” You let him in and placed the bags on the coffee table by the couch. You started setting everything up, still shaken up over his pet name for you.
Noya quickly made himself comfortable on your couch, picking a spot right up next to you. The distance between you two shortening, every time he took a bite of his food.
His hearty laughter made your heart flutter and your stomach flip. The show was funny, but not THAT funny.
Before you knew it, your knees bumped into one another’s. The distance between you was nonexistent now. When your knees touched, you jumped a little, startled from the sudden intimacy.
“Oh, sorry! I guess I scooted in too close. I just didn’t want to be TOO far from you, you know?”
“Ha, it’s okay.”
The show droned on in the background, as you two fell silent. Nishinoya then grabbed the remote and muted the TV.
“Hey, y/n?”
“Yeah? What is it, Nishi?” You regressed back to calling him the special nickname only you ever used, without realizing.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Anything.” You meant it. You’d do anything for him in a heartbeat.
“Do you still remember the first time we met? In our psychology class, the first year of college?”
“How could I ever forget?”
“Did you feel like it was love at first sight, too?”
You hesitated. Why was he bringing this up? Right now, especially. You stared at him for what felt like ten minutes, taking him in again. He had changed physically from the last time you were with him in your old apartment. His eyebrows were well groomed, he grew a bit of chin stubble, and he had smile lines on his face..
But he was still the same person you fell in love with all those years ago.
The silence dragged on, until you interrupted it. “Yeah. It did feel like that, huh?”
“I’m glad it wasn’t just me.” It seemed like he wanted to keep talking, but he stopped himself, mid-breath. He unmuted the TV and went back to watching, but the tension brought on by the questions still lingered in the air.
Unable to deal with the awkwardness, you started cleaning up, and stood up, right in front of him. “Why?”
Confused, he asked, “Why what?”
“Why are you doing this? Why bring up the past? I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, but I still have feelings for you, okay?”
“I know.”
“Then what’s the point of torturing me like this? You have a girlfriend..”
He got up immediately and pulled you in for an unexpected, sloppy kiss. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t want it, but you pushed him off anyways.
“Stop. Please. Don’t do this to me.”
“Kitty..”
You couldn’t believe he was using his old pet name for you. All you could do was point at the door, baffled by his rapid change.
He wasn’t moving. Instead, he pulled you in again, but with more force. He was restraining you while embracing you.
“Let me go, please, Nishi. Don’t make this harder.”
You were practically sobbing at this point. Why couldn’t he understand that this was wrong? You weren’t his girlfriend, nor would you ever be.
You felt your shirt dampen with his tears, as well. Why was he crying too?
“I broke up with her a week ago.. I’ve missed you so much.”
His hold on you loosened, and you took that as an opportunity to drape your arms around his neck, as you kissed the tears on his face away.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”
“Please believe me. I just want you, y/n. I’ve been waiting for you to come back. But after waiting for 4 years, I gave up. I started dating around, trying to find someone like you, but no one could ever compare. You’re the love of my life, y/n. Please don’t leave me again..”
“I won’t. I promise.”
“God, it’s been so hard to be here without you. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. I still love you. I’ve never stopped loving you, and I’ll always love you.”
“I love you and I’ll always love you too.”
That night, you two shared a bed again for the first time in seven years. Everything in the universe fell back into place. You had found your Great Perhaps.
Stargaze
(George Weasley x Reader)
summary: your lifelong best friend George asked you to sneak out and go stargazing with him one night, but for reasons unknown to you, so you decide to ask him why he’s yanked you outside.
warnings: none
word count: 1,060
key: y/n (your name) y/h/n (your house name)
a/n: okay it’s been a hot minute since i’ve wrote anything, and my first time writing on tumblr so apologies if this is a little rough lol
Tumblr media
(not my gif)
•—-•—-•—-•—-•
“Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.”
You nodded along with George. The view of the sky late at night was always beautiful, the stars shone brighter than ever. It illuminated the land and everything surrounding. You laid on a soft red blanket knitted by his mother last Christmas as a gift to him, along with a classic Weasley sweater. Your brooms laid by your heads, and you two were next to each other, hands almost touching. “I’ve never seen Hogwarts at night like this,” you chuckled a bit. He whipped his head to look at you. “You’ve never seen Hogwarts at night?” Your head shook no. “Well then, I’m glad I’m here for your first time.” Another quiet giggle escaped your lips. You turned your head to look at the redhead, finding that he had already been turned to look at you.
You had been friends with George for what felt like an eternity, but was more like five years. You met during your first year, you having become good friends with his little brother Ron almost instantly. You, being an annoying prankster as well, you fit in pretty well with their family. All of your free time was spent with the twins, so it was pretty hard to not catch feelings for one of them. As much as you had wanted to push aside your feelings and pretend they didn’t exist, you couldn’t. His stupid laugh and smile would make you fall more in love with him everyday. And honestly, who could blame you? Anyone in your position would’ve fallen for one of them. It just so happened that you fell for George rather than Fred, or Ron even.
“Why did you want me to come out here anyways?” George immediately shrugged his shoulders. “Can’t a guy just want to sneak out and stargaze with one of his best friends?” he spoke with a bit of hesitation in his voice, confusing you at first, but you shook it off anyways. “Yea but you’re not just some guy, there has to be more of a reason.” An awkward silence filled the air instead of an answer, not what you had been expecting. “Actually,” he finally broke, “there was something I had wanted to ask.” Your heart race increased, what if it was something bad? “Well, what is it?” “Never mind.” He sat up, sighing loudly.
“Wait, no tell me.” You sat up with him, curiosity eating you alive. “Whatever it is, you can trust me George,” your hand rested on top of his, your thumb rubbing small circles on the back of it as a sign of comfort. “It’s really dumb, let’s just enjoy the view.” You shook your head vigorously, not wanting to let this go. Whatever it was, it obviously meant a lot to George, enough where he’d sneak out with you to tell you instead of just saying it in a hallway. “You don’t have to, but it might make you feel better if you tell me.” “I just,” he started, but took a moment to finish his sentence. “I really like this person,” his sentence stung, like a bee. He had feelings for someone else. Of course he did, how could he ever like someone like you? You were just his little brothers dumb friends, nothing more. “Like really like them, and I honestly have no idea how to tell them. I guess, I’m asking for your help. Do you think you could help me y/n?” Even though your heart was sunken to the bottom of your stomach, you nodded yes.
“What’re they like? It’ll help me get a mental picture.” “Well, they’re the most gorgeous person I’ve ever met,” he started. “I’ve known them for quite a long time, an eternity almost. Well, more like 5 years,” he chuckled. It was strange that he had described the amount of time he knew this person the same way you two had always described when you two met was strange. But no, he couldn’t be talking about you, could he? “They’re hilarious, actually one of the funniest people I’ve met. They also aren’t afraid of sneaking around, and are my favorite y/h/n, well actually, my favorite person in general. Oh, and not to mention how they love stargazing with me.”
The dots finally connected in your head. There was a reason he never said you were the most intelligent person he knew. George actually liked you back, shockingly enough. You bit your lower lip, looking down at your hands, then up at him. “I think the way you just did it was beautiful, whoever that was about would just have to say they like you too.” Both of you let out small laughs. He moved his hand away from yours and cupped your cheek with it. The moon bounced down on you, showing off how lovely you looked. “May I kiss you now, you know, since you admitted to liking me too?” You playfully rolled your eyes at his sudden cockiness, then nodded. His lips crashed onto yours.
Fireworks. That was the best way to describe it. Your hands played with his hair, tugging it a bit as one of his hands stayed glued to your face, the other on your hip. It was like your lips were made for one another’s, slipping perfectly, like two matching puzzle pieces. You never wanted to pull away, kissing him was actually heaven.
But of course, you were interrupted by the sound of Filch screaming. “There’s two students kissing over here!” You both pulled away and looked over, then bouncing to your feet. You grabbed both of your brooms while he quickly folded up the blanket. He yanked his broom out of your hands, and you both flew up to the sky before Filch could grab you two. Down below, you could see him rushing over to where you had been, his cat behind him, looking around confused. A snort came from you, and George laughed obnoxiously at both you and the sight below. “You snort? I never knew that.”
“Shut it Weasley,” he covered his mouth to stop his laughter. “Oh, you’re never living this down.” “Never, really? That’s a long while,” you and George both took off on your brooms, flying down to the window you had came in through so that you could enter back in the castle without getting caught. “Yes y/n, never ever.”
5 of ?
The months flew by, it only felt like yesterday when you told the news and now you’re currently in the ninth month. Any day now, the baby would be due. But you haven’t felt the signs yet.
The feeling of not holding a lightsaber and seeing action for a while was perhaps the biggest adjustment you’ve ever made; recalling the years where you’ve kept yourself low from the Imperials’ radar and having to limit the times you held your saber, this was far different than that.
To pass the time, you and Cal often strolled together just to keep yourself active. The Mantis continued its travels from time to time, but it would always find itself home in Cerinda and would occasionally return to Bogano for old time’s sake. The two of you stopped by the stream that branched out of the lake, something about that part of the forest became like a magnet to the both of you. Even in your expectant state, you were still the same sprightly girl who would dip her toes into the cold water at any given chance.
“I’ve been thinking,” you began. Beaming brightly and excitedly as you spoke, “I want to have our baby in this one planet that my master and I used to go to for a campaign.”
“Oh?” Cal propped his cheek against his fist, dreamily gazing at you while you pluck flowers by the shoreline and set them floating into the gentle current.
“The planet, Ilaro,” you craned your head to him. “It’s a neutral planet by the Outer Rim, but it’s very peaceful there. No Imperials, no fighting,”
He heard you sigh as you daydream about the planet in your mind. He kept smiling as he listened.
“If only you’ve seen it, Cal—oceans clear and bright blue like the sky that they almost conjoin, the city that Master and I went to was so extravagant yet quaint, much like Reema here but a bit bigger,” you trail off, and then smiled as the last, finishing thought entered your mind and turned to your husband. “And oh, I know the perfect place for us: by the hillside north of the city. There’s another town there, it’s small but I think it’ll do for us,”
He hummed in reply, enamored by your idea but mostly at your radiance. You couldn’t stay mad at him for only half-listening. You’re endeared by his droopy, dreamy eyes and the smile that still stood out even through his stubble that he personally kept to a certain thinness of his liking.
“What is it?” you giggled.
“You’re just so beautiful,” he cooed. “I just can’t help but stare even while you talk, I’m sorry.”
You caress his scruffy jaw, he willingly inches to you as he comes in for a kiss. You secretly chuckled when his stubble tickled you and you liked it when he did.
“I can’t stay mad, darling,”
That afternoon, you tended to the plants in the terrarium, shearing the weeds and other overgrowth that crowded the soil bed. It sooner became half a flower garden and a half a medicinal herb garden, you and Merrin shared sides of the terrarium respectively; Greez was cooking up some lunch while Cere continued her favorite pastime of splicing and hacking Imperial communications, but also found out about how to trace long-range frequencies as far as two to three parsecs.
“Have you ever thought if they’re a boy or a girl, [y/n]?”
“I have, but my mind changes every now and then—one day I’ll think it’s a boy, and then the next it’s a girl,” you chuckled. “Cal and I have been debating the same thing.”
“You’re at your ninth month, anyway. I’m sure it’ll come soon,”
“Yes, soon,” you trailed off echoing the Nightsister’s words.
Later, Cal came back with game that he had hunted in the forest’s inner meadows. One of Cerinda’s fauna that you’ve found a taste for was the Chorcap—a medium-sized, horned quadrupedal animal, it was slightly shorter than a Nerf in height and less hairy too, but it was stocky in build, making it prized for their meat. Merchants in Reema would buy for the horns, butchers would get portioned cuts, and Cal would haggle with those butchers for the portions.
“I’m back,” Cal chirped as he entered the ship. “Got some extra Chorcap on the road.”
“Oh finally! I thought this stew would never be done if it weren’t for you,” Greez grunted.
“Relax, Greez, here—the seasonings you asked for,”
Cal tossed a pouch to Greez to which the captain expertly caught with his bottom right arm and continued to stir the pot. He greeted you with a kiss on the cheek as you tended the little indoor garden and seated himself by the dining table.
“That smells good!” your husband exclaimed.
“Without these spices, my stew would be as bland as unfermented Merenzane Gold!”
From time to time, you’d conceal your expressions whenever your belly contracted. You’ve pretty much anticipated the baby’s due, but it was the pain that you tried to hide—not wanting to disturb everyone at your expense.
Minutes later, Greez called everybody for lunch, you helped in setting the table and serving out the helpings for each plate. The aroma of the stew wafted around the Mantis, making all the stomachs rumble, and come running towards the table. Lunch became more animated as conversations and topics volleyed here and there. You turned to BD-1 perched over the rim of the table between the lounge.
“Say, BD, do you still have the scan of the Binog?”
“What for?”
“Oh, you’ll see, hon,” you ended it with a smile.
After lunch and helping with the dishes, you retreated to the bedroom with BD-1 perched over your shoulder. You seated yourself by the workbench, producing spools of thread, buttons, filler cotton, and fabrics of different colors—all coming from the business district in Reema. You produced a holodisk and held it close to the droid
“Can you transfer the Binog’s hologram scan here, BD?”
“Wooo!” the little droid whirred out its splicer and connected itself to the holodisk’s port. Seconds later, the hologram of the great creature of Bogano flickered above the holodisk’s projector.
“Thank you, BD,” you rewarded the droid with head pats before starting with your work.
You drew patterns for each part of the animal and then sheared them piece by piece. Holding them together with pins, you started sewing the main body first—leaving an opening for the stuffing later—and then moved on to the legs and tail. Your slender fingers gracefully twisted, curled, and threaded with the stitches as you went on—pushing the needle and then pulling the thread—until it was starting to take shape. Glancing at the projection every once in a while to check if you’re getting the likeness correctly.
“Booo!”
“That’s right, BD, I’m making the Binog—though a smaller version, for the small one,” you cooed.
When the limbs and tail have joined the body and head, the next step was to sew in the fins that lined its spine all the way to the tail and its ears. You had the patterned fabrics at the ready, you just needed to stitch them. Cal walked in to the bedroom, finding you sitting back relaxed while sewing together a toy Binog.
“That’s actually pretty cute,” he beamed.
“Thank you, but it’s not finished yet,”
The finishing touches were the button eyes. A pair of solid black buttons were secured in an X-like stitch on its head. Two tiny white triangles were sewn along the mouth for its fangs that peeked out even with the actual creature’s mouth closed. Finally, BD-1 helped you stuff the toy with the cotton since his little claws could fit the openings you left for each body part.
“Thanks for your help, BD,” you sealed the filler openings and held it in your hand. “There we go!”
“That’s adorable,” your husband commented.
Even if it was never your intention to worry everybody—your husband, especially—you just couldn’t control the instance where your knees buckle and your muscles felt like tightening with a great force. As you struggled to stand up, everybody in the ship was alarmed by your cry of pain. All of a sudden, the swirling in your stomach started to tense up.
“The baby’s coming…!” you struggled to calmly breathe.
“Cere! Merrin!” Cal cried, scooping you up from your seat at the workbench and carefully settling you down on the bed.
“Whoa, whoa, what’s happening!?” Greez was infected with the same panic and alarm as the two ladies. The captain definitely heard your cries, he just didn’t think the baby was coming now.
Your ankles jerked as your toes curled tightly, your hand gripped the sheets as you tried to fight off the contraction pains. Cal ignored the hard grip that’s crumpling his sleeve as you broke down sobbing in pain.
“I know a place!” Cere exclaimed. “Captain, set a course to Polis Massa! Grid coordinates K-20, NOW!”
“It’s two parsecs away via jump to hyperspace!” Greez argued.
“Captain, just do it!” the woman snapped back.
“You’re gonna be okay, [y/n], do you hear me?” Cal’s voice cracked while squeezing back your free hand.
“[y/n], breathe,” Merrin calmly chanted, it became her mantra to you as the minutes went on.
The jump to lightspeed felt like an eternity as you battled the excruciating pain. Your body tossed and turned, finding a position where the cramping hurt less. Your legs thrashed, your vision blackened around the edges as you struggled to breathe in a slow pace—it only lessened the cramping to an extent but you don’t know for how long you could hold it.
Cere came barging in the bedroom.
“We’re near our destination. How is she holding up?”
“She’s trying to breathe calmly, I strongly object in using my magick on her,” the Nightsister reported.
“My head is burning!”
Cal pressed the back of his hand against your forehead, “She’s having a fever! How much farther until we reach Polis Massa?”
Before Cere could reply, the feedback of Greez’s microphone crackled through the speakers.
“Hold on, folks! It’s gonna be a bumpy ride!” the Lateron announced.
Cere sprang back to the cockpit, swerving and catching her balance as the ship rumbled. The turbulence didn’t help much, but you kept holding onto Cal’s hand.
“Cere, you didn’t tell me that we’re running into an asteroid field!”
“Because Polis Massa is on the asteroid field!”
“And this is a medical station we’re talking about!”
Greez steered closer to the largest asteroid until he found a cluster of silver infrastructures sticking out on the largest rock in the field. Cere had no further qualms about that, she turned and tapped the buttons and knobs on her communication station in the ship to send the urgent transmission.
“This is Jedi Cere Junda, we are in need of urgent medical assistance! A crew member has gone into labor and is about to give birth, please!”
“Transmission verified, you are allowed to dock. We’ll have a ward and medical droids ready for her,”
The medical droids stationed there were on full alert, a couple of the wardens came out of the building with a gurney prepared for you as they anticipated your arrival. The ship maneuvered and hovered carefully by the landing pad.
“We’re here,” Cal whispered to you, hoping to console you.
“Where are we?” you murmured.
“Polis Massa,” he scooped you up from the bed, carried you all the way out of the Mantis and then laying you down on the gurney waiting for you.
The female wardens briskly pushed your gurney towards the medical bay and then to the available ward that was ready for you. The human nurses cooed and whispered to you in comforting, melodic voices; coaxing you and telling you everything down to the littlest detail.
“We’re going to carry you to the next bed, alright?”
“Okay…” you replied, your eyes were too heavy to direct your vision to whichever nurse was speaking to you.
The nurses traded diagnoses with one another and then relayed them to the medical droids, reflecting your vital signs onto their computers and holographs.
“Vitals are fine, no remarkable findings,”
“Blood pressure is stable,”
The nurses helped you lift up your knees as a midwife droid hovered slowly towards you. The entire crew watched through the glass wall of your room, they all leaned against the opposite wall but it was your husband who eagerly stayed behind the glass.
“Is she going to be alright?” he asked the one nurse who exited your room.
“Yes, it’s good that you’ve brought her here on such short notice,”
“We were only two parsecs away from here,” Cere added.
The nurse had allowed Cal to enter the ward—for only one non-patient was permitted to accompany the patient—he sat by your side, close to your head. He stroked your hair as you take deep breaths before pushing.
Cal watched the red fill your cheeks as you tried to push, following the pace of the midwife droid that’s coaxing you. He ignored your screeching cries, he wiped away the tears that rolled away from your eyes as you breathed through clenched teeth, preparing for the next.
An infant cry filled the room, Cal’s head instantly turned to the end of the bed where the midwife droid held your newborn—he watched the droid clean the infant on the spot and swaddle it in a soft, white sheet. He stood up and held the tiniest human being he’s ever seen in his entire life. A tinge of orange strands adorned the little one’s head.
“It’s a girl,” he gasped.
He approached you with your daughter in his arms, he held her close to you so you may look at her crumpled, crying little face.
“Cassidy,” you whispered.
Cal heard you utter the name. You traded glances and he smiled. A teardrop glimmered at the edge of his eye.
“Cassidy.” He echoed. The baby’s tiny hand hooked around his finger and he could’ve sworn he felt his heart burst out of his ribs, “My little Cassidy.”
He held his baby daughter right in front of him. Dark, round, shining eyes blinked back at him as Cassidy’s stubby arms squirmed, lightly hitting his cheeks and jaw with smooth, soft hands.
“She has your eyes,” Cal choked.
“She has your hair,” you manage a chuckle.
“You did great, darling,” he sat down, level to you and planted a kiss on your forehead while the Mantis crew watched the little family have their greatest moment yet.
Shadowhunters Fandom Story - Part Nine
Sanctuary by @sfjessii
Why I love this story:
If i have a bad day, i download this, log off and escape into this wonderful world. This is my comfort fic. I adored the way Magnus and Alec had this instant connection. Never too shy to tell the other how beautiful they are, and described so beautifully. Nala, Alec’s dog was such a vital part of this story, i really loved the way the animals were involved, especially the way Nala and Chairman Meow turned into these wonderful characters of theor own. Nala's bond with Alec was beautiful, how she reacted to his feelings, and was a support for him. This story has little bit of everything, fluff, pining, loving, makes your heart burst with love. We had Magnus' family welcoming Alec, then Alec's also welcoming Magnus! Domestic moments, mornings together at the loft, cuddling, making risotto - What’s not to love.
Favourite lines:
[“You buy pumpkins, all kinds, from me, though you’re allergic, you run after me in slippers, you are... really special.” He grins so wonderfully, Magnus can’t but smile, his cheeks suddenly heating up.]
[Magnus adores the way Alec kisses him after a long day. As if he had missed him every minute he was gone, as if he can only wholly breathe, and be at ease, once he’s with him again, as if Magnus is the reason for his happiness, his sanctuary].
[“It’s not to prove our love, or anything like that. You’re right, we don’t need that, and this won’t change anything, except that this is a once in lifetime experience - well, for us anyway - and I want to have that with you, because you’re the one, the only one, and I... really want to see that glorious wedding you planned, and you outshining everyone in your wedding tux when you bawl your eyes out," he smiles, close to tears, and takes a shuddery breath. "But most of all I want to call you my husband].
In the Sin Bin by @otppurefuckingmagic
Why I love this story:
This fic was my introduction to hockey, i knew absolutely nothing about the sport before this and you really don’t need to, because it’s  so well explained in the story. I love the torture of the slow burn before Malec’s first kiss, it was so intense as there was so much anticipation and neither wanted to cross a line but also really knowing that it would eventually happen. Some of the lines in here are absolutely beautiful, and also painfully beautiful like their break-up because the break-up was because the loved the other so much they were trying to protect them which made it even harder and makes it so easy to get lost in this work. There are so many character developments here too but they happen over a period of time and not rushed which i liked and made it feel real and natural. And our protangonists work things out but there are many twist and turns along the way, and a beautiful friendship between Magnus and Max.
Favourite lines:
[“This is crossing another line, Magnus"
"I don't even know what a line is"]
[You know,” Max called out as he approached Magnus, “it’s a pretty well established superstition that if you sit on the Raziel statue that you’re doomed to an eternity of forced abstinence.”
Magnus practically flew off the base of the statue in front of the Angels’ arena at Max’s words].
[Because there’s someone I’m involved with and I can’t deny his importance in my life—no matter what the consequences are. The blackmail, my parents.... I can let all of that shit go on the ice if he’s at my side. He and hockey are the most important things to me right now. I’m fighting for my pride as a gay man and an Angel, Coach. It’s not an either-or scenario for me—it’s both.”]
Power Play by @bbmonarch
Why I love this story:
I had originally seen Art for this story on twitter and i was so intrigued that i had to read the story. The content in this story is heavy and at times quite dark and normally content i hide away from but this one i just couldnt stay away, it’s just so well written with complex yet well-rounded characters &  i when i started reading it, i couldn’t put it down, there are two parts to this and i read it all as one and have a sob-fest. But amongst all the darkness there is enough happy/fluffy moments to keep a balance to the story and the deep love that Magnus and Alec have in this universe is one of the strongest i have seen in any other story, part of what drew me to it and why i love it so much. Another thing i liked  is the friendship between Jace and Magnus and that is something i always love in a story, like when Jace was there to look after Magnus, making sure he got back back safe and took care of Magnus so he was there and well when Alec woke up in a certain scene. We get loads of fluffy moments and cute when it was just them, the normally fearsome Alec a blushing mess when Magnus calls him everything from, pup, puppy, munchkin etc. Lastly i loved the way they cared/looked after each other when they were hurt/sick and magnus looking after Alec when he went off the rails and helping him through his addiction was amazingly sweet, even when they had broken up at the time summed them up to me.
Favourite lines:
[Magnus smiled and looked down to where Alec was ripping the label into small pieces “Sexually frustrated?”  Alec snapped out of his thoughts and stiffened in his seat, Magnus laughed softly “It’s what they say you are if you play with the labels on your bottles”. “I don’t.. I didn’t know” Alec said and pushed the bottle away. “You didn’t know that what it meant or you don’t know if you are sexually frustrated?”]
 [“I love your eyes” He let out before he had a chance to think about what he was actually saying. “Thank you”. Alec could see in his eyes that he was smiling, not needing to take his focus away from them. “Do you wear contact lenses or something?” he asked and tipped his head slightly to the side, shivering a little as Magnus hand moved around to the back of his neck and his fingers played with the shorter hairs, like he was trying to twirl it around his fingertips. “No” Magnus was still smiling “I am just a little special”]
[‘Magnus’s eyes were filled with love as he cupped his face, leaned down over him and kissing away his tears. Closing his eyes, Alec felt Magnus’ lips against his eyelids so softly it was barely a kiss. Alec moved his hands to rest against Magnus’ knees, feel his own heartbeat echo off Magnus’ palms as Magnus pressed his hands against his chest.”]
[Alec reached for his hand and brought it up to his face and gently places a kiss against the back of it. “I love you just the same. There may be a little bit less of you but that just means the left-over love I have is spread out equally amongst the rest of you” he said, sounding adorably cheesy.
“I can’t with you” Magnus laughed, feeling better about himself than he had in a long time, maybe even before everything with Jonathan happened. “I love you so much, puppy”. Seeing Alec’s eyes light up at the nickname, Magnus regretted not using it more frequently].
 Love Is Not a Victory March by j__writes and @lecrit
Why I love this story:
Tried hard to choose my fave stories for this TOP 5 Favourite's and these two writer have some amazing ones and were so difficult to choose from. I planned to have 'Bright Light's Small Town' and 'Take Me To Church' but this collab had such a huge effect that i couldn’t possibly leave it out. Honestly, one of the most beautiful, deep, meaningful stories I ever read about Alec and Magnus because the raw content and these two writers are hard-hitters when it comes to writing angst. Watching these characters pour their hearts out, falling apart, nearly breaking up and divorcing and then realizing their love was stronger than any of it and starting from scratch, building themselves up again, such an amazing thing to see and also is so very real-life. So many things (and people) had got in their way but they finally managed to communicate and begin again. Watching them fall in love all over again was such a pleasure and so beautifully written.
Favourite lines:
[He wonders how he could have ever forgotten how it felt to fall in love with the wonder and light that is Magnus Bane. He can’t believe he ever let Magnus spend so many days in sadness. That he was the cause of that sadness. There’s so much he needs to make right]
[“There is the rawness of an open wound in their cries, their embrace certainly the only thing keeping them from completely falling apart. The distance between has been washed away,”]
[There is nothing left but the blunt honesty on his features, the same that always leads one of Alec’s earth-shattering declarations. He never seems to realize how the words he utters so candidly can throw Magnus’ whole world off balance while at the same time grounding him to the reality of Alec’s love for him. It is, quite possibly, Magnus’ favorite feeling. “Every time I think I can’t possibly love you more you just–” he shakes his head with a sense of fatality that he seems to welcome gratefully, “– God, I love you so much.”]
 [‘Carefully, he disentangles her fingers from the chain, pressing a quick kiss against her tiny hands. When he is done, he slips the necklaces off his neck and tucks them away in the top drawer, smiling down at her.]
[Three years ago, Magnus had a grim, morose thought that perhaps it had been the universe’s way of telling him that this isn’t what he should have, that this life he had dreamed of was but a dream, meant to remain unreachable like the stars. He has to believe now, no matter how foolish, that there is a star out there, far away from his reach perhaps but forever embedded in his heart, that is looking over him, over them. He hopes she can feel it, the love he had for her, and he hopes she will forgive him, for failing to protect her.]
Set Me in Motion by lemonoclefox
Why I love this story:
Such a wonderful story. It’s different from the others i have listed as in this story, we start off with Alec having a boyfriend before anything happened between him and Magnus but its made very clear that this relationship is at times very one-sided and that this Raj is not the right person for Alec and he didn’t seem to have any interest in Alec’s life outside their relationship and hadn’t even met his family.  The relationship with Alec and Magnus was so natural, realistic and mature, it was obvious from the start they had chemistry but with Alec in a relationship, nothing was ever going to happen between them and they had this lovely charming friendship. And which moved forward after the break-up primarily thorough Alec looking after Magnus and making sure he was eating when he was working too hard, how sweet is that? The communication between the two is something i really love about this too and you always get the impression they’re both on the same page. There’s wonderful fun and humour between the two and even on the business side, in their jobs , they are each other’s biggest supporter, lastly the story has another thing i love in fic, a friendship between Magnus and Jace.
Favourite lines:
[‘You don't have to sit here and wait for him," he remembers Magnus saying, that first night theytalked. "And if that's what he expects, he's probably not worth it, they never are."]
[“In more ways than one. Even when other stuff was a mess, being with you always just..."He tries to find the words, shakes his head, and Magnus finds the words for him "Made sense," he suggests gently. He turns his head, and he and Alec just gaze at each other for a few moments, the two of them suspended in time].
[I like you," Jace proclaims loudly, throwing his arm over Magnus's shoulders as they end up sitting next to each other in the far back, once the car starts moving. Magnus is squeezed in between him and Alec, and Alec is just gazing happily at his brother and his boyfriend, a drunk smile on his face. "I mean, you're a bit―" Jace gestures exaggeratedly with his hand. "But it's all good. You're alright”]
“You know, we’re not really all that different.” The demon grinned, a glint in her eye, as the angel’s wings flapped in irritation.
“I’m not one of those little humans. Why don’t you go bother them instead.”
“No look, hear me out. I mean we were both created for the same purpose right? To serve. My allegiance just happens to be my lord and master, Lucifer, and yours is to that great shining Father, the Creator of the Universe. It’s like, two sides of the same coin and all that.”
“Whatever you’re trying to tempt me to do, it won’t work.” The angel crossed his arms.
“Nah, I’m just bored. We’re stuck here for all eternity watching these little creatures.” She gestured to the figures down the cliff. They were slowly examining a spot which had recently been struck by lightning. The bravest of the bunch held a long tree branch. Gingerly, it poked at the orange light emanating from the ground. It nearly dropped the branch in shock as flames glowed from one end. Oh good, they’d finally discovered fire. “Might as well get to know each other.” She shrugged.
“I’m Felicity.” The angel refused to rise to her bait. “Ah, I see you’re the stoic silent type. Hmmm… Manakel?”
The angel lifted a brow,” Seriously?”
Felicity shrugged. “Don’t you guys all have names that end in -el or something? Hmm… the little creatures did just discover fire so… Nathaniel?”
The angel’s wings twitched once more. He stared at the demon, then shrugged. “Only the higher archangels have those kind of names. I’m just… a lesser angel.”
“So your name is…?”
Now it was the angel’s turn to shrug. “Why don’t you try guessing.”
“Whaaaaat? There’s thousands of names, Thomas.”
“It’s like you said. We’ve got an eternity here. Good luck.” With a powerful flap of his wings, the angel disappeared. It was time to nudge the little creatures a smidge into the right direction before they burned down a whole forest.
11,980 BCE
“Fancy meeting you here, Bartholomew.” Felicity grinned.
The angel looked up from the creature petting a large wolf.
“Demon.”
Tumblr media
“Come on, Jonathan. You know my name.”
“What are you doing here, Felicity?”
“Same as you, of course.” She gestured at the human as it tossed a piece of raw meat to its wolf. “Look at how these little things have grown. Taming other creatures and all.”
“Your side’s work, no doubt.”
The demon frowned, then shrugged. “I don’t know, they don’t really tell me anything. Besides, freedom to bend the rules and all that. And now they have the knowledge of how to command other creatures.”
“Yes, and there goes equality among all species.”
Felicity tapped a finger to her chin. “Isn’t this all part of some… I don’t know, ineffable plan or something. There must be something special about these human creatures for us to be sent to watch over them. Maybe, it was your side’s work.”
The angel frowned, then shrugged. “They don’t really tell me anything either.”
Grinning, the demon stretched her wings. “Well, see you around, Thea. There’s still plenty of time in the day for more mischief.”
She had never seen the angel’s ears turn so red. He spluttered.
“What? What is it?” Her eyes twinkled. “Did I guess correctly?”
“No! That name is… feminine! I’m a male!”
Felicity tilted her head to the left as she examined the angel from head to toe. “Really? It’s kind of hard to tell with you angels, under all those robes.”
Refusing to reply, he simply flew off.
“Bye, Malcolm.”
776 BCE
“Fancy meeting you here.” Felicity grinned.
“I was wondering when you’d show up again.” The angel acknowledged her appearance with a nod.
Tumblr media
They turned to the human that had summoned them. Currently having an internal debate on whether to steal something or go another day hungry, it grimaced.
“Been a lot easier since this little things started developing morality. Now we can just show up whenever they need a little nudging in the right direction.”
The angel merely grunted in reply.
“Nice beard by the way.” Felicity gestured at his stubble. “You definitely look like an Adrian now.”
He rolled his eyes. “Not even close.”
The human seemed to have made its decision. Another little win for the demons. Felicity pumped her fist in excitement. The angel merely sighed.
“That’s my cue to leave. See you around, Robert.”
“Bye, Felicity.” With a wink, the demon disappeared. He stared a moment at where she’d been. Then, shaking his head, he went off to the next assignment.
1400s
“There you are.” Felicity smiled at the familiar brooding face. “Where have you been? Your other siblings aren’t as fun, you know?”
He lifted a brow, “Missed me, have you?”
“What do you think, Anthony?”
He didn’t reply, just turned back to the painting they were all admiring.
Tumblr media
“Is that what it looks like?”
“What, Hell?” At his nod, Felicity frowned and examined the fiery canvas.
“I don’t really go down that often but… kind of, I guess. Amazing what these little things can come up with. Is this the work of you guys or us, do you think?”
“You think demons had a hand in such beauty?” He gestured at the next few paintings.
She shrugged,” They don’t all look like that. I’ve seen… others.”
“Is that what Heaven looks like?” She pointed at the next canvas.
He tilted his head, examining it. “It’s a crude interpretation but, kind of.”
Their human finally made its decision. Its rival was going to be safe after all. Satisfied, the angel smirked. “See you around then, Felicity.”
“Don’t stay away too long this time, Edward.”
1596
“Do you believe in all that?”
The angel raised a brow at the question. “What? Love?”
“Yea. They seem to do a lot of silly things for it.” She gestured at the stage as the play was coming to an end. Two young lovers embraced each other in death. The crowd applauded.
He frowned. “We’re not made the same. Us immortals don’t experience such things.”
“Don’t we?” The look she gave him was inscrutable. It was unnerving, seeing her face without it’s usual cheeky grin.
He cleared his throat. “You said once that we were made for loyalty, to serve the greater good, or bad. That’s all we’re here to do. To guide these creatures to whatever end the Father has in store for them. For all of us.”
Tumblr media
“Is that really what you believe? Is that really all we are?” She placed a hand over his. “Can’t we be more?”
He looked down at their joined hands. “I told you not to tempt me, demon.”
She opened her mouth but before anything was said, they both felt the tug of another assignment. Their current human had finally made its decision, stalking through the crowd to confront its cheating lover.
“See you around, Roy.” With a sad smile, she left.
1600
“At least you’re not running away.”
He looked sideways at her. “It’s our job to guide these humans.”
“But you knew I would be here and you accepted this one anyway.”
He fixed her with an inscrutable look.
Another tug. This human was barely hesitating. It took up a baseball bat and walked out of its house.
The angel grimaced.
“See you around.” Before she could fly off, the angel grabbed one of her hands.
“No more name guessing this time?”
“You aren’t tired of it by now?” He lifted a brow. “William?” He shook his head.
He lifted her hand to his mouth and pressed a gentle kiss. “See you around, Felicity.”
Tumblr media
1687
“Felicity.” She fidgeted with the hem of her dress as he stood by the other side of their human.
“Clayton”
“No. But it’s good to see you too.”
They stood in silence, but for the suggestions they whispered in the human’s ear. This one was taking a long time. Occasionally, they glanced at each other before looking away again.
Decision made, the human finally sat back down in bed.
“Well, goodbye then.” As she continued standing in silence, the angel shook his head sadly and turned to leave.
“Wait.” As he turned back, she flew right up to his face, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek.
Tumblr media
A moment passed.
Felicity looked up to the sky then turned back to the angel. She grinned. “Well, I don’t hear any thunder or anything so maybe we’re in the clear.”
Stretching her wings, she waved at the silent angel before taking off. “Bye, Jonas.”
He merely stared at where she had stood, one hand over his cheek.
1735
“So… we’re just gonna stand here in silence? Or…?” She hovered upside down in front of him.
Tumblr media
Another tug.
Felicity closed her eyes and sighed.
“Well, till the next ti-“ She was cut off by the sensation of cool hands cupping her face. A light pressure of lips on hers.
Tumblr media
She opened her eyes.  He smiled. Perhaps it was cliche to call it angelic, but wow.
“See you around, Felicity.”
“Bye, L-“
“It’s Oliver.” With one last bow, he left.
Nulogorsk.fm - 01: Pilot
[[Author's note: I'm not so great in translating into English. So dear native English-speaking readers, I'll be really very glad if you leave a comment if something’s wrong! Thank you.]]
A friendly northern town where nights are white, days are dark, sea is cold like the hearts of the ancient gods, and arctic lights in their beauty can compete with a mysterious shining, which we are all scared to even glance at.
You're listening to Nulogorsk.fm!
First of all, an important message from the municipal government.
Nulogorsk government reminds that the military community located after the nothern highway exit from A-800 is former, closed and left under the decree of the municipal government from February, 29th, 1993. Noone lives at the territory of the military community. Noone works there. There is no living or nonliving soul. The military community is abandoned, closed and sealed for eternity - they say in the decree. The municipal government reminds you: if you see servicemen without military rank insignia, they are just a phantom of your imagination. If not only you see them, it is a phantom of your collective imagination. Do not try to talk to these servicemen. Ignore these phantoms of your imagination.
It's a significant day here today in Nulogorsk - after many years of repairs, the Palace of Culture is finally re-opened. Surely, all the important citizens will come for the opening, also a short briefing will be held, as well as a concert on the occasion of opening. Concert-bill is still elaborating.I remind you that the Palace of Culture was closed for a few years due to major repairs. The reasons were leaking roof, wall cracks and stucco moldings falling down off the walls. All the rumours about some kind of a way to some kind of an abyss opened in the vaults of the Palace, that artists and workers who stayed late after the concerts heard horrifying, ghoulish howl, which was coming like from every wall and every dark corned, that on the long, dark November days all the building winced and shaked as if because of the panoptic terror - that's all of course just idle rumours, and shame on them who pass it.
Now all the repair works are finally finished, the newest sound and video equipment is already brought, and Nulogorsk cultural life is ready to play out in fresh colours!
So, now everyone's waiting for the complimentary speech from our Mayor Pavel Borovik, who will officialy cut the symbolic ribbon after this. Our Mayor's speeches are always unforgettable! We can just recall his congratulations on last New Year, when he traditionally but in his unique manner wished success, health and luck to all of us, using frozen bull-trout, his expensive shoes in the colour of sycamore and his whole vocal range of 3-5 octaves. For sure today we will all be impressed by his words.Sadly I can't be there now at this wonderful event, but who would then tell you of everything happening in the town, dear listeners?
But I'm sure our new intern Olga would help us! She's waving, you can't see it but believe me as usual. I'll send her to the place for the most precise report, she'll sure deal great with it. See you, Olya! I'll be waiting for your messages as soon as possible!
And while Olga is going to the place, a little bit about traffic.
Due to technical difficulties, the central bus station will be closed from Thursday, 7 a.m. until Sunday, 5 p.m. All the arrivals will overpass. That's what the bus station operator says.
Somewhere far away a giant lorry rips in the highways, and a small woman is driving it. The teeth of this lorry, enormous, can grind a diamond. The lorry snorts fire, and it seems like to be all made of pipes. We don't know where it's coming from. We don't know where it's going to. I don't know what it carries. They say museums explode on the way of this lorry.
A giant lorry rips in the highways far away. How far is it from us? How close? Where does it go?
The bus station operator notices that the station closing isn't connected with this message.
This was the traffic.
To other news.
This morning a group of servicemen with military rank insignia arrived to Nulogorsk. As their leader, a beautiful woman dressed in perfectly fitting field jacket with Major's stars, says, they came because of safety issues. There were no details, despite legitimate questions from the journalists, for whom a short and quick news conference was held. But still there are many questions. What happened to safety in our little, cosy, quiet town? Why now? Why Major's hairstyle is so perfect, and her eyes are looking so strikingly right into your soul?
We didn't get answers to those questions.
Last news, on-the-spot message from Olga! Our Mayor Pavel Borovik has just finished his inspiring speech. He recalled how many events took place in our Palace of Culture, how we celebrated Town Day here, New Year, Knowledge Day, Gnosis Day, Harvest Day... Oh, I remember those wonderful New Year nights! The fun that united everyone, young and old... on such nights, teenagers for the first time tried 16-kopek plombiere ice-cream and "Kaliningrad" champagne! How strongly I wanted then to come back into my childhood and feel what they were feeling: the delight of novelty, the expectancy of unpredictable future and existentialist horror of it's imminence!
By the way about imminence.
"Blacker than darkness" coffee and bake shop invites the people and visitors of the town to try something new, double cake with orange jam and candied peel! Wonderful for to go and to get out, ideal with coffee. If you order the cake and any coffee except espresso, you get vague anxiety until next morning for free! For strict vegans: coffee on soy milk, carrot cake and a feeling of grievous loss. Offer doesn't include orders to go.
Let's get back to the main topic of the day. Just now, our esteemed Mayor Pavel Borovik has officialy cut the lily-white ribbon into thousand of smallest pieces which flew away with the wind just like our young hopes and dreams. Local amateur orchestra played a solemn melody, and doors of the Palace of Culture were opened for the first visitors chaired by Palace manager, Mayor and a representative of the press service of the municipal government. As Olga says, everyone just passed the red carpet covering the entrance stairs and came into the spacious lobby decorated with flowers and flecks from the gorgeous crystal chandelier. The orchestra refused to come in, saying it can make them go out of tune, but as Olga says, their eyes were suspiciously shifty. I wonder, what's this all about? Sadly, I don't have music education, so I even can't suggest!
In the same way, I can't suggest why our humble radio station is interesting for the servicemen with military rank insignia, but I can assure that I was really glad to see Major Andreeva with her perfect hairstyle, expressive eyes and even more expressive body language within our walls. I asked if I could help somehow or buy her a cup of coffee with orange double cake this evening, but seems like Major didn't pay due attention to my words. I think their packed and tight schedule doesn't let them such freedom as coffee. Though, orange double pie...
Anyway, Major Andreeva and her crew were interested in our humble sound equipment and my desk, and also in our regular technician Alexander, which, at the sight of visitors, made a loud hiss, blended into surroundings and quickly left the studio by draining into the sewer system.
And now, the weather.
[Frank Pourcel "Manchester et Liverpool" playing in the background]
It was a tiny cupboard of a room about six paces in length. It had a poverty-stricken appearance with its dusty yellow paper peeling off the walls, and it was so low-pitched that a man of more than average height was ill at ease in it and felt every moment that he would knock his head against the ceiling.The furniture was in keeping with the room: there were three old chairs, rather rickety; a painted table in the corner on which lay a few manuscripts and books; the dust that lay thick upon them showed that they had been long untouched. A big clumsy sofa occupied almost the whole of one wall and half the floor space of the room; it was once covered with chintz, but was now in rags and served Raskolnikov as a bed. Often he went to sleep on it, as he was, without undressing, without sheets, wrapped in his old student's overcoat, with his head on one little pillow, under which he heaped up all the linen he had, clean and dirty, by way of a bolster. A little table stood in front of the sofa.It would have been difficult to sink to a lower ebb of disorder, but to Raskolnikov in his present state of mind this was positively agreeable. He had got completely away from everyone, like a tortoise in its shell, and even the sight of a servant girl who had to wait upon him and looked sometimes into his room made him writhe with nervous irritation. He was in the condition that overtakes some monomaniacs entirely concentrated upon one thing.
A message for car owners. Petrol station number two informs that since tomorrow it will be impossible to pay with deadheads, body parts, saplings and karma. Use cash and credit cards, loyalty points and your immortal soul.
Olga who's on scene tells me that the first visitors of renewed Palace of Culture just walked into the main music hall. She says that the very first step into the large wooden doors made her heart tremble with inexplicable fear of the abyss of the existence. Mayor Pavel Borovik is determined as always.Seems like not everything is ready for the festive program in the music hall. The orchestra pit is empty and has the form of the sinkhole into the primeval abyss. Splendid velvet curtain isn't as determined as the Mayor and in every way blocks artists' attempts to sneak onto the stage and thereby save themselves from something which makes ghoulish... one moment, looks like Olga gives some details... Yes, thanks, Olya. Save themselves from something which makes spine-tingling, paralysing, dreadful howl. We'll make a pause for a message from our sponsor while I'm clarifying the situation with my colleague, stay tuned.
Everything for home and garden in the "Bad Seed" shop! New arrivals of strings, ropes, strands, cables, and also chains made of women's beard and noise of cats' steps! Never out of stock: seeds, sprouts, fertilizers, everything most needed for your homesteading or window greenhouse. In the housewares - new bed-linen arrivals. By popular demand, we returned duvet covers with chase nightmares effect, pillow cases with the paranoid thoughts aroma and sheets spawning invisible worms. Double discount with your loyalty card after sunset on Saturdays, come for shopping to "Bad Seed"!
An important message from the municipal government.Right now the press service of the municipal government informed about Mayor's decree regarding the Nulogorsk Palace of Culture. Due to the decree, Palace of Culture is closed for indefinite term until all the small defects caused by face-lift will be eliminated. Citizens are asked not to come to the building closer than 20 meters, and to cover minors' eyes while passing by the Palace.
The press service pointed out that it isn't connected with an echo of inhuman howl coming from the nailed up windows of the Palace, ghoulish and spine-tingling. With regard to all these cases of revealed breaches, an examination will be held by an independent commission consisting of active concerned citizens, mediums, shaman and Father Evgeny of the Holy Virgin Protection church.
All the planned events are moved to Youth Activity Center and local drama theatre.
Small announcement.
Internship opportunity is opened at the Nulogorsk town radiostation! It's a chance to get invaluable experience, try yourself as a real reporter, and for sure, make a great contribution into the town's public life! We're waiting for your calls, just dial ten zeros on any telephone set or whisper into your mobile phone that you want to become our intern, and we'll immediately contact you! Good luck!
That's the end of our programme for today, but not of this day. A clear, moonlit evening is waiting for the town, and a clear, disturbing night. Don't forget to check if you still have some salt on your cill and if you turned off your kettle. And now, I say goodbye to you.
Until we meet again, Nulogorsk, until we meet again.
Proverb of the day: You are what you eat. You have to revise your vegeterianism ideas if you want to be a human.
I am obsessed with your writing and drop everything when you release new content! ✨✨✨ If you don't mind, I want more Royai angst in my life. I don't think I have seen you do this. One where Riza is tired of waiting for Roy and decides to marry/seriously date someone else. Basically how Roy deals with this. Can be whatever you want, obviously. ☺️
oh my goodness skjhgjk bless u <3 ily so much thank you!! <3
“What?” Roy asked, disbelief colouring his tone. Dread andfear rushed through his body, but he was too much shock to let it show on hisface.
“I’ve got a boyfriend,” she smiled. He knew she was tryingto hide just how happy she was, Roy could see it all over her face. He’d knownher for long enough to be able to tell. Plus, the excitement was clear in hertone.
Catalina looked asshocked as he felt but recovered quickly. She congratulated her friend happily,and the others joined her. Roy had yet to move from his frozen position in thechair and he knew Riza had noticed. He remained in place, still, sayingnothing, and just staring at his old friend.
A whirlwind of emotions flew through is mind. Not one stoodout, leaving him feeling numb and shocked. All he knew was Riza Hawkeye was datingsomeone.
And it wasn’t him.
A sharp elbow to his side jolted him back to the present.Havoc shot him a pointed look.
“That’s great, Riza,” he offered with a smile. They all knewit wasn’t genuine, but Riza didn’t seem to notice. She was too lost in herhappiness to notice him now.
And rightly so, she should be happy. God knows she’d had atough childhood. Her life hadn’t exactly been a forgiving one, yet she hadpersevered and pulled through stronger than ever.
Roy had always planned that her happiness in her later yearswould be because of him. Throughout their lives he had only brought her sorrowand pain. He truly didn’t deserve her, however, there was always a sliver ofhope residing within him that something may happen.
Now it had crumbled to dust.
“Riza, I had no idea. When… When did this happen?” Catalinademanded, looking slightly hurt.
They all had noidea. Least of all, Roy.
But why would he know? She was just his subordinate, nothingmore.
No matter how much he’d hoped that would change.
He’d loved her for years and yet he hadn’t been able tofigure this out, pick up the signs?
She still never left the office early, always waiting forhim to finish his paperwork. He’d been a notorious procrastinator in hisyounger years but now, as a General, he’d buckled down and motivated himself topush forward. After all, the sooner he hit Fuhrer, the sooner he could admit toRiza how he’d felt for years.
She’d put up with his crap for too long. He was too slow.That’s how this happened.
“A couple of months ago,” she admitted.
“Months?”
Months.
Riza nodded. “Yes. We’ve been seeing each other for a fewmonths. We were in the academy together and have kept in touch ever since. Imet him in the hospital again while returning for check-ups last year. He askedme out of a coffee to catch up, we got to talking and now… Here we are,” shebeamed.
She’d been returning for check-ups on her neck? Waseverything okay?
And… Had he been reading the signs wrong for all theseyears?
It was too late to ask her now.
“What’s his name?” Catalina demanded. She was leaningforward in her chair, desperate to drink in as many details as possible. Shewas in the academy with Riza, so was Havoc – who Roy also noted was suddenlyvery interested in who this mystery man was – so of course they would want toknow who it was.
“Do you remember Eric Larsson?”
“The tall, blonde, hunk we used to obsess over,” Catalinapractically slavered. “Oh, Riza, you lucky thing!”
“Hey,” Havoc protested with a frown.
“Sorry, honey, but this guy was something else.”
“I know. I was there,in case you had forgotten.”
“Eric Larsson,” Catalina repeated, her tone taking on adreamy quality as she stared into space with a happy smile. Havoc just grumbledto himself. “You finally landed him, huh? Well, luck you!”
Breda shot a quick look at Roy, who pretended not to notice.It was no secret with the men how he felt about Hawkeye. Not now anyway. He’dbeen told it was blatantly obvious how he felt about Riza, but clearly itwasn’t obvious enough.
*          *          *
“Sir, I’m going out to the deli on 5th Street forlunch. Would you like anything brought in?” Hawkeye asked, poking her headthrough the door to his office.
“No, thank you, Captain.”
“Okay. Enjoy your lunch, sir.” The closed behind her and Roydropped his pen, brooding. Riza had only just recently begun to leave HQ forlunch by herself, and Roy supposed now he knew why. All these little things,these little changes he’d noticed, were all beginning to add up.
Deciding not to dwell on it too much, lest his mood go intodecline once more, Roy turned in his chair, overlooking the courtyard. He wassulking already, and everyone knew it.
Riza was well within her right to date and marry whoever shewanted. She owed Roy absolutely nothing. Even if she thought she did, he woulddismiss it. He’d brought her too much sorrow in her life.
But it didn’t mean he had to like the fact that she was withsomeone else.
Movement caught his eye and he looked, seeing Riza hurryingout from the entrance to HQ. A man with sandy blonde hair was waiting for her,grinning. He extended his arm, offering Riza his hand. She took it and kissedhim before they both fell into step together. Roy felt his chest tighten, hisstomach ball up uncomfortably.
He turned back around in his chair. The movement was moreviolent than intended. Storming of the empty office he left to go the mess hallto join the rest of his team.
He didn’t need another lunch break sitting alone in hisoffice.
*          *          *
He kissed her.
It was the dumbest idea. It was the stupidest idea. She was dating someoneelse and he had the bright idea tokiss her.
He always had been a dumbass.
But, for the briefest moment, she melted against him. Shesighed softly – almost moaning in his mouth – her lips moving against his, andfor one moment in his life, Roy was happy. Trulyhappy.
They were out at Christmas’ new bar, enjoying the grandopening. It was Friday and Roy needed the night to drown his sorrows after theweek he’d had. Riza had left rather quickly and he – in his infinite wisdom –followed her to the stock room through the back. It was dark, her voice wasquiet, and she sounded upset, but he didn’t know what about.
So, he seized the opportunity and –
He kissed her.
Riza shoved him off her.
“What are youdoing?” she growled angrily, fire blazing in her eyes.
“I –”
“You had your chance,” There was a hint of wetness in hereyes. “You had it and you blew it,” she seethed. “Don’t come running to me now only because you can’t havesomething you want.”
“Riza, I’m sorry –”
“No, you’re not,” she shook her head, hugging her arms closeto her as her fire died down, put out by the water falling from her eyes. “Youcouldn’t possibly be. If you were, you would have asked me years ago. But youdidn’t. I’m tired, Roy.” She met his gaze and her tears begun to fall. “I’mtired of waiting for you.”
He wanted to reach out and hug her, comfort her, but thatwasn’t his job anymore. She had someone else to do it, and Riza wouldn’t wantRoy to do it either. He was the reason she needed comforting in the firstplace.
“Please, just –”
She shook her head. “No.”
Riza turned on her heel and left the stock room, leaving Royin the dim light to think about how he’d made the biggest mistake of his life.
He was unsure of how much time had passed. It stretched onfor eternity before him, his future laid out before his eyes.
Cold, empty, and without Riza by his side.
“Mustang?” he heard Havoc call into the room. “You still inhere?” He sounded pissed.
“Over here,” he replied, voice thick.
“What the hell are you doing, man?” he asked. He was pissed. “We saw Riza leave in ahurry. What did you do?”
“I…”
“Roy.”
“I kissed her,” he whispered sadly.
Havoc blinked in surprise. “You what?”
“I kissed her.”
“Why?”
“I… I have no idea.” He was an idiot, that’s why.
“You don’t get to toy with her like that, Mustang,” Havocgrowled. “She’s been waiting for years for your sorry ass and when you can’thave her, you go and do something like that? Think how that must make herfeel!”
“Like shit?” he asked, his on eyes flashing at Havoc. Heknew exactly how it felt because he felt the same way too.
But the world doesn’trevolve around you, Roy boy. You know this. So, why push her to a point likethat? It’s cruel and unfair. She’s happy and you’re trying to blow it for yourown personal gain.
Bastard.
“Come on,” he barked, grabbing his upper arm. “You’re goingto apologise to her.”
“Havoc –” he began, feeling very tired.
“Shut the fuck up,” he hissed as they stepped intoChristmas’ bar. One look at the two and the Madame knew exactly what hadhappened. Nothing got passed her, especially not in her own bar. She frowned athim, pursing her lips. Oh boy, she wasn’t happy. “You’re fixing this becauseyou owe Riza that much.”
“What the hell did you do, Roy boy?” the Madame demanded assoon as they were outside in the cool night air. “Riza left here like a batoutta hell.”
“He kissed her,” Havoc replied for him, tone sour.
“You don’t get to play with her like that –”
“Can you save it?” Roy asked. “Havoc has already given methat lecture and I’ve already told myself that in my head.”
“Cut the attitude, Roy,” Christmas barked. “You will hear ita third time and you will hear it from me.That poor girl has waited for you to make a move or years. Granted, you hadlaws that prevented you both, but there was nothing against telling her. Youcould’ve done that, but you didn’t.”
“I told her!” he shouted in the quiet night. The other twostood quietly as they watched him, the outburst unexpected. “She knows how I feel.Always has. It’s never changed.”
“When?”
Roy paused, unsure of whether he should tell them or not.Havoc was unaware of his time in the Hawkeye household. It was an automaticreaction to hide that information, but this was Havoc. And, the Madameobviously already knew.
Roy told himself “fuck it”. At this point, it didn’tmatter anymore.
“When we were kids,” he admitted.
“Kids?” Havoc asked, confused.
“Teenagers. I studied under her father. I left for themilitary and left her behind – the second biggest regret of my life.”
“What’s the first?” the Madame asked carefully.
Roy took a deep breath, finally admitting how he felt.
“Not telling Riza I still feel the same way now.”
“Why didn’t you?”
“I put it off. We had time. Silly, because life has taughtme that everything can be ripped from me just like that.” He snapped hisfingers to demonstrate. “I got complacent because the threat was gone after thePromised Day.” He turned his gaze up to sky, gazing at the stars. “You knowwhat? The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes after the Promised Day washer,” he stated wistfully. “Doctor Marco asked me to look at him, but Icouldn’t. I lied and said I couldn’t see, but all I saw was Riza.” Marco hadasked him to close his eyes again while he used alkahestry to search thesockets to check the nerves were all connected. When Roy opened them again, hetold the truth. He could see again, and it was beautiful, staring at Riza whowas looking on anxiously. “I didn’t want it to be him. I wanted it to be her.”
“Roy?” A familiar voice called to him uncertainly. His eyesclosed. Damn it. He had no idea she’dbeen listening.
Roy placed his hands in his pockets, half turning away fromthe three people staring at him. The Madame with a knowing, satisfied, look onher face, Havoc looking very surprised, and Riza. She was staring at him withan odd look on her face, like she didn’t quite believe his words and wanted himto tell her it was true.
Or that it wasn’t true.
He wouldn’t. He wouldn’t hurt her again.
His back straightened and he schooled his features into amask. “Captain Hawkeye,” he greeted formally, removing himself emotionally fromthe conversation as Havoc and Christmas looked between them both. “I apologisefor my behaviour. It was inappropriate and I do, honestly, regret my actions.” Regretted not doing it sooner. Regretted how it made you feel. “Iunderstand if you no longer wish to work with me. On Monday there will be astack of transfer papers on your desk.”
“Mustang –” Havoc interrupted, realising this was not goingin the direction he anticipated.
“The last thing I want is for you to feel uncomfortable inyour place of work. You can decide what you wish to do with them. Goodnight.”
He turned and walked away, ignoring the Madame calling outhis name.
*          *          *
Never in his life had he felt so lonely.
He’d lost everything. The love of his life, his soulmate.Riza must have felt the same way at some point. She’d been “waiting for him”after all. And he’d blown it, taken too long, so she had sought out someoneelse to comfort her, love her. He wishedit could be him, but it wasn’t meant to be. He didn’t believe in fate. Fatewouldn’t have given them the life they’d had, but he and Riza obviously justweren’t meant to be together in that way.
“I’d follow you intohell if you asked me to”. Well, this was hell all right, and he was herealone. He’d caused this, it wasn’t her fault, but this was where he belonged.
Alone.
No one came after him. The Madame had called his name, butshe couldn’t leave the bar unattended. Plus, he’s been an idiot and wouldn’t besurprised his foster mother took Riza’s side on this. The Madame had alwaysliked Riza.
Havoc had known Riza longer, they’d been in the Academytogether, so Roy knew his loyalties lay with her. Plus, the whole team wasaware of the shit he’d put Riza through. If Roy was them, he’d pick Riza overtheir CO as well.
His apartment was cold and uninviting when he entered. Itwas times like this he wished he had a dog. Someone to greet him when he camehome. At the thought, an image of Hayate popped into his head and Roy brushedit aside. That reminded him of Riza.
Sitting on his bed, Roy stared into space as he ran over theevents of the night in his head.
Why did he kissher?
Because you wanted toknow what it felt like one last time.
They’d been together as teenagers. They’d slept together.That night of her father’s funeral Roy had whispered his promises anddeclarations of love against her skin. They still stood true to this day.
He wondered if Riza remembered any of them.
She’d been pissed when he’d left her again. Roy knew that.Perhaps that’s why she had ignored his words.
All through her life he had let her down and hurt her. Shewas wise to find someone else and leave him behind.
*          *          *
Monday morning came and Roy entered the office looking likehis usual self – which nowadays looked brooding and miserable – holding hisbreath to see if there would be signed transfer forms on his desk or not.
His stomach dropped when he saw them sitting there. Heclosed the inner doors to his office, blocking out the rest of the team wholooked on with their familiar looks of concern.
Dread prickled over his skin as he rounded the desk.
They were unsigned.
He let out a breath of shocked relief.
Selfish bastard.
The knock on his door drew him out of surprise. He squasheddown the hope. What he’d done was inexcusable and didn’t warrant hope. Riza is happy. Without you. Remember that.
“Good morning Captain,” he greeted professionally despitethe knot in his stomach.
She didn’t sign them.
“Good morning, sir. Could I request a minute of your time?”
“Of course. Take a seat,” he gestured towards the chair infront of his desk. The doors closed quietly behind her.
Riza took a deep breath as she composed herself. Her handswere folded in her lap, her posture perfect. The way she was holding herself,it was controlled.
“I was wondering if we could talk. Privately, after work.”There was a fire in her eyes that showed she was pissed. Roy sighed. He had alot of work to do and was unsure why she was dragging this out to be longer andmore painful than it needed to be. She could have signed the transfer papersand be done with him. She could have moved on with her life.
“If you wish,” he replied carefully. Curiosity may havekilled the cat, but now he wanted to know whyshe was dragging this out and why she hadn’t signed those papers. He had arough idea but wanted to hear it from Riza herself.
“My place? After work?”
So, it really was to be private. Probably to avoid a publicshouting match.
“I don’t think that’s wise, Captain, given your new socialcircumstances.” Her jaw locked.
“I don’t have a problem with it, sir,” she replied. Roycould almost hear the hint of sourness in her tone. “It’s my apartment, afterall. Not Eric’s.”
“Of course. I apologise for the assumption. Would you like aride home?”
“That would be lovely, sir. Thank you.”
“No problem, Captain. Is there anything else I can help youwith?”
“That will be all, sir.” She vacated the seat and saluted,not quite meeting him in the eye.
She was pissed.
Probably about the transfer papers.
Whoops.
Too bad he couldn’t really bring himself to care at thispoint.
*          *          *
“Transfer papers?”Riza stressed as soon as they were in the comfort of her own home. “Really?”
“I gave you the opportunity to get out, should you want it,”Roy explained, taking a seat on an armchair by the fire. Hayate hopped up onhis lap and breathed in his face. Well, at least someone in this house washappy to see him. “How I acted was inappropriate and I would have understood ifyou didn’t feel comfortable working with me anymore.”
Riza blinked at him, seemingly surprised by histhoughtfulness. Then the hard tone was back. “Regardless,” she stated, enteringher bedroom to get changed. He banished the thought of her undressing from hismind. God, she had no idea the affect she had on him. “When I signed up to workwith you, I made a promise and I intend to follow it through to the bitter end.Don’t assume that I would brush you – orwhat I did in Ishval – off like that just because of your idiotic actions.” Shefell quiet and Roy heard the sound of fabric rustling.
She was right, as always.
Roy turned his attention to the room to try and distracthimself from Riza undressing and wished he hadn’t. There was a tie neatlyfolded on the coffee table, a suit jacket draped over the chair by the table.
Eric’s.
There was a photo of them both. They were smiling and happy.Roy looked away. Then, he noticed another photo on the coffee table. It was ofhim. And Riza. They were young. This was taken at her house when he’d been astudent. They were grinning, an arm around each other’s shoulders. Royremembered this. Mr. Carson from the farm next door had taken it. He felt apressure building his throat as he saw that photo. He hadn’t seen or eventhought about that photo in years.
And here it was, sitting proudly on Riza’s coffee table nextto a photo of her and her partner.
“I’ve always loved you, Roy, but I’m happy with Eric,” shewhispered.
His head snapped around to face her as she entered the roomagain. She was a vision in grey sweatpants and a hoodie from the Academy.
The revelation confirmed his thoughts and he nodded,offering her a sad smile. “I understand.”
“I… I wanted it to be you but… Eric has opened me up toother things. And it’s nice… To be loved by someone who doesn’t know how muchof a monster I truly am.”
Roy nodded, knowing the feeling. Even now, they were stillhaunted. It was expected, but it didn’t make it any easier.
“You are wonderful, Riza. Don’t ever forget that. And Iwould never take that happiness away from you. I just… I wanted to tell you howI felt. And I ended up showing you instead.”
Riza nodded, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink as shethought back to the kiss. Roy shivered minutely as he remembered her moan, herlips moving against his.
“Can… Can I admit something that you might hate me for?”
“I could never hate you, Roy,” she smiled softly.
Hesitantly, he stepped closer and grasped her fingerslightly in his. It felt so right to have them both entwined together.
“In that stock room I was overcome by the thought that Iwould never get the opportunity to do it again. The last time I kissed you Iwas eighteen years old – over fifteen years ago – and I wanted to do it onemore time. Just in case I never could again.”
Riza was silent and offered him no other comment. He didn’texpect any either.
“It was dumb, it was inappropriate, it was selfish. I knowthat. But… I know “I couldn’t help myself” doesn’t justify it, but it’s true. Iapologise for that, but you know I’ve always been an arrogant idiot,” he added,smiling sadly.
The corner of her mouth quirked up into a genuine smile.
“May I?” he asked, opening his arms.
Riza nodded and stepped forward into his embrace, holdinghim tighter than he thought she would. Roy responded in kind, holder her tightagainst him while a piece of his heart shattered at the acceptance that thiswould be the last time he’d ever hold her like this.
They had spent fifteen years already hiding how they feltabout each other. What was the rest of their lives at this point?
It would be easy. It wouldn’t crush him. It wouldn’t shatterhis heart in two to see Riza marry Eric. Not at all.
“I will alwayslove you, Roy. Don’t forget that.”
He chuckled to himself. It was fitting, really.
“And I, you.”
He kissed the top of her head, giving her one more squeezebefore he let go, driving the final nail in the coffin that was their personalrelationship.
All those years together… Well, at least he’d have them tolook back on fondly. He’d been loved by Riza Hawkeye all this time, and he hadloved her in return. Even without being able to show it or proclaim it to theworld, it had been enough. More than he’d ever deserved.
“Anyway, I should get going,” Roy announced, stepping awayto put distance between them, both physically and emotionally. “Thank you forgiving me the opportunity to explain myself. I really do appreciate that.”
“Of course,” she stated. Roy had already turned away to pickup his jacket, but he noticed the hitch in her voice. He ignored it. He had to,because if he turned around, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from drawingher to him and holding her close, never letting go.
“Goodbye Captain. I will see you tomorrow.”
“Goodbye, Roy.”
He ignored the emotion in her voice, her wet eyes, andsmiled as he turned away a final time. Roy nodded to himself as he stood on thelanding, Riza’s apartment door closed firmly behind him.
So that was it.
It was done.
He would hold onto the hope that things might not work outin the end for them both, but he would never actively look forward to thatpoint. After all, she was happy with Eric. He wouldn’t take that away fromRiza. However, he promised himself that if the opportunity did present itself,he wouldn’t waste it again.
At least they could still work together. At least he still hadthat. He would still be able to see her, which was all he asked for. Theywouldn’t be moving away. Riza had made it clear she still had a job to do whileby his side. Roy had until he was Fuhrer then she would be gone. Well, that’swhat he theorised. Her job would be done, so why would she stick around? Their job would be done. Roy would makethe changes necessary then be executed for his crimes. That was how things weresupposed to go, and that’s what he had resigned himself to years ago. He didn’tdeserve the happiness he would receive from being with Riza. Not after Ishval.
It was fitting that she would find someone else. After all,he was the biggest monster of them all, and deserved nothing.
Perhaps it was better he would never get the chance to findhappiness with Riza. He would always love her, but getting the chance to beloved by her, to hold her, to kiss her… It would make his judgement day evenworse. He would die aching for more time with the woman he had loved since hewas a teenager. This way, he would die wondering what could have happenedbetween them, but with the knowledge that he’d atoned for his sins and notenjoyed himself like he longed to after robbing thousands of their lives.
There would be nothing dragging his focus away from hisjudgement day. That was the endgame. Always had been, always will be.
Shoving his hands deep in his pockets, Roy turned and walkeddown the hallway and out of Riza’s personal life.
Guy's eyes opened wide as they filled with shock and disbelief.
'No...' he whispered.
'Oh, you can believe it!' Temon's eyes filled with pleasure from the gained reactions. 'Please don't be so shocked.'
'But- But it can't be!' Tenten said. 'The first Hokage had only one child; an daughter!'
'Oh, mind leaving my most annoying uncle aside?' Temon puffed disgusted. 'I am no child of his and I'm tired of being associated with his being.'
'But then...' Neji murmured, as he connected the dots in his head.
'You don't have to mind Temon, my dear.' Kana told Kaiya. 'I am your opponent, not him. I'm sure your friends can do just fine with him.'
Kana grabbed her sword and prepared to attack. Instinctively, Kaiya put her hand in the small purse in which she always carried a few kunai. She searched through her purse and realised that she only had one Kunai left. Shit! She started regretting that she left her Tachi home. Even if it did hold a little weight, she decided that she should carry her sword in every mission.
'Last time you had an dumb luck, but now, you will truly face my Dragon cry!' Kana proud fully tugged onto her sword and aimed at Kaiya who struggled to keep her balance, while Temon started shaking the ground again. Kaiya pulled out the kunai and looked at it in disappointment. It was an kunai she had used for years, and the results of her training and battles were visible through the chirps and scratch marks on it. She held her kunai with an grip and did the craziest, yet most rational thing she could do at the moment: she tried to dodge the giant sword with her kunai.
'Kaiya!' Neji yelled.
The brown haired girl couldn't handle all the force with which the Dragon Cry hit her, and was pushed into a tree, hitting a tree mercilessly, fact that was proven moments later as a little blood dripped from her forehead.
'Kaiya! I'll go check on her-' Tenten took a few steps back, willing to go to Kaiya's in, but was stopped. A huge wall of dirt rose around them.
'Ntz, ntz, ntz. ' Temon shook his head in disapproval. 'You see, young lady, when you start something, you must also end it. The same goes for this fight. We won't stop until one of us -you most, likely- loose. Kana will take care of your little wild friend.'
'Wild friend? Excuse me, Kaiya is a human being.' Tenten protested, feeling offended by the blue-haired man's words.'
Temon sighed.
'That's why they shouldn't let women become ninja. They're always driven by their emotions. But Don't worry, young lady. The truth will eventually come out.'
'Truth?' Tenten repeated. 'What truth?'
'Don't worry about that, Tenten. We need to focus on how to get finish things quickly.' Guy said.
If he said that he wasn't curious about what truth Temon spoke about, he'd be a huge liar. He would've loved to find out more, but he couldn't let anything happen to his students. Whatever he meant when he talked about Kaiya didn't matter. Not for now, anyway. The four set themselves in an ready-to-attack position, looking at the man who just so relaxingly waited for their first move.
'We need to help Kaiya. She can't handle that woman all on her own!' Tenten whispered.
'If we want to help Kaiya, we need to beat this guy first.' Neji answered.
'Which... may take awhile.' Lee completed.
'If we want to help her, we need to hurry.' Guy said. 'Now, remember our training. Lee, remember what I told you about that technique.'
'I mustn't use it for anything but for protecting my loved ones.'
'Indeed. Now, if something happens and the fight takes an unexpected turn and i won't be able to protect you, I allow you to use it. Am I clear?'
'Yes, sensei.' Lee answered, feeling uneasy by the slight tremble in his sensei's voice.
'Prepare for the attack... Now!'
Kaiya slowly opened her eyes. For a second, she thought that her consciousness was still missing, but she soon realised that it wasn't so. She really did move. Weirdly enough, she didnt feel the ground under her legs. She slightly tilted her head around, and felt how her head appeared to be ten times heavier, along with an awful internal headache.
She unwillingly moaned, something that caused her to stop moving. She was pulled down by gravity and, as she hit the ground, more pain was send through her veins. She looked up with half open eyes the figure of the spiky-haired woman looking disgusted upon her.
Kaiya got herself up so she could be sitting in an cross-legged pose, and twitched as an pain shook through her spine. She searched her purse for her kunai, but it was gone.
'Oh, you must be looking for this.' Kana said indifferent, as she threw two pieces of metal towards Kaiya.
Kaiya catched the two pieces of metal and looked at them. If she was to connect the two, she would see her old kunai, now with an more obvious cut at its half.
'You're lucky that you had that kunai. If you would've not used it to protect yourself, be sure that by now, you would have been cut in two.' Kana informed in an now matter-of-fact voice.
Kaiya, who was still sitting on the ground, looked at her kunai.
'By the way, you're not good at hiding stuff. I found my backpack in no time at all.'
An shine could be seen in in Kaiya's eyes.
'I never meant to hide your stupid bag.' Kaiya said, raising to her feet.
Kaiya looked around and could see that huge earth wall somewhere not that far away appeared. She listened closely and could swear she was hearing screams coming from behind the earth wall. That must be where they are, Kaiya thought.
'Hey! Where are you going? Nobody turns their back on me!' Kana yelled, as Kaiya jumped on the tree branches nearby, closing the distance between her and where the Earth wall was.
'Don't be a coward. Come here and face me!' yelled as she arrived to her destination, sounding braver than she actually felt.
Kana appeared in front of Kaiya within seconds. As she looked down at the girl, one of her mouth's corners twitched.
'You don't really know what you're getting yourself into, do ya?' Kana murmured.
If Kaiya would've not learned to control her body so well, she would've been trembling under her opponent's gaze. If only her plan would work...
'What was that?' Lee asked, while panting down.
The fight didn't take place for more than two minutes, but it appeared that those 120 seconds were just enough for the man to bring out his strongest moves. Around them, the ground was all filled with cracks and gaps, due to his attempts in blocking them and the three man group and their sensei were already full of scratches and bruises. For a second, Lee thought he heard Kaiya yelling something about a cow and a face.
'What?' Tenten responded, without getting her eyes off the opponent.
'N-Nevermind.' Lee closed the subject, as he examined Temon.
Lee made another attempt at attacking Temon and tried to put him to the ground, but karma returned to him faster than he expected. Lee flew back and hit the Earth wall that was conjuring them.
'What. An. Idiot.' Neji mumbled to himself as he prepared himself for the next attack. 'Byakugan!'
Neji's eyes widened as the veins around pumped up to a thousand times their normal size as he activated his Kekkei Genkai. Due to the training he got when he was younger with his father, and later with his uncle and cousins, he got to almost perfect his Byakugan. He looked around him, checking on his teammates, then the opponent. At first, he thought he had something in his eye, and rubbed his eyes in attempt to clean his vision.
'What do you see, Neji?' Guy asked.
Kaiya was standing still while keeping her head down. Something stopped her from responding to Kana's insistent gaze that now rested on the back of her head.
'Be careful, child.' Kana warned. 'Playing cool will bring you nothing but eternal pain and an sure shameful death. If you act like this, you'll bring nothing but misery to your clan's name. Do you really want that?'
Kaiya's eyes widened in shock. She gritted her teeth and looked but.
'Who are you to lecture me?' Kaiya asked, her voice now holding an similarity with an roar. 'You, who knows nothing of me or my past. You, who has no pride and accepted to be send to intervene in others' business just for an pat on the back and a sack of money. Would you deny any of it?'
'Why would you so freely assume I was send by someone?' Kana narrowed her eyebrows. 'If you really want to know, I can assure you-'
'People like you, or anyone, to be fair, need someone to lead them through life. It came to me that people are dependent things that require constant attention and control. Even leaders need leaders. Thus, gods were created. They thought that the idea of an divine being with the supreme power among us would shut the defections out.'
'Defections?'
'The very few people who can take and control the harnesses of their own life and aren't afraid to fight for their freedom. The government is afraid of them.'
'Enough.' Kana spat out in annoyance.
Kana took the Dragon Cry in her hand and aimed it at Kaiya. Kaiya, noticing Kana's action, jumped a few meters into the air, landing on the nearest tree branch. In the blink of an eye, the Dragon Cry changed direction, following Kaiya. The sword missed her by just a few centimeters, planting itself deep into the tree.
'You-' Kana yelled annoyed as, with an powerful pull, she took the sword back, shaking the tree Kaiya was in.
Kana put her sword into the ground and, relying on it, she pushed herself up. She jumped just above the trees and attempted landing on Kaiya.
'You should've not done that. ' Kaiya murmured, as she jumped off the branch.
Kana thought she saw Kaiya grabbing something as she jumped but brushed it off, something that she soon had to regret. Kana landed on the branch and saw Kaiya next to her sword, smiling.
'Don't you even think of-' Kana called out, as Kaiya reached her hand out for the sword.
Kaiya, defying Kana's yells, curled her fingers around the sword. She attempted picking it up, but due to it's unexpected weight, she had to let the sword down seconds after, something that make Kana burst out laughing.
'Aw, you poor thing.' Kana laughed. 'I might have overestimated you. In order to use a sword, you must, first of all, train to hold it!'
Kaiya closed her eyes and breathed in. The grip she had on the sword tightened as Kaiya slowly opened her eyes. With an great effort, she pulled the sword up and pushed it to the tree in which Kana sat. It didn't take more than one hit for the tree to become unable to stand. Kaiya let the sword drop to the ground and, as the tree fell, she clenched one of her fists and pulled.
Kana's eyes widened. Threads. Before she could even do something. Meters and meters of threads pulled her to the tree trunk, conjuring her body, making it impossible for her to move.
'God damn you, Kobayashi! You will pay, I swear!' Kana yelled in anger, before hitting the ground with an loud crash!.
Kaiya stood there, shook by the woman's words. Who was she? How did she know? Kaiya advanced hesitantly to the fallen tree and saw how Kana's neck and legs were positioned in very uncomfortable positions. As she looked at the blonde woman, Kaiya felt a shiver running through her entire body. If she would've not heard an scream coming from behind the earth wall, Kaiya would have remained still for the rest of the day, sinking like a boat in her own ocean of thoughts.
Kaiya turned to the earth wall and looked at it. She wanted to put her hand on the wall, but her hand went through it, along with her entire body.
'Shit!' Kaiya cussed, as her body kissed the ground.
'Kaiya! Are you alright?' Tenten asked shocked and worried at the same time as she ran to her side.
'I guess you could say I've been better, but I'll do.' Kaiya answered quite truthfully, as she got to her feet.
She looked at the blue-haired man, who stared at Neji with pure interest and an controlled amount of shock I his eyes.
'An Byakugan? You must be a Hyuuga, am I right? I heard of you. You must be the only real treath there must be here. None of the others, including that wild beast you have there, should be an trearh Temon made a sign with his head towards Kaiya, who picked up his gaze with suspicion overflowing on her face.
'I'm fine.' Kaiya insisted, as she noticed Neji's eyes. 'What's that Byakugan of yours doing?'
'The Byakugan is an Kekkei Genkai from Neji's clan that-' Tenten started explaining.
'Get to the point.' Kaiya hurried her.
'His eyes allow him to see the chakra flow in someone's body. If I am right, there's an technique on this matter that allows Byakugan users to stop the chakra working in an body.'
'The eight trigrams, sixty-four palms.' Neji completed. 'Even though I only started recently on learning that technique, I could try give it a shot, but that would only be suicidal. Sensei, can you please try to attack him?
'Why?' Lee asked, as he rejoined his team.
'Don't worry, Lee.' Guy said. 'I'm sure Neji has an plan.'
'Neji this, Neji that, I swear to god-' Lee mumbled.
'Lee.'
'Yes, sensei.'
Guy did as Neji asked and attempted kicking Temon, only for him to be pushed away by an ball of light. The three students watched as their sensei hit the wall and didn't have a single reaction after that.
'I think he passed out.' Kaiya suggested.
'Sensei!' Lee wanted to go to Guy in the hope of waking him up, but was stopped by Tenten.
'No, Lee. I'm sure Guy-sensei will resist until later.' Tenten said. 'Did you find anything, Neji?'
'I... didn't see any chakra in his body, until he used that ninjutsu against Guy-sensei.' Neji said. 'I don't understand.'
'Maybe he's something like me.' Lee suggested.
'You do have chakra in you, idiot. It's simply on a lower level than most people's. This guy... this guy looks like he throws all of his chakra away from his body and then summons it all at once when performing a ninjutsu.'
'But... that's physically impossible!' Tenten argued.
'Never say never. Who knows what kind of overpowered lunatics there are out there?' Kaiya said, quieting Tenten.
Temon let out an deep laugh.
'You know, you should listen to your wild friend more. She might be more than you think.' Temon smirked. 'Don't you agree, Kaiya?'
'How do you know my name?' Kaiya asked, not even trying to hide her suspicious assumptions.
'How could I not, having Kana as my partner? Speaking of Kana... It's not usual for her to let her prey escape.'
'She didn't do such thing. She lost.' Kaiya said, with an now calmer voice, ignoring her teammates' shocked reactions.
'There's no way an kid would-'
'You can go check it for yourself, if you want to.'
In an moment of anger, Temon made a some fast hand signs. As he finished, the ground started shaking as threads of wood raised from the ground, getting a tight grip on the four genin's legs and then bodies. While Neji, Lee and Tenten were moving agitated in attempt to escape, Kaiya just stared shocked at the wood that grew on her body.
'There's no need for you to move. The wood only responds to my commands.'
Kaiya raised her somber gaze in order to see Temon, now fully aware of her opponents. She looked at Temon, who appeared to be drained from most of his energy after his last move.
'You.' Kaiya murmured.
'Finally realised, eh? I wonder why we always meet in such situations.'
'How could you do that, you filthy animal?' Kaiya asked angered as she tried to escape the wooden prison. 'Where's your soul?'
Neji, Tenten and Lee stopped forgot about their attempt of escaping and watched how Kaiya looked at Temon with an Wild gaze of anger.
'I would look in a mirror, before talking.' Temon responded, unbothered by Kaiya's verbal attacks.
'Disgrâce! Dishonneur!' Kaiya yelled, blinded by the fury boiling harder and harder inside her.
'What's happening with her?' Tenten asked her teammates, startled by Kaiya's reaction.
'Hmpf. Let's just say that... she had a little... inconvenience in which I was involved.' Temon explained. 'Am I right?'
'Je te chie dans le cou!' Kaiya answered, as she attempted to spit him.
'Now, now. Please don't act like this. You don't want to prove my word and get your friends an opinion on what you really are, now do you?' Temon tilted his head to the left, as he gave Kaiya an questioning look.
Kaiya grunted as she stopped trying to escape, lowerig her head.
'Kaiya...' Neji began.
'Never mind.' Kaiya responded, without giving Neji an look.
'Now, if we all calmed down, I think that we could finish our business smoothly.' Temon said, as he walked to an passed out Guy who still held the luggage close by in one of his hands.
'No!' Tenten yelled.
'Don't you dare touch Guy-sensei!' Lee exclaimed, now fighting and biting the wood that held him from protecting his sensei.
'Please don't misunderstand.' Temon said. 'I have nothing against your sensei; I respect him for taking care of such annoying brats. The thing is, i need that luggage and as less proof as possible. The last thing I need is another report over me going through the Five Nations.'
'Another report...?' Neji wondered.
Temon stretched his arms in order to get the luggage, but the only thing he got was a strong foot in his face.
'What the f-' Temon stopped himself as he took a few steps back, rubbing his now bleeding nose.
'You shouldn't talk so almighty, Temon. You've always been weak on that one, don't you think?' Guy asked as he got up, with an smirk on his face. 'I thought you learned your lesson back then and now know not to underestimate the eternal youth!'
Temon's face was flooded with utter shock, something that allowed Guy to give him multiple hits.
'You rock, Guy-sensei!' Lee cheered, pleased with his sensei's move.
Guy smirked as he looked into the blue-haired man's eyes.
'I don't know what happened to you, I don't know what your goal is, but I can tell you this: whatever you do, don't underestimate Konoha's shinobi.'
Guy attempted to give Temon another hit, but his attack was block as Temon grabbed one of his legs and pushed him up against the wall.
'Listen up, old man. I'll admit I didn't see through your little trick, but I never underestimate my opponent. Maybe you should do the same.'
Wood threads started to circle up around Guy, creating an small cage.
Crack!
'Hm?' Temon turned his head around.
Crack! Crack!
Temon raised his eyebrows. While three of the students were frozen in shock, one of them was shaking, her head down. Kaiya's hands formed tight fists and her muscles tensed. With each movement, the restraining wood around her showed apparitions of cracks, one by one, each deeper than the one before, damaging the wood slowly but safely.
'I've seen you before. I've seen your moves, your tactics... You can't get away now.' Kaiya said as, with an final move, the wood around her fell to the ground, divided in an thousand pieces.
Kaiya looked at Temon, whose smile began to tremble. A few deep growls could be heard coming from the girl's direction. What her teammates didn't see was that her eyes changed to an golden-ish colour.
'No.' Temon murmured, acknowledging what would happen when he saw someone's eyes turning golden. 'Please.'
It was too late. Kaiya's back arched as she ran to him, making almost inhumane sounds. Even though he tried, Temon couldn't fully protect himself from Kaiya's hit and was pushed to the ground. Kaiya crouched over him as she prepared to give him the final attack through an hit that would decapitate Temon.
'Please! This is exactly what happened to Jun. Do you really want it to repeat to someone else?' Temon asked in horror, as he closed his eyes and crouched in defends.
Kaiya's hand stopped just as it was about to hit Temon's head. She stared at Temon a few moments, before getting up and taking a few steps back.
'Don't try to attack us again, or I'll have no hesitation. Am I clear?' Kaiya growled.
The cage that held Guy captive, as well as the wood around Neji, Tenten and Lee crumbled, leaving them all to fall to the ground. Lee sighed in relief, although he was as tense as before.
'We should thank god.' Tenten said. 'Don't you think, Neji?'
'Actually, I think we should thank Kaiya.' Neji said, as he got on his feet. 'In the end, it was her who defeated this guy and freed us.'
Tenten watched how Kaiya walked away from Temon and checked on Guy's pulse. The ,she walked to somewhere next to him and grabbed the luggage, as the wall slowly crumbled to the ground.
'Hey, can one of you get him? My hands are already full.' Kaiya asked, as she pointed to Guy.
'Uh, don't worry, I'll get it, Kaiya-san.' Lee said, as he hurried to get his sensei.
'Did he just...' Tenten looked at Neji.
'Yep. He's just shocked and, knowing him, embarrassed. Can't say I'm not.' Neji answered, looking how Lee took Guy and offered to carry the luggage as well, something that was refused.
Minutes later, the earth wall was fully crumbled, allowing the wounded group to advance.
'What's with that tree?' Tenten pointed at an the fallen tree nearby, where the buzz of flies could be heard.
'Oh. I wouldn't go there if I were you.' Kaiya mumbled.
'Why?'
'The sun will set soon. I think that we should stop soon for the night.' Kaiya changed the subject, as she looked away.
'I don't see why we should do that. We're still in a good shape and we would only waste some useful hours of advancing, don't you think?' Neji protested.
'First of all,' Kaiya looked into Neji's eyes in a deadly manner. 'our sensei fainted. Carrying him only slows us down. Second of all, just because you want to act tough, it doesn't mean that the others do, too. Third and last of all, I'm tired. If we weren't to stop, would you be able to carry me, as well?'
Neji didn't bring aything in his defense, but prefered to mumble something under his breath
'Anyway, can we go a little further? I'm uncomfortable knowing that that weird dude isn't that far away from us.' Tenten suggested.
'Whatever.' Kaiya shrugged.
'Hey, can I ask you something?' Tenten asked Kaiya.
'I guess you can.' Kaiya answered in a tired manner.
'Speaking of that man, he mentioned something about an... incident?'
'Maybe.' Kaiya growled, looking away.
'He also mentioned about someone named... Jun and you seemed to know somebody with that name.'
'I do.' Kaiya now answered at such ease, that it surprised Tenten. She expected Kaiya to brush it off.
'May I ask, who is he?'
'Some weakling, for su-' Neji began, but couldn't proceed any further.
Neji didn't get to finish his sentence, as an punch was planted in his face. He lost balance and fell to the ground, bringing his sensei and teammate  down as well. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground with a bloody nose.
'Don't.' Kaiya growled warningly, before walking away.
'What? Where? Where is he?' Guy began to mumble.
'Guy-sensei!' Lee exclaimed as he forgot for a second about what just happened, turning his attention on his sensei.
'What happened?' Guy asked as he massaged his forehead. 'The last thing I remember was that I tried to-'
'You lost consciousness due to the power with which you hit the wall.' Tenten informed. 'You were out the rest of the fight.'
'Oh? Then you guys fought that man on your own?' Guy asked, amazed.
'About that...' Tente began.
'Of course we did, sensei!' Lee said has he began to gesture energicaly, something that obviously confused the poor man's mind.
'Lee!' Tenten scoffed. 'I'm sorry about that, sensei. We did our best, but the man seemed to be able to control wood, and he blocked us from moving through moulding some wood around us. Kaiya was able, somehow, to destroy that thing and eventually beat him.'
'Did you... kill him?' Guy narrowed his eyebrows.
'No.' Kaiya answered. 'But are we going to leave soon? The sun is already setting and we still haven't found an place where we can camp overnight.'
'O-Of course.' Guy answered while jumping to his feet, as he realised that he was still on the ground. 'Let's go!'
A/N
Wooo! Here we are, with chapter five from 'The Possesions of the Wild'. You might have noticed that I changed the cover of the book. What do you think? Should I keep the new one, or change it to the old one? Any of you new here, here's the old cover:
Moving on, yep, this chapter IS, in fact, longer, the chapter itself having aprox. 4200 words, thus with about 1,000 word longer. Yay!
What do you guys think of this chapter? Should've Kaiya killed Temon? Who do you think that Jun is? What do you think of Kaiya's eyes that changed?
Oh, yeah! You noticed that part when Kaiya spoke in another language? It was French. At first, she just said 'disgrace! Dishonour!', but after that she insulted him, telling him that she'll pee down his neck. Fabulous, don't you think(irony stinks here worse than a skunk)? Anyone wondering, no I'm not French, nor do I speak the language fluently. I looked up some insults in French and chose the best one from the list. 😂
Well, that was it for now, see you in the next chapter!
A Broken Will pt.2 - Felix
Tumblr media
pt.1
Told in Felix’s POV
A/N: Listening to Wedding Dress by Taeyang makes my heart hurt
“Felix! Today’s the day! Wake up and prepare for the royal ceremony!” My mother announced, shaking me awake.
This time, I was fully awake and functional. I nodded with a stoic face, showing no emotion.
“Ok mom, I’ll be there right away.” I said while rolling out of bed. The short woman crossed her arms and raised a brow as if she was investigating me.
“Huh?” I asked pulling on a shirt. She shook her head and turned around.
“Nothing, just be ready for the ceremony. I mean, it is y/n and Hyunjin’s wedding today, you must be prepared.”
Oh yeah, like I forgot that was happening today.
“Yeah mom, I understand. I’ll get up right away.” I stated curtly. She sense tension in my voice, but said nothing as she walked out.
I sat on the edge of my bed and sighed, placing my face in between my hands.
“How did I let this happen? How did you lose the one thing that made you happy?” I whispered to myself.
5 years ago,
I was dating the most beautiful, talented, and the sweetest girl in the entire world.
But 5 years ago,
I also lost the girl to my own insecurities.
And I never stopped blaming myself since then.
I felt a stray tear trickle down my face, making me feel pathetic. I felt more and more flow out, then suddenly I no longer had the ability to keep in my choked sobs. I covered my mouth and sobbed harshly into my hands.
I then heard a knock on the door, making me stop moving and wipe my face viciously with my blanket, that I would have to wash later.
“Yes?” I choked out, my voice not deceiving anyone.
The door opened, revealing my concerned mother.
“Felix? What’s-” I couldn’t hold in my tears in front of my fragile mother as she rushed to my side and shut the door.
“Honey, what’s wrong? This, this is supposed to be a great day. I know we’re not royalty but-” I shook my head, pushing her hands off of my gently.
“No, that’s not it. It’s just, just.” The words couldn’t roll of my mouth, which frustrated me. I felt the soothing touch of my mom who patted my back.
“I know, honey. You don’t have to lie to me anymore.” I pulled away from my hands, looking her in the eyes.
“Wait, what?” She laughed at me, her eyes crinkling into crescents.
“I know you were dating y/n when you guys were kids. I mean, it was quite obvious.” I sat in disbelief at her words. This whole time, I’ve been trying to hide my feelings from my mom, but she knew this whole time.
“And honey, I know you still love her, I see it every time I mention her name or every time you pass her in the hallways and especially whenever the topic of her marriage comes up. But, Felix, you know you can’t say anything against the marriage. That will end in your death.”
Her words hit harder than expected, putting my social standing in perspective. I wasn’t even able to fight for the girl I love in the fear of being executed.
I nodded, hopefully calming her nerves and mine.
“I understand. Don’t worry, I’m done doing anything rash from now on.” I laughed bitterly, remembering my foolish teen years. Instead of accepting my words, my mom slapped me on the head, making me groan in pain.
“That’s a foolish thing to say, of course you’re going to make mistakes along the way and be really dumb, I just want you to be dumb and alive, not dumb and dead, ok?” I nodded. She smiled and nodded.
“Now, I know this is hard sweetheart, but you must pull through. This is the life we were born into.” At those words, she turned and left a suit she carried in here at my door.
“This was tailored by the queen herself. I hope you wear it.” She shut the door, leaving me to my many thoughts.
The suit was a crisp black with a red tie, tying the outfit together.
I stared at the custom made suit as it mocked me, knowing Hyunjin, the groom, would be wearing a better suit, one that made y/n look at him like he was the last pizza in the box-
I cut off my thoughts, realizing why y/n could never marry someone like me. I was the guy who would think about pizza for a date while Hyunjin would take her our to a 5 star restaurant with like, lobster or something.
The clock ticked by, making the pain in my head pound even harder.
Then, I made the decision.
I put on the suit and made my way to the royal ceremony, which would also be the funeral for my heart.
I arrived at the venue and watched as all of the higher ups and royals gathered in one area, making me feel inferior and out of place.
I glanced around, looking for the queen and soon to be king, but they were no where to be found.
“Ew, why is there a servant here? I thought this was a very.. select group of people.”
“I know, like please leave the workers out of the actual venue, what was the queen thinking?”
I felt my pride take a hit, knocking me down to my knees.
If I didn’t know my place before, I sure as hell felt it now.
“Ladies, please, we welcome all guests. This is supposed to be a positive and cheerful event, let’s not mess that up, shall we?”
I heard the familiar voice say, making all the knots in my back tense.
“O-oh, of c-course, Prince, or I mean, King, Hyunjin.” The girls bowed and quickly escaped from the wrath of the king.
I suddenly felt awkward, having to be rescued by the guy the love of my life chose over me.
“Thanks, I mean, they didn’t really bother me though.” Hyunjin slapped me on the back, making me flinch.
“Nonsense, I will not have any of my guests discriminating any of my other guests. I do not tolerate this social ladder our society has been obligated to abide by. Plus, a friend of y/n is a friend of mine.” He said these words kindly, but I felt like they had a different meaning behind them. I laughed.
“Oh please, we haven’t talked in years. I’m sure you’re her best friend by now.” I noted. Hyunjin smiled.
“Yeah, I guess so. But you were still the first.” He looked me in the eyes with a steady gaze.
“But thanks for letting me have her buddy.” I gave him a tight grin and nodded.
“She’s better with you anyways.” I added kindly, hoping there would be no bad blood between the king and I. Hyunjin laughed.
“See you at the wedding?” I nodded. I saw his back disappear into the crowd, shaking hands with tons more people.
I heard the familiar sound of the wedding bells and melodic music playing. The crowd stood, awaiting the arrival of our queen.
I steadied my heart, hoping it wouldn’t freak out if I saw y/n walking down the aisle.
I felt my heart beat harder and harder in anticipation at the arrival of the woman who I should’ve grown old with.
I turned away for a moment, holding my elbow up to cough.
And that’s when I saw her.
My whole world stopped once I laid eyes on the most beautiful girl on the planet. She had a veil that hung on her back and of course, the poofiest dress she could have tailor made.
She always wanted to look like a princess.
But I could say, for certain, she looks like a queen.
Suddenly, her dark brown eyes locked with mine, gazing intensely into my soul, bringing back the happy and painful memories of our teen years.
But that contact was only made for a half of a second before she turned to face her groom.
The man she was going to marry.
The man she was going to grow old with.
The only man she had eyes for.
The pain in my heart returned, as if a hand reached out to squeeze all the blood out of my heart.
“You may now be seated.”
I slowly took my seat, thankful for the moment as my legs were losing feeling.
“We are gathered here today to celebrate love, life, and happiness. We are also here to see a new king be born and our queen finally make a promise to the love of her life.”
The crowd cooed and smiled at the young girl they saw grow from a bratty girl into a mature woman.
Y/n’s smile radiated as she gazed at the man in front of her.
And I knew that I would do anything to have her smile like that at me.
The whole ceremony passed by like a blur as I had blocked it out from my subconcious.
“Hyunjin, do you take y/n to be your lawfully wedded wife? To cherish her and to love her as long as your eternity may be gifted.”
He smiled at the queen, gazing at her softly.
Oh please, even I would swoon at that.
“I do.” The crowed whooped and cheered.
“And do you, y/n, take Hyunjin to be your lawfully wedded husband? To support him and his duties as long as your eternity may be gifted? To be a great wife to him and help him through all his hardships?”
Everyone waited for the queen to speak the words I’d been dreading to hear the entire ceremony.
“Felix, do you think we’ll ever get married?”
I stared the girl, smiling at her scared face, making her scrunch up her nose and hit me.
“Hey! What was that for?” I yelped, though I was still laughing. She hit me on the arm even harder.
“Ok godzilla-”
“Felix! Be serious for once! Do you think we’ll ever get married?” I was about to make a joke once more, but I saw her tear-filled eyes. My heart dropped at the sight; I leaned closer to wipe the tears that fell onto her soft cheeks.
“Hey, we can do whatever you want, y/n. I’m only following whatever you say.” I smiled. She pouted again, making me yearn to take away her sadness.
“But, I mean, you’re a servant and I’m going to be queen one day.” Her sobs became even more distinct when she started talking.
I sat up and pulled her closer to me, but she flinched away.
“I’m serious, I’m scared that one day, someone will take you away from me.” Her painful expression mine, and I knew I had no words of advice to give her as I was afraid of the same thing.
I tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, making her facial features clearer.
“I will never let anyone take you away from me, I hope you know that.”
Her face morphed into a smile, returning to the bubbly girl I know and love.
The memory faded, bringing me back into reality.
“Yes, yes I do.”
Claps and cheers erupted, petals and streamers flew, making me flinch as I would have to clean them later.
“Hyunjin, you may now kiss the bride.”
I saw him give her a shy smile, but nonetheless, he leaned down and claimed the lips I used to claim as mine.
The cheers grew louder as the couple stomped out being followed by the wedding party I wasn’t allowed to be apart of.
Followed by the guests I weren’t allowed to mingle with.
Followed by me, who belonged no where in this party.
I sighed, growing angry at myself for thinking these pitiful thoughts. Though, a small part of me knew they were true.
I wasn’t good enough to be here, I didn’t drink purified water, get a college education, dress in dresses and suits daily, and I wasn’t in the line for any royalty.
I was just me.
A servant, a poor boy who serves the girl who is sentenced to life to serve the girl he loves and the boy she loves his whole life.
And I wasn’t satisfied with this life.
I stormed out of the ceremony as the crowd was all mushed together so I wouldn’t look out of the ordinary.
I wasn’t too familiar with my surroundings, so I ran as far as my legs took me. I loosened the tie I never word and took off the blazer I didn’t own.
“Fuck!” I yelled to myself. I was at the back of the venue, thankfully it was completely empty.
“Hey!” I heard a voice yell. I jumped in front and stared the person in front of me. I could’ve felt my heart stop beating right then and there.
“Y/n?” I stuttered out. The girl scoffed, returning a pose that wasn’t fit for a queen. She crossed her arms and raised a brow.
“Where do you think you’re going?” She asked with that snappy tone I used to admire. Which now just pissed me off.
“Just taking a breather, sorry I’m not used to prancing around with the royals.” I felt my tone turn bitter. She shook her head, smiling despite wanting to tear my head off.
“Ok, ok, fine, be like that Felix Lee. But this is my wedding, and shouldn’t you at least be trying to enjoy it?” I scoffed, placing my blazer on the nearby table.
“I don’t have to enjoy anything that I’m not meant to partake in. I know my place.” I spat. As soon as I said those words, I wanted to take them back.
The girl paced back and forth, making me forget she was a queen and instead just a girl I once knew. And a girl who once knew me.
She then stared at me with a gaze that could kill.
“Fine, be like that! But this is my wedding, and you aren’t going to ruin it.” She spun around, making her wedding dress spun magically around her.
Out of impulse, I grabbed her wrist.
“Wait, I didn’t mean that.” I blurt out, confusing myself as to why I was trying to confuse the girl.
As I turned her to face me, I saw tears trickle down her cheeks. I immediately wiped them away like the night when she told me she wanted to marry me.
I slowly cupped her face, rubbing the tears away.
She suddenly threw my hands off of her, making me jump back in surprise.
“No! No, no, no, you do not get to just swoop back into my life and do this! I am married now! Married!” She cried out. I laughed.
“Ok, you’re married but I’m not. Does that put that into perspective now?” She growled.
“Yes, it does. It means that I moved on and you haven’t.” I smiled cockily at her words.
“Ok, are those words for me or are they for you?” I asked, mustering up as much courage as I had.
She stopped moving, grabbing her dress to run away, but had no desire to.
She stopped to think about my words, making my heart beat out of my chest.
She then made up her mind and shook her head in disgust at me.
“They’re for you, Felix. Have a nice life.”
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You bent your knees to collide with your chest, waterfalls streaming down your face. Thoughts replayed in your head as trauma and stress increased by your rising heartbeat. You thought you had everything figured out, everything was figured out, but at the same time everything felt so wrong. You spent your days isolating yourself to prepare for classes and exams while spending the other half of the time either earning money or getting education. At first it was fine, but when it's on constant replay for month after month, it drives you insane.
Not one day in the past 3 months have you spent it on having alone time. Not one moment spent with Natasha, not one with Sam and most importantly, not one with Steve. Steve is your best friend, someone who you love deeply. At first it was like he was family, but it soon turned into you both awkwardly hanging out and pumping yourself up to make a move. You both knew Your feelings for each other, but neither of you would do anything. Eventually school got to you, cutting off any ties between you, Steve and the outside world completely.
Normally, you thought it would pass and you'd be fine, but you soon realized it wouldn't. That's why you were sitting in your bed at 2am after a long shift at work, crying and trying to sleep so you could wake up for school in a few hours. Morning classes sucked, but you needed the afternoon for your jobs. You weren't even a social person, but you did have friends and family. Those who you cared for.
The lights were off as the echos of your sobs bounced back and forth on the walls. After what seemed like eternity, the crying slowly softened and you found yourself laying down to rest your throbbing head. You were falling into a deep sleep until you heard a bang at the door. It was loud and brutal, so loud that you found your body jumping up to the impact filling the silent apartment room. It wasn't a normal knock, a knock like the neighborhood girls who sold girl scout cookies, but a knock as if a swat team was ready to invade your rooms at any second.
The muscles in your body ached as your head pounded to the beat of your heart, but you still slowly stood up and made your way to the door. When this happens in old horror movies, the peep hole is the last thing anyone would want to stare into after hearing a loud thump at your door, but you did it anyways. The doors slowly unlocked under your fingertips as you peeked through the hole. Nothing was to be seen, as if someone was covering the hole. Shivers were sent down your spine as you opened to curiosity.
When the door opened, it flew with great force. A mysterious figured fell back as his once leaning body fell to the floor of your living room. He quickly caught himself before sheepishly standing up, giving an awkward and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Sorry, (Y/N). I know it's 2 A.M., that's why I knocked loud, but I really need to speak-" He opened his eyes to meet your bloodshot, puffy ones. Ending his sentence quickly, arms raising up to your shoulders before embracing your body into his. After a long moment of him trying to figure out what to say, he settles for the easiest. "You don't have to speak. Just let me hug you, you need it."
The tears started to pour down your face as if you haven't cried in years. The man you loved, the man you cut from your life, was here. He was here and was helping you by just showing you he cares.
"I'm so sorry, Steve."
"For what, Darlin'?" His arms tightened around your body as your voice cracked.
"It's been so long, I shouldn't have cut you off so suddenly. You were the best thing that had ever happened to me and I just lost all connection from you because I was trying to maintain a lifestyle by myself."
"That's why? I thought you didn't want anything to do with me." He leaned his head back a bit to look at yours, not breaking the hug. "After all this time, I thought you hated me. I let it happen at first, but tonight I really needed an answer."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know it would end up like this." His eyes glistened in the moonlight coming from your living room window.
"Is that why you're cryin'?" One of his hands wipes the running tears off your face before moving to the spot on your back.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. I just... I just assumed I could do this all and still have a life for my own, but after I realized that I had no time to spare to be with my friends, it was too late. So I gave up and this seems to be the aftermath." You laughed at yourself before slowly removing yourself from his arms and closing the door. Your hands gripped the end of your sweatshirt sleeves as you wiped your face and replaced the sad frown with a happy smile.
"No, (Y/N). Don't do that. If you want to be sad, that's fine. If you want to cry, that's fine. I'm here, and there's no way I'm going to let you pretend to be happy when I know damn well you aren't." His hands grabbed yours before pulling your toward him, grabbing your waist and placing you on his shoulder. The quick movement made you yelp in surprise before laughing at his childish action.
"Steve! No! Put me down!"
"Not until I make you smile!"
"I'm smiling!"
"That's a fake smile!"
"Steve, it's 2 o'clock in the morning!"
"Times an illusion, (Y/N)."
After the small journey to your room, he plopped your back onto the soft mattress. His body soon climbed on top of yours before grabbing both of your hands with one and pinning them above your head.
"Steve! Don't you dare!" His hand raised, pointing one finger out. Your body squirmed under his legs, knowing what was coming. "Are you still as ticklish as you were 3 months ago, babe?"
"Steve! Please, I beg you!" Laughter filled your words as you stared up at the god-like man.
"Oh? You beg me?"
"I'll do anything!"
"That's tempting, but no."
"Steve!" You drawled out his name as his finger slowly poked your lower right side, making you laugh loudly. The biggest smile appeared on his face as he heard you scream in hysterics. You body wiggled, but his weight and strength held your down as he switched hands and began tickling your other side.
"Steve, please! I'll do anything!" You begged at the top of your lungs, probably waking up neighbors.
"Will you call off all plans for tomorrow so we can have a day together?" His words turned your smile into a frown, knowing you wouldn't be able to do that. "You know I can't do that." Your voice was full as disappointment, but he didn't care. He just wanted to make you happy.
"Well, that's too bad." His hand tickled your neck as you arched your back. "Steve, god, okay! I'll do it, just please- Please stop!"
His hands let go of your body before plopping his back down next to yours. You both gasped for air, both from laughing. He wasn't even being tickled to death, and yet he seemed to be more out of breath than you.
"Oh? You think that's funny, Rogers?" His hand trailed to his chest as he let out a heart-warming laugh. "As a matter of fact, I do, doll." "I'll get you! One day." You both chuckled next to each other, staring up at the blank ceiling. After a few moments of silence, his head turned towards yours with a concerning look.
"(Y/N). Please tell me what I can do so that you're never in the same state as you were before I got here." His words hit you deep, it felt like your heart sunk to the bottom of a deep abyss, never returning and forever holding you in an unexplainable emotion.
"I don't know. I really don't. I've never felt like I've hit rock bottom before, but I do now. I don't know what to do." You continued to stare up above, his gaze still focused on the side of your facial features.
"If that means I have to come here every night at 12pm and stay until you leave, I'll do it. All this time I thought I lost you, but I lost you to a whole different reason. What would have happened if I didn't come? What would have happened if I completely forgot about you and lived on with my life?" His body shifted onto its side. His hand trailed up to your face, gently moving it to look at him.
"I don't know." A sigh escaped your lips as you saw his inner eyebrows lift up in sadness.
"That's frightening, I don't even want to think about it. If I didn't come today, and nobody else came, it could have been for the worse. Realizing that I distanced myself from you because I thought you didn't want me in your life, but it was only because you couldn't have me in your life. All of those moments we spent together would be memories; memories I would dwell on. I didn't want those to be my last memories with you and I plan on making more. If I have to cut out things from my life just to help you and make sure you're okay, you'll be damn sure I will. If it's classes, I'll help. If it's work, I'll help. If it's money, I will help. Just tell me what's happening and I'll do anything in my power to make sure you're ok. You just have to tell me."
Your heart fluttered as his blue eyes connected with yours, love and worry written all over his expression. You slowly moved toward his form as his body inched forward, arms pulling towards each other and closing the gap in between your bodies. His arm swiftly slid under your side before bringing you on top of his body, legs straddling him. His lips moved against yours as your tongue met his. As moments passed by, air escapes your lungs. Your mouths slowly inches away before breathing in the shared air. His lips curved up; you mimicked his expression. A small chuckle escaped his mouth before his raised his eyebrow up at you.
"Why didn't we do this 3 months ago?"
"I don't know, but since we didn't, let's make up for it right now."
