Listen as a fellow Exhausting Man lover I feel like you should all understand that Tommy absolutely sometimes gets so annoyed with Buck he wants to pull his own hair out at the roots.

I feel like you should also know that that feeling is usually followed by a wave of adoration so strong it knocks you off your feet, because in a world where there are so many options, that little freak chose YOU as the one he wants to tell ALL his stupid annoying irrelevant shit to. He brings the whimsy, he brings the "I'm sorry WHAT" eyebrows, he makes fun of you for not being able to wink but he's bad at it too.

And the thing is, when there's Too Much Whimsy going on and you make note of it, it's not the end of the world. Sometimes the whimsy needs to be turned down a few dials.

(Sometimes the whimsy still doesn't get turned down and that's why the Exhausting Man chose an introvert - specifically because they're cool saying "I would like to sit in a quiet room by myself and disassociate for a while" to the Abundance of Whimsy, and they'll probably still get an extra dose on their way out but you're only gonna see them argue about it once in a blue moon.)

i also just want to point out the qsmp members' commitment to like never letting the inactive members die. like dantdm logged on twice and is canonically dead and everyone continues to blame mysterious happenstance on him. spreen is canonically dead and yet people are still like namedropping him even tho the house façade he built has been demolished and also probably consumed by a mountain. they meme on kameto who's barely been on except that time he was a fed spy that was iconic as hell. they just immortalize their members and they're always so happy to see old faces come back and it lowkey makes me emotional lmfaoo like missa barely logged on for a while but goddamn nobody forgot his name bc philza can't go one day without mentioning him and mariana barely logs on but every time fit saw the homeless mariana in roier's city no matter what he'd stop dead and tell it "come home" and when slime came back to the server for elections after having logged off for the last like two months everyone was still excited to meet him bc the others had kept his memories on the server fresh and alive, maxo died canonically in the nuke and pierre pasted his face all over the server, luzu vanished for months and we never forgot him either thanks to the computers and foolish's wack ass family tree. like when purgatory teams were chosen and team red constantly joked about how it would be so over for the other teams once germán logged on despite the fact that germán had only ever logged on ONCE, the way they cheered when they snatched rubius in the split of green despite the fact that rubius hadn't logged on more than twice since march. they just keep the names alive all the time and it's like

god okay. sorry for yet another text post. but i'm just still thinking about the argument that veilguard is bad because the only option re: morality of your player character that it gives is kindness.

Now, to preface. I understand where this criticism comes from. Veilguard IS a departure from the general scheme of the previous games, in several aspects. And i understand how people would be upset at not having quite the same kind of options/ways to influence the world. It took me some getting used to, also.

What i do disagree with, however, is using that to claim that the game is bad, irredeemable, and also meaningless n soft or whatever.

Because it's really not. It's just different, with a different narrative focus. I've played the previous games several times, and as i said before, origins is in first place for me. Veilguard is a very close second. And i'm not more right or wrong in this opinion than someone who thinks datv is the worst game in the series.

You can still make choices that will influence the world in wildly different ways, they're just not... ''genocide or no genocide'' kinds of choices. Which i can see how some people would not consider the difference significant enough to be interesting for them personally. Which is whatever, im not their dad, i dont really care.

However. I think it's kind of weird to say that ''the game made me resent being a nice person'' or that "kindness you dont have the choice not to offer isnt worth a lot"

Like, game criticism aside. That is just an objectively weird thing to say.

There are ways to phrase that particular dissatisfaction in a way that will not make most people side-eye you. This is not one of those ways.

The thing is, it was a deliberate choice in characterization. Since game development at AAA scale is. an incredibly complex beast, i suspect there were many different reasons for it, and not all of them purely narrative. It is also not 2009 anymore. We are not getting another Origins, like, probably ever.

But. Rook is established in the very second cutscene to care about other people. It makes sense narratively, too, with Varric being the one to recruit them. Their backstory also shows that they gravitate towards the 'moral' choices. It's not bad writing. It's deliberate.

That does not mean that everyone has to like it. And i don't think the people who are upset about the change in this gameplay aspect are stupid or wrong.

We are all different people with different preferences, and i really am sorry if the game ended up being a disappointment for you. I know how it feels, and it does suck.

But i also do think it might be worth to examine the way people choose to phrase this complaining. The claim that kindness is somehow diminished in value if you aren't offered the choice to be cruel alongside it. I just think that, like. misses the point of what kindness is?

I know what those people mean when they say it, i just...fundamentally disagree with the sentiment. And i think phrasing it in this way is incredibly weird. sorry 🤷‍���️

There is a better way to talk about this particular complaint. I just never actually SEE that being done. and i do think a lot of it comes from not actually engaging with the source material people are trying to criticize. Like, the person i sort of quoted earlier explicitly said they have not finished the game. If you never give something a chance in the first place, if all the information you have is second-hand, then i do not find your criticism valuable in any way. There is no substance to it, no backing. You are not proving a point, you're just chasing your own tail at that point. There isnt even a bone to chew. You've only heard of the bone. you havent actually experienced it.

Another part is people being too twisted up in the emotion of disappointment to actually see that they're not making compelling arguments, necessarily, and that they're actually being a tar pit.

I know not everyone thinks as much about the push towards dismissing the value of kindness for kindness' sake as i do. But like. It really is very weird to see this insistence that game bad bcs it didnt have the option to do a murder to an innocent person, or something. While also dismissing the horrible things we Are shown as 'not in your face enough'.

And honestly, personally? I dont love origins or any of the other ones specifically for the ability to choose the evil options. It's never even been a choice for me, because you can very well play the games without having to make the bad choices. theres always a workaround. And that workaround doesnt even harm u in any significant way. there isnt an actual like. terrible complexity here. I enjoy the dwarf politics quest a lot but ultimately, knowing the outcome? its EASY to choose Bhelen. Unless you're playing a dwarf noble origin, i guess. Rip Harrowmont 🙏 you would have made a terrible king.

And again, my personal opinion is not more right or wrong than that of someone who adored the prev dragon age games exactly because they allow you to make some terrible terrible moral choices.

At the end of the day. why are people still so pissed about a game that came out almost 6 months ago that many of them havent even played in the first place? Relax. take a walk if you can. Maybe move a snail out of the road if you find one. There tends to be a lot of them after it rains. Think about the ones that didn't make it. Try to find compassion for lives so easily dismissed. Maybe that will make you think about whether or not kindness on its own really is so lacking in value.

For two it was important, it was well crafted and played and it's goal was to recreate Jason's death, to have Bruce choose him, and threaten the batman stories as a whole. And just. I dunno. As a show of good faith toward the remaining Decepticons at the beginning of a new, united Cybertron, newly appointed Senators Bumblebee and Soundwave allowed Shatter and Dropkick to enlist into Autobot City's Defense Team.

These two turned out to be... not the best choices.

The city may have fallen to Insurgent Decepticon occupation had it not been for young recruits Hot Rod and Arcee's accidental interception of Shatter's communication with the fugitive Starscream.

To replace the errant Defense Team members, Springer and Blurr were reassigned from Iacon to Autobot City in their stead.

summary; oz throws a party to propose to dylan. dylan finds out they're the polycule's favorite.

“We’re enterin’ last,” Oz instructs. “At the party, I mean.” 

You’re at the vanity, doing your makeup. Buggy’s behind you working on your hair and he cracks a smile in the mirror, “The three of us?” 

“Just me an’ Dylan, sorry Baby.” 

Buggy looks at Oz with wide eyes, something you can’t quite read, and then he winks, “Gotcha, stars of the show.” Buggy kisses your shoulder, “No wonder you wanted to go all out.” 

You see Oz before he sees you – you’d never seen him in a tuxedo before but he looks stunning. His suits are nice, but they’re not usually tailored so well to his body;  you can tell that he got this made for him. Even from a distance, you can see that it hangs on him beautifully, crisp and hugging his curves without pulling or leaving too much room. 

It suits him. It really, really works for him. You make a mental note to have more dress codes specifying a tuxedo so you can see him in it more often. You take a short breath to collect yourself and that’s when he turns, catching your eye. 

You come closer and Oz is breathless when he sees you in your gown, smiling easily and kissing you on the cheek, “You look fuckin’ beautiful, Sweetheart. How’ya feelin’, nervous?” 

You smile and shake your head, offering your hand, “Never when I have you by my side.” 

There’s a brief flicker where you swear you see tears in his eyes, but it must be a trick of the light because they disappear as quickly as you notice them. He kisses your hand, holding it in his own and smiling, “You’re amazing, Doll. Ready for our big entrance?” 

You follow his lead, matching his pace as you both walk out into the room. You do notice the decorations and the chandeliers and the way he somehow made the space feel like vintage glamour, but the thing that really catches your eye is the sight of your three other lovers in front of the crowd. It’s the happiest you’ve ever seen them, and you swear they look like they’re going to cry too. 

One of your crew members hands Oz a transponder snail microphone and he breaks into a soft but amplified chuckle, looking out at the crowd, “Still not used to the tech here…hardly ever saw snails where I’m from. Not sure I’ll ever be over it.” He adds that softly, giving the crowd another smile, “Anyway, welcome to Oz’s Old Hollywood Bash, thank you all for coming. Would love’ta make this a yearly thing. 

“But this…” His eyes flcker to where Sir and Buggy and Mihawk are standing – Sir’s eyes specifically are gently glassed. Oz starts speaking again before you can give it a second thought: “This is actually a very special evening,” he says, looking at you. 

You smile back at him – his smile is always so contagious and he continues, speaking to you. “When I first came here, it was one’a the worst days of my life. Maybe the worst. I was grateful just to have a place to sleep away from all’da bullshit but you made me feel so welcome. An’eventually, you made me feel safe. I ain’t never felt…safe, seen like that, like the way that you make me feel. So I threw this party to celebrate that. Plus one other reason.” 

His words glide past you and you can’t even discern what they could mean when he’s taking your hands into his, looking at you meaningfully. He says your name so softly the transponder barely picks him up and it’s only when he’s very, very carefully lowering himself down to one knee that everything clicks – 

“Don’t hurt yourself,” the words are so quiet you’re not even sure that you’ve properly used your voice, choked by massive tears in your eyes and your heart beating so fast you feel dizzy. 

You see flashes in your peripheral vision from the photographers capturing this moment, one of the happiest in your life, and you squeeze his hand with bated breath as he speaks again, his own eyes teary as he takes an uneven breath, “I've been wantin' to do this a long time now and I finally got the guts." He pulls the ring box from his blazer and you’re already crying, your right hand going to your mouth. Oz looks at you with big, tender eyes, holding out the ring. "Will you make me the happiest guy in the whole world and marry me, Doll?"

“Yes,” you say, nodding and holding your left hand out to him. 

He smiles and slides the ring on your finger, his hands rough but still very gentle. You want to look at the ring but you want to kiss him more, leaning forward and holding him as you bring him into a passionate kiss. 

You offer your hands to steady him as he rises and he actually takes them which makes your heart swell. Through his time here, he hardly ever took your offers of help to make his life easier, too proud, so it makes you all the more assured in your decision to marry him. You’re a partnership. He trusts you and you know how much that means. 

The beginning chords of Lana Del Rey's Old Money begin to play and Oz smiles again, stroking your cheek with his thumb, “Will you dance with me, Sweetheart?” 

You nod and you’re still crying as he carefully takes you into his arms, swaying to the beat. Normally you both go a little quicker and more classic, almost a waltz, but tonight it’s clear that you’re both wanting to take it slow and savor your milestone together. 

Your left hand is on his shoulder but you move it to his chest to look more closely at the ring. You’re breathless all over again as you take it in, thick yet delicate with a dazzling red stone in the middle. “Tried to get one that kinda looked like mine but reminded me of all of us.” He presses a kiss to your forehead, “We all look great in red.” 

“That you do,” you say and you can’t stop smiling, curling closer to him as you dance, letting out a happy little sob, “You’re going to stay. You’re here forever, with me.” 

“This is my home,” he says easily, gently spinning with you. “You and the others are my home, my whole heart.” 

You dance some more, though eventually he tells you that he wants to do a lap around to make sure everything at the party came out alright. He tells you to enjoy yourself and like clockwork, Buggy comes over to take your hands for a dance. You smile, “Did you know?” 

“I did. He asked for my blessing, asked from all of us. And of course we all agreed.” 

“I’m really flattered, I would have thought that he’d propose to Crocodile.”

“Of course it was going to be you, My Star. You’re his favorite.” 

“What?!” 

“Yeah.” Buggy says it like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “And you’re my favorite. And Sir Crocodile’s, and Mihawk’s too. You don’t have to pick a favorite. But we’ve all picked you as ours.”

Your heart was already racing but you’re even more flustered, your face reddening, “Nooo, I don’t want a hierarchy.” 

Buggy shrugs, “Well too bad, we all agreed you're the glitter glue that holds us together.” He kisses your cheek and then smiles, “We wouldn’t have it any other way.” 

“May I cut in?” 

Your eyes are drawn to Sir Crocodile, who’d appeared at Buggy’s side, his well-tailored suit hugging him just tightly enough to make your heart race. Buggy’s eyes also trace over Sir’s body and he smiles big, kissing your hand and letting you go, “Mihawk’s alone by the bar anyway, can't leave my date alone.” 

You exchange smiles and as Buggy walks off, Crocodile takes your hand into his own and kisses it gently, bowing, “Congratulations, My Treasure. Oz did a very good job picking out this ring.” 

A small giggle escapes as you get closer, head resting on your Sir’s chest as you dance slowly, “Were you surprised? When he asked for your blessing?” 

“Not at all,” his voice rumbles low in his chest, the vibrations soothing under your head. “Did get overzealous and rip half the buttons off his shirt though.” 

You chuckle softly, looking up at him, “Can I ask you something else?”

“What’s that?” 

“Am I your favorite?” 

Something happens to Sir Crocodile when he looks at you – you don’t see it very often but when you do, it always makes your heart race. His eyes get a little softer, his usually reserved little smiles grow just a fraction of an inch. It’s barely perceptible but you and the others know him so well that you know what it means, and tonight he gives you one of those knowing little smiles and murmurs, “Whoever told you that wasn’t wrong.” 

You mingle at the party for a little bit – everyone wants to see your ring and congratulate you for getting it. As you make your rounds, your eye catches Mihawk’s and he excuses himself from the conversation he’s having and comes over to you and congratulates you. “Would you care for a dance with me to celebrate?” You ask, taking his hand. 

Mihawk smiles, a genuine little thing, and nods, “As always, I’d be honored to.” 

You lead him to the edge of the dance floor but you let him lead your dance, one hand in his and the other on his chest. He’s not as tall as Crocodile and between that and your heels, the height difference between you isn’t so stark. “I’m over the moon that Oz wants to – really wants to stay with us. Are you excited?” 

“I’m very pleased.” Mihawk’s pace slows just a little bit as he looks you in the eyes, “He fits in well with us.” 

“I’m glad you think so.”

“Especially you,” he says with a little smile, stroking over the back of your hand with his thumb, “Sir and I were talking the other night about how happy you make him. How happy you make all of us.” 

It feels natural to ask so you can’t help yourself, “Am I your favorite?” 

“Yes.” He says it like it’s easy, like he doesn’t even need to think about it. “You talk just the right amount. You always know when I need something sweet. And you’re the kindest individual I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.”

A blush crosses your cheeks at his praise and you smile, giving his hand a little squeeze, “Thank you, Dracule.” 

Mihawk nods and gives you one of those tiny, barely-there smiles. 

Soon enough the song ends and Mihawk gently tells you that he’s going to get a glass of wine. You smile and let him go, kissing his hands before he leaves. 

You’re not alone for long before Oz makes his way over to you, handing over a signature cocktail – a Sazerac with a bit of pumpkin spice – and predictably, it’s delicious. He smiles as you sip the drink, “Are ya havin’ fun, Doll? Happy?” 

“Over the moon,” you say, unable to keep from smiling. Your left hand is free and you move it to gently stroke his cheek.

Oz takes your hand into his own and kisses it, looking at your fingers with a smile, “This ring looks so fuckin’ good on ya, Sweetheart. You wear it very well.” 

“Well, someone with very good taste picked it out,” you say, and he smiles bashfully. “My fiance, actually.” 

“Don’t that sound nice?” He murmurs with reverence, relief almost. 

You giggle, “You know, I’ve asked everyone something tonight and I want to ask you too.” 

“What’s that?” 

“Am I your favorite?” 

There’s a pause, just a slight one, before he smiles sheepishly and nods, “Guilty as charged, Doll,” he says softly, kissing your cheek.

Noticing that TV and film will often have a character either have had an abortion in the past that isn't showcased on screen (and just used as part of the character's ~fucked up and twisted backstory~) OR contemplate getting an abortion in the present day but not to through with it. Just once I want to see someone delete that fetus within the events of the plot and not be like. Extremely majorly punished for it and/or be in the wrong

Where my Eddie meta differs from the popular fanon is I don't think all his problems are because he's gay and I don't think kissing a man would heal him or really benefit him much at all. (He is gay but that's not important right now)
