"The carefree shamelessness of a kid." That... entirely recontextualizes her relationship with Lancer in chapter 1, doesn't it.

(Long rant about the two under the cut)

I mean, consider what chapter 1 must have been like for her. The human freak she hates has just caught her eating school property, and if they report it it'd be the last straw that gets her expelled. Considering what she said to them in The_Newist_Girl post, they will probably do so immediately and remorselessly. It is only because of their mother and her kindness towards her that she doesn't cause a major incident on the spot. She begrudgingly agrees to just get some more chalk and head back to class.

(She also drops the line "If you haven't gotten it by now... Your choices don't matter" which uh. Speaking of internalization.)

Of course, it isn't that simple. The closet is both impossibly dark and impossibly big. And when the two of them go to leave, the door is slammed in her face and locked. The floor collapses under her and she falls through. The drop is impossibly far.

She wakes up in a new world that does not make sense. The first person (barring the freak) she sees starts shooting at the two of them. She finds an entire abandoned town, complete with a castle. And, perhaps the strangest thing of all, she meets a hooded figure who tells her about a prophecy. One she is a part of.

One that calls her a hero.

She doesn't believe it. When asked to accept her destiny as one of the Delta Warriors, she refuses. The hooded guy is knocked away by a kid on a bike. And he's the first person to finally give her a clear answer when she asks a question.

"Who the hell are you?"

"I'm... The Bad Guy!"

This is the first and only thing she has understood in the last few hours. He's a bad guy. He's getting in her way. Someone's getting beat up. After the fight, two facts make themselves clear. One, she needs to go east. Two, people are gonna try and stop her.

So she goes, alone, and makes herself a menace of the enemies. Beats them up, steals their stuff, and other sorts of things you would do in a normal RPG. That's what the enemies are for, after all. Why would she be nice to someone trying to kill her. Eventually, she's blocked by a door she can't open alone until the other nerds show up. She needs to follow them, but like hell she's actually gonna help them or change her behavior at all. There's no point. Kris and Ralsei are good and she's bad. They fell right into their roles, being all nice and stuff, but she's not like them. She can't think of anything good to say about someone trying to kill them like they can. She isn't delicate. She isn't skilled at anything. But she can smash things. And so smash things she shall. Just like she always has, and just like she always will. Don't know why anyone's expecting anything else.

She won't, she can't grow as a person like they can, not now not ever.

Susie's arc where she grows as a person begins after two rooms. It's the scene where Lancer mistakes Susie trying to intimidate him as advice on how to be scary and thanks her for it. His praise surprises her and having someone who appreciates her motivates her to become better. That's the basic reading anyway. But in hindsight...

Lancer is a child. A young child. Why? Lancer's age, for the most part, is irrelevant to his character. If you wanted him to parallel Susie, why not write him to be the same age as everyone else? How does the relationship between the two of them benefit from Susie needing to babysit the kid half the time they hang out?

She's his mentor. The one she never had herself. Lancer is bad at being scary. His evil laugh sounds like a baby Santa Claus. He has no idea what he's doing, he's just trying to be "scary and badass" like his dad. And it just so happens being scary is one of the few things Susie knows how to be "good" at. And with that in mind, Susie's words suddenly take on a whole new meaning.

Susie interrupts with a single word. "Stop." What Susie says next, about wannabe tough guys and bitten faces isn't her trying to scare him. It's her trying to crush him. The same way she was when she tried to play. You need to stop because you're bad, now here's someone who can do it better. But unlike back then, the person who told the kid to stop was the better person. The kid got the chance to see it be done properly and was told what exactly needed improvement.

And the next time they meet, Lancer acts far more intimidating. He's still not good, to be sure, but he did improve. He then immediately asks for feedback to try to improve more. He doesn't even have guys, he just wanted to practice.

And this shatters Susie's world view. This kid, this young, carefree kid who's just playing around improves. The kid who's the only person around she could understand or relate to, the kid who introduced himself as "the bad guy" *improved*. Whatever was wrong with this kid that made him a bad guy, that made him an outcast, didn't end up mattering. The support around him did.

In the very same scene Lancer shows improvement, he realizes your team doesn't have a name. To fix this, he asks everyone to drop a name in his bucket to be randomly selected. Kris doesn't and they "look like they don't care." But Susie does add a name. She might not put a lot of effort into it, but she plays along. Susie, who walked through puzzles, who disobeyed commands, who left the party behind, who repeatedly complains about you being slow, who refused help stop the very world from ending, put a name in the bucket.

And in every following scene the two are together, she encourages everything he does.

She expected to be able to play it because she was. She wasn't trying to be good: she liked the piano and she wanted to play it, so she did. Playing for the sake of playing with the carefree shamelessness of a kid.

But because someone thought she was "bad", they told her to stop. It's a role she's been assigned all her life. Without explanation, without justification, without fault, something as inherent to her as her voice, her claws, her skin.

So she internalized it. "Good" must be a role too, right? No one's ever cared enough to teach her about practice or training or perseverance. "Good" is something Susie would simply never get to be.

"Papa, you can't put the teacup there!" Hyunmi says with a squeal, stealing the plastic cup from her father's hands. Jake goes bug-eyed at her command. He's unsure what he's done to offend his daughter in such a way, one second changing her mood from excited to exasperated.

"I was just setting it down, sweetie," he murmurs. He turns to Layla for guidance, dumbfounded. The pup just wags her tail, a tiara sitting on her head to commemorate her title as "Crown Princess Protector." In Layla's eyes, she's just following protocol Jake was too lost in thought to remember, even if she has no drink or food to speak of.

"Not on the table! On the plate, papa. Like the princesses do." Hyunmi rolls her eyes and sets the cup filled with imaginary tea back on its saucer.

Jake sees your personality in Hyunmi with every scrunch of her face, the child a rotating wheel of expressions. Especially now, when she looks like she could smack Jake upside the head if she was tall enough.

Like clockwork, Hyunmi's plastic oven goes off with a shrill ring just as you enter the house in your work attire. You walk in with heavy shoulders and fatigue creasing the lines of your face, but seeing your husband and daughter in the throes of a tea party makes your heart seize up.

All the worries of your world disappear in that instant when they both cheer that you're finally home. It's easy to care little for the stresses of work, all long-forgotten as you watch Hyunmi boss her dad around like it's her destined profession and Jake looks at you like the first time he said he loved you.

Your daughter is fire and brimstone, but she's also built of flowers and the sweetest dreams. Her father could not be a better person to tame her storm, even if he lets her get her way ninety-nine percent of the time.

"How's my little lady?" you ask when she attacks you with a big hug. Her little arms barely wrap around your middle, but the five-year-old tries with all her might, anyway.

"We're having a tea party, mama! I made blueberry cookies," she whispers in your ear with a flourish. "Your favorite."

"Oh really? How did I get so lucky?"

"Easy. I'm the lucky one here," Jake butts in. He walks towards you, planting a kiss on your cheek when you're finally in arms-distance. "Missed you, sweetheart."

"Missed you more," you reply, snuggling deeper into your husband and moving your face to kiss him on the lips. It always feels like the first kiss, no matter how many years go by. Jake still has the tendency to make your heart race like the muscle isn't well-accustomed to his charms.

"Now that the queen is home, shall we continue with the party?" He dramatically bends as he extends a hand, making Hyunmi giggle from below. You accept the royal escort with a smirk, Hyunmi's hand in your other palm as you all make it to the living room table together, Layla immediately running over to give you welcoming kisses.

In this world, there is no place you'd rather be than with your family, your castle filled with only love and happiness. And it's all because of Jake, the king who holds the greatest treasures he could ever ask for.

I'm actually really proud of this one. Anyways time for my rant about the episode

Okay so there was a LOT this episode.

First off, I LOVE jax and pomnis new friendship. I think it's really cute and its nice to see jax let his walls down. I do not defend his actions at all, the way he treats gangle is genuinely bullying, but I do think he'll get better with Pomnis help. I think she'll help ease him into the group more and make him be a better person. Also, I sort of get why people ship jax and pomni now. I might be on that ship now🤭

Ragatha really broke my heart this episode. The way she was never asked about her backstory yet overshared anyway, the uncomfortable jokes she tried to make to fit in. Her losing it at Jax. I really relate to her character and im very scared for her. I think she might be the first of our main cast to abstract, as some people have already pointed out, she glitches when apologizing to jax. And I think its fitting, considering when kaufmo attacked her, she almost abstracted herself.

Lastly, Ribbit. Gooseworx confirmed "ribbit" was the person who abstracted before Kaufmo. Now, ribbit could be their actual name, or just a reference to them being a frog. We see jax during the intermission run through the hallway to stop at ribbits door, seemingly unable to move. I really hope we get to see some flashbacks with them in the future.

"An ugly one, isn't she?"

The two sisters nearly gagged over the sight of the 5 year old girl in front of them. She had turned up on their front porch one night, lost, babbling nonsense about flowers and people she called "uncle Terzo and Secondo." They had no idea who she was or why she was there. They weren't even the sisters who found her.

The little girl lay at the floor with a little doll in her hands, playing with the hem of it's dress as the two sisters continued their slander.

"A spawn of Satan, no doubt." The other sister, the blonde one, said with a repulsed expression like the mere thought of the little girl made her vomit. The sister with the brown hair chuckled in response.

"Did you see the way she tore the heads off the other dolls and disembled their limbs? I nearly had a heart attack when i saw it. And the way she told a pastor to go pleasure himself? She is a demon child." The black haired sister said to the blonde one, giggling and whispering like the little girl couldn't hear them. If she could, they wouldn't mind it because she wouldn't understand what they were saying anyways! Besides, the little girl couldn't even talk. At least, she never spoke in response to anything anyone said. But when she did part her two pink lips to speak, it would be spontaneous and she would utter the most morbid things a Catholic could think of. Her vocabulary, for a 5 year old, was vast and horrifyingly astonishing like she had been reading books since she was 8 months old.

"Is that a cigarette?" She once asked a sister who was holding a yellow pencil in her hands. "There were dogs in the field, don't you remember?" She said once to a choir girl. "I like the dead flowers." She told a sister who had taken her out to their gardens for the first time a night ago. But by far, her most blasphemous and worrying quote was spoken to a priest who was praying for her terrible health.

"Why don't you have your hands pointed down? Why is your cross upside down?" She asked, leaving the priest in shock and wanting to hand her off to a separate church.

"It has only been 4 days that this poor little girl has been in our ministry." The blonde sister said as she frowned upon the little girl. "She's already causing us trouble with all this devil talk she speaks of. And what's up with her face, anyway?" Her hand waved up and down as if she were tracing the toddler. The brunette sister hummed, her hands tightky clutched around the golden cross around her neck as if she was preparing for the little girl to cast a spell upon them.

"We don't know. The little demon won't tell us. She goes mute anytime we ask her about it. Some people speculate it being a burn, but she herself leaves random, cryptic messages about dogs and being attacked."

The two sisters just stared at the toddler, their eyes for the thick, 6 inch scar that extended from the edge of her right eyebrow to her left cheekbone. The blonde sister cocked her head to the side as if she were deep in thought and hummed understandingly.

"And what was her name again?" She asked the brunette sister, her eyes never leaving the girl in front of them.

"Perpetua." The brown haired sister answered. "Perpetua Emeritus." Her eyes also did not leave the small girl, almost like she was so ugly but so fascinating that the two women simply could not look away from her.

It was only when the girl--Perpetua-- turned to face them that the two sisters looked away. They averted their gaze in embarrassment and each faked an awkward cough. Perpetua's two thin lips parted, and the words that came out of her mouth were rasped and ugly, just like her.

"I'm going to be Papa one day," She said. "And you will all feel sorry for yourselves and knell for me."

I'm in a rambling mood so I’m gonna talk in more detail about Blinky X Kanjigar (Kansas) and why i think it’s neat so PLEASE HEAR ME OUT-

Okay so this entire thing started because of The Secret History of Trollkind, one of the tie-in comics for ToA, and while yes i know there’s controversy around the legitimacy of the tie-in books that is a separate discussion that I’ve already had (tldr: they are actually aligned with canon pretty well, Wizards just retconned a lot, didn’t watch the source material and people blindly nod along with it)

Anyways this all started with a certain panel near the end of the comic, this one specifically.

This panel is actually such a good demonstration of their dynamic as a whole now that I’m thinking about it.

With Blinky praising Kanjigars skills and showing his admiration for him (something I will get into more later and throughout) while showing concern for his well-being.

To Kanjigar putting an odd emphasis on specifically not failing and protecting Blinky before clarifying the rest of Trollkind as well.

to finally the hand placements going on in this panel, How Blinky is reaching out to Kanjigar as the latter doesn’t make a move back, Blinkys hands being opened while Kanjigars are closed off in fists.

Their dynamic in the comic (and overall) is just so fascinating to me, especially with how it shows just how much Blinky values Kanjigar, because you know his destiny speech? That iconic one said in the second episode of Trollhunters? That has lines ripped straight from things Kanjigar said during their journey across America to what would be Heartstone Trollmarket.

And unlike the similar moments in Wizards or ROTT it’s done so well and given such a good narrative reason. it’s to show just how much Kanjigar has helped change Blinkys world view, how he’s given him courage to not be as cowardly, to fight alongside Kanjigar and the others (Draal and Arrrgh) Like guys this spider of a troll admires this guy so much it hurts, especially with the rest of the info we’re given on their dynamic.

They’re described as Best Friends, Kanjigar was a Scholar before becoming Trollhunter, Blinky had to watch as Kanjigar died unable to do anything to stop it and one of his first reactions is to blame himself and say he could’ve done more to prevent it.

Which is where I get to ramble about the elephant in the room around these guys being so Doomed by the Narrative-core.

Okay quick context but the prologue in the first tie-in novel establishes how The Amulet tells the Trollhunter when they’re going to die right before it happens, so Kanjigar knows he’s going to die a day before it goes down, which gives us lines like

“-With his remaining time, the Trollhunter knew that he must say good-bye to those who were closest to him.”

”Kanjigar sat down beside the pair at the large reading table covered with open volumes and research scrolls and sighed, "For that, I apologize, my friends. I have been distracted of late. The burdens of the Trollhunter weigh heavily on my mind. But now. . . now I'm finally remembering what is most important to me."”

And a chapter or two later

“Blinky cried out at the top of his lungs to try to distract Bular. But the bridge was too far away. And so the two Trolls watched in horror as the Trollhunter plunged off the bridge and smashed against the canal floor into thousands of shards of rock.”

“"Why?" Blinky uttered in a hoarse whisper. "Why would Kanjigar not accept our assistance when we offered it earlier? Perhaps if I'd been more forceful in my-" "No," grumbled AAARRRGGHH!!!. "Kanjigar wanted it this way." "But... why?" Blinky had to ask again.”“

The slow progression of Kanjigar distancing himself more and more from those he cares about is something that i don’t see talked about much outside of Draal, people seem to not bring up how Kanjigar did it for all his loved ones, not JUST Draal.

(And even if it’s something that’s only really delved into in the books I think it’s still something that’d be a given? like why would he only do it with Draal but not others yknow?)

He used to bring Blinky and Arrrgh with him on patrols, Blinky has several memorabilia from their past adventures together, they were best friends I can’t emphasis this enough and watching as Kanjigar distanced himself from all of them makes me think about how differently him and Blinky go about protecting the other and their other loved ones overall.

Blinky doing so through being there, being present and willing to give advice or a helping hand ect.

which you can say is attributed to how both Dictatious’/Unkars deaths happened when he wasn’t there or present at the right time and later the same would happen to Kanjigar. I point back to my earlier reference of Blinky wondering why Kanjigar didn’t let him and Arrrgh join and help him with the added detail that Blinky was the one to initiate the request to accompany Kanjigar on his patrol.

”Kanjigar closed his eyes, exhaled, and stood up. "The sun has set above," said Kanjigar. "I had best begin my patrol." Blinky began, "Then let me gather my supplies so that AAARRRGGHH!!! and I might join -"”

And whenever Blinky does “fail” at protecting/helping a loved one, he puts the blame on himself, acting like he didn’t do enough or should’ve tried harder.

There’s also something to be said on how he doesn’t let himself truly feel many negative emotions and how there’s an argument to be made that he pushes down feelings like sadness, grief ect.

Like what was his reaction after Dictatious’ betrayal? Angrily burning his books, hell after his initial shock of seeing Dictatious alive and now sided with Gunmar Blinky quickly turned to anger.

When he thought Jim died at the end of season 3 of Trollhunters? Bro let a single tear fall from his eye and that’s it girl I know this is affecting you more than that.

Kanjigar and Vendels deaths? After the initial heartbreak bro just never addresses it after (which is totally not because of lack of episodes and poor writing no guys this has a deeper meaning I swear).

Moving on though with Kanjigar, he goes about protecting his loved ones by distancing himself from them, emotionally and physically (about the opposite of Blinky) and while yes you could say that’s just because of the pressure being Trollhunter has put on him, and I definitely do think that’s part of it, he’s always kinda been like that even before becoming Trollhunter?

He was worried/didn’t want Draal to pursue the path of the warrior, as he knew just how dangerous and deadly something like that is and while he had valid reasonings to be wary of such a career path, it resulted in him being dismissive and not engaging with Draal.

“But there was Draal the Deadly training in the pit, sparring with automated blades, dodging blasts of flame that shot from the floor. Off to the side, Jim saw another Kanjigar-this one also very much alive-paying more attention to the scroll in his hands than to Draal's practice.”

“"Father, did you see? I cleared the trials in less time than it took this morning—a new record! Are you not proud?" Jim watched the living Kanjigar pull himself away from his scroll long enough to say, "I'd be prouder if you'd put even half as much effort into your studies."“

It all just boils down to Kanjigar having good intentions but going about them in the wrong ways that ends up hurting his loved ones more than not.

Anyways back on track to what this post is supposed to be about and why I brought this up, I should mention now that while I love Kansas and think they should hold hands and frolick in the fields and be happy together, it just wouldn’t happen “canonically” aka what I think would realistically happen which is neither of them ever confessing to the other for several reasons.

One being wow! Kanjigar is- was- a married man! Draal needs to exist!!

And by the time Kanjigar does get divorced and separates from Ballustra that’s close to the time Deya dies and he becomes Trollhunter.

I do not think a recent divorce combined with becoming Trollhunter makes a good headspace combo to log back onto Grindr personally speaking.

These same reasons are why i think Blinky would also hold back on confessing anything because outside of him being a pansy loser- i doubt he’d try and confess to a guy who recently got divorced and with Kanjigar newly becoming Trollhunter which is already stressful enough, the last thing im sure he’d need is a friend of his walking up to him like “🌹🫦hey~” who he may possibly not even feel the same for, atleast from Blinkys pov.

and even after Trollmarket is established and time has passed, by then Kanjigar has probably dived further down into the mindset of “as the Trollhunter i have to distance myself from all of you” and being with Blinky would be the exact opposite of that.

And it’s hard to even think about trying to confess to someone who’s actively avoiding you and can’t even look you fully in the eyes.

Then of course the amulet starts ticking down to Kanjigars death, showing there isn’t anymore time to go back and truly reconcile or realize maybe this isn’t the best way to go about protecting the ones he values most, that maybe all he’s been doing is hurting them further.

So yeah neither of these guys are holding hands, all you are getting is yearning glances and the briefest of touches.

unless of course we bend “canon” which im not doing in this post so moving on-

Now that my foundations are layed i will finally bring up stuff from the actual series so do not fret, i have more to say about these guys outside of the tie-in book material, it’s just that the tie-in books give good background material.

At this point I think? I’ve established how Blinky praises Kanjigar but man dude, literally everytime Kanjigar is brought up in the series Blinky has something positive to say about him/praise him for.

One example being: ”Kanjigar was perhaps the most alert and able of all the Trollhunters.”

“But not the best, I'm betting.”

”Oh, the very best. Many songs and sagas have been written about him.”

Yet flash forward to Gnome Your Enemy and For The Glory Of Merlin and he says “-and our great Trollhunter, Deya the Deliverer-“

“Deya the Deliverer was the mightiest Trollhunter that ever lived.”

Blinky, my wonderful little Bi disaster, i need you to pick a lane. 💖

from KanjiAAARRRGGHH (which that episode I’ll get into more in a second) you have this “Kanjigar, why don't you simply talk with Vendel and the Tribunal? Surely, one of Trollmarket's greatest champions could persuade-“

KanjiAAARRRGGHH also showing Blinkys likely memorized all of Kanjigars moves is like the gayest thing you could ever do with someone who’s your “friend” can I be blunt about that ?

“Kanjigars creeping spider! A signature move.” Like gurl..

This next thing I talk about is definitely going into theory/delusion territory but isn’t that any fanon ship?

Okay so this

Blinkys reaction to Claire holding Jim’s hand in E14 I always found odd tonely, because they play such somber music over the scene once we land on Blinkys reaction and the way he looks at them? Like while yes I’m sure it’s him realizing “oh shit this kid is definitely gonna go into the Darklands for this girl” what if i inserted some delusion into this and said it’s also because he’s reminded of Kanjigar.

Like oh Trollhunter that would go to any lengths to protect and help his loved ones even if that comes at the cost of his well being.

And also from Claire’s side, even if Blinky has faith in Jim’s abilities I doubt Trollhunters are known to normally live long, atleast by Troll standards, so the fact Jim is a human child? there’s always a high possibility he could die at any moment, and leave Claire inadvertently heart broken.

And hmmm who else cared deeply for a Trollhunter who suffered an untimely death, one where he, himself had to watch without being able to help because he didn’t get there in time?

I’m just saying i think Blinky is reminded of himself and Kanjigar briefly in that scene that is all.

Honorable mention to this line because what did he mean by this I can't be the only one who thinks this has more meaning than just the current conversation happening, he’s just so strange dude.

And now finally.. KanjiAAARRRGGHH, oh KanjiAAARRRGGHH my magnum opus, my Roman Empire, one of my favorite episodes, the things I have to say about you..

The Flare, The Flare Kanjigar gives Blinky, an insignificant thing to anyone that isn’t an over analyzer/thinker but if this post hasn’t shown already, I am one of those so just wait and give me a second to explain the significance.

This Flare was grabbed from Blinkys library, which means Blinky likely bought it himself, that’s already his Flare yet when Kanjigar gives it to him later this sixed eyed freak holds it like it’s the most precious thing in the world and looks at it so longingly you’d think he wants to marry it.

quick derail to have you look at how he reaches for Kanjigar and his receding touch on two occasions with only a minute or two inbetween scenes, it’s relevant.

the last scene above, I want you to see just how- pathetic and sad- for lack of a better word, Blinky looks at Kanjigar turning away/The Flare he was given before Toby tries to reassure him with saying atleast Kanjigar will be accompanying them into the Darklands and how a smile spreads on Blinkys face before Kanjigar butts in saying “sorry nah I can’t 🚬”

Can you see how much this man craves Kanjigars presence back? like he misses him so much and clings to whatever he can that’s left of him or was gifted to him by Kanjigar like The Flare.

It doesn’t matter that he likely originally got The Flare himself, it’s the fact Kanjigar gave it to him, entrusted him with it and how this is likely one of the last times he’ll be able to interact with Kanjigar now that he’s dead and it’s under the circumstances where they can’t properly talk or get closer because they’re on such a time crunch to save Jim.

It’s like there’s always something stopping them from maybe finally getting their feelings out there.

for closing commentary I’ll say that I guess the reason i find this ship (and their dynamic in general) so fascinating to think about is the major miscommunication problem or moreso the lack of it in general, the fact that as long as Kanjigar is Trollhunter the chances of them working out or even happening in the first place is so low if not impossible since Kanjigar ultimately HAS to die or we don’t get the story we get, even if we’re doing something Post-ROTT. they’re always deemed to fail in one way or another, and I personally find that so fun narratively and I think that’s one of the main reasons I'm drawn to this ship alongside everything I’ve listed above and more.

If you read this far I'm genuinely impressed youd take the time and highly appreciate it! (I put far to much effort into this)

Personally, I feel like Sam would IMMEDIATELY know something is off and would have at least a vague idea of what's happening because of the whole "friends on the other side" aspect he shares with Dr. facilier from Princess and the Frog. And I feel like Lucius would NOT like Yuu AT ALL, and Professor Trein might notice that. Crewel-sensei is very smart and pretty observant in my opinion, so I feel like he'd feel something was off as well.

Sam WOULD be the first to know. I mean, friends on the other side? Yes, ur defintely right!!! Actually, I'm still in the progress of Yuu's hcs, since no one is able [or atleast, hasn't] sent me or made any hcs for Yuu, so I'm doing it myself, I've made Yuu a bit too scarily smart... from my point of view. I've been watching true crime documantaries and honestly... I've actually based Yuu off with these doc videos on YouTube, mot literally of course!! Its like,,, the criminal [depends on which] is incredibly smart, and some cases weren't even solved yet and I've based Yuu of of the fact SOME missing or murder cases hasn't been active for years since it had long been since that incident happens,, until it happens again.

So, I've wanted to put Yuu on this pedestal where they struggle from Sam, to other students, emphasis on Sam btw. Yuu thinks he's annoying asf. Yuu might crash out from this guy.

And Sam has actually been helping reader, not openly of course. His 'friends' had warned him that humans in another world, perhaps might be dangerous than he might think... who knows? It hasn't been confirmed yet! But, Yuu's actions says otherwise...

The first time Sam saw Yuu and you, he knew there was something going on with that look in your eyes. It was empty, soulless, maybe? Your silence was deafening even when there were people speaking, the screams in your silence spoke about pretty much everything. So, he kept an eye out on Yuu. Never had he ever felt this strong sense of eerieness in the atmosphere prior to both the otherworlders arrival.

He wants to genuinely help you, even if it meant Yuu will spiral. But, he can't. Once Yuu comppetely spirals, what will they do? Unpredictability is an intriguing thing, but dangerous if used in a situation like this. Little imp, want something? Here, he'll give it to you, space and comfort if you will. Oh, can't reach that? His friends could help you. He shouldn't stare at you with pity, but he wants you to be 'back to normal' where your soul can freely roam, not as a spectator, but an individual as your own. Now, how does he get this situation solved...?- ah, wait-

Crewel would think that Yuu acts weirdly around you, suspecting that they had a crush on you (well... they do but not in a cute way-) until they start smelling your hair.

Trein's cat, Lucius. This cat HATES Yuu. No, despises, Yuu. The cat literally chooses to go on readers lap but NEVER on Yuu, under any circumstances. And Trein is wary, too. For his beloved cat, had avoided a supposed admirable and heroic student? Yes, he too has suspicions on Yuu, he just doesn't want to assume.

But, his heart has this vague aching whenever he sees this child's eyes. The feeling of loss and numbness to everything, just following orders even if simple. Oh sweet dear child, what had that monster done to you?

And everytime he says 'you'. You get reminded of 'you' not you. Who...

Trein wants to help you find your identity again, or at least, bring back the ones they had stolen. But he can't do that, so instead he tries to make you spark an interest in something from his world, telling you small stories about himself, and even tutoring you on what you can't understand. Even if it meant it hurts seeing your hollow eyes spacing out. Please don't do whatever he thinks you might do. He wants to help you, save you, and keep you from feeling fear and the loss of purpose.

Vargas. He wouldn't know it at first, pretty sure like, around maybe,,, b4 after, whent eh incident in Scarabia ends and everyone is back to school. Vargas would see you slightly shaken from the events. And when I mean events, I mean the time where Jamil had locked both you and Yuu in the same room. Hah, it was mad terrifying. Imagine, being stuck in the same room with the person who stalks you, messeges you in the dead of night, giving you unwanted letters, killing your friend, kidnapping, and identity stealing, literally. From you. All while they claim in that same breath that they're doing this because they love you. Loving you in general, means loving what makes you, well, you.

What did they do to you exactly? Nothing too explicit. Just creepy staring at you, Grim? Oh, well he got fucking scared as well. The room was kindaa dark tbh. Its always been like that whenever Yuu is present. When Yuu is walking through the halls, it gets a bit heavier, a bit dimmer, and a bit off-putting for those who can see through the deception and lies. But after b7? That, but a hundred times worse than what I've described. So-

Vargas at least saw the dim light in Yuu's face, yours was completely blank, your soul is literally hiding. He notices it in a way where Yuu slips up and shows a bit of a creepy tendency they like keeping it a secret.

So he reports this to the teachers meeting. Imagine to his disgust and surprise when the other staffs had picked up this specific Yuu behavior they saw with their own eyes. Or some proof of it. How do they tell Crowley that one of his students actually need to get arrested and get expulsion for their behavior? But, then again..

Yuu could use this pitiful 'homeless and exploited' excuse for the entire news to hear about it and spread the next day, risking the headmage's reputation. And that, that scares the headmage. So he may have had to turn a blind-eye for it. And Vargas won't let it slide. He can't hurt students, he knows that. So he'll make sure Yuu gets to struggle a little more in this institution even when thats all in his authority can do.

theyre both part of my rpverse with a friend, of which I've talked about before. in fact i think ive shown you at least one of these before.

SO!! backstory. XD is the god of life, Kristin comes from a long line of gods of death. the gods dont die necessarily, they just decide they're tired of it and pass it on eventually, leaving the mortal plane and going off yknow. XD hatessss the whole family because theyre his rivals. And also Kristin took his angel [Drista] away when she got heavily injured and prayed for it. Who knew an angel of life could die. ANYWAY this left XD without a head servant, basically. So he created a new one- Phil! XD sends Phil down to get back at the family, but mostly Kristin. But he doesn't specify how.. So the guy he sent with Phil– Technoblade I– decides that they'll just like. Break into the castle and break some crap. They get caught [obviously] and thrown in the dungeon. This is where the first one comes in.

   Phil was resting when he heard it. Footsteps. Different ones. He sat up from where he was leaned against the hard obsidian walls of his cell. He needed to listen.

   The regular ones he heard came first, their light clicking against the floor familiar to his feathered ears. The warden. Then came heavier ones. They were graceful, but the person who was walking was obviously taller than the warden.

   His interest was piqued. Would there be a new prisoner? A visitor? Or perhaps the executioner, coming for any one of their heads? He hadn't been expecting to die today, but then again, he hadn't expected the guards to break his wing either.

   Then the voices came. The footsteps stopped and the voices started. The warden spoke first.

   "Now, My Lady, I present to you, the dungeons. I haven't a clue why you would want to come down here," The warden said. My Lady? This person must be powerful or something.

   Phil hadn't been moving, but if he had been, he would've stopped the moment he heard the second voice.

   "I've heard rumors that you aren't just keeping wayward Ender here, but a human and a piglin as well." The voice was calming and beautiful, yet sorrowful, like a mourning dove twittering in the branches of a decaying tree.

   "Yes. We've recently captured a winged human and his piglin brute wandering around the castle. We suspect they had broken it with the intent to steal from or harm the royal family."

   That was not the intention of their break-in, though Phil couldn't will himself to object. He likely wouldn't have been heard, and it was not worth it. He had learned what happened when you spoke out of turn here.

   "Well, humans can't pose too terrible a threat. Why, they're just so small and cute... There's no way they'd be able to hurt any of us."

   Ah, so she was royal after all. Phil shouldn't be too surprised. He moved in his cell, ignoring how painfully his wing dragged behind him on the floor. From where he could see, there were shadows cast on the wall at the far end of the dungeon. One of the shadow of the warden, tall and prideful. Then there was one that was even taller, with sharp horns and dragon-like features. She seemed beautiful, from what he could see from the shadow.

   "My Lady, I can already tell when you want. I cannot permit you to see it."

   "Why not? I'm of higher authority than you. I should be able to visit whichever prisoner I choose, and I want to see the human."

   The warden was silent for a few moments.

   "Later, my highness. It is supper, the inmates must eat."

   So Phil watched as the shadows moved away, not being able to make out the words any longer. He had hoped she might've been able to come back and saved him, help fix his wing, let him finally free. But he had hoped wrong. At least he'd be getting some food today.

this one was written quickly a year or so ago to show my friend one of the ideas i had, along with some accompanying backstory of which i summarized above. something that i didnt say that i do wanna share because its cool to me; Phil is an angel, obviously. Since he was XD's, he had light yellow, almost white, feathers. However, as he stays in the mortal plane, his wings slowly shift color until he and Kristin get married, in which they're completely black. He has fallen for the enemy, become the Angel of Death. fallen angel in XD's eyes, new creation in Kristin's. anyway.

the second one is much shorter, not having been finished. Basically takes place in the future when they're married and have kids. Btw. Technoblade isnt their biological child. Technoblade I and his wife. Tragically passed away during a siege in the Nether, and since Phil was his best friend, he got his son, who was unnamed because you have to earn your name in Piglin culture. so he just named him Technoblade II. Wilbur and him are called twins because they were born on the same day, just a year apart. They consider themselves twins. so basically, in the rp, Kristin gets stuck in the Ende Realm for several years and then finally comes back eventually. so i wanted to write how that happened. never finished it, but the main idea was that Kristin moved to the Overworld with Phil and lived there with their children. They go back and visit often, staying for a few weeks in the Ende and then coming home. XD is ticked that Kristin first stole his sister/assistant, and now stole his angel!? So. He plants an uprising, sprung by having sent people to pick off small villages around the borders of the kingdom, which Kristin did nothing about since she wasn't there. It was the other rulers jobs. But the people got angry and tried to overthrow them. And so they had to rush back for the safety of the children. Phil, Tommy, and Wilbur got separated and made it through the portal. Techno and Kristin went together, but the portal started breaking. Kristin got Techno through and then. She didn't make it out. Cut off from all contact. Very sad, I know. But she makes it back!! Eventually. Uh. 19 years later. this is actually also part of Ranboo's backstory but that's not what we're on about. Hint hint they were the child of two important women in one of the villages that got attacked. This one is not CLOSE to finished and i think I want to write even what i have, but you'll see i put a note in the wip of a line i wanted to include but didn't get the chance to. its not my favorite, pretty sure its ooc even for the rp version of these characters, but yknow.

   Phil had just finished setting up the portal to the Ende Realm when Kristin was ready to go. She had dressed up fancy, and put her crown and veil on for today. There would be no revivals, at least while she had her veil down and intact. Her sons had been cleaned up and were dressed as princes from centuries ago, though it wasn't necessary. Phil kept insisting the two dressed that way for the visit. Even Tommy, the baby, had been wrapped in fancy swaddling clothes overtop his usual onesie. The baby was excused from dressing up. 

   The twins had been dressed in white medieval blouses and khaki shorts, and Techno had put on his red regal cloak. Wilbur refused to wear his own. Phil had tried to make him wear if, offering candy and a new toy, but he wouldn't budge. Kristin thought that was a bit strange, but she wouldn't force him to wear it. Not like it mattered much anyways, the land was quite lax with how young royalties dressed.

LINE TO INCLUDE: "But a goddess never truly dies, especially if she governs death."

that one is shorter than i recall!! but. Yeah. Not a favorite, can see why I ditched it. ill rewrite it and actually finish it one of these days though mwahah.

But, if you want Danny's opinion of these hunters, then I'd say that he'd initially have a similar opinion of them to what he had towards the hunters from Million Dollar Ghost. He'd initially assume that they'd be just as bad.

Towards the first group, I think that Danny would be a mix of curious regarding what he's mentally calling interviews, but would find humor in how they'd run from monsters & make mistakes, while also be somewhat worried for them. After the thing with them asking a ghost about their death, I actually think that he might consider stepping in to give them a short list of dos & do nots regarding conversing with ghosts.

For the second hunter... They kind of remind me of a medium. You know, someone who channels spirits so that they can act through the medium? So, I dunno. Maybe this could be a some sort of variation on the concept?

Anyway, I think Danno would think they're kinda nuts & might try to help the lower power ghosts if they're being used against their wills.

Though, I will say that the handcuffs could just be made of silver. Silver is actually a fairly common tool against monsters due to it being a symbol of purity.

But, as far as the corporate hunters, they sort of give me merc or bounty hunter vibes. And I think that Danny might pick up on that as well.

For the last one, I think Danny would initially get annoyed with the monster, but I also think he'd secretly enjoy the witty banter.

Ghost king Danny and his hunter opinions

I saw many posts about Danny meeting John Constantine and messing with him. But I wonder about what Danny thinks of other hunters while he is the ghost king, like I want to know what Danny will do when he is in front of a paladin who is ready to banish him to the ghost world or a group of hunters who thought Danny is a demon.

To make this idea fair let's just say the GIW does not count as a hunter group because, let's be honest the reputation of GIW everywhere is bad and let us not talk about them unless they are being embarrassed by other real Hunters.

Hunter from churches - Cross and holy water with bible to banish entities (ghost and demon)

Paranormal investigator - camera and some paranormal tool to help catch ghost

Scientist hunter - make weapons to hunt ghosts and monsters ( this opinion could be obvious because of Danny parents)

Hey so do you know where I could find this acting manifesto of yours?

I usually try and avoid publicly expressing my opinion on things like this but I recently saw some people commenting negatively on his acting again and I’m starting to doubt my own judgement.

I’ve truly never had a huge problem with his acting but I keep seeing people using really harsh words to describe his prior and current work. I genuinely think he’s doing a good job in THK but these comments sometimes make me think I’m missing something.

That conflicts with the fact I know at least three people he worked with on THK specifically had positive things to say about his acting too and I trust people who do this for a living to know what they’re talking about for the most part.

I guess I’m just looking for your post to have a more detailed perspective of the opposite viewpoint to “he’s a terrible actor” to help affirm some of my thinking so I’m more confident in my positive opinion of his acting.

Overall though I’m enjoying everyone in this show but for me I’m specifically enjoying the four mains the most. Kudos to them honestly.

Can I just say. Literally such an insane fucking series of scenes in Coin Locker Baby. Because you get Jo's despondence when he's saying he might have killed Arakawa--he's being a bitch to provoke Ichiban into a fight, but it's also an admission his inaction played a part, isn't it... and then you get him expressing that he's familiar with Ichiban's need to protect Arakawa... and then you get the sheer desperation and insistence in his voice when he says he could never kill him... and then you get--I'm not totally sure how clear it is in English--but you get him actively saying his feelings go deeper than Ichiban's without really explaining how... and then you get the tinge of fondness when he's thinking back on the old days when Arakawa lived up to his name... Like. Why Did They Do That. Any Of That.

ALSO. GOD. I've gotten so much shit the past couple days because I said I want to lock Jo, Kume, and Tendo in a room for five minutes For My Entertainment. Reading those tags felt like coming home honestly 😭 Like, even Ichi was ready to kill someone over Arakawa, and Jo was out here threatening to disembowel people [in the dub]. And I Think They Should Be Allowed To. As A Treat. So FOR REAL the biggest "I'm so glad we get to talk" 😭😭😭

On that note genuinely so funny that I took an extra ten minutes re-rendering the video because I forgot to put the "flashback" part in Arakawa's subtitles at first but then nobody read it 😭

But it's also something I've been mulling over because I'm delusional. Getting actors as high-profile as Nakai and Takei back for just A Flashback is kinda crazy to me because Arakawa and Jo's screen-time took up a full four percent of the entire game [over ten percent of the cutscenes] originally. But then if it's multiple flashbacks equivalent to that... what exactly is going on here that the past is so intertwined...

And Because My Brain Is Evil there is the fact that technically speaking, Yokoyama only said that line was from a flashback, and specified Arakawa wouldn't be appearing in the main story. Now of course a normal person would interpret that as him reassuring the audience he won't appear in any present-day scenes, but part of me was like. Oh So A Side Story Is On The Table [<- it's not it's fucking not it will not be in a million years]
