Rough translation of the song Roier told Cellbit to play after the server closed. Fuck The Reason, this is spiderbit's song now.
El Triste - José José
How sad it was to say goodbye
When we adored each other the most
Even the Swallow emigrated
Presaging the end
How sad everything looks without you
The seas from the beaches are gone
The colors are tinted with grey
Today everything is loneliness
I don't know if I'll see you again
I don't know what will be of my life
Without the blue bright Star of your being
That won't light me up anymore
Today I want to savor my pain
I don't ask for compassion or piety
The story of this love was writen
For eternity
How sad everyone says I am
That I'm always talking about you
They don't know that thinking of your love, your love
I've been able to help myself live
I've been able to help myself live

Or: Soulmates share their dreams every night and can communicate in them, but it's Spiderbit
For day three of @smallchaoscryptid's Spiderbit Week - Soulmates
-
Dream One: How to Train Your Dragon
He blinks awake and finds himself far from the battlefield. His clothes are dry and not muddy, his skin is clean, his teeth feel dull in his mouth.
He's in a strange room: fireplace, stiff bed beneath him(but, really, any kind of bed is better than what he's had since the War started.) The smell of cooked fish.
He grimaces. He likes cooked flesh better, thanks.
This is a dream. He knows it's a dream, so he doesn't hesitate in hopping out of bed and stretching. There isn't a burn in his muscles, and the dull ache of his growing bones is finally gone. Heck yeah.
It's peaceful, in a way. Weird, but peaceful. Really disconcerting, but peaceful.
And then a monster screeches outside loud enough to shake the windowpanes.
He instinctively reaches for his sword, realizes that, right, dream. Of course he wouldn't have his sword in his dreams, that would be stupid.
He runs outside, anyway, because duh. If there's a monster, he wants to see it!
He sees the dragon first: large and yellow and missing one of its legs. It growls at him with a weird dragony smile, and he smiles back.
He sees the child second: short with messy hair and freckles. He gasps when he sees him and runs at him with a gap-toothed smile.
"Hi!" he chirps. He's speaking Portuguese, but that isn't what his mouth is saying. Dream stuff, huh, must be translating everything.
Neat.
"You're my soulmate, right?" the boy asks. He looks him over appraisingly. "You aren't that much older than me."
He scoffs, crosses his arms. "I'm literally so much older than you."
"Yeah? Well, how old are you, then?"
He blinks, throat dry. "I'm-" (He can't remember. But Bad always says that he looks to be about 13, so...) "-13. So I'm way older than you."
The boy puffs his chest out annoyedly. "Only by a few years. Screw you!"
The dragon flies off, bored. He would care more if there wasn't an annoying little kid in front of him pissing him off.
He takes an angry step forward, arms falling to his sides and hands balling into fists. He might not have his sword, but he can still beat up a kid easy.
"Screw you!" he shouts. "Get out of my dream! I wanna go hang out with the dragons."
"It's our dream, idiot," the kid huffs. "We're soulmates, duh. My grandpa says that everyone shares dreams with their soulmates, so we're obviously soulmates."
"What the fuck is a soulmate?"
The kid gasps, all anger pouring out of his tiny little body. "You don't know what a soulmate is?"
He doesn't know what his own name is, but he isn't exactly gonna tell some kid that.
He turns to leave and go find the dragon, but he's stopped by both of the kid's tiny hands grabbing his sleeve and pulling at him until he stays.
He turns to look at the kid, and the kid smiles and explains.
-
"Soulmates are, well, soulmates, okay? They're like super best friends, that's what my grandpa says. His soulmate is dead, but they still hang out in his dreams because that's where your soulmate lives until you find them. And after you find them, too, I think, but I dunno. He says he never met his soulmate before they died, but I think he's lying 'cause he's really silly sometimes."
"Okay, but. Us? You and me? You're a kid."
"You're a kid, too, you know."
"Nuh-uh. I'm a soldier."
"A kid soldier. But, anyway, we're soulmates! When we meet in the real world, we're gonna be best friends, I can tell!"
"Yeah? Well, don't be too sure. I don't do friends."
"Wow, you're emo."
"What the fuck did you just say to me?!"
-
Dream Thirty-Two: Cyberpunk
He laughs as he chases the kid through the slimy, neon-ridden back alleys of the city. He's on a motorcycle, because of course he is, but the kid is on foot.
"Just give up already!" he shouts.
The kid flips him off over his shoulder, grinning widely. He keeps tripping over his own shoelaces, because he's running like an idiot, but he's somehow still faster than the motorcycle.
He doesn't know the kid's name because the kid decided it wouldn't be fair to have a name when he doesn't know his own. Sweet kid. Shame he's annoying.
"Fuck you!" the kid replies. He then proceeds to trip over the cuff of his pants and fall right onto his face in a muddy puddle.
He cackles triumphantly and slows the bike to a stop. He hops off it and goes to poke at the kid until he gives up, but... but he's crying. Quietly, he's crying quietly, but his shoulders are shaking, and, oh, right, he's a child. He's the younger one.
His face falls. He kneels next to the kid and helps him sit up with a frown.
"Are you okay?" he asks.
The kid's lip wobbles, and his eyes shine, but he nods. "It's just a dream. It doesn't really hurt."
He isn't convinced, but, well. It is a dream. Nothing matters in a dream, right?
"Okay," he hesitantly says. "Come on, let's go play laser tag or something."
The kid's eyes light up. "Cool! I'm gonna kick your ass!"
"Oh, really?" he challenges. "You're on!"
And they run off, motorcycle forgotten.
-
"How did you beat me!?"
"I'm just a God Gamer, dude. Get on my level."
"You are so annoying."
-
Dream Seven Hundred and Fifty-Two: High School
"I think I'm going to give myself a name," he announces.
The kid's eyes widen. "Really? Took you long enough."
He rolls his eyes, but the kid isn't wrong. They've been meeting in their dreams for, what, two years? And they still don't have anything to call each other but "idiot" and "you" and "asshole".
But, well, it's about time, he thinks. The War is ending soon, he thinks. Bad says so, at least, and he's pretty good with knowing when things end.
With the War ending, he's going to have to go out into the "real world"... if he doesn't manage to follow Bad where he goes next. But where's the fun in that?
He shrugs. "I need a name. If I don't have one, I can't join the army."
"Why do you wanna join the army?"
"So I can keep killing people, duh. How else am I supposed to get food?"
"Uh, the store?"
"What's that?"
The kid rolls his eyes and pushes his shoulder. "You're literally stupid, what the heck?"
They're in some kind of food line, he thinks. They shuffle forward as the faceless teenagers in front of them get their trays and continue through the line.
He picks up his own tray and wrinkles his nose at the food he sincerely hopes isn't about to be placed on it. Where's the meat?
"What kind of name do you want?" the kid asks.
He's hit some kind of growth spurt, because he's finally up to his shoulder. Still short, though. Loser.
"Dunno," he responds. "I'll think of something later, probably."
-
"What about... Peter?"
"No."
"Miles."
"No."
"Miguel."
"No."
"Ben."
"No."
"You suck!"
-
Dream One Thousand and Ninety-Five: Mermaids
"Call me Cell," he says.
The kid- not quite a kid anymore, much closer to Cell's age when the soulmate dreams started- cocks his head curiously.
"Like, as in a cell phone?" he asks.
Cell grins as shark-like as the tail he's currently sporting.
"Exactly," he says.
The kid's eyes narrow. "Or, like in a prison cell. Did you kill someone again?"
"...Maybe, but-"
"Oh my God, how are we supposed to meet each other if you're in jail!"
The kid swims around in a frustrated circle around Cell, who just watches him, placid. Calm. Totally cool, definitely not at all sheepish over pissing his soulmate off.
That would be ridiculous.
Cell doesn't get sheepish, and he definitely doesn't feel regret. Not over some kid.
...Some kid who's his soulmate. They're best friends already, though, so he should be fine with Cell being stuck in prison for a bit.
Cell rolls his eyes and reaches out and grabs the kid and stops him from swimming. He looks him in the eyes, and he smiles, softer than intended. (He's Cell! He isn't soft. He's a killer!)
"Calm down," he drawls. "I'll be out of here before you know it."
"Really?" the kid asks. "Is your sentence that short?"
"Nah, I'm gonna break out."
He lets the kid go and starts swimming off in a random direction, not waiting for the kid to follow. (He does.)
"Must be a shitty prison, then," the kid comments.
"Trust me, I'll be out soon, and then I can try getting up to Mexico again to see you."
"Then I can teach you how to drive."
Cell flicks his tail at him annoyedly. "Shut up, I can already drive."
"No way."
"Yes way!"
They continue bickering and chasing each other through the coral until Cell feels consciousness tickling at him.
"Hey," he asks, "I told you my name. You tell me yours."
The kid smiles, and he does.
-
"My name is Roier."
"And my name is Cell."
"You already told me that, idiot."
"Oh, yeah."

Dream One Thousand, Eight Hundred, and Twenty-Seven: 1920s Mafia
Even in his dreams, he's dying. He's in a pool of his own blood with a couple dozen bullets plugged into his chest, but it doesn't hurt quite as much as the goddamn betrayal burning his skin from the inside out.
If he dies in the dream, he wakes up. Cell knows this, so he's more than a little annoyed about the whole dying thing. At least in his dreams, dying doesn't hurt.
The cops that killed him have already long gone. They may not have had faces, but Cell knows precisely who they looked like. All four of them were traitors, all four of them!
"Bastards," he spits. He groans as the movement of his tongue alone sets off flares of imaginary pain (because he can't feel pain in dreams, but he sure can imagine what it feels like) all throughout his body.
In the real world, he's starving to death in a cave. In the dream world, he's choking on his own blood.
Great.
His eyes slip closed, and he waits to wake up.
He doesn't react as a pair of heels click towards him.
"Cell?" Roier asks, but his voice is just the slightest bit off. But, then again, he is a teenager now. His voice is going to be doing all sorts of weird shit. "Oh my God, Cell! What the- hold on!"
Cell gasps as he's rolled onto his back. His eyes flutter open, and he sees... a girl? A girl in a really bad wig. With even worse makeup.
"Roier?" he mumbles. "What are you wearing?"
Roier looks down at himself- red sparkly dress and all- and blushes slightly. "I'm... trying something out. But what happened? You showed up in the dream and you ran off and I heard gunshots and you're so stupid, what the fuck?!"
He grits his teeth and smacks Cell lightly on the shoulder. But that's still enough to wrack Cell's body with pain.
"I'm sorry," he wheezes, eyes squinting closed once more. "I'm dying."
"It's a dream, Cell. I'm just pissed you're leaving this early. You just got here!"
"No, Roier. I'm dying. In the real world."
Roier goes quiet.
Cell swallows the blood in his throat and continues, "Pac and Mike and... and Guaxinim. They betrayed me. Left me on an island. I'm dying."
"You can't be," Roier faintly says. "We haven't met yet."
"Didn't your grandfather say he sees his soulmate in his dreams? We'll be fine."
"My grandpa is also senile. Cell, I- you're so stupid."
Something wet falls onto Cell's cheek, but it isn't rain. It never rains in dreams. It's always sunny.
Fuck. He made Roier cry. Maybe is a monster after all, and not in the good way.
The dream world starts dissolving, starting with Cell's fingertips. It... tingles.
Why can't real death be as soft?
-
"You better live, or... or I'll never talk to you again!"
"I... I'll try. Roier, I'll try."
-
Dream Two Thousand, Five Hundred, and Fifty-Five: My Little Pony
Tonight, he's a horse.
Why not.
It's his first dream in, what, two weeks? He hasn't slept long enough to dream. It's hard to sleep when all he sees until the dreams kick in is his own mistakes.
But, well. Cell turned 20 today (he thinks, he's still not sure about his actual age), and Felps got him drunk to celebrate. Drunk means sleepy, and sleepy means dreams, and dreams mean-
"Roier!" he calls, running through the streets of the pony town desperately. "I made it!"
Roier knows that he's been having trouble sleeping since his whole moral dilemma thing started after Alcatraz. He doesn't quite get it, but he's trying, and that's all that matters, right?
None of the faceless ponies pay Cell any attention as he goes, but that's fine. Fuck them. He promised his best friend that they'd see each other, and they're going to see each other.
He doesn't have to look too far, thankfully, because, a few moments in, a blazing red blur bolts out of the sky and tackles Cell to the ground.
"Happy birthday!" Roier exclaims.
He grins, wings flaring behind him. What's this called, a pegasus?
Roier's eyes widen, and his jaw drops in shock. "What the fuck, you're a unicorn? Lucky!"
Cell tries looking at his own horn, going so far as to go cross-eyed, but all he manages to do is make himself look goofy.
It makes Roier laugh, at least. That's good. He's been having... a rough time, Cell thinks. He's been quieter when they have been able to meet up. Something about his brother leaving to go to college: a child prodigy gone to an exclusive university and leaving his twin behind.
Cell can't imagine what it would be like to have a twin. Weird, right? Someone that looks just like him but is different? Yeah, no thanks.
(He gave up on any ideas of family a long time ago. Thinking about whoever he had before the War just makes him sad.)
"You're red," Cell intelligently says.
"And you're green. You look like shit."
Cell bites Roier's ear and smiles as Roier lets out an exaggerated scream.
"Missed you," Cell says, and he means it.
"Yeah, well, I didn't miss you at all," Roier sniffs.
But Cell doesn't believe him at all.
-
"I still can't believe your brother's name is Doied."
"Our parents weren't very original."
"Maybe you should do what I did and just pick a name."
"Fuck you, man, I like my name!"
"Lucky. I wish I could change mine. It's too... heavy."
"I mean, you already did it once. Just do it again."
"...You're right."
"I usually am."
-
Dream Four Thousand, Seven Hundred, and Forty-Eight: Medieval
Cellbit hasn't seen Roier for days, and he's maybe starting to freak out. Maybe. Just a little.
Just before he'd disappeared, Roier had mentioned winning some kind of lottery. He was excited, and Cellbit was excited for him. He'd been looking for his asshole twin brother for years, he deserved a break.
But then the break happened.
And Roier hasn't slept since, apparently.
But Cellbit sleeps every night, anyway, even if he'd much rather be spending his nights trying to figure out where the fuck his soulmate went. Because Roier's... Roier is his soulmate. They've been sharing dreams for thirteen years now, they're best friends, and Cellbit is dying without him.
Tonight's dream has Cellbit in a knight's costume drinking flavorless alcohol in a bar. Nothing has tasted right since Roier has disappeared.
He isn't dead, at least. If he was dead, then he would be in the dreams. So he's just... not sleeping. Somewhere. Somewhere not sleeping.
Cellbit's hand shakes with rage and fear as he raises his cup to his lips.
He isn't a killer anymore. Well, he is, but he only kills animals now. He's a butcher, but not in the serial killer way. In the... in the butcher way.
(His hands itch for more blood, but he's been trying to do better.
He can't meet Roier if he's in prison, after all.)
It's as he's drinking that the bar's door slams open and stumbling in comes Roier in fancy robes with a gold crown perched on top of his head.
Cellbit drops his cup and immediately gets off of his stool to rush to Roier's side.
"Roier, what the fuck?" he demands. "Where have you been?"
He pulls Roier into a tight hug, mindful of his armor.
God, is he crying? How embarrassing, but Roier's seen worse from him.
But:
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Roier asks.
And Cellbit's heart drops.
Roier wriggles free and looks Cellbit over. This... this can't be Roier, can it? Because there's no recognition in his eyes as he looks at Cellbit, and no slight blush as Cellbit looks at him.
Roier gasps. "Oh, wow. Are you my soulmate?"
Cellbit's eyes sting. "I- yes, Roier, are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Kinda annoyed that you took so long, though."
Roier smacks Cellbit's shoulder.
Cellbit can't breathe.
"I'm 21, motherfucker!" Roier shouts. "What took you so long!"
"I've been here," Cellbit faintly says. "Roier, I've been here. What happened to you? You said you- you got invited to some island? And then you disappeared? What happened?"
Something sparks behind Roier's eyes, but it's gone as fast as it appears.
"I've been alone for years!" Roier exclaims. He groans and runs his hands through his hair, almost knocking the crown off his head. "God, what is Spreen going to think?"
"Spreen? Who's Spreen?"
And then Roier blushes, and he grins, and Cellbit feels sick to his goddamn stomach.
"Spreen is my best friend," Roier tells him, and Cellbit wants to kill.
-
"Where are you? In the real world?"
"On the island. Where are you? Maybe Osito Bimbo can bring you or something. We have train stations, there's gotta be special tickets for soulmates."
"I'm in Brazil. What island?"
"Quesadilla Island, of course."
-
Reality: Day One
Cellbit's head is killing him. Fucking... what happened? He can't... he can't remember...
"Cellbit, you doing okay?" Felps asks.
He seems fine, sitting on the ground and not at all caring about the literal shipwreck they're stuck in.
"Oh, sure, as Cellbit if he's doing okay," Mike scoffs. He's still not over the whole prison thing, but he'd been angry enough when hearing about Cellbit's soulmate being kidnapped to help kickstart the whole rescue mission.
What a good friend.
Pac rolls his eyes. "He's literally bleeding, Mike. Look at him!"
Oh, shit, is Cellbit bleeding?
He raises a hand to his head; it comes away bloody, oh.
At least it's stopped raining outside. Cellbit can't see much, trapped with the others in what might be some kind of office space just below-deck. But he can't hear the rain anymore, and he can't hear any thunder.
"I'm fine," he sighs. "I've had worse. We should-"
He's cut off by a shout from outside.
Pac's eyes widen comically. "This island is occupied?"
Apparently so, because in comes a whole stream of people through a single door inlaid in the far wall. Tall man in what has to be anime cosplay, slightly shorter man covered in... green goo? Woman in purple. Man in bucket hat. And...
Cellbit's eyes meet Roier's, and the world slots into place around them.
Cellbit stumbles up to the glass wall and presses his hands against it. So close...
Roier is much more hesitant to approach (he still hasn't found that Spreen guy yet, of course he's hesitant...), but he offers Cellbit a small, genuine smile.
(He's so much more handsome in person, what the fuck? When did this happen? He was shorter than Cellbit just a moment ago, he swears.)
"Finally," Cellbit breathes.
The crowd around them is drowned out by the sound of Roier's voice as he says, awed-sounding, "You actually came for me."
"Of course I did," Cellbit replies. He smiles. "We're soulmates, aren't we?"
Tears well up in Roier's eyes- happy tears, Cellbit knows him well enough to be able to tell the different by now.
And then the door opens.

had a lot of fun watching cellbit play buckshot roulette last night and got a rare urge to draw! :D
no promises i’ll keep this up but i slept on it and still like it, so onto the tumblr it goes i guess. man that high score really was something huh. anyway link to a piece of lovely spiderbit fanart i used as reference for the hair bc we cite our sources in this house (and i can’t draw hair.) don’t ask me why the second picture is more yellow my lamp is just weird like that.
medium: mechanical pencil for class notes, regular pencil i found under the couch, and shitty eraser that doesn’t erase on two (2) pieces of lined filler paper taped together.

(duckspiderbit anon) It can be nightmarish... but the hilarity of their dynamics combined and the sudden unexpected sweet moments they share at times make them perfect. Would LOVE to hear your thoughts on them btw, I'm very interested :D
anon i just want you to know that i have been trying to answer this ask since i woke up, i just apparently cannot talk about these fuckers without writing a novel, i am So Sorry.
i’m gonna try to be as short as i possibly can (spoiler warning it’s still not short IM SORRY) but like, basically. basically. in my head, right, in the version of events that lives in my head— roier and quackity already have a history. not exactly dating, just fooling around “as friends”, but it makes their friendship now very overly-familiar. they’re very touchy, very flirty, but at this point it’s all just playful. they’re just very comfortable with each other, you know? they’re best friends! and what best friends Aren’t this close, huh?
and cellbit isn’t fully aware of whatever they had going on before he knew them, but he knows there’s something he missed, like an inside joke he’ll never quite understand. and it’s not like that bothers him, exactly? because him and roier are completely secure, there’s never been a couple more fucking obsessed with each other, he knows he has zero reasons to feel threatened. it’s more like— he knows quackity is always going to special to roier, in this weird way, so they are just stuck with him. for better or worse. me and you and your friend steve, just a little bit, that’s kind of the vibe.
but it’s not like quackity and cellbit don’t also have their own share of familiarity. not nearly to the same extent, obviously, but they are familiar. cellbit gave him partial custody of his child, they’ve taken each others sides in disputes over how to raise said child, richas calls quackity pa, they are very much already stuck with each other anyways.
so like. what do you even do with that. right? what do you call your husband’s not-quite-ex and your co-parent, what does that make him to the two of you. and how is that impacted by the fact that he’s always desperately hitting on you both?
so again, in my head, in my head— i think it Has to be a slow burn with them. because quackity has baggage around relationships, right, he’s had a history of chasing romance just because he thinks it will fix him or make him feel something, and he needs time to cool off on that first. now, he never cools off on the flirting, i don’t think he ever physically could, but he needs to be okay with it not going anywhere. and i think spiderbit needs time to warm up to the opposite idea, that it might actually go somewhere. but over time they do. over time, quackity just worms his way into more and more of their life until they’ve basically made him a part of it without saying. they fall into comfortable routines. cellbit gets used to roier and quackity’s teasing, he starts to join in on it. over time, all the joke flirting just stops really being a joke, and all the friendly affection just escalates and escalates until they finally have to acknowledge what they’re doing.
they’re all very stupid about it. cellbit brings it up to roier first, who is somehow embarrassed because he thought they were all just joking and he was the only one catching feelings which he did NOT wanna think too hard about. they have a talk about what this means for them, come to an agreement, bring it up to quackity— who also somehow thought this was a bit and that they were just doing it all to tease him! and then, somehow, they’re both surprised when he says yes, because they couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. morons all around. they do have braincells, they just short circuit when they’re in a room together, it’s very sad and very comical
i actually…. okay, i Actually might’ve started writing the world’s most self indulgent oneshot about them, like… three or four weeks ago? idk, it was before school started so a bit ago, and i’m just never gonna finish it now i’ve accepted that but i Might just turn part of it into a comic. idk. idk we’ll see ahdkdjd if i don’t get too embarrassed to actually do it
anyways i’m sorry i talked so much i just have demons okay i have demons. and i didn’t even TALK about festa junina or “go take care of him” I MADE SO MANY CUTS GUYS I DID!!!!!

what is DNACE $ it intrigues me….
ok well dnace $ is. titled that because I made the doc while having a bit of a Moment and was too excited to turn off capslock while typing the title so it ended up as DNACE $ rather than "dance 4" and this was just funny to me so I left it.
as for why 4: well I mentioned in the tags of the post that dancefic has been a running Thing for me so. well. allow me to go into detail. general context is that I, irl, do ballroom dance, and enjoy being normal about it. so naturally I spin characters in my brain about it as well
original dancefic wasn't even qsmp, it was jmart when I'd just started taking dance lessons and was still into TMA, but. well you can guess what happened (it never got finished)
dancefic 1: back in may of last year people on qsmp had been using "bailar" as a codeword for "talk to sofia" so they could talk about it in chat without alerting the feds. which produced these two posts on tumblr user bigboobyhalo's blog (x) (x) and also this art by pppuri. and that had me go HUH. DANCE. You Know What I Can Do. and I started writing about cellbit and bbh having to put on a tango performance. and it was kind of epic and I put SO much work into it. like I had planned out an entire choreography and everything it was a lot of fun. but also halfway through the actual writing art I ended up losing confidence because I felt like it wasn't really interesting to read and didn't know how to fix that. so I scrapped it however tbh! rereading it for this ask it is not bad! like I still see what I felt the issues were but it's kinda fun ngl. there's early spiderbit. jaiden is here. kind of a vibe
dancefic 2: this doc is literally nothing it just says "slow waltz... wedding dance......" but. well it is about spiderbit. you understand. the thought is there
dancefic 3: also literally just bullet points but it was jaiden and roier. alas. the platonic silliness potential of ballroom dance is so very underrated I think
dancefic 4: for this one I was having a Moment in codes's dms about fitpac ballroom dancing. because I think there are some beautiful things that you can do with the leader/follower dynamic and the fact that who does which is not related to who is the more experienced dancer. and. ok well the ask game says post snippets I will just copypaste what the doc says (which iirc I also just copypasted from what I'd said to codes at the time)
fit feeling horribly awkward and out of place as pac teaches him some simple steps... i can't decide which of them leading i like more... like pac leading fit is great because big buff guy being the follower is really good (i typically do leading steps and have led people bigger (as in taller & wider) and also less confident in their dance abilities than me and it's SO FUN it makes me feel very silly. in a good way. i am just rambling and projecting now. anyway) and also pac would be more likely to know how to dance so he'd be the more confident one and be able to teach fit the steps HOWEVER i also really like fit leading because like. again he wouldn't know what he's doing. and pac dancing the follower's steps but still kind of leading anyway because he's still the one instigating all the motions and like guiding fit into how to lead him around is REALLY GOOD whagwuahghs (i have also done this it's a lot of fun)
like. you understand. you understand. yes. but. well I have also not actually written any of this it is just a Concept In My Brain but. yeag
(and there is also a dancefic 5. it truly never ends. but i talked about that one in this ask!)
[WIP tag/ask game]

Ok so just saw Across the Spiderverse so some predictions for Beyond the Spiderverse
SPOILERS
and look this is my blog I know it’s mostly sims but I can do what I WANT.
ANYWAY
1: We got the set up (Spiderham giving the hammer that ‘fits in your pocket’ to Miles), and now the reminder (mention of hammerspace at the beginning of the movie by Miguel in the vulture fight) I AM HYPED FOR THE PAYOFF COMING IN BEYOND. Miguel is gonna pull out the hammer from his pocket for a key save calling it now.
2: “You can’t have your cake and eat it too” “unless you make two cakes” *brings two cakes to the party, both smudged but still edible*. Yeah there is gonna be a continuing theme in chapter 3.
3: Man we all know Miguel is gonna have further development. He is gonna take on the role of foil (since he has been set up as foil with this one, but it was Gwen who WAS the foil in this movie) alongside Prowler Miles. Something big is gonna be revealed in regards to him not being a “real” spiderman (he was taking a shot that mimicked a spiderbite WHY), but of course the ending lesson being *anyone can be spiderman* and him truly realizing/re-realizing what the mask is all about.
“a non-evil vampire? OK.” = Miguel realizing he WAS the bad guy but can change.
4:Speaking of AU Miles HEY WAS THAT HIM IN THE LABS WITH THE SPIDER BEFORE THE SPIDER GOT POOFED INTO A ALT DIMNESION??? BECAUSE THOSE ARE SOME DISTINCTIVE BRAIDS. HUH. HAVE A FEELING MILES WAS ‘SUPPOSED’ TO BE SPIDERMAN ALL ALONG. Anyway Alt Miles better become a hero I’m just saying. Realizing that although the spider didn’t bite HIM, that doesn’t mean he can’t use the badass prowler powers to be a hero.
Also continuing but this is probably WHY 42 Miles is stringing our Miles up. Like... why not just kill him and be done with it? Miles is already spilling his guts. Why does Aaron and Miles not seem surprised? That is one hell of a poker face huh.
Like it could be said for Aaron at first he was keeping cool when he realized this wasn’t his nephew. But after? When Miles was talking about being bit by a spider? HMMMMM.
5: Miles’ dad is gonna quit the force, thus saving him.
Ok that’s it for immediate thoughts and predictions

Sky And The Forces Of The Multiverse, Chapter 36
Previous / Next
-
"Sky?"
Sky mumbled in her sleep, trying to bat away the person that was shaking her arm. Couldn't she just get a nice night's sleep after what had already been a rough day? Who was waking her up? She felt them shake her more fiercely and with a small glimpse she could make out enough to tell the figure above her was judas. There was no mistaking his purple face and dark hair, though sky remained groggy, as she tended to hate not getting as much sleep as she could.
"Judas...c'mon...not now...".
Seriously? Didn't they just get out of a crazy trial situation where sky herself was almost arrested herself? If anyone needed sleep besides angel, it was her, she tugged against her best friend, trying to get more comfy on her pillow how she could and go back to pleasant dreams where she wasn't almost killed or attacked or a combo of both. Though with noises going on in the back and Judas's constant attempts, she wasn't able to ignore him for much longer as reality started to return around her and to her senses.
"Sky, you need to get up! Angel's mother, she started freaking out in the middle of the night...the spiderbites and working on her right now...you have to get up...". Sky blinked away the sleep, sitting up on the bed to see a large crowd was forming around the bed, the lucitors, the butterflies, several nurses, the spiderbites, nora, angel, mason, all the girls. Whatever just happened, she must've slept through the action, and she suddenly felt more awake then ever.
She quickly tried to get her mind in order as she absorbed the chaos around them, people running around, loud voices, constant talking and movement that it was a miracle sky slept through it at all.
"What...how...what?".
"Angel was sleeping next to her to watch her and she started to jolt in the middle of the night, and he woke up and started to panic and he got the nurses attentions and everyone quickly started piling in, the queen was mostly stiff before, she never jolted before, they're so worried about her...". His eyes wandered to the crowd, so many people were talking to each other and moving in and out and sky could barely see what was happening over there, though the panic in the room was obvious.
"Is she ok?".
That was probably a stupid question to ask considering the paranoia around her but it slipped out anyway.
"I don't know sky, they checking on her right now...trying to see if there's anything they can do...some have been running out and grabbing materials and ingredients. Whatever must have been going on, it seemed like a serious emergency. Though among the commotion sky could hear Queen Spiderbite immediately shout over the others, trying to get them to stop panicking, as she asked the nurses to bring her some certain medicines and plants.
And was...her mother using magic?
"Judas...should we-".
"No, our parents said for us to stay back, let the professionals take a look at her...and well..angel...for good reasons. I had to wake you...you're kinda a heavy sleeper". Sky rubbed at her eyes, worry on her face, "Judas...what if...what if she...". Then a burst of light came from the bed where the queen laid, scaring everyone around the bed as Queen Spiderbite started pushing some of the viewers away, "Give her space, right now! I think there's some feeling returning to her legs, she needs to be able to stretch them!".
Quickly some of the crowd backed up, King Lucitor backing up to where judas and Sky were to alert them of what was happening.
"Queen Arachford had a "Jolt", because of her condition she was suffering from a stiffness that prevented her from being able to function like she used to. But since her species is magic, it seems a burst of magic occurred in her system, forcing her to react against her current condition...Queen Spiderbite says the suddenness had a chance of causing serious harm but Star's seeing if maybe they could bring movement back to all parts of her body again by spreading that magic out...".
"A burst of magic..huh".
"It's because of angel..."., The demon looked very serious, "The Arachmen went without a lot of serious magic for generations, making his species unable to develop with it properly...now that angel's brought it back...or well..did...her body is reacting to it unnaturally. Star thinks Arana is trying to heal herself with the magic internally, which is dangerous to do without proper training...healing magic can only do so much, it can fix wounds and heal bones but diseases are a whole other matter...".
"Is mason-?'.
"Mason offered his garden because plants do a lot of good for healing on mewni, but it's not that simple, the queen is not just suffering from a stiffness...she has memory issues, she's almost in a non functioning mode. I think even if we do cure her...she's never going to fully be how she was...she's going to need a lot of recovery time...there's no magical cure that just fixes everything unfortunately. I just hope we're fast enough to help her before we're too late...she's been like this long enough...".
"King Lucitor...".
"I'm sorry kids, it's a serious situation and we're not sure ourselves how to even respond to it, people have already been struggling to figure out how to save her before this point and...you shouldn't have to see this. Star put her here and got people to look over her but we had so much on our plates we couldn't put enough on her and it's terrifying...there's not a lot we can do it seems...unless we find out something fast to solve this without making it worse.".
"What's mom doing...?", Star tilted her head, looking closer at the scene.
"She's trying to get a better look at her condition...she promised to put a ton of effort into saving this woman's life...if she doesn't do that...well i don't want to imagine that...", Star and Queen Spiderbtie seemed lost in conversation at this point, discussing what to do right now whilst everyone around them was worried and panicking. So much for that nice night of sleep everyone wanted to have after such a complete mess of a day, of course something had to happen.
Queen Lucitor approached Star and they seemed to talk for a bit themselves and soon enough Penelope entered center stage, "Alright everyone, anyone whose not a nurse, doctor, or a king or queen...can you please leave this area? We have to talk and deal with this and we can't have you all here. Please can all of you wait outside?", there was mass discussion but sure enough, some of the crowd were leaving, sunny, mason, judas and sky were escorted to leave, even angel despite his protests.
The guards forcing them out and guarding the doors despite how tired they obviously were.
Surprisingly, nora had been asked to stay, her eyes wandering as the others were shut behind the door.
Almost on instinct, sky reached out for the distressed monster prince, though he was already panicking and screaming to get back inside to see his mom. Then someone else entered the scene, Katrina, she tugged him away from the door, trying to chill him down before he hurt himself. "Spider boy, you have to wait and let them do their job...", but he growled at her, "That's my MOM in there, i should be in there WITH her!". But she sat him down forcibly, "Stay down...".
"I can't stay down that's my-".
"Either you stay down or you might put her at more risk being there...if they need you they'll call you...now STAY", her eyes were practically glowing with how she glared at him. Not to mention how strong she actually was, intimidating the prince as he decided it wasn't worth crossing with her and planting himself firmly on his seat. Katrina seemed relieved to have finally gotten through to him, but she sent him glares as she turned her attention to the others looking at her.
Yeesh, Katrina was scary, sky certainly never wanted to get on her bad side.
Though Judas and Sky definitely seemed to feel bad for him, and if they had the power to, they'd most definitely fight to get him back inside to see her. But all that would earn them was a more serious grounding and possibly just be shut back inside their rooms in general. Angel was most definitely not calm, panicking internally, but sadly he'd half to wait as katrina smiled at the kids. She motioned for them to come up so she could talk to them and sky sighed.
"Katrina I-".
The Frog woman looked to sky and smiled, "Bluebell...good to see you when i'm not tailing purple boy over there...", she gave judas a little wave. " My spy partner has been out doing another mission, i'm sure if she wasn't so busy she'd be here to help out but there's not much i can do on that front...it's tiring enough following you around...". She shot angel a look to make sure he was still sitting before turning back to the duo, "I hope they know what they're doing in there...".
"Yeah...me too..."
"This entire situation is a mess, from head to toe, we got the commission attacking the princess, a masked foe avoiding detection despite all odds, a queen that's horribly sick...and god i never thought i'd see the day the Spiderbites and Arachfords could be in the same room together normally, not to mention helping another survive. This isn't even mentioning all the stuff going down at the monster village, i can barely keep my restaurant open anymore...everyone is scared to leave their homes...".
"Scared to leave their homes?", Judas rubbed at his eyes, katrina'a voice getting softer as she gazed to angel.
"With the Ponyhead prince being..well...you saw him, and angel having worked for her...well...no one wants to end up like them if they can help themselves...though the assassins guild is out there apparently looking for them theirselves...they're gaining a huge bounty for doing so little...". Guess that was a viable reason for anyone to want to stay in their homes, not to mention whenever judas had seen that figure, well...their appearance was chilling.
The white mask.
The dress.
the soulless eyes.
He felt himself shiver on the spot.
Angel had told him he had been worried for him, simply due to his arm, and he had a point. It was bad enough she had loki, what if she had done that to judas? Or anyone who was super powerful? Judas didn't like the implications of what could happen if he got out of control, much less out of control and in the control of someone else who he already knows tried to kill angel, he felt the shocked on his wrist and tried to sooth his mind quickly.
At the time he played it off like maybe angel was worrying too much about something that might not even happen, but it seemed the anxiety had creeped up on him now that the trial was out of the way. It was in the back of his mind, it had been ever since they found out people could be controlled. Though he needed to put it aside, he needed to be strong right now, especially with how one of his friends was dealing with the fate of his mother right now.
Thinking about this too hard got to him fast.
"Any tips on what we could do to get her?", sky suddenly asked, "I mean, you're a master spy right? You've had to catch criminals before?".
"Yeah, but most criminals i get aren't magic, those are always left to the Butterflies and commission, otherwise it might be out of my league, my partner is a lot stronger then i am, those kinda threats are better left for her to take care of then me...". Angel huffed in his seat, batting at tears in his eyes and Katrina quickly took his side and tried to pet him to calm him down, "Honestly we're lucky she didn't take over his body, especially when he was getting stronger...if she got her hands on him while in one of his spider rampages...oof.".
Sky recalled to the outburst he had while training, "You're not wrong...".
"Speaking of which...you holding up there purple?".
Judas was almost taken aback, not answering her at first. But that only made it more obvious something was wrong. Katrine sent a sympathetic smile his way, trying to reassure him, "Hey, don't feel bad you haven't taken the guy out...we've tackled some tough dudes ourselves, some took forever to catch it feels like...if even we have our struggles...you can too. Just have faith in us we'll take care of this before things get any worse..sooner or later...".
Judas huffed, letting it all out, "No...it's not that...i'm...i'm worried what'll happen if i get taken over...personally...i gave sky something to help in case...my entire family has one as well...but...i'm nervous...". Sky started patting his back and Katrina reassured him, "Everyone's anxious about that...but we'll make sure they never get the chance if they are considering it...promise, you're in good hands judas. It's ok to still be scared but you need to stop being terrified of yourself...you're not a bad person jude...".
"I just think about it sometimes...i've had it drilled into my head that i'm dangerous and i can't help but now think...what if someone gets hurt because i lose control of my body? I want to know i'm in control of my body, and that...no one else is or will be..." though his sadness was quickly cut before anyone could respond, "I'm sorry, it's so off topic...we should be worrying about angel and the queen, i...shouldn't be turning this into a conversation about me...".
"Jude...dude...like...you can talk about this if you need to, it clearly matters to you..."., Judas hugged his arms, turning his head from sky.
"No it's ok...for now let's focus on angel...we can worry about this another time...when things are calmer...", judas wasn't trying to be rude but there was no way they could get judas to get into this when he was this upset, they were just going to have to wait. Though it didn't make sky feel any better, she could take pressure off of him but she couldn't make him feel safe in his own skin just by speaking to him and doing some magic or something.
Angel's ears flickered at the talk, he looked like he wanted to say something but stayed quiet.
"Just try to not let this worry you so much...it's our job to protect you...have some faith in us and yourself..." the frog woman smiled at him, patting his shoulder before her compact started to ring. She quickly checked to see who was calling and she almost hopped in surprise, "I better take this...keep an eye on the spider while i'm gone real quick? And don't try and go inside...they'll kill you if i don't.". She headed off down the hall and Mason quickly approached, still in his matching jammies.
He'd probably been waiting for katrina to leave for this exact moment.
He looked more then eager to see his older brother, a smile on his face despite the current situation at hand, though his hair was all over the place. Judas left wondering if his brother had been sleeping upside down on the ceiling again. Regardless, considering how deeply their parents refused to let mason take part in their situation, mason was here, and he yawned as his wings fluttered behind him. Only bumping into the slightest bit of people on his way over.
"Mason...you really shouldn't be here...y'know? It's WAY past your bedtime", he sounded like their parents, but he wasn't wrong either.
"I'm 13...", the small demon said, pouting, batting at his eyes as his wings stretched, he looked like a stubborn child...well, an even more stubborn child. "Besides...you're all still up, I don't see why I can't be here with you guys...sky's only a couple years older then me...I wanted to be here to see If i could help. I said they could find stuff in my garden cause i got a lot of healing plants and magic plants in there and twiler has made all inds of stuff with their ingredients...".
"Mason, you know mom and dad said-".
"I want to help...it's not fair you and landon can help and i can't...just because i'm a kid doesn't mean i can't help out!", mason was still bitter about it and judas couldn't blame him, though he also couldn't agree either since he put him in danger in the first place. He reached out and patted his little brother's head, laughing as the boy batted away his hands, "Mason, you're a smart kid, but...we shouldn't put all this on your shoulders...or get you hurt...".
"I work with the most dangerous plants on mewni, i'm not scared! I easily could've been strangled or eaten or poisoned...all kinds of stuff...but I knew what I was doing...i'm not...stupid or reckless...you make it all sound like I can't be...responsible...". Did Mason really feel like this? Like everyone had thought lesser of him? "I wanna help out my brothers...but no one wants me to...landon didn't want me to help with his crush...you guys don't want me to help with this...I'm good at handling dangerous stuff...I'm not...dumb..".
He wasn't wrong...Mason handled tough stuff more often then most should at his age.
But Judas couldn't risk it.
"Mason...".
"Can't you find some way to let me in?I know mom and dad got mad at you but it wasn't your fault...I wanted to join...it was me! But when i tell them that they still punish you instead and-...", Mason was mad and were those...tears? Mason tended to be a rather chipper young prince, usually making everyone around him happy almost by just being there, he was rarely acting somewhat like a brat. Where he cries or threw temper tantrums, not unless what bothered him was REALLY bothering him.
Like his plants or his brothers.
Judas had to place a finger to his lips to shush his brother before his words got the attention of those around them, ushering mason to the side, "I know you're upset mason, and you have ever right to be upset...but there's nothing I can do...and they're partially right...you're still my younger brother and i...I shouldn't be putting you in danger...if something happens to you it'll be my fault...mason you're tough and competent, but it's out of my hands and you know it...".
"Mom and Dad aren't going to let me...they don't trust me...you trust me...don't you?", he was giving him those brown soft puppy eyes, and it was hard to say no, but judas had to stand his ground. "Well of course i trust you...but...mason this is serious...you know it. Angel...he almost died...you could've witnessed it because of me...". mason was tapping his foot and he still looked upset, but he couldn't argue with judas there, despite how stubborn he was being.
"Mason...why is this so important to you?".
"Because you all see me as a little kid...mom and dad definitely do, they don't trust me to take care of my garden like i used to...and i can't even go in like before...my plants miss me...I just...I'm tired of you all doing all this stuff and leaving me out because i'm 13...sunny's 14 and you let her do all this stuff!". Judas got down on his knees, trying his best to explain this how he could, "Sunny is a powerful magic user...and...you're still my little brother...".
"But..she's our sister...right?".
Judas was slightly taken aback, never hearing mason address sunny as being technically their sister before this point.
"It's not fair and you know it...".
Judas was silent.
"Maybe we can find something for you...but...nothing that puts you in well...the action...ok?", he watched as mason's eyes lit up, his tense shoulder releasing themselves as he wrapping his arms around his brother in a hug, his wings following. "Thank you so much! I promise i'm gonna do a great job! Anything you want, you got me!", it was at least nice to see his brother in a good mood again, smiling and being as giddy as he usually had been.
"Just...don't do anything rash...ok?".
"Nah, not something i like doing...that's more landon's thing...".
Mason hugged the boy tighter, smiling as his wings flapped outwards, nearly hitting some of those around him, "Oh and uh...can i ask you something? I uh...i'm worried i made fae mad...and she doesn't want to talk to me anymore because of it...cause well I was...I just needed someone to talk to and...",He ears seemed to droop, "Is she mad at me? She...". Judas simply blinked at him, landon hadn't gone into too much detail about mason and fae talking to him other then "They did and that's how mason ran into us".
Though his brotherly instincts kicked in quick, looking around for anyone who may of been watching, "Mason...you're allowed to talk about your issues...now maybe fae wasn't the perfect person to talk to, especially since maybe you didn't know each other well when you started...but it's ok to get it out...". He stopped himself, thinking about how he stopped himself from talking about his arm not that long ago, "I don't think fae hates you...but maybe later you both could form a proper friendship soon, by just talking to each other without so much baggage, ok?".
"You think so?".
"Yeah, if you need to talk...talk to me...maybe you could do something nice for fae as a sign you want to be friends for real?".
"Like...flowers?".
"Well...I guess?", though considering what he knew, those flowers might not last long in her hands. The gesture still seemed nice though, mason didn't really have friends of his own all that much and it seemed fae, for whatever reason...was someone he wanted to be friends with. "Mason, just be careful...if she doesn't want to be friends, that's ok too. Don't take it personally if she doesn't want to really hang out...ok? I...I just want you to-".
"Judas...".
"Right, treat you more like an adult, less like a kid...alright...but still...be careful.", mason smile, "Thanks judas!". Judas stood up, ruffling his brother's hair. "It's good to see you smile again mason...i missed seeing it.". Mason's wings fluttered, though he quickly turned around and noticed the down spider currently being comforted by sky. "Is he going to be ok? Maybe you should go over there and...make him feel a little better? He seems happier with you around...".
"Angel doesn't have a lot of people looking out for him...at least not in terms of friends...i hope me and sky can make whatever might happen easier for him.".
Though he seemed unsure, it was clear he didn't want to admit it.
Would Angel really be ok? Sure, they sorta seemed to cheer him up, but...if things went south, there was no telling what would happen from there.
Mason nodded towards him, "You should talk to him, he'd appreciate it...ok?".
"I'll see you later mason? Ok?".
Mason smiled wider, "I'll see you later!".
He was quickly ushered off by a guard, insisting he return to bed immediately as judas's attention was returned to his friends. Though he was quickly stopped however, as the door opened behind him, Queen Star coming out and getting everyone's attention, the guard even stopping so mason could listen. "Alright everyone, the scare is over...the queen is still breathing, she's still alive...Queen Spiderbite is looking into solutions more heavily...though there is some feeling back into her body it seems...".
"There is?", Angel looked up from his pouting mess as Star coughing into her fist, "Well i mean, she sorta kinda bursted with magical energy cause you meddled on magic so much for your species, well that and...she's in butterfly castle...one of the biggest places she could get some magical exposure...especially if she were around a butterfly so often...". Sky felt eyes placed on her, and she wasn't really sure how to react, though her mom quickly moved on.
"Anyways, her magic growth seems to be almost healing her...though not from us, we think she's using it to try to heal herself...unconsciously...however there's still work to be done...she's not a professional magic user and can't do it herself...she needs some more real treatments to help and something to help her memories...if we're going to save her we might have to go inside well...her mind to find the problem. Well actually. I have to go in her mind...".
"In her mind?", something about that seemed to disgust sky, not really wanting to know where this was going.
"I've done it before in my mind, it's not THAT bad...besides...it's worth a look...", angel stoood up though, eyes darting at her, "When are you going? We can't waste anymore time on this, if there's a way to help you can't waste time...". But the queen was way ahead of him, "Which is why i'm going right now...i'm not sure if I can do anything...but it's worth a try to see what might be affecting her...especially memory wise...magic can't solve everything...sadly...".
"Thanks...".
Star smiled at Angel before heading back inside, the spider prince's eyes lingering on the door with hope.
"I think mom's grown kinda fond of you since you..well...yeah", Sky said, not really looking at Angel, "Honestly, the fact you kinda changed her mind at all is pretty impressive...". The prince watched as the crowd started to disperse a little, katrina still talking on her compact nearby. "I'm not leaving this spot till she gets back...I want to hear the results...", he took a seat nearby and judas and sky took his sides, keeping to themselves mostly as sunny, galexia, and celeste sat around then, talking on occasion.
Mason having already been sent back to bed.
Katrina was finished awhile later, looking tired as she rubbed her temple.
"Sorry about that...it took longer then i thought it would...turns out my partner's mission ain't going as well as expected...ugh what a mess...", she looked over the kids there before forming a puzzling expression, "Hey, Prince Landon didn't show up did he? All of you arrived...but not him?". Celeste could only grumble, "Hey, i'm not his alarm system...I kinda had to see what the commotion was about! Whether he kinda shows up or sleeps in is up to him...".
"Hmm...i'm going to check up on him...".
She motioned for a guard nearby to watch the kids as she headed down the hall, time further passed as angel stared at the door, hard. He was waiting for anything to come back, sky was partially upset she wasn't going to see what her mom was seeing, but then again going into someone's mind was really only good for one person, the more people in the mind, the faster the mind starts getting wonky. Minds just weren't made to hold a bunch of people inside of it frankly.
And after yesterday, her hype on anything that involved her possibly dying was pretty much something she wanted little to do with for the time being.
"Couldn't give us a night of sleep...", she mumbled, rubbing at her face and yawning, "We had to go right into more issues...". Though at the same time she felt slightly at fault, "Ugh...i know constant exposure to magic and magical people has an effect on mewmans and fellow magical creatures sometimes...but i never saw this coming!". But Angel nodded to himself, "I did...well..not exactly this but...when magic started slowly returning thanks to...her, all my kind could feel something different even if they didn't know why...but...I didn't want my dad to find out what i was doing...so i kept it to a minimum so maybe he wouldn't suspect anything...or at least, I asked for it to slowly return so it felt natural".
"You didn't expose your parents to it?".
"I'm not stupid...i wanted to make things easier but not by the flick of a switch...i wanted it to gradually make an impact...I didn't want anyone to know what i was doing...we don't just lack spells, we lack practice...and the access to learn...we're not as strong as we used to be so long ago. Mom had never been exposed to such power until i started that plan and well...she ended up here...but because she's...it's affecting her different...she's trying to help herself without experience...".
"Can you heal? Like your species I mean?", Celeste grumbled, motioning to her disguised wand.
"Yes...well..with wounds at least...not that it's easy...we used to do it i think...healing is easier said then done...if you screw up, you make it worse...it's why...It scares me what mom might do if she's using magic unconsciously...". The group around them seemed surprised Celeste spoke up at all considering her reputation, though there seemed to be a line of worry over her face she couldn't hide. Even behind that grumpy face, she did have a heart.
"I'm...big on healing magic...", she mumbled, "Not something i really wanted to be...but...I...well...I got into fights...a lot...and...learning magic just helped...hiding the bruises...it's...not easy to learn...sometimes nothing happens and something it just makes it hurt more...it hurts to watch...watching her try and fix herself like that...she really wants to...feel better...". Was celeste starting to cry a little? Hard as ice celeste? She wiped at her eyes.
She noticed everyone looking at her funny and she turned away, going back to her usual self and hiding her face.
"I...don't like seeing people in pain...", she seemed to be struggling to keep herself together, her arms shaking a little.
Angel was distressed but a small smile was on the corner of his lips, "She's fighting back...to see me and dad and again...".
He seemed touched despite everything, even if he was worried it was clear his mother was trying to save herself for a reason despite her weak state. Though then again it was also entirely possible she didn't know what she was doing and her body was doing it instinctively. Though whether that was the case of it was the other reason it was terrifying and made his heart jump, though the teens around him were going out of their way to ease him wherever they could.
Sky especially.
"She really loves you...".
Now it was angel's turn to cry, but more of joy then sadness this time.
"Yeah...yeah she does...".
Star suddenly then burst through the door, breathing heavily as Janna and Queen Spiderbite followed after, "Angel! We need you in here!". The queen didn't even hesitate as she grabbed the boy by the arm and tugged him out of his seat. The boy himself bewildered as he was tugged inside the room, Sky quick to follow after him before anyone could stop her, the guards failing to grab her in time before she ran inside to see what was going on. The sick queen didn't look any different then when they last saw her, but Star quickly placed angel next to her, placing his mother's hand in his.
"Talk to her."
"I'm sorry...what?", the boy's face looked utterly puzzled, but Star seemed frantic and tried her best to get herself together and not lose her patience.
"Her memories are super fuzzy...like SUPER fuzzy...I need someone she knows to try and jog her memory a little if possible, and you're the closest...your father says she reacts to you on occasion while in this state...so maybe...", the prince seemed to see where she was going with this, though he always welt up being around his mom, and looking at her face. It was so hard to look at her like this, and he ended up gripping her hand with his two now.
"Mom...can you hear me?".
Star quickly laid down on the far end of the wing, placing a hand to her head and whispering something, which sky could only assume was whatever spell she was suing to enter the monster's mind as the sick queen's forehead started to light up. Jeez, her mom really was stressing out to fix this mess wasn't she? Sky looked over to see Angel busy with his mom as she approached her own to see if she was ok, her mom was transferring her subconscious into Arana's and that alone was pretty risky and as her cheeks lit up, sky could suddenly feel her own start to light up as well.
"Princess Butterfly!", Suddenly one of the nurses noticed Sky near the queen and before Sky could react, she found herself...in the spiderbite forest?
Well, it looked like the forest, but also not the forest, there were things around there that shouldn't be there. Like certain homes, trinkets, picnic basket, and it felt sky puzzled until she noticed a photo on the ground of a familiar spider monster...as a small baby. She could hear her mom screaming nearby, and sky noticed some elements turning whiter and fuzzy before becoming normal again, as if the world was on the verge of collapsing on itself.
"I'm in arana's mind...oh nooooo", she must've somehow gotten pulled in herself and that was not good at all. She only intended to make sure her mom was alright, she didn't plan to go inside the mind of the queen next to her. It happened so fast, as if sky had walked into another room, she was there and now she was...here. Or at least, her subconscious was here, and the only way she could get out was to find the spellcaster to let her out before things got worse.
She had to find her mom, fast.
"MOM!", she called out, running through the forest of the queen's memories...the place was jumbled with different elements from different memories, was this how most minds were on the inside? Jumbled and confused? Though as Sky roamed through the world and called out to her mom, she could hear angel's voice, his voice...well it seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. It echoed throughout the world, the boy talking to his mother with some difficulty.
"I'm sorry mom...sky...um...she collapsed on the floor just now...she's my friend...I hope you get to meet her soon.".
Collapsed huh? Guess it figures that's what would happen to her body, it must've literally fallen to the floor while her mind transferred. She could only imagine how shocking that'd be for angel, and just hoped he was focusing at the task at hand and hadn't lost focus. Hopefully at the very least someone moved her body off the floor, last thing she needed was to find her body on the hard and cold floor as soon as she woke up from this complete mess.
She called out louder this time, the memories around her getting hazy and then reappearing, sometimes the world even seemed to be teleporting, things moving from one place to another. It was a surreal experience, like time and space was moving and changing constantly around her while almost not changing at all. Though she really couldn't take the time to admire it, wondering where her mom was in all of this, though a voice made her pause.
Turning to spot a rather young child, perhaps 6, playing alone.
And if the legs weren't a dead giveaway, his tiny nervous expression was.
A child Angel.
He was by his lonesome, playing with some toys in front of him at what looked like a picnic of all things. Was this a memory where angel was actually alone? Or was his mother supposed to be here with him and was elsewhere for the time being? Regardless, he looked a little nervous and scared being alone, and sky was left wondering if he knew he was a memory or even if he was bothered by any of the things happening around him in this strange mind world.
"Hello?", can memories of people react to her in here? Or did they stay in their respective memories? Though the fact the boy looked up at her signified that yes, it seemed he could hear her. Though seeing a tiny child angel and hearing his voice throughout this world, talking to his mom was only adding to the strangeness of the situation. "Uh...hi? I'm uh...looking for my mom, it's very important...she's blonde, probably has her hair in buns...blue eyes?".
The child seemed to gap at her, Sky wondered if he recognized her as well...herself, but a lot older looking.
She forgot how shy Angel was as a kid, always gaping close to his mother. Not like the moody teen she knew him more as, he looked too nervous to even talk to her. She it her lip as she got on one knee, she needed to find her mom before things got worse and tiny memory angel was her best bet right now. "Heya...I uh...I lost my mom, we got separated on accident...I could really use your help...to find her. You uh...you really love your momma right?".
The child's ears flicked, surprisingly, this memory of angel was not suffering like some of the other memories were on occasion. He simply nodded a little at Sky and she held out her hand, "I'm...Sky...we're uh...it's going to be ok...we're going to be good friends...I mean i'm sure the memory of me you have know you probably think of me more as a small girl who tags around judas a lot...but...right now? We're friends...strange ones...but...i'm here for you...ok?".
The boy blinked at her, "Skyler butterfly?".
So he did recognize her; Was that good or bad under these circumstances? Either way if she wanted out of her she needed to make sure she didn't scare him off and gained his trust. She bent down to his level, trying her best smile and did her best to not freak him out during what almost looked like the end of the world around them to a degree. God judas was so much better with kids then she was, but for now she'd just have to make the young boy feel as secure as she could.
"Yeah...me, if..you help me find my mom..i'll help you find yours...is that ok?".
He looked to her and her hand before nodding and reaching out, wow...he was solid, he felt really there.
They stood up together and Sky almost seemed delighted to see the young child trust her, though who knows if the real angel at this age would've done so or not. This was a memory after all, and it could be shaped by the mother's mind, but regardless...sky felt a sense of relief. The young monster took the lead, walking around and holding onto her hand rather tight, his favorite toy under one of his arms, using his much smaller spider legs to go a little faster as she caught up with him.
This place was endless, in fact it probably did go on forever considering it was someone's mind rather then an actual land. It's almost constant changing of even the smallest details would make it almost impossible to navigate through and who knows where he mother went. Though Sky could still hear her Angel talking to his mother, his voice still coming through, though the child didn't really pay it no mind, more interested in the task at hand then that.
That or...maybe he just couldn't tell there was anything wrong like Sky could.
Though soon enough, she could hear someone else in the near distance, egging the child to lead her to whoever that was, whether it was her mom or not, she needed to find out for sure.
The boy led her through the memories, before showing Sky a clearing and sure enough, her mom was there. Digging around for what she was looking for, though it seemed their sudden appearance startled her, the queen nearly blasting them before stopping herself. "Oh jeez...more memories...wait...why would my daughter be interacting with the memory of a child angel...?", she was going to be in trouble but granted this one wasn't entirely her fault.
Then the queen seemed to come to a realization rather fast, "Wait...memories of you two from different time periods interacting? That wouldn't happen unless...you're not a memory are you...". She looked at Sky with surprise and frustration, her eyes looking at her to the boy next to her. Before looking around the memory world, as if to check and see if it was doing any worse then when she first arrived in it not that long ago. Then looked back at her daughter's apologetic face.
"So...yeah...I might of ended up joining you...sorry...I was just trying to check on you and then I just popped in...not like I was supposed to know i could get sucked in by just being NEAR you!".
"Sky! I separated myself for a reason! If you get in proximity of me you would end up sent with me and...actually I didn't warn you about that did i? Ok ok, fine fine...we'll just send you out of here real quick before it gets any worse and...hold up...". The Queen took a closer look at the tiny child version of the prince who was still speaking to his mother on the other side, "He's...not glitching like the other memories here...he's...physical...he's the most intact memory i've seen so far...".
Sky looked over to the child angel, who was tilting his head up at both of them.
He was rather stable, stable enough that she could hold his hand right now, though at the time she didn't really question it, she was just looking for help and he was the only memory she could speak to for the time being.
"I did think it was weird he seemed entirely normal compared to a lot of the other stuff in here...is that good?", Star smiled, "I think he's exactly what i needed, thanks hun...". Though she looked excited, the small memory child didn't, backing away and hiding behind sky in fear, surprising Star. "Er...mom...mind telling me exactly what you need him for? I mean, he's a memory of angel but he's still technically a kid and we probably don't wanna y'know...hurt him".
"No no no, nothing like that...but with a solid memory like him, maybe we could stabilize the others!".
"Stabilize? Mom, what's happening in here exactly?".
But Star wasn't paying much attention, "Just stay close...maybe with two magic users we'll be more effective...but we have to do it soon because it's bad enough having one here, having two in here is too much for the mind...and don't lose the boy...". Sky kept a close grip on the boy as her mom started digging through the bushes of the memory forest, Sky completely puzzled in what she was doing. Did her mom find out what they could do to cure her memory loss?
Or was this an experiment?
Yeah her mom fixed stuff on the fly before but this time Sky was here to see it and it was a little more...personal to her.
Especially as she felt the boy clutch close to her.
"Mom...hey...maybe I should leave...like now...well, after i find his mom...I kinda promised...it's her mind so i'm sure there's a memory of her around here somewhere...", she looked around the area but Star wagged her finger, "No no no, we don't have time...don't worry dear, your mom has done crazier stuff then this, the fact he's stable means despite the memory loss...she has a clear memory of her son...even if it is him as a little boy...i think with him we might be able to use magic and stablize her memories more...it might not fix everything...but it'll make sure she holds on a lot longer...the spiderbites on the other side are seeing if they can work out a better healing solution for her body...they thought it best I worked on the mind...".
"Mom...I mean like, you sure?".
"I have to try...right? It's my job as queen and...I failed them...I can't fail them any further...".
Then she paused, "I promise the boy will be ok, we're only spreading his stability, it shouldn't hurt him...just because I know you'd care if it did." It did seem to reassure Sky though paused, it was the first time they had a proper one on one since well...everything blew up, and the tension as still there. She wondered what her mom was thinking about all this, what she had questions about, if she had her own suspicions she wasn't telling sky or anyone for that matter.
"It seems like you're changed your mind a lot on stuff...since everything happened...".
Sky stood there as Star turned around to face her.
"We...have a lot to talk about...when this is over...don't we?"
"Yeah...We do...".
"Y'know...for the record...you and judas really have had an effect on that boy, he used to be so spoiled, going on about wanting to travel back and time and fixing things and talking more princely and fancy and calling his mom and dad "Mother and Father"...now...he's dressed like more of a normal kid...he's less mean...he's more...like you. I'm honestly not sure how we got to this point but...i'm impressed you really...did have an affect on him", sky looked to the kid and nodded.
"Well...I think the truth is...angel was probably putting up a facade to mask how he really felt...and the more time he spent around us the more that mask wore off...he seems a lot less of a jerk and just...a sad kid whose desperate to make things right. And honestly...me and judas were kinda mean to him too...for awhile...we...all had some growing up to do...and I think we still do...I mean...I did taze him and...now...I...really don't use the tazer at all...I think a lot has happened...since that ball...".
"I would imagine so...but for the record...I think i had a little growing up to do as well...that maybe I was also too harsh...I spent years fixing everyone's problems skyler...it was a lot of pressure for me...it still is...even now...I...I'm a little tired I guess...of feeling like I have to fix everything our ancestors did...and judas told me once...that maybe it was wrong of me to be putting a bunch on you and i called him out for it. But...he's right...you shouldn't have to go through the stuff I did sky...i'm going to help see if I can fix this...and...I want...to make up for well...being such a brat...".
"Maybe we outta save this for after we somewhat help?", sky nodded to the world around them, phasing in and out and more rapidly then usual.
"Right...good...lil angel? may i take your hand?".
The older woman reached out for the small memory boy, and sky nodded to him to say it was ok. Angel carefully placed his palm on star's hand, Sky taking the other. "Now dear...this won't hurt him at all, promise...we'll talk more on what I found when we get out of here...for now...just repeat after me...if we do this correctly...then we might be able to stabilize her mind for the time being and keep her memories clearer and more intact. Just like he is...ok?"
"You think she might be able to talk to us if we do?".
"It's a possibility...".
Sky took a deep breath, reassuring the memory next to her as her mother looked to her with trusting eyes.
"Memory Lost, Memory gain, spread the thought, remove the pain", Star chanted, Sky encouraged to chant along with her. She felt the boy grip their hands tighter as they began chanting, and Sky desperately hoped her mom knew what she was doing. If luna were here maybe she'd know what to do, especially with he uncomfortable knowledge of memory charms , but all she could do was trust her mom knew what she was doing before things got messy.
And sure enough, the boy next to them seemed to be glowing, the glow spreading from him to the world around them.
The memories the glow touched, even if it was a small amount, were starting to stop their bugging out, becoming more solid memories. The trees looked like solid trees, items stayed in place, everything seemed to almost reach a state of normally. Almost, it was still a jumble of memories after all, but at least things were not fazing in and out like a broken television. The boy himself seemed almost clam and relaxed, he felt somehow safe with them watching over him.
It...was working, even if it was slight.
Sky was feeling a little out of breath as she felt the boy's hands tug away from her, almost falling to the ground as she mom stood her up and looked at the work around them. "He must be a strong memory to help repair so much...if only it wasn't temporary...but still, it's better then nothing...", Sky blinked and tried to get herself together before another figure walked into the scene, the little boy running over to see them. Leaving the two Butterflys behind to hug the mysterious figure.
"What...who?", sky rubbed her eyes and tried to get a closer look, the figure coming more into shape.
It was Arana herself as a memory, easily grabbing her son and holding him close to her. She was so young and so...beautiful, she didn't look ill or weak or anything. Her hair done, as light pink as ever, all her legs functional, her pink face and marking as natural as ever. Her white dotted eyes had so much life into them, like the queen Sky remembered from all those past balls and dances when they were all really young kids. She held onto her tiny son lovingly and it made sky stop in her tracks.
It looked so sweet and tender , but it also felt sad.
Star noticed before an aura spawned on her palm, "We better go...before things get worse with us here...".
"Wait!", Sky said quickly, removing herself from her mom to run over to the mother and son, the memory woman stopped for her, her smile seeming thankful. "Queen Arana...i know you're just a memory but can you tell me...anything...of how to help you? You're sick and having a hard time functioning and no one knows how to help you and...your son...he wants you back...". The Queen seemed to blink at her in surprise, and Sky wondered if this was a bad idea.
This could be a memory of her years ago and therefore she'd have no idea what sky was talking about whatsoever.
But then, she smiled and for the first time in a long while, she spoke, "All i need is him...and I need you to keep him strong...". She held the boy close to her, "Tell him when you get back out there...that I love him so much...".
"If-no...When you get back out there...you can tell him yourself", Sky said back, "And don't worry...I will...and you'll see that when you see him again...".
She felt her mother run up behind her and touch her shoulder and everything went white.
She found herself waking up in a bed, she had been most likely moved here after she collapsed and as she sat up angel turned to look at her. He'd clearly been worried despite spending the situation mostly speaking to his mother, though sky gave him a reassuring smile. Her mom woke up shortly, and before everyone could properly thinking about what happened...the unconscious queen moved a little. Her mouth coughing before she finally said something.
"Angel...".
This seemed to even freak out Queen Spiderbite, who looked to the Mewman queen in disbelief.
Angel started to cry, tears leaking from all of his eyes.
"I think there's something more to this illness then meets the eye...we've been thinking about it purely as like...one of those regular sicknesses mewmans get, and I think we've been thinking about it all wrong", Star said, "We...had to stabilize her memories before they blinked out of her mind, but that's not just it...she can't...get her mind and body to work together properly, it's hard for her to speak or move or do much of anything like she used to...she's strong and trying to push through it but she seems to lack control of her own body...at least, for the most part...I think what's making her sick might be a mind parasite...".
"Mind parasite?".
The mere mention of it sent shivers down everyone's spine, Star speaking rather gravely, more serious then she had ever been.
"Magical things, rare to run into...when they go through your skin and infect you they attempt to take over your body by killing the mind and soul...but it's a lengthy process and i think Arana has been fighting back so much it's been unable to finish it's goal...and making her weaker...the best way to cure it is to draw the bug out and then see if we can repair her and help her properly heal from there...the real question is how she came into contact with one of those in the first place...".
"I know how!", Suddenly in a burst of energy, Jackie came into the room, covered in liquid magic and pudding cups dropping from her armor, "Your majesty! One of the missions I was out taking care of awhile back involved tracking down some illegal items being sold between dimensions...Mind Parasites were one of them...they don't traditionally come from mewni, they come from another dimension...they're typically sold as a way to infect and kill off enemies in a subtle way...especially since it can easily hide itself as an illness...".
Star seemed more then welcome for Jackie to return, giving her a large hug, "JACKIE! Oh god this mess has been so bad I completely forgot to brush on all the stuff you got into on your missions! Everything's been such a hassle but i'm so glad you're ok! ". Star looked over the queen, who wasn't speaking, but looked at least a smidge better then she did an hour ago, "We need to find a way to draw that bug out...and soon...Penelo-". Queen Spiderbite stepped forward, raising a hand to quite the queen, "I know...but...I think i might have an assistant on that...".
Nora stepped forward, still in shock of her mother actually allowing her to assist her on this matter, coughing into her hand and trying to keep eye contact and resist covering her face.
"I...in my research...I did notice her actions did seem a little more strange then usual illnesses I ran into...I uh...well...I talked to angel a lot while we were in here together...and well...his kind likes to eat bugs...it's a major part of their usual diet in their kingdom. I think it's entirely reasonable the queen ended up with one being served to her and because it's not from here...she didn't know what it was...and it entered her and slowly took her over...making her sick...".
"How much have you had on finding a cure?".
"Well..I didn't know about the parasite until just now...I thought i was looking at it as a natural illness...but as an illness provoked by a living thing...that explains why i was having such a hard time trying to get my notes in order and why things didn't entirely line up...she's still sick but the sickness has a clear source and has affects on her that i couldn't explain before...If I could learn more about those things...if that is what's happening...we might be able to figure out what to do soon...".
"Perfect...Queen Spiderbite?".
The mewman queen sighed, pinching her nose, "It does explain a lot frankly...I was trying a few safe remedies on her and some results were not working...not to mention even my notes were jumbled and trying to come up with a solution with the tools we had seems harder then usual...but if there is something in her making her sick...we can draw it out...and then see what we can do from there...most likely her body would still be affected regardless...we...have work to do...".
"As long as we have some time...and I think we might...as long as she holds in there...".
Angel took his mom's hand as people started to clear out a little, Queen Spiderbite leaving, then Jackie, followed by Queen Star to speak to her and get her updates...then Queen and King Lucitor who had been watching over the situation, and as the adults headed out, judas and the others were let more back in. Nora luckily was still allowed to be here, to monitor further spread on Queen Arana, and Judas looked more then relieved at the sight of them.
"I heard...you guys might have a solution...?"
"We might...", it was still a theory on the matter, they needed to try drawing it out to prove it for sure, but it was still something.
"That's...fantastic...", Judas seemed to be letting out air from his body he never knew he had, going in for the hug, "After you went in I tried to go in but they refused...I was worried when you didn't get sent back out...but you...I hear you were amazing...!". Sky snickered, face red, "Oh nah...I just did what i normally did, stumble into stuff by accident...I had no idea that memory of angel would do anything I just...wanted some help..that's all..".
"You and your mom worked together!", he sounded so excited, and super proud as well.
"Yeah...I guess we did...", now that she thought about it, her and her mom worked together to save someone, and her mom let her help, it was...hard for sky to explain how she felt about that after so much rejection before.
Judas hugged her for a little longer before tapping her shoulder, "Someone wants to speak to you". Sky quickly turned to see Angel, and he was...smiling, he'd been looking for hope for so long and had been losing it for so long, and he'd never been so hopeful before in his entire life. He looked like he was about ready to kiss her he looked so happy, though he seemed to manage to pull himself together just enough to ask her something. "Did...you meet her in there...at all? Did she have anything to say?".
"Well...she wants you to be strong for her and well...let's save the rest so she can tell you herself when she properly is able to...", Sky felt herself smile, "But then again, I think you probably have a good idea what she said...don't you?".
Angel nodded, smiling affectionately, "Yeah, yeah I do.".
"KIDS!", The door burst open for what felt like the 7th time that day, Katrina back, with Landon in tow. At first scaring everyone in the room before crossing her arms and putting landon out front, "Found Pink over here covered in magic...". Landon huffed, rubbing his arm, "I didn't GO anywhere...I swear! I just wanted to check out what Star and Jackie found when they got back and well...look at it myself! It's not my fault the stuff was covered in this junk!".
Sure enough, looking the boy over he had remains of magic on his person, he almost looked as if he had swam in the stuff. Judas looked a little worried, sky looked confused, and most of the rest seemed to follow in her footsteps. Though landon himself seemed embarrassed to have been caught and outed like this in front of everyone, it was like he was a troublesome teenager and these were all his parents looking down on him with disappointment.
"Landon...what happened?".
Celeste crossed her arms and tapped her fingers, shooting the boy a knowing glare which he responded with his own irritated expression.
"Look, I only went to look at their research and what they found, everyone left so I thought it was a good chance...that's it! I almost got away with it too...until she caught me going back into my room...", he snorted as Katrina shook her head in disappointment, "You're not supposed to handle that stuff...magic is dangerous enough when you use it...getting covered in the stuff can have affects on you if you're not careful...tis not the time to be snooping around pinky.".
"I was just trying to find out what they had so I could y'know...get closer to solving this? I wanted to be the first to look at it...", everyone was sending him looks but what did they expect? He'd already been investigating on his own before this point, was it really that weird now? For all he knew their parents might not have said squat, so he took advantage of the situation to get a look. What was so weird about that? Well, it seemed to weird out the rest of the group.
Or at least, the fact he did this without them, on his own, just annoyed them.
"Landon...".
"What? I was just helping...".
Judas shook his head, "We'll talk later...for now...we all should try and get some needed rest after well...what happened...we're all tired and we all need some energy...". That at least was something everyone could agree on, Katrina watching the door as the kids, Sunny, Celeste, Landon, and Galexia included...found a place to rest nearby. It almost felt as if Katrina was putting everyone into a nap time, as if it were preschool, despite it being clear landon sure didn't want to be here.
Especially with how Judas and Celeste were looking at him specifically right now.
Judas turned to get some proper rest after such a long day, choosing to confront him about it more after they've slept, though Celeste was more then awake by the looks of it. Everyone snuggling under their covers nearby, exhausted, with Celeste looking at landon as if he were a disobedient child. There was no way she was going to sleep like this and neither was he, he crossed his arms and eyed the floor in front of them, not even looking at his friend/kinda sister.
"I didn't break our agreement...", he muttered under his breath, "It wasn't dangerous or anything...I was just looking...". Celeste grumbled but didn't argue further, he wasn't wrong, he didn't break their agreement so she technically had little to be mad at him about. Though perhaps the reason the girl was annoyed had less to do with their agreement and more to do with him going without her. However for now she just tired headed to a nearby mattress to rest, thankful this wing was rather empty.
Mostly to keep the queen safe, but still, better they didn't have a wing full of other people to worry about.
Though it was a little hard to sleep for some.
Angel for one, as he sat at his mother's bed, no desire to sleep after the events of tonight. And despite sleeping through the action, Sky joined him after, not taking a chance she'd sleep through something like that again. The last couple mostly being Landon...and Celeste, Celeste glaring at him as if he told her something terrible. He kept to himself, trying to sleep, but with little luck, sitting up and mumbling. "It's not a big deal ok? I...I just wanted to look, to feel useful...".
Celeste continued to grumble, her normal pouty mood more sour then usual.
"I don't get why you're still mad...I didn't go against our promises...it would help if you just came out with it...instead of boxing yourself up like you always do...", she didn't answer though and he tugged on the blanket. "Look...i'm sorry I went without you...there was no time to ask for help...this just...I just want to be useful...". He peered around to see if anyone was listening in before speaking, "Of course this still matters to me...I...I can't help it...".
"I don't care that you didn't take me...I just think...you don't need to prove yourself to anyone...and need to go on some epic chase and hunt to find yourself...you think so little of yourself...that you feel the need to do all this crazy stuff...I...wanted to help to get home and stuff but I can't tell if you care more about getting me home...or being better then your brother...It feels like no matter what people tell you...whatever advice they give...you just ignore it.". Landon hissed, "Well I can't tell if you even want to go back...you seem to hate your home every time you talk about it...".
"Of course I hate it...going back home...isn't...fun...but...I...I have someone...I need to go back to...".
"For...real?".
"Yeah...".
"Are-".
"Go to sleep landon...".
Celeste pulled the covers over herself, blocking the demon out as he laid back down, thinking to himself.
He clutched at the covers under him, was he really taking this whole thing too far? Trying to solve this whole thing before anyone else can?
Angel ears flickered in curiosity at their conversation, but his main focus was on his mother, though sky's company was appreciated as well. She was probably still upset with him but at the same time, she still wanted to be by his side and there was no denying she cared deeply for him despite it. His hands twiddling as he looked at his mother as if expecting her to wake up any minute now, his eyes glancing to his companion who was watching next to him.
"Thank you...for helping...".
"Kinda couldn't do it without you...funny enough...so i guess in the end maybe you really will save her yourself...", Sky yawned, but she was clearly happy to be there, mind thinking about all the chaos that just happened.
"Really?", he seemed surprised, and rather curious, his ears flickering and somehow...he seemed touched even if he didn't know exactly what he did.
"Weirdly...yeah...you did actually help...", she simply shrugged, but gave the boy a pat on the back, "I guess if this works...then in the end, it wasn't all for nothing...you really did end up helping her."
They sat in silence next to each other, legs swinging off the side of the mattress, though the situation at hand raised on particular question.
"Sky...if mother...mom...really was...infected by a mind parasite...was it an accident...or do you think...someone sent it after her on purpose?".
It was a fair question, especially since that was what the bugs were typically used for...attacking their enemies subtly. Did someone have a reason to target the queen? Or was it really an accident? There was no telling at this point, they could only really focus on saving the woman for now. They'd had to worry about how it happened later, Though for now sky focused her attention to Angel, who had so much hope in his eyes that he was almost a different person.
"I'm not sure...it could be both...but...i'm sure we'll figure it out...", she reassured him with some pats on his hand, though he seemed skeptic, if only because who could say for sure what may or may not have happened. Regardless, his father would have quite a bit of a panic when the news would come in about this mess. Both scared and possibly even joyful, though for now sky just hoped they could remain thinking abut the good news then the terrifying bad news.
"Thank you...Skyler...".She nodded, smiling, looking at him before back to his resting mother.
Content being at his side after the mess they both had got into in the last 24 hrs, if they were ever going to get through this, they needed to work together. Though judging by their expressions, they didn't mind that all that much.
"You're welcome...Angelus".

CH2-Found You

Found You
Now there was no reason for anyone to come up to Eclipsa and accuse her of being lost. No, no, being lost was when you had no idea where you were. She knew very well she was in the Forest of Unlikely Spiderbites. She just wasn’t sure where in the forest she was. In her defense, she had every intention of playing where the adults were, but as it turned out a strange insect that she had never seen before crossed her path. It looked like a dragonfly with two heads. She had to follow it, of course. If she didn’t, there was a good chance she would spend the rest of her life wondering if she had been seeing things. She just needed to get one quick peak and then she would return where it was safe.
Well, the little scamp had forced quite a chase out of her before shifting from a horizontal flight to a vertical one. That was quite unfair. How was she supposed to get a good look now? As much as the princess didn’t like to give up, she couldn’t figure out a way to continue her pursuit. She supposed the only choice she had left was to return where she came from.
This is how she came to the unfortunate realization she wasn’t sure which direction she had come from.
Eclipsa wasn’t scared though. Her mother had taught her what to do should she ever lose her way. All she needed to do was find a river and follow it to the nearest village. All rivers lead to civilization. So she took a moment to listen keenly for the sound of running water and then went on her way.
She definitely hadn’t been in this part of the forest before, but it was nothing to be concerned about. If she was going to be queen one day, she needed to get a thorough look at the homes of her allies anyway. In a way, she supposed this unexpected trail was a bit of a blessing.
Eventually she came cross the river she had been seeking, causing her to smile brightly. Honestly, if the result wouldn’t be her immediate grounding, Eclipsa wished her mother could know about this and see how she had utilized her mother’s survival skills in order to find her way. Now all she had to do was stick beside it and find a Mewman village.
At least, that’s what she had been planning to do.
Before we continue, let’s talk about theory ironically enough named the Butterfly Effect. This theory revolves around the belief that every miniscule decision or action you go through sets your fate in motion. Change even the slightest detail, and your fate will be altered. The most common used example for this theory is the idea that something as minimal as a butterfly beating its wings can have the surprising influence of the details of future tornado.
Why bring this up? Because as it just so happens, one little object—a pebble to be precise—just so happened to be resting in the princesses’ path without her knowing. Because of this, the girl found herself not walking along the bank of the river, but rather falling straight into it.
And honestly, who knows how her life would’ve turned out if she hadn’t.
Eclipsa didn’t even have the chance to yell before she was suddenly underwater, staring into a few dozen pairs of fish eyes. She had come face-to-face with full fishing net. Pure survival instincts had her clawing on the net, wanting to catch herself before she was swept through the current. In a desperate attempt to regain her footing, she wound up accidentally tearing a hole through the net. This caused the captured fish to charge for their freedom, overwhelming Eclipsa and forcing her to lose her grip on the net. She frantically tried to reach for it again, but all she did was manage to get hit in the face with fleeing fish.
Now genuine fear was starting to rise in the usually unflinching child. She couldn’t get a hold of herself. She was going to run out of air. What was she going to do?!
Well apparently, she was going to be suddenly yanked out of the water and then, before she even had time to process what happened, she would be tossed aside like a broken sword. Because that’s exactly what wound up happening.
Eclipsa felt her mauve eyes roll in their sockets as she struggled to process what just happened. Well, at least she was above water. Her body shook as heavy coughs racked through her body. She hacked and sputtered a few times before she slowly managed to sit up from her discarded position. She was surprised to see a head of….light pink….hair leaning over the bank of the river.
“No! No, no, my fish! My fish! I can’t lose them! I need those!”
Eclipsa opened her mouth to speak when something suddenly caught her eye. A small gasp escaped her once she realized the kid had a long tail frantically moving back and forth behind him. It was too fluffy to be a Lucitor tail. So that meant that….
Another gasp escaped her as the boy suddenly turned, his four eyes flashing angrily. “What the heck? Do you have any idea what that-“
He paused once he reached the same realization she had. He was not talking to a fellow monster.
She hadn’t been rescued by a fellow Mewman.
They were two completely different species, meeting each other in person. Two species that were locked in a long, bloody war. Two members of the newest generation.
The monster was the first to break the trance. His eyes were livid as he quickly pulled a dagger out of his hilt. He took a fighting stance, getting ready to pounce at when the moment was right. “M-Mewman! You’re a Mewman! How dare you enter monster territory?!”
Eclipsa was so stunned by the fact that she was facing a monster face-to-face for the first time, she barely acknowledged the weapon the other was now wielding. She blinked a few times as she began to process what it was the boy was telling her. “Wait….huh? What are you talking about? This is the Forest of Unlikely Spiderbites. That’s Mewman territory last time I checked.”
The monster narrowed his eyes, his sneer growing in malice. “Of course. You Mewmans think you own everything. Spider Forest ends three miles to the east. You’re in monster territory, Mewman.”
Eclipsa gave him a confused look. She raised an eyebrow and looked in the direction of the river was flowing to. “…..Huh…..no, I don’t think so…”
“I’m not going to stand here arguing with you! Besides, if you want to get technical, all land is monster territory! Everything you Mewmans own was stolen from us!”
The princess was getting annoyed by the fact the boy seemed keen on reminding her that she was a Mewman every two seconds. He sounded like an annoying song put on loop. “Stop yelling at me already! Geez, why do you monsters always have to be so mean? Maybe we would like you guys better if you acted a little nicer.”
“…..” The monster’s eyes shifted from left to right, as if he was expecting something to come leaping out of the woods. Eclipsa couldn’t help but notice he looked much more like a kid when he wasn’t glaring at her. Now that she stopped to think about it, they did look like they were close in age. How weird. Why did he talk so much like the grown-ups?
The more innocent look of the monster didn’t last long, as he was soon once again glaring daggers at her.
“Nice? The monster spat the word. He still hadn’t lowered his dagger. “You mean like you Mewmans? You just made me lose my fish. I was going to trade those for food! Now I’m not going to have breakfast today! Was that you being nice?”
Eclipsa’s eyes moved over the river she had been in moments before. An apologetic look appeared on her face. “It was an accident….”
“Oh, it was an accident? Well, too bad for me, huh? The Mewman made a mistake and now the monster goes hungry. Oopsie doopsie!”
Eclipsa felt bad. She didn’t want to cause any trouble, not even for a monster. She didn’t want this guy to have to lose his breakfast either. She supposed she’d be pretty cranky if someone spoiled her meal too. “….I’m sorry.”
The monster looked taken aback by this. He obviously hadn’t been expecting an apology from her. He opened and closed his mouth, allowing the princess to get a good look at his fangs while he tried to find a retort. He looked to the side, caught off guard enough to lower his knife slightly.
Eclipsa suddenly had an idea. She reached inside her dress pocket and pulled out the snooker bar she had been carrying. It was pretty wet now, but still edible. She smiled softly and held it out to the monster. “Here. You can have this.”
The monster jumped back into his defensive stance when he saw the girl had extended an arm to him. He eased up again though, once it was clear that it wasn’t a weapon pointing at him. His left eyebrows raised in confusion. “What is that thing?”
Eclipsa was surprised. “You’ve never seen one? It’s a snookers bar! My favorite kind of candy!”
“What’s a candy?”
She giggled lightly. “Just try it and find out!”
The monster frowned at her. “I’m not eating anything a Mewman gives me! It’s probably poisoned!”
The girl looked at the candy. “But I couldn’t have. It’s wrapped up! How could I have tampered with it, and then wrapped it back up so perfectly?”
The monster didn’t move.
“C’mon, don’t be scared!”
The monster’s eyes widened. Growling, he charged towards her and snatched the candy out of her hand. “I’m not scared of some Mewman!” He tore the wrapper off and inspected the candy closely.
“Eclipsa.”
The boy gave her a questioning look.
“You don’t have to keep calling me by my race. My name is Eclipsa.”
The look on the monster’s face showed he really didn’t care what her name was. The only response she got was the monster shoving the snookers bar straight into his mouth. A curious look appeared on his face. It must have really been the first time he had candy.
“Tastes good, doesn’t it?” Eclipsa asked with a giddy grin.
“….It’s decent. Where did you get it?”
“The vending machine.”
“The what?”
The monster frowned when the girl giggled at his question. “Hey! Don’t you laugh at me!”
“I’m sorry!” She struggled to suppress her laugh. “But you’re so funny!”
“How so?” The monster glared. He seemed to have forgotten his knife, which he had put aside when he had eaten the chocolate.
Eclipsa shrugged. “Well, you just act so grown-up. All the other Mewmans around my age talk about war, but not like you do. You almost sound like my mom! But you’re just a kid, like me! It’s just…so weird. Do all monsters act like this?”
The monster looked incredulous. “What? Why would you need to ask that? Are you seriously telling me you don’t see a lot of monsters?”
The princess snorted in a rather unladylike fashion. “I’m saying I’ve never seen a monster at all. Mother won’t let me anywhere near you guys. You’re the first one I’ve ever met.”
The monster seemed unsure on how to respond to that. “Well….I guess that explains why you’re so naïve…”
Eclipsa took no offense. Instead, she tilted her head in a pleading fashion. “Hey, do monsters have names? Do you have one? Please tell me what it is! I’ve never heard a monster name before!”
He gave her a long stare. “……..It’s Globgor.”
“Glob….gor?” What a strange name. It sounded like his parents tried to come up with the yuckiest name they could and gave it to their son. It wasn’t a bad name, it just sounded messy. “Wow…..and do all monsters talk like you do?”
The monster, apparently named Globgor, looked confused. “What are you talking about?”
“Your voice. It sounds…..different.”
“My voice is fine!” Unbeknownst to Eclipsa, Globgor knew very well what she was talking about. He had an accent that wasn’t very common among monster folk. Was a Size-Shifter thing? He wasn’t sure. Gooblah had a similar voice, but not to the same degree. There was never any point in asking that old man anything. Apparently he didn’t know where the others of their kind were either. “And what about you? Why is your voice so….posh sounding?”
“’Posh’?”
“Y’know, all snobby!”
Eclipsa huffed and crossed her arms. “Why can’t you say something nice? You’re being very rude to me, you know!”
Globgor rolled his eyes. “Well, duh! That’s because you’re my enemy!”
Eclipsa made a noise of disbelief. “What? But I gave you my candy!”
“That doesn’t matter! You’re a Mewman! I’m a monster! We have to be enemies!”
“How come?”
“Because we’re out there killing each other! Sheesh, don’t you know anything?”
“Yeah but,” Eclipsa gestured aimlessly to the area around them. “We’re not going to hurt each other! So what’s the big deal?”
Globgor paused. He then glared and stood in front of her so that their faces were inches away from each other. “And what makes you think I’m not going to hurt you? You’re a tasty Mewman after all, and I’m a Size-Shifter!”
Eclipsa blinked, unfazed by the proximity of the boy. “What’s a Size-Shifter?”
Globgor’s face became deadpan. “It’s a monster that can breathe fire. What do you think a Size-Shifter is, you dummy?”
….
The girl’s eyes seemed to light up. “Wait, are you seriously telling me you can change your size?” She reached forward and grabbed his hands eagerly. “Oooh! Show me! Show me! Please?”
Globgor snatched his hands back, giving the girl an alarmed look. “A-Are you out of your mind?! You just touched me-!”
“Get bigger!” Eclipsa giggled with excitement and clapped her hands. “Pleeeeease? That would be so cool!”
“……” Globgor puffed his cheeks out and crossed his arms. “I don’t want to show you! I’m not your little performer! My abilities aren’t meant to entertain your kind!”
“…..” Eclipsa deflated. “You can’t actually grow big, can you?”
“I can too!” Globgor’s voice was indignant. “I just…..can’t yet. Size-Shifters can’t grow big until they get older, like teenage years.”
Eclipsa groaned and surprised the monster by sitting down on the ground with defeat. “Aw, but that’s going to take forever! Think of all the cool stuff you could do if you could grow big right now!” She placed her face in her hand. “Trust me, I know what you’re going through. My mom is going to pass down some pretty cool magic to me, but I can’t have it until I ‘come of age’. She won’t even let me play with hers! I don’t want to wait so long! I want to use some magic now!”
Globgor’s face darkened considerably at the mention of the infamous magic. “Oh? And what would you do with that magic, huh?”
Eclipsa placed a digit under her chin in thought. “Well…..I’d want to do a lot of things! Maybe I’d make my hair change color every day! Or I’d make myself an endless supply of snookers! Or maybe I’d make myself really small, so I could sneak out of my home whenever I felt like it!”
….
Eclipsa heard a strange sound. She turned her head to look at the monster boy, only to find that he had vanished. She twisted her head around to see if he had run off. “Hey! Globgor, where did you go?”
“Down here.”
Eclipsa looked down to see that the boy was now as big as her shoe. He had an amused look on his face as he tapped his tiny foot at her expectedly.
Her eyes sparkled with wonder. “W-What? H-How did you-?”
“-I can’t grow big yet, but I can easily shrink to whatever size I want! It comes in handy when I need to crawl into small areas!” His voice was arrogant as he spoke. He was clearly pleased with being able to brag like this to someone. Much to the girl’s delight, she also noticed that his voice had raised noticeably in pitch, making him sound all squeaky while he bragged.
“Woah! That’s so cool!” Eclipsa didn’t seem to mind the haughtiness of the boy. It was a pretty impressive ability to have. Oh the fun she could have if she could shrink like this! Everything would be so much more exciting if it towered far above her! She could pretend she was an actual butterfly! Maybe make herself some wings!
She reached down to touch the boy, only for him to frown and move out of her reach. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I want to pick you up!” she giggled.
“Are you crazy? Why would I let you pick me up?”  He glared as he balled his hands into fists.
“Well, aren’t you a little curious? I would never be able to pick you up if you were your regular size. Has anyone ever picked you up before?” She shrugged while giving him an endearing smile. “I’m not going to hurt you. If you get suspicious, you can just go back to normal.”
Globgor stared at her. He squinted his eyes and took a few steps back. “I don’t want to touch a Mewman. You people are filthy.”
“But we already touched when I grabbed your hands! Now you’re just grasping at straws. Come here!” The boy moved to get away, but he was quickly caught up in Eclipsa’s small hands. She brought him up to her face so that she could get a good look at him.
It was as if both of them fell under some sort of trance. Even Globgor ceased his protests once he realized how close he really was to this girl. A monster and Mewman had never been this close to each other without hostile intentions. Despite this, nothing felt out of sorts about this proximity. In fact, it felt natural. What did it mean when something so forbidden was so comfortable? Weren’t things denied because they were bad for you? Because you’d get hurt if you pursued it? So what was so wrong here? Why was this something no one had tried to do?
“Have you ever been this close to a Mewman before?”
“….Never actually seen a Mewman before.”
Eclipsa wasn’t surprised there. He didn’t sound too experienced with her people. He put on a brave face, but she could see right through him. She’d made him nervous. He wasn’t as tough as he pretended to be.
“You’re funny, Globgor.” Eclipsa giggled and tilted her head to the side. “Want to be my friend?”
…..
Globgor jumped off her hand and made a run for it, returning back to his normal size.
“H-Hey!” Eclipsa jumped to her feet and ran after the monster. “Don’t leave! Globgor! Stay and play with me!”
She charged in pursuit, doing what she could to keep the fluff of the monster’s tail in sight. She stumbled several times due to being very inexperienced with this part of the forest. Much to her frustration, she wound up losing track of the boy. She continued following the trail she had been on, hoping to still have a chance to catch up with him. She kept this going for several minutes, taking many turns in the process. She didn’t even care that she had gotten herself more lost. She was too upset about the cool monster being gone.
WHAM!
Eclipsa squeaked as felt a body leap on top of her. She grunted as she looked up, realizing she had just been body slammed by the boy she had been pursuing. “There you are!”
“You need to quit following me!” Globgor glared down at his captive. “Look at how easily I captured you! If I was another monster, you’d be dead right now!”
A smile broke out on the girl’s face. “So you’re saying you’re not going to hurt me? You do want to be my friend, don’t you? You’re trying to look out for me! That means you like me!”
“…….” Globgor was unable to hold back a chuckle. “You’re so weird!” He opened his eyes as a gasp escaped from the girl underneath him. “What’s wrong?”
Eclipsa beamed with delight. “You have such a nice smile! Your fangs look so pretty! Oh, I wish I had a camera with me!”
“……” Globgor lightly fingered the fangs in his mouth. He looked very confused, but fascinated at the same time. At least he wasn’t insulting her anymore. “Listen-“
A mighty cry broke out in the area around them.
In a flash, Globgor had been forcibly removed from her and flung off with great force. Eclipsa only had time to sit up before she saw the horrific sight of her mother striking the monster down his leg with her wand.
“NO!” she cried out. Not that she could be heard over the sound of the poor boy screaming in pain. Her stomach twisted as she watched the confident monster curl up in a ball and start sobbing. He was so scared! She had to do something!
Eclipsa opted finally to ball her small fists up and started screaming at the top of her lungs.
This caught her mother’s attention, allowing Globgor to make his getaway. Her mom turned back to watch his retreat, but ultimately decided he wasn’t worth the chase. She instead got to her feet and rushed over to the crying princess.
“Sweetie, baby! Are you alright?! Let me see you!” She checked her daughter every which way and that before pulling her into an emotional hug. “Oh my darling, I was so worried! I never would have dreamed I’d find you….what in the name of Mewni are you doing out here?! You are way beyond the Spidebite borderline! You could’ve been killed!”
“M-Mommy….” Eclipsa sniffed as she looked in the direction the boy had run. “That monster-“
“-I know! I know honey, I saw! It was about to attack you! Or capture you or something!” She glared hatefully in the direction her daughter was looking. “I should’ve finished it off! I can’t believe I let that thing get away!”
….Finish off? Wait, that didn’t make any sense. Globgor wasn’t in any army. He wasn’t one of the bad adults. “Mommy, he was a kid like me!”
Solaria gave the child a solemn look. “That matters not. One day he will grow older, and then he’ll be just like the barbarians I face on the battlefield! I am ashamed to have been unable to snip this savage in the bud.” She lifted up her daughter and held her close to her chest. “Oh my sweet, don’t ever do something like this again! I don’t know what I’d do if I were to lose you! Now let’s go home.”
Eclipsa felt her tears return as she was carried off from the forest. No, this wasn’t fair! It wasn’t right! She and the monster were supposed to be friends! Why had her mother been so mean to someone who didn’t hurt her? She wanted to see Globgor again!
She gave a pitiful whine as she reached out for the monster’s escape route to no avail.
___
It was a long carriage ride home. Solaria was doing her best to soothe her daughter, who still had quiet tears falling from her eyes. “My poor darling…that monster really gave you a fright, didn’t he? See, this is why I didn’t want you leave the castle. You have no idea what’s out there, Eclipsa!”
Eclipsa couldn’t help but feel a little angered by her mother’s words. She wanted to explain to her that Globgor hadn’t been trying to hurt her. He’d even tried to warn her that things could go bad for her if she kept wandering around unsupervised. Every time she tried to explain though, her mother cut her off, assuming she was about mention how scared she had been. Why wasn’t her mother listening to her? This wasn’t about playing with her or begging to go along on a trip. She was trying to explain what really happened!
Her mother was still going on even then. “I really do need to have a stern word with the Spiderbites. I know they can’t help the fact that their kingdom is right next to a monster stronghold, but they should still send out scouts or something to make sure things like this don’t happen! I mean, any child can just go wandering off and-“
“-Mommy, I don’t think he wanted to hurt me!” There. She finally got a word in. She spoke her mind.
To her surprise, her mother wasn’t even shocked by her words. She just gave an endearing smile and patted her cheek. “Yes, of course you would think that. You’re such a sweet girl.”
“But it’s true!” Eclipsa declared, surprising them both by pulling away from her mother’s touch. “He smiled at me! He tried to warn me! He-“
“-Those were all just tactics to get you to lower you defense!” Solaria said in a chastising tone.
“But what if it wasn’t?”
“Eclipsa, where is this coming from?” Her face was stern as she spoke. “You meet one monster and now you think you know how to read them?”
“But….that’s still one more than you have!” Eclipsa said in realization. “I actually talked to him, Mommy! I think today is the only day you’ve ever actually sat down and spoken to a-“
Her words trailed off as she suddenly noticed the state her mother was in. She was covered head to toe in blood. Now, usually that would be a very common sight for the princess, but today…..today was supposed to be about making peace. They were just supposed to be talking. So why did….
Solaria’s expression darkened. She didn’t need for her daughter to ask the question. She looked down at the state her clothes were in and sighed.
“I did talk to them, Eclipsa. It didn’t go well.”
___
The girl had to have cast a spell on him. That was the only explanation he could think of.
Globgor couldn’t explain why he didn’t stab the girl as soon as he saw her. Maybe it was because he had never seen a Mewman in person before, but ultimately, he believed it was because the girl had been catching him off guard at every give and turn.
It was like, did she not know how things worked? If a Mewman and a monster ever crossed paths, it was second nature for them to at least spit in the other’s direction, at most try to kill the other. You weren’t supposed to compliment or give each other candy! Was she just stupid or something?
What on mewni had possessed him to let her hold him like that? She could’ve snapped his neck the way he had left himself so vulnerable! It must have been childish wonder that had entranced him once he had gotten so close to the girl’s face. He hadn’t even considered the fact that he was literally putting himself in his enemy’s hands.
Yet, she hadn’t hurt him. Better yet, she actually had the audacity to suggest they be friends.
It had all been too much for boy. He had to get away before things got any crazier.
The girl proved to be stubborn though, as she began to chase after him, calling for him like a little idiot. What if another monster had found her? They would’ve killed her without a second thought. Ugh, why did he care?
Well, it had seemed like he was going to be punished for his stupidity. He had been attacked by the Queen herself. He had witnessed something only the soldiers in his village had. He had come face-to-face with the Monster Carver herself. He wasn’t ashamed to say he’d been terrified. Without his ability to grow, there was no way he could defeat her. He’d thought for sure he was going to die.
But then….the girl had saved him.
He hadn’t come to the realization that she had until he had seen be carried off by the queen, stretching a hand out to him. Before he had seen that, he had assumed it had all been a trap. He was the fool the entire time, taking pity on a moron like her. But….she really had saved him. She defended him. She didn’t want to leave him even then.
Despite the pain he was in as he limped home, Globgor couldn’t help but laugh to himself. Honestly, he didn’t know what else to do! This girl was unbelievable! She acted as if the war going on had nothing to do with her! It had everything to do with her! Because apparently, she was the daughter of the Monster Carver! The princess! How had he not realized that? How could he have forgotten about the warnings of the dreaded curse marks the Butterflys had on their cheeks?
He had been rescued by the princess of Mewmans.
What was he supposed to do with that information? Should he let his people know just how naive she was and what a strong hold she had on Monster Carver’s heart?
….
Sweet corn, he didn’t want this girl in danger. Was something wrong with his head?!
“Banana Hat, what’s happening to me?” Globgor moaned to the muscular whale that appeared behind him.
“I think you were on the money about her casting some sort of spell on you. I don’t believe that she’s actually as powerless as she let on! You were just a plaything for her!” Banana Hat drew his sword and pointed it to the sky. “Well, it doesn’t matter! You survived and now you never have to worry about seeing that sneaky brat ever again!”
“Yeah. Right.” Globgor’s eyes looked from left to right. “Um….now when you say ever again-“
“Globgor, snap out of it!” the whale exclaimed. “Can’t you see she’s mind-controlling you?!”
“I know, I know! Of course I know that! It’s just that…you know, in the off chance that she’s being sincere-“
“Globgor-“
“Hear me out! It’s just a thought! Thus could be a huge breakthrough for monsterkind! I mean, she’s going to be queen one day and-“
“Globgor!”
His friend vanished back into the recesses of his mind once he took notice of the commotion greeting him at the entrance of his village. Ignoring the pain in his leg, he hobbled over as he quickly as he could.
Everyone was gathered around, their voices mixing together with woe and despair. It was a struggle for the boy to push through to the front, but once he did, it was as if all the pain in his leg and had transferred over to his heart.
It was a lineup of wagons, each one carrying a different monster. All of them were dead. Cut through the chest by a slash that dragged in the shape of a lightning bolt. Seven wagons lined up with the dead. Families stood beside them and wept for their lost loved one.
The waves of mourning began to shift into a storm of rage.
“I knew that blasted queen couldn’t be trusted!”
“She did this, didn’t she?! That witch broke her word! She’s the lowest form of life!”
“Why did we ever think we could talk to those barbarians?! They need to be exterminated, plain and simple!”
Globgor barely heard the others as he walked among the deceased monsters. Everything around him became a low rumble until he finally landed on the last cart.
It was Gooblah.
Globgor wasn’t a stranger to death. He heard reports of monster-slaying on a daily basis. But this was the first time someone he’d known personally had come back dead. And it left a heavy ache in the center of his chest.
He was the last Size-Shifter in the village. Maybe in all of Mewni.
He began to pick up on the voices around him as felt warms tears spill down his face.
“And Gooblah? What are we supposed to do without him?”
“He hasn’t fought in years, right?”
“Yeah, but the fact that he was living here was all that was keeping those bloody Mewmans from messing with us! He was our best defense!”
“Without him, we’ll be sitting ducks! We’re gonna be crushed by that horrid queen!”
It was coming to the point where Globgor couldn’t think straight with all the noise. Yet somehow, a single, intense feeling of determination welled up inside him. He tightly clasped Gooblah‘s hand before turning to face everyone.
“Nobody is going to be crushed except for the Mewmans!”
Everyone turned to glance down at the young monster, who made his way over to a nearby tree stump and stood on top of it. He had a face that was both threatening and reassuring. “Did you guys forget? I’m a Size-Shifter too! I’m still here, so you guys have nothing to worry about!”
Murmurs broke out throughout the crowd before one monster finally spoke up. “Kid, you can’t grow yet! The Mewmans aren’t going to wait around until you get older!”
“Who says I need to be a giant in order to cause some damage?” A confident smile appeared on his face as he stood proudly before his people. “I’m going to enlist in the army effect of immediately!” More murmurs broke out, this time louder than before.“But you’re just a kid! You’re too young to fight!” a woman called out.
“I won’t be an anything if I let this carry on!” Globgor countered. “I’ll let those Mewmans know that there’s a new Size-Shifter protecting this community! They don’t need to know that I can’t increase my size yet.” His grin grew, showing off his sharp fangs. “And I don’t need to grow in order to make those ruthless barbarians my next meal!”
The monsters looked at him with confusion, while the boy just shrugged. “When we hunt, do we eat the game whole? No. We cook it. We cut it up. We eat it in pieces. Are we not low on food? Well, if the Mewmans won’t give us the land we need in order to grow the resources we need, then they’ll just have to provide it for us in a different way!” His smile disappeared as his face became more serious. “The Mewmans know what a threat Size-Shifters are. That means they’ll see me as a threat. Let me take care of you all! Let me fight for you! Let me make sure this,” he pointed towards the line of deceased monsters, “never happens again!”
Everyone talked excitedly among each other. Of course everyone had been expecting the child to enlist when he got older and was able to crush his foes with a giant fist. But the boy was still young and unable to grow in size. How could they put their faith in someone so unprepared?
“I believe in you, Globgor!”
The crowd looked to see a small, pink anthropomorphic cat monster with brown hair in a bun step up and look at the monster boy with earnest eyes. She had her paws clasped in front of her, almost like she was praying. A young red tiger-like feline with black hair stood behind her, looking like he wanted to pull her back. The girl didn’t seem to notice.
“You’re so brave! I’m going to follow you very hard, okay? I know you won’t let us down!”
“But he’s too small to do anything!” another monster called out. “Look kid, we admire your bravery, but what are you going to do when you’re facing a Mewman twice your size? I mean, I doubt they’ll be scared after they clobber you into the dirt!”
“And what makes you so sure they will?” Globgor shot back. He flipped his leg over so that he could show the crowd the injury he had just received not too long ago. “I’ll have you know I just met with the Monster Carver in person, and I walked away to tell the tale!”
A gasp broke out among the monsters. Many approached him, trying to get a better look at the wound. There was no doubt about it. It was completely identical to the ones on the deceased. It was a cut from the evil wand of Solaria.
“That’s impossible! How are you still alive?!” someone called out.
“I wish I could tell you I locked arms with the queen and won, but that’s not what happened. I managed to get away and outrun her. I looked her right in the eye as she struck me with blazing red magic of hers. I won’t be a fool and say I could take her on right now at the age I am. I don’t even believe I could defeat a Mewman soldier. But with some training, I will take down her army, and eventually I will bring us the queen to feast on! THIS I SWEAR!”
This time, everyone cheered at the end of his speech. Some even began chanting his name. He had won them over with his determination and words. The pink feline actually ran up and hugged him around his neck.
“Hi! I’m Puma!” she said with a grin.
Globgor laughed nervously and gently pulled her away. “Um…nice to meet you. I thank you for believing in me.”
“Oh you’re welcome!” She looked over at the tiger monster. “Tigre, come say hi to this guy!”
While she talked, Globgor looked back in the direction of the forest. He had just declared Mewman kind as his prey, and he meant every word of it. He’d do anything for his people. They needed someone like him. He’d give his very life for not just them, but those who had tragically lost their lives to the enemy, one monster in particular.
…..Still……if there really was a glimmer of hope among these creatins…..
Globgor turned his head as Puma tapped his shoulder. “Hey, would you mind if my brother and I took a picture with your scar?”
___
Eclipsa had to wait until nightfall in order to sneak out again. She needed to see Globgor. She needed to apologize and let him know that she hadn’t planned on her mother showing up. She had to. She couldn’t sleep without knowing if he was okay or not. She liked the boy. He was the most exciting thing she had seen in she didn’t know how long! So, really, she had no choice but to sneak out and head back to the Forest of Unlikely Spiderbites.
What she would up doing was finding the nearest river and following it deep into the forest. She needed to be careful because she had made the mistake of not bringing a flashlight or something. She really could be impulsive at the worst of times. Oh well, she couldn’t exactly go back and fetch it. She kept going until she finally found the discarded net the boy had left. She looked around, hoping to find…..what exactly? Had she really expected him to be there? He hadn’t even come back for his net. She knew there was no way she’d be able to find him if she just kept walking. Although she was adventurous by nature, even she knew that wandering the forest without any source of light was a surefire way to get herself killed.
Deflated, the princess sat down by the river and started to cry. She had come all this way and her new friend was long gone! It just wasn’t fair! Why was it whenever she cared about someone, they couldn’t stay with her? As childish as it sounded, she really could never seem to get what she wanted!
As she wiped her eyes, a small piece of paper tacked on to the fishing net suddenly caught her attention. She hopped up and quickly removed it. It was a note! She began to read it.
If you want to meet again, go to the outskirts of the forest on the Spiderbite side on Tuesday at 8 at night. I’ll be there and wait for an hour. Bring more candy. Don’t let anyone see this note, especially not the queen! In fact, eat it. Eat it right now.
-Globgor
Eclipsa released a happy squeal. He wanted to see her again! She had a friend! A monster friend! She could all but hum to herself as she giddily stuffed the paper in her mouth. They were going to have the best time together!
Whew! 17 pages! I hope that made the wait worth it! So now the story of Globgor and Eclipsa really begins! Heads up, the next chapter is going to take place a year later. I mean, if sat here and wrote out every detail of every meeting they ever had, we would never reach the end! So there will be times when there will be time-skips so we can move the timeline along. Remember that this story isn’t really focused on plot as much as it is the development of Globgor and Eclipsa’s relationship over the years. Until next time!

4 - for Peter B., Jess & Miguel
Send me three names + a number...
"Oh I am usually playing those games with the Sisters!" Wolf laughed so loudly that the little gap between her stark frontteeth was clearly visible. Then the smile faded and from one moment to another the young woman looked as if she had bitten on a sour piece of fruit, muttering under her breath: "Lets hope for once noone says the Mother Superiors name because I am really not ready to face that kink of myself in anyway ever until the end of my life when my soul fades finally into nothingness. No, really, not going to face that." When hearing the three names Wolf Overly theatralically let go of a long breath and wiped away imaginary sweat from the forehead of her helmet: "Saved! Good, that woman might follows me in my dreams and cause very confused feelings towards mother-figures, but at least not here- whew!"
"Well than, adopt, be adopted by, marry it is. I have not the property in my backhand to marry and make that union a success, yet I also am definitive not planning to actually stay as a laysister and become novice," she took one of her braids out of her hood and ran it through her fingers with the ribbons sewed in it shimmering like rubys. She winked jokingly, before putting the braid back in her Gugels hood: "I like my hair long for that too much and to join a convent one needs to devote ones life fully and my life is already devoted to other causes thanks to that spiderbite. But anyway, in theory? it would shine a really not nice light on my character if I would chose Peter or Jess to marry as they are already married. So I would need to marry Miguel. Hach, poor poor Migeul. He really would not win anything from such a union, neither in property nor in good name. Not nice for him, not nice." Wolf slowly shaked her head in honest compassion, then, as if skipping a lever she clapped her hands together and continued chirping: "Than lets continue with adopted by and thats simple- Jess. Here I was beeing happy the Mother Superior was not named and yet I am still fighting my really not nice", she stopped, blinking with eight widned and big eyes awkwardly before she corrected herself slowly: " ..'awe', yes, 'awe', lets name it 'awe', over motherly people. Its a curse. Which means I am adopting Peter. Huh. Alright. I could have have a worser child. At least he includes a grandchild already, so thats a good choice."

Really activated the spider in your brain for spiderbit last time huh?
Anyway! For a change of pace to fluff, you can even keep fed!Roier as if he convinced Cellbit to take a break/slow down/stop for a bit, what about just... Photographer Cellbit? Taking a notice for small things around or just taking some fails photos of Roier after being in that office for so long?
ough man they have my heart
i like to think cellbit would be meticulous with the pictures, like he is with everything else. he'd print out every photo, obviously, because he likes making memories tangible -- having something to hold on to -- and he'd keep them all inside a binder, a hard-cover folder he stashes somewhere in the office so it'll be close to him always.
cellbit would annotate the back of each one, writing down the dates and who's in them and where they were, what they were doing then. he likes keeping track of the good times, if he's honest, likes working through the details so they'll be there if he ever needs a reminder.
that's a big part of he figures it out, actually. the whole roier thing. one day he's taking pictures of richarlyson on an adventure, framing his curly head of hair against the orange sunset and the next, the binder's full. cellbit looks through it, start to end, because he hadn't realized it was getting so stuffed. what he finds, outstandingly, is page after page of roier's face. cellbit's in some of them, sure. others picture the two of them plus the kids, bobby and richas pulling at each other's ears with twin mouthfuls of mirth. some are innocent enough, the back of roier's head in the distance, before the starry night sky or a particularly colorful tree. he's a reocurring presence, though.
cellbit doesn't know what to do with that, at first. he'd been capturing happy moments, and somewhere along the way they had taken the shape of a blue bandanna and a bright red hoodie to match.
like all unsolved problems in cellbit's vicinity, it doesn't remain that way for long. this means that, the next time he leaves the office, he gets a new folder. a second volume, of sorts. cellbit is a practical person. this new binder is bigger, meant to hold even more. it's only logical. all the unsorted photos had been starting to pile up. <3

Four little eyes popped open at this declaration.
“Huh? What? What are you talking about?” He hated that his voice was so high-pitched whenever he shrank, but he didn’t have the courage to return to his normal size again. He rolled over on to his back so he was properly facing the girl. “I’ve never felt that good in my life. My friend Tigre always goads on me on fpr not taking any interest in girls, but I never knew how…elevating kissing one could feel. I guess it took the right girl to come along for me to see that ….”
Feeling a bit better, he finally returned himself to normal size and helped his girlfriend back to her feet. He was still blushing, but considering the princess seemed to match him in terms of nervousness, he felt himself regain some of his confidence. After all, his Eclipsa was fearless. Nothing was too bold or crazy for her. If she was really all that concerned for what he thought of the kiss, then that had to mean this meant a lot to her.
“I mean....well, what can I say? My heart was in my throat the whole time. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I know it’s practically criminal how handsome I am, but well....”
Honestly, he didn’t know what to say exactly. Again, he really didn’t want to shame Eclipsa for dating other monsters. Although he found it pretty wreckless, he wasn’t in charge of who she saw. She didn’t have any obligation towards him. Sadly, that still didn’t stop the panic that had overtaken him once he saw her dating chapter in her book. To him, it was a list of people she liked more than him. That scared him. It angered him. Those chumps couldn’t have Eclipsa! She was his!
And that was the moment he realized he liked Eclipsa a lot. Like, more than a friend.
He wanted to ask her how she would score him in her dating chapter, but he didn’t want her to think that he had asked her out just because his pride had been wounded. He knew he could be a bit....arrogant at times (it wasn’t his fault he was so good-looking and strong), but this had nothing to do with that. He just really wanted to have Eclipsa....for however long he could.
The usually dominant logic side of his mind told him that he was insane for asking her out. They were already pushing it with their friendship. Nothing good could come from them dating. She was the princess of the kingdom, and he was a wanted criminal. The only way this could end was in heartbreak.
.....But dang it, he wanted her so bad! Was it really so wrong to indulge himself for the time being? He wanted to kiss her again so bad....he didn’t want anyone else in his position. He just knew he’d go crazy with jealousy.
This whole thing was such a bad idea, but he wanted to do it anyway! Dang it! The story of his life ever since he met the girl.
The boy decided to hide his tumbling mind with a smile. “Well.....if you felt anything that I just felt with that kiss, then you can tell that Spiderbite kid that he doesn’t stand a chance now! What was his name again? Shasty-something? You know, that guy your mom keeps trying to set you up with?”

Send 💑 for a first kiss
Eclipsa wound up having to be the one to close the gap between them. Just when the monster boy had worked up the nerve to lean in for the kiss, he had lost his nerve and froze before finally meeting her lips. It was humiliating to say the least. Before he could pinch himself in order to force himself to finish the move, the girl had gone ahead and done it for him.
Woah.
Okay, maybe he still had a lingering for Mewman or something, because she tasted amazing. Her lips were so warm and sweet. He found himself pressing further into her the longer the kiss went on. Wait, was this too long for a first kiss? Well, she was still going on, so it was okay if he was too. Did that mean that she was enjoying the kiss too? Was he just….
….
His mind stopped working. All he could feel was passion now as he cupped the girl’s face. He didn’t care if this kiss was going on too long or not. He had never felt this way before. He just wanted more….
