So basically the author does it to hide it, so maybe the author wants to do some changes or something, we don’t know. I’m sure there’s a good reason, but I don’t think we need to worry 🫶🏻

Unless you have downloaded it, there isn’t a way to read it right now.

im sure this has been answered already, but why hasn't ao3 made Humans are Weird/Humans are Space Orcs one of those searchable/filtered tags?

we know this is what comes up when clicking on that tag:

yet the oldest fic using it dates back to 2012, and fics are still actively uploading to this tag! I love reading in any fandom that touches upon this topic, but why hasn't this tag worked like other Additional Tags? (like Crack Treated Seriously, Missing Scene, No Beta we die like [character] are searchable tags across fandoms, why not HASO?)

When I eventually finish posting “Red Robin: Scales of Justice,” should I also post to AO3 a companion work containing all of my extensive notes written during the process of writing the full fic? Current word count estimate for this companion piece is ~14k. It would be divided into chapters to make it more digestible.

So background info is that I have an outline for a story and though I'm not sure how long it'll be I do know it'll be at least over 50 chapters. I'm just stuck on if I should make it be a tragedy or full of angst with a happy ending

I want to write a scene WAY later on for a kny fic, in which one of the hashiras thinks they are turning into a demon and frantically drives the people around them in that moment away for their safety and do a couple of VERY unsettling things to hold on to their humanity, including biting into a piece of wood/metal (haven't decided) as a muzzle and stabbing their hand with a pen to keep the pain as a form of humanity with an injury that wouldn't close.

HOWEVER idk how to tag it. Like ik that sh would be tagged, and also heavy angst but idk if it qualifies as dead dove just yet. Any thoughts?

Hello! So I know I've been a bit AWOL but my life got really hectic. But in all the good ways. I got engaged and have just bought a house so I've not been in the mind frame to write. But things are starting to calm down and I'm hoping to write again soon.

I currently only share my one shots here on Tumblr and have my written stories on Wattpad. Engagement on Wattpad has really dropped over the last 6 months and it's been hard to get back going after a long time out. So my question to you all is should I move across to AO3? (Don't worry any Wattpadders I'd still post there too.) I've not used it before so any advice or comments on it would be greatly appreciated!

I think my stories are too long to post here as the books are 50 plus chapters. So I'm just looking for a way to get back the engagement I had with readers when I first started writing as I miss that community!

I just thought of this since a post or so below mentioned they were going to study. If you have ever read a fanfic and went i want to hear this be read but there is no podfic or you just don't like podfics I have news for you.

Download the fic you want to be read out loud as a PDF and the app ReadEra you can for free listen to work. Now it is going to be a Google translate like voice and you can only speed it up to certain number for free but i use it quiet often. You can also use it as a PDF reader without the voice and start anywhere you like. Here is the app from the app storeI just thought of this since a post or so below mentioned they were going to study. Her hey, fanfic writers and ao3 lovers, I need some input.

Currently writing a story that hasn't been posted yet. It will probably have 13 chapter altogether.

I have, however, two different ideas for the ending. Ending A would be mostly canon-compliant but an unhappy ending. Ending B goes off script for the characters and the overall world so the couple can have a happy ending. Up until Chapter 11 everything is identical, only 11-13 go wildly different.

I like both ending equally, so there isn't a "true" ending in my mind.

How should I go about posting this? Two stories amd i explain in the description that they will have different outcomes? Are two versions of the same story even allowed on ao3? Should I flip a dime and post one of the stories completely, and then just post the other three chapter as if they are a spin-off? I think the series function on ao3 will help with that?

Or should I just double post and point to which version to read in the title of the chapter? As in "chapter 11, canon compliant" and "chapter 11, happy end". (Sounds messy as hell to me)

Because I don't know who to bother with this.

I'd love to read ao3 on my phone, easy access etc. etc. but the font is so tiny and I am so blind such a big fan of easy to read / big fonts so the question is: Is there a way to make the text of the fic I'm reading bigger? If it's through CSS... how? 🥲

is it better to download fics as PDFs or HTML? I saw something that said you need an internet connection to access a PDF, but in the ao3 faq it says either can be opened offline.

Like do you just put those tags in and never talk about it until the tag comes up? Or what?
