'Til the Love Runs Out || Tester || Arena Day One
Sutter and I ran out of the Bloodbath hand in hand. We had both managed to get a decent amount of stuff. I wanted to laugh, to cheer with joy that we had both made it out without a scratch and had something to show for it, but I just kept running so we could get out of there. I squeezed his fingers as we ran through the trees and broke through on the grass of the other side. We stopped for a minute to catch our breath and plan our next move.
"I thought for sure it was a desert," I said, a bit out of breath. I pulled the packs straps tight over my shoulders and put my hands on my hips. I did a 360, turning to look at our surroundings. There was a small hole in the ground. Next to it was a flag, clearly marked with the number six. I started laughing. "Wait a minute," I giggled, "This is actually a golf course?" I looked over at Sutter with a grin, "I figured the outfits were just to throw us off," I glanced down at the white polo and ridiculous pants they had put us in. "Well I'll be damned. Daddy will certainly love this," I smiled and looked back at Sutter. "So, Mystery Boy, where to?"

JKJ || Arena Day 1
Joule, Kineos and I regrouped after we crawled out of the sand pit. I stood and looked around to see the exact opposite of what I expected. Trees and water scattered throughout freshly cut grass. "A fucking Golf course?" I scoffed as Kineos and Joule gathered close to me. I sighed and we began walking.
We weren't too far from the cornucopia yet, and we couldn't see any tributes for a while around us. however when the ground began to shake as it did before, we armed ourselves. I clutched my sickle and brought it up. Joule wiped her arm around and yanked her Dagger , and Kineos did the same.
The floor began to open in front of us and we took a step back. However, to our surprise, a golf cart lifted from its home underground. My name in black letters was painted across the front, and a rabbit's foot dangled from the ignition. I furrowed my brows confused and then it dawned on me that this was my prize for placing 2nd in the scavenger hunt.
A grin stretched across my face and I jumped up and clapped my hands as I ran to the vehicle and took my place in the drivers seat. I started the cart and looked over at my two confused allies from 5. "Get in bitches, we goin' for a ride." I hollered at them with a wide smile.

A Hole In One || Arena Day 1
A golf course? Really Xanthus. Really? I slow down my pace, taking survery of my surroundings. There's nothing but rolling hills and green all the around, a few clusters of trees littered here and their. I can't help but think some real shit will be happening soon - this arena is too chill to entertain the Capitol. No one, not even the elderly Capitolites, would want to watch this.
I can hear maybe four or five people near - probably two alliances. It's not smart to stick around and get into a fight this early. But there's a tube very near, pretty much the size of Caradoc. If we stick around we could hide out until they leave and take a look at it. There might be something interesting in there. But Shamus told us we should get ourselves situated first, find shelter and water. How the fuck are we suppose to find shelter in a golf course? I turn to Caradoc. "Hey.. what should we do?" I gesture towards the tube. "Check it out or find a base?"

|| Zeke + Avery ||The Arena, day 1. || Let's get you fixed up.||
I gently picked Avery up into my arms, and began running away from the bloodbath, as fast as my legs could carry me. When I was out of the sandpit, my eyes took a moment to readjust to all of the different colours that had been brought into view, and I spotted a bunch of trees. I ran over, gently placing Avery down against a trunk, I kissed her cheek.
Running my hand down her cheek slowly, I noticed she was breathing heavily. Too heavily than what could be good for her right about now. My eyes dropped down to the axe wound, and then abck up to her eyes. "It's not that bad, it's not. Trust me." I had broke my promise to be silent around her, but without doing so, there was no way I could help.
I was about to pick her up again and carry on heading East when the ground opened in front of us, revealing a golf cart, with Avery's name etched into it. Without even asking, I picked Avery up, and gently placed her down in the golf cart seat, turned the key in the ignition and drove off, keeping one hand on her to keep her safe.
A few moments later, and we were near a sign: '17.' I hopped out of the cart and picked her up again, grabbing the key from the cart and stuffing it into my pocket, I lay her down against a tree stump yet again, assessing the damage.
A parachute fell above us, I grabbed it, wrenched it open and read the sign. A silent nod towards the tree gave Ceris my thanks, and my word. "Ave, we can save you. You just need to calm down."I kissed her cheek again, and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
Calm down, baby. Calm down." I cooed quietly, I couldn't lose her.. Not now..

Deer in Headlights || Arena || OS
The clubhouse looks locked and I check to see if there are other ways in when I give up. I wasn't about to drag around two deer corpses while trying to break into a locked clubhouse. Instead, I settle away behind the house, giving myself some blockage in case other tributes see me.
Grabbing my bowie knife from my pack, I cut apart the game, slicing them up into more manageable pieces. I dig through my pack to find something to pack the raw, bloody meat in. I sigh and look around and find some large leaves I could use to wrap up the game with.
After I stuff everything back into my bag after I clean everything up. I sling the pack over my shoulder, hook my dagger in my pant loop, and hold my spear up, ready to head off. I figure that if everyone went ahead, I decide to turn a 180 and walk back toward the bloodbath and past that. When I finally reach back, I see that everything is empty but I keep moving southwest.

Sleep The Pain Away || Arena Day 1 OS
I slumped in the seat of the golf cart. My head felt dizzy and everything was out of place. I rested my head in my hands and breathed in and out. That boy must have knocked me hard in the head. My eyes slipped shut and the darkness was soothing to my aching head. I rest my head for a moment, realizing I have earned this little nap session.
The realization of what I had just done hit me hard and it was all I could do but to leap up in the air in celebration. I had used my training well. Hopefully my parents had been watching - who am I kidding, everyone would have seen it.
I was proud of myself, but I couldn't look at the place where Adagio's body had lain. Since my fight with him, the hovercraft had swooped in and taken him away. Despite all the training it was still a little weird to take away someone's life.
But enough with that talk, I have to get going. My collected items laid on the seat beside me and I took a mental inventory of what I had. The weapons I had acquired included Adagio's machete and a pack of shurikens. I examined each shuriken, relishing the new weapon. We didn't really dwell on these in training, but they seemed as easy to throw as knives.
I had also gotten a shield. Man, was that ever lucky. I would be even more unstoppable with this bad boy along for the ride. I grinned from ear to ear. This was perfect.
The real treasure trove laid in the backpack that was left behind. I unzipped the top and quickly pulled out my haul. There was a few pieces of food that I set off to the side. I would pick at it when I had chosen my place to stay tonight.
The fun stuff was next. I produced a grappling hook from the backpack. I grinned at my discovery. That would be so useful in the future. A blanket and mattress came out next, thankfully I would have a good sleep tonight. Next, I picked out a tube of anitbiotic ointment which would be great for my shallow cut on my leg. Better to be safe then sorry.
I unscrewed the tube and squeezed out a little onto my finger. I rubbed it on the shallow cut on my thigh. It stunk a bit, but otherwise it was fine. I ripped a piece of my uniform off of my sleeve and wrapped it around my thigh. It was only a shallow cut, but I think that wrapping it up would be more than a enough.
I placed the tube of cream on my pile of growing supplies. This was a good start to the Games, I must say. I had supplies, weapons, a shield, a kill under my belt and a golf cart.
I shoved my supplies back into the backpack. I stuck the machete out of the top of the backpack, so it was ready for me to grab if I was swordless. I put the shurikens in my pockets for quick access and laid the sword on the seat beside me. Finally I strapped the shield on my left arm. I was ready for anything.
The afternoon had fell away to evening and I had to start thinking of finding somewhere to hole up for the night. North of me was a stretch of water. I decided to head that way because then I would have something that prevented tributes from sneaking up on me from behind.
I started the engine of the golf cart. I was almost giddy with excitement; like a 10 year old at Christmas time. It roared to life and I sped off towards the body of water. I stopped just shy of 10 metres from the water.
There weren't any trees for cover, but this was as good as it was going to get. I cut the engine of the cart and slid out. The sun was setting and I needed to set up camp quick. I took out the mattress and blew it up. It took a while, but I was at least getting a good night's rest tonight. My head was still pounding, but as far as I could tell it wasn't going to make me dead just yet.
I moved the mattress to the side of the cart that faced the water. It would at least make me invisible to those staring at it. I could surprise anybody that comes snooping near my new cart.
I settled down onto my mattress and pulled out the pineapple juice and a fruit cup. I gulped down a quarter of the juice and finished off the fruit cup really fast. The blanket was soft and I wrapped myself up in it. I stayed up to watch the Fallen and slowly drifted to sleep.

Surviving, just ✿ Arena Day One OS
Still a little bit troubled from everything I’d actually seen today, I had to spend the majority of the daylight actually trying to get my bearing and deal with the harsh reality that was going to be my life for however long I may live it. I might be alive for a few more days, maybe just one. For all I knew someone could be right behind me ready and trying to kill me - I could die in a second. And that thought terrified me. I never thought I would be afraid of dying, but I am afraid to die like this and especially in this place which I know I will. There was blood still all over me and with the white clothes I had been placed in, it stained a horrific dark red and to anyone who didn’t know any better it would have seemed that I had taken a life of one of my competitors already.
The trees ahead of me seemed camouflaged enough and whilst the sun was still shining and there was still some warmth, I sat down and slept for a few hours and by some miracle when I woke up I was still alive - it seemed as though nobody had found me yet. So as the sun started to set and daylight faded into twilight, I collected my things up and got moving hopefully as far away from the competition as possible. I continued to walk south for a little while longer until I realised that if I continued to walk that way, I might not be a supply of water. I doubted that I got a sponsor and I didn’t want to risk dying of dehydration either, so keeping to lake to my left I continued to follow it and it eventually started to bring me east. The sky continued to get darker and darker and with this darkness I knew that people were going to be sleeping soon. I however, found myself more alive whenever the day became night and stars began to shine. For a moment I could have pretended that the stroll I was having was just a regular one and that I wasn’t really in a pageant fighting for my life but I was, and I just couldn’t pretend anymore.
I carried on following the lake east before it headed north again and I saw a small collection of trees up ahead where I decided to take refuge for the night. Ahead of me a small bridge and to my right some sand just like the other holes. I wondered if any of them in particular were special. Before losing the last of the light, I took my bow from around my shoulder and loaded an arrow. I wasn’t awful with this weapon, but I wasn’t fantastic either. And if now wasn’t a prime time to practice I couldn’t think of a time to do it. With my back (stupidly) to the water, I faced the trees in front of me and squinted a little to distinguish between them. I pulled back the string of the bow and focused for a few seconds before letting go and watching the arrow soar and somehow lodge into the tree trunk. I ignored the fact that I wasn’t actually aiming for that particular trunk but the fact that it actually stuck was good enough for me.
I repeated this, for perhaps half an hour until there was virtually no light to do so. I retrieved all of my arrows again before sitting down and leaning on a trunk for a few minutes thinking about what was next. Would they send me another alligator? Maybe even a swarm of bees or a plague of some sort, who knew? Maybe they were in a particularly awful mood. I had only heard one cannon since the Bloodbath and just as the thought crossed my mind, a loud blare of music nearly made me jump out of my skin and the sight of the Capitol seal confused for a couple of seconds before I read the words ‘The Fallen’ and then I understood. A part of me wanted to turn away the second I saw Declans face flash up first but I knew that if I was actually going to find the strength to fight and keep myself alive then I was just going to have to. But it was awful, it was all just so horrible. There was so much violence, and so much blood and so much death already. And the games had just begun. I silently prayed for all four of the people that lost their lives in the Bloodbath but it didn’t hurt as much as when I saw Adam flash up in the sky.
“No…” my hands flew to my chest and I shook my head as I remembered the nice and shy boy that I encountered after the Parade. He was so sweet, and so kind and he didn’t deserve to die so young. It was the parts like this that made me so angry. I wiped the tears that had fallen away and let out a frustrated growl because no one of us deserved this. I could now see why they protested and rebelled so violently now.
As I wrapped my hands around myself to keep warm in the cold, the sound of a beeping came from above me and then a little parachute landed not far from me. At first I felt a panic start to rise because I felt like it belonged to someone else and that they were close by, but then I realised that I was being an absolute idiot. I crawled from my spot and opened up the large parachute and gasped at the contents of it.
“Oh purple is my favourite colour!” and it just got so much better. Along with the purple blanket was some vegetable soup and hot chocolate with marshmallows! The kindness shown was enormous and the note inside warmed my heart a little. I nodded a little after reading the note and whispered a near silent ‘Thank you’ to Alcander before eating half of my soup and chugging the whole of my hot chocolate down because it was just too good to save. It gave me hope that someone believed in me, and somewhat the strength to carry on because if he thought I could win then maybe I could it just required me having to do some bad things. But judging by the actions of some that I have seen already maybe it is deserved. I curled up in a ball and wrapped myself comfortably in the blanket and fell asleep easily, and underneath stars like I always have.

Last Thoughts || Arena || OS
I was about to drift off into sleep when the Capitol horns blare and play the Fallen. My eyes blink awake as I sit up in alertness. I hadn't heard too many cannons go off today, but I was also drifting in and out of sleep.
The Capitol seal appears in the sky between the branches of the trees and I see the boy from Three be killed by Clifton. Didn't think he had it in him, but now I know. Then I see the girl and I'm face-to-face with myself impaling her with my spear. I place my head down and miss a few more recaps. When I look up again, I see Delilah finishing off a boy. I shake my head lightly. I wasn't surprised, but I was a little disappointed. I had been hoping she wouldn't go down that route, but I should have known better. Now, I just wanted to steer clear of her.
When the Fallen, finishes, I count aloud to myself. Only five down, nineteen left. For day one, not many people have died. I sigh and push the thought away. I need to survive on my own, and being without an alliance, I was already at a higher risk than everyone else. I grip my spear once more and doze in and out of sleep, checking every few minutes of my surroundings.

Doe a Deer, a Female Deer || Arena || OS
Soon after my escape from the bloodbath, I slow down my run, checking behind me. There seems to be no one behind but I know for certain many people ran ahead of me. Before me is a building for what I hope is a safe shelter. Cautiously, I approach it when suddenly two mutts approach me.
A stag and a deer stand before me, their eyes red and angry. I immediately hold my spear up defensively. I take slow steps to my right, starting a slow circle dance as we each gauge each other. Suddenly, my foot steps on a small twig, the snap alerts the stag and he charges after me. Raising my spear up, I hold it up to the charging stag, but last minute, I decide to jump out of the way. The stag brakes, digging his hooves into the ground.
The doe suddenly charges from behind me, the sounds of the hooves quickly grabbing my attention. Spinning around on my heels, I wield my spear and swing it low against the doe's legs, knocking her onto the ground. Raising the spear up, I dig it into her eye and twist it, an ear-piercing screech sounds before the body goes limp.
The stag, now regained his grounding, stared me down for having killed his partner died. My breath catches and I'm face-to-face with a rogue stag. We run toward each other, my spear held high as we clash. My spear digs into his chest and out his back. He grunts and glares at me, the red eyes piercing me, ready to tackle me down. Before he can regain his footing, I grab out the dagger and slice it across the stag's neck. A gurgling rises in his throat, mixed in with blood.
I'm panting hard as I drag the stag's body to the side. Perhaps I can roast it and eat it. Soon, I'm standing in front of the building with a bloody, dead stag as I open the door to the inside.

I don't like The Hunger Games :( ✿ Arena Day One OS
With the horror of the Bloodbath still fresh in my mind, I was finding it hard to focus on anything in front of me - let alone run. Everything was moving so quickly, there was blood from that poor girl all over me and when I reached the point where I just couldn't run anymore, I fell down onto my hands and knees and vomited. I could practically hear Nausicaa laughing at me as I threw up the last good breakfast I would ever have and sobbed. I knew that what I was going to experience was going to be horrible but I didn't for one second expect it to be as God awful as this. After a couple of minutes I managed to calm down, and at that point I knew I just had to carry on for the people that were watching and supporting me. I was a lot stronger than this. I sat back for a few seconds and looked at the things I'd managed to grab before I had to leave. A bow and an axe would do me well got the time being of course. I had to find food, clean water and shelter but it didn't seem like that would be readily available in this place.
I'd never played golf before but it didn't take a genius to work out that we were in a golf course. I was mildly disappointed at the lack of golf clubs. After I cleaned myself up I got up to head further south when I heard this kind of growl behind me. I knew that running away from whatever thing was behind me would be a bad idea because it would just chase me, so instead I slowly turned around and in front of me was an alligator, and a ferocious one at that. I felt I was going to be standing there for eternity thinking of an escape plan. I couldn’t run. I couldn’t just stay there, I didn’t want to fight it and there was no way in hell that I was jumping into the water where it came from. Directly behind me however was a tree trunk and a sturdy one as well. I slowly moved my hands behind me to feel for some branches and when I felt something that I could put my feet on, I turned around and jumped onto the trunk. Almost immediately after I moved, I heard the ground start to pound as the alligator chased after me. Another scream involuntarily left my mouth as I desperately started to clamber up the tree for my dear life and with the thing practically snapping at my legs I was surprised at how I was evening manage to stay onto the tree. I held onto the branch for my dear life and felt like I was shaking like a leaf waiting for this thing to go away. My eyes were screwed shut trying to block out the growling of the unnatural beast and I wished so much that I was anywhere other than where I was right now.
After a few moments I managed to reopen them and peak down to the ground where the alligator remained, however it seemed as though alligators could most definitely climb trees. My dangling body was hanging off of a branch which would the alligator would probably be able to get to in a couple of seconds going the speed it was going and I felt bile rise up in my mouth. I was going to die in tree killed by an alligator. I started to wonder if this was some sort of a sick joke conducted by the Game Makers. They knew that I had two choices. I could kill it or I could let it kill me and we both knew which option I was inevitably going to choose. As soon as the creature was about halfway up the trunk, I shifted my position on the branch and gripped onto the end before swinging my body off of the wood and dangling a little before jumping off. Bending down to help absorb some of the pressure, it wasn’t going to be long before the alligator was back so I took my bow from behind my back and loaded an arrow with a shaky hand and prepared myself for when it came back.
And it was like before I could even blink it was starting to get closer and closer. As I continued to back up, the thing just got closer and I shakily let go of the arrow and it instead flew off and hit the tree trunk, nowhere near the alligator. I loaded another one - this one less shaky than the last and I breathed a little to steady myself. If I was going to actually try to kill this thing then I was going to have to try and get a clean shot. I didn’t want it - whatever it was - to suffer. When I let the second arrow go in lodged itself into the body of the alligator but did near nothing to slow it down. It was disheartening and before I could load another, it had opened its jaw wide and went to snap my leg off. I managed to jump out of the way quick enough, but not without it slicing my leg with its razor sharp teeth in the process. The teeth were unnaturally sharp and it was then that I knew that this alligator was no creature of God. With myself on my back, I sat up and pulled my hand axe out and without a second of hesitation I launched my body onto the creature and repeatedly slammed the sharp head into the fishy flesh of the creature until it eventually stopped moving. I dropped the axe the second I had convinced myself it was dead and moved a stray piece of hair out of my eye before standing up to get back the first arrow that missed, and then pulling out the one in the alligator’s body before walking back to the tree and sliding down the trunk slowly, suddenly exhausted by everything I had just experienced.
I wrapped my arms around myself and buried my head in between my knees for a couple of seconds as I leaned against the tree. This couldn’t be real, this couldn’t really be happening to me, could it? I wasn’t equipped anymore to deal with this kind of thing. I didn’t need to know how to survive anymore. Vivvy and Naveen had taken me in so I didn’t have to steal, or scavenge, lie or starve any longer. I prayed every night and gave absolutely everything I had to everyone else because it was the right thing to do. For all I thought, I felt like I had suffered enough. I don’t deserve this I thought as I stood up to dust myself off. I had to keep moving unless I wanted someone to kill me - which I really did not right now. Knowing the the Bloodbath location was still too close for comfort, I headed further south to avoid further contact.

Runaway || Arena || OS
Soon after I put out my fire, I hear some noise. My eyes quickly dart as I take cover behind some trees. When the source of the noise finally appears, I see Sutter with his district partner. The lovebirds walk along the path as I keep my eyes on them. I was in no mood to take them out, especially with Sutter, someone I had gotten along with. I check behind me and make it run for it, between lots one and two and into the forest ahead.
When I finally reach what I hope is safe grounds, I'm panting and breathing heavily. This time, I check my surroundings more adequately to be clear of tributes and mutts. When I feel that I've done a more adequate check, I settle in a small clearing surrounded by trees and shrubbery that could hide me from oncoming tributes.
For now, I take another sip of the sweet tea and rest.

Stained Hands || Arena || OS
After a quick rest, I slowly nodded off. My mind drifts in and out of sleep, my hand still gripping my spear in defense. Finally, I nod off for a bit, catching some Z's when I jerk awake from a nightmare.
The girl from Three, the girl that I had killed, her face appears in my mind. I squeeze my eyes shut to erase the mental image of the young girl's scream as the life left her. I open my eyes, still trying to erase the guilt. I had killed the poor girl who didn't even have a chance to live. But she did come after me first, I try to tell myself. She did arm herself and try to hurt me. What I did was in self-defense. My breathing slows down a bit as my convincing slowly starts to work, my mind tricking itself to absolve the sin that I had committed earlier.
I sigh and lean back on the trunk of a tree, wondering how Delilah was doing. I wonder how Avery is doing... she's probably paired off with Zeke. I smile sadly to myself. I should have tried a little harder and made my feelings to her known. Good for Zeke, though. Went in for the swoop and he got the sweet, kind girl. I shake my head lightly. This was no time nor place to be dwelling on the missed opportunity of what could have been someone that I might have really liked.
Ignoring the weird mixture of feelings of guilt, regret, relief, and who knows what else, I fidget some more to find a comfortable sleeping position, but now, my mind and my eyes remain awake.
