More of the Symphonus family~✨😄
When I saw the screenshot from “The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning” I was reminded how much they resembled the family of sorcerers so I knew a redraw was in order! I had such a fun drawing them in all their poses and the galaxy background~ I feel it really fits them as a family dynamic with Yen Sid lifting them all up on his shoulders in a form of play with his kiddos~ Including Porsha and Julius’s friend Alice! 😁
Here’s the screenshot used for reference!

Not sure if you still exist, but Wardstone Chronicles/Last Apprentice (books) fans, this one's for you.
So, this is a theory that I've been thinking about for a while, and I'd like to hear what you folks think.
The topic of when the books take place has long been one that troubles me. The background of witch trials screams 16th/17th century, but the continued prevalence of what seems to be the Catholic Church in fantasy Lancashire makes that unlikely Equally, it can't be much earlier as the existence of potatoes as a common food item shows that it takes place after the European discovery of the Americas. You must admit, it is strange.
However, I suggest that, rather than the past, the books take place in the future. A distant, post-apocalyptic future to be specific. Not only does this take care of certain historical inconsistencies in the series, but it also explains a few things. For one thing the fact that ice ages seem to be common knowledge, and the notion of the Segantii as a sophisticated precursor civilisation, the real Segantii were a Celtic tribe of no known great advancement.
And, the biggest bit of evidence, to quote 'then the ice came again, and when it retreated, even the shapes of the hills and the names of the towns in the valleys were changed'. Or to put it another way, after an ice age, and we know that the events of the books take place after Golgoth's last outing, the shapes of the hills, including Pendle Hill, which currently is far too steep to climb as easily as the characters in the books are able to*, and the names of towns, like Chippenden or as we call it Chipping, changed.
Now, granted, this idea cuts both ways, the events of the books could also occur in the distant past, a forgotten past. However, the existence of the Greek gods as Old Gods, and knowledge of Greek myth, would dispute this, as, indeed, does the presence of potatoes.
Finally, the clincher, throughout all his life Joseph Delaney was always unwilling to confirm that the books take place in the 1700s, as is often believed. Now, it may be that he considered the events of his books to take place in a fantasy timeline entirely separate to our own, but - again - the 'then the ice came again...' seems to tie the books firmly to the world we know.
*proof of how steep Pendle Hill is, based on my recent trip there

1-6, 9, 12, 16-19, and 23 for the Rocky Road asks, please?
A book you regretted reading
The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Hated it, hated it, hated it. I honestly see no literary merit in it, and I probably shouldn't have finished it because of the kinds of invasive thoughts it was giving me, but it was for school, so I read the whole thing. I really should have asked the teacher if I could do a different book, but instead I just tried to get through it as quickly as possible. My biggest regret in regards to this book is that I asked my mom if I could burn it (she said no), instead of taking it and burning it on my own. I needed the catharsis.
2. A book you couldn’t finish
Most recently, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. If I'd taken five seconds to look at the tags on Goodreads, I would have realized it wasn't going to be the book for me, but alas. Instead I got invested in the characters and read until I couldn't kid myself anymore about the budding romance I didn't want to read, at which point I put the book down.
3. A concept or plot that you thought was squandered in a story
The Dragon's Legacy by Deborah A. Wolf is...not a great book. I could wax eloquent about all the problems I have with her dumb matriarchal desert society, but the biggest shame in that huge waste of time was a really cool idea about these people who have a telepathic bond with big cats. It was a really cool idea, especially when (if I'm remembering right) usually it's only women who can bond with them, but one of the main characters is a boy who manages it. The whole story could have been about that, and it would probably have been much more interesting than the big nothing of a story I slogged through instead that was apparently just setting up the next book.
4. An underutilized setting or world
I am on what is probably a lifelong quest in search of a well-written fantasy based on some Middle Eastern culture. It has to be written well, avoid egregious stereotypes, and capture in some way that particular old-meets-new feeling, that warmth and vitality and history and darkness and light, of the Middle East. All of which is apparently hard to do, because I keep on running into stories written by Westerners who don't seem to have done much research beyond watching Disney's Aladdin. Or it's ruined by an explicit sex scene on like page 5, because that has happened with alarming frequency too :/
5. A character you want to rescue from the story they’re in
I think Kaladin Stormblessed would really benefit from taking a vacation from the Stormlight Archive and getting some intensive therapy :P
6. An author you want to rescue from the story they told
I want to rescue Jack London from The Call of the Wild, which is the one story he's known for. Let's have the world forget about that story for a while and pay attention to the far superior White Fang instead.
9. A character type, plot, or element that you normally don’t like but did like because of the execution
This is probably not what the question is getting at, but it's the one example that's coming to mind right now: The Wheel of Time. There were a lot of characters I couldn't stand as written by Robert Jordan. Like...almost the entire female cast, for one. But then in the last three books, when Brandon Sanderson took over...suddenly I liked them! I ended up crying at the death of one of the characters that annoyed me the most! And that was entirely down to Brandon Sanderson knowing how to write distinct characterization that makes sense and makes you care.
12. A book on hold that you do mean to finish
One day, I will finish The Idiot by Fydoor Dostoevsky. I will! Let's just...ignore how I've been working on it for like half my life at this point >_>
16. A book you hold a grudge against (read or unread)
Fifty Shades of Grey. 'Nuff said.
17. A book that you were spoiled for
I will forever resent Pinterest for spoiling the "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do" moment from Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.
18. A book where you like the adaptation or an element therein better than the book itself
The Maze Runner movies are vastly superior to the books, surprisingly. The movies actually tell a coherent story, all the characters are more believable and proactive, and while there's still some eyebrow-raising things about the plot, it's much more satisfying and compelling. The books are weird, man.
19. A book you don’t really like but have kept for other reasons
I don't really like any of the Ender's Game series other than the first book, but the series should stay together, and I want Ender's Game on my shelf, so the rest of the series is there too :/
23. A highly-hated or derided book you love
I don't know exactly how hated/derided the Jedi Apprentice books are, but just about the only thing I ever hear anyone talking about in relation to them is getting angry at Qui-Gon for leaving Obi-Wan on Melida/Daan during the arc where Obi-Wan leaves the Jedi. Sorry, everyone can die mad about it, because I love that series anyway. Both of their actions make sense in context, mistakes are acknowledged and apologized for and forgiven, and I'll always have a soft spot for those books.

If you have to pick, which vice would you say most represents you? Oh and also which virtue?
For me personally, it's Desire and kindness.
Starting with desire. It's not the regular reason. Though I do request people I know not to use the word Tubular around me. I fear the wording might make me too comfortable.
But it's not the traditional reason why I'm desire.
I want to be a big star. As much as they want to help people. I fear that I'm doing this for reasons that are not entirely selfless.
Honestly. I kind of want one day to be a person that people look up to. I want the video game deals and festivals that are SUPER gets.
I want to interact and be with these people. To celebrate with them.
I digress bit.
My friends and family told me I'm a kind person and that is normal to feel these things. To want appreciation and such. A vice isn't inherently evil.
I'm told my virtue is kindness. Which I hope is correct.
If you want I can also explain some of the other SUPERS
Seven vices and seven virtues.
Elizabeth was a diligent yet greedy. She worked hard for her money.
Uyoga was prideful yet also appreciative. They wanted to be seen as honorable yet also appreciated people around them, hoping everyone could be seen as great.
Winston filled with humility yet also stuck in his ways of sloth. The man never allowed himself a new experience, just twirling hardly on his farm. Yet even after he became a well-renowned celebrity for being the first dry bones. He didn't think any better of himself than he was. A hard-working Koopa troops/ Dry bones.
Alice was Wrathful yet showed restraint. Alice was mad at the world due to her being dealt a poor hand at life. She wanted to get revenge. Yet despite becoming on Mafia Boss. She never really took in any pleasure of vices. She refused to want any of life's pleasures.
Merida was envious but also showed temperance. She wanted what people in her classes had. The better grades, the better car, the better dormitory. Yet she was still appreciative of what she had. It's a bit of a paradox ain't it.
Mario is indulgent yet also charitable. As much as he likes to take part in these big meals and events that celebrate him, he still cares about the community and the people he helps. He loves to give his heart and soul to everyone
Hopefully this answers your question. Take care

Hey! First post, here’s links to the story so far!
We’ll be uploading character reference sheets, art, doodles etc! But if you want to catch up on where we’re at, here you go!! (Links to the blog and story are below!)
To start:
What is Fantasia Symphony of Sorcerers AU/ FSOS AU/ FSOS?
It’s a project made by two people, Aero and Golden. It’s a fanfic that aims to connect up a bunch of Disney universes, taking Fantasia as its central starting point. The plot entails Yen Sid and his apprentices, Mickey, Oswald, Julius, Scout and Golden all facing various threats on their journeys to become Master Sorcerers just like their father before them. They have made various arts about the story, and this tumblr is the next step to bring it to a wider audience, since it is quite niche!
What can I expect from the story?
A mixture of family fluff and angst! It’s got lgbt and straight ships, themes about identity and expression, and a whole lot of links to various cultures and traditions! It also includes a lot of magic and spirit animals that each sorcerer can summon, as well as unique world mythology that will be explored in due time. Mainly, the world of Luminosa (earth) is in a solar system just as our world is, but it’s heralded by many realms, which Yen Sid protects. These realms contain many worlds, but they all share the same sky- one sky, one destiny. On top of this, the main setting is the Kingdom of Lumos, established 1000 years ago. In Lumos, there are various cities and places, such as Fioritura, where the main family live, Nocturne, Ceros, Lega, and many others. There are also people living outside of Lumos, and their stories will be explored later 😉
Who are you two writing it?
Well, there are two writers- Aero and Golden. Aero is quite a bit older than Golden and they’re online friends, Golden can be very shy about her appearance and doesn’t share it online, nor her name. She’s got various names though (Polaris, MarionetteAngie, Yen Sid’s Hat (🤨)) and all with the goal of keeping her identity private (please be considerate of this boundary). Aero is more open, she loves plushies and has a huge collection, and the two have been friends since 2022 when Golden found Aero’s art and they started talking.
Find the cowriters:
Golden: GoldenHeartArt_ on Instagram, MarionetteAngie on YouTube and Tumblr (my further links are found on Insta and Tumblr)
Aero: Aeronautics_Comics on Instagram and Discord
Some essential points:
- Forget everything you know about kingdom hearts and the Disney universe lore-wise. It’s an alternate universe, so emphasis on ALTERNATE, even earth isn’t called earth, but it’s called Luminosa!
- We take pieces of Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and Fantasia: Music Evolved, as well as a billion other things, and basically remix them! 🤭
- “Golden” the character is different to Golden the person (me), same with “Aero” the character being different to Aero my co-writer (who will likely be the one who posts most here!) They’re self inserts, but obviously due to the way the world works, they can be considered pieces of a personality, parts of a whole, which is the humans behind the story, or us.
- We have a soundtrack! Find it here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyD683ZvQYu-RYtRMor6X4nEWnRygNUpR&si=4c57rW3fsn1QKSxD
- The AU was first made on the 29th November 2023, so that’s when we celebrate its anniversary (since it was only published in April but that’s because constructing it took months)
- We also host a monthly (ish) podcast on Golden’s YouTube! It focuses on the behind the scenes of the AU and our general personalities, so please check it out if you want to learn more about the people, well, behind the sorcery! Find it here!
- Please tag us on Instagram or here if you make fanart or fan content!! Just please be respectful, don’t do anything inappropriate or too violent, keep everything safe for anyone under 18, and just be nice with our boundaries, if you need to know anything for my part, I have boundaries on my Instagram highlights (GoldenHeartArt_)
- Be kind to each other, it’s the main theme of the story 🤭
I hope you all love this story as much as we do 💛
- Goldie

https://fantasiasymphonyofsorcerersau.blogspot.com/2024/04/part-2-magic-of-memories.html
A deep dive into the past of two characters, Golden and Scout, and the introduction of everyone’s favorite light man! 💜
The gang celebrate Christmas… after dealing with a Scrooge organ!
Various villains reveal a plot to take over the realms which Yen Sid protects, and Golden unlocks a new power she’s never dreamed of having… and we get some more details about Yen Sid’s life when he was young! 🧡🤭
The gang go on vacation, and meet new friends and threats alike!
The matriarch of all villainy… what an interesting concept. Good thing it’s in the past…right? Also includes Golden’s 10th birthday, marking what is now known as “present time”, since the rest of the story will take place over roughly a year from this point!
A sweet shorter story where one of Yen Sid’s old cohort finds herself in need of help, and the kids are more than happy to assist on this astronomical adventure!
And here’s the iconic cover image, drawn by Golden! We will post so many arts in the future by both of us, so please keep an eye out!

For the Panic Room Twist Fate AU
I made some portraits similar to the ones that the Original Panic Room has for its quests, but changing the frame detail and adding a little symbol. This symbol is related to their state as member of a faction or factionless.
Characters in order:
Puppeteer, symbol Factionless
John Fall, symbol Factionless
Isami Nakamura, symbol Apprentices
Alice Green, symbol Saboteurs
Jack Firewood, symbol Apprentices
James Firewood, symbol Saboteurs
Matt Stubley, symbol Factionless
Bill Gordon, symbol Factionless
I know the game's main detail is the realism, but to draw the detailed realistic version of these will forbid me from ever finishing it.

Rereading The Spook's Mistake, and am kind of wondering how long The Fiend was impersonating Mr. Gilbert?
When I first read it, I assumed he'd only started impersonating him on the day he gave the Spook and Tom the fake letters, but the more I think about it, I wonder if he might have been the Fiend for the whole time.
When we first meet him, he references his son and daughter who help him out sometimes, the daughter we later find out is Morwenna, and the son could refer to any number of abhumans or even Loki. Of course it may be that Mr. Gilbert and the Fiend just happen to have very similar families, but that seems like a bit of a coincidence. Also, when he gives Tom a lift to the mill, it is noted that the food Mr. Gilbert prepared is undercooked, which in retrospect seems like foreshadowing that he isn't used to cooking, and isn't really human.
