That image we all know and love but Ariadne and Dionysus!
+Dialogue

+Serapis and Heiro inclusion because they’re all in the Underworld together anyways.

#they mean a lot to me#serapis is very pretentious#but he likes heiro so it’s fine#ariadne#dionysus#dionysos#serapis#heiro#greek mythology#greek myth art#mythology art#mythology#minoan

To Ariadne and Psyche: while you have had similar question like this before, how was it becoming gods in the way that it's something you never expected of your lives.
What I mean is that I'm pretty sure that becoming gods where never something you thought where gonna happen as playful imaginative children let alone adults just prior to your respective myths, all you assumed is that all you two would ever be where just normal plain princesses never imagining that the statues you looked at would become your future husbands, family and friends. I mean I'm 100% sure that the Ariadne that contemplated helping Theses never expected to yell at Hades of all gods
#Ariadne is assertive when she has to be#and psyche was pretty enough to get noticed by gods xD which honestly#not the worst thing to be noticed#but compared to her and ganymede; psyche had the better outcome#ariadne#psyche#my art#greek mythology

Often rosy Love has clasped Bacchus’s horns, drawing him to his gentle arms, as he lay there. And when wine has soaked Cupid’s drunken wings, he’s stayed, weighed down, a captive of the place. It’s true he quickly shakes out his damp feathers: though still the heart that’s sprinkled by love is hurt.
§1.230
Ah, Bacchus calls to his poet: he helps lovers too, and supports the fire with which he is inflamed.
The frantic Cretan girl wandered the unknown sands, that the waters of tiny sea-borne Dia showed.
Just as she was, from sleep, veiled by her loose robe, barefoot, with her yellow hair unbound, she called, for cruel Theseus, to the unhearing waves, her gentle cheeks wet with tears of shame. She called, and wept as well, but both became her, she was made no less beautiful by her tears. Now striking her sweet breast with her hands, again and again, she cried: ‘That faithless man’s gone: what of me, now? What will happen to me?’ she cried: and the whole shore echoed to the sound of cymbals and frenzied drums. She fainted in terror, her next words were stifled: no sign of blood in her almost lifeless body... ...Now the God in his chariot, wreathed with vines, curbing his team of tigers, with golden reins: the girl’s voice and colour and Theseus all lost: three times she tried to run, three times fear held her back. She shook, like a slender stalk of wheat stirred by the wind, and trembled like a light reed in a marshy pool. To whom the god said: ‘See, I come, more faithful in love: have no fear: Cretan, you’ll be bride to Bacchus. Take the heavens for dowry: be seen as heavenly stars: and guide the anxious sailor often to your Cretan Crown.’ He spoke, and leapt from the chariot, lest she feared his tigers: the sand yielded under his feet: clasped in his arms (she had no power to struggle), he carried her away: all’s easily possible to a god. Some sing ‘O Hymenaeus’, some ‘Bacchus, euhoe!’ So on the sacred bed the god and his bride meet.
§1.520-§1.560
Bacchus you don’t go badly with Venus’s boy.
§3.760
-some lines featuring Dionysus from Ovid's Art of Love that I really like

I love the thought of percy going out of his way to build a relationship with ariadne so when dionysus is pissing him off he’ll just pray to her and maybe sacrifice something to her and she’ll pull up and they’ll both ragebait dionysus by being all close and silly and vaguely flirtatious (to provoke reminders of theseus and ariadne)
#I really just love the idea of percy and ariadne being friends at all#but this specific scenario is just so funny to me#percy jackson#ariadne#dionysus#mr d#pjo hoo toa#headcanon#head canon#hc#percy jackson and the olympians#heroes of olympus#heros of olympus

@amostcuriousmythicist I found some Theseus × Ariadne retellings. I'm putting them here

In this history instead of Theseus being dumb by going after Persephone he's being dumb by going after Ariadne and somehow he never met her during his mission against the Minotaur. Wait, why Dionysus is the one controling the Oracle of Delphi instead of Apollo?

Why call her Ari? And she wasn't under attack when Theseus appeared, that was Eriboea.
@margaretkart not directly about Dionysus
