Hi Pillowfolks! 

How has your summer (or winter) been? Our team is back with a new update! As always, we will be monitoring closely for any unexpected bugs after this release, so please let us know if you run into any.

New Features/Improvements

Premium Subscription Updates -  Per the request of many users, we’ve made a number of updates to creating & editing Premium Subscriptions.

Users can now make credit-only Subscriptions without needing to enter in payment information, if your credit balance can fully cover at least one payment of the features fees.

Users can also now apply a custom portion of their available accrued credit monthly– i.e., if the cost of features is $5.97 every month, you can choose to cover only a portion of the cost of features with your credit. 

Users who have recently canceled a Subscription no longer have to wait until the payment period expires to create a new Subscription. 

To access Pillowfort Premium, click on the  “PF Premium” icon located in the left-hand sidebar. This page will allow you to convert your legacy donations to Pillowfort premium, review & edit your subscriptions, and more. 

Premium Image Upload Limit Increase: Good news! We’ve raised the limit for Premium Image Uploads to 6MB (formerly 4MB), at no extra cost! We may raise the limit further depending on how the subscriptions service performs and how our data fees fare.

Premium Subscription Landing Page & Frames Preview: We improved what users who do not have a Premium Subscription see on the Subscription management page to provide more information about the Premium features available. This includes the ability to preview all premium frames available.

New Premium Frame: We’ve released a new premium avatar frame! We hope you like it. We also have more premium avatar frames in the works that will be released later this month.

Modless / Abandoned Communities Update - Our Developers have made changes to our admin tools to allow our Customer Service Team to be able to change Community Ownership and add/remove Moderators to help revitalize abandoned and modless Communities. We will make a post soon explaining the process for requesting to become a Mod and/or Owner of a Community. 

Bug Fixes/Misc Improvements

Some users were not receiving confirmation e-mails when their Pillowfort Premium Subscription was successfully charged. This should now be fixed.  Please let us know if you are still not receiving those e-mails.

Related to the above bug, some users who were using their credit balance in Subscriptions were not seeing their credit balance being properly updated to reflect the credit used in those Subscriptions. We have now synced these Subscriptions, so you should see a decrease in your account’s credit balance if you are using that credit in a Subscription.

Fixed a bug where users were unable to delete their accounts in certain scenarios.

Fixed bug that displayed errors on the log-in page incorrectly.

Made improvements to how post images load on Pillowfort, to reduce image loading errors and improve efficiency for users with slow web connections.

Fixed a bug causing the checkmark on avatar frame selection in Settings to display improperly.

Terms of Service Update

We have made a small update to our ToS to specify that “deepfakes” and other digitally-altered pornographic images of real people are considered involuntary pornography and thus prohibited.

Self-Plagiarism

If you’ve spent any time in the worlds of academia or content publishing, you have probably heard of plagiarism. The act of copying another’s pre-existing work and passing it off as one’s own is often frowned upon - for good reason. People frequently prefer to be credited for their creations, after all. As such, plagiarists often get penalized upon discovery. [1]

What about copying your own work, though? Like, what if you wrote a thesis for a first year university project and resubmitted it for a different course the next year? Is copying your own work without crediting it to yourself and your previous content ethical? These dilemmas have come up for many people over time. [2]

There are several things to consider when it comes to reusing one’s work multiple times. This article will go over some of them.

Connections

First of all, is there even any way to connect whatever you’re planning to reuse to yourself?

Let’s say you secretly run an art blog. While the blog is public, no one except you and your closest friends know the identity of the blog’s true owner - you. The reason why you’re keeping your ownership of the blog a secret is so that you are more free to post whatever you want there without worrying about employers using your posts there against you.

If you utilize an old drawing you posted on the blog for an art class submission hoping that no one will look it up and find its origins, you’ll almost certainly be considered a plagiarist upon getting caught. 

You could try and defend yourself by claiming that you actually drew it a long time ago, but that would require either revealing your ownership of the blog and risking future employment status or making up screenshots to try and “prove” that your own blog plagiarized you. And why would you do the latter and make your own blog look bad?

Requirements

When it comes to anti-plagiarism rules, different organizations and associations may have slightly different lists. While some will not explicitly forbid copying your own previous work without crediting it, others do. It is important to check your recipient’s requirements first.

The reason why certain people prohibit others from handing their previously made projects from a long time ago to them without crediting it - or sometimes, even at all - is because they don’t want to encourage laziness. They want submitters to actively put in the effort to create new work instead of just copying and pasting.

Sure, it isn’t easy for you to get caught if you copy an old essay you wrote from a college two thousand miles away. But concealed immoral acts aren’t any more moral solely due to their secrecy. The fact is that your teacher/professor/manager in this situation wants you to put in active effort to learn and be truly original. They don’t want you to not absorb anything.

Ambiguity

Finally, there are certain times where you won’t be explicitly told not to reuse your own old projects from the distant past. All that gets said is the standard “don’t copy other people” spiel or “remember to cite properly” talk. [3]

In these cases, you might just be lucky enough to be able to copy your own work from before and submit it with a few tweaks to suit the new assignment. That being said, don’t be too eager to turn your project in instantaneously. 

Depending on your administration and their standards in the past, it may be a good idea to contact them first to clarify their rules before deciding to use your old work again. Also, think of ways to improve your old work as well for your resubmission. Perhaps there’s something in there you cringe at now.

Since I couldn’t post my Fred fic, here is a Draco one I wrote today. I honestly wrote this during my break after a random idea popped into my head. So I’m sorry if it’s not my best work.

Draco protects his secret girlfriend in front of everyone after someone is mean to you. Ravenclaw reader x Draco

Your relationship with Draco was unconventional. You had been secretly dating him for a couple of months now. Both of you had decided it was best to keep it secret for the time being due to both of you running in very much different friend groups. You both wanted to make sure you were hundred percent serious before letting your friends in on your relationship.

Plus the both of you loved the adrenaline and risk of seeing each other is secret. The nights you spent together, bodies intertwined together just like your souls were now. Nights pressed against the walls of the corridors as you both attempted to not get caught in the dark of the night. Hair disheveled, breathing hitched, eyes glossed over with lust.

You were everything and more to him as he loved every detail about you. Completely infatuated with your intelligence and beauty. Intoxicated every time he got to hold you close. He wasn’t perfect, but you didn’t need him to be when you loved every aspect of him.

The rush of being with him was never ending. Your love for each other is indescribable.

It was no secret within your house that you shared a rivalry with a fellow Ravenclaw named Ethan Jacobs. The two of you could not agree on anything or even have a civil discussion. Always looking to outdo each other in any way. Better grades, better marks on exams, being in a professor's good graces. The two of you made anything into a competition against each other. Your conversations were always filled with snarky remarks. Just recently, you had beaten him out for top of your Divination class, which completely enraged him.

He had always known which buttons to hit to irritate you. Although you did your best to ignore him. As well as assure your boyfriend later that you were fine and you can handle an idiot like him. You had been dealing with him with him for years. Which usually stopped Draco from doing something drastic. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t send Goyle and Crabbe after him every once in awhile.

Until one day he took it too far.

This year, Ravenclaw shared Potions class with Slytherin. Which meant you were luckily placed in the same class as Draco. The two of you sent each other secret looks throughout the lesson. Or your hands would brush together when you accidentally grabbed the same ingredients.

“Who can explain to me the ingredients needed to brew amortentia”, Professor Slughorn addressed his class as he paced the room. “How about you Miss (y/l/n)?”

“To brew amortentia the ingredients to add are powdered moonstone, pear dust, peppermint, ashwinder egg, and rose thorn”, you responded with a proud smile.

“Very good Miss (y/l/n)! Prepared as always I see.” Professor Slughorn enthusiastically responded to you. You could hear Ethan mumble something incoherent at the remark. “Now who can tell me what it does? How about you Mr. Jacobs?”

“It’s a love potion that creates a powerful obsession but it doesn’t create true love.”

“Very good.”

“Which is the only way (y/n) could ever get anyone to even look her way.” Ethan added quietly as Slughorn walked away from him. That earned a snicker from one of his annoying friends. It was just low enough to be out of earshot of the Professor but enough for you to hear.

“Can you ever shut your mouth”, you turned around with an eye roll. “You know the rest of us are simply trying to learn here.”

“It’s true though. I mean look at you. Who would ever willingly love someone…no...something like you?”

The room grew uncomfortably silent. This argument was different from the rest.

“That’s enough”, Professor Slughorn finally spoke up.

“Merlin, anyone who would willingly love you must be under some sort of spell. Poor bloke. “ Ethan continued to speak, completely ignoring Professor Slughorn’s direction to stop.

“I know an annoying prat like you isn’t talking.” Draco sneered as he came closer to you and Ethan. Directly placing himself in front of you. You didn’t even have a chance to speak up.

“Stay out of it Malfoy. This doesn’t concern you.”

Draco was now properly mad at the situation. He wasn’t about to let some idiot speak to you like that.

“I’m not going to stay out of it if it’s in regards to my girlfriend.” A shocked expression graced your features. This isn’t how you imagined the school finding out about your boyfriend. But here he was defending you in front of everyone. Your heart swelled with pride and love for him. You grabbed his hand and gave it a slight squeeze.

“I reckon she has you under a love spell mate. Don’t worry, there are antidotes for it.” Ethan’s attempt at a joke only triggered Draco further. For him to even insinuate something so outrageous about you angered him.

Without warning, Draco let go of your hand and grabbed Ethan by his collar and lightly lifted him off the ground.

“If I so much here you’re still bothering her, I will make sure your life is miserable for the rest of your pathetic excuse of an existence.” Draco spoke quietly so the thrashing Ravenclaw was the only one able to hear the threat. Everyone knew Draco Malfoy kept his word. Especially if it was to protect someone he loved.

Draco let go of him, causing him to fall to the ground. Ethan scrambled to scout away from Draco while still on the floor. Fear coursing through his body and that same fear evident in his eyes.

Draco could only smirk and find joy in this. Someone so inferior learning their place brought an unexplainable satisfaction to him.

The class completely enthralled with the scene unfolding before their eyes.

“I apologize Professor for what you have witnessed. You’ll have to excuse us.” Draco didn’t even wait for the shocked Professor to even respond. He grabbed your hand once again and pulled you out of the classroom. He dragged you into another unused classroom.

“Are you okay”, he asked with worry lacing his voice. He grabbed your cheeks and tilted your head up so you were staring directly at him.

“Of course I am. How couldn’t I be when I have someone like you to protect me.” You reached for his cheek as your thumb lightly grazed his jaw. He leaned in and placed a sweet and delicate kiss on your lips.

“I think it’s safe to say everyone knows about us now.” He said as he pulled away from you. Hands long gone from your cheeks as he pulled you in close to his body.

“Doesn’t matter. Now they know who my amazing overprotective boyfriend is. They should be afraid.” You joked as a laugh escaped your lips. The vibrations of your joy jolting his entire body.

“They should be. I’m sure they’ll know what’s coming to them if they do.” He kissed the crown of your head and held you a bit tighter.

“You know I love you right?” You pulled away slightly from his body to look into his eyes.

“You tell me everyday darling.”

“Good. Never forget it.” You placed your head back on his chest. His embrace felt like home to you.

You and Hyoseob have been together for five years now. You have never been with a man like him. Soft, caring, gentleman, loving. Your exes were nothing compared to him. He taught you how someone should actually treat someone they love. At first, you were actually scared to be in a relationship, given that he was basically a celebrity and his schedules would be tight, meaning, you can't always spend time with him. But he proved you wrong. He was proud to be in a relationship with you. He posts you on social media (with your consent, of course), he sometimes brings you to work (even in filming sites, but would ask his manager first if it was okay), and would even write songs about you.

"Hey Hyoseob, I just got off work. Where are you? Can we eat dinner together tonight?"

"Don't go anywhere, baby. I'll be there in a few minutes. I just ordered us some take out food. Let's eat at my house and I can pamper you after, alright?"

In short, he was so in love with you, and sometimes you ask the universe how and why you deserve to be with someone as perfect as him.

On days that you would fight, he'd always be the one to give in. But, when you know that you're wrong, you'd give him a back hug and would apologize and you would both talk it out and try to understand each other.

When he's away on tours and such, he'd always send you voice messages reminding you of the smallest things: eating properly at the right time, telling you to enjoy your day, sleeping at the right time, and more. The smallest actions he did were probably the ones you love about him.

Challenging times in your own life would never go missing. It gets harder when one of you is away. Whenever one of you had a stressful day, you'd invite each other to your apartments and would be there to comfort and pamper one another.

There was one time that you went to his apartment straight after work crying. When he saw your messed-up state, he right away went to you, hugged you, caressed your hair, and told you to wait on the couch. When he got back, he brought your matching fabric headbands, one of his hoodies that was your favorite to wear, and a tub of ice cream for the both of you to eat while you tell him what happened that day. However, if you didn't wanna talk about it, he'd be okay with it and would try to distract you with his hugs and stories.

"Are you sure you don't wanna tell me?" He said, making you nod.

"I'm sorry if I can't tell you right now. It just makes me feel burned out and I wanna just properly spend time with you." You said, pouting and feeling guilty because you couldn't tell your problem right away. He placed the ice cream tub on the coffee table, placing your fabric headband on your head. wearing his after he fixed yours. After that he gave you his hoodie for you to wear. The weather was starting to get chilly too, after all.

"It's alright. Just make sure to tell me when you're comfortable telling it to me, okay?" You nodded and he kissed your forehead.

"I love you, Hyoseob, you're literally the best."

On your third anniversary, you and he travelled and spent five days in Palawan, Philippines. The beach and everything in Palawan took your breath away, not to mention the friendly people you've encountered. There was one instance on that vacation where he decided to rent a speed boat just for you and him. It made you scared at first, since you've never been on a boat before. But he assured you that you'd both be fine.

"What if we sink?! What if-what if-" he didn't let you finish your sentence as he suddenly kissed you, making you shut up.

"We're gonna be okay, love, alright? I'm beside you right now and I'm gonna protect you whatever happens." He said softly, making you nod and kiss him. There was a moment of silence, then he spoke,

"Always remember that I'll be here for you. I'll support you in whatever you wanna do, as long as it makes you happy. Don't you ever think I'll limit you because I know how capable and amazing you are. Okay?" He said, staring at you.

"Okay."

It was finally time for him to enlist. The day both of you dreaded the most. You wouldn't see him for almost two years, but you hoped that when you pass the street, you'd see him as he'll serve as a public service worker. But before he enlisted, he had been working on an EP together with other female artists such as Hayi, whom you've been friends with for a while now due to them recording together.

When the day of the EP release, he gave you an LP copy with a note,

'Some of the songs were based on our relationship- our happiest moments, our ups and downs. Most especially, our love for one another. The next (almost) two years will be tough, since we won't be beside each other, but I promise to be with you when I get to have days off (hopefully). I love you so much!'

Reading this made you tear up and think of what'll happen in the next two years without him. You hugged him while still having tears in your eyes, catching him off guard.

"Don't cry! I'll take back the LP if you continue to cry!" He jokingly told you while he hugged you back, making you giggle.

"I love you. I love you so much, Hyoseob."

The Bourriaud and Gergel readings assigned this week really made me think about ownership and copyright within art and other industries. It became apparent to me that the way that industries view what is considered copyright varies significantly. For example, the Gergel reading discusses Richard Prince, who controversially took screenshots of public account’s Instagram posts and printed them out for profit without their consent or significant alteration to the images. This has been seen as controversial. Yet, in the music industry artists commonly “sample” music from other songs. This is most commonly done in the rap industry. In fact, some sub genres of music within EDM are entirely dedicated to only using prior created music. 

But if we were to compare this to writing this would be an entirely different story. I am writing this post after several other people in my class have already submitted their responses to Tumblr. If I were to copy and paste the response of my classmate, but I changed the font color and added a funny catch phrase at the bottom I would likely be given a stern warning. If I did it again, I might even be sent to the Office of Community Standards and if I continued to do so I could be suspended from the school. But in artistry, there seems to be a gray area for this. From my observations, it appears that the industry tends to favor the “copier” rather than the “original creator.” While some theorists like Bourriaud argue that, “The material they manipulate is no longer primary,” artists like Richard Prince are still able to profit and gain notoriety off of their work (Bourriaud, 7). There are few repercussions within the industry to regulate this. 

Thinking about this more I realized the issue in the art industry. Rap music is able to get away with sampling music because it is done openly and rappers rarely claim a sample as their own. In my example of writing a response above, I could be exempt from any honor code violation if I were to cite my source properly. So long as I do not claim the work to be mine and I correctly name the original creator, then society seems to almost always deem this as okay. I think that this is where art needs to draw the line. Consent and citations are critical for the “reproduction” of art to be ethical. Gergel underscores the former aspect and points out that, “while copyright law concerns the rights of the owner, what about the rights of the subject?” Art has not only offered little protections for creators but also has failed in many ways to protect the rights of the subjects of materials. Issues of this can also be found in Richard Prince’s Instagram artworks.

For my Tumblr share this week I chose to share a comic that discusses plagiarism. In it, the little boy is asking how to cite a source in his paper to an adult who notices that several of the pages of his paper are copied entirely. The adult explains that it is “plagiarism unless you put it in your words,” to which the boy replies, “I did. By coincidence they are exactly the same.” I felt that this comic fits so perfectly into the discussion of whether reproduction of another should be considered not as “plagiarism.” The child’s response to the adult’s concerns feels like the response that many artists would give after being confronted about reproduction in artwork. I think that it points to Bourriaud’s argument that like the boy’s paper, reproduced art forms are no longer “primary” or “original” pieces of art. They are derived and sometimes directly copied from prior work and as such I believe should be cited and give credit to the original creator.

There's an old saying about bad omens coming from kindnesses left unacknowledged. Or there might not be. Who's to say; its a big universe. There should be, at any rate, Boba thinks, and he's had a hell of a kindness dropped into his lap that's been sitting unappreciated for far too long.

While it's true Din didn't personally hand the armor back over to him, he did go to a lot of trouble collecting it from its interim owner. The slaying of a Krayt isn't an easy feat. And all for an old set of armor the man could never have known still had a rightful owner wandering the galaxy.

That kind of dedication and care deserves to be rewarded ten times over.

The problem is Din himself. For a man walking his path in head to toe pure beskar, Din leads a surprisingly frugal and monk-like existence. Boba has recently come into some significant affluence with the take-over of Tatooine's ex-Hut syndicate complete. The short and sweet of it is he has credits to burn and he'd really like it if Din would be a little less frustratingly noble for a second and let Boba repay him.

He likes Din. It isn't just about balancing out his ledger or satisfying an old superstition that may or may not exist. It's rare he encounters someone he respects and genuinely likes as much as Din. It's been so long since he's last had the opportunity or the means to really spoil someone.

And if anyone deserves a little spoiling, its Din.

Maker knows Boba has tried. Din has (politely, always so damn politely) turned his nose up at any and all gifts he's been offered. All the new ships were not his old ship and therefore unsatisfactory. The latest and greatest in weapons also did little to entice him; he seemed dead set on reconstructing his lost weapons cache himself. Something about it being the "honorable" thing to do.

He'd only reluctantly accepted Boba's offer of hospitality because he had no way of getting off-planet himself, having turned down the gift of a ship for the fourth time. And he had promptly ruined that gesture too by insisting on making himself useful around Boba's newly acquired palace, rather than simply enjoying his status as an honored guest.

Karking noble bastard.

It's actually starting to piss Boba off how Din deprives himself. He deserves riches, deserves the world. Deserves pleasure.

Now there's an idea.

One of the benefits of his new title is that everyone trips over themselves to obey his orders. When he barks out a command to clear out, people clear out. The throne room is empty and silent in less than a minute, no questions asked. Shand shoots him a knowing look as she leaves her post by his side and closes the heavy doors behind her.

He hears Din begin to move away from his position behind the throne where he'd been standing, spear in hand, looking suitably menacing.

"Not you, Djarin. We're overdue for a discussion." Boba says, and Din lowers the spear and cocks his helmeted head in that endearing way of his to show he's listening.

"You did me a great kindness in returning my father's armor to me, all those cycles ago, you know." he begins.

Din shrugs it off, as he always does.

"This is the--"

"Yes, yes, 'the way', so you've said. I don't mean to insult your creed or your honor, ner'vod, but you've left me in an awkward position. How can I show you my appreciation when you refuse every attempt?"

Din doesn't respond right away, seems to turn the words over in his head and consider them carefully, finding the best way to reassure Boba that he needs no compensation or thanks for doing what is right, but Boba is done letting Din make excuses.

He gestures the other man to the front of the throne, to stand in front of him. Din goes to kneel, as is customary in front of a king, but Boba flaps his hand at him to stop and then stands himself. It's remarkable that Din, who stands several noticeable inches taller than Boba, can make himself seem so much smaller than he is. Boba frowns at the act of deference; he's made efforts to make it clear he considers Din his equal and they've clearly been ignored.

"Have a seat." Boba steps aside and indicates the throne behind him. He can't see Din's expression but he does pick up on the quiet shocked intake of breath.

"Why?"

"Because I've asked it of you. Please."

For a few seconds Din simply stares him down, and Boba half worries his plan is going to fall apart before it can properly be put into motion. He won't force this on Din, but he dearly hopes he'll be allowed this attempt.

Cautiously, Din perches on the very edge of the throne, the spear placed across his knees. Boba smiles. They've passed the first hurdle. Now to really get down to business.

He moves to stand before Din and pulls his helmet off, enjoying how obviously Din's visor follows the motion. Din still clings to his creed, finds comfort in maintaining his devotion to keeping his face covered in the presence of others. He thinks Din might have originally found his own disregard for the practice a bit jarring, but judging by the way Din tries and fails not to stare, jarring might not be quite the right word for it anymore.

Boba can't see Din's eyes, but he can certainly feel their gaze.

The armor creaks as he goes to his knees and the clank of the helmet being set down on the stone echoes in the silence of the room. Boba looks up at Din and smirks as he notes the man's grip on the spear has tightened to the point where his gloves are squeaking quietly against the metal.

"What is this." Din asks, though it doesn't sound like a question.

"It's an offer." Boba explains, reaching out to take the spear in his own hands. Din releases it without a fight. "One I hope you'll find acceptable, since you've refused everything else."

"Fett--"

"I'm on my knees, Din. I think you can call me Boba."

Din swallows so hard the click of his throat is audible. Boba's smirk stretches into a grin he hopes is still charming, despite his scars.

"Please. Let me show you my gratitude."

Hi, hello, Ghost AU but Rachel, Jasper, Edward, and Henry are all ghosts from different time periods haunting the Society because their final resting places were in the buildings that came before the Society or something, where the Society was started by Robert.

Rachel is a cook/maid from the early Middle Ages who likes to bake at night. The Lodgers are all completely flabbergasted as to why there are tasty meals ready for them that none of the staff Robert hired take credit for.

Jasper is a shepherd from the 2nd century, back when Celtic tribes still lived in England pre-Anglican era. He enjoys tending to the animals, and any Lodgers with pets often find them dozing in piles around an empty circle as if someone were sitting there.

Edward is the youngest of the ghosts, having been murdered during the early Victorian era and had his body buried on the empty plot of land that the Society was later built on. He's an absolute scoundrel and pranks the Lodgers constantly.

Henry was a navy surgeon during the Edwardian era who is absolutely fascinated by Victorian modern medicine and science. He also has a huge crush on Robert and often tries to help him with paperwork and make him tea whenever he falls asleep, leaving Robert very perplexed when everyone keeps asking to meet his 'mysterious yet charming co-founder'.

Robert soon finds the answers to the pranks, the cooking, the animals, and the help by walking into a room while the four are bickering and discovering he can see ghosts. Cue Robert trying to subtly ask Maijabi ghost stuff while trying not to have a breakdown and also not admit that that ghost in the ship surgeon's uniform is kinda cute.

Rachel still loving to cook, yet no matter how much she cooks ingredients never seem to disappear despite warm, tasty (and if not a bit old-fashioned meals) appears for the Lodgers to feast on. No Lodger ever goes hungry and Robert's staff quickly notices that they really don't have to cook as much as they do, as it seems like meals mysteriously appear. Lodgers explain it as the staff being kind but not wanting Robert to know that they cook extra and the staff thinks it's the Lodgers or Robert buying more pre-cooked meals. Maybe she died during a raid on the building she lived in if she worked for nobility.

Jasper being a shepherd and loving to take care of any and all animals, especially the mythological/supernatural ones because they fascinate him. Imagine him having been a werewolf regardless but like that one post about a werewolf shepherd because I love that post. The animals are constantly being fed and pampered and the Lodgers think their pets are being aloof, when in reality they are just getting so much attention from Jasper they almost ignore their actual owners. Maybe Jasper died because of an animal, or because of bad werewolf health care (i know nothing about the 2nd century in England, I don't know how they'd feel about werewolves dhdh)

Edward loving to pull pranks and yet being so fascinated with all the scientific stuff in the Society. He keeps tinkering and messing with the machines and devices and he keeps fucking them up without meaning to, yet he takes credit for having done it intentionally anyways. He loves to move the Lodgers' stuff and steal their shinies and just be a general menace, almost like a poltergeist. Doors opening and closing, windows and glass surface getting broken, he is just a scoundrel that keeps bothering the Lodgers for shits and giggles, literally, as he always will giggle when he has successfully pulled a prank but the Lodgers think it's the wind or someone else giggling. Perhaps he died in a barfight or similarly to Eli, where he got chased by the cops and the Society was where he died, before the building was built?

Henry being so kind and loving and fascinated with science, just like Edward, yet he is much more careful and is more likely to accidentally steal medicine and supplies from the infirmary because he got curious about all the new things and got carried away. Whenever a Lodger gets hurt, it always seems like there conveniently is painkillers, bandages, and disinfectant by them to patch themselves up (or if they, say, gets so hurt that they go unconscious and no one notice, they somehow wake up in the infirmary completely patched up without anyone even knowing that they were hurt). They always feel so much safer and calmer after having gotten hurt because Henry watches over them to make sure they rest properly and take care of themselves. Whenever a Lodger stays up too late, Henry will gently start to nudge them to go to sleep to take care of themselves and just be generally helpful. Plus, him having a major crush on Robert and being absolutely smitten by him. Robert constantly feels watched but not in a scary or uncanny way, it just feels pleasant. Paperwork all being done and neatly documented and stacked and sorted, his office always being clean and neat and tidy no matter how messy he left it, letters from his father that would have upset him to read conveniently goes missing and ahah whoopsies would you look at that it seems like there has been burning paper in the fireplace. Sometimes he will come back and it will look like someone has taken out books or wine bottles from their shelves and started to shuffle through then but he keeps convincing himself that he accidentally left them there. Maybe Henry died because he got infected by a sick patient he treated, and the land where the Society is on is either an old graveyard, an old dock, or a medical ward where he worked when he wasn't out at sea?

Robert getting so accustomed to the supernatural, or him just being born with somewhat of an inherited ability to see ghosts and supernatural (or if the ghost quartet just somehow manage to leave their forms noticeable to Robert when he walks in on them) and Robert realising that the Society is being haunted by not one, but four ghosts while they previously had thought there was only one, if even that. Him having a bit of a breakdown realising he can see ghosts which he definitely shouldn't be able to. Him subtly trying to ask Maijabi-- what if Maijabi already knew but never said anything because he thought it was amusing to see Henry trying to ghostly flirt with Robert and following him like a love-sick puppy? Or if he didn't know because he never bothered to check so he and Robert go on a bit of a ghost hunt. The other Lodgers quickly hearing the rumours and jumping on the opportunity to hold seances and contact the ghosts. Just... Good fucking god I love this so much. Jeks i'm going to platonically kiss you for coming up with this. If you'd ever draw this I'd give you my soul Oh m J gyg dddod,d,d

Your companies had warned you that Dispatch had been keeping an eye on you two, hoping to get incriminating evidence that you two were indeed dating. After, sitting down and properly talking, your managers asked you both what you wanted.

Hongjoong and you looked at each other. You were both afraid, but knew for sure you wanted to go public with the relationship, you wanted to be able to be seen in public together.

"What do you think?" You asked your boyfriend, wanting to make sure he'd be ok with it.

Hongjoong smiled at you as his hand reached for yours.

"If it's ok with you, I'd like to go public about us."

And that's exactly what you two did. A few days later, you were prepared. Knowing full well Dispatch sent photographers your way, you both took a deep breath before linking hands together and walking out the building with your faces exposed. You two even waved and smiled at the cameras, having no fear or shame about your relationship, knowing deep down your fans would be happy and supportive about it.

This all started because a certain idol was hitting on you too much for Seonghwa's liking. You kept telling him you'd take care of it and not to worry about it.

He hugged you from behind and slowly swayed you side to side.

"We'll get through this together ok? Don't worry. Our fans will understand."

Jeong Yunho:

Since the beginning, Yunho wanted to make your relationship public. He adored you and knew Atiny would be ecstatic to know you two were dating. Fans often shipped you two for God's sake.

"I don't know Yunho....." You always told him.

"Why not? Don't you love me enough to let the world know?.......are you ashamed of me?"

You could hear his voice break and it killed you.

"Of course I love you! And I'm proud of you! But I'm scared that it might affect our careers and we'd be forced to leave each other."

Yunho wiped the tears that spilled out from your eyes.

"Nothing will ever break us apart. That's my promise to you." He kissed your forehead and gave you a reassuring smile.

And he spilled the news the only way he could: ANEWZ.

"This just in: there are rumors going around that Jeong Yunho and L/N Y/N are dating....." He looked at the camera and smiled.

"Indeed the rumors are true. "

Kang Yeosang:

Yeosang and you often snuck out at midnight for dates. Sure it was tiring, but seeing each other made you forget about your hectic schedules, the constant shove of cameras in your face, the pressure to be the perfect idols. None of that existed when you two were together. You were just Yeosang and Y/N.

Soon enough, a photo was leaked by a sasaeng. You both woke up to articles about the leak all over the internet. Yeosang quickly went to see you, wanting to make sure you were ok, although he was on the verge of crying too at the thought that you'd be forced to break up.

Karma has its ways though, fans supported you two and condemned the sasaeng for violating your privacy. Fan sites even were created just for the two of you. It was an overwhelming amount of support.

Yeosang couldn't be happier, even if his members liked to tease him about you any chance they got.

"Here's an easy one: what's Yeosang's favorite thing in the whole world?" Yunho asked the question he picked out from the box at one of their fanmeets.

"Y/N?" Wooyoung snickered, making everyone erupt in laughter as Yeosang got embarrassed.

Choi San:

San was another one who didn't felt the need to keep your relationship a secret.

"I wanna show you off to the world!" Was what he often said. But of course, you knew that was only half of the truth.

"And I also want other people to know you're taken and not try to take you away from me like they do." There it was. He was possessive and often wanted to out you two so others wouldn't hit on you so much.

He got the opportunity while he was doing a VLive. He was happily chatting away until a lot of comments kept asking him if you and him were dating, making him confused. He saw his phone and someone sent him a leaked photo of you two kissing on one of your dates. He was shocked to find out this way and didn't know what to say, but gathering his courage, he took a deep breath and finally spoke up:

"Atiny, I have someone to say.... it's true. I am dating Y/N. I fell in love with them and I'm really happy with them.....I hope that you can all understand..."

Comments flooded in, telling him not to apologize and encouraging him about the situation. He started crying at the beautiful messages.

"Thank you so much...you guys really are the best....also let me take this time to say..."

Wiping his tears, he looked dead straight at the camera:

"Y/N is mine so none of you other idols try to take them from me. I know who you are!"

Song Mingi:

Mingi and you tended to be very careful about your relationship. You wanted to just date peacefully without anyone bothering you two or having it become a topic for people discuss. And you thought you took good measures.

Apparently not good enough since an employee at one of your favorite cafes outed you two. They posted a picture of you two.

"This is bad." Mingi tried to remain calm.

"No it's not.....it's inconvenient. But not bad." You tried assuring him.

"Yes it is! What if our companies deny it? What if they force us to break up? What will I do then Y/N? I can't live without you."

You knew you had to be the strong one here for both of you, but you couldn't. You simply held Mingi tightly, sobbing and not wanting to let him go.

Your agencies decided to hold a press conference addressing the rumors about you two. They asked you two to be present, which made you even more afraid. But to your surprise, they confirmed your relationship and threatened legal action against anyone who spread malicious words about you two or violated your privacy.

Mingi and you stood there stunned, wondering if it was a dream or not. But you two were so happy that you could be together after all. You guys waved and smiled at the press, making your first public appearance as a couple.

Jung Wooyoung:

You both adjusted your face masks one more time, making sure that you were unrecognizable.

"How do I look?" Wooyoung asked you as he faced you.

"I don't know. I can't see your face." You snorted.

Even though his face was covered, you could tell he was not pleased with your answer and was giving you his stank face.

"Hahaha, very funny. Now come on. I wanna get there before too many people show up."

The date seemed to run by so smoothly. Since most individuals were wearing masks anyway, no one batted an eyelash at you two or found anything suspicious. You two could sit on a bench and Wooyoung felt comfortable enough to wrap his arm around you. Then you felt him stiffen and release his hold on you.

"Woo? What is it?" You asked him, noticing his shift in behavior.

He didn't answer you but simply stood up and walked over to a man sitting by himself near a fountain. By his walk, you could tell Wooyoung meant business.

"So who sent you? Dispatch?"

The man reddened, thinking he had been sneaky at his attempt to film you two.

Wooyoung smirked.

"I'll make your job easier for you. We'll just tell the public ourselves. That way you can just leave us alone and not stalk us. Have a nice day."

Wooyoung walked back over to you and you asked him what was that about.

"I hope you're ready baby. Cause we're coming out."

Choi Jongho:

It all spilled out cause Jongho had been working as an MC for Music Bank. His co-MC was overly flirty with him, and though he remained unfazed by her gestures, people still decided to ship them together. He absolutely hated it.

"Are you not even a tiny bit upset as well?" He asked you.

"Actually no. I know you only love me and they're just being a thirsty hoe. And it is funny to watch you whine about it." You couldn't help but find his reactions adorable.

Jongho had enough though one VLive when so many people were commenting things about his supposed relationship with said idol.

"Stop asking me how she is. I don't know what she's doing cause I'm not dating her! I'm dating Y/N!"

He gasped when he realized that he outed you two, right in the middle of a VLive.

Your agencies quickly put out a statement, confirming the related and apologizing for Jongho lashing out in anger, saying he was just stressed about things. But fans understood and supported you two.

"I still can't believe you told the whole world." You said to him the next time you saw him.

"Oh relax. Think positive. Now I can hold your hand in public without worrying about cameras."

Author note : Hello ! I hope you’re doing well ♡ I’m super happy to be able to post again, I still need to practice a little bit tell me what you think about this one. I plan to create another série “what kind of significant other are they” but for a lot of fandoms ♡.

The weeping monk aka Lancelot 

Attentive : he tends to be quiet but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t notice. He used to analyze everything in order to catch fey or to fight properly and he uses this quality in your relationship. Meaning he will always know when you are down when you are angry or when you’re lying to him. 

Because he knows that he tries his best to act the proper way in order to help you going through what ever bother you. However despite his sensitive nature, he took him a long time and a lot of works to be able to express his feelings. He was raised to be a weapon to be a man, not some Childs who cried over. Be patient with him it’ll worth it. 

Collected : most of people believe that it’s a cursed  but with him it’s actually a good thing, because he is not very loud, fight are non-existent. 

Not because he doesn’t feel angry (he does) but he wasn’t raised to express his emotion or worst let them take the best of him. He is monk so he knows better than falling for wrath. It took a lot to actually make him angry. In the meantime, being quiet means he is pretty good listener and because of that he alway knows what to do when you’re about to start a fight : because he could remember what you say earlier etc. Since he is attentive when it came to you, it’s all benefit for you. 

Kind : there litteraly nothing he won’t do for you. Not kidding this little baby is touch-starved and he can’t help but thank every divinity fey or not for giving such a wonderful S/O as you are. 

He knows he can be harsh and sometimes he can hurt you with his words, he knows he isn’t very comfortable with physical affection. But he is trying. Because of that he will always take care of you as much as possible, and will always reminds you how much he loves you by small gesture. 

The first time you saw him running into you ready to kill every man and then taking you into a safe place. You knew he was in love and that he cared about you. Most of the time he manifests his love to you by small gesture, a little flower on your desk the next morning, your favorite hot drink, a book that you might be into. Anything who appears to be small gesture but means a lot for you. 

Protective : as I mentionned before, he won’t hesitate to kill anyone who might bother you. For him you far too precious for this world, you’re bringing him peace, your his heaven and there no way someone would take you away from him.

Besides no matter how hard you tried, he still believes that you need protection because the whole world is insane and you’re not ready for that. He also knows that he get a lot of ennemies because of what he did, so he has to be near just in case. No matter how hard you tried, he would always ask you to be careful (and would always have his eyes on you just to be sure). He is aware that betraying the church would give him a lot of ennemies who might try to take you away as an hostage. 

Jealous : he is a possessive man fight me on this. I can see him sending death glare at everyone who might look at you for too long. 

This jealousy came from différents things : First since he is a touch starved baby he wants all your attention on him, he doesn’t want someone to enjoy what he should be the one to experiment. Second he knows that you are out of his league, he doesn’t deserve you you’re a whole light while he is nothing but a shadow. He was blessed by your love for him and there no way he would share this. Third, I can picture him as a primal man, no matter how hard he works to be a monk a good believer, I’m pretty sure deep down there is an alpha.

The green knight Aka Gawain 

Emotional : he might be a strong soldier, one of the best fey’s protector this man is a huge teddy bear. I’m pretty sure he is always touching his S/O : taking their hands, hugs them, kiss them. It’s written on his face he is clingy fight me on this. 

In addition I believe he is pretty sensitive and might feel when something is wrong with you. Each time something happen he will always be here reminding you that he is here, nothing is going to happen, you’re going to be fine. He is pretty easy to read actually although he claims that he can keep secret and anything (which is true) he can’t lie to you. You just have a power on him, he get overwhelmed everytime you’re here. So if he is hiding something all you have to do is to look at him right into his eyes and he would give up. 

Protective : not a surprise. He probably lost his whole family and some of his friends as well so he won’t let something happen to you. 

He might be even difficult than Lancelot, because he can be pretty bossy (especially because he works a lot as a leader) , he will order you to stay at your place and to not leave until it’s very necessary (meaning someone is in your house and you need to run away otherwise it’s never necessary for him). He just can’t loose you, it will break him. Also he tends to be distracted because fo you, you just had this power on him.  

Loving : As I said before the man is clingy, but it’s more than : his eyes are screaming « I love Y/N ». He sweats love. I can’t explain he is vibing his love. 

That’s why he is always close to you, always holding your hand, always kissing you (his kiss my god deep and slow to appreciate every second of it the type to take your breath away). When this man loves he L O V E S. When you’re in private he tends to be pretty clumsy which tends to get well... deeper when you two get intimate. Even when you’re not around people can tell when is thinking about you (99% of the time honestly) I won’t be surprised he is the worship type. 

Romantic : I don’t know he just seems to be the kind of man of taking you into a wood walking together until finding a cute little spot with a river or something. Since he is a fey he feels pretty close to earth in general. He is always spoiling you with meaning gift, like a flower who is supposed to represent love, buying you the book you were always talking about.

Maybe this is just me, but I can totally see him doing those kind of things like dancing with you while looking tenderly at you, always showing you off, writing you letter or anything. He spoils you a lot, anytime he gets the chance to buy something he knows you put interest on he would buy without a second thought. Since he is a fey, he is closed to the nature so he might even craft you something like a flower crown or anything. 

Passionate : I told you when he loves he loves, meaning everything he will do to you, he will do it while being 100% focused on you. He wants to cherish you, praises you, makes you feel like you’re a goddes in every way. 

I said his kiss would take your breath away but so does his smile or his caress, he does with such an intensity. No man had treated you like this before. During intimate moment, he would always whisper sweet things into your ear, worship your body as if you were a divinity. At the end of your session you can’t feel unloved that’s absolutely impossible. 

Merlin 

Tease : that’s how he flirts that’s how he seduces that’s how he shows you he loves you. Although he never does this to be mean, he can’t help but giggle at seeing you being all red from embarrassment or because you’re angry at him. 

Most of the time it’s a cute teasing, but when he wants to fluster you he won’t hesitate to use his skilled tongue to tease the hell out of you until you’re practically begging at him for his attention. Of course he will oblige. It’s just so natural for him that he would do it without even realize that he was teasing you. Most of the time it’s all planned, so he can get your attention without asking you to (he is so proud I swear). 

Jealous : okay so Lancelot is jealous in the primal way but Merlin is on another level. He wants you to be his, he wants everyone to know that you’re taken and he won’t tolerate someone flirting with you or even staring at you. 

Unlike Lancelot, Merlin won’t bother sending death glare instead he will fight them : using his power to trick them or using his silver tongue to make them feel like there nothing. Remember that scene with Lenore ? Where her future husband was talking shit about her ? All he wanted was to throw him a spell. Best believe he would the same to anyone who might be to close to you. You belong to Merlin and only him, also don’t expect him to be kind when you two would be at home after the incident. 

Loving : we saw the way he was looking at Lenore, this man like Gawain vibes love. It’s just written on his face, sometimes it’s cursed cause he is alway afraid someone might use you against him. 

But 99% of the time it’s a blessing, Merlin during his long life has experimented every aspect of love sexual or not. So he knows how to please you, he knows how to caress you, how to kiss you, and he is sucker of your reaction each of them are a piece of heaven for him. He is not as passionate as the green knight but you best believe that every inch of your skin would feel loved (and he doesn’t need to have you under him to do that). He has his way to look at you, anyone even people who never meet him before would noticed how he is into you. 

Secretive : because he loves you and would die for you. He tends to keep a lot of things for himself not that he doesn’t trust you, but in his mind the less you know the better. It’s always a matter of what to do to protect Y/N.

So yeah he would have a secret but will never lie to you, that’s something he can’t do to you. Besides he doesn’t need that he get a pretty skilled tongue and knows what to do to bring another subject instead of answering your question. Since he tends to tease you a lot, all he has to do is to tease you so he would be able to change the subject. At some points you would notice his behavior but since he does that all the time you understood that he might keeps so secret between you two which make you sad. Maybe one day you’ll confront him about it ? 

Shy : believe it or not, but the man still feels some butterflies on his stomach every times he sees you. That’s what make him shy. Because he knows he is falling in love but love can be tricky or dangerous so he is a bit afraid besides he knows he gets some reputation. 

So yeah sometimes he is flustered when he hear you laughing or just sees you smile at him.  He takes him time to admit that he is into you but once he admits it, this shyness will leave for a more playful Merlin.  He was with a lot of people during his life, but he tends to got shy everytime you’re acting “innocent”. When you’re taking him on a walk enjoying any treasure that you got from nature, or just enjoying the simple. One day you were in a city, and some bards where playing around you couldn't help but take his hand to dance with him. That spontaneity never failed to make him feel like a teenager living is first love.
