جدایی نادر از سیمین
Tumblr media
For my culture blog, I watched A Separation (2011), an acclaimed Iranian film directed by Asghar Farhadi. Set in contemporary Iran, the story explores the complexities of family, justice, and morality as a couple’s separation impacts those around them. What struck me was how the film uses everyday life to reflect broader social and cultural tensions—between tradition and modernity, religious duty and personal desire, and individual autonomy within family obligations. These themes were presented with raw authenticity, sparking a new understanding of Persianate cultural values around family, responsibility, and social justice.
Tumblr media
One of the most compelling aspects was how Farhadi shows the importance of honor and reputation. Every character, regardless of class or status, is shaped by societal expectations, yet each also struggles with personal flaws and ambitions. This gave me a fresh perspective on the nuances of Persianate culture, challenging any stereotype of Iranian society as strictly conservative or monolithic. The film portrays a spectrum of beliefs and struggles within the community, capturing the complex humanity behind cultural labels.
Tumblr media
This experience resonated with my own culture, where family reputation and societal expectations similarly intersect with personal aspirations, sometimes creating tensions. Through A Separation, I could see the universality of these challenges across different cultures, highlighting shared human experiences beyond geographical boundaries.

5 Important Future Trends in Cloud Service Module Architecture
Tumblr media
Imagine you built a mobile application for your friend’s online clothing store. It was well designed with easy navigation. Customers started using it and traffic increased day by day. One day, your friend approached you to make additions to the app. The need was to add aseparate section for seasonal collection. He also told you to include personalized recommendations from the preference of the customer. Amazed by the requirement, you sat down and started coding it. But as started implementing, you understood it is not easy to implement the changes. This is because you have built it as one large block of code. Such a large block of code is called a monolith.
You can develop the same app in another way. You can divide the app into smaller independent components. Each component can handle specific tasks. These individual components are the ”microservices”

In a world increasingly defined by digital interactions and virtual realities, the concept of disembodied identity challenges our understanding of self. Imagine a lifewhere your thoughts, emotions and persona exist independently of your physical form.
Having this activity it’s kinda easy for me because I have experienced thisfor how many times but I find myself guilty because I hide my true identity but it was fun, having new friends, new chatmate and maybe a lover. But somehow it’s difficult for mebecause I have a lover right now and I lied to him about this activity. There are somesymbolic markers that I used while doing the disembodied identity. First,language/dialect. The way I chatted with him, I used different languages. Second, myname and my age. I used the name muffin because it’s cute and I lied about my age sothat they would like to talk to me. Lastly, is my place and status. As a person I have aseparate identity from online, the way I represent myself through social media is verydifferent from my offline identity. Through online I am very observant, sensitive, verydramatic and not so talkative while having conversation with my friends or lover, eventhis person I talked to in lit match. In the online world the people I used to talk to are likethey are not true to themselves, I think they are faking it and you need to observe themfirst if they have good or bad intentions to you because sometimes online is not safeanymore. My offline identity: I am very shy of course, the way I care and love people, express my emotions/feelings because offline I think that person is very true tohimself/herself. I am not being judged by them. In doing this activity, for me Isuccessfully constructed a disembodied identity because that person believes that I ambeing true to myself but the truth is I lied everything about myself.
In conclusion, CMC stands for Computer Mediated Communication right?Being a CMC student, the important lessons I gained while doing this activity is to neverfake your identity, communicate well with other people especially your family orrelatives, be true to yourself, because CMC makes our lives easier because ofcomputers and the internet and we can’t live without it.

A Separation. Directed by Asghar Farhadi, 2011.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How can we define what honesty is, if almost everybody lies?
Is the truth even worth pursuing, if everyone is not what they appear to be?
We have laws already in set by religion, the beliefs of our parents. Then why do people still sin, as dictated by the law? Is the law really fair enough for everyone? Or are we just stupid?
What A Separation does with divorce isn’t to give you an answer of what the grounds for it are. It doesn’t even give a valid reason as dictated by their law. Neither does it say that divorce is good or bad. With so many people being thrown into a moral confusion when discussing divorce, should we even spend our time on it considering there are more pressing issues at hand?
But not everyone lives in a happy home. Not everyone earns enough to have a fulfilling family life.
Is honesty the only thing that matters, when we are dragged into situations that can be completely out of our control?
How can we define honesty, if everybody is leading a different life?

#film #movie #moviescenes #cinema #aseparation #cinematography https://www.instagram.com/p/B8pCvlpqaz-/?igshid=1xeujoqa3fbsa

“A Separation”
Tumblr media
The film, A Separation, is about a couple struggling with the decision whether to move out of Iran. The wife, Simin, desperately wants to move out of Iran in hopes of providing her daughter with a better life. However her husband, Nader does not want to move because he wants to take care of his sick father. I can very closely relate to the struggle this couple faced. My father decided to be the first person in my family to move out of Afghanistan in order to get a better education. He told me how hard it was to leave his family in Afghanistan, especially because many of his peers believed his efforts of pursuing an education was useless. I love how this film highlights the bravery required for someone to take the risk of moving away from their home. This film also highlights how much love and strength is required for someone to move in hopes of providing a better life for their loved ones.
In addition, I really appreciate the powerful role Simin has in this film. I love how Simin’s main focus is her daughter’s success. Simin went against her husband’s wish of staying in Iran to take care of his father. Simin did not blindly accept her husband’s wish. In my experience, many middle eastern women are too afraid to speak out against their husbands and follow their own wishes. I love how this film displays a middle eastern woman standing up for her own thoughts. I believe this film encourages other women to stand up for what they know is right, instead of accepting what male figures in their lives tell them to do.
