For better or worse, I'm rather obsessive over wording. I love to include little details and clues that tend to go over everyone's heads. Most of them are only there for my own devilish enjoyment!

Now, I'd like to talk about three specific moments from my Zuko-centric fic For the Spirits (read here!). Two of them are from chapter V, while the last one is a bit more recent, from chapter VIII.

Both lines include ridiculously subtle and obscure subtext that I'm not sure I'll get the chance to explore fully in the fic. So I'm using this excuse to talk about them!

Chapter V: There Was Sun

He was left in silence, the thousands of eyes that lived in his bedroom standing watch over him. He laid down right there, ear pressed to the floor, his back to the door, and clutched his mother's anklet to his chest until the morning came.

Zuko was awoken by the ghost of a caress on his left cheek and the echo of a voice that told stories of dragons and spirits and love.

No matter how things may seem to change, never forget who you are.

Ursa dies and becomes a ghost in this scene—it's not really ambiguous, is it? I always knew Ursa was going to die to protect Zuko in this AU. That scene of Zuko staying behind to spy on Azulon’s edict—instead of running away as he did in canon—was actually what got this whole AU started!

It's a matter of seemingly insignificant divergences that just pile up until the consequences are so massive they impact the rest of the story.

In For the Spirits, Zuko directly hears Azulon’s order to kill him, so he stays awake all night in fear. When Ursa comes to say goodbye, she's confronted with a fully awake child she tries to calm down. It slows her down. It gets her caught. It gets her killed. And Zuko listens as it happens.

The scene I quoted is Ursa's final goodbye, after her death... But there's something else. One tiny, absolutely inconsequential detail that doesn't impact the story itself but I can't help but obsess over anyway.

Did you notice?

Zuko was awoken by the ghost of a caress on his left cheek...

Agni was a beautiful being forever in repentance of some forgotten sin. Forever submitted to the Fire.

Zuko insisted on being alone the first time his bandages were removed.

The mirror was old and cracked, but did its job well, much like everything else on the Wani. Zuko sighed, hands bracing the sink before him in something akin to despair. He breathed in once, twice, before opening his eyes and facing the monster in the mirror.

The first time Zuko saw his scar, he laughed.

It was fitting, he thought, to bear the mark of the flames burning the flesh of a God.

It's Lore Time!

It shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm a sucker for narrative foils. Having a character be Touched (blessed, cursed, all the same) by a godlike spirit is just about the best excuse possible to chuck in as many parallels as one can think of.

That being said, I'm curious. Did you catch it at first read?

The fact that, while Zuko bears a scar from fire, Agni's face is forever burning.

(The first pic isn't supposed to be Agni, but rather Nightmare Zuko from my Perfect Prince comic. You get the idea, though.)

There's something about the imagery of it all, as well as the metaphor expressed masterfully in Zuko himself. Fire is all about the dichotomy. It's about savagery and control. Energy and burn. Gentleness and all-consuming rage. Fire is life. Fire is destruction.

A beautiful face forever burning, forever scarred.

Two halves of the same whole. All things the same.

Chapter VIII: Make You Stay

In chapter II, Ming confessed that she had been one of the Royal Guards assigned to the Agni Kai arena when Zuko was burned. She helped General Iroh get him out of that place and heal him, given that medical attention was prohibited by the Fire Lord. Ming has stayed by Zuko's side ever since, but the Agni Kai still haunts her.

“I was nineteen!” she yelled, slapping the table. “I was nineteen and all I could smell was burnt flesh! That fucking scent still comes back every time I see him. It broke me and it wasn't even me! I wasn't the one who—I wasn't—I was nineteen and I wasn't ready!

When Yoi tells her in chapter VIII that Zuko is planning to go on a suicide mission, she panics and the Agni Kai comes rushing back to her mind.

Something quite interesting happens, though. Not only here, but also later on, during her conversation with Zuko.

See if you can catch it.

Ming felt the cold like never before. It was pumping in her ears, freezing the sweat on her nape, masking the thunder of her chest, tearing at her flesh—at her soul.

Rise and fight, Prince Zuko.

She snapped back into focus and sprinted away from an oblivious Yoi.

She refused to cry in front of Zuko. Not for this. Not after…after…

You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher.

Then so be it.

Zuko stared through her. She looked away.

Then so be it.

Haven't you noticed something a little...odd, about this AU? I mean, besides the spirit shenanigans, obviously. I'm talking about something that's missing. Something pivotal about Zuko's journey that just isn't there. The only word not yet written.

Avatar.

A larger threat, Zuko couldn't be allowed any chance to return to the Fire Nation. Not even a disgraceful mockery of an impossible mission. There's no chasing after the Avatar here. There's no looking for the last airbender (Zuko's previous visits to the Air Temples had a different motivation).

Zuko's banishment was a one-way ticket. And Ming just told us the reason why.

You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher.

(With open eyes and the misdirection of Agni's burning touch over his shoulder, Zuko had no reason to cower. So he stood up. He faced his destiny with honor and resignation. This was a test, wasn't it? Agni's challenge for his child...)

Then so be it.

(That line wasn't Ozai's to deliver.)

"Can I touch you? Is that okay?" maybe for an injured Li Ming?

Not an injured Li Ming but a Li Ming helping an unwell Kai, set a few hours after the ending of the masked city

'Can I touch you? Is that okay?' Kai shivered but nodded. Li Ming checked his forehead with the back of his hand. 'You are feverish.'

'It'll pass,' Kai muttered. He felt sick. His head spun and everything seemed painfully bright, colours turned garish, edges of shapes warping slightly.

'I think the chaos is beginning to get to you more than you are currently able to handle,' Li Ming said. 'We need to treat this before you get worse.'

'I can manage.'

'Your Highness, you couldn't lie to me five years ago, what makes you think that you can lie to me now?' Li Ming sighed. 'You need the chaos bled off or you are going to get worse.'

'It is a mild headache and some nausea. It is probably stress,' Kai said through gritted teeth as he tried to not throw up on Li Ming's feet.

'What did I just say about lying?' Li Ming hauled him to his feet. 'Let us get you comfortable, where are your first aid supplies?'

'Kitchen,' Kai muttered, the room span as he tried to lift his head.

'That's as good of a place as any to do this I suppose,' Li Ming said.

He deposited Kai on the kitchen table, he made to stand but Li Ming glared at him and Kai, knowing that the step that came after a glare was the use of his full name typically followed by telling him to stop whatever it was that he was doing, stayed on the table.

'Above the sink,' Kai said before his teeth clicked together as he shivered. 'Are you making it cold?'

'The fever,' Li Ming opened up the first aid kit and surveyed the contents. 'Miss Winters does not do things by halves, does she?'

'Mm mm,' Kai curled up on his side on the tabletop. He was trying to stop himself from shivering but it was hard, his muscles wouldn't obey him.

'I will get you a blanket and hot tea once this is all finished, okay?' Li Ming grabbed a small pot and filled it with water. He put it on to boil so that he could sterilise the sharpest knife in the kitchen. he sorted through the supplies for an antiseptic solution. There was enough to operate a small field hospital all crammed into a small enough box that it would fit inside of a rucksack. Everything was neatly labeled and wrapped up to keep things sterile. There were plenty of bandages and cotton pads, a packet of pre-filled syringes, labeled with various strengths of painkillers and narcotics, a bottle of witch hazel and another of hydrogen peroxide, enough paracetamol to kill an elephant, a bar of chocolate, a flask of what smelt like brandy and precisely twenty-three safety pins. And much much more.

The best part was the scalpels, all packaged and sealed in plastic to keep them entirely sterile.

'Where do you want me to do this?' He asked. 'Back, chest, or arm?' Kai started rolling up his sleeve. 'Okay,' He turned the hob off, the scalpel didn't need to be boiled clean first.

He helped Kai push his sleeve high up his bicep before bringing over what he needed and sitting at the table.

The gloves that Miss Winters had chosen were bright pink and he released the cuff with a snap around his wrist.

'Do you want something for the pain?' He asked. Kai shook his head and groaned as that made the room spin again. 'Yout Highness, there is no one here that you need to save face in front of.'

'It will make me sleep again,' He said, teeth chattering again. 'That's what he did.'

'Of course,' he. The man who had dragged him off to that infernal Venice and had left him sick with chaos burning through his veins and distorting his world. 'Okay, nothing for the pain. Try not to hold your breath, you will just pass out.'

He pressed the tip of the scalpel to Kai's bicep, it was razor sharp, and with barely the slightest pressure the blade had cut half an inch deep. Kai groaned, clenching his jaw. His eyes shut and his hands curled into fists, but he kept breathing as evenly as he could manage.

'You are doing well,' Li Ming said, the comfort probably meant little. 'This part is going to hurt, okay? I'm sorry but try not to scream, we do not want the police to see this.'

He was mainly joking.

Kai did not scream as Li Ming dragged the scalpel down carving a cut that ran from just below Kai's shoulder to just above his elbow, but outside the sky turned black in seconds, thick grey clouds blotting out any sun and it began to rain. The windowpanes rattled with the force of the rain drumming against it. He could hear it on the roof. Newspapers tomorrow would question the sudden flash floods in Bloomsbury, it was their own fault for burying the river Fleet.

It wasn't blood that ran from Kai's arm, it was far too bright for that. Li Ming had thought Chaos-tinged blood was like that of a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning, a bright cherry red and far thicker than normal.

Chaos-tinged blood did not flow from a cut like normal blood did, there was no steady gush or rhythmic dripping, it oozed in thick rivulets that burnt the skin of a dragon.

Li Ming did his best to wipe it off Kai's arm immediately but he could see his pale skin turning red and purple like there was a fresh bruise.

Kai whimpered as Li Ming wiped more blood away.

'Make it stop,' He whispered. 'It burns,' He knew that he sounded weak.

He was weak.

'It won't be much longer,' Li Ming said. 'You are nearly done.'

'I want it to stop.'

'It can't stop now,' Li Ming stroked Kai's hair. 'We just need to wait for the blood to be clear and then I'll wrap it up. It won't be long.'

'Please,' Kai's eyes were burning.

'Nearly, Your Highness. Nearly done.'

As soon as Kai's cut was bleeding normal blood, dark red, and running freely, Li Ming clamped down on the cut with a cotton pad. That nearly did make Kai scream, the sudden pressure cut through the buzzing, stinging pain for raw chaos on his skin and took him by surprise.

'There we go,' Li Ming said, he quickly wrapped Kai's arm tightly. 'The bleeding should stop soon, I don't think I cut deep enough that you need stitches.' He cursed himself for nothing having thought to bring a blanket in before starting, Kai was still shivering. 'Do not move.'

He had noticed the trunk in the lounge when he had arrived and hoped it contained blankets, he was right and he grabbed the thickest two that there was before hurrying back to find Kai trying to sit up.

'Here,' He knew from experience that trying to force Kai to lie down would not work. He helped him fully upright before bundling him up in the blankets. 'It's done,' He said. 'Kai, it's done.'

'Thank you,' Kai looked and sounded exhausted. 'Thanks.'

'We can wait for the bleeding to stop and then I think you need some rest.'

'I am not going to argue with that.'

Which OC is a chaotic-neutral, if you have one

Oooh, interesting question! :D

The OC that immediately springs to mind is Jois. Probably the best example of all my OCs for chaotic neutrality.

Wallace and Oliver are also two good examples, though Wallace has some true neutral leanings while Oliver can be chaotic evil on his bad days.

Henry and Li Ming are rather chaotic neutral, though I'd argue that their true alignment is lawful good, and are just chaotic neutral due to their unfortunate life circumstances.

Two other OCs that also come to mind are Percy and Serftin, but those two are more chaotic good than neutral.

she hadn't quite realized she was stopped on the main pathway, in the way of those walking — all kai-ming saw was a lovely flower, bloomed towards the sun. the princess had knelt down, crouched in front of the bloom as she detached the small sketchbook she kept attached to her belt. she had begun sketching the flower, fascinated by it's petals. kai-ming noted that she would have to write down the colors, for she planned to add some to the sketch upon returning to her chambers.

it was when she heard footsteps come closer, she realized her mistake. " oh, excuse me ! i'm terribly sorry, i didn't realize . . " the princess shot up in a panic, without sparing as much as a single thought to put anything in her hands away — she smudged the charcoal all over the pale pink skirt she wore. a soft, but exasperated sigh came from her.

To wrap-up this comprehensive summary, I'm rewarding certain shows with special awards, because it's so much fun that way.

Best Writing

Love is Like a Poison (2024) - Ryoma's narration gave the show so much personality, but the most commendable about this show was how it kept getting better and better. The ending was perfect, because it provided the audience with continuity while simultaneously tying all the loose ends. It was not greedy! It understood what the show needed, especially for Haruto's character.

Love for Love's Sake (2024) - The concept of isekai is not new, but this show added its own twists to made it one of a kind. There were great choices made in this. It knew the perfect time to reveal information that would greatly benefit the narrative. Not only that, the show also managed to surprise me by being a mental health advocate. A little fact, this had one of they saddest break-up scenes I've seen last year.

Honorable Mention: My Beautiful Man S1 (2021) - The show provided me so much space for thinking, wondering, appreciating, and understanding of Hira and Kiyoi's relationship. The story had conflicts unique to the characters, and it was overall, so literary. The monologues were my favorite part along with the switching of point-of-views.

Most Beautiful Mis-En-Scene

A Time of Fever (2024) - This show bathed in sunlight! The yellows and oranges are so beautiful, so fitting for the coming-of-age theme, and so perfect for a prequel that's supposed to tell a story of the past. Every location is well-lived. They don't feel like sets, but real places. The camera work is perfect! Each frame is deliberate. There is a quality of intruding that makes all the scenes between Hotae and Donghee so raw. It's just an overall eyecandy.

Honorable Mention: Love for Love's Sake (2024) - The show has one of the best camera works on this list, but I did find it repetitive. Everything else is so pretty though.

Best Scene

Hira's Self-Pleasuring Scene in Episode 1 of My Beautiful Man (2021) - Hear me out! This scene surprised me, almost appalled me, so much. However, after rewatching the show 4 times at least, I grew a profound appreciation for the scene in connection to Hedonism. Hira wasn't even touching himself! He's merely looking at Kiyoi's face and thinking about him. I'll be talking more about it in a post one day, but you've got to give me a chance first.

Haoren and Chihiro's "first kiss" on the boat in Happy of the End (2024) - Well, something about them going on a date, kissing for the "first time," and Haoren telling Chihiro he "wants to die," altered something in my brain. The vulnerability was so loud—I swear I can peek into Haoren's soul if I looked into his eyes long enough. I've never experienced a scene like this before.

Best Official Soundtrack

Re-Move On by Gemini and Fourth - The impact of this OST is undeniable. Not only that, this song is so good! I'm glad they kept the streak of good songs since My School President.

geometric by osage - This song genuinely fit the feeling of Love is Like a Poison, and the sound directors perfectly knew when to play the song at the end. I genuinely see the show flash before my eyes whenever I listen to this song. It sounds like the ending of an adventure. Too bad, it's not talked about enough.

Other technical awards will be added in future lists once I get better at my production classes. Best editing, best script, best score, and everything else are way out of my expertise. I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this first. Here are categories created without much logic, just instincts:

Certificate of Appreciation for Better Sound Design

Love Sea (2024) - After the hell my ears went through in Love in the Air, the company finally improving the audio equipment, and doing a better job at editing the recordings. Listen, it's not perfect, but it's definitely better. Hearing Tongrak and Mahasamut despite the harsh winds, and the lack of actors accidentally touching the microphone again made my ears so happy.

Certificate of Appreciation for Prettiest Kiss

Takara's Treasure (2024) - I've seen better and stronger kisses, but the way Takara kisses Taishin is just so beautiful. They are pretty kissers—visually pleasing lip-lockers. You can almost feel how soft their kiss is through the skin.

Certificate of Appreciation for Cutest Characters

I Hear the Sunspot (2024) - I really love watching Kouhei and Taichi individually the most. They interact with their environment delicately, full of care, understanding, and full of kindness. Both Kouhei and Taichi are very big characters, in my opinion, that's why the show somehow felt underwhelming, because I feel like there were so many unexplored and underexplored areas in their stories. I'm in dire need of a season 2.

Overall Best Show in 2024

Love for Love's Sake (2024) - I only have feelings about this show, not thoughts. The writing, cinematography, acting, chemistry, editing, and message won me over. It's one of those shows that you think about for so long after watching it. If I loved it any less, I might be able to talk about it more.

Watching in 2025

I literally got a iQIYI subscription for Your Sky. I'm also watching Perfect 10 Liners, because nobody told me it's so funny and cute!

I'm looking forward to Ticket to Heaven and Love You, Teacher this year. I hope they meet my expectations, because they both look so promising.

Frequency Chapter 11 Snippet

“Ah, there you are my niece!” Lady Chao’s voice rang across the room. 

They all turned their heads to find Neji and Tenten by the doorway, dressed in matching formal wear. Tenten’s dress was a rich red with a keyhole clasp at her collar, the side slits were high and her muscular legs were on full display as she walked. Her hair was braided, buns were decorated in hair pins and sticks, her ruby earrings were shining bright and she had a matching fan strapped to her wrist. Her makeup was dark, and yet brought out her chocolate eyes that had spects of gold illuminating from them. Her lips glazed with a red pigment.  Neji was sporting a deep merlot top with long sleeves and matching pants. His hair untied with his curse mark covered by a black silk headband. He had his elbow bent as Tenten clenched his bicep, clearly a bit uncomfortable by the amount of people she would have to interact with. The Hyuga’s eyes glanced at his teammate, who lifted his chin in silent understanding. A small smile came to Lee’s face as he watched the two of them be approached by a crowd; they really did look good together. 

Tenten was introduced to many different business men, some of which already knew Neji. They congratulated her on her engagement (She supposed that her aunt had flaunted the news as soon as Tenten had told her when they arrived) into the Hyuga clan and asked Neji about business topics. The Hua shinobi was actually mesmerized as she watched Neji interact with the crowd; he held himself as if he was Lord Hiashi. He was calm, collected, and knew exactly what to say. His charm was spewing from his face, and he even forced a laugh when one of the business partners said something that was only moderately funny. Tenten looked around as they spoke, her friends were mingling as well, her younger cousin sticking by Rock Lee as they walked around. The music had started and people continued to drink and be merry. Dinner was served and they all sat. Tenten and Neji sat with the Hua family at the head of the table, Tenten seated to the right of her Aunt Chao-Xing with Neji to her left. Kai sat on Chao’s right with their parents next to her. Team Kakashi and Lee sat with Haitao, and a few other of Tenten’s cousins (Kai-Ming’s kids who were about sixteen and seventeen). The head of the Hua family raised a toast to her niece for a healthy and prosperous marriage as well as continued success in her shinobi career. After dinner, the mingling continued…a bit too much for Tenten’s liking. She and Neji were getting questions about various topics of if they would relocate to the Land of Rivers? Will Tenten take over the family due to her marriage and being the oldest grandchild? How many children would she have? They’re so fucking nosey…is this really how they talk? So casually? The bunhead answered the questions with very vague responses and a forced smile, the sides of her mouth twitching slightly. Lady Chao had suddenly appeared to whisk Neji away to a group of her other business partners to be introduced to from…the Land of Snow? Tenten wasn’t sure, but she took that as an excuse to pardon herself and hustled over to Lee, who was leaning against the wall on the far side of the room. He greeted her with a bright smile.

“You look beautiful, Ten.”

Tenten returned the smile and stood next to him, leaning against his arm. 

“This is way too much for me.” She murmured. “Neji is better at this than I am.”

Rock Lee offered his arm to her, which she took and rested her cheek against his bicep. 

“Well, it would seem as though Lord Hiashi brings him along to such events often. It is as if he is in his natural element.” 

“I guess,” Tenten hummed as she eyed Neji from across the room. “My aunt is certainly eating him up. I can’t tell who she's happier to see; me or Neji.”

Lee shook his head. “Do not think about it too hard, Lotus.”

“Yeah, yeah.” she groaned. “I’m so tired. So much happened today. I just want to finish my report and sleep.”

The green beast nodded in understanding, between the fire, saving her cousin, and hunting for clues, she deserves a rest. As Tenten began to grumble to herself about how much she couldn’t stand dressing up in such a way for a stupid dinner party, a realization had hit Lee.

“Tenten,” he looked down at her. “You are…allowing me to touch you.”

The brunette looked up at him curiously. She was holding his arm comfortably. Her body hadn’t tensed and she actually craved Lee’s comforting touch. A smile spread wide across his face; he was happy she was returning to herself again. The bunhead rubbed her cheek against his warm bicep; it wasn’t her old self unfortunately, but a new version of herself that still wanted the same things she used to want. The bowl cut shinobi pulled her into a side hug. He mumbled something incoherent to himself and continued to look out into the large crowd with Tenten attached to him. Tenten paid it no mind though, she was people watching. After a moment, she felt a shiver go down her spine and glanced to her far left. Her eyes had locked onto a taller man wearing a black suit, his hair slicked back and he was looking right at her.  She blinked, feeling a bit uncomfortable because she absolutely loathed being stared at. But there was something familiar about his face…

Then, his eyes flashed violet for a split second and changed back into their black disguise. 

Tenten stood at attention, suddenly alert at the man. He finished his conversation with the group before walking over to her. Lee hummed as he noticed his presence. The man with violet eyes bowed slightly to her.

“Lady Hua,” he smiled. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Allow me to introduce myself as well as my fellow colleagues.”

Tenten stared at him hard. Her hesitation was noticed by her teammate next to her. Lee looked at her curiously, wondering why she’s hesitating. A chance…if it’s him. She pursed her lips together. Only one way to find out. The weapons mistress tapped on Lee’s arm, stating that she would return. The man held out his hand to her, to which she slowly slid her fingers onto his palm. A formal touch as he kept his elbow up and led her through the crowd. Rock Lee watched as she walked off with the man, his hand went to his radio.

“I want…to help you, Tenten.” he said. “It seems as though we are looking for similar things; I am hunting down the monsters who killed my best friend…and you are looking for your father’s life work. Am I correct?”

Tenten’s eyebrows pushed downwards on her forehead. How could he have known? Then again, why else would she even be in Takumi Village? There had to be some price to this exchange.

“I think we both can help each other out here…” he continued casually. “That is, if you want my help. You’re a grown young lady, you can make your own decisions.”

The energy in the area shifted. Tenten’s spine tingled as she felt another pair of eyes on her but she didn’t dare to glance beside her. Her pinky twitched, as if something were pulling at it slightly, a chakra source perhaps. She watched as the violet eyed man cocked an eyebrow as she had appeared to be considering his offer. She would be conspiring with a criminal, technically. However, this was her father’s best friend. His story seemed to have checked out, although she still found it unsettling that he had cornered her cousin. Behind him, Tenten could see a figure leaning against a tree not too far from their current location. Her attention only slightly wavered as she brushed it off and used her fan to cover her mouth.

“I am going to take your hesitation as an acknowledgement that we are being watched.”

Tenten’s eyes grew wide as she looked at him. 

“You are very intelligent for that. It seems as though you may not trust your bodyguard either. Good, trust no one.” Akaji smiled in amusement. “I think we will get along well.”

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a sealing tag. The characters were written in bright red ink that intrigued the weapons mistress. She plucked it from his fingers and eyed it. His name was at the center of the seal. Just as she is able to transport weapons from her storage through her seals, people can use seals to transport themselves. Like the fourth Hokage, Minato was able to “teleport” using the seals on his kunai and transport himself quickly once they were planted in the desired location. 

“You can summon a clone of me, or send me things. There are multiple ways to use this seal as you already know.” he shoved his hands into his pockets. “I will be looking forward to hearing from you, Lady Tenten.”

Akaji finally pivoted his body to face the figure behind him. The weapons mistress nearly gasped at his sudden action.

“I almost didn’t notice you there. You are quite the ANBU.” 

The figure stepped forward and Tenten pursed her lips together. He was there the whole time? How did he know I was out here?  The ANBU’s white and blue mask flashed as he got closer. The beak of the bird represented more present and detailed. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his black shinobi pants, he relaxed his stance.

“This conversation has been dragging on…wouldn’t you say, Lady Hua?”

Tenten’s eyebrows arched in concern but nodded. “R…right.”

Akaji chuckled and lifted his chin to the ANBU.  “For such a talented kunoichi, I am very surprised you have such a bodyguard…his chakra feels too aggressive for you, my dear.”

Tenten could almost imagine the look behind that mask. He had made himself known on purpose as a threat to Akaji. Dragging this conversation on further would cause some suspicion of her whereabouts sooner or later, she supposed. Especially since she had many people to mingle with while her aunt showed her off to everyone. 

“If you find me aggressive, then you really have no idea what you’re really in for.” the ANBU replied.

The weapons mistress held back a chuckle; he was referring to her own chakra. Tenten had spent years building her chakra and attempting to learn how to better control it. She was still a bit low on that end, but she had chakra that was comparable to Gai when he summoned his inner gates. 

“Before this turns into some bitch fight,” she finally spoke. “I will consider it. Now, I must return to the event.”

Akaji nodded, still amused and curious about the agent behind him. “I will be awaiting your call then.”

With a swift hand sign, Akaji figure disappeared into a pile of ash. The two shinobi stared at the remains for a moment. He is very talented with his clones, Tenten thought. Her gaze shifted to the ANBU.
