'cold' vs 'warm' vs 'lukewarm' reads

cold read--only clues i've got going into the recording are the summary and the tags. best for the live-react if unscripted responses are preferred

warm read--i read the og fic recently and know exactly what to expect and when. best if audience wants more focus on the story and less on my first impressions and thought tangents

lukewarm read- i read the og fic sometime ago (perhaps bookmarked it to read again? lol) and before recording i might remember the vibes and that i enjoyed it before but not much else. so it's like a cold read but with extra anticipation. i like this setup best for long fics and wips so i don't get overly invested in a painfully complicated ending

A-> well. first of all. in the privacy of your own mind. think whatever you like! [ fyi. my blog is just 3 yrs old and i've had the same username the entire time ]

i provide no clear direction typically bc i like it when other ppl are involved in deciding what my nickname from them is. this is true irl but especially in online spaces for me. idk. feels more personal that way? like. i chose my formal use name. feels sad to have to chose what is supposed to be a sign of affection and closeness in usage between friends. if that makes sense?

i have heard ppl say 'xiao' and 'xiaokuer' most often and also seen 'xks' in chat. does that answer your question?

tl;dr: to me, my username translates as 'queer little butterfly' but like. i'm working off some college classes, some light internet research and tv dramas so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

B of all. i generally think of my tumblr/online persona as 'xks' or 🌈🦋 

with the rainbow being blatant queer symbolism ofc. like. i am genderqueer and neurospicy lol and also my sexuality is decidedly not hetero. so. i am many flavors of queer. 

and i'm using the butterfly as a representation of hope in the sense of it being symbolic of a healing personal transformation from a time of stress and trauma and a struggle for growth. into a simpler time of a life containing beauty and joy

hello! i hope this post finds you well !(^o^)!

so, it depends!!! (ps. this might be interesting to you-- my podfic journal post)

some context. i had read the mawiiish fic we connected thru before. a long time ago. and i'm tumblr mutuals with the author so it was easy to get permission to record that fic. and thus easy to get excited about it (which is very important to the creative process of a person with executive dysfunction and task avoidant behavior lol)

i started off with the intention of only podding things i had read before. like i thought it would be more comfortable for me to read something known and familiar. and i have so many favorite stories that i want to share with my fandom friends!!!

but then i did a cold read (no prev exposure) of an original work for a friend. and that was lots of fun! and now anytime i get an ao3 notif of a new work by a favorite author. i'm like... podfic this? 🤔🤔🤔 my ao3 bookmarks has a personal tag now called 'i wanna podfic this' and there's so. many. things.

lol I will never run out of things to record. and my list is constantly growing! and the top priorities to record shift based on. my energy levels. the amount of accessible privacy to record (spicy/nsfw things especially). which blorbos i'm hyperfixating on at the moment i am ready to record. if the author is hands off and uninvolved (understandable and totally valid but not very inspiring for me personally) or if an author or commenter is hyping me up (lol as you know). how much i wanna know what happens next in the fic. etc

and i'm working on a few gift podfics for creators who were/are very inspiring to me or irl friends who are very dear to me but i'm too broke to buy presents for and too physically disabled/just plain clumsy to handicraft for yk. and so a personalized podfic seems like a sweet treat yeah? and those are a mix of fics-i've-read-before. and cold reads. some are for fandoms i'm not even in!

so to answer your question. they are all live reactions! (no editing lol. i hit record, i read and allow myself to share my thoughts. and then i listen to it as i release it to the wild! (post on tumblr and ao3). and hope for that sweet sweet audience interaction (kudos & comments)
