Tick Tock
Oh, wouldn’t he laugh. I’ll have to tell him what I overheard. ‘A scream from the barrow! The soul of some long-dead woman haunting her resting place, begging for release...’
I mean, one of those things might have been true...

It would be a lie to say Raserei was above the racial tensions that have grown in Skyrim, at least with the Altmer. The golden-skinned elves made his jaw tighten a little whenever he saw one.
He knew they weren’t all to blame for the current state of things, and surely not all of them give a damn about Talos worship, and to be honest, Talos wasn’t his main god of worship, but he was also one you gave praise to as a Nord. Even if you were a Nord originally from Bruma.
Still, he did his best to hold reservation until he spoke to one; he didn’t want to sound or even be compared to UIfric and rhetoric he has been preaching on about.
So when he noticed one of the tall elves near the gates of Whiterun the Nord could only imagine the growing panic and unease among the guards. He wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t scrambling to Jorrvasker in hopes one of the Companions would deal with it to help up with this ever failing neutrality Bulgruff wished to keep.
“Hail!” Raserei called out, “We don’t see Altmer out this way too often; can I ask why you are here?”
The large man had been on his way to Jorrvasker to pick his daughter; a kindness he was glad the those who worked there offered him when he was away on jobs.

“U-um...” The Khajiit swallowed, ears flicking back as his eyes darted to the ground, lingering over the worn cobblestone and the blades of grass that attempted to retake the road. He forcefully blew out the air in his lungs, seeming to take some of that roiling anxiety out with it, rubbing over his forehead.
“H...he’s a good teacher, n’ I learn a lot from him, but...” J’hasi let out another huff of breath, fidgeting in place.
“Hist...he...he terrifies me. I can’t tell if he’s blind or what, but he always seems to know exactly when I screw something up or say something stupid and...” He shook his head, inwardly cursing at himself for just the thought of the Altmer was making his hands shake.
“I-I don’t know if it’s because of what he taught, or that eerie prickling feeling I get around him, or what, but... It’s like he pays attention to every little move I make and uses it against me when he’s not happy about something. ...usually my spellcasting.” Although that time he and Icarus had escalated a fight to more than just hissed words in class and was subjected to cleaning up the cadavers after dismissal certainly would’ve been more than enough reason...

[Astarill/Mithra]

Today made for a prime example of your typical Skyrim springtime weather. It was a fine morning, when he left Solitude. A bit windy, certainly, and overcast, but otherwise pleasant. It had deigned to stay that way for most of his journey. It was the last half mile when the sky split and came pissing down with all it had.
On the bright side, it wasn’t snowing. Yet. That’d come after sundown, no doubt.
It was only a short walk from the coach to the inn, but it had left him drenched. He left his cloak on a hook by the door. More people trickled in for shelter from the downpour. Soon, seats would be a rare commodity. He’d better secure one now. There. A table with only one occupant, and a miniature library worth of paper littered around. Well, if he was going to sit out the weather, he might as well do so somewhere interesting. To be readily welcomed was a surprise, but he didn’t miss a beat.
“I need only a chair. You can keep the whole table. Rest assured–” He fabricated a brief, reserved smile, gesturing toward his eyes, “I can’t peek at your work.”
She stopped rearranging her papers to look up at him again as he spoke. It was rude to stare, she knew that, and she quickly averted her eyes. Between the initial glance she had given him and tidying up some of her mess, she hadn’t noticed anything different about him.
“Honestly, I’d gladly have let you have a look. It feels like I’ve read myself blind. I’d give just about anything for a second brain to pick right about now,” she replied with a small laugh, brushing a brown lock of hair behind her ear.
She didn’t want to bother him with her problems, so chose not to divulge any more than that at the moment. After all, he’d come over here to sit down, not to hear her prattle on about her research and future expeditions.

I’ve heard some of theother apprentices talking about him and his courses. They sound interesting. Ithought about taking one myself, but it wouldn’t be of much use to me.
Maybe I’ll get achance to speak to him when he’s not busy.

A new diner opens up near the Boardwalk, looking completely normal from the outside. But the workers that lie within are anything but. Fairies seemed silly to the group of vampires that become regular patrons of the establishment. They were stuff of fairy tales, stories for putting children to sleep at night. What happens when they are anything but fairy tales and are just as real as they are?

IN CHARACTER:
Desired Skeleton: Crimson Assassin Full Name: Elora Astaril Age: 27 Date of Birth: 7th June 1991 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Residence: The Palace Occupation: Assassin Species: Inhabitant Affiliation: Crimson Faceclaim: Poppy Drayton
Biography:
Violetta and Trito never meant to hurt anyone. They had been living a perfectly normal life with their three children, and they were perfectly content. They travelled a lot, and lived out of a cart. It was hardly the ideal way to live, but for them they had everything they needed there, and anything they didn’t have, they could soon find in the land. It wasn’t a grand life, but it was a happy life. But they mostly only travelled in Tulgey, and soon the horrors of the Panic came. They tried to travel quickly, but the old cart could only move so quickly, and even after throwing out everything, it was still too slow. That was how it came to be, that they realised that to save themselves and their children, someone had to be left behind.
Elora was the youngest, and at the time she was suffering from an illness. Only a cold, but it felt easier to give her up, and save her two older brothers who had a better understanding of what was going on.  She was told to go and find some fire wood, and that her family would meet her at a location an hour later. But she did the one thing they told her not to do, and she turned around to see the cart leaving, with the rest of her family leaving. Although young, even she realised that she had been left behind. She had learnt enough from her brothers to be able to fight her way out of scraps, and so she focused on somehow just staying alive. Her family had abandoned her, and so she stopped thinking about them. If they weren’t interested in her then she saw no reason to be hung up on them.
And so it was, that Elora survived. She learnt to steal food when she was hungry, and learnt to hide when there was danger. There was a few who tried to harm her, but they never really got very far with it. Then the day came that Gideon appeared, and suddenly the monsters she had spent so long hiding from were gone. She only went to the coronation to see the man that had risen up against the things her nightmares were made of. She wasn’t expecting anything to come of it, and yet she still fought her way through the dense crowd to see the man. She hadn’t expected him to even see her, let alone pull her from the crowd and take her back to the palace.
It was a different world from the one she was used to. Instead of sleeping in holes, or under tables, there was a proper bed, and proper food instead of the scraps that she had stolen. The whole thing felt like a dream. But she was still young, and still fairly small, especially compared to some who walked around the palace. She didn’t really understand why the King had been worried about this, but the defence lessons started, and oddly she found herself enjoying them far more than anything else. She didn’t even realise how good she was, she thought that people were taking it easy on her because she was young, but it soon became evident that they weren’t.
For years her life was training and she didn’t really realise what it was for, until one day the King came to her with a strange request. He wanted to keep Wonderland safe, and it seemed the biggest threat was Alice. She had heard all the stories about the girl, and though the request sounded odd to her, she went. The realm Alice lived in was a strange place, metal horses and strange boxes people spoke into. But one thing that wasn’t different was the weather, and as a storm started, she realised she could use it to her advantage. Knocking on the door she begged for shelter. Alice being Alice, gave her the shelter, and having heard all of the stories in Wonderland about the woman, she was under no doubt she had found the right person. But there were children in the house. She wasn’t too worried about destroying their innocence, she had lost hers when she was younger, she was more worried they could cause a commotion if they saw their mother die. That wasn’t what she needed. So instead she waited, waited until night final fell and there were no sounds in the house before she went into Alice’s bedroom. She had no qualms with doing the deed, the King had told her that this woman risked Wonderland’s safety and this was the man who had saved it all those years before. Still, she had heard the stories, and so used a poison, pouring it through the woman’s sleeping lips. Painless, but effective. She didn’t wait to the life drain out of the woman, the poison would do it work. Instead she simply slipped out of the house and back to Wonderland. Even if anyone did believe the children about her being there, she knew they would never be able to find her again.
It was the first time that Elora had killed for the King, but it would not be the last. Silently getting the job done, with no one aware it was her. It became almost an art form. However in the palace she has become almost invisible. No longer fighting to survive, but instead appearing calm and collected. If anyone does even notice her, they simply assume she is a serving girl, and she will always go along with whatever it is that they ask of her. Outside the palace she is rarely noticed, normally just assumed to be a local girl if anyone does even wonder about it. If it means that Wonderland and, more importantly, the King are safe, then she doesn’t mind living in the shadows. She has heard the whispers of rebellion in the castle, but as far as she can see, the King saved her life, and now she owes it to him to protect his. As for the people she’s killed, she hasn’t lost any sleep over them.

Letter by Letter
@astarill
My Dearest Friend,
I hope this letter finds you well, and somewhere that isn’t currently being drenched in miserable rain despite the calendar, I’m quite certain, heralding summer. It’s been good for our garden, but difficult for getting business done otherwise, especially for travelling to Riften as often as we have been.
You see, we’ve finally taken the risk of expanding some of our business there. It’s a bit tricky – old Elgrim is a cantankerous bastard – but even he acknowledges there are problems he doesn’t care to deal with, that we can address. Our pest poisons are doing particularly well. I do advise you, should you visit Riften, stay away from the River Betty Bunkhouse. You pay out the nose for better, but from what I’ve sold to that Innkeep you’re like to lose a toe to a rat in your sleep.
I’ve also developed a good business relationship with a local hunter. Burly, doesn’t talk much, doesn’t take shit. You’d like him. Asked if I needed the ‘barbs of a sabre cat’s dick for some sad sack who can’t get it up’, I believe it was, when I first approached him. It’s nice to have a good supply of antlers and teeth, and Haelga’s fair taken with him. They’ve ‘knocked boots’ more than once, over the past year. It’s nice to see her not just withering away, locked up in a cottage full of dusty old vials and – well, a dusty old woman.
In fact, Haelga has really grown into her own as an alchemist this year, not to mention as a businesswoman. It was her idea to approach the locals inns about pest control. I’m exceedingly proud of her – frankly, she’s more hardworking and clever than half the students were in Winterhold. How goes your own teaching endeavors? I hope you haven’t endured too much exposure to nobility. Tends to numb the brain something awful.
To put it simply, all is well here. At times I crave a little adventure, but the occasional trip to Riften offers a nice change of pace when necessary. I am as content as I can be, if desperately in need of a lay. Can’t help but giggle every time I pass the barrow, even now, and honey always tastes a little sweeter when I think of you.
I know better than to fill this letter with the thousands of questions I’d like to. You’ll share as you feel appropriate, I think. I’ll just have to remember any particularly burning ones for the next time we meet in person.
I miss you terribly. Give my best to your family, and write back soon.
