you're so real for wanting hibino kafka genfic. like man i would love to be a white haired anime boy who is met with a very comforting man at work with a solid build who helps me get through my first shift.

Kafka is such an interesting and lovely character to me like he's so silly but has so much depth and is so thoughtful and he's putting in the work to achieve his goals and dreams!!!

And I genuinely have nothing against the popular ships but i personally just don't give a rip and while it's nothing new to come into a fandom and see that content runs ship heavy it does make me sad to see less genfic of characters I love. Shipping is good for exploring character dynamics but it seems to happen almost at the exclusion of standalone or platonic character exploration

(plus several of my recent hyperfix fandoms had a loooot more room for exploring bonds other than romantic so I've gotten spoiled having more options 😭😭)

but I will say that in this au Weirdmageddon happens earlier and bill tricks dipper into breaking the rift instead (with his bare hands, the silly lil guy). Oh and when dipper broke it, the glass kinda exploded in his hands and made this gash on his hands. The intergalactic goo(???) inside the rift poured into the wound, which cannot be good for him, haha. Wonder if that has anything to do with the other two drawings, hehehe

And if I told you this ask has held a grip on me for a while it would be underestimation.

I saw a previous post about a Fire Emblem G/T server. I was thinking I wanna join in cause I’m in a Discord server similar to this, just centered on a different game series, but I don’t know how.

Is the server still up?

So technically yes, it still is! It's just become more of a general friend server now, though, so I'm not really that comfortable adding anyone else. Sorry!

Dungeon Meshi fans stop woobifying Japanese people and realize that just because something is probably (not confirmed in the world of Dungeon Meshi ftr!!!) a cultural norm, doesn't mean that it's excusable and suddenly ok for someone to uphold it if it harms other people. I mean, we're not ok with how elves generally act, right? Doesn't mean we forgive Marcille for defending the propaganda she was given in her upbringing.

Also, Toshiro/ Shuro isn't the only Japanese character in the show/ manga, but he sure is the only one who acts the way he does. So, is it /really/ because of Japanese stoicism (that we're assuming is canon to the world) or is it something else?

I'm not coddling him or excusing him at all, and generally I empathize much more with Laios's side of the confrontation as someone on the adhd/autism spectrum myself

Also I don't think it's uncommon knowledge that in Japanese it is common to employ the "soft" no, gently refusing interactions or invitations so as not to offend versus with a flat "no". I have little doubt that Toshiro used many of these, which in his culture are just as blatant as saying "no thanks" but with Laios, who is not accustomed to that culture, he didn't recognize most of those for what they were

The conflict between Toshiro and Laios is multifaceted and I won't pretend it isn't. I am not fucking woobifying a character by acknowledging the cultural and societal influences at play here. If you want to find a more "x is wrong y is right" conflict go read or watch some shonen or shojo instead of a seinen series
