или как Ла-Дра сказала «поехали» и перестала притворяться земной ящерицей

Где-то между Землёй и условной чёрной дырой, в засекреченном Центре подготовки космодраконов №042, проходила ускоренный курс молодая (по галактическим меркам) драконица по имени Ла-Дра.

Она мечтала о космосе.

Не потому что там звёзды — хотя они, конечно, секси. А потому что Земля ей осточертела.

Все вокруг говорили:

— Терпи, адаптируйся.

— Найди себя в пределах атмосферы.

— Дракон должен быть приземлённым.

А она хотела невесомости.

Каждое утро в Центре начиналось с фразы «Добро пожаловать в реальность. Ты – не ты, пока не прошёл центрифугу».

Потом были беговые дорожки, тренировки с нулевой гравитацией и психологические тесты в духе:

«Что вы будете делать, если вас начнёт разъедать одиночество на орбите?»

(Правильный ответ: «Обниму себя хвостом и включу Гагарина».)

А он там, между прочим, звучал везде — как святая мантра, записанная на старой аудиоплёнке.

— Поехали!

Это не просто старт. Это диагноз.

Если ты говоришь «поехали» — ты готов. Не к полёту. К переменам.

Потому что космос — он не где-то там. Он начинается в тот момент, когда ты решаешь перестать ходить по кругу, ждать одобрения старших драконов и откладывать жизнь до лучших времён.

Ла-Дра сдала все экзамены. И вместо того чтобы сфоткаться с дипломом и вернуться в родное гнездо, она тайком пробралась на стартовую платформу.

Вмонтировала себе в шлем старые наушники.

Посмотрела на звёзды.

И шепнула, совсем не героически, а с ухмылкой:

— Поехали, блин.

И улетела.

С тех пор на стене Центра висит её фотография — в старом скафандре, с двумя когтистыми пальцами, сложенными в знак победы.

Некоторые новички думают, что это маскот.

А старшие просто улыбаются. Потому что знают:

те, кто действительно готовы к космосу, никогда не просят разрешения.

or how La-Dra said “Let’s go” and stopped pretending to be a down-to-earth lizard

Somewhere between Earth and a moderately polite black hole, hidden from public maps, was the Dragonaut Training Center No. 042 — a place where young, overly curious dragonkin were whipped into something resembling astronauts.

La-Dra was one of them.

She didn’t dream of stars because they were pretty — although, let’s be honest, they were a bit sexy.

She just couldn’t stand Earth anymore.

Everyone around kept telling her:

— Be realistic.

— Find yourself within the atmosphere.

— A dragon must stay grounded.

But she wanted zero gravity.

She wanted out.

Each day at the center started with the same lovely phrase:

“Welcome to reality. You’re not truly yourself until you’ve survived the centrifuge.”

Then came endless treadmill runs, zero-G simulations, and psychological tests like:

“What will you do if loneliness eats you alive in orbit?”

(The correct answer: “Wrap myself in my tail and play Gagarin on repeat.”)

And yes — Gagarin’s voice was everywhere.

Old, analog, full of cosmic static:

— “Poyekhali!”

(“Let’s go!”)

But it wasn’t just a launch command.

It was a dare.

Because space doesn’t start out there.

It begins the moment you stop orbiting your own fears, waiting for approval from elder dragons, and putting off life “until the timing is right.”

La-Dra passed all her exams.

But instead of posing with her diploma and going back to her cliffside cave, she snuck onto the launch pad.

Plugged old headphones into her helmet.

Looked up at the stars.

And muttered — not dramatically, but with that grin of someone who’s absolutely done with everyone’s crap:

— Let’s go, damn it.

And took off.

Now her photo hangs on the training center’s wall — in a scratched-up orange suit, fingers flashing a victory sign, tail curled like a question mark.

Some newbies think she’s the mascot.

But the instructors just smile.

Because they know:

Those truly ready for space never ask for permission.

Fulcrum Fighters:(Very) Short Summary

   Ah, Fulcrum Fighters, my oldest active D&D campaign. Though it is only a few months old, right around three, it has a lot of heart and distinct character to it. I’ve practically thrown all standard lore of the D&D verse out the window and rewrote it all. Fulcrum Fighters is also my first campaign using my fully reworked game mechanics. 

   FF has a sister campaign that I will be starting soon. It is call Harbingers. Harbingers is an evil run while FF is a hero run. Both taking place in the same verse and relatively the same time. The two can and will end up interacting with one other at some point.

   FF has 3 players. Each of them having their own strengths, weaknesses and wonderful personalities to the table. They have also created some interesting characters for the world as well. The team composition is made up (so far) of a Lvl 4 Druid, Lvl 4 Wizard and a Lvl 4 Ranger. None of them have spect’d into any other classes yet and haven’t really looked into doing so. Looks like they’re gonna be pure class babies. 

   They are currently on a side quest to gain money, exp and loot. They are close to finishing it, but next session is gonna be rough for the team. Lots of fighting, mini boss fight(s) and a boss fight. They will have a chance to “right things” in this area of the Ignus Strip or choose not to. They could also choose to talk with an ancient force and discover things. That is should they actually talk to the entity in question or just allow it to return to it’s slumber.

   They also met quite a few NPCs and (two of) the members have taken it upon themselves to make their Ragner’s partner, Magnus (P.Dragon) dream come true of becoming like an Astrodragon. Magnus is like an edge teenager with a whole lot of attitude with a soft spot for his mom and the stars.

   Next session things will really get fired up, I’m still trying to figure out what to write as an off screen happenings. I know I love it when Disaster Master does those types of things. I think it’ll happen after they beat the boss and exit Dragon’s Head (an old abandoned Kobold village). After Ram and I’ersh head out after assisting them in the fight. 

   I think it will be... wonderful. Specifically with how other things will be going down for the group. Next time I’ll write about my rule changes for how my D&D works or about the Lore of the world or with more detailed descriptions of player characters and what has happened so far.
