Hey, how do you feel about that one trope where a character is hurt/sick and another one runs themselves ragged until they’re also sick but can’t show that they don’t feel well because they’re supposed to be the caretaker, the protector?

How do you feel about that trope with tRuby and tViking?

Especially if you combine it with Nav induced headaches.

OHHHMYGOD. genuinely one of my fav tropes and i have been going insane abt it in the background since last lore stream. because like- it's so easy for viking to try and prop himself up, he doesn't have it "as bad", he's the one that's got everything under control, ruby needs help. he's not the one that's dying.

besides... it's likely viking didn't have anyone to support him when he lost his arm. sapphire said he's running from something, he's scared of being backstabbed or manipulated, and it sounds like he didnt really have anybody before meeting ruby. viking knows what it's like to go through the worst pain in your life and fight your way through recovery with no one to catch you when you stumble and backslide, and he's not going to let ruby go through that.

(besides. he would be a pretty lousy brother if he did, right?)

he's going to buckle eventually, though. by the time ruby's feeling better and the wounds left from sapphire's possession have... well, not fully healed, but have gotten "less worse", viking's probably teetering on the edge of collapse himself. he's barely slept, his head is killing him, and there's a constant pressure in the back of his head he can't shake. ruby notices. ruby helps.

viking complains, of course. he appreciates ruby's help, but c'mon, he's got this, ze does so much for him anyway, it's fiiiine.

ruby looks at viking and thinks about the warnings navigator told zem. don't let him hurt anyone. don't let him kill you. don't let him break you. right now, it's hard to imagine him doing any of that.

(ruby doesn't remember the other thing navigator said, about how viking doesn't care if anything dies. sapphire does, though, and she appreciates the irony.)

hai 🦈 !!!! i guess for this my favorite iroma thought is the idea of ita caring for roma, being mainly just the “functional” in terms of handling most affairs. (<- loves younger brother taking care of older brother/role reversal. no bias here. totally. totally. t) i do like to think that this troubles roma a lot but they don’t exactly know to properly address or talk about their issues with each other so it’s still awkward between them. i enjoy ita trying to cheer up roma the best he can as well too ☺️ very cute!!!!
