Motivational Monday

Hey guys!

Sorry that my motivational post went up a little later than expected, so I thought I'd post it now. Better late than never. I had a lot on my plate with it being day 2 of #nanowrimo as well as some personal stuff in my life.

Also, I decided to participate in a couple writing challenges this year to help keep me motivated and on track for the writing month. I am participating in the #NaNoLifeChallenge as well as the #NaNoOrNot21 challenge on IG and the #TheMerryWriter hashtag game over on Twitter. So I will be posting more frequently during this month, then hopefully go back to my regular posting schedule next month.

Hello Fam! Welcome to Day 9 of the #spooktoberchallenge2019. Today's Prompt is Local Haunting Story. While I don't have a local haunting story, I've always been intrigued about The Winchester House is located in San Jose, California. nds. The house was the brainchild of Sarah Winchester, heir by marriage to the Winchester firearms fortune, and since the project began in 1884 rumors have swirled about the construction, the inhabitants, and the seemingly endless maze that sits at 525 South Winchester. Today, the house is known as the Winchester Mystery House, but at the time of its construction, it was simply Sarah Winchester’s House. Sarah Winchester was the widow of William Wirt Winchester, heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Though the exact specifics remain between Sarah Winchester and her medium, the story goes that the medium was able to channel dearly departed William, who advised Sarah to leave her home in New Haven, Connecticut, and head west to California. As far as what to do with her money, William answered that too; she was to use the fortune to build a home for the spirits of those who had fallen victim to Winchester rifles, lest she be haunted by them for the rest of her life. Today’s prompt for #WriterFriendsChallenge is “Writer Rest”. December is the perfect time of the year for rest. I’ve basically been grinding all year. I’ve written two books and revised another and been in and out of the query trenches. So, to say the least, I’m exhausted. To wind down, I’ll admit that I love to watch holiday films. I adore the classics like “Miracle on 34th St.” and “Holiday Inn”, but I also swoon over movies like “While You Were Sleeping” and “The Holiday”. I’m also a sappy fan of Hallmark movies. The one pictured here is not from Hallmark but has become one of my favorites year after year. Super sweet. Romantic. And this one hits the trifecta with an air of mystery to it. As of late, I recommend Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods 3. Taurus 4 Just Mercy (I took my son and daughter to see it in the theatre and couldn’t hold back the tide of emotion.) 5. There’s something appealing about all four seasons, but there’s something to be said about the essence of spring. Colors play a big role in my imagination, so the rebirth of green grass and blooming of flowers pleases the senses and lights a fire under my creativity. I could spend evenings on continual repeat just walking through neighborhoods of budding trees and tulips poking from the dormant soil. 6. A photo journalist. The marriage between text and pictures can be quite powerful. JANUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 28 ✨ What are you currently listening to? So this is actually one of my favorite writing playlists, it’s the Space Album by Sleeping At Last but I only have the instrumental on here.
