Daughters with Soft Underbellies

Chapter Ten: a world inside a world
tw: none
Grand Hollow is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
It scars the land. Morphs it into some unrecognizable jungle littered with buildings that tower higher than any church you’ve ever laid eyes on. The ground vanishes underneath stone blocks and wood boards, leaving Jester’s hooves to pop! along the streets as you keep close to your little group of outlaws.
Many of the stores you pass sport large windows to show off merchandise fancier than any you’ve ever seen, such as watches made of pure silver and hats from freshly trapped varmints. There are young boys standing on street corners shouting about newspapers or other goods, or strange folk in even stranger clothes attempting to sell bottles of what you think you heard them call snake oil.
You don’t think you could ever make out your daddy’s steeple through this mess.
The air smells different here. It’s thicker than Penmosa’s atmosphere—darker. Thin columns of black smoke rise high into the air in the distance, reaching far enough to stain Heaven’s basement with coal dust and human filth. There are kinder aromas that attempt to stave off the grime of horses and automation. Strong liquor pours through some saloons and hotels you pass by, and there’s something sickeningly sweet about the tailor's shop on the other side of the street.
Sweat slicks your palms, bleeding into the leather reigns you grasp. You have never seen so many people in your life—not shoved into the confines of a city like this. Eyes wander, lips curl, mouths greet. Swallowing, you ensure your mother’s necklace is tucked safely inside your blouse.
“Your eyes look like they’re about to pop out of your skull, Lamb,” Kyle teases.
Looking to your side, you see him casually leaning back in his saddle as he leads Bear with one hand. His aura is cool—collected. While you’ve been panicking the moment you’ve crossed this new threshold, he’s only seemed to relax.
“This is all… I don’t even have the word to describe it,” you admit, eyes flickering back to focus on the road before you.
“Grand?” he chuckles. “It’s not quite as big as London, so it was an easy adjustment for us, but I imagine it might be a bit much for someone like you… no offence.”
“None taken. You’re right, after all,” you laugh nervously. “Mr. Beckett would always tell me stories about places like this. Things he heard from travelers and such. None of it comes close to experiencing it for yourself.”
“And there’s plenty to experience here. Shows, parks, libraries.”
“Libraries?” you repeat. “I didn’t think those were real.”
Kyle snickers, white teeth flashing between his lips as he shakes his head. “Oh, they’re real alright. If the human brain can cook it up, it’ll exist here in Grand Hollow.”
Deep in the heart of this jungle, sitting proud on the corner of a large city block, lies The Twin Rose Hotel. Just like every other building in this city, it towers over all of God’s creatures with glistening windows and chestnut bricks. A balcony on the second floor looks down upon the streets with an excellent view of the city park just across the way, and hanging above that on the face of the wall is the building’s name. Squinting, you’re able to make out odd, small glass bulbs that line the lettering.
Small metal poles dot the sidewalk around the hotel, staining the ground with the protrusion. John hops off his horse and hitches him to it, and everyone else follows to do the same. A pang shoots through your feet as you dismount, not used to the hard surface of the streets. Your thighs feel numb from countless hours of riding, and you do your best to stretch your hips out as you tie Jester to the metal hitching post next to Bear. Just as you knot it, you realize you can make out a small horse symbol etched into the iron. Even though this city seems so advanced, they still hold a place for the antiquated ways of cowboys.
“Right then,” John speaks up. All ears in the vicinity perk at the clamor of his voice. He stands with his shoulders squaring backwards and his thumbs looped behind his belt buckle. “Mind your manners, boys.”
Walking into The Twin Rose is even more of a culture shock than the entirety of Grand Hollow has been. Glistening crystal chandeliers hang high above your head, filling what appears to be the cleanest saloon you’ve ever seen with a warm, saffron glow. The floors are made of waxed wood that don’t have so much as a dent on them, and various tables lay around the room in polkadot-like fashion. A crowd of gentlemen sit at a round table, chuckling over full plates and bottles of beer, and a man in a silk top hat plucks away at a standing piano just next to the mouth of a wide staircase.
Toward the back of the room lies a bar. There are no stools to sit on, but a young woman with thin lips busies herself with cleaning her mixing supplies. Sconces line the walls, leaving nothing unilluminated, yet you can’t keep yourself from squinting at them.
“How do they keep the oil in all of these?” you whisper.
Kyle attempts to stifle his chuckle. “They’re lightbulbs, love. They run on electricity.”
Lightbulbs. You remember hearing about their creation when you were a kid. It was all anyone could talk about when every paper in the country slapped it on the front page. The great Thomas Edison had invented light that could be held in the palm of your hand. Of course, your poor little town of Penmosa never got to see such a feat, stuck with using oil lamps and campfires, you could only ever dream of witnessing such magic. Your father abhors the idea of it. He says it’s unnatural—ungodly and impetuous.
How could God hate something so beautiful?
John leads everyone up to the bar, weaving through tables with heavy feet. He crosses his arms and keeps his head low as he kindly greets the barmaid. Grey eyes look him up and down, seemingly unimpressed, before her gaze wanders over everyone else. She doesn’t even look intimidated by Riley’s stature and the bandana that covers his face. Suddenly, you find your pulse rising. The closest thing you’ve had to a proper bath in the last few weeks was that thunderstorm that rolled in before you hit Little Wood—you’re sure you look less than presentable.
“Can I help you?” she asks, voice dull.
“I need to speak with Laswell,” John says.
She raises an eyebrow, but doesn’t seem surprised. “Who’s asking?”
“John Price.”
The woman’s head quirks, and you think you might even see a slight smirk on her lips. She places her items down on the bar top before motioning for everyone to follow her. You’re led through a door marked private that brings you to a long hallway with several doors. The barmaid breezes by most of them before coming to a stop at the very end of the hallway. A terrible squeak accompanies the door opening, and through the threshold you’re able to see a large, rectangular table with several chairs to sit in.
“Take a seat. Laswell will be with you in a minute,” the barmaid instructs.
You find yourself squeezed between John and Kyle as everyone melts into their seats with a sigh. Red wallpaper adorns every inch of the room in a deep scarlet that soaks up the illumination from the sconces. Beautiful paintings in thick, mahogany frames dot the walls as decor, but the room is too tenebrous for you to fully tell what they are. You can vaguely make out a beautiful Arabian horse in one, and snow capped mountains in another, but your eyes strain too great to peer at them in detail.
Soap leans so far in his chair that his neck rests on the backboard, and his feet brush against yours, though you don’t say anything about the intrusion. “I hope we’re invited over for dinner.”
“Enjoying Lottie’s cooking and then having a proper bed to sleep in does sound nice,” Kyle hums in agreement.
“There’s still a lot of work to do, boys,” John reminds them.
Huffing, Soap straightens himself out in his seat. “Aye, but we’re allowed to have a little fun every now and then, aren’t we?”
Before anyone can comment further, the door swings open, then quickly clicks shut. A woman with a stern face enters the room, and she is the strangest lady you think you’ve ever seen. Her cream blouse is pressed so that it’s pristine and free of wrinkles, and her sleeves are rolled up to her elbows as if she was caught doing manual labor. Instead of a skirt to accompany it, she dons a pair of black dress pants with matching shoes. Her dirty blonde hair is pulled back into a bun, leaving only her fringe to cover her forehead and the sides of her face. For a long moment, she stands at the head of the table with her hands on her hips where she gets a good look at everyone seated in front of her before humming and taking a seat.
“Never thought I’d see any of you ever again,” she says bluntly. “Last I knew, John Price and his posse had vanished further West where the land is wild and the laws are rare.”
“You know we couldn’t stay away forever, Laswell,” John smiles.
“Yeah, not with all that unfinished business you have in Blackpeak.” The air grows tense. Palpable with hesitation. The oddly dressed woman pauses a moment to let her eyes fall on you, and you find your breath catching in your throat. She scrutinizes you—soaks up every inch of you. She doesn’t look away from you when she continues to speak. “I see you’ve got a new member to this… posse, of yours.”
John looks at you, eyes cold and face impossible to read. “She’s just cargo.”
Laswell hums. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Your mouth grows dryer than any desert Mr. Beckett has ever told you about in all his tall tales. John nods in encouragement, and your answer tumbles off of your tongue like a freshly jellied calf.
“But we all just call her Lamb,” Soap interjects with a grin.
“Where are you from, Lamb?” the woman asks.
“Penmosa.” You answer her question as if you’re unsure—as if you don’t know if you’re right or not.
“Penmosa?” she repeats. “You’re an awfully long way from home. What brings you out here?”
Nervosity chews at the flesh of your ankles as your hands fall into your lap, fingers twiddling. Is this the part where you ask for help? Where you bare your father’s sins for some stranger to see—to sully his name? Eyes shifting, you look to John, who casually leans back in his chair as he raps his fingers against the tabletop.
“Her daddy’s got a bad temper,” he explains simply.
“Right. Cargo.” Laswell crosses her arms before glancing around the table once more. “You boys are damn near drooling on my table. If you were hungry, you could’ve asked.”
“Well, we didn’t want to impose,” Kyle explains, though his grin bleeds into his words.
“You know better than to play coy with me, Garrick,” she teases. Her chair scrapes across the floor as she stands to her feet. The sconce behind her sends a diffused ray of light around her—she looks powerful. Unlike any other woman you’ve ever seen. “I’ll have the kitchen cook us some lunch, then we’ll see about arrangements. Lamb, how does a bath sound?”
Surprised to hear her address you directly, you nearly jump out of your seat. “A bath? Well… that sounds fine.”
“Good. We’ll get you fed, then while you’re bathing, the men and I can talk business. Sit tight, I’ll be back.”
It does not take Laswell long to return with two maids following along behind her in red dresses. They each push a small trolley of sorts, with large plates of food and pitchers of water jittering along the metal cart as they station it alongside the table. You eye platters of rolls, chicken, smoked ham, mashed potatoes, and a large gravy boat. Dainty hands place the delicate dishes on the table buffet style before handing everyone a fresh, rose designed porcelain plate. Then, they vanish behind the door, leaving everyone to their meal.
Honey glistens off of the ham in an enticing amber color that the boys waste no time diving into, flesh peeling like the tender skin of an orange. Rolls are passed around, as well as the saltiest butter you’ve ever tasted in your life, and you find your stomach growling after the first bite. You try to recall when the last time you had a proper meal was. When you put something other than hardtack and dried meat into your body.
It was the night you left, you realize. When you promised your father you would find the change that ripped out of your apron. Your throat closes up the moment you recall the way his hand kissed your cheek, and you drown your discomfort away with a sip of water. Algid liquid hits your teeth and makes you grimace—there’s ice in your cup. You don’t think you’ve ever seen such a thing before.
Conversation comes easy for everyone at the table except for you. John and Laswell murmur to one another in low tones while stabbing the meat from their plates with silver forks. Their eyes shift in unison, both of them on high alert as if anyone at the table might suddenly turn feral and nip at them. Riley and Soap are having some sort of disagreement, and Kyle isn’t helping with how he throws his two cents in so that they only get more riled up with one another.
So, you’re left to sit. And sit. Silverware scraping against your empty plate, you face the bitter realization that this is the final stop for you. No more trekking through the wilderness with strange men who carry large bounties. No more long nights by a tall fire. You would hate to admit that you had gotten comfortable with them, but they were at least familiar. Now, you’re going to be dumped here. Left to wander in a strange town—a terrifying and intimidating new world—and John Price will be nothing more than a forgotten memory.
After all, you’re only cargo.
“Lamb?”
Head snapping up from the scraps of your meal, you look at Laswell, who’s leaning forward in her chair with her elbows on the table. You realize you can’t quite read her as well as you can most other people. There is no tell in the corner of her lip like there is with Kyle, or a sly illumination in the depths of John’s cyanotic eyes. She simply speaks, and her tone implores you to listen.
“Yes ma’am?”
“You finished with your food?” she asks.
You nod, sharp and stiff. “Yes, it was lovely, thank you.”
Laswell stands from the table, black dress pants riding up on her waist as she does. “Let’s get you in that bath, then.”
You’re allowed to fetch your carpet bag from Jester before you’re brought up to the second floor. The chatter of well dressed patrons and their drunken games fades to white noise as Laswell leads you down tenebrous hallways marked with swirling vine and rose patterned wallpaper. Everything about this building is rich, from the sienna of the brick it’s built with, to the sconces that hold electricity in the very palm of its hands.
As you clutch your bag closer to your chest—and all your pitiful belongings with it—you try not to feel like a walking stain in the establishment.
“I can’t thank you enough for taking me in,” you blurt out suddenly. Unable to hold your tongue still, you swallow down the aftertaste of peppered mash before continuing. “John says you take in—well—troubled girls like me. That you’d give me a job, or at least help me find one.”
“It’s what we do around here, darling.” Her reply is short and curt, though not impolite. Laswell’s feet stop just in front of a door with a gilded knob and the word bath engraved into rich wood. She quickly gestures to the door before her hands fall back to her sides. “Feel free to use all the amenities. And take your time. It’ll take me a bit to get all the fine details ironed out with John.”
Nodding, you thank her once more before slipping behind the door into what you can only assume is a whole other world. That’s all Grand Hollow seems to be—pockets of universes shoved inside one another. Endless doors stuck in a vast maze waiting for you to open so that they can fill you with veneration.
There is a single lamp (at least, that’s what you think they are called—that interesting decor that looks like an oil lamp but with a shade and ten times bigger) that sits on a table just by the window, yet it’s more dim compared to the other electric light sources you’ve seen so far. The blinds are drawn, casting the room in darkness, but the shadows morph and dance on the walls as freshly lit candles sit on various surfaces throughout the room.
The bathtub is larger than any other you’ve seen before. Clawed feet rest on the floor as it holds steaming water, and when you tread close you notice the distinct scent of rose. Upon closer inspection, you notice a few vermillion petals floating on the surface. A smile graces your lips.
You think you might like it here.
Before you undress, you seat yourself at the vanity. Its stool is plush, composed of thick velvet that envelopes your rum with comfort infinitely greater than Jester’s saddle ever does. It takes you more time than you’d care to admit to detangle your hair, but you know it’s well overdue for a wash, and life on the road hasn’t been treating any part of your body too well. Stripping yourself of your overdress and chemise, you slowly lower yourself into the tub while trying not to hiss at the near scalding water.
As you rest with your back propped and limbs limp, everything fades away. The grime that nestles between your toes, the ache and sores between your thighs, the faint scars on your knuckles. Even the bitter memories of your father. It dissolves into the water to swirl around the rose petals that you toy with. Pure silk against your fingertips, you raise one to your nose and sniff. It’s sweeter than molasses—you’ve just eaten lunch and your mouth is already watering.
A myriad of oils and soaps line the small side table next to you. You take turns picking each of the bars up and wetting them with your hands to feel the suds on your skin. Each one smells divine. Meadow grass in summer, petrichor in spring, Mama’s rolls in autumn—
—there’s a knock.
For a moment, you almost think it’s her; your mother. She’s playing the knocking game again. Tapping on the wall that leads to your bedroom. Letting you know she’s still alive, that her tuberculosis hasn’t consumed her quite yet. It’s easy to fall into delusion when you’re enveloped by something so warm and so gentle—something that (for once) doesn’t have teeth.
That thin shred of your imagination vanishes the moment a figure bursts through the door without even bothering to hear your answer. Though you know you should not be surprised to see John Price standing before you, you still are. Door clicking behind him, the gravity of the situation hits you, and you find yourself desperately attempting to save your dignity. Arms crossing over your breasts, thighs pressing together to hide your sex, your eyes widen as you sink further into the water.
“John!” you shriek. “What are you…”
Whatever malice laced confusion you harbor dies in your throat the moment you watch as his thick fingers reach up towards his neck. Then, one by one, he begins to undo the buttons of his shirt. Thick swirling hair sprouts between the fabric, and you’re left to gawk at the debauched display that is presenting itself to you.
Unbothered, John untucks his shirt from his trousers before tossing it onto the floor next to your chemise, leaving him bare chested. If this were any other occasion, you’d be scandalized at such a gesture—his linens mixing with yours—but you find yourself infinitely more concerned with the odd twinkle in his eye.
“You don’t mind if I join you for a moment, do you, love?”

My best guess of how the severance chip works
This is how I think the severance chip works.
Warning: Long and slightly technical.
The severed area has a radio transmitter sending a location-code. There is also a main command tower sending encoded messages to all chips in its range.

The severance chip itself has a radio receiver (but no transmitter) for receiving both the location codes and commands.
Its only output is some sort of signal to the subject's brain. I'll call it the Brain Function Altering (BFA) signal, which can say to the brain "go innie," "go outie," and possibly to go into other states, such as being knocked out. It is what causes the memories to be severed, and the two consciousnesses are created by the severing of memories. This is the show's commentary about how our memories make us who we are.
There's a logic processor to interpret the radio messages and decide what BFA signal to generate.
The BFA signal generator is the most sci-fi part of this. I don't think (as a layman; I'm not a neuroscientist) that separating memories this cleanly will ever be possible.
The rest is feasible with today's technology. (I'm not sure about battery life, but apart from that.)

Spatially dictated severance and overrides
(I wrote a version of this in an earlier comment)
Spatially dictated just means the chip has software to detect where it is (by detecting the location code) and internal logic to 'go innie' whenever it receives a particular location code.
For example, in season 1 episode 1, Helly keeps trying to leave through the door. The switching from Helly to Helena and back is automated: the chip is in charge of detecting when to switch. Graynor doesn't need to watch her and manually push a button in synch with her leaving and returning.
But he can push a button that says "ignore location while you receive this signal." You can override the location logic using various manual controls, which are sent from the command tower with a specific person's chip as the intended recipient. It would likely start with "all chips except [Helena's Chip ID], ignore the rest of this message." Because if you beam that signal out, every chip can receive it.
OTC and Glasgow block are just two such overrides.
Notice that OTC is made intentionally difficult to do (hold down two switches), because they don't want to accidentally trigger it and have a bunch of innies roaming the world, spilling secrets. Lumon wouldn't even know where they were and so there would be no way to contain them.
On the ORTBO, the Dieter Eagan National Park needs to have a Lumon tower transmitting a location-specific signal. (Which is very possible. The birthing retreat might have had a portable tower.) Every severance chip there would detect the location code and 'go innie', except Helena's, which has the override.
Settings for different subjects' chips
Lumon would probably want to be able to specify the locations where each severed person "goes innie."
If Gabriela Arteta went to Lumon's severed floor, would she turn into Gabby?
If oMark had gone with Devon to Gabby's cabin at the birthing retreat, would he have become iMark?
I'm guessing Lumon would want to prevent this. So each chip would need to store, in memory, the location-codes that trigger "go innie."
Example commands
When Dylan set the OTC, the command tower sent:
"Everyone ignore this message except [Helena's chip ID], [Mark's chip ID], and [Irving's chip ID]. Start of message. Ignore location and go innie as long as you keep hearing this signal."
When they sent Helena as a mole, the command tower sent the Glasgow-Block-Command:
"Everyone ignore this message except [Helena's chip ID]. Start of message. Ignore location and stay outie until you receive a Remove-Glasgow-Block command."
Before the ORTBO, the command tower sent:
"Everyone ignore this message except [Helena's chip ID], [Mark's chip ID], [Dylan's chip ID],and [Irving's chip ID]. Start of message. Add [Dieter Eagan National Park's location code] to your list of locations to go innie."
So Helena's list of locations was updated, but she doesn't go innie until the Glasgow block is removed.

Spruce Park Station
Sim File Share
Surrounded by lush greenery and shaded by towering trees, the park invites both locals and visitors to unwind, enjoy a leisurely stroll or visit our Spruce Park Station below ground. A bustling subway station awaits with its modern amenities - automated lockers, ATMs and the promise of swift transit via its sleek trains. Simply bask in the harmonious blend of urban convenience and natural beauty!
Price: 70, 158 Lot Size: 25x20 Lot Type: Small Park Store Content: Click here CC Used: Click here File Type: Package Min. Required Game Version: 1.42 Packs Needed: The Sims 3, Ambitions, World Adventures (cash register - general cc), Late Night (subway, wallpaper and floor) and Seasons (food stand cc)
Hey everyone! I've recreated and combined two of my old custom subway lots into a small lot size so they can be easily placed anywhere. This lot is great, especially for RP players like me who enjoy making a trip out of taking a train in the game.
Click on the ’Keep Reading’ below for more information and pictures on this lot.
I enjoy creating custom rabbit holes and a subway is the easiest of them all, especially with perfect subway/train CC created by amazing creators that you can easily use in your game. Although most of them are décor, so you mostly see Sims admiring them all over the place, I decided to place the subway in a small park for this specific lot. You can let your Sims enjoy the park, read a newspaper, drink coffee and even eat at a food cart before taking the train to work or heading home. To enhance the experience, you can also make the newspaper shop functional by using either Ani's Shop from Inventory mod or PJSims Functional Newspaper Stand mod. I have placed most of ATS3 Newspapers Kiosque's chest-like CCs, where you can store buyable newspapers and have your Sims buy their newspapers there. If you want to go this route, don't forget to download the buyable newspapers from this link to add them to your game. If you prefer the Functional Newspaper Stand, you can go to the link provided above and follow the instructions carefully to make it work in your end. 📣I've used Jynx's Subway Station rug and placed it in the next compartment of the train. As usual, I've provided links for different RH rugs/doors that you can choose from or that are compatible with your game. Don't forget to name your Subway station and make sure to place two subways in your world for it to function. 📣Please note that the store content and CC included in the lot are not included on the download file. I’ve compiled a list for those interested in downloading them separately (please click the links above or go to WCIF Navigation page) but those are not required and will be automatically replaced in the game. The Late Night expansion pack is required due to the build items used in the lot as stated in the Details section above. This lot has been play-tested and let me know if you experience any problems on your end!

One aspect of Night City I find really interesting in Cyberpunk 2077 is just how "alive" it feels, like it's a real city and you can go there. One thing that makes it more alive than other cities in other open world games is the Arasaka Memorial in Corpo Plaza. The design of this place is haunting. You're greeted with an Arasaka logo (the kind used for Arasaka public works projects like Konpeki Plaza) on a holographic sign whose borders are made of fissured concrete and rebar, reading:
2023
Arasaka Memorial
We shall never forget
Surrounding the memorial's main complex is a columbarium, which presumably houses the names and niches of the at least 12,000 known victims of the bombing of August 20, 2023. Inside the main complex is nothing short of breathtaking.
Beneath a tempered glass walkway and through the view of some windows, you see the ruins of the original lobby entrance to Arasaka Tower, buried in splintered stairs and balconies, shattered concrete, and mangled rebar and steel. On either side of the main causeway, recreated offices glow with an angry red virtual fire, the aftermath of the bombing. An automated announcement reminds visitors to show some respect at this site, this hallowed ground for Arasaka, this corporate Golgotha. The architecture of the Memorial is reminiscent of real world memorials to disasters, and I particularly see influence from the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in NYC, and the Nagasaki Peace Park in Nagasaki.
The stories told by some of the NPCs in conversations are no less harrowing. One woman tells the story of her grandfather who volunteered as a rescue worker at the site. The air, especially in the Time of the Red, must have been oppressive with smoke and fallout, the silence just as much were it not for the wind, the shuffling of stones, the search parties, the cries coming up from under the rubble. A classroom of children is on a field trip to the Memorial, their teacher apparently giving a history lesson, as the history, as murky as it is, still prevails despite neither of these people living through the event itself. A father attempts to console his child with the promise that their mother is in heaven, but the child says their friend's father is in Mikoshi and they can talk to him just fine. A Buddhist monk blesses one of the niches and offers some incense. What I find most interesting, however, is what isn't said, and that's by Johnny. Now, the Doylist explanation is that the devs didn't put in any lines for Johnny here, either because they couldn't come up with anything that was already said, or it would be kind of inappropriate to have a snarky comment at a very somber site. However, I think what's happening in universe is that Johnny, who seems to believe he did the bombing himself with little outside help (which, if you've played the TTRPG, isn't true), is forced to reckon with the weight of what he "did," and refuses to comment either because he'd come off like an even bigger asshole than he is, or he has to deal with 12,000 boxes of ashes around the Memorial, 12,000 names etched into metal plaques, 12,000 people who were just trying to have a good night in Night City, the city which doesn't offer happy endings, and never really did, 12,000 faces lost to time.

Streets and Districts of Veyren City.
As the title implies here is a list of streets: residential streets, main roads, connector roads and districts! (Animated purple and white divider made by @/cafekitsune)

How Tower Parking Systems Enhance Urban Real Estate Value

The Urban Space Crunch & Parking Woes
India's rapidly urbanizing landscape has given rise to a critical challenge: space scarcity. With cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune experiencing a steep rise in population density and vehicular ownership, traditional parking solutions are no longer sufficient. The mismatch between the number of vehicles and available land for parking has led to congestion, delays, and diminished urban livability.
In this evolving scenario, the need for intelligent, space-saving, and automated parking solutions has become more urgent than ever. Enter tower parking systems – an innovative and futuristic approach to vertical parking that maximizes space without compromising convenience. These multi-level car parking systems are designed to cater to dense urban regions, offering a scalable, efficient, and tech-driven answer to India's growing parking crisis.
This blog explores how automatic tower parking systems not only address urban mobility needs but also significantly enhance real estate value, making them a strategic investment for developers, architects, and city planners. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, Wohr Parking Systems is leading the transformation of urban parking in India, particularly with their tower parking system in Mumbai and other key metro cities.
What is Tower Parking and How It Works
What is tower parking? Simply put, it is a vertical, automated car parking system that uses the concept of stacking to park cars in multiple levels above or below ground. Instead of spreading parking space horizontally, tower car parking optimizes vertical real estate, significantly increasing capacity in a smaller footprint.
In a tower car parking system, vehicles are driven into an entry bay. From there, an automated mechanism – typically involving platforms, lifts, or robotic arms – transports the car to an available slot within the tower. The retrieval process is equally streamlined, ensuring that users spend minimal time parking or collecting their cars.
There are various types of tower systems, including:
Automatic tower car parking systems: Fully automated, requiring minimal human intervention.
Mechanical parking systems: Semi-automated or manual systems involving user assistance.
Stacking parking systems: Cars are stacked vertically, one above the other.
These systems are ideal for high-density locations and eliminate the inefficiencies of conventional parking. They also reduce pollution and energy consumption as vehicles do not circulate in search of parking spots.
With smart interfaces, safety systems, and modern engineering, automated car parking systems are quickly becoming essential infrastructure in urban India.
Types of Tower Parking Systems Used in India
In the Indian urban context, several variations of tower parking systems are in use. Each type addresses specific spatial constraints and user requirements. Below are some commonly used solutions:
Stacked Parking Systems: Cars are parked one above another using hydraulic lifts. Ideal for residential complexes and office buildings with limited space.
Multi-level Parking Systems: These include multi-floor garages integrated with automatic lifts and car-moving platforms. Suitable for commercial centers and public spaces.
Hydraulic Car Parking: Uses hydraulic cylinders to move platforms vertically. Known for reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Puzzle Parking Systems: A grid-based system where platforms move horizontally and vertically to relocate cars.
Car Lifts: These vertical lifts are used in towers to transport cars to designated parking levels.
Smart Parking Systems: Integrated with app-based control, remote access, and IoT monitoring for improved efficiency.
India is also witnessing a rise in two-wheeler parking systems, especially in metro cities where bike ownership is high. As urban growth accelerates, these diverse options help city planners and developers meet the demand for compact, efficient, and sustainable parking.
Benefits of Tower Parking Systems in Urban Real Estate
The value of a real estate project is not only determined by its aesthetics or location but also by the efficiency of its infrastructure. Tower parking systems offer several strategic advantages that directly enhance the value proposition of urban developments:
Space Optimization: Traditional parking consumes vast horizontal space. Tower parking systems allow vertical stacking, freeing up ground area for landscaping, amenities, or additional construction. This maximizes usable space and creates room for more residential or commercial units.
Increased Project ROI: By reducing land use for parking, developers can construct more salable floor space. This directly impacts the return on investment (ROI). Automated systems also reduce labor costs associated with traditional parking.
Sustainability: With reduced vehicle movement within parking structures, there is a drop in emissions and energy consumption. Automatic parking cars in India are becoming a green alternative, aligning with environmental regulations and green building norms.
Modern Appeal: Buyers and tenants prefer developments equipped with modern conveniences. Automatic parking systems reflect cutting-edge technology, attracting tech-savvy residents and enhancing the brand image of developers.
Improved Safety: These systems reduce human intervention and are built with advanced sensors, access control, and fire safety measures. Cars are protected against damage and theft.
Low Maintenance and Durability: Unlike traditional garages that require frequent maintenance, tower systems are engineered for longevity with minimal upkeep.
Better Traffic Flow: Quick retrieval and parking reduce congestion at entry and exit points.
By implementing car parking automation, developers not only address a growing urban issue but also gain a market differentiator that adds substantial real estate value.
Tower Parking System in Mumbai: A Real-World Case
Mumbai, one of India’s most space-constrained cities, presents a perfect case for tower parking systems. Real estate developers in Mumbai often struggle to provide adequate parking due to stringent space regulations and high land costs. To overcome this, many have turned to automatic tower parking systems.
A growing number of residential and commercial projects in areas like Andheri, Lower Parel, and Bandra have implemented parking tower systems to optimize space and offer premium amenities to their residents.
In such scenarios, Wohr’s tower parking system in Mumbai has emerged as a preferred solution. With its German-engineered precision and ability to stack cars vertically, Wohr helps real estate developers not only comply with parking norms but also enhance the overall value of their projects. These installations are tailored to site-specific requirements and are known for their safety, speed, and scalability.
This smart, space-saving approach has transformed parking from a logistical challenge to a selling point, making automatic parking car in India a reality in the country’s most demanding urban market.
How Builders & Architects Benefit From Parking Automation
For builders, architects, and urban planners, integrating automated parking systems into their projects provides several strategic and operational advantages:
Design Flexibility: With vertical parking, architects can free up floor space and experiment with more creative designs. The compactness of tower systems allows for better use of limited plots.
Regulatory Compliance: In many cities, local authorities mandate a minimum number of parking spots. Automated solutions help developers meet these requirements without compromising on design or space utilization.
Cost-Efficiency: While the initial cost may be higher than traditional parking, the long-term benefits include reduced staffing, lower maintenance, and better space efficiency. Over time, this leads to significant cost savings.
Premium Pricing & Differentiation: Projects with smart parking systems enjoy a higher perceived value. Buyers are willing to pay more for modern amenities that offer convenience and safety.
Future-Proofing Urban Infrastructure: With cities growing vertically, parking too must evolve. Automatic parking systems support vertical urban growth and can be retrofitted into existing properties, especially in redevelopment zones.
Sustainable Design Integration: Builders looking to achieve green building certification benefit from automated systems as they reduce energy consumption and vehicle emissions.
For industry professionals, investing in multi-level car parking and car parking automation isn't just a technical decision—it's a strategic one that aligns with the future of real estate.
As India races toward becoming a network of smart cities, efficient land use and infrastructure optimization are critical. Tower parking systems offer a visionary approach to tackling the urban parking crisis. They deliver unmatched advantages in space savings, safety, ROI, and buyer appeal, while also meeting the sustainability goals of modern urban planning.

hc: proximity
it is the kind of nightmare that can happen to anyone, really: a strange dream of a lonely cityscape where everything and everyone is watching you, knowing what you’re doing, recording it, judging you. it is fear of judgment, fear of technology and the alien and unknown, fear of violation and privacy invasion, moral OCD aand the overwhelming grief that comes with living in late capitalism. and many more things, besides.
one dreamer’s experience of this place: a strange city full of dark alleyways and empty shops, with towering metal beasts that stalk the skylines hunting for people to hurt. they cannot reach their loved ones on their cellphone or other devices, or they reach them only in snatches. the cameras on every corner follow their movements. they try to talk to an automated door and are repeatedly transferred to an automated voice that tells them to describe their problem in a few words, then asks them to hold before putting them through the same process again. they try to reach a loved one’s house for safety, but can’t remember the address or the route to it by heart. the map applications are down.
another: the same city. it is populated but no one speaks to one another. somewhere the skies are burning and multiple advertisements at bus stops and billboards claim that there are no national parks left in the country. the people are polite and smile often but something is wrong with them: pieces of them keep falling off. the dreamer is terrified that they will go to pieces too. they miss their childhood. they miss the green fields and towering trees they grew up around. this city is smothering them. this city is swallowing everyone alive.
there are many others. trying to reason with machines. struggling to make ethical purchases. trying to secure your privacy, hide your identity, flee from a stalker. shouting for help and receiving automated responses. being followed by robots of various kinds, all of whom want to record you. grieving the loss of the pre-digital world you knew. grieving the loss of the pre-digital world you were born too late to see. grieving. grieving. grieving.

It's so funny man. I don't do wizard's towers. I do structures, machines. We both do.
The entire interior of the planetoid that I draw my power from is full of machines, they all connect to the structures emerging from the surface. Actually you can't get into any of the automated compounds out here without entering from the underground. The inside is always doing something; processing materials gathered from the wedge, organizing resources into storage, rearranging rooms into new ones. All the while, the outside's left to be an unkempt garden that I can go romp around in, and the first line of defense against intruders I haven't already caught.
And then Blair's building her friggin megaplex amusement park thing on the other side of the hideout. That thing's taking a crazy amount of time, but we figured out that she can craft the frame out of foundational stone-metals, which has given her the skeleton of the project way ahead of schedule. But she insists on processing all the scrap she recovers and fabricating wholly new parts from the ground up, too.

It's the February Steam Next Fest, so here's some potential game demos to check out this weekend!

Hollowbody | Press Kit
It's a Shipper's biggest fear. You're grounded in the exclusion zone, twenty miles of death and decay sealed off by the towering, suffocating walls erected after the collapse.
Hollowbody offers early 2000s-style survival horror, citing titles like Silent Hill 2 and 3, Rule of Rose, and Kuon as inspiration. As you ascend the apartment building to try and make contact with outside of the exclusion zone, the demo makes use of a blend of dynamic and fixed camera angles. This approach extends to combat, which strikes a nice balance between a more classic style in which you must work with the camera angles, striking fear in you when you can't quite see what is in the room with you, just offscreen, and making movement and fighting feel natural.
If you were craving horror of a particular period, Hollowbody strives to capture that with its visual presentation, and with a particular update to the demo, Hollowbody now has the option for tank controls.
Rusty's Retirement | Press Kit
For a more casual player, Rusty's Retirement is an idle-farming simulator that lives at the bottom of your screen while you work, watch, chat, or play. Automate your farm with the help of robots, and produce biofuel for them with the plants you grow.
The game includes a cameo from Haiku the Robot, as the two games share a creator. Haiku can be found helping your automated farm :)
Crow Country | Website
The year is 1990. It’s been two years since the mysterious disappearance of Edward Crow and the abrupt closure of his theme park, Crow Country. But your arrival has broken the silence, Mara Forest. If you want answers, you’ll have to venture deep into the darkness of Crow Country to find them…
Another throwback third person survival horror game with an armed female protagonist, Crow Country establishes an atmosphere switching between "tension and tranquillity", trying to steady your aim at the head of a shivering, approaching enemy and the warm glow of the fire in a save room. The game places an increased emphasis on puzzles and riddles, and as you try and manage your resources and slip past enemies (the game emphasizes that you don't have to defeat every enemy you come across, which could bring trouble later) you'll be able to absorb the whimsy and detail of every region and room.
If the creatures around every corner frighten you, or you'd just like to be able to absorb every detail of the theme park uninterrupted, the game offers an "Exploration Mode" difficulty for you to enjoy.

Trash of the Titans | itch.io
What if your turn-based fantasy tactics had an urban mammal element and was very, very purple?
Enter this roguelite to fight a rat gang over dumpsters, upgrade your skills, and play trash-eating Tetris to get stronger. Learn your abilities and how to utilize the antics you can pull against the waves of rats (large rats, small rats, caster rats summoning demon rats).
Your party is a Badger Barbarian with a charge attack that increases damage the further away she is, a Raccoon Rogue that uses stealth to rack up kills and move across the map, a Skunk Wizard that casts more than just poison spells, and a Possum Ranger with a ricochet that will stack up the RAT CRUE kills.
Find surprises like the fact that your Possum Ranger's "turrets" in fact refer to possum babies, and their ability to retreat along a path back to her upon defeat can be used to your advantage.
Magical Delicacy | Press Kit
A wholesome pixel art platformer. Cook magical delicacies from a vast collection of ingredients in your own shop. Explore an unfamiliar town and deliver tasty treats to the townsfolk. Learn new ways to traverse, discover secrets, and experience a unique witchy world.
If you like cute titles where you cook and manage a shop but craved a little more verticality, Magical Delicacy offers you a platformer with witches and a dash of intrigue. The game offers cooking, gardening, shop management, and double jumping your way across a surprisingly formatted town.
Hey, you're a witch with a red bow going out for deliveries. Sounds familiar.

TAZ NC, Day 19: Super AU
@taznovembercelebration
Goldcliff was a beautiful city, but honestly, anything was better than Rockport at this point. The buildings here towered high, high above, shimmering in the soft, steady sunlight from a sky that never seemed to have clouds. The city was lush with plants of all kinds, green trees lining roads and paths, vines climbing up older buildings. The crowd was thick, but not too hard to get through, given the right circumstances.
Did Taako feel bad for the woman he shoved to the ground? No. Not really. But he was starting to get stressed by the trio of robots following behind him. Taako sprinted through Goldcliff Park, dodging a robot arm that nearly grabbed the back of his cartridge. He hopped up onto a park bench to avoid another arm and the bench wobbled beneath him.
Look— Maybe Goldcliff hadn't been his best plan, but Taako wasn't really— Taako didn't really think about it at that point. He just thought, hey, wouldn't it be nice to get away from the town where you accidentally killed a ton of people. Taako was a city guy. Or, well, he had lived in a city before. He knew how to blend in, how to keep his guard up and keep his eyes down. Plus, the more faces around, the less likely it was for him to get caught for, y'know, the Murders.
Apparently not. Taako had been walking home from day three of his brand new job (and new identity and new accent and new—) when the first robot had appeared. They were big, beefy things, with heavy arms. Seeing them around wasn't too concerning— Goldcliff law enforcement very much seemed to be automated, and then double-checked. He had thought, hey! As long he didn't look the thing in the eye… holes… then he'd be fine. But, uh, apparently they were a lot more intelligent than Taako had originally thought. Sue him, it had been years since he was last plugged in on tech advancements. How was he supposed to know that the robot police automatically would know he did some Murders?
Taako slid off the path, heading into the trees surrounding the park. It was just city on the other side— if he could make it through fast enough, he could blend back in. He'd get a new name, new ID, move to a new city, or maybe like, just live in the woods for a while. Yeah, living in the woods would be— aw fuck.
Taako misstepped and a root tree poking out from the ground tripped him. He skidded to a bad stop, stumbling to the ground. There was an awful stabbing pain in his ankle. Taako had been around the block enough to know a sprained joint when he felt one. He backed up, grabbing the nearest thing to him— a small stone, because, again, he was in the middle of a park— and forced his power into it. In the seconds it took for the robots to catch up with him, he was holding a small stone knife. He was pushin' his luck, because surely these 'bots are stone-proof, but he had to try something.
If he ended up in jail, who was going to find Lup??
The biggest robot closed in on him and Taako raised the knife, ready to strike. But then the robot let out a little hiss of steam. It cocked its head to the side, and then to the other side, and its body seemed to relax. A latch on the robot's stomach unhooked and there was another hiss as the robot parted from the middle out, revealing a person inside. What kind of fucked up vore situation had Taako gotten himself into? He had been ninety percent sure that those 'bots were just wires inside.
The woman stepped out, her heeled boot flattening the root Taako had tripped over. She had on a dark blue jumpsuit, with an angled symbol on the front. She wore a black, hooded, low-cut jacket over it. The hood was pulled up, staticing her face out. Her sleeves were pushed up to her elbows. It took Taako a second to place her identity.
The Bureau of Balance was one of Goldcliff's main attractions. Supers weren't rare, per se, but often, powers didn't amount to much. The Bureau sought to harness those powers, whatever they may be, and use them for good. Taako didn't know the intricacies, but he knew the stories. Even with the popularity of the Bureau, most of the identities of their most famous Supers were kept hidden.
A Super by the name of Void ran the Bureau of Balance. She was said to be strict, but kind. She had never been seen publicly without it. The other two robots were closed in around her and Taako felt a little stupid to only just now realize the robots lacked the Goldcliff Militia logo. The air hummed with power for a few moments and a translucent barrier went up around them.
Another thing about the Void: As much as they tried to stop her, the Militia could never get her to go by their rules. There were countless Bureau employees out on bail, or worse. Not only was the Bureau a training center for Supers, it was also a law office. They were partnered with Lucretia Williams, who seemed to be about the only lawyer who could win cases for Super clients.
"Taako," the Void said, holding out a hand to help him get up. "It's about time you've stopped running."
