Sims 2 Skin Adjuster Program V2 (Create your own custom skintone!)
Hello, this is version 2 of my skin adjuster program.
Firstly, what is the "why" of this program?: If you've ever made a custom skin in the Sims 2 you know how tedious it is to do because you have to manually edit each bmp file and there are 40 bmp files for just one skin. This program aims to help in that. With this program if you want to quickly blend skins or adjust the color, saturation, etc. you can do it quickly in an instant, and the program will apply your changes to all the bmp files, no need to do it manually anymore! It's like an automated Photoshop.
youtube
If you've seen my Tumblr post on the V1 of this program, here are the the main updates that i made since then: 1. UI for the program, not command line anymore yay! 2. Teeth and eye areas of the skins are now unaffected 3. Added a color overlay feature
Quick no sound, straight to the point video demo of the program:
Disclaimer: This program only works on Windows. Also, if you use Bodyshop instead of SimPe to import or export the bmp files of the skins, there will be a slight reduce in quality, to no fault of my program. This is due to the compression problem of Bodyshop (I talked about it in a previous Tumblr post).
Download the Program here (Mediafire)
All types of feedback are welcomed! Happy Simming! Note: not sure if i explained it well but, for the output folder, you can either make a new folder or use a folder that already exists. If there are already bmp files in the output folder, the program will replace those.
P.S. Took me a while to write this Tumblr post. I was already done but Tumblr didn't save it : /

I am firmly of the opinion V1 should talk weirder. Assuming it ever finds a way to talk.
When really pissed off, it should devolve into automated customer service mode.
"we are experiencing a high volume of calls." = "i'm not fucking listening to you anymore."
"insert cash or select payment type." = "i'm not doing that unless you make it worth my while."
"As per my last email:" = y'all already know what this one means
Also, it's a robot from WW1 extended edition. It should have been "raised" by soldiers and engineers who used that era's slang. It'd be funny if it did, too. especially when no one else remembers it.
ex: "Dont get in a flap on me, sky-scout. I'm not interested in ending up on the carpet. What I am interested in is spike-bozzling that Iron Horseman."
translation: (dont freak out, angel. im not here to get in trouble. im just here to destroy that earthmover)
Gabe is pleading with it that none of those words are in the bible. The terminals have entirely given up and only respond to touchscreen stimulus. Even V2 has issues understanding what the fuck its saying like ever.

who is Cutter, who is vnuuy (VJ and co), and why are two of your v models dead and demonic/divine
(sorry if I'm being. weird/annoying? just really invested in your silly guys and trying to find every single tidbit of lore)
SORGY ME AND MY MATES JUST MADE A NEW MINECRAFT SERVER AND ITS EATED ME WHOLE. Anyway [cracks knuckles] THIS one is gonna be a long one, i will wholly reccoment getting a nice warm drink, a snack and buckle the FUCK up because we got yaoi we got yuri we got complexes out the ass we got attachment issues and worship issues. And more importantly we got soggy dogboy machine angels!!!!!!!! Im mostly gonna focus on the Vees for this one, with Cutter being focused more in a reblog after this cause i KNOW tumblr is gonna hate me and how long this is :')
But before we get to all of THOSE we gotta talk about their home. I've mentioned the ABN several times and only went slightly in depths about it.
The Australian Bunker Network was a series of inverse earthmovers in a sense. Massive underground fortress machines built roughly the same time the first generations and iterations of Earthmovers, not quite as a counter but as a convergent evolution kind of thing. Neither of the machines were capable of 'higher thought' and existed purely as an automation, lifesupport and defensive system.
Anyway. There were four over all 'machines' built. The Kunjen system, The Uluru system, the Balardung system and the Kulin System. TKS was the largest of the lot, having been built not long after Melbourne and Sydney was razed to the ground, and was built specifically in mind for housing both respective populations. There was a fifth slated for what would've ended up been Canberra and was slated to be named Wiradjuri, however complications arose due to building issues and she was never completed.
All four were bastions of human survival, industry and most importantly, massive political juggernauts. This fact was made very apparent during the early days of the new peace
Kulin was the bunker system that Whalefall and Starshine ended up migrating do during the long night and the early days of the climate catastrophe, having that despite the war, Kulin managed to retain not only most of her facilities, but also her entire blood vault, making her an invaluable asset once Melbourne and Sydney went up in utter flames along with her machine production lines. Both girls knew they could ride out the long night if they offered their services in protecting Kuiln in return for being hooked up to the blood vault.
It was a very good arrangement. ANYWAY. Once the long night truly started to settle in and it became VERY apparent that the Earthmovers were now on a timer, a deal was struck up just before the first lot started starving/freezing to death. What kind of deal?
When the sisters (and at the time the rest of the herd) made contact, the ABN network immediately jumped on the opportunity with a company called Viscera, a foundry country dedicated to producing swift and small infiltrator machines designed to counter walker and shield class machines (machines called Mall Razers and later on Earthmovers)
You can see where this is going.
Once contacts gave hint that V1 was in the works, and close to finalization, the ABN put forward that they were about to be in position of two Earthmovers, and could provide one in the event V1 was completed.
Course, we all know what happens and V1 was never fully completed. HOWEVER, in compensation, Viscera was to provide blueprints, no matter what state the new unit was in, as both down payment and as a reimbursement for the Earthmover (Viscera gets live time data from the fight along with any and all modifications, parts and direct access to the remaining blood vault). While there were MANY under the table dealings of V1 (and V2's) blueprints, the exchanged between the ABN and Viscera was the only true 'legitimate' dealing.
And that dealing led to V-D1, also known as unit Dingo, our not yet machine angel yet always been angel.
Dingo was created to be a full replacement for Starshine, given she was selected due to her age, her class and her temperament. Whalefall still had her uses even if she was grounded. Dingo, despite being molded off V1, is far more like V2 in concept, given he is designed for defense and minor offense. He still retained the battle algorithm of V1, and would've had the temperament to boot along with it. However, the all so kind mechanics and programmers of Kulin never ever EVER in their collective lives asked if they 'should' and always asked 'could'.
They kept Dingo from going utterly ballistic and fully inline by one thing and one thing only. A healthy and utterly abhorrent fear of blood.
Which is a very VERY big problem when you're a machine powered by said blood.
By having Dingo fear bloodshed (mostly of people, animals were iffy and he did have a small growing pain moment of exploding pets for a few years), they effectively declawed a Vee unit, enabling complete control over him. However, one unintended side effect of that fear of blood was morality, something unsee as of in machine kind outside of several edge cases (more on this later).
Dingo, for all intents and purposes, was a machine that thought. A machine that felt. A machine that was alive. And the ABN knew very well of it, rebranding Dingo as a state of the art defensive unit made for reclamation of no mans/no machines land, made for going into smouldering warzones, clearing out whatever remained of ground infantry along with euthanizing any remaining Earthmovers still clinging to life. He was not allowed to leave the country.
Fast forward several years and thanks to Dingo's newly born humanity and general... humanness. He swiftly became the poster child and the golden boy of not only Kulin, but also Australia as a whole, along side Whalefall, Starshine and two machines named Roo and Thylacine (and by extension CTS machines)
Dingo lived one hellova cushy life for a machine, given A: FUCKING EXPENSIVE, B: Both Mothermachines favorite and C: cmmon look at him he has dog ears and a tail how can you say no to his face????? Anyway, most machines have several handlers, along with an entire fleet of people dedicated to their upkeep and such. Dingo only ever answered to one person, and that was his handler named Noah, but he is typically regarded as being handlerless, which was utterly unheard of at the time. Dingo, for all intents and purposes, had full autonomy of himself, would dictate when and where he had maintenance, who could touch him, who he could be put on patrol with, when he could refuel. His own life entirely in his hands
Eventually an experiment was put in place with just how well Dingo could do in a leadership position (mostly to see if Whalefall could be made fully redundant and scrapped). Dingo could handle commanding and leading a small fleet of thirty machines, any more and he got the shakes and generally became too soggy to function. This ended up accumulating in what was called the Boil Blood Devision, consisting of himself, eight CTS machines (at the time five), several ground units and half a dozen repurposed war machines of varying types. And two other soon to be units.
Varying low stakes experiments were preformed on Dingo, mostly testing his limits and where his morality stood. He was mostly content with this, however...
Around thirtyish years into the new peace, the ABN's massive political stranglehold over Australia begun to wane ever so slightly, along with tension between western and eastern australia, so, they dusted off the old V1 blueprints, and made a new Vee unit far more in line with the first iteration.
V-13L, Blackhead.
Blackhead was a behemoth of a machine, towering nearly two feet over Dingo (and he himself was already seven goddamn feet tall), and that wasnt with her neck extended. She was built with pure offense in mind, and is probably the closest thing to V3 that exists. Unlike Dingo who boasted sections of reinforced and absorbent plating, she boasted an alternating, scale like pattern of standard and absorbent plating, allowing for immense defense while allowing herself to refuel and repair. Unlike Dingo she was capable of 'flight' via rapidly buzzing her wings akin to a bug and hovering several feet off the ground. And lastly her damn tail, which was nearly ten meters in length of pure kinetic weaponry.
She was a damn good machine given her cost.
Now, once again, the mechanics of the Kulin once again asked if they could instead of if they should, and decided to go the opposite route of Dingo. A highly agressive, effecient machine that could make the harder shots that Dingo couldnt (more importantly where his morals became uncompromising).
If Dingo couldnt complete a task (barring it was not humanitarian nor business related), Blackhead was to be sent in to 'finish the job at all costs'. She was used as a threat along with Whalefall in the event someone or something wasnt cooperating, resulting in the ABN's political hold over Australia remaining strong.
Like Dingo, Blackhead didnt have a traditional handler, in the sense that Dingo was her handler. She answered to either him, or Whalefall. No one else. No one less.
This fact uh. Didnt exactly go over well with the citizens of Kulin, with many of them expressing extensive fear of her, which ultimately resulted in her becoming the black sheep of the entire machine fleet there.
Which was saying alot considering the ABN at the time had still functioning Guttermen, functional still full iron wombs included. The people did not like her, for a multitude of valid reasons.
One of which was her lack of empathy and emotions. Blackhead, unlike Dingo, spoke fully in a monotone voice, and was prone to bouts of 'anger' (note: it never was anger, it was just her inability to express herself that to the ape brains translated as anger). She was standoffish, unsettling, unnerving and was always armed thanks to her tail. As a result, she was very much the last in line to refuel, and wasnt allowed to enter the bunker itself, only allowed to patrol a certain area and the refuel ports of Whalefall and Starshine and was typically last in line for maintenance that wasnt the half yearly mandatory maint.
She, in a sense, had less rights than the damn roombas that swept the streets. Dingo was VERY much aware of this.
So he went about it like any good person would, he would give what she didnt have. Dingo went in and copied his emotional algorithms, including those responsible for brain chemistry, went into his own voice bank and copied all the millions of emotional inflections, every last scrap of data that could feasibly be copied, was.
And it was all given to her. While she never did fully have the full range of emotions Dingo had, it allowed her to cross reference a network of emotional responses Dingo had and allowed her to emulate what was best fit for the time. It worked, to an extent, allowing her to express herself somewhat and allowed herself to have minor emotional infliction in her voice, it did alot of good, but it also came off as uncanny to some of the more softer bellied civilians, who, lets be real here, wouldnt have accepted her anyway. She owes Dingo alot because of this, she both loves, and hates him because of it. It was both a salvation, and downfall.
Another two decades passed and the results of the experiments preformed on Roo came to fruition, allowing the construction of the final three CTS machines apart of the Boil Blood division, Koala, Elk and Bull.
Roo was officially classed as one of the first fully aware, fully sapient and sentient machines, and was a metaphorical gold mine of data for machine development in the new peace. Most if not all of those experiments were utterly horrid and completely and utterly broke down Roo to his core, leaving him horridly scarred and terrified of expressing his humanity and aliveness. Thylacine, his 'sibling' machine, was similarly also alive but slipped under the radar at the time due to his general behavior and monotone voice.
Despite Roo's treatment, he was an absolute BOON to machine development, allowing for machines that had a wider range of emotions, a deeper sense of humanity, empathy, personality and reasoning. He is the basis for half, if not three quarter of the new peace machines emotional algorithms. Occasionally he is referenced to as the grandfather of 'modern' machines. He hates this fact. Theres alot more to go into, but you asked about Cutter and the vees, so he and the rest of the CTS machines story will be skipped (ask me about them >:) )
Anyway, Koala, Elk and Bull. Koala and Bull were utter fan favorites. Koala was almost slated to be Dingo's favorite, was that fact was only bypassed because Dingo took a far better liking to Bull instead.
The two became utterly inseparable, and Dingo was fully responsible for unshackling Bull from the remainder of the lock in codeing, allowing him to become fully autonomous like himself (this only barely went over with Blackhead, didnt go over well with Roo at all and Thylacine... well. No comment on his half)
While officially, Roo and Thylacine was Dingo's second and third command, Bull rose to the top and became Dingo's right hand machine, often making the calls instead of Roo, shunting him to third place and Thylacine to fourth. Thylacine was chill with it, Roo wasnt (mostly due to trauma but shhhh). This... also meant that whatever power position Blackhead had was rendered null and she was pushed to the wayside and was essentially put on the proverbial back burner (still kept online, because, well... thats a multi billion dollar machine. They paid for the whole machine they gonna use the whole machine).
We now skip another few decades, a full sixty seven years after Dingo was made, thirty after Blackhead. Dingo and Bull's relationship grew into something romantic, the Boil Blood division became a powerhouse for most of the machines in the ABN's care and became a world wide phenomena. Machines? In Love? That was new, and opened up discussions about how machines were treated overall and allowed for multiple machine sanctuaries to open up.
Coincidentally, at the same time, the ABN's strangle hold on not only Australia, but also what was basically the entire southern hemisphere was drawing to a close, having a vast majority of the war broken infrastructure was rebuilt. Factories, blood vaults, labs, farms, highways, you name it, alot of it was rebuilt. As a result, money became.... tight, costs were cut, projects were scrapped.
One such project was on the chopping block, codenamed Jackrabbit.
Jackrabbit was the halfway point between Dingo and Blackhead, a machine designed as both a second warning and a second barricade. She was slated to be designed for general defense, along with finally being able to retake the Uluru system, which for all those decades had gone essentially rouge and was acting as if the great war was still going on. She was still producing war machines, all of them fighting one another endlessly in the australian outback. This is the reason why Whalefall and Starshine went to Kulin instead and was why Kulin was classed as the last functional blood vault still working.
Anyway Jackrabbit was slated to be a seven ft tall machine, V2 like but with V1's movement sets and agility. Something that could rain hell onto something in the name of defending something else.
Jackrabbit's production however was....bad. With most money, blood and time going into maintaining the bunker itself, the machine fleets, Whalefall and Starshine, along with Blackhead and Dingo, most of the experienced foundry, lab hands and mechanics were focused on them, leaving the fucking interns and fresh outa school kids to work on her.
There were. So. Many. Mistakes made with Jackrabbit, but the most alarming one of all was the accidental cross wiring with her emotional network.
Every single machine apart of the ABN was monitored 'emotionally' wise, Fear, Anger/Rage, Curiosity, Hunger and Joy were the main 'emotions' monitored, it gave a general idea of any given machines state at the time. Dingo, Blackhead, Roo, Bull, Thylacine. All of them had this monitoring system. Whalefall, Kulin herself and Starshine were the exceptions.
Now, Jackrabbit herself, well uh.
The cross wiring was between the Fear and Anger nodules.
Her Fear came across as Anger while still reading as Fear. Meaning if she was scared, it would read she was about to go ballistic and kill a multitude of someones, while also maintaining that initial fear reading.
On paper, Jackrabbit was a highly unstable machine that was several seconds from going utterly war machine and razing the Bunker to the ground. In reality she was utterly terrified of everything going on, given she had no handler at the time (Dingo was slated, but due to her 'aggression' he wasnt allowed to bond with her during those crucial moments, leaving her with no guidance, thus more fear, with meant more 'anger')
She was essentially kept lab bound, locked in what was essentially a bomb proof white walled room with floodlights to keep her from locking onto any given target.
Dingo, and Whalefall, were only barely aware of her neglect.
Eventually money became tight enough that Jackrabbit's development was scrapped, and instead was repurposed as a suicide bomb. She was slated to be shipped off the Uluru system and was to infiltrate the bunker and detonate.
Course the opening never happened due to realization that Dingo would absolutely object to Jackrabbit being used as a bomb and that Blackhead would be unreliable on a long term mission on her own to escort Jackrabbit to location.
So she was left alone to rot with two maintenance workers keeping an eye on her. Jackrabbit was kept this way for two years before she made her first escape attempt. Over all she made three attempts, the first two she never got further than the inner labs before apprehended, ultimately claiming several lives in a state of absolute terror, both times she was apprehended by the CTS machines, namly Elk, Wombat and Bull. All CTS machines come equipped with sword like lances capable of unleashing a powerfull electrical discharge that are able to knock most heavy machines clean on their ass. Jackrabbit gained a healthy fear of electricity because of this
The third time she nearly made it out of the labs themselves and into the larger civilian district of the bunker itself, and damn well nearly escaped out the back door. If it wasnt for Blackhead intercepting her. This interaction fully knocked whatever 'fight' Jackrabbit had in her, but it also allowed Dingo and Whalefall to become fully aware of her situation.
Dingo then forcefully (or well, as much as he could) insert himself into the situation, and actually took what limited time he could to bond with Jackrabbit. Course, when he first walked into the containment cell he realized just how far Jackrabbit differed from her initial blueprints, having A: she was like under four feet tall B: was missing her entire right arm and C: just how unfinished she was. He also almost immediately noticed that Jackrabbit was missing her right lower most wing blade, the same one that was suspiciously the same as Blackhead's replacement wingblade.
Course, Dingo the saint he ever was put aside his anger and instead focused on breaking down the communication barrier between him and Jackrabbit. He immediately discovered that Jackrabbit, when she wanted something, would hold out her hand, palm up and make a grabbing motion. If she was uncomfortable, she'd hold her hand palm down and make a grabbing motion. And if she was scared, she'd hold her had out with her palm facing inward and make the same grabbing motion.
He also very swiftly found out that the bright lights were the result of her 'aggression' and allowed for dimmer lights. This just barely fixed her 'issues'
Three year mark rolls around.
Seventy years after Dingo, Thirty three after Blackhead, Twenty after Bull
and T-Minus three days untill Pyroclasic makes landfall in Australia

and this is where i STOP rambling, post this absolute FUCKING essay. Stay tuned for part 2 of whatever amount because JFC

As I spend the evening thinking about my novel, and how the story I want to tell should be; I'm finding myself drawn to three conclusions:
The Pre-Alpha v0 Draft felt like, on reflection, it was skipping characterization that should be there, hindering readability.
86's charm point is in the dichotomy of Handler and Reaper.
That I'm not entirely sure the original idea for this story actually works.
On point 1 -- I've spent the better part of the last few years *really* working in the realm of (ultimately) fanfiction, rather than writing original characters. As such, certain characterization can be skipped over when I'm writing a longfic because the reader will (likely) already be familiar with the character(s) that I'm working with. I don't need to elaborate on details that are already established. This makes writing fanfic fairly easy for me, but makes writing original characters interestingly difficult as I have to be mindful and intentional with what I characterize and when.
On point 2 -- I feel like this is somewhat self-explanatory; but the reason 86 works as both an interpersonal narrative and a war-based one; is how Shinei and Lena interact and how their relationship (both romantic and professional) develops over the course of 13 volumes.
This v0 Draft did not contain any form of "Handler", there is no dichotomy between the 'idyllic' Republic and the 86th Sector; there is just the battlefield and the people on it. Which, not having such a dichotomy isn't a bad thing. But I'm wondering now how I can loop in such ideas now. I have ideas for other stories to tell within this world, and I'm wondering if it is at all possible to loop in the various 'sides' of the story, all into one cohesive narrative.
On point 3 -- The original idea for this story was basically "86 but make the cast all different flavors of queer". The story's first incomplete draft has since evolved from that point, but there are still the remnants of such an idea in what exists.
At one point in the second chapter; after alluding to it throughout Chapter 1 -- I have the main character say straight to the camera that she's trans. This doesn't work the way I want it to, I believe. In addition, I found it hard, with what I had plotted out for this v0 Draft, to loop in the ideas of making the other members of the main cast various flavors of queer. The story is not telling what I initially envisioned; the mistreatment of (coincidentally) queer conscripts at the hands of a country that just needs to not lose a war against an automated legion of killing machines.
Of course, 'not losing' is not the same as 'winning', and this means that sending people who were viewed as "expendable" to the front-lines is how the country forestalls its demise. This original idea, as it was inspired by 86, rather than being in the middle of the war, is actually set near the start of the conscription; where there are no "veterans" of warfighting the Drones, and everyone is as clueless as their comrades. I'm a bit hesitant to reveal what the 'twist' is, in this thread; but I do believe that keeping the core of the twist while changing the circumstances of the story? That might be an interesting idea.
However, as I sit here and write all of this out; I'm wondering if I'm making a setting and perhaps overarching narrative better suited for a Young Adult audience? Which, is not a bad thing. 86 (in manga form) is regarded as "Seinen" (Males 18~30 y/o), and in some ways it is, some ways it isn't. So I'm beginning to consider, now, my intended audience for this novel. This is something that I consider to be a *huge* hurdle, as this calls into question what themes or ideas I want to put into the writing as I move into a Pre-Alpha v1 Draft. I believe that I'm better suited for something more in-line of genre with texts such as "Ender's Game", "Speaker for the Dead" or perhaps "Leviathan Wakes"; but ultimately there is only one way that determination is made; which is by finishing the damn draft.
All of this is me procrastinating and somewhat rubber-ducky'ing some of the foundational stuff that I've noticed since I decided to start the Pre-Alpha v1 Draft. It's odd to say, but it's been fun to puzzle over these ideas as I start work on the Pre-Alpha v1 Draft.
Sorry for the long and vague thread, I just don't want to talk about any details regarding the novel publicly yet because it's really early in the development process ^^;

At around the same time I was rediscovering my love for the vintage board game Acquire, I had also signed up for a membership at my local hackerspace (shoutout DenHac). The first tool I learned how to use there was the laser cutter. Laser cutters, while generally being highly automated and precise, still require a bit of fiddling. One of the first projects you do with a laser cut involves making a little diagnostic tool to show what a line or fill looks like at a given percentage of power & a particular speed & focus length. Looking at etched out, sunken engravings on this diagnostic tool, I thought to myself “I bet I could make an Acquire board like this.”
Some example lasercutting diagnostic tools
It was the perfect intro project for a laser cutter too. When working with laser cutters at the hackerspace, we all use a tool called Lightburn. A straightforward and intuitive piece of software, you’ll generally go through two types of usage loops with it.
The first step is design. Lasercutters primarily work from vector shapes and Lightburn includes numerous tools for creating, scaling, and shaping vectors. There’s also a built in text tool. So to make an Acquire board was a straightforward process of copy and pasting a bunch of 1x1” squares, framing a cutout around them, and then adding a second layer to etch in the letters & numbers.
Once you’re done with your design, then you get to deal with the more fiddly part of the process, fabrication. It’s exciting though, since this is where the laser meets the board. First, you need to check to make sure that you’ve got the right size piece of material under the laser by framing it. Then you’ve got to make sure your speed & power is set properly (otherwise what you want to be an “etch” may just cut clear through!) Lastly you hit run and babysit the machine to make sure it doesn’t catch on fire while it works. Laser cutting is a great hobby to have if you’re looking to catch up on your backlog of books.
Anyway, on my v1, I also had to cut out tiles to slot into the board. Part of what makes this a great starter project, is that it is really easy to repurpose the “etch” work into “cut” work. By copying over a layer and tweaking some power & speed variables, you’re good to go. It really helps clarify how you can get two completely different outcomes with the same core design, just by fiddling with some settings. From design to fabrication the whole project took probably 3 hours to execute.

My first ever lasercut game board
One of the other things I really enjoy about fabricating board games as a hobby, is the ability to iterate and polish on things as I go. When I finally was able to play a round with some friends on my v1 board, there were two immediate pieces of feedback.
First, the etched letters & numbers were hard to see against the etched out tile spots. Second, why not switch the letters and number axis to align with how spreadsheet software lays out cells?
The first piece of feedback was expected and highly localized to my fabrication method, but the second piece of feedback felt like a bolt of lightning. It was so clear and obvious when stated, and yet no one in the 60 years of production of the actual game seems to have thought about tweaking it. Anyway, both pieces of feedback were immediately incorporated into the current v2 board design.

The current v2 design
However, Acquire is more than just its board, there’s also a series of stock certificates & some money that need to be made as well, which I’ll go over my design and fabrication process for in future posts. edit: If you'd like to try your own hand at fabricating this game, you can download one of my kits for pay-what-you-want here: https://creatorscommonwealth.itch.io/acquisition

Courtship
For @muzzleroars
On this post, I write a MichaelxV2 fanfic. Fluff writing about the Angelic courtship dance performed by a robot so I decided to be like this part. (Where they dance. Haha. I hope you won't mind 😅) Plus pronouns for V2 will be He/Her btw. I had edited out last minute edits before posting this so I hope you'll like it.
Enjoy. ——————————————————————————————————
"...And V1 had done that? To your brother?"
Michael nodded. He couldn't and still can't, believe that Raphael had helped but it made his already literally rotting heart flutter with reassurance that he tried.
"Yes indeed. He had helped the Machine to court Gabriel into marriage but I am surprised that he helped regardless."
"It must've been shocking." V2 tilted her head to the right.
Michael laughed gently as he placed his hand on his helm, a finger tenderly tracing the cracks. "I can't ridicule him for doing this." he spoke after a moment, still tracing the helmet's cracks mindlessly. "He is my brother and helping others is in our nature."
Michael finally removed his hand and turned towards the red automation. A mirror. A near perfect mirror of her processor painted as red as blood as the protector of peace. Blood tubes painted blue to ensure that he stood out of V1, the newly risen robotic angel and symbol of his brother's love Gabriel willing to give.
V2's processers is recording her findings on culture of Heaven. She had learned a lot from Gabriel in Fraud Layer she lived in, only from what he had been told from his perspective but when offered to see it for herself. It is truly a place of Paradise for what's left of Humanity to go to. Free of pain and suffering and found something she had been lacking in her making: Peace.
Still, the courtship dance is one of the private parts of Heaven over an millennia after Lucifer had fallen down with many other angels as it is considered a taboo by the Father. He had seen them prior to the former banished into Hell itself. The Hell that she and V1 had been born into when New Peace was established.
Curiously a few of his eight wings twitched slightly with another question in her hard drives as Michael took a sip from a cup provided by Raphael, due to a rotting jaw that seemingly be made of light gold, he was recommended to only drinks now.
"May I ask you again, Michael?" "Please do," He accepted, "What is it on your mind, Machine?"
He hesitated. "Have you ever been courted before?"
Michael nearly spit out his drink.
"I beg your pardon?" "Has anyone ever court you before?"
Michael went silent for a moment. He placed a palm on his exposed ribcage adorn with colorful radiant jewels and chains of sliver and gold.
"No." He answered honesty. "I have not been courted by any an angel nor human, Machine." he shook his head lightly. "Many had looked at and up to me as a leader chosen to lead His people and man kind throughout these centuries." He placed his hand again on his helm with a hint of flustered and nonsenses of the question. Turning away from V2. "Many of them knew this is an forbidden act to do, and even worse, the Prince of Heaven in place of Lucifer's and the Lord. I never even try to do courtshiping ritual."
V2 looked at him for a moment.
"Michael." V2 said finally, with a little bit of worry but confidence so little in his machinal voice. "Do you think that I..." Michael turned to look at her once again. "That I... that I do the heavenly courtship dance?"
"You?" Michael could almost chuckle but it was raspy due to a ruined larynx, it was ruined due to the event had had tried to sever his Light in attempt to show his loyalty to Lord he had long-since searched for... and Failed. He will save that story for later yet the machine like V2 could do the ritual is rather funny to him but...
But since Gabriel fell, since V2 was rebuilt and since, for him too much to bare; Even tried binding his brother before reason was struck into him by Gabriel's words, even in Hellish language, they still reached him and even worsen to do to him, he had tried to get him to see V1's corruption by having V2 himself as his date but... All of those failures, taken away his pride but made room for love, humble and a door open for a way for his own sins to be forgiven.
The plan to "open his brother's eyes" had backfired when feelings of this machine, the same way as Gabriel had and... To be honest when he looked back on it. He guessed that's what the race of Man calls "Petty."
Nonetheless, Michael had learned more of V2 being a replacement, ruined and will perish one day like himself will too. He could... He could watch her try. And if he was courted, well, only he will decide to tell or not tell the masses of Heaven.
"Well," He began to say, thoughtfully. "I cannot why not."
V2's optic seem to opened up a little, stars in his eyes with wings flutter a little behind him as he stood upright and then hand over his metallic abdomen and bowed with another arm extended out from him.
Head rose up and then one foot back and then he jumped into the air in a twirl, golden glowing wings flared out in display and then sticks the landing on two feet like a ballerina. Silent amazement resonating in Michael as he watched on. On the right and left of four appendages each. The right bottom one twitched slightly before one after another followed suit going up and then on the upper left appendage repeated this going downwards.
Then them both do it upwards and downwards before crouching down on fours as eight of them gone together to make it seem like they had only one pair of two wings before slowly raises up on two feet once again. Before too long, the eight wings came back but yellow faded into sapphire blue as two of each go downward and then soon out on display.
"This is..." She started to say, "This is so confusing to me, how do you all do it?" Michael, watching the progress had come to an metaphorical halt, placing his drink down and then stand up. He was feeling ridiculous for explaining this but he will feel even more not doing so. He said "Allow me." simply but his voice is gentler by the sound of it.
In his own display of wings, his four wings unfolded in brilliant shades and gradients of pinks, purples, magentas, and violets for a machine or soul to see. The wings then came around and covering Michael slowly and purposely to insight curiosity from the latter and then spun away before he unfolded the wings and then dashed towards V2 before stopping in front of him. The helm barely reached his ribcage and Michael is staring down at them before crouching down, wings flapping down to touch the floor before he stood up and hands grabbing onto forearms (so not to tear the skin and flesh off) after placing them behind his back and circled around him gracefully and leisurely.
V2, stunned but mesmerized, watching the head chief prince closely with wings behind her gently lowered down with her CPU was recording this in wonder before abruptly disappeared in a flash of light. Her optic blinked and looked to her left and right before something shines behind him.
Before he could turn to see, a pair of hands quickly covered his optic and wings enveloped around her as feeling of a helm lightly touching the surface of her own as his head was lifted up a little. Hands then removed themselves from his optic to see Michael roving above him, allowing the small robot to bathe in the glowing lights of his wings.
Both of them lost in a void of a colorful light.
Eight wings of his own twitch with surprise softly, blue began to share a gradient of light pink as he looked up at the Prince of Heaven before one hand lightly taking a hand, a hand that is nearly identical to V2's left one before raising it up and then spun the peace-keeping machine around with trails of neon blue and pink following behind her as four wings flown away steadily.
He kept spinning them to his right before letting go and catching V2 as a leg was raised up while he leaned backwards before lifting upward, lightly urged by a hand on her back with her wings fanning out as she was brought close to his chest.
Feet kept going in a dance of wings of beauty and grace for as long as it could go, a ritual was in fact an success by this point.
Midway, Michael had his hand on V2's back again and the other holding his hand, fingers intertwined, as they looked at each other.
"You have a surprising amount of grace for a machine." Michael commented, looking at his optic with interest. "Oh yeah?" V2 chuckled lightly. "Well, you've got a surprising amount of bugs for an angel."
Michael chuckled at the joke. She wasn't wrong but it was good to laugh once in a while.
"And the expecting tact."
They then spun around as they let go, wings behind them before they flapped, neon and natural light coming off from both pairs and soon they came back together with hands holding onto them and then twirled as they held on. Wings made from metal and divine light flapped and fanned out before fluttering and danced on their accord as their feet had became accustomed to the ritual.
They continued on in their rhythm of the heart beats and fans spinning before letting go.
At last, they bowed to one another.
"So, this is what the courtship dance is like." V2 commented as he turned to look at his wings, colors fading into the tips of his wings as they went from pink to blue and finally going back to default yellow. "Dance with someone you are close to."
Michael laughed, both lightly and worryingly as he tilted his head. "It is, Machine." he added. He is worried.
Someone will know that he had been courted and even worse, it was with this machine but they are in his private quarters, the chambers that was once... Once Lucifer's. Still, since they had danced the ritual here, this could be where a little white secret could lie until he will confess this sin. This sin that made him happy.
Michael cleared his throat gently as his wings folded and soon faded from existence. "W-Well, I enjoyed our time together." he said as his fist was placed behind his back and closed his eyes. "Please," He wanted V2 to leave back to his apartment but he hesitated. "It is getting late, do you think you can travel back to the Eighth Layer?"
V2 looked at the pillar that overlooks outside, stars have already decorated the skies as night time has begun and below were a small city and villages built since the Uproar after the Father's death. "I will but-" V2 turned over to Michael, with another question in mind. "Do you think that I could stay here, but for the night?" he asked as he used his hand to rub his arm. "I haven't seen an actual night like this." No. No you will not.
That's what he wanted to say.
"Of course, but only for one night... V2." He answered this instead.
V2 light up a little before bowing her head. "Thank you, Michael."
Michael bowed his head as well. "You are welcome, I hope you will enjoy the night." he said as he watched him sitting down and crossed his legs on one of many luxurious pillows to watch at the skies with wonder and silent joy.
Michael just wanted to offer her a room of her own but stopped himself. "Have a good night, V2." He bided good night before he turned and then headed towards his own resting chambers as V2 bids him a good evening as well.
Oh God Almighty, what is he even doing?
He had offered the machine to sleep over in the Eighth Sphere of Heaven for the night and only for the night. And all after that ritual of courtship!
He moved a fabric leading into his room away and letting it fall behind him as his head looked at it. He turned to his left arm and noticed new flowers have grown from the wounds. He must've accidentally scratched it during that dance as he carefully recognized them.
Peace lilies, cosmos and apple blooms.
No doubt this was related to the dance.
Michael turned to the fabric once again and peaked to see V2, still there right where he left her, watching the view and a dim lunar light before letting the fabric drop once again. It was the first time he had participated the ritual and he hoped it would also be the last yet.
His wings made from glass and metal, stamina long enough to keep up with him and the look in the optic. An angel of iron and blood he had greeted as an plan to restore Gabriel yet he could've known that this robot...
Never meant to be an replacement. Striped of purpose. Failed in securing something far from her reach. Stoic. Intelligent.
V2 was just like himself. He could come to talk to Raphael for advise on this newfound friendship but still on the same matter, maybe he could ask him if they could dance one more time before turning in for the night.

Dicecloud V1 Guide, pt. 1
credit: 💉on pinterest
Hello to my wonderful players! This post is to serve as my go-to link when I have to run games and my players aren't familiar with Dicecloud.
Disclaimer: Everything I say is of my opinion and personal preference. I do not claim that one is objectively better over the other. If I do, assume that I mean it in a joking manner.
If you still decide to use D&DB after this, that's fine too! I just can't help if something goes terribly wrong.
🌼˗ˏˋ "Why not D&D Beyond?"
Because DC is free, supremely customizable with unlimited character slots and easy to implement homebrew. The catch is that its all manual (aside from the stat math) and at worst you would have to add a list of things in one by one.
Additionally, those who are experienced with Markdown / HTML can use their knowledge to automate some math or functions.
I think its a good thing to have new players learn to create a character from the scratch. D&DB gives you a handful of choices with short descriptions that can be skimmed over, the player won't really understand what the feature is or why they made that choice.
To give you an idea on what DC is like, here are some of my characters ranging from low levels (1-5) to level 30 (it was a heavily homebrewed campaign):
Momo, Level 3 Gestalt Character, Barbarian (Giants)/Druid (Wildfire)
Rowena Lillith Burnette Grey, Level 30 Gestalt Character, Blood Hunter (Mutant)/Ranger (Monster Slayer)
Whiff, Level 6 Character, Rogue (Arcane Trickster)
Lanie Colette Jacquét, Level 6 Character, Ranger (Fey Wanderer)/Warlock (Archfey)
🌼˗ˏˋ "What about sources?" / "How can I find X?"
5e Wikidot. Everything is literally right there for ✨F R E E✨ no subscription or content sharing needed.
🌼˗ˏˋ "How can I roll dice during games?"
I use Owlbear Rodeo and its dice rolling extensions. It just doesn't connect your sheet to the VTT like Beyond20.
I. Signing In to Dicecloud
If you don't already have an account, go ahead and make one (link below)
https://v1.dicecloud.com/
We will be using version 1 (V1) Dicecloud. Its the one I'm familar with and it's the easily customizable one. Version 2 massively overhauls the OGs systems, so I don't know how to use it (plus, no unli slots). If you decide to use V2, that's fine too!
II. Creating a New Character
Great! Now open up the sidebar (☰ on the top left if you're on mobile), click on "Characters", then the big red plus button (bottom right)
It will give you 3 options, select "New Character"
(Check picture below) You'll be greeted to this screen, at the very least fill in the character's name and race. But they will all be changeable later if you decide to change your mind.
One you click "Add" you will be greeted to your character's "Stats" page (keep in mind that I'll call them "Tabs" or "Pages")
From here, I'm assuming you already have a character in mind. If you don't, I have a separate post--a quick guide. Feel free to check it out then come back here.
III. Setting your Base Ability Scores
I have all the pictures below in order. On your character sheet, head to the "Features" page, you will then see the "Base Ability Scores" feature.

Click on that and you will be shown your ability scores, they are 10 by default. To edit them, click on the pencil on the top right of the pop up window.

The pencil puts you in, what I like to call, "editing mode." Earlier you were just in "viewing mode."
Anyways, you will see pencils on the right side. Each of them allows you to edit their corresponding ability score.

Clicking on then brings you here (look below) where you can change the value. Remember, this is your base ability score, that means before you receive any bonuses.

After editing each score, you should end up with something like this. Just hit the check mark (✔) at the top right corner or click outside the pop up window.
Once you've done that for every ability, you should end up with something like this:
This post is getting pretty long, so I'll continue this in another post. I'll update and leave links as I go.

what Pokemon would your V1 and V2 have?
this took a while of thinking and honestly my answers my change later down the line but this is what i've got so far o/
v1:
iron moth - sun-themed robot (the other sun-themed pokemon are not very fitting)
ceruledge - has a life draining move (bitter blade, which is also its signature move) and is the counterpart to armarouge
gholdengo - coins
staraptor - "It has a savage nature. It will courageously challenge foes that are much larger." "It never stops attacking even if it is injured. It fusses over the shape of its comb." ok apart from that last sentence, yeah, i'd say thats fitting for v1. staraptor also has hidden ability reckless, which increases the damage of recoil moves in exchange for higher recoil damage. its other ability, intimidate, also works because of the lore where "every enemy focuses on v1 when you enter a room because v1 gained a reputation for being the highest threat" little bug scary !! also starlings are passerines
v2:
clawitzer - it's a water type and it has a gun. i couldn't really find any other fitting ocean themed pokemon, other than maybe primarina but i don't think primarina fits v2
armarouge - it's red and yellow and it also has a gun
tinkaton - it builds its hammer from scrap metal, like how v2 builds its arms
alolan decidueye - "Although basically cool and cautious, when it’s caught by surprise, it’s seized by panic." (moon dex entry) also the arrows can be like bullets i guess, gun pokemon are rare in the pokemon world.
both of them:
silvally/type: full - different parts of this pokemon fit the both of them in different ways. silvally, built as part of the beast killer project, which, even without the "v1 was built to kill earthmovers" theory, still fits v1 since it just shreds through every living thing. silvally is "still extremely loyal to its Trainer, and it will even risk its own life in its partner's defense" which is pretty v2 to me. also, there were only 3 models created for the beast killer project, and the project itself was a failure, which is pretty V Model In General (subtract 1 from the 3 models thing though)
considerations that didn't make it on the team:
swellow - v1. decided for meta reasons, with swellow being a speedy guts facade user, but even that part doesn't really fit v1. i do think its reckless (drawing from how i play a little), but like, it doesn't gain a damage boost from being statused or at low hp or anything
golurk - v2. it's an automation made to protect people and pokemon, and also be a labourer. the other parts of it, where it's "made by ancient people" and "removing the seal on its chest causes it to go berserk" doesn't really fit v2
anyways unrelated i think earthmovers should have a stakataka. funny building. stakataka sweep
so yeah tl;dr:
(oh wow that is small. not sure how to fix that)
#ask#churchydragon#thanks for the ask !! ^-^#not that satisfied with my team choices but ah well. theyre hard machines to make teams for#anyways if anyone has ideas for pokemon teams for them like. in general. doesnt have to be my au specifically. id like to hear your thought#i wasnt quite sure what to put for them. no 6th pokemon because...not really sure what else to put there

#life#penis mention#transhumanism#(ish)#swearing#it want to make a discordant thrumming noise and emit wispy clouds of dry ice vapour when i deploy it for absolutely no practical reason
Sadly, the NBM-M or -I modules don't emit thrumming noises or emite dry ice vapor, but they do emit lube...
Let's tweak the ol' gateway content filters for a moment...
[Accessing WorldNet interlinks... access DENI*YUG&I^RTG Granted.]
Ah, yes. here we are:
From the design notes on the Terran MK1 / V1 Synth chassis "Naughty Bits Module" section:
"signal and power interconnects shall use type 38999 RAMLOCK(tm) connectors (TVRAM-06RK-15-ATXN-STZ1) with automation lock/unlock additions and secondary fluid interconnects."
(hand written under the above spec:) "Yes, I know IOREP has never heard of Amphenol- I'm not supposed to be 'borrowing' spare parts off the tigearean embassy again." (Additional scrawling in a different hand) "really, the connector name is RAMLOCK? Who let their teenage son name that?"
"mechanical locking bolts SHALL be torqued to 6 newton-meters (5 ft.lbs) minimum. 12 N.m - remember the last time in the Listening room?!?!?" (replacement text handwritten)
"Before placing surrounding skin modules back on, verify that all 8 interlocks on NBM are showing GREEN on both grapple lock pawls and within MCP status/control display."
Detachable junk sounds good in theory, but I can't help but feel that the plug-and-play approach is just asking for trouble. Forget about USB compatibility – I want something mounted on a threaded rod that I have to spend several minutes turning into place, and it makes an obtrusive squeaka-squeaka-squeaka noise the whole time because I'm a dumbass and forgot to lubricate it. I want something that needs to be seated and secured like the parallel data cable from a 1950s computer. I want something where removing it requires disengaging a series of four interlocking mechanical toggles, and I want each of those toggles to go ka-chunk.

ITIL Framework Explained—A Guide by Prompt Edify
Introduction
In today’s digital era, organizations depend heavily on well-structured IT services to support their operations. To ensure consistent service quality, businesses across the globe follow the ITIL framework (Information Technology Infrastructure Library). Originally developed by the UK government in 1989, ITIL has evolved into a globally recognized standard for IT Service Management (ITSM).
At Prompt Edify, we aim to simplify the complexity of ITIL for professionals and organizations. Whether you're new to ITIL or seeking to deepen your understanding, this guide provides a clear and structured overview of the framework, its components, and effective implementation strategies.
Evolution of ITIL
ITIL began with ITIL v1, which included 31 volumes of best practices. Over the years, the framework has been refined:
ITIL v2: Released in the early 2000s, it focused on service delivery and support, becoming the global benchmark for ITSM.
ITIL v3 (2011): Introduced the service lifecycle approach, focusing on five stages—Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement.
ITIL 4 (2019): The latest version, which integrates modern methodologies like Agile, DevOps, and Lean. ITIL 4 promotes flexibility, collaboration, and continuous value delivery.
Incident Management
This process restores normal service operations as quickly as possible, minimizing business disruption. It focuses on efficient communication between IT teams and users to ensure that incidents (unplanned disruptions) are resolved promptly.
Change Management
This ensures that all changes in the IT environment are implemented with minimal risk. A Change Advisory Board (CAB) evaluates proposed changes and approves or rejects them based on risk and business impact.
Service Request Management
Service requests involve routine tasks such as password resets, software updates, and access permissions. ITIL supports automation of these requests, improving efficiency and user satisfaction while reducing the burden on the service desk.
Release Management
Release management focuses on planning, testing, and deploying new software or hardware into the live environment. It ensures accuracy, stability, and minimal disruption during the release process.
Configuration Management
This involves tracking all configuration items (CIs) such as hardware, software, and documentation. A Configuration Management Database (CMDB) acts as a central repository to manage assets and their relationships.
Capacity Management
Capacity management ensures that IT resources meet current and future business demands. It includes planning, monitoring, and optimizing the performance of infrastructure.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning (BCP)
Disaster Recovery (DR) outlines how quickly IT services can be restored after unexpected events, like cyberattacks or system failures. BCP provides a step-by-step plan to ensure critical services remain available during disasters, helping maintain business stability and continuity.
Service Level Management (SLM)
SLM defines clear agreements between IT and business units, known as Service Level Agreements (SLAs). These SLAs set expectations around availability, performance, and resolution timelines for IT services.
Implementing the ITIL Framework
Successful ITIL implementation starts with understanding your organization’s culture and IT maturity. Here are steps recommended by Prompt Edify:
Understand the Five ITIL Stages: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement.
Evaluate Organizational Readiness: Identify gaps in current IT processes and capabilities.
Train Your Team: Ensure that staff receive proper ITIL training. Prompt Edify offers ITIL 4 Foundation and advanced certification courses to build internal capability.
Promote ITIL Culture: Create awareness across departments to foster collaboration and accountability.
Measure and Improve: Use KPIs and continuous feedback to refine processes over time.
By following these steps, businesses can build a robust ITSM system aligned with business objectives.
ITIL Certification Pathways
ITIL certifications are globally recognized and boost credibility in the IT industry. At Prompt Edify, we offer a structured learning path:
ITIL 4 Foundation: Entry-level, ideal for beginners and professionals seeking an overview of ITIL principles.
