K-2 paints a colourful picture of UPIS life at ISKULAY
Tumblr media
UP Integrated School K-2 students showcased their talents in a culminating activity dubbed ISKULAY: Ang Buhay ng Isko at Iska ay Makulay! at the UP Film Center on May 17, 2025.
The idea for ISKULAY emerged in response to the pandemic and the restrictions on school performances. Unlike previous pre-pandemic events, which were limited to members of the K-2 club Teatro Munti, this year’s event included all students from Kindergarten through Grade 2.
Organized by the K-2 Department, the event featured dance performances from the Kindergarten to Grade 2 sections. The culminating activity was staged in two shows: one featuring the AM classes from 9:00-10:30 and the other the PM classes from 1:30-3:00 PM.
Tumblr media
Both segments began with a special performance by Kontra-Gapi, the resident ethnic music and dance ensemble of the UP Diliman College of Arts and Letters. The group was introduced by Amelia Hope S. Dungca from K-Dahlia in the morning, and by Monica Margarete R. Archog from K-Liryo in the afternoon.
Each section's performance began with an introduction by a representative, followed by a montage highlighting the section's experiences throughout the school year. This included class activities, dance workshops, field trips, Literary Week, Thanksgiving Day, UPIS Days, and many more, featuring photos of each student that captured the memories and moments that defined their year.
Tumblr media
The AM segment opened with a performance from K-Adelfa, while K-Liryo led the PM segment. Both sections performed “Umagang Kay Ganda” by Barbie Almalbis, concluding their routines by putting on sunglasses and linking arms.
Followed by the first performance, the class of K-Dahlia took over the stage in the AM segment, and K-Mirasol during the PM segment. Dancing to “Sukob Na” by Aiza Seguerra, both classes incorporated umbrellas into their choreography to close their routine.
Tumblr media
Grade 1 presentations came next with 1-Myna in the morning and 1-Kalaw in the afternoon. Their routine featured a medley of “Oras Na Para Magbasa” by Rivermaya and Jolina Magdangal and “Sine’skwela” by Ryan Cayabyab, incorporating children’s books into the choreography.
Next were 1-Pipit and 1-Tagak, who performed in the AM and PM segments respectively. They performed to “Luksong Tinik” by Joey Ayala, including movements that demonstrate the traditional Filipino street game referenced in the song.
Tumblr media
Then, Grade 2 performances opened with 2-Kaimito in the morning and 2-Langka in the afternoon. Both classes danced to “Isang Pamilya Tayo” by Unit 406 and Yeng Constantino, ending with illustration boards showing images of their families.
The final numbers came from 2-Papaya in the AM segment, and 2-Dalandan in the PM segment. Their performance to “Karera” by BINI featured the use of colorful flags as part of the choreography.
Tumblr media
To close the program, Isabella VDD Cuasay of 1-Myna introduced the final performance in the morning, while Eros R. Silverio of 1-Tagak did the same in the afternoon. All K-2 students came together to perform “Awit ng Bahaghari” by Noel Cabangon, with their attire arranged in a rainbow sequence as they struck various poses throughout the routine. Each student was also given a custom-made hat as a token of appreciation and participation.
Asst. Prof. Tin Linsangan (T. Tin), K-2 Department Head, shared that starting the planning process and securing funding were their main challenges. Fortunately, strong sponsor support allowed them to raise more than enough funds, enabling them to hire event lighting and basic photo and video services.
She also emphasized that manpower from the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA), student teachers, the UPIS Media Center, and the UPIS Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) was crucial to the event’s success. Organizing it was a true all-hands-on-deck effort, with everyone contributing to the preparations. T. Tin stressed the importance of effective resourcing, stating, “Talagang kailangang ano, mag-tap into different resources na pwede naming makuha [na] within UP sana.”
“Nagkakaroon yung mga parents and students ng something to remember by n’ung K-2 sila,” T. Tin remarked, emphasizing the importance of the event in creating lasting memories for both students and their families. Additionally, the program was well-organized and engaging, making it a delightful experience for everyone in attendance.

READING AND WRITING TASK
SORIA, MIKYLAFE A.
G11 - NARRA
A typhoon is a type of large storm system having a circular or spiral system of violent winds, typically hundreds of kilometers or miles in diameter. The Philippines is an area of intense seismic activity because it is located along the border of two tectonic plates on the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’, which means it is also prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
MANILA, 29 October 2022 – Tropical Storm Nalgae (local name Paeng) made landfall on Saturday, 29 October in Catanduanes with over 3 million people living in affected areas. Strong winds and heavy rains are causing flooding, landslides, and displacement in several regions in the Philippines, with 72 unconfirmed casualties. In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) alone, over 78,000 households are reported to be affected by flooding and rain-induced landslides. Nalgae is the latest of over 20 storms that hit the Philippines during the 2022 Pacific Typhoon season.
“You cannot forever escape from the storm; you must learn to stand up to it!” Filipinos are known for being resilient in the face of a storm, literally and figuratively. When you live in a country where natural disasters happen quite frequently, you just have to be tough and remain faithful. We should build an emergency kit and make a family emergency plan and listen to the radio or TV for information.
Typhoons is like kryptonite to me. Students like me face high risks of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression disorder, and other health problems after typhoons .
There are three lesson I learned from typhoon Paeng. First, We must always be prepared because we don’t know what will happen. Find out where the evacuation area is, find out the emergency hotlines and prepare food, water, clothes, and emergency kits. Second, We must know what to do when there is a storm and flood so that we are not afraid and nervous. Lastly, Help the relatives clean up the mess caused by the typhoon Paeng and ask the relatives who were devastated by the typhoon Paeng are doing if they are fine.
"Awit Pag-asa" sung by: Alon Composed by : Renee Dela Rosa and Alvin De Vera
Filipinos are ready to help and unite in everything. We are not alone in the challenges of life because God and our fellow human beings are there. In everything we do, let's show love to our fellow human beings because we are the only ones who will help each other.
PINK - RETELLING
BLUE - QUOTATION

@21
happy birthday Kesha, can you believe it your 21 last time you were just this 18 year old girl who is still clueless and afraid of things, not so confident and full of doubt but did you see how you’ve grown. did you notice the things you have overcome, why don’t we trip down to memory lane senior high- it was a challenging school year for you having been the first ones to study in this curriculum but with the help of the best people you’ve done it and even graduated with honors and was awarded outstanding in your academic strand. then your world was shook when you knew you didn’t pass the UPCAT you were very disappointed with yourself and you blame yourself. college- clinging on to God’s promise you studied your first year at Southern Luzon State University the same university where you graduated senior high school which was a very nice school and because you got waitlisted you took up Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education and during that time you made up your mind that you were not really into teaching but during your stay there you met great people who became your friends and you know what they even trusted you to be their class president which I know you aren’t really a good leader but still you tried to be responsible and a good listener to them to the point that even your seniors entrusted you the academic organization and I know that is a much bigger responsibility for you and you were so scared thinking that you can't handle it. during those times you were really planning to transfer to UPLB, you were very determined that’s why you were hesitant to accept the responsibility and you had many thoughts about it but still you tried then you failed, you failed your org, your leadership and you were so apologetic towards your org mates, you doubted your leadership and it got the best of you. realizing that this org was too much for you, you handed the responsibility to the one you know that is capable of leading. you really did your best to maintain a GWA which was required for you to transfer- while you were processing your documents you really felt God’s approval because there were a few circumstances that you thought that you will never get to UP but guess what? you are now currently taking up BS-Development Communication and you remember the days when you got interviewed by the college sec and you got accepted you were on cloud nine and super thanking your Father in heaven for allowing you to study in this university. for the first week you were very excited to learn and with the Taal eruption going on you were adjusting and were able to meet new friends and a very warm community. then the pandemic happened and that just kick you like classes were cancelled, the sem ended early and you see you were like so happy that finally you’re in this university but then COVID-19 so quarantine- from march to now, september you and the whole country was in quarantine and during these times you felt down, anxious and you became super lazy but you had your good days, you were restored, it gave you time to reflect and get to know Jesus more and discovered that you have this great longing for Him and spark your heart for the lost. you were able to gather and have a youth fellowship in your church where you help others to have that desire in knowing Jesus more, building relationship with Him. do you remember your Ate Awit in your church and you saw her leading you and the youths in your fellowship and for that you admired her, her faith and her desire in discipling you and the others and now looking at yourself i believe you are also doing it little by little.
I remember I was so in a hurry to grow up, to be like my Ate in our church, I was in a hurry to be like her, to have this and to have that and I tried, during in my senior year I tried sharing gospel to my friends but it turns out I’m not yet ready, I’m not prepared. I realized that I needed to strengthen my faith first before others and thankfully God used someone to help me grow my faith and that is through Ate Coleen of ENC Lucban. Then during in my first year of college at SLSU I met some of my brothers and sisters in Christ and we started a fellowship with our classmates but we also stopped because we knew as a group that we were working for the kingdom but not for the King, we had to check our hearts and intentions. I came to UPLB where I met this warm community, a family I met the CRU(CCC) community and this family helped me adjust to the new environment or culture in elbi and they also helped me get closer to God, helped me desire a spirit-filled life also with the help of my discipler Ate K. During this quarantine, the Lord planted a desire in my heart to lead a discipleship group and now that I’ve thought of it maybe during those times when I tried to lead a group, share gospel and many more ministries, God was equipping me, He was teaching me so that when the right time comes I will be ready. “ When the time is right I, the Lord will make it happen,”Isaiah 60:22. Now that I am going into young adulthood I’m 21! I am excited on what more great things God has in store for me on how He will use me in His ministry.
️ oh wow this came out very long, well I typed hahhaa from the heart, if you’re still here thank you for reading :) i hope through this long thought u were encouraged and if you want to know more about Jesus we can talk :)
To God be all the glory!
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind can imagine the things             that God has prepared for those who love Him.

Personal Story
It was the third of December of 2002 when the fourth and last child of Mr. Albert and Ms. Cynthia Asuncion was born. An avid fan of Justice League they named him Bruce Wayne. He looked exactly the same as his Father though a whiter version of him. The baby grew up as a loving and understanding child, being a baby his brother Brian Austin took care of him, loved him and took full responsibility as his Kuya. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne’s Ate Kristine Claire and Ela Mae also looked after him and played with him all the games they wanted to teach him. Their family lived in a humble home located in Brgy. Doclong 2nd, San Clemente, Tarlac together with their family relatives. The family lived simply and instills good morals and conduct to their children to be able to prepare their children for the future.
Tumblr media
Growing up, Bruce Wayne is fond of playing outdoor games with his neighbors; he used to play Tagutaguan, Tumbang Preso, Patintero and the all-time favorite Jolens and Tecks”. From a family of Teachers, Bruce was taught by his parents on how to read and write at an early age. He entered kindergarten at the age of 2 and her mother was his first teacher at Cacamilingan Sur Development Center where he learned the basics of education, from what boys and girls wear, to the numbers and the whole alphabets and to singing to the Pambansang Awit. Bruce Wayne excelled in class maybe because his teacher is his mom or maybe because he is really a bright child.
As he continued to grow and loved learning, he entered Camiling Central Elementary School for his primary studies, together with his Kuya Brian Austin they wandered the place and stayed for almost 6 years until they graduated. In primary school, Bruce Wayne showed his love for learning, not just in the academe but also for extracurricular activities. He joined poster making and slogan making contest, participated in celebration months like the Nutrition Month, Buwan ng Wika and United Nations. During intramurals he also joined to learn camaraderie and sportsmanship among men, he played badminton and volleyball as a fresh start to sports. At exactly March 7, 2015, Bruce Wayne graduated in Elementary Education, he almost got the Boy Scout of the Year Award but nonetheless he still received a medal for participating in the Provincial Jamboree.
At the age of 12, Bruce Wayne entered Camiling Catholic School as a freshman student. During his first year and second years in High School he built his enthusiast in studying, despite the endless projects and nearing deadlines submission he was able to pass all his projects. Does his homework after school and even helped his fellow classmates with theirs. It was his 3rd year or Grade 9 when he represented his section St. Raymond of Penafort during the Buwan ng Wika Celebration to be the next Ginoong Buwan ng Wika of his school, not a pro of pageants but still he did his very best to make not only his family proud but also his classmates who chose him to be their section’s representative. A first timer, Bruce Wayne was not able to be part of the Top 5 but still is very humble and happy for such a wonderful experience on joining such prestigious event of the school. At the end of his Grade 9 School year, Bruce received a Best in Service Award for his industrious deeds in school. During his third year is also his third year in joining the Altar Server Ministry. He served in the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church during Sundays and during Lenten Seasons as well. Every Sunday he spent most of his time in the church and also helped other staring altar servers. Bruce Wayne has been committed in his service that he stayed in the ministry up to his 4th year in school. It was a fun filled and a full of learning experience to study in Camiling Catholic School said Bruce. He graduated last March 30, 2019 with Honors and was accompanied by his family during one of the highlights of his life at the age of 16.
Tumblr media
After graduation, Bruce had to think real quick for his next step to be able to fulfill his journey on becoming a Civil Engineer someday, together with his classmates and guidance of his family he was able to enter the next chapter of his life as a Senior High School in the same school, Camiling Catholic School under STEM 2 Section with his Adviser Karla Mae Macatangay. As to Bruce, it was too early to conclude but this school year is by far the most challenging one, he must say that it feels like he is really on the next level of studying, a glimpse of the real world because of the complexities of the subjects and a different approach from his past school years. Bruce is excited to what the next days will the school has to offer to him and how he can be able to cope and also be able to balance his studies and other activities like going to the gym to stay fit, being an altar server, a basketball player and an MVP in the making.
Tumblr media
Being the bunso in the family, Bruce Wayne is not relieved in doing household chores; he was also assigned as a dishwasher during afternoons and alternates with his Kuya in the evening. He also took full responsibility in helping his parents run their business, they have a food cart located in the 2nd Floor Food Court Section of the Camiling Public Market, a Cellphone Repair and Accessories Shop and their newly opened Computer/Internet Shop named TechShed, he is inviting everyone to go and patronize their business and help Bruce Wayne to finance his studies.
Tumblr media
Looking forward for the years to come, Bruce dreamed of becoming a bachelor civil engineer and building his own dream house and helping his family one day. With a positive attitude and a spirited mind set he knew that his dreams will come true.

The 11 years are upon you, and with my parents, some opportunities and challenges arise as a kid. Hanging out with your 11-year-old can be really fun as they're starting to understand the world and converse like mini-adults. This is where I learn things that are more important than things that I can't learn or know anything about, I became more aware of the things that I live with, but I chose to enjoy life more than to have problems at this age so I learned a lot in the life of those times.
However, the intensity and the drama of a pre-teen can be frustrating and difficult for a parent to handle. From the complex social dynamics at school to the physical changes that can confuse and embarrass a tween. Studying is difficult but we know that these difficulties have positive consequences, as a young person who still has little knowledge of what life means to me, I prefer to learn more than to learn things that are not important or need to know about.
Joining contest that surely helps me develop things in life. This is my last year in elementary school, maybe I'm making the most of the days that I'm in elementary school and will soon be in high school. It was at San Luis Central School because I joined BIGSAYWIT which means combined BIGkas, SAYaw, and aWIT. We also practiced for maybe a month so that we could represent our school for the San Luis District Competition, we spent our time and effort so that we could show what Banoyo Elementary School has. And for the knowledge of others, from grade 5 or 4, I always participate in these contests because this is where I shape the talent and what I have of our school. The person who took this photo must have been my mom after we presented and I look like I'm not in the mood because I'm shy to take a picture. What I'm wearing here is leggings and a black t shirt and a traditional in line with Philippine culture because it's language month.

Faculty and Staff who had rendered long service to Central Philippine University were honored in the 2019 Service Awards Program on December 20 at the Rose Memorial Auditorium. The 78 awardees received incentives, plaques, and certificates.
The program started at 2:30 in the afternoon with a Community Singing led by University Church Associate Pastor Rev. Roger T. Quimpo. Senior Pastor Rev. Cris Amorsolo Sian led the devotional, which was followed by the Pambansang Awit led by Ms. Magdalena Cristi Lyni Huyong, Coordinator, Cultural Affairs Office.
Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, University President greeted the faculty and staff and congratulated the 2019 Long Service Awardees. He thanked everyone for their dedication and cooperation in their work which contributed to the improvement of the University. Dr. Robles cited the challenges that his administration faced – including the free tuition fees of state schools, additional rooms for the students and other concerns that the University has overcome with the support of the faculty and staff.

Dr. Humar Aberia, on behalf of the faculty, expressed his gratitude for Dr. Robles’ endeavor on the improvement of the faculty and staff’s benefits.
The Long Service Awardees were faculty and staff belonging to the 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 – year category, as determined by the Human Resource Development Office. After the Service Award Ceremony, the faculty and staff proceeded to the University Gym for the annual Christmas Party.
