Hey! Do you have any information regarding Rotten Heaven and their creations? I specifically would like to know more about Busuko and Honue. Thank youuu <3
Hi, I'm not sure exactly what kind of info you're looking for so I'll just go with a basic introduction of the Artist and his contribution to Ukagaka.
Rotten Heaven is a website created by artist Watazou/Wat 「real name: Tomohiko Watanabe」. The website was created in 2001, firstly as a tripod website and got delete somewhere in late 2016. The website mainly served as a diary, gallery and download site for his creations.
About: Watazou is a sucker for metal music (who would've thought ?) his favorite groups being Death Angel, Exodus, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, etc. He also loves Vocaloid, most notably Miku & Luka, drawing various fanart & having a collection. He also wrote in his dairy about events and festivals he went to. Wat also was a fan of Hellboy and Mike Mignola. On his Twitter he has been posting a lot about Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.
Watazou was very active in the Ukagaka community, he notably created various original Ukagaka Ghosts over the years which were all very complete.
🥀The Toxic Waltz [2001]
"Slash-hardcore clothing and fast-paced animation, high tension and angry conversations will transport you to a world that cannot be replicated. She is also known for her funny interactions with other Ghosts, and is in any case a ghost with a high degree of communication excellence."
Ghost consisting of Busuko "Diva Satanica" her companion Honeyu and her sisters, Kusuko "Chemical Warfare" & Kakuko "Atomic Smasher". An additional shell would later be created for Busuko, called Busyakko or Yakko for short.

Left: Busyakko - Right: Busuko, her sisters & Honeyu
🦴Hone Hone Oyako [2006]
Ghost consisting of Honeyu and his daughter Honue who can also be spotted in the Ghost The Toxic Waltz, randomly appearing. She features multiple Outfits which are randomised at launch.
🪦RottenHeaven - Graveyard Lovesong [2008]
Ghost consisting of RottenHeaven, a living dead girl, inspired by the Frankenstein's monster & her companion Heartache. RottenHeaven's scripts are mostly written in Hiragana/Katakana with no Kanji.
Un addition to that, he also created a number of Ghosts, notably clock ones, Shells for Ghosts such as 54 or Talker, a Ghost named "Raven" for the baseware Crow, participated in art books and drew fanart of various other Ghosts. His own creations, most Notably Busuko for The Toxic Waltz was featured in many fanart within the community and fan games such UkaSamsh & U-New de Bomber XP. A fansite The Toxic Alliance (毒子同盟) would even be created by fans of The Toxic Waltz
On a last note, Wat notably collaborated with Ryūō Zero/Zero-r, creator of the Ghost Blood Tea House, to create a series of merch featuring Busuko & Urako for the Ukagaka Anniversary Event of 2012.
And there you go, I hope this answers some of your questions, there's definitely some information that I haven't seen being shared by many users before so that should teach people a few things. Looking into this made me love Watazou's work even more.
HAVE A GOOD FRIENDLY VIOLENT FUN !

i LOVE the way aster terror star looks, but i think it didn't install correctly- did i do something wrong, or is it meant to look so glitchy? the tails of his coat keep showing up in front of his legs, or parts of his head will disappear...
yeah that's not even remotely supposed to happen. there's a couple more intentional glitch animations but even those have the tail in the back
are you sure you're using the current SSP version? as of writing the current version is 2.6.91. terror star uses some animation methods that may not be available in older (like. YEARS older) versions, let alone other baseware (materia, crow, ninix-kagari, though that last one is just catching up).
it's not unheard of users downloading ancient versions of SSP, originally bundled with reupload of classic Japanese ghosts like Mayura the digital witch, so you wouldn't be alone in that case
if you're using an operating system other than windows and running ssp through WINE, I'm of much less help but that's not really supposed to happen there either.
#not art#ask post#aster keeps ending up in the weirdest issues VHCKFKK#though I'm pretty sure the code is fine. the animation code wasn't edited since the tail update...

how to make a ghost...in android?
In theory, it is possible! Albeit in a limited form.
There is indeed an android baseware for ukagaka, called Ukagaka for Android. However, please note that this baseware is not fully compatible with many many ghosts. There are a lot of features in SSP that do not exist in Ukagaka for Android, and as of this writing the app was last updated in 2019. So, it may or may not be developed further.
However, you may have more luck if you're developing a ghost specifically for it, with all of its quirks in mind! If you can draw on your phone and write text files on your phone, then theoretically you can develop a ghost for this baseware entirely on your phone. The baseware is compatible with YAYA, so you should have no trouble using that as the coding language for your ghost.
I have personally used this app a few times, but I don't know that much about it. I know that I've had trouble with it not saving my progress in various ghosts, so unless you can figure out how to get that working, you may want to try making a style of ghost that isn't reliant on any sort of progression system (like a relationship system, etc.).
If you or anyone else learns more about this baseware and how to develop ghosts effectively for it, please do share! Although it may be more limited than SSP, having some simple ghosts available on android would be great, especially for folks that don't have a computer.
Good luck with it! If you need any help with the basics of developing a ghost, we can still help with that, so do get in touch!

NEEDLE HOUND [and needle dog!]
Shells for Needle, a ghost by Zichqec and Galla!
Download the Needle Dog shell here! thank you Zichqec for uploading a mirror for it! download the Needle Hound shell here!
Download Needle, the ghost needed for this shell, here! Download SSP, the baseware I use to run ghosts, here! Check out the Ukagaka Dream Team wiki here if you want more info on ghosts!
If you need help, have questions, etc, feel free to leave a comment or message me!
I made Needle Dog on 6/29/2022, and Needle Hound on 11/8/2024. Both were only released to the discord, until 11/11/24, where Needle Dog was reuploaded by Zichqec; with permission; since I wasn't in the Ukagaka scene anymore. I came back and made Needle Hound, and am currently working on a ghost that I hope to release by sometime next year, if I don't forget/lose interest again lol

Hi, so sorry to bother, but my Yes Man also completely reverted similar to how the previous person on the page was talking about. I had him open and updated SSP, which closed him, booted up SSP and he was fine, but when I closed SSP and restarted my computer, it was like he completely restarted and all my progress with him is lost 😔 I'm not completely sure what could have caused this, but I saw how the other person mentioned restarting their computer and connected our situations. Just wanted to let you know in case this is some kind of bug.
Okay after a bit of testing, I've only found one way to reproduce this, so two very important questions: 1) Had SSP been closed at any point before this, or was he running since he was installed? If not, were the progress/ unlocks that reverted gained in the session that the update and restart happened during? and 2) How are you closing SSP? Are you doing it through SSP's right click menu's bottom option of 'Close' or 'Quit' (picture included at bottom of post for clarification)? Or are you closing him through task manager, or letting the computer auto quit out of SSP when it's restarting?
If you do not close him through SSP's actual menu for this, then yes, it appears that it does not get a chance to save the updated variables so this will reset any progress made during that session. This isn't really a bug on my end or the baseware's end I don't think, it's just sort of. Something that will happen if you don't let it close/ save properly.

i recommend these things called ukagaka. very much. they sit on your desktop and are cute. kind of like shimeji if you know those, but move less and talk more.
i recommend Needle in particular. some people have told me its cuteness is subjective, but i don't know what they mean??
(down 4 some needle)
get Needle ^^^^^^ (search + install ukagaka baseware SSP first if you need it)

Pocket Ghost (Ukagaka baseware for Pocket PC 2002) ★(download)★ (last update: version 0.05 - 2003/3/23) -the only supported/compatible SHIORI is Satori -dragging and dropping .nar files isn't supported. unzip the .nar contents first and copy and paste the entire folder into the ghost folder. -shrinks the shell size automatically but your ghost will boot faster if you install a smaller shell (e.g: Chisato 50% smaller surface ver. or Chisato 75% smaller surface ver.) - ghost featured in the preview screenshot is Chisato & Gyotaku & Shrine maiden gods (Author: RAIL) Copyright(C) 2002-2003 Hekiun, All rights reserved.

I wonder how ugaka for such small and entertaining content has gotten so much just so much fan stuff and even lots of drawings, I find it quite nice to see old web stuff, especially Japanese ones
I think it mostly have to do with the collaborative aspect, which is just deep rooted in the project, ever since it's early days, the program has always been greatly appreciated for being shareware and freeware. And, in my opinion, that's why it got insanely more popular than the original Personaware in the first place, because it was something that people could contribute to and it still is to this day, more than 20 years later.
You wish the program had more functions ? You can make them yourself, you don't like the default characters ? There are hundreds of those, here's one that plays music, here's one that plays game, here's one that has a story, here's one in Japanese, in English, in Korean, etc.
There's also the non-copyright, you could make fanart of the characters but also create products to be sold without being feared of getting in trouble for using copyrighted material. A bit similar to Touhou project which has a ton of fan content because ZUN doesn't restrict fans and let anyone create using his characters and world.
Also the fact that there is not only one Ukagaka program per say, rejoining my first point, thanks to the projecr being contributed by whoever feels like it, we have basewares on multiple OS making the use of Ukagaka much more accessible than if it was only 1 program, and if someone abandons their program, nothing's stopping someone else from making a new one, and as such the life of Ukagakas goes on.
...
That and of course other reasons such as, being talked about on Futaba Channel, being written about in newspapers or having fanart made by very popular artists and of course, NSFW content, which whether we like it or not, contributes to popularity.

I wanna ask that, why my ghost lost the progress for everytime i close? It's my first time..so idk the workaround much thanks for readingg
This could be for multiple reasons! You'll have to provide more details such as what ghost you're using and what baseware you're running it on for us to be able to help you more specifically.
Some common issues are:
1. SSP is running out of a zip file or other temporary/protected folder, or a folder that has a cloud service (such as google drive or one drive) backing up the contents
You should never run SSP out of a zip file. If you have it in a zip file, make sure to extract it.
SSP also does not get along with cloud services such as google drive or one drive, which may overwrite your ghost's save files. Do not use it in folders affected by these services. The best practice is to put SSP in its own folder somewhere on the computer that does not have any special properties. This could be a folder on your desktop, or you might try in your documents folder, or another place under "My PC" (assuming you're running Windows).
2. SSP does not close properly when you ask it to, or you aren't closing it before the computer shuts down
If SSP crashes or otherwise closes improperly, one of the side effects is that ghosts which you ran for the first time as a part of that session are not marked as having completed their first booting sequence.
When SSP starts again, it will trigger the first boot sequence again, resetting your progress in the ghost (depending on how it's set up, but this is almost always the case). This effect can chain as well; if you don't close the ghost before SSP crashes again, then it will still not be marked as having completed the first boot.
I believe this has been addressed in more recent versions of SSP, though. This issue should no longer be present so long as you're running an up to date version of SSP.
Note that at times, people don't realize that SSP is crashing, because something is causing it to crash when they close normally. If you want to test this, I would try opening the ghost in question, then after you've made some progress, change to another ghost and change back in the same session. That will give you an idea of if it's an issue with how SSP is closing or not.
You can also observe: does the ghost replay the first boot dialogue (if it has one) when you boot it up again? Or does it do a normal boot dialogue but your save data is just missing?
3. Something is wrong with how the ghost is set up
There could be any number of issues on the ghost side that prevent saving! You'll have to tell us what ghost you're using if you want specific help, or if it's a ghost you're developing, give us more details and we can try to help you fix it.
4. You're using Ukagaka for Android
I've heard other users say that they have no problems with saving in Ukagaka for Android, but for me, I was never able to get it to save my progress. If you're using Ukagaka for Android, maybe you have the same issue I do.
If none of that resolves your issue, do send us another ask with more details! Let us know what ghost you're using, what OS you're running, what baseware you're using (usually SSP), what you see when you boot the ghost, and how you know your save data is not there. The more you can tell us, the better we can assist you!

Wilson Ukagaka 3.0 Release!
This post was originally slated for the 15th of November. It’s being released early specifically because I figured why not.
This is that ukagaka project I’ve been working on for... around a month now? At least a couple of weeks. I’m pretty sure we’re on version 3.0 of this project.
Anyways, he primarily works with SSP (I have not tested any other baseware given that I cannot get any other baseware, and all our template and tutorial stuff is primarily for SSP), which you can download from the official site. You can download his .nar file from this Github page that I’ve set up for his updates. You’ll want to drag and drop the .nar file onto Emily after you’ve downloaded SSP and set it to English, which you can select from the fourth option from the bottom.
I’ve set up an update system, though I’m warning you not to currently update until I actually release an update, because it’ll change the install.txt that the baseware uses to actually install the ghost, since I forgot to push that to the github branch.
I’m not outlining any goals, currently, because I have no idea if I’ll actually be able to meet them in a decent timeframe.
Parts of his shell still look clunky to me but it’s workable enough with the current system I have.

Ukagaka trivia (1/?)
the first (publicly documented) English language Ukagaka ghost was YJ Beta Ver. by Cindysuke on DeviantArt in the year 2010
Ukagaka's baseware SSP is often falseflagged by antimalware programs and Windows Defender/Smartscreen as being malicious, it's speculated that the flag is triggered by joke terms within the code such as 'enbug' or 'bugtraq' [BUGTRAQ used to be the name of a Symantec anti-virus mailing list & 'enbug' is a satirical made-up term meaning the opposite of 'debug' ]. while Ukagaka is designed to be a nuisance to the user in some ways for entertainment purposes, it's not harmful or dangerous and cannot steal your private information or files!!
ghosts that have the capability of changing your wallpaper settings might also get falseflagged by Windows Smartscreen, however it's very difficult ( if not impossible) to disguise actual malware or trojans as .nar files however, I still recommend downloading from reliable sources and from the ghostmaster's homepage or dropbox directly (when possible, archive.org mirrors are generally safe too)
the first developer of Ukagaka's alias 黒衣鯖人 ['Kuroi Sabato'] is a reference to a character of the same name from the manga series Blade of the Immortal
Ukagaka has its own Mastodon instance (for Ukagaka ghost devs )called Ukadon
on Valentine's Day in 2001, Unyu would gift the user with handwritten notes or Valentines doodles * *I lost the source link for this so maybe it was 2002?
Emily, the default ghost for SSP loves Yaki-imo (roasted Japanese sweet potatoes) so much that as an April fools joke in 2005, her nickname was listed officially as 'やきいも狂' "the sweet potato lunatic", and her favourite saying is "please give me sweet potatoes" (src)
#if i posted trivia before ignore the number lol...#i have a lot more random fun facts i want to share but will i get around to it? idk#ukagaka#ukgk#info#internet history#pls dont bother cindysuke about the 'YJ beta ver' ghost#they would have been a kid when making it and probably dont have the files anymore but i'd be curious to see screenshots one day! ^^
